The Godzilla Minus One soundtrack is phenomenal, but my favorite one is the 3rd track âConfusionâ
Just a single, continuous note that throughout starts to become a prominent low ringing in your ears mimicking that pure, panicked, adrenaline-fueled feeling of being hunted down by a massive predator
There could have been standard âFast-Paced Chase Scene Musicâ playing during the scene, but with this track makes it 100x more tense and unnervingâŠ

Chapter Description:
âTillâ death do us part.â
I inhaled, a deep pungent scent of rotting flesh had filled my nostrils. My eyes shot open, but my vision was still blurry as I gagged. I turned my head to look at where I was, and then realizing that I was tied up to a thin post, seated on the floor, with my legs sprawled out. I struggled out of it, but it only made loud chain noises that resounded throughout the eerie room. I breathed out, sighing as I cursed myself for getting into this life and death situation again.
As my vision began to clarify, I found myself in a dim-lit room. The walls, a dusty gray color, with cracks infesting each corner. The window right in front of me, multiple panes were cracking, they were dusty, but it was the only source of light in the room. The floor, an eerie black and white checkered pattern. Each white tile revealed stains of blood, each crevice between the tiles had decaying flesh in it. It had bits and pieces of human flesh that I couldnât pin point which body part it came from. The room, as I looked around, had seats surrounding the walls, it was much like an auditorium, but the stage wasnât in the frontâit was in the middle, where I was.
Suddenly, the sound of chains clanging together behind me made me freeze. My breath hitched, as the sound of a low grunt came from behind me. âAre you awake now?â, the low and groggy voice asked which sent shivers down my spine. I was silent, my throat unable to utter a word as fear shoved each word back into it.
âPrince Ryosuke, are you fucking awake now?!â, their voice was tainted with a deep color of anger. Grudge was evident in just their voice, and I knew exactly who it was. âY-yesâŠâ, I croaked out. âAh, I wish I didnât make you speak anymore.â, he said. âThe silence in this room where I could only hear my breathing was better than knowing that you were alive.â, he said. I gulped, looking down, unable to face him.
âTakeo, I donât know what you want from me.â, I said, my voice raspy under my breath. He then croaked out a sinister laugh, âYou donât know?â. He laughed again, âYou donât know?!!â. And again, this time, with a loud and aggravated voice, âYOU DONâT FUCKING KNOW?!!â. I then heard chains clanging against each other again, making me turn my head behind me to see what I wish I didnât see.
He was tied up to another pole across mine, but he was facing me. The areas around his mouth, tinted red as it was evident that he had just drank blood. The veins on his forehead were popping out in anger, and his teeth were grinding against each other as his eyes pierced through me.
âI WANT YOU FUCKING DEAD.â, he shouted.
I felt my stomach drop as his voice made the hairs on my skin stand. My eyes drooped down, fear wanting to drag me down with it. Silence then filled the room, where I could only hear my coarse breathing, and his heavy breathing. I was looking away, but I could feel his piercing gaze on me. Like a wooden stake, it impaled me, I was stuck on the ground, unable to move in fear of getting more hurt.
âDo you know how much it hurt?â, he suddenly said. âDo you know how much it hurt to see his family again after what happened?â, he said, his voice shaky as crying was evident. Family. That struck the stake deeper in me. âHis wife was crying. His two daughters were crying. They couldnât even see his face!â, he shouted, aggravated. I felt guilt creep up behind me, haunting me, saying that all of this was my faultâbut the pride in me remained stagnant. I wanted to tell him what had happened, I wanted to clarify any confusion, but I knew he wouldnât believe me.
âHe was unrecognizable! His daughters couldnât even cry in the beginning, because they didnât know if this man was their father or not.â, he said, his mouth spitting fire to my vulnerable self. âThey only believed it was him when they found the bracelet that they made for him on his wrists; stained with blood, the tiny photo of them in the heart locket was stained with red.â, he said.
âHe was my friend even before we surrendered to the hospital together.â, he said. My eyes shot back up, as the new information left me broken. âI told him that we shouldnât surrender. Itâs just two weeks anyway! But his wife wouldnât take the risk, and it didnât look like he was too.â, he said. âAnd now, I fucking regret that we did. She regrets it more than I do, for sure.â, he said. âBut now I regret nothing more than befriending someone like you.â, his words stung me. I felt the venom pierce through my skin and run through my veins. It was intoxicating, it was making my mind go insane by the secondâI felt myself crumble away.
