reminder that ao guang, dragon king of the east sea, has a son and a daughter named “third kid” and “dragon girl” respectively
#for legal reasons this is a JOKE …. sorta#also this is if you accept the idea that longnü (dragon girl)’s dad is ao guang (longnü as in guanyin’s attendant/disciple)#the “bing” in ao bing is often used to replace the letter C in chinese#though it makes more sense to translate it as “three”#but your third son being named “kid C” is similarly funny#bing is 丙 from the heavenly stems (abcd would be translated into 甲乙丙丁)#ao guang what were you on. i just wanna talk#very reminiscent of li jing’s sons being “gold” “wood” and “??????” actually#and then him suddenly having a daughter in jttw whose name actually has meaning#(irl explanation is that the li brothers’ names were phonetically translated into chinese so their meanings are a little goofy)#i KNOWWW legit names like “octavian” denoting numbers exist but when i read “ao bing” and “longnü” in chinese i just giggle#anyway here is my mythology infodump for the day feel free to correct me if i got something wrong /gen#jttw#journey to the west#chinese mythology#ao guang#ao bing#longnü#should i tag lmk? ao guang is a character in lmk…..#eh whatever
