the world needs more AUs where mike spends his life wishing he had superpowers because he wants to be special and be a hero, but when he does get them he learns that it's not at all what he thought it'd be. he learns not only about the harsh reality of actually having the power to do something this time but still not being able to, but that powers aren't what make you a hero. that he was special and worthy and a hero to many before he ever gained his powers, etc etc. that it's about your heart, your belief in others, your love for the world, and doing the things that you can do. like, it'd not only be a great character study exercise, but just plain cool as fuck to read/see.
