Hold On To “What If”: Overanalyzing and Rewriting Sonic Prime

aka Masterpost & References: Part One

Well, you heard the hedgehog. What better way to celebrate the Year of Shadow than by talking about the show where he had the best characterization: Sonic Prime. I may have my own bias towards the show due to a personal connection, but overall I think the show is pretty good. Animation, voice-acting, music/sound, editing, they were amazing. The writing, aside from Shadow’s character, is ok. There are definitely some good lines but there were “eh” moments as well. (We’ll get back to that.)

I thought I would give an insight into what I thought about Sonic Prime, from overanalyzing every single frame to rewriting Season 3, and finally explain whatever the hell I had on my bingo card (the one I made before Season 3 was released).

Before we get into it…

As the internet is, I want to clarify some things:

1. I’m not a die-hard Sonic fan so some things may not be 100% accurate. I honestly entered into the fandom when Sonic Frontiers was announced. My first exposure to Sonic at all was the Sonic Unleashed Animated short film, “Night of the Werehog”, when I was like 14 so I caught myself up with Sonic lore in between releases of each season of Prime. Feel free to correct me if I’m wrong about anything.

2. There's this whole debacle on whether or not Prime is part of the canon. News has recently been brought up that the Prime Team didn't acknowledge the comments made by Ian and the lore team about inconsistencies. It didn't surprise me at all. The show wasn't going to be part of the canon to begin with, which was abundantly clear by the show's writing. It feels like the writers copied from a wiki. There were so many scenes where instead of taking the moment to breathe and have character development, they put fighting scenes, more so in season three.

💬 "What about the references, Shadow's characterization, etc?"

Actually, we wouldn't have them if not for some of the crew fighting SO hard to get that into the show. The animators, storyboard artists, voice actors, editors, and many others — some are legit Sonic fans and others wanted to please the fandom. They have done such a great service to the fans with what they could, so could we just give a round of applause to the creative crew behind this? 👏👏👏 To the crew, you did what you could for us, and we can’t thank you enough.

Back to the whole "canon" thing, for this essay, we'll treat Prime as a stand-alone thing unless we absolutely have to affiliate it with canon.

3. Netflix did the weird thing of splitting up all the episodes of the series and called them “seasons”. I personally call them “batches” and I know there are some people who do the same, but for our sakes, they’ll be referred to as seasons, just so we don’t get confused. Okay? Cool!

Finally, this is for funsies, don’t take this too seriously. I want to establish that I have nothing against the people behind Prime or anyone else.

Sonic’s breakdancing — a reference to Sonic’s S Rank victory animation from Sonic Generations

I mean, Sonic definitely is a breakdancer and incorporates it in his fighting style, prove me wrong.

Is fs readings is really real? Sometimes i think that the fs readings are always some projection of what the person wants or need on their life or is it a characteristic of them

Can cards says you don't have fs?

and how does channeled messages work? especially for fs? do they feel when someone try to communicate with them? Is something that they think :o?

Im really curious cuz i know these stuffs is more for entertainment but how is it possible this could happen

Hi anon 🌻 The answer to that is like the answers to other spiritual questions; no one knows for sure. Unless there are people here who have got married after receiving predictions about it, then you can ask them.

But if I could ask tarot about what two people discussed in a meeting and find out I was exactly right, find missing items, read strangers' styles, predict a bad thing that might happen to someone, read the personality of someone's crush/relatives and got them right; I don't see why fs reading cannot work.

But of course, just because it is possible it does not necessarily mean everyone can do it— at all times. The reality is people's tarot skills are on different levels and tarot readers are human beings whose conditions can go up and down no matter how good they are, so the result that they produce may not be the same 24/7. And some 'readers' don't read the cards, they lie and steal.

There is that possibility. PAC readings and readings you do on your own might be, since your subconscious have a lot of influence in the choice/reading itself. But personal readings you get from other tarot readers?

The most you do for a personal reading is give your random details. You don't choose and interpret the cards yourself. We can argue that your perception of the reading you get from the reader is influenced by your subconscious, so there can be bias there; eg. a querent may choose to see "dominant" in their reading as "oh wow he's a CEO" when the reader didn't mention the CEO part at all. Or the querent says their future spouse "does not have control issue" (despite other logical signs that can lead to it showing up in the reading) because it doesn't fit the querent's fantasy. This is bias.

