'Sup guys, here with another sketch, this one's for New Wave, an NBA 2K ProAm esports team. Often times when I do sketches and I'm in the zone, I keep forgetting to take a snap of my progress. So on a typical sketch session of 4 to 6 hours, I only have 2 or 3 of these WIPs, I'm really bad at documenting stuff, probably cause I don't like distractions and would like to stay in that momentum, but I'm hoping to improve that next year; working and documenting at the same time. One of my biggest fear is a client wanting custom typography as their logo. I think I turned down 5 before I finally gave in and accept one. But still, lots of what-ifs. After hours of practice and several type references later, this is what I showed to my client. Not my very first in terms of typography requests, but esports-related typography logos. I think it turned out good. I really learned so much about typography, it's beauty and the time it takes to create one. Still a newbie at this but I like the improvements that I've accomplished. "Take risks, don't always play it safe or you'll die with regrets" For all the times that I've been doing eSport logos, typography is one that I don't want to touch, especially since I'm self-taught, and have no solid background on such discipline. I said to myself, If I'm not taking risks and aim to level up, my skills would only stay making mascots, I know that a big percentage of logos depends on well-executed typography and a must-have skill, so I gave in and took the leap. I hope to improve more on this side of logo designing as this is one of the most overlooked aspects of esports logos, sometimes however great your mascot is, If it is paired with a badly executed font/typography, the result would not be that great.