With that, a tear fell from my eye. I felt the guilt, I felt the weight, I felt every bit of anger he was trying to convey. âSo, youâre crying now?â, he chuckled, âI didnât know a heartless person like you would be able to do that.â.
âI just wanted to help.â, I cried. He then laughed, scorning me, âAnd what can a puny guy like you do to help a dying person??â. âListen, I genuinely wanted to help.â, I said, then biting the inside of my cheek. âBUT HE GOT KILLED.â, he spat at me, âIf you hadnât come along, he would have died a peaceful death, he would have lived a life as a vampire, he would have lived! Anything better than his face being crushed into the ground by that bitch!â.
âIâm sorry.â, I cried.
âYouâre sorry?â, he mocked me, âYouâre sorry??â. âThis isnât a wound you could easily place a band-aid on and add a motherâs kiss on it to make it feel better, Prince Ryosuke.â, he mocked me. âThis world isnât that of what you thought it was.â, he said. I began to become baffled with his words.
âThe world behind your bodyguards, outside your sparkling outfits, off your high-budgeted stages, and the world we are in right now is different.â, he said. âYou canât just kiss the ass of your audience to make up for the shit you do.â, he added, which started to make me irritated. What does he know about my âworldâ, or my life? He knows nothing.
âStopâŠâ, I said, and he laughed at me. âIâm not your slave, like the rest of Japan is.â, he mocked. âShut upâŠâ, I said under my breath. âIâm not bowing down to a low person like you who pretended to help but only got a person killed.â, he mocked, âHow stupid is that!â. âShut up.â, I said. âOh, look at me, Iâm Ryosuke Yamada. Iâm an idol who thinks I can do everything perfectly! I can help! I can help! MY ASS.â, he mocked. âShut up!â, I growled. âAnd most of all, Iâm with my trusty old group who supports me just because Iâm famous! Theyâre just a bunch of slaves to me!!!â, he mocked.
âSHUT THE FUCK UP!â, I shout.
âI wanted to help!â, I cried, as he scoffed, âSure you did.â. âI didnât help because I wanted to show how courageous I was, or because I wanted to gain fame.â, I said, âI helped because I saw it in his eyes that he needed help.â. Takeo grew silent as he unexpectedly allowed me to speak. âHe regretted that he drank blood. He regretted that he made that mistake. You could see it in his eyes when he was having his transition!â, I raised my voice.
âI just wanted him to see his family again.â, I cried.
âWhat the fuck is going on?!â, a voice of a man exclaimed as a door opened and shut behind me. âYou two are up already??â, another one said. I turned to look, and I saw two men in tattered gray clothing. One of them was taller, and the other one shorter. They were carrying two tin bowls, as the short one approached me. âI bet you guys are starving.â, he had an eerie grin on his face.
âBon AppĂ©tit!â, he laughed and dropped the bowl, on my legs as it spilled everywhere. It looked like the same soup we were having in the hospitalâbut more viscous, and chunky. It was disgusting. I gagged as a reflex from the mix of scent from the room and the putrid food, âGod, sorry if this isnât five-star cooking, Master.â, he mocked and laughed as he walked away.
Suddenly, a sinister, and prideful laugh came from outside the room which left all of us frozen. âShit, master is here!â, the tall one cursed. âWe should have just fed them earlier!â, the short one said. âWhat do we do?! They havenât eaten yet!â, he said. âJustâŠâ, the tall one thought, âJust fucking stuff it in their mouth!â.
With that, the short man grabbed the bowl from my lap and jammed the rim of the bowl into my mouth. I muffled a curse as he tilted the bowl, pouring the sickening soup into my mouth. I hadnât had the chance to breath, I began choking on the lumps, some of it ending up in my airway. I began coughing, some of the soup in my mouth, dripping down my chin then down to my neck. I heard muffles and curses too from behind me, assuming Takeo had the bowl stuffed in his mouth too.
The door swung open, and the two men dropped the tin bowls on the ground, the sound of the metal hitting the floor resounded around the room. âMaster.â, they both bowed. I turned to look, and I found the man I was dreading the most.
Sato.
