hellsinker: hello! welcome to hellsinker. would you like to learn how to play?
me: sure!
hellsinker: alright, so first things first, this is a bullet hell shoot'em'up with three unique playable characters: DEADLIAR, FOSSIL MAIDEN, and MINOGAME, plus one unlockable character. hellsinker has a unique emphasis on strategy and problem solving with a special scoring system and different routes.
me: cool!
hellsinker: you have a weapon, which can charge, a subweapon, and a special move. there's also a slowdown button. you can combine and time these to do different special attacks. when youre holding down fire you'll also have a SUPPRESSION RADIUS around you where some enemy bullets slow down and you can even delete some! if you get close to an enemy, you can SEAL them, which stops them from firing.
me: got it!
hellsinker: on the left side of the screen, you're gonna see a bunch of HUD info. let's break it down. first, you can see how many lives you have left. you can also earn more lives. pretty self explanatory
me: right. so if i lose them all it's game over?
hellsinker: yeah. well no, you'll get a chance to continue. but it's not like a normal continue, you only get one and it changes the game significantly, and you can lock yourself out of a continue. anyway let's get back to the bars. next from the top is SOL. SOL determines the strength of your main shot but is also your DISCHARGE gauge, so you have to balance that. LUNA just below it determines how fast you fire.
me: alright
hellsinker: okay so next up is STELLA. the more STELLA you have, the more bullets enemies will fire. your score will also scale with STELLA. you can increase and decrease STELLA with item pickups, or by aggressive/defensive play respectively, that kind of stuff. you can acquire APPEASEMENT that will help you decrease your STELLA if you graze the requisite number thus spawning two OLD RELICS
me: hm
hellsinker: finally, TERRA starts at 240. you lose TERRA if you die, but also if you avoid LIFE CHIPS and stuff like that. oh, also, it goes down if you finish a level. if it hits zero, as the next segment, you'll be sent to the Shrine of Farewell
me: what
hellsinker: on the other side of the screen, we have at the top your autobomb status, which can be set to ASPIRANT, SOLIDSTATE, or ADEPT. as a reminder, your DISCHARGE and Subweapon will behave differently based on whether you're holding the fire button down, the state of your gauges, etc. after that, you have the Spirit score, one of the three separate scoring systems in hellsinker. it's represented by three bars which represent the base 10 decimal digit values of your Spirit score. you can get a BREAKTHROUGH at 5200 Spirit, unless youve triggered the other BREAKTHROUGH in Kills, in which case it takes 6200.
me: wait
hellsinker: there's also a Kill score, which can also trigger a BREAKTHROUGH at 2500 or 5000 kills. BREAKTHROUGH will reset the threshold of LIFE CHIPS necessary to earn an IMMORTALITY EXTEND (80+40n pts) and sets said bonus to 200. Below that is Token score, which is like the other two but has no BREAK, and is earned by collecting LUNA DROPLETS (which have inverted gravity mind you), which also slightly increases your LUNA, and DROPLETS increase in value arithmetically.
me: uh
hellsinker: okay, so remember TERRA? so the Shrine of Farewell is a bonus stage boss rush but you get infinite lives. STELLA is constantly rising. there are four bosses, and one extra. your Spirit score drops to zero though. oh, also, BOOTLEG GHOST doesnt work while you're here.
me: bootleg ghost????
hellsinker: because your Spirit score is reset (m=0) you're probably worried about your score, but don't worry, you get the chance to earn your Spirit back in the Shrine of Farewell by collecting Crystals. after this, TERRA is disabled for the rest of the run, so make sure to maximize your spirit-to-crystal ratio if you're chasing a Spirit based high-score route, but its also useful if you're going for survival. hard limit of segment 7
me: wait but
hellsinker: as i’m sure you inferred by now, along with executive fire, the primary engagement of HELLSINKER regardless of which GRAVEYARD EXECUTOR you’ve selected (and agnostic of MISTELTOE configuration) is one of: α) management of SOL (DISCHARGE when necessary), LUNA, and SUBWEAPON gauges by destruction, collection, and timing β) safely managing proximity between mutable projectiles while evading needletype and other immutables γ) proximity protocol beta applied to adversaries to reduce production of danger δ) judiciously balancing STELLA with RELICS and transubstantiation of mutables into STELLA, in order to synthesize needs for evasion and for Spirit/Kills ε) maximizing destruction (Kills), Spirit, and Token ζ) achieving IMMORTALITY EXTENDS through BREAKTHROUGH (5.2k(+1k)m || 2.5k(⋅2)d) and LIFE CHIP acquisition η) again, doing all this while evading and using the proper attack protocols contingent on your EXECUTOR and/or MISTELTOE θ) managing TERRA reducing actions in order to deploy the visit to the Shrine of Farewell strategically, such as to maximize Spirit (m) prior: 1 Crystal (i) = 0.5% m1, upper bound of n = 424i (disambiguation: non-summated) ergo maximal execution miΣ(n424) = 2.12 * pre-Shrine.
me:
hellsinker: alright! that just about covers the basics. ready to start playing?
me: i'm still working on the left side of the screen

Today's game in the Games for Gaza bundle I played in LAZA KNITEZ!!
