The whump in this show is AMAZING! Main character is very aesthetically pleasing. The villains of the show are pretty messed up though so if you don't like that then it is not recommended.

Gannibal is really a show made specifically for me.

Beautiful outstanding scenery. Farming village and forestry, so many shots are breathtaking. And make me miss home.

Small village suspicious of outsiders- obviously- and cannibalism. While I respect and love 'cannibalism as a metaphor for love', it's plain old consumption. Children are involved (😍), Keisuke is supposed to be ~ different and a more ~ modern heir. More open minded. And more reflective. Yet he is like everyone else, tied to this identity of the 'powerful cannibal family'. The strength his family draws from the practice. He won't stop because he can't stop. There is nothing else for his family, they are nobodys in the outside world, the people in the village are scared of the outside world too. Snake eating its own tail. Literally.

I also appreciate that there is a supernatural/magical aspect but it's more subtle. It's a curse/a haunting but everyone just shrugs and participates in the ritual cause 'we've been doing it for so long and what if the creature gets us?'. Kinda a chicken or egg situation.

I don't see the show as related to Hannibal at all/show, books or movies. To me it's more Shirley Jackson The Lottery and Fall of the House of Usher. Like the cannibalism is less a philosophy of violence or romantic metaphor. It's more about what have we done and what will we do and for what everything is done.

Shows i like, in no particular order and only live action:

- the strain, but only until that one thing happens with Vaun, then I do not like it anymore.

- alice in borderland, including Niragi and everything he does.

- Gannibal. It’s about cannibalism. It’s great.

- kakegurui, I want season 3.

- re:mind, the twists and turns are great.

- justified. The homoerotic tension between Boyd and Raylan is undeniable and fantastic. And Tim Gutterson was meant to be canonically gay but they admitted they intentionally didn’t include that because they’re cowards.

- the expanse. I am so salty that I can’t watch it online.

- battlestar galactica. The show that made me even more unhinged.

- devil judge. Again with the homoerotic tension, also great social commentary.

- fiery priest. I want season 2.

- arthdal chronicles, I love Yang cha.

- penny dreadful. I am not normal about this show.

- what we do in the shadows. Is there another season to come?

- the Orville. My only beef with it is there isn’t enough alara kitan in it.

- suburra blood on Rome. This show makes me go !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

- sweet home. I love love love it.

- semantic error, this show is so cute

- kinnporsche, I haven’t seen all of it but I really like what I’ve seen.

- All of us are dead. This show is dreamy

Gannibal season 2 and Alice in Borderland season 3?

I feel spoiled, this is too good.

I wonder what the 3rd season of AIB's gonna have, since the second already showcased the end of the manga. Maybe a prequel as to what was happening in the real Tokyo, while they were in the Borderlands? That kind of sounds like a completely different show to me and a little boring tbh. Someone said it could focus more on characters like Banda and the rest who didn't leave the Borderlands. I don't really like that version either, AIB without my faves would be a little dull. I hope it's something entirely different. We'll see.

Keisuke is the earthiest of all my blorbos. The man exists and operates on a prehistoric mf plain when none of our present societal conventions existed. Everything about him is so raw. Did I share on here how I had a dream with Keisuke and got to experience how he fucks lol? Daigo, on the other hand, is a man who thrives and rides the conventions of the current society. A wild beast who disguises himself as a member of it, but we've seen by now that he really isn't...

The two are so different yet so similar. Both circling the acceptable bounds of societal norms - Keisuke stomping it in his dirty boots, Daigo tiptoeing it in his polished leather shoes - they converge on the periphery of the civilised society.

Conclusion: a threesome with Keisuke, Daigo and us is in order

Hi there ✌🏻💖 If you're looking for a new show to watch, you should definetely check it out Tokyo Vice on HBO/MAX, it's such a great and ciminally underrated noir about the japanese underworld, the only negative aspect about it is that Ansel Elgort plays the main charater 😬🤮 But you can totally do your best to ignore his existence in favor of another characters like Sato (https://www.tumblr.com/itagakimizuki/748215052630474752/for-anon) who make EVERYTHING worth it.

thank you for the rec but we don't want to watch that show. we're horny for kasamatsu in gannibal and any of his other jdramas and don't care about this one at all. just waiting for the cancelation news soon 🙏

Gannibal Episode 1 Part 1 Commentary, For Fun

Definitely Worth a Watch- Unsettling, creepy and thrilling. I didn't know anything about this show going in, and ultimately, binged it in one day, due to how engrossed I became. The title is similar to cannibal, which I figured was the focus of the plot and it is. It's effective in the mystery-thriller genres, with solid storytelling and a fine production value that incorporates horror elements well.