âGood evening, gentlemen.â, his deep voice sent chills down my spine. âAnd good evening,â, I felt him behind me, my breath faster now, and my chest hurting as it beat quicker in fear. âBait.â, he said, as he stomped on my hands that were tied. I grunt in pain as he began trampling my hands under his boots. âLook, Takeo! This is what Y/N did to Naokiâs face, remember?!â, he mocked, as Takeo growled.
âShe stomped.â, he said as he added force to my hands, âAnd stomped.â, he said, lifting his foot up, and then stomping on my hand again. I shrieked in pain, earning a hefty laugh from him, âAnd stomped.â, his foot rose again and added more force into the last one as my eyes started to tear up and my shouts of agony and pain began raising in volume.
âSir Sato? Youâre already starting the show without us?â, another voice came from the door, and as I turned around, I found the same men I saw that day who were attacking Y/Nâonly there were more. They were wearing cloaks that had a deep red lining on it. Most of their hoods were on, only a few facial features were visible, but their skin looked cold and gray.
âDonât worry, itâs only the start anyway.â, he said.
He crouched down to my level and he murmured, âRight?â, sending chills down my spine and earning a laugh from him. âSit down, sit down! There are plenty of seats to watch!â, he said, with a smile on his face. âSo, Sir Sato, who is the prey tonight?â, one man approached him, âThis one, right here.â, he nudged my waist with his boot. âAnd how about the other one?â, the man asked, âWeâll let him feast on this one if he controls himself.â, he replied. I gulped, worrying on what he will do to both of usâbut having the idea that I will die tonight.
âLadies, and gentlemen.â, he raised his arms, while slowly turning around the room. âItâs a pleasure to see you all tonight, to witness the tremendously breath-taking, and terrifically horrid death,â, he hung off his words as he turned to face me, âOf our favorite sparkling prince, Ryosuke Yamada.â. The people laughed, mocking me, and pointing at me.
âQuiet down now, quiet down.â, he said as the crowd hushed. âThe rules are as they were the last time.â, he said. âNo one gets to interrupt the performance,â, he emphasized on the word âperformanceâ, as the crowd giggled to itself. âAnyone who starts to have pity for the prey must leave the room immediately.â, he said. âAnd last, but certainly not the least,â, he hung off his words.
âNo one eats, until I say so.â
I gulped, feeling my stomach drop and my skin grow cold. My eyes would not look far from the floor as tears began to well up. Iâm afraid. I am afraid. I am afraid. I donât want to die. I do not want to die. I do not want to die.
âNow, shall we continue the show now?â, he raised the crowdâs excitement.
He then turned to me with a sinister grin on his face as I jolted, feeling someone fondle with the chains tying my hands. After a moment, my hands were released, and my reflex was to bring them closer to me and rub my red wrists. They were sore, and it was weaker after losing some circulation from the tightness of the chains.
Sato laughed, his hand on his chest as he leaned back. âThis will be fun.â, he said as he lifted his boot up, and then looking at me with mocking eyes as he stomped his foot down on my hands, making it drop onto my crotch. I shout in agony as he twisted his boot around to push it harder. âFuck!â, I shouted, as the crowd laughed. âKick him in the head!â, one shout, and I turned to look at who had said that, until I felt his full weight on my hands and crotch as he used his other boot to kick me on the side of my face.
The impact made my body fall to its side, my head banging the floor harshly. Tears began welling up in my eyes as I closed them, letting them drip onto the floor. âLook everyone! The first tear of the night!â, he mocked as the crowd laughed. He then kicked me in the stomach, making me cough out and feel blood coming up my throat. I swallowed it in, as I built a steady wall for me. I couldnât give up now.
He once again, kicked me in the stomach, this time, making me curl up and hold it with my hands. I swallowed everything in. I was shaking in pain. âCome on, give us what we want.â, he taunted me as I shook my head no. He then swung his foot behind him, and proceeded to kick me in the stomach again with even more impact, as I finally felt the blood come up to my mouth.
âThere it is.â, he smiled, as the crowd gasped in amusement. âThe first drop of blood of the night.â, he said, as I felt the blood seep through my teeth. âY/N would love to see that, wouldnât she?â, he said, and I froze. My heart beat started to bet rapidly as my breathing was coarse, just because of the thought of her.