This game is space jousting. Bright neon colours, loud techno music and sounds, and fast pace action. This is a game that is meant to be played against friends, but has a solo play option as well. It plays a little like a shoot'em'up side scrolling, but without the scroll. You direct your little knight across the screen, shooting projectiles or ramming your lance into other nights. There's powerups that change your direction and speed or bullet spread. It's a charming little concept and once I figured out the controls, it was fun to blast through my opponents. (though the sound design wasn't entirely to my liking.)
I bet this is fun with friends, but alas I am stuck playing solo play. Something that has been hurting my ability to give a proper run of a lot of the ttrpg games I keep clicking on in the list. (GODKILLER looks super cool, but I have no one to play GODKILLER with :( )
Laza Knitez normally goes for $100USD, however you can get it alongside over 200 other games for $10 in the bundle linked above.
#games for gaza#laza knitez!!#review#indie game#apparently this game was $2 for 5 years#after which it went up to $100#always curious what indie devs will do to make their games stand out in the sea of other games

A Cyclical Review of NieR: Automata
I'm simply going to start with my conclusive opinion: to put it concisely, NieR: Automata is one of the most engrossing games I've ever played. No hyperbole, it was outright a Special Interest to me as an ADHD sufferer, and I could not stop playing it from the day I decided to give into my curiosity and try it for myself. Needless to say, after pouring I cannot even count how many hours into the game and growing to not just like the characters, but connect with them on a personal level, I could not help but find myself jumping headfirst into a second playthrough almost immediately after the first. Which is all well and good.
Because that's exactly what this game wants you to do. It wants you to continue the cycle it has presented.
NieR: Automata is an Action RPG that follows the story of three androids’ struggle to end a war upon an Earth overrun by machine lifeforms. 2B is the decidedly stoic one of the three with a heart that she tries denying she has, 9S has an almost child-like sense of wonder that helps more than it hinders, and A2 is an enigmatic figure at first, but one that cannot be denied as having a personality all her own as time treks forward. Millenia ago, a race of aliens invaded in a bid to destroy humanity using an army of robots that looked almost doll-like in their appearance, forcing what was left of humanity to flee to the moon and put forth their efforts towards reclamation rather than repulsion using humanoid Androids known as YoRHa units. While this concept sounds relatively silly, the execution is almost anything but, holding a seriousness that’s just strong enough to be taken as seriously as it wants to be with a sincerity you can’t ignore. It isn’t above taking the ridiculous to heart, though, and that truly does help keep things even more believable as you trek through the many areas the game has to offer.
In its barest of forms, this game is what you could call a Hybrid Action game with semi-open level design and RPG advancement systems such as weapon upgrades and stat boosts. The biggest bulk of the gameplay you'll be facing is a sort of mixture between bullet hell shooters in which you avoid, counter and shoot down your enemies as well as a pinpoint precision hack and slash combat, built around dodging and countering as well, sometimes focusing on one over the other for minutes at a time to keep the gameplay fresh. One moment you're dodging with brilliant timing to counter with a heavy-hitting strong slash or jab depending on your equipped weapon, the other you may be actively in a literal scrolling shoot'em'up that places you headlong in the path of a slew of enemies and their multitude of bullets. The game is no master of a single trade. Instead, it manages to give an almost perfect blend of two entirely differing styles into one package that breathes the boon of variety into the gameplay. I never felt bored playing the game, I only found myself growing tired because it had somehow become six hours later.
Two of the biggest aspects of the game that kept me so engrossed was how brilliantly the sound mixed with the visuals of what the game was showing me. Not a single moment went by without something of note occurring, and with the style the camera seemed to have whilst moving along, sometimes shifting a 3D perspective into a 2D platformer simply because it can, the game had a unique feel that not many can replicate. The peaceful moments were captivatingly serene, allowing me to explore to my leisure as the music quietly thrummed in the background, a fish nibbling on a lure as I quietly cast out my little companion's line. The lighting and the brilliance of the dull, but naturalized and breathtaking set design helped me feel enveloped by its world, the immersion of such a pristinely desolate landscape of an apocalyptic Earth helping me connect to the story even more so.
