Anyone else ever think about how Leafpool and Squirrelflight could feel each others emotions and feelings for as long as they can remember and it’s normal for them, it’s comfortable, it’s routine, maybe even mundane at times then Leaf dies and suddenly Squirrelf feels…. less? suddenly life and existence has lost that extra layer it used to have, gone in an instant or maybe slowly, doesn’t matter, it’s gone now, her sister is gone now and no one can understand, no one’s lost this sixth sense like she has
Life feels duller now and everyone says that’s normal after loss but it’s not just that! even over vast distances she could feel Leaf, they could comfort the other without even being in the same place. That weight that she never noticed before, a gentle pressure that’s always been there, layering her with warmth.
It’s gone, Leaf’s gone, and everything is cold.
Squirrelflight and Leafpool’s sisterhood makes me so emotional

I tried to make a family tree for the Tribe and... it's a mess. I didn't realize how few cats there were. Might entirely rework it.

SkyClanPo3 - The Dark Forest
Subject to changes and additions as the story develops. Updated 06/01/24.
I personally never understood why the Dark Forest seemed appealing to cats. The landscape seems very depressing, and I always wondered how Crookedkit mistook it for StarClan. If the club you wanted me to join smelled of rot and was generally gross, you’d have a pretty hard time convincing me to stay. I want to portray the Dark Forest as appealing and alluring to those who seek power, and to be beautiful in an unsettling way.
I imagine the Dark Forest to be a chilly dense forest at midnight, with a pitch-black sky absent of the stars. About half of the forest is marshland, evenly spread throughout the territory, and the branches of the trees start very high up, making it difficult to climb to safety. The heart of the forest (where most events take place in the series) is a rather large clearing with a massive boulder resembling Fourtrees without the titular trees. There are rivers and streams dispersed throughout the forest, and a large pond a bit north of the clearing. If you kept walking in a direction, you’d circle back around after about a day.
Scattered along the forest floors are bioluminescent mushrooms with spores that float in the air like fireflies. There appears to be mist at the edge of the forest, but the mist moves farther away as you walk closer to it. The forest is almost silent, save for the ripples of the rivers and streams. The only source of light is the full moon above that shines just a little dimmer than it should, mostly covered by the leaves. Overall, the forest is a little eerie and a bit unnerving, but it’s rather easy for a new member to grow accustomed to the territory.
StarClan cats faintly glow, are slightly transparent, and have stars in their pelts. Dark Forest cats do not glow, are more transparent, and the edges of their bodies wisp away a bit like smoke. A Dark Forest cat can choose to walk alone or interact with the other residents. Residents can’t kill each other, if a killing strike was dealt to a spirit the wound would quickly stitch itself back together (but not before the cat felt pain and blood was spilled).
A major drawback to the Dark Forest is that while they can observe the Clans similar to StarClan, they can’t send physical signs or omens, and can only communicate through dreams. In order for a Dark Forest cat to walk in the dreams of a living cat, the living cat must either be frustrated or dissatisfied with their life in the Clan or seeking power beyond what their Clan can provide them. The only exception to this is that Dark Forest cats can reach out to their relatives in the living world, but the cat can reject the spirits and seal the Dark Forest from their dreams.
What allows cats to continuously visit the Dark Forest in their dreams is the agreement of the living cat. A Dark Forest cat could ask a seemingly innocent question (example: "do you want me to help you get stronger?"), and if the dreaming cat agrees, a “contract” of sorts is formed, sending the living cat to the Dark Forest whenever they sleep. In order to nullify the “contract”, a cat has to stop wanting to visit the Dark Forest when they sleep and completely reject everything they’ve learned within the forest. Unfortunately, this requires a confrontation with the Dark Forest cat training them, which could turn deadly.
(added june 2024: an idea of what the dark forest looks like. this image is from the pokémon sword and shield glimwood tangle livestream)