Y/N. Her name so soft on my tongue yet so impactful in my mind. Her name is the definition of uncertainty in my dictionary. My heart yearned for her and yet each cell on my body loathed her. She used me. She used me. She used meâwas what I thought. But, she loved me. She loved me. She loved meâwas what my heart argued.
He swung his leg behind him, and he kicked me again. I coughed out blood, and it spilled onto the floor in splatters as the crowd gasped in amusement. Then, I felt people behind me lift me up from the ground, and dragging me to sit on a chair. The seat was wooden, with a flimsy metal framework. It had stains of blood on it, which I assume soon, itâll be mine.
She used me.
I lifted my eyes, looking at him as I found him holding a bat of some sort. He eerily smiled, as he held the bat with his two hands. I shook my head no, to plead him not toâbut when did he ever care? He swung the bat to my arm, I felt blood rush to the spot immediately. He swung the bat to my shin, and I felt the bone crack. I shout in pain as the crowd laughed in amusement. âHit him one more time!â, one said.
She loved me.
He swung the bat on the same area one more time and I felt the awful sting in my flesh as a fracture form my bone pierced through it little by little. My bone was broken. The crowd cheered, and clapped, enjoying the torture I was experiencing in this damned place. He lifted his foot up again, and stomped on foot of the same leg I had broken a bone in. I cried in agony, as the crowd gasped and laughed in amusement. Then, a man stood up from the audience and proceeded to leave the room, squinting his eyes in pity for me. We had eye-contact for a second, and he pursed his lips, and slightly bowed his head, in encouragement for me.
She used me.
He swung the bat again, on the same spot he hit me on the arm earlier. He then hit me on the other arm, I felt blood rushing there. I kept grunting, shouting, and crying in pain as he started hitting me on my stomach, my legs, my lap, my shoulders, my arms. I felt like he had broken every bone on my bodyâexcept for my head.
She loved me.
âAnyone ready to see the star of the show?â, he asked the crowd and the crowd shouted an anticipating yes. He laid the bat on his shoulder, and I breathed in and closed my eyes, a tear dropping as I waited for death to arrive. I felt my life pass by the darkness behind my eyelids. From my first memory of laying on top of my fatherâs stomach, to my last memory of being dragged into trouble because I loved a damn girl. But then again, if loving her was this wrong, then I donât want to be right.
She used me.
Right before I felt him swing the bat, I heard the sound of glass shattering in front of me. When I hesitantly opened my eyes, I found what seemed like my saving grace in front of me. It was Y/N, Fukushi, and all the other vampires in the compound, breaking through the glass window to enter the room.
She loved me.
âWhat the fuckâŠâ, Sato cursed as Fukushi gripped on the bat with his hand, and kicked him in the stomach. The crowd gasped and started panicking, trying to escape the room. âWhat are you, a bunch of cowards?! Attack them!â, he shouted at his steeds but in fear, they only backed away. To compare the amount of people who broke into the room and the crowd, it was like they were 200 against 100.
Y/Nâs group began spreading and attacking the people in the crowd. Kicking, punching, clawing, biting, they let each one of them fall onto the ground one-by-one.
âRyosuke!â, the sweet angelic voice I had missed called for me. âY/NâŠâ, I croaked out as she approached me with open arms as she was ready to catch me from falling off the chair, trying to walk to her. She caught me, in her arms which I considered as my home in this pit of hell. My face fit in the crook of her neck as she stroked the back of my head. âItâs okay, Ryosuke. Itâs okay. Iâm here.â, she kissed my cheek that Sato had kicked earlier.
Her touch made it feel like I was healing again. I felt my walls break as I fell frail in her arms; I began to cry. âBaby, we need to get out of here.â, she cupped my face, as I wept and looked into her concerned eyes. âNot so fast.â, Sato said, and both of our eyes turned to him. Our eyes widened, as we found Fukushiâs body falling on the ground with the bat impaled through his chest.
He was dead.
âFUKUSHI!â, Y/N cried out as Sato laughed a prideful laugh. âWhoâs next?â, he asked, and the group stepped back, feeling fear creep up to them as they found his bloody teeth and veiny face sinister. Y/N quickly slipped her arm under my legs, and her other arm on my back as she carried me. âIâm sorry I left you.â, she kissed the tip of my nose.