This extended to the less peaceful settings in the game as well. As the story progressed, I found myself absolutely engulfed in turmoil as my android avatars in-game conversed and contemplated whilst fighting for their lives. Their voices were almost perfectly chosen for such a game, and the voice acting was superb enough to truly help me feel just as confused, elated, relieved or angry as they were. 2B’s quiet resignation of her role, 9S’ true curiosity of the world around him and A2’s deeply rooted past helps one connect to them in a way not typically seen in a normal game of this genre. You help direct these living, breathing androids made to hold their emotions at bay but finding themselves more human than even the humans commanding them, and each moment of unease, wonder or tension feels earned in its fullest degrees and quite real due to their emotive capabilities. It also helps that, again, the level design and breathtaking score can push the wind out of your lungs so effectively when paired properly.
When you step into the City Ruins for the first time, the sunlight peaks down in such a soft, divine way, the naturalized world gently easing you forward towards your next destination. The first moments of confusion and bafflement upon arriving within the Amusement Park, seeing the almost eerily peaceful, otherworldly land you’ve stumbled within, never leave even as you delve deeper or decide to return whence you came. Whether that be a to camp to rest and listen to the sounds of life around you or the almost barren, but somehow brimming with potential discovery desert to the north, it legitimately feels like the world, however dead it may be, will continue to thrive. But it can’t. Not with work to do. And that’s where the main developer of this game, Platinum Games, shines.
When the music begins to ratchet up a violent degree, more instruments and vastly more threatening visuals are thrown your way. And this always means that the superb combat is soon to follow. Simple skirmishes can yield to vast assaults, and incredible set pieces and bosses punch their way through your screen with a presence that cannot be understated. The character of each enemy is palpable to a point where each and every type has their own style and finesse, captivating you in your bid to fight them off and clear the area for safe travels. 2B and A2’s combat is precise, direct and undeniably satisfying to cut down swathes of enemy machines that charge at you with support from airborne and turret-like brethren. 9S’ indirect assistance in the form of his twin-stick shooter hacking minigame can never be called “unfun” or “unnecessary”, especially when he can even hold his own in the thick of battle. No massive fight feels unearned. No visual spectacle lacks a need to appear. It’s a cycle of feedback that helps bring the game to life in a fulfilling way.
I say this because of the game’s cyclical nature. While this review may have bounced from the ending to the beginning, from gameplay to visuals and back to the gameplay once more, the game follows a similar structure. One playthrough may yield to you everything you need to experience a full game’s worth of narrative tension and peaceful downtime, but the story this game truly wants to tell does not end with just one ending. Not in the slightest. You follow through as 2B for only the first of three entire stories. 9S’ side story soon follows, telling a secondary account of what happens to truly be a tale of camaraderie that cannot be fulfilled without the severity of what you know comes next. But where the game truly shines in its third and final playthrough that leads to the game’s true ending.
And I dare not spoil how A2’s efforts change the course of the game’s entire story. Because, to put it concisely, NieR: Automata is one of the most engrossing games I've ever played. After pouring I cannot even count how many hours into the game as a Special Interest that captivated me so entirely, growing to not just like the characters, but connect with them on a personal level, I could not help but find myself jumping over here to write my thoughts upon the game. The spectacular visuals mixing with the music and voice acting to create a story I cannot believe could be told so well. The combat that meshes together two shockingly different styles into a new, fresh take on the both of them. A story that deliberately tells itself in a way that all three characters you play as can present in their own ways. It’s almost a lesson to teach the player how to view things from multiple angles, see the truth for what it is…
… and break through the cycle to see the results just a bit differently than before with greater context.
#1500 words later I guess#this came almost entirely out of nowhere#Nier#nier automata#enjoy and stuff

Crime City (1989) is a Beat'em'up / Shoot'em'up video game developed and published by Taito for the Arcades. Crime City can be played by one or two players simultaneous. Vote and check how others voted: https://ift.tt/2YbMKiQ Crime City is rampant with evil organizations and criminal activity. Crimes such as robberies, burglaries, smuggling, kidnappings, and drug dealing have become commonplace. The local police force can no longer control the city, so Tony Gibson and Raymond Brady are called in to restore law and order to the city. Crime City is a dangerous, violent place - I believe it placed second in a recent poll of "worst possible places to live", just behind Herpes-upon-Thames - but luckily there's a pair of dedicated and vigilant police officers who will stop at nothing to clean up the streets. Just how seriously do they take their duties? Any similarities between these guys and the heroes of the Lethal Weapon franchise are entirely a product of your twisted mind. You should probably go and see a doctor or something; you're imagining things, seeing Lethal Weapon everywhere. Tony's surname is a mere coincidence, nothing more. Source: https://ift.tt/2OxU2sy Armed with a pistol but can collect extra weapons as they progress through it. However, all weapons only have a limited amount of ammunition, and if the cops should ever run out, they will only be able to kill the enemies by punching or somersaulting into them. Drifting lands seriers
#Drifting lands seriers professional
The fractures become a metaphor for a doubt that has long since arisen.