SkyClanPo3 - Changes to the Tribe
Note: This is my attempt at trying to fix the insensitivity regarding the Tribe of Rushing Water. I am not Native American or Indigenous, so please feel free to let me know if I made things worse. I only want to make this iteration better and more respectful.
List subject to changes and additions as the story develops. Updated 07/09/24.
General
The Tribe uses the two-part naming system of the Ancients. Brook Where Small Fish Swim is now Little Brook, and Crag Where Eagles Nest is now Crag's Edge. A full list of name changes will be posted in the allegiances.
Kits are not born into duties. A kit becomes a rook at six moons old, and they start training with both guards and hunters. Rooks do not have individual mentors, as every guard and hunter does their part in training a rook. Training takes about eight months, and a rook will choose to specialize in one of the roles once they reach the halfway mark.
However, there is an additional role to the Tribe: the augurs, trained in medicinal and spiritual matters. A rook would start and finish their training as a augur, and not learn any advanced hunting and guarding skills beyond the basics.
All members of the Tribe can communicate with the Tribe of Endless Hunting, but augurs have a stronger connection and are taught to find signs in the living world, as well as interpreting messages given to others.
Stonetellers are not called healers, they are just the Stoneteller.
Cats often travel around and through the mountains, and the Tribe is very hospitable and offers space in the cave to rest, eat, and regain strength (they also love to listen to the traveler’s stories). Occasionally, a traveling cat will join the Tribe, they are very considerate towards outsiders (unlike the Clans).
The Stoneteller
Some sections here are inspired by or taken from Bonefall's AU
The Stoneteller chooses their successor from the current group of augurs. If the Stoneteller dies before making a choice, the eldest augur becomes the next Stoneteller.
When a cat becomes the Stoneteller, they leave their previous identity, name, and relationships behind and receive blessings from the Tribe of Endless Hunting: an extended lifespan of about 25 years, the ability for their ancestors to directly communicate through their body, and invulnerability to sickness, heat, and cold. They receive guidance and training from previous Stonetellers.
Because of the long lifespan of a Stoneteller, the Tribe has an amazing recollection of history and quickly recognize the Clan cats as the descendants of the Sun Trail travelers.
Training to become a augur involves learning the history of the Tribe, and the Stoneteller holds the record of and can recite their entire history, aided by their ancestors.
When a cat ascends to the Stoneteller rank, all familial relationships end. They no longer have parents, siblings, mates, or kits. The Stoneteller is seen as the mother/father/parent of the entire Tribe.
For most family members of the new Stoneteller, this is an adjustment that takes time to get used to, and some will grieve their lost relationship to the Stoneteller.
Tribe Politics
There are three leaders within the Tribe: the lead guard, the lead hunter, and the Stoneteller, with each leader representing the cats of their respective roles. The eldest guard or hunter is typically the lead, but can step down without retiring.
The Tribe is democratic, and every major decision is held to a vote. Leaders do not vote, but the Stoneteller’s vote is used as a tie-breaker if necessary.
Technically, the Stoneteller has the final say on all decisions and has the power to veto, but they tend to go with what the Tribe decides unless absolutely necessary. It is an important quality of a Stoneteller to listen to all the voices of the Tribe, even those they do not personally agree with.
Changes to Moonrise
The silver cat prophecy will be completely overhauled, if not outright discarded. I plan on writing a one-shot covering the events of Moonrise from a Tribe cat's POV, but this is what I have planned for now:
The Tribe has established and proven strategies for killing bears*, and are capable of taking down Sharptooth on their own.
When the sun-drown patrol arrives at the mountains, they accidentally intervene with a patrol of guards attempting to kill Sharptooth, leading to injuries/deaths and letting the beast escape.
This made the situation very dangerous for both the patrol and the Tribe, and the Tribe requests that the Clan cats follow them to their camp and assist them in taking down Sharptooth.
Although the sun-drown patrol objects to their request, the Tribe informs them of Sharptooth's strength, and warns them that Sharptooth would immediately hunt them down and kill them if they attempted to leave now.
*for now, Sharptooth is a bear, subject to change.