On that note, she ran out through the window, a few shards grazed her on her cheeks, but no bit of pain made her flinch. She ran, and ran, and ran through the forest, trying to lose Sato. But we both knew, that he was near behind us.
It wasnât the time for this at all, but I could only admire her face as she was running. Under the eerie moonlight seeping through the leaves of the trees, and under the stress both of us were in, seeing her was my hint of refuge. She was gasping for air, but I couldnât do anything. I felt useless in her arms.
Suddenly, a kick to her face sent her tumbling down to the ground, but she cradled my head in her chest as her body skidded on the grass, hitting her back onto a tree. She grunted in pain as she let go of me. I sat up, and rubbed her back, âY/N, are you okay??â, I asked her. Just then, Sato caught up and kicked me at my waist. The strong kick sent me side-wards, hitting the ground hard with my head as I had a concussion.
âRyosu-â, her words were immediately cut with a fist to her face, her nose bleeding almost instantly. He took a stone from the ground, and raised it up above her, and then slamming down to her chest. She coughed in agony as he laughed at her pain. âSee how it hurts, huh?!â, he asked, âCan you see how much it hurts??!!â.
I couldnât bear just watching her get hurt, so with my hands, I grabbed onto the ground to pull me towards her. My legs could only follow behind me as my sore arms carried my body. The soil would seep into the cuts on my hands and under my nails. Before he could hit her again, I had covered her with my torso, my back facing him. The stone struck me on my spineâI heard it break.
I couldnât feel my legs.
Her face was shocked, as my eyes widened. My mouth couldnât replicate my screams of pain inside. It could only open, and my eyes could only water. I fell onto her as she quickly covered my spine, preventing Sato from hitting it again. The stone hit her hands, but she only flinched a bit in pain.
âRyosukeâŠâ, she cried, and in one swift move, she laid me on the ground, stood up, and kicked Sato in the face. âDONâT FUCKING TOUCH HIM!â, she shouted as he was sent flying backwards, hitting the ground with his body. She stood before him, stomping hard on his crotch, and him shrieking in pain.
He grabbed onto her leg, pulling her to make her fall downâbut she did not budge. He slowly stood up, piercing Y/N with his eyes. âWhat are you, his mother?â, he mocked her, and jabbed her in the face, which she had luckily avoided. She inhaled, and jabbed him in the chest. She exhaled, and followed that up with a jab to the jaw.
He avoided her next hit, as he punched her in the face, and followed that up with an upper-cut, sending her backwards. He pushed her up a tree, barks of the tree scratching on the back of her head. He held her up by her neck, choking her as her body flailed under him. Her face slowly turned red, and before it could turn blue, she jabbed her knee to his crotch.
âShit.â, he cursed. As he crouched down, Y/N kicked his head, sending him backwards onto the ground. As she was trying to catch her breath, her vision blurring, Sato began to stand up. âY/N, look out!!â, I croaked out, and as her head lifted up, Sato had a jagged stone in his hand, ready to hit her.
She swung her leg from the side to kick his hand, letting the rock fall far from reach. She spun around, and used her other leg to kick him in the face; his nose began to bleed. She followed that up with a punch to his face again with her opposite hand. The punch so hard that you could hear her knuckles pop and his face smash beneath it.
As Sato fell to the ground, Y/N ran over to me, slipping her arm under my legs and the other under my torso. âY/N, youâre bleedingâŠâ, I said, cupping her face, and she jerked it away, âNo shit.â. She began running, getting faster and faster by the second as she ran deeper into the forest. She found an open area, where light wasnât blocked out by trees. She quickly ran towards it, but as she neared to it, she realized that it was a cliff.
Suddenly, she was screaming in pain, as blood spewed everywhere from her shoulders. The warm liquid splattered onto my face, dripping down to where my mouth was. I pursed my lips, and closed my eyes to avoid the temptation to drink.
She let go of my body, letting me fall onto the grass. And as I look up, I find the bloody Sato behind her with his fingers dug deep into her shoulders. Her mouth was agape, her eyes wide open. Her throat could not mimic the pain she felt inside.
âY/N!â, I shout as her eyes slowly diverted to me, a single tear dripping down.