#Drifting lands seriers professional
Isn’t it overdue to rethink and to shape her future professional life differently in this respect? But through this procedure she questions her previous dealing with flying and global travel. The world, or rather its perception, is shaken. In the pictures, she does not treat the landscape with care, she deliberately destroys it, she fragments it. Some of the photographs date from a time when flying was a regular side effect to Julia Baier’s job as a photographer. Real fictions emerge that move between photography and cinematic fragment and confuse our concept of reality, a concept shaped and directed by technology. Through the provoked simultaneousness and condensation of what is seen, Julia Baier steps out of the question of spatiality and removes the temporal limitation. is an hybrid of classical horizontal shoot'em'up with a lot of strong gameplay elements coming straight from the action-RPG genre. So these are inventions from the camera (and not compositions created later on the computer). The camera invents, copies arbitrarily, leaves out and drifts away – parts of the passing (airport) landscape and the sky condense into artifacts. The artist consciously incorporates the technical skill and weaknesses of the camera, determines the process and goes beyond the programmed frame. The photographer makes experimental use of the panorama function of her smartphone camera and outsmarts its algorithm by using the movement of the plane rather than her own. But in fact the set pieces of runways, taxiways, wings, landscapes and clouds weave themselves into new pictorial tapestries with their very own connotations. The Drifting Skies series is ostensibly about flying, taking off and landing.

You’ll probably make the mistake of not storing it in your hold once, but it’s a nice idea to have the item based quests where things you’ve gathered mean more than just being stuff to equip. With the side missions, there are occasionally some that require you to use loot gathered and drop it off. At the end of game, each continent will be scored according to its size and the animals on it. Then move their animals to control the continents. Players can move the continents and reshape them. In each round, players will choose 4 cards in their hands, and play the cards in the action phase. Drifting Lands is a Role Playing game developed by Alkemi that can be.

Much like the guns there’s a large variety of moves, which does help in making the combat a little more varied. Drifting Lands is a game about evolution in Devonian Period for 2-4 players. Drifting Lands was the number PC game in July 2022 based on monthly active players. Skills are also available for your pilot and can be swapped in and out in the hub. Loot generally affects your ships and what type of weapons they have, how much damage you can take, and movement speed. You can use credits to buy more slots, but a couple of slots is generally enough, as you’ll either sell loot or turn them into blueprints of slightly weaker versions of the weapon. Once a mission is over, each item can then be deposited into your limited inventory space. Drifting Lands is a game about evolution in Devonian Period for 2-4 players. This is a shame because I liked the concept of making ships using loot obtained from the missions. Drifting Lands sadly uses everything a bit too much.
Drifting lands how to#
With more levels than is absolutely necessary, the challenge is how to design each level to feel unique in order to prevent reusing content. Sidescrolling shooters are intrinsically designed, but they purposefully have few levels in order to encourage replay value. View the individual games for more details. The fact of the matter is the sheer amount of levels is what ruins Drifting Lands. Title: Drifting Lands Soundtrack Edition Genre: Action, Indie, RPG Developer: Alkemi Publisher: Alkemi Languages: English, French Listed languages may not be available for all games in the package. To me, this is a very unusual oversight as it would have led to much more diverse level design. So... If there is something to be said about REZ, is that this isn't exactly a video game. It's an interactive audiovisual experience where by chance you can play in it. You can say it is disguised as a videogame. Now is it good?
For me, I really enjoyed. But more for the ride than for what the game actually is.
Too bad it is too short.

im kinda caught between dry crying and being numb... this is... well
maybe it hurts so bad cause its a reminder that everything he does is just to placate. when im crying and upset, he only says he supports me to placate me, so i fucking shut up for once in my life. he only says stuff like that to shut us up. he doesn't actually care, and he never will, because he's never once loved us.
at least, he doesn't love the us that exists. i think he has some sort of imaginary children that are just statues, they don't do things except what he wants them to. he doesn't actually care about us, and he doesn't actually love us.
he never will, and i should get used to that. i got soft, since he wasn't actively strangling me when i talked back. maybe cause im too big for him now, maybe i'll actually hurt him, maybe i can actually fucking talk now so he won't dare.
y'know whats telling, though?
after he got mad at us for being rightfully upset, he changed from playing one game thats exploration, to playing one thats only a violent shoot'em'up.
so thats pretty telling.
thanks dad!