SkyClanPo3 - Changes
List subject to changes and additions as the story develops. Updated 08/27/24.
General
She-cat -> Molly
Medicine cat -> Cleric
Permaqueens are given the title of Matron. Ferncloud and Daisy are both ThunderClan matrons.
Most matrons are female, but the same title is applied to all cats, similar to the matron roles in UK hospitals.
At a cleric apprentice’s first half moon meeting, they receive a mentor from StarClan, called a Guide. A guide is usually the most recently deceased cleric of their Clan (typically their mentor’s mentor) but there are exceptions. Guides give advice, relay prophecies, and teach clerics about StarClan. For example, Leafpool’s guide is Spottedleaf, Willowpaw’s guide is Mudfur, and Echosong’s guide is Fawnstep.
Sometimes, lost or abandoned kits are found by Clan cats. They are almost always adopted by a queen, and are usually treated the same as biological kits (depending on their age). These cats are called Foundlings. An example would be Swiftpaw, who was a foundling adopted by Goldenflower and Tigerclaw.
Cats can be LGBTQ+, and this is completely accepted within Clan society without any issues. The Clan cats are commonly xenophobic, but they are not homophobic or transphobic.
Queens do not have to share who sired a litter. Cats usually only get suspicious if they think the kits are Half-Clan.
The founders (Thunder, Tall Shadow, Wind Runner, River Ripple, and Clear Sky) did not receive the -star suffix, like Code of the Clans stated. Their successors did, but the founding five are remembered by their original names (like in Code of the Clans).
Crowfeather’s crush on Feathertail was not reciprocated.
Physical Changes
Generally speaking, the Clans have different body types to suit their different environments. Of course, this does not apply to every cat within a Clan, but the idea of the average cat differs between the Clans.
ThunderClan cats have an average build, but with more muscle. They have a wide variety of skills (with a focus on battling) and are not as specialized as the other Clans.
ShadowClan cats are smaller and more compact with webbed feet. It's said that their size is due to the harsh territories they reside in and a lack of bountiful prey (especially in the forest territory). Their webbed feet help them travel across the marshland.
WindClan cats are taller and leaner with longer legs, larger ears, and shorter fur. This allows them to stride across the moors with ease.
RiverClan cats tend to be larger (and fatter) with wide paws and long, glossy pelts. This helps them swim in the water and insulate heat. They are often the most well-fed Clan.
Ancient SkyClan cats were similar to ThunderClan, but with stronger hind legs and longer claws. They were easily able to climb any tree and launch themselves out of trouble.
Modern SkyClan has a lot of variety due to their different backgrounds, and they do not have a common build.
SkyClan
Creekfeather -> Mistfeather. This establishes where Mistfeather comes from (instead of being introduced and dying in The Apprentice’s Quest) and helps me not confuse him for Crowfeather. Additionally, Creekfeather vanishes without a note after SkyClan's Destiny, giving me an opportunity to insert Mistfeather where he was.
Frecklewish -> Frecklewing. Why are there two cats named Frecklewish?
Blossomheart and Cloudmist have been fused into a new cat: Lilykit. Daughter of Sharpclaw and Cherrytail, she is a white molly with blue eyes. The two sisters have been combined to slightly reduce numbers, and because they have the same prefixes as Blossomfall and Cloudtail.
Speaking of Sharpclaw and Cherrytail, I have decided to make Cherrytail's former mentor Patchfoot, so it's not weird anymore. Sharpclaw mentored Rockshade instead.
Tinycloud has a different mate - Shrewtooth. The walking ball of anxiety is the father of Pebblekit and Parsleykit, preventing Pebbleshine and Hawkwing from being cousins.
Spottedleaf did not give Leafstar a life, though she was present for the ceremony. Instead, Clear Sky gave her a life for strength.
Honeytail -> Ambertail. She shared the same prefix as Honeyfern (who takes priority).
Sandynose, Birdwing, and Ambertail are from Dodge's group. They decided to sneakily follow SkyClan back to the gorge at four moons old, and were pseudo-adopted by Clovertail. They aren’t considered foundlings, but Clovertail liked to take care of them as SkyClan’s matron.
(I feel like everyone in present-day SkyClan is related to Clovertail, and I wanted to remedy that)
Skypelt and Silverpelt
SkyClan cats do not go to Silverpelt when they die, they go to Skypelt instead (name taken from @ bonefall).
Skypelt is a lush autumn forest at dawn, with warm light filtering through the leaves and a gentle breeze flowing through the trees. At the center of the forest is a gorge with a creek, cutting deep into the earth with lots of rocky ledges to climb. There is often birdsong in the forest, and plenty of prey rustling beneath the leaf covered forest floors.
Skypelt is separate from Silverpelt, and cats from Silverpelt can only walk in Skypelt through an invitation. The cats present for Leafstar’s nine lives were invited for the ceremony and vanished once completed.
Birdflight, Gorseclaw, and Spottedpelt can walk freely between the two, spending most of their time in Skypelt.

There will be three, kin of your kin, who hold the power of the stars in the sky…
Fate is a tricky thing. A minor change in the story can lead to unexpected and unpredictable outcomes that shape the world and rewrite the future.
What if Midnight decided not to warn two wayward lovers about an army of badgers, and instead contacted unexpected allies?
What if the spirits lie, berate, and chastise their savior, only to lose their influence over her?
What if Leafpool truly followed her heart?
Welcome to SkyClanPo3.

it’s been a while!
slowly but surely I am still working on this au, and I have more free time now. I’m working on the plot and timeline and such, but in the meantime I think I might post some larger and general changes in a post later this week, like some general changes made to the world as a whole (and especially to the tribe, even if they don’t show up at first. we’ll see).

Sometimes I think about how Leafpool DISCOVERED THE MOONPOOL and how she SHOULD HAVE BEEN treated like a second coming of Moth Flight and then she had to go through all of THAT and was almost sent to the DARK FOREST like C'MON if ANYONE should have been able to change the archaic medicine cat code it should have been Leafpool, discoverer the moonpool, one of the, if not the single most important medicine cats of all time.