Fuck. Sato pulled out his fingers, the blood had reached his knucklesâthatâs how deep they were. He pushed them inside again, this time into her chest where the apex of her heart was. He grunted, gripping into her insides as blood stained his hands a deep color of red. She gulped, her breathing coarse and her skin losing it color as blood rapidly gushed out of the holes he had made. He pulled his fingers out one-by-one, and in one swift move, he kicked the back of her knees, making her fall on top of my body. I wrapped my hands around her, crying as I didnât know what I could do for her.
He stomped on my already injured fingers, making me let go of her. He kicked her off of me but as she rolled off, I grabbed onto her arm, pulling myself up to protect her. âItâs okay Y/N, Iâm here, Iâm here.â, I smiled, and then staying above her, my arms on both sides of her to support myself. Her eyes were staring at the sky, her breathing rough as tears and blood fused into one. Sato kicked me once, but I did not budge. I couldnât just break down.
He raised his foot again, and then pushing it down onto my already broken back, tears easily flowing out of my eyes. He raised his foot again, stomping it down, until finally, my arms gave up, and I had dropped onto Y/Nâs body. He kicked me off of her, laughing and mocking me as I coughed out blood. He kicked, and kicked, and kicked, a trail of blood followed my body as it was pushed backwards, and backwardsâuntil I felt the edge of the cliff.
My eyes widened as I felt that emptiness behind me. He laughed as he took a glimpse of my face. âIâll save you for later.â, he said, and then turning around to walk back to Y/N. âDONâT FUCKING TOUCH HER.â, I croaked out, only letting blood spew out some more.
He suddenly brought out a wooden stake, its point sharp enough to pierce through human flesh smoothly without effort. He had his eerie grin, blood evident on his teeth. âDoes it hurt?â, he maniacally laughed, âDOES IT HURT?!â. Y/Nâs eyes diverting to me as tears her warm tears fell onto the grass and her blood flooded the clothes on her and my own body.
âI love you.â, she mouthed.
He raised his leg up high, and he stomped at his utmost power on her stomach, blood immediately ejecting from her mouth. âNO!â, I shouted, trying to grab on the grass to pull towards her, but there wasnât anything left in me anymore. And finally, he brought the stake up high, and was about to kill my only refuge.
But then that momentary action was stopped, as he was suddenly pushed to the ground. His body skidded through the grass as he cursed. His eyes lifted to see who it was who had pushed him,
It was Takeo.
Takeo walked up to him, anger and rage in his eyes. He brought Sato up, holding him by his collar. He punched him, and punched him, and punched him; Satoâs face was already unrecognizable at this point. He tried to punch back, only being shot down with a knee to his crotch. Takeo practically dragged him, pulled him towards the cliff, where I was.
âT-Takeo?â, I dared to speak. His eyes diverted to me, and then he smiled. He turned back to Sato again, punching him. His eyes widened as he felt himself losing his balance. In one sudden move, Sato smiled as he fell backwards into the cliff, and then he grabbed onto mine and Takeoâs foot.
âFuck!â, I said, as his grip was on a body part I couldnât control anymore. Takeo, using his other foot, kicked his grip off of my foot as Sato fell further down into the cliffâhe was dragging Takeo down with him. He dragged him down with him, and I took the initiative to hold onto Takeoâs hand.
I had no energy left in me, I felt our hands slip away. âTakeo, t-the ground! H-hold onto it!â, I shouted, but he only chuckled. âThere isnât anything I want to do as a vampire anyway.â, he said. âWhat??â, I furrowed my brows together, and attempted to pull him up.
Suddenly, Sato was using Takeoâs body to climb up, and he was already at his waist. âLet go!â, Takeo said, and I shook my head, âN-no! I canât! You h-helped me!â. âCan you stop being so fucking dramatic and just let go?!â, he shouted, as I attempted to pull him up. Sato reached for his shoulders, trying to pull himself up.
âI thought about it,â, he hung off his words as he was gasping for air, âsaving your precious bitch was the least I could do for you for saving Naoki.â. I tilted my head in confusion as he chuckled. Sato lifted himself up, his head was now below his shoulders. âI would never want Naoki to go through this vampire shit. I wouldnât want him to suffer like I did.â, he said.
And then Sato had finally reached his shoulders, about to take a bite when at that moment, Takeo had his final words before letting go.