But then again, the likelihood of your projection (specifically) influencing the personal reading itself (i.e the content of the reading) is lesser (or arguably, non-existent) compared to PACs and a reading you do for yourself because of your lack of control over the personal reading; you can't will the 'dominant' part to appear or the 'control issue' to disappear in that reading because you are not the reader here.

I mean, think about it. People who haven't experienced detailed or accurate personal readings (on topics other than fs) from other tarot readers may not believe this. But if you have, holding other variables (eg. health) constant; how come tarot readers can accurately pick up on your life situation, your shadow sides, what you hate to hear, your crush & friends, etc but suddenly it is not possible for them to find out about your possible future spouse?

At this point, the real question is probably "is it possible to get accurate tarot readings from other tarot readers OR is it not possible?"

Option one: If you don't believe you can get tarot readings from other tarot readers because "tarot is an self-introspective tool", "it's only a reflection of our subconscious mind" and "hence a person can only read about themselves" and so on, then you are not standing on the same line of logic that says fs reading is possible. Refusing to believe in fs reading is you being consistent with your logic. You do you.

Option two: If you believe other tarot readers can accurately read about you, about your crush and friends and whatnot, or predict your future in some way, then you are actually standing on the same line of logic that says future spouse reading is possible.

Option three: You could refuse to believe in fs readings while still believe that other topics done by other readers could work for you (feel free, I'm an advocate for mental independence), but if you chose this stance, your logic about this whole thing would not be that consistent. If fs personal readings are not possible, what makes other personal readings you get from tarot readers possible?

I agree 100% about the western promotions. I think they still did well domestically, which I guess is mainly because their KR. fanbase is pretty solid, but I would have also loved to see some more KR. variety shows as well, or even just a studio choom hehe...I love those a lot. I also wonder if the lack of KR. promotions was also because of the spike in COVID cases recently.

My favourite style of edits range from extremely minimalistic ones alllllll to way to very hardcord and grunge ones. I really love dark edits that you would see on graphic t shirts and stuff? (If that makes sense) and I also really adore typography heavy edits!!

As for favourite mingyu and wonwoo moments, I don't have any in particular, but I would say any moment where Wonwoo is teasing Mingyu lol...especially during 17TV days.

My all time favourite Seventeen album is You Make My Day and AL1, but I really love them all..Seventeen has a flawless discography.

Lastly, I love a lot of groups tbh, and if I were to tell you my ult groups, I feel like that would easily rat me out LOL. But I will say that we have a few of them in common :))) Also, your taste....I haven't listened to KBands in so long.....do you have any song recs?

omg so you watched skz when they were on that survival show then, i watched some clips of it after i became a fan and when lino and felix got eliminated and everyone was sad, it made me cry 😭😭 like when chan said to lix, i'm never gonna leave you okay? i was like noooooooo my bbs 😭😭😭 and also i love seeing lino teach the members about their dance moves, like i think there was a moment in the survival show (??) where chan was telling jeongin how to correct his dance moves and lino stepped in and calmly and patiently showed jeongin what to do 🥺🥺 lino dance teacher is one of my fav genres of lino (as if all the genres of lino arent my fav!!). also i was trying to find that clip i was talking about but i couldn't and instead i found this video and omg i made myself cry again ASJDFHAKSD the way that minho was smiling through the pain 😭 minho best boy <3

it has been really fun getting into skz!!! the boys are so talented and funny HAHA and stayblr seems so nice too :)) i felt like i was going insane when i first got into skz because their music is SO GOOD i was listening to it 24/7 and constantly had random parts of songs stuck in my head throughout the day LOL. i'm waiting for the day i can see them live on tour hehe i saw them at kcon la in aug but didn't really know much about them at the time! and besides min, my bias line is also felix and jeongin 🥺🥺 they're such cutieeesss <33 but honestly i love all of them!!! outside of skz though, i also love mark lee from nct a whole lot :(((( and jaemin as well, i think those are my top 3 biases :) it can take a while for a group or a bias to become like top ultimate-tier level for me but when they do there is no going back and i will be loyal forever HAHAHA
