T/N: Super Famista 2 is a baseball game software for the Super Famicom, published by Namco. It was released in Japan on March 1993. "Slugger" is a hard-hitting batter in baseball.

*In this issue: the results of the "9th Catch Phrase Grand Prix" and Yusuke's illustration drawn by Togashi to the winner, a 14-years-old from Kumamoto Prefecture. The winner’s catchphrase was: "A true man's paradise" 「真の男の極楽浄土」*

*Also, the promo of the first Yu Yu Hakusho Movie to the summer of 1993: "A big battle over the Golden Seal". An original screenplay that premiered on July 10th, 1993. The original character Koashura was designed by Togashi-sensei.*

T/N: TV Asahi's "Sunday Western Movie Theater" (Nichiyō Yōga Gekijō), as the name suggests, broadcast Western movies, mostly Americans, dubbed in Japanese on Sunday evenings. Nagaharu Yodogawa, the late Japanese film critic, was the host of the show until his death in 1998, and was known for closing each program with his signature line "Sayonara, sayonara, sayonara". After his closing lines, the song "So in Love" by Cole Porter was played as the ending theme of the show.

Netflix, svelati nuovi anime in produzione per la piattaforma

In arrivo adattamenti di Spriggan, Supercroocks e Dragon’s Dogma.

Netflix ha svelato, con un comunicato stampa, dei nuovi progetti d’animazione, frutto degli accordi di collaborazione stretti con altri studi giapponesi.

David Production (Le Bizzarre Avventure di JoJo, Cells at Work! - Lavori in Corpo) si sta occupando di una nuova serie basata sul manga sci-fi “Spriggan”, scritto da Hiroshi Takashige e disegnato da Ryouji Minagawa. 

La storia segue Yu Ominae, giovane liceale e Spriggan, titolo riservato agli agenti della ARCAM, una corporazione atta a proteggere le reliquie di un’antica e avanzatissima civiltà, ormai scomparsa, prevenendo che tali portentosi manufatti cadano nelle mani sbagliate.

Il manga è stato serializzato sulla rivista Shounen Sunday Super dal 1989 al 1996, per poi essere raccolta in 11 volumi. In Italia l’opera è arrivata, dapprima con Granata Press e poi nella versione Planet Manga. Nel settembre del 1998 è uscito un primo adattamento animato, sotto forma di film, prodotto da Studio 4°C e distribuito, in home video, nel nostro paese sia da Dynit che da Yamato Video.

Lo studio di computer grafica Sublimation realizzerà una serie ispirata a “Dragon’s Dogma”, l’action rpg ad ambientazione fantasy, sviluppato e pubblicato da Capcom 

Il protagonista di questa storia è un uomo al quale è stato rubato il cuore da un drago, ma che è tornato in vita come Arisen. Lungo la strada che lo separa dall’agognata vendetta, dovrà affrontare dei pericolosi demoni che incarnano i sette peccati capitali.

Il videogioco è uscito su Xbox 360 e PlayStation 3 nel 2012, seguito dall’espansione Dark Arisen nel 2013. Nel 2017, il titolo è approdato anche su PS4 ,Xbox One e PC, mentre dal 23 aprile di quest’anno sarà giocabile anche su Nintendo Switch.

Wit Studio (L’Attacco dei Giganti, The Ancient Magus' Bride) è impegnata nella produzione di una serie originale, intitolata “Vampire in the Garden”.

Momo e Fine sono due ragazze diverse, provenienti da mondi diversi, che incontrandosi per caso, però, daranno vita ad un’improbabile amicizia fra un’umana e una vampira, avvicinando le due specie grazie al potere della musica.

Bones (My Hero Academia, Bungo Stray Dogs) è impegnata, invece, nell’adattamento di “Supercrooks” (Superladri), fumetto ad opera di Mark Millar e Leinil Francis Yu, edito in Italia da Panini Comics.

Quando il mercato del crimine è strozzato dalla competizione e le autorità e i supereroi ti stanno alle costole, che cosa può fare un supergruppo americano di ladri? Ma andare in Spagna, è ovvio! Lo sceneggiatore di Kick-Ass, Wanted, Ultimates e molto altro, Mark Millar, si ritrova con l’autore di Superior Leinil Yu per un’avventura al fulmicotone con protagonisti un gruppo di supercriminali pronto a fare la rapina del secolo nella terra della paella e del flamenco.

In ultimo, è stato svelato il titolo dello spin-off di “Altered Carbon” in mano allo studio Anima: “Altered Carbon: Resleeved”. L’anime, annunciato in precedenza assieme ad altre produzioni in corso, andrà ad espandere la mitologia esplorata nella serie televisiva creata da Laeta Kalogridis e tratta dal romanzo cyberpunk “Bay City” di Richard K. Morga, distribuita da Netflix. Alla sceneggiatura ci saranno Dai Sato (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Ergo Proxy) e Tsukasa Kondo.