âThank you.â
And with that, both of them fell off the cliff. Their bodies fell into a rocky ditch, and in a few seconds, both of their bodies disappeared into thin air through the gray dust of their corpses. My tears welled up, dripping one-by-one. I felt myself cry because of pain; the pain on my back, the pain on my face, the pain in my stomach, I didnât even know if I could ever walk again. I felt myself cry because of the pain; I lost Naoki, I lost Fukushi, I lost Takeoâand now Iâm about to lose Y/N.
âR-RyosukeâŠâ, I heard her voice. I turned to see her crawling to me, coughing along the way. âAre you okay, honey?â, she reached out to me, as I used my arms to drag me to her. âY/NâŠâ, I cried, as she sat on her legs, and opened her arms. I fell into her arms as she cried with me. I wrapped my arms around her shoulders, pulling her closer. âI thought I was going to lose you.â, I cried, âBaby, Iâm a vampire, donât you remember?â, she chuckled.
âBut your legsâŠâ, she pointed out, and I gulped. âI-Itâs fineâŠâ, I stammered, and she shook her head, âNo, itâs not.â. âHow are you going to work?â, she furrowed her eyebrows together as she looked at my legs. She lifted me, letting me lay on her lap, her arm supporting my back. âThis is all my fault.â, she said, tears dripping down her cheeks and onto me.
âNo, itâs my fault. I didnât believe you. I ran away. I got caught. Now, weâre in this shit.â, I said. I cared about my legs, I was worried too. I wondered if I would still be able to work, to dance, to perform. I wanted to have my normal life againâbut that was long gone when I was brought into this compound. Silence grew between us, as Y/N looked sternly at my legs.
âRyosuke, drink.â, she said.
âW-what?â, I was bewildered. âDrink.â, she said as she pulled down her shirt from her shoulders to reveal her bleeding wounds. âNo, no, I canât.â, I shook my head. âIf a-anything, you s-should be d-drinking from m-meâŠâ, I said. âI can heal later on, you are my priority right now.â, she said, cupping my face and lifting it up to face her.
âRyosuke, I donât want you to die.â, she cried.
âI c-canât, Y/NâŠâ, I cried, âI donât w-want to take the r-risk.â. âHeyâŠâ, she said, âTrust me on this.â. I looked down, uncertain on my decisions. She turned my head to look at her again and she smiled, âIf I drink from you, will it make you feel better?â. I thought for a while, thinking if I should really trust her on this, that I will not die, that I will live, that I will be able to see her again.
âYesâŠâ, I said.
And with that, she lifted me up, her face on my shoulder, and my face on her shoulder. I could smell the tempting scent of blood. It was a magnet to me. Before we could take a bite, she broke the silence with a chuckle, âRemember what I told you before?â. I hummed in reply. âThat vampires drink each otherâs blood in their wedding ceremony?â, she giggled. My cheeks were flushed with red as I realized that that is in connection to what we were about to do.
âTillâ death do us partâŠâ
And with that, she pierced her fangs into my skin, the familiar sting was inflicted on my shoulder as I hissed. She began sucking a few second after and I stared at her bloody shoulder, waiting for my courage to come back. I gulped, sticking out my tongue slowly, and lowering my head to her shoulder. And as the first speck of blood touched my tongue,
Darkness filled my eyes.
I opened my eyes, and I was met with the familiar dark void I was in in every dream I had in this compound. I looked around, searching for the table, expecting that there would be something thereâbut there wasnât. âHello?â, I called out, my voice only echoing through the area. I walked around, feeling like nothing is around me. It was literally a void.
âHello?â, I called out again, and then suddenly an apparition of myself appeared in front of me. Suddenly, my body felt cold. My surroundings were getting colder and colder by the second as the apparitionâs eyes pierced right through me.
âHello.â, he said, an eerie smile spread across its face. âDo you miss your family?â, he asked, and I didnât hesitate to nod. Then suddenly, their apparitions appeared behind him. âMom! Dad! Chihiro! Misaki!â, I called for them and they all smiled and nodded. I smiled, feeling warm again inside.
âDo you miss your groupmates?â, he asked, and I nodded. He smiled and one-by-one, each member of my group appeared behind him. âG-guys!â, I smiled, and they all smiled and nodded. âWe missed you, YamaâŠâ, Yuto said, and I genuinely smiled. âItâs not the same without you.â, Yuri added. The rest of them hummed and nodded in agreement.
âDo you love Y/N?â, he tilted his head down as he asked. âYes.â, I confidently said as he chuckled. âThatâsâŠâ, he hung off his words. And suddenly, he was right behind me and my eyes widened as he whispered into my ears,
âPitiful.â.
I turned around to see he was gone. I turned again, to see only him⊠and Y/N. âHi, RyosukeâŠâ, she smiled and waved. Her smile was that same smile I saw that day when we were overlooking the compound. It gave that same feeling of warmth, that sweetness I have missed for a night of terror.
âDo you want to live?â, he asked me, and I nodded. He grinned, and had his hands behind his back as he walked nonchalantly around, my eyes following him. âYou want to work again? To sing, and dance on stage? To act?â, he asked me, and I nodded. âYou want to grow old? To get married? To have a family one day?â, he asked me, and I looked at Y/N. I nodded.
âThen bite.â
In a blink of an eye, Y/Nâs shoulder was right below my eyes, my chin touching it. âBite.â, he repeated as my eyes widened. âNo.â, I sternly said as he taunted me. âBite.â, he repeated. âNo! I canât hurt her anymore!â, I shout at him. âBite.â, he repeated as uncertainty started flooding my brain.
If I bit her, I would live to see another day. If I didnât bite her, she wouldnât get hurt. If I bit her, I would see my group again. If I didnât bite her, she wouldnât get hurt. If I bit her, I would see my family again. If didnât bite her, she wouldnât get hurt.
If I bit her, I would see her again.
âBite.â, he repeated.
I opened my mouth, letting my fangs grow, the feeling of extra large teeth in my mouth was new to meâyet so amusing. I felt my eyes burn, assuming they had turned red. My eyes looked down as I gazed at her clean shoulder. âIâm sorry, babyâŠâ, I said under my breath, as I finally punctured her shoulder with my fangs; she hissed in pain.
The feeling of warm blood flooding onto my tongue so foreign yet so addicting to me. It was like it was the water to quench my thirst. Like the food to sate my hunger. Like a lover to satisfy my lust. I sucked, gripping onto her shoulders as I felt myself being drawn into her.
And suddenly, she held onto my shoulder to gently pull me out of her. She cupped my face to face her, and she smiled. I smiled in return, as she inched closer to me, and then slowly closed the space between us with a kiss. Ringing started to resound in my head and I furrowed my brows as we kissed.
Until I blacked out.
I opened my eyes, realizing that I was lying down on the grass, and it was already dawn. What I could only see was Y/Nâshe was kissing me. I closed my eyes and sat up, cupping her face. She smiled into the kiss as she slots her lips between mine. Her lips were soft, the cuts that were there before werenât felt as I assumed she had healed already.
Her skin under my fingers, so clean, as if she hadnât been beaten up by her sworn enemy just a moment ago. I reached up to her hair, so smooth, like she hasnât been tackled to the ground. She was the one I saw that first day she hypnotized me. She was the one I saw that morning when I woke up in her bed. She was the one, she was the one.
In addition to that, I could feel my legs. There was not sore cut on my body. I felt renewed, like I was regenerated. I still had doubtsâam I really alive? Is this all a dream? Am I a vampire? I would think of those as I kissed her, but just feeling her lips on mine felt so right that it couldnât be a dream, I must be alive. Her skin so warm on my own warm skin that I just couldnât be a vampire either.
We hesitantly pulled away, catching out breath and slowly opening our eyes. âA-Am I alive?â, I asked, and she giggled, âYes!â. âA-Am I a v-vampire?â, I asked, and she giggled, shaking her head, âNo.â. My eyes lifted as I realize that Iâm not dead, neither am I a vampire. I smiled as she pecked my lips, but as she pulled away, I held her on the back of her head to kiss her more. She saved me. She saved me from dying, she saved me from turning into a villainous creature.
She saved me.
I pulled away and started dousing her with kisses. From her cheek, to other cheek. To her nose, to her forehead and chin. âI love you.â, I said in between kisses. âI love you.â, I repeated as she giggled. âI love you so much.â, I said. We leaned our foreheads together, my eyes looking into hers, and only finding her softest soul inside her pupils.
âI love you too.â
From now on, and until we die, Iâll be singing, dancing, acting, with her by my side. Iâll be leaning on her, as she leans on me. Iâll be loving her, as she loves me. And to anyone who wants to try to hurt her again,
Bite me.
