suguru wakes up, with a jolt, to the sound of a thud and a meek little yelp.
his eyes blink open, like the shutter of an old camera, raven lashes fluttering along — met only with the dim darkness of your bedroom. not quite pitch black, the light of something soon to resemble dawn bleeding in through the closed blinds, a blue kind of hue that doesn’t do much for him. everything is still dark.
but he can make out shapes, see the ceiling above him, and when he turns his head to the right he can see the contours of shoko’s face; fast asleep, snores building up in her throat and spilling from her lips.
(ridiculously cute.)
sadly, suguru doesn’t have time to savour the sight. because it takes him no less than a moment to notice that his other sleepy baby isn’t there at all — he barely even has to look, just feeling the mattress below him, knowing something is missing. he can’t feel at ease unless you’re weighing it down.
”baby…?” he rasps, deep and groggy, body moving on its own. elbows digging into the mattress, lifting himself up — a tug of alarm stirring his heartstrings.
the thud, your absence, the unmistakable yelp.
his muddled mind puts three and three together — and he sluggishly, steadily pulls himself up, almost desperate to locate you, but careful not to wake shoko. he moves elegantly, like a panther, slipping out of bed, bare feet meeting the cold floorboards as he stands up to his full height. hair a mess, a raven’s nest, sweatpants close to slipping off one side of his hips. absently wiping at his bleary eyes.
as soon as he regains his vision, stands up straight — he sees you. lying on the floor, like an abandoned plushie, while the adorable culprit is sprawled out peacefully on the mattress above you. you’re trying to get up, all disoriented and sleepy, and suguru thinks his heart might just melt down to the marrow.
this is exactly why he makes sure to sleep on the edge of the bed, most nights. exactly to prevent this — prevent his lovers from rolling over, tumbling right off. he doesn’t mind sleeping in the middle on days you want one arm each to latch onto, of course not; nothing warms his heart more than having both his babies on either side of him. but it feels good, to be the shield between you and the hardwood floor — making sure neither of you could ever fall off. it feels good, to watch you both nuzzle together like a pair of sleepy kittens. left side, middle, he’s fine with either.
just as long as he can prevent this. having to watch your small, sleepy form paw at the floorboards in search of stability. it breaks his heart in two.
”oh, baby,” he croons, deep and dripping with honey, crouching down beside you. effortless, as he scoops you up into his arms, one of his palms curling around your back — running down your spine.
and your eyes flutter open. hazy eyes, blinking at him, gaze almost absent, like you’re not quite sure what you’re looking at; but you’re already leaning into his touch, muscles softening, as if your very essence knows you’re safe. in his arms, in his lap.
it makes him want to cry.
(it makes him want to give you everything.)
he wastes no time in securing you, arms under your legs and behind your back as he stands up again. cradling you close, letting out a quiet coo, as if shushing a disgruntled child. the fall must have woken you up, poor thing. he wishes he could be angry with shoko, but she looks too sweet, when she’s so deeply asleep; drooling a little, groaning out something that sounds like a name. he only shakes his head, still rubbing gentle circles into your back.
”what a little bully, huh…?”
no response. you’re already starting to nod off, again, and so he gets back into bed — guiding you to rest against the wall, safe and secure, where no sleepy girlfriends can get to you. tucking you in under his chin, making sure you’re comfortable against him.
(your shield, always. that’s all he wants to be.)
his lips find their way onto your forehead, pressing a gentle kiss between your brows. soft and chaste, holding you snugly, so eager to dote on you. his heart is still bleeding with tenderness, he can’t keep it in, it’s leaking all over the mattress and urging him to hold you tighter against his ribs. he thinks of how confused you must have been, waking up on the floor, wonders if you hurt your head on the way down — pressing another kiss there, for good measure.
sweetly, sleepily, your lips curl up into a smile.
a yawn slips past your lips, as you nuzzle into him, cheek all squished against his cushiony chest. looking so pleased that he almost wonders if this was your plan all along, a way to get all his attention.
suddenly, a weight drapes itself against his spine.
while he’s busy coaxing you back to sleep, he feels it; a sleepy murmur, muffled right against his bare skin, as a pair of lanky arms wrap around his waist. her voice is so raspy he just barely picks up on it, but his ears are attuned to every sound she makes.
shoko stirs behind him, fingers digging into his hips.
”… give ’em back…”
… his brows furrow.
”thief,” she yawns, again, all groggy and gruff. so, so silly. ”give them back… you’re so greedy…”
a raise of his brow, as he breathes out a scoff. ”you kicked them off the bed, you know…”
shoko only breathes out another groggy grumble, in response; her lanky arms tugging at his shoulders, using them as leverage to drag herself over his body and closest to the wall. he only lets out an amused huff, letting her manhandle him a bit — letting her snuggle up to you, warming your back. suguru feels himself smiling. watching you squirm, when her short, auburn strands tickle your sensitive collarbone, when she sighs into your neck. right in the middle of the two, right where you should be.
right where you belong.
he leans forward, brushes the curtain of your bangs away from your face, plants his lips against your forehead; smears a kiss against shoko’s cheek. he can’t help himself but to fall into you, breathe in the scent of your moisturizer, fading citrus drops and coconut oil. can’t help himself but to love you.
(his angels, he thinks, the word stuck on his tongue. his reason to be.)
suguru hugs you both close, now separating you fully from the edge of the bed, the chilly mahogany floor just waiting for impact. like the steady wall he always yearns to be, your ever-eager guard dog, even in your sleep. he’d like to jump into your dreams, make sure they treat you kindly — but he can’t.
so this will have to do.
with a sigh, his lashes flutter shut. eyes drooping, every muscle in his body beginning to relax, sink into the mattress below. you’re safe, and shoko’s safe. that’s enough to put his heart deliriously at ease.
with the dark blue shade of the almost-morning sky bleeding in through the window’s glass, the city fast asleep beyond it — suguru closes his eyes. he whispers, breathes a silent prayer into the top of your head. he hopes you can still hear it, that it can bring you both solace, that his wish will come true.
”sweet dreams, my angels.”
(that’s all he could ask for.)

★ Chapstick
Tumblr media
When people are kind to Shoko, she starts to cry. When people pay attention to her, she becomes self-conscious. When people talk to her, she becomes withdrawn.
She cries over you. Becomes self-conscious. Withdrawn.
Monday. Morning crying spells. Satoru blows up her phone asking her to come with on an outing because you will be there.
She has to escape you for a cigarette break. You follow after her.
It's just been a few days of knowing you, and yet Shoko is feeling her heart start to pound like you're knocking on the door to her soul.
The sweltering summer heat is already melting her mind. Pair that with you wearing a sundress and her mind is too fuzzy to think straight. She zones out while you talk.
Smoke drifts past her thin lips.
She intently observes you as you stop talking mid-sentence and start applying chapstick; how it squishes your lips, how it rubs back and forth across them, how you part your lips almost erotically, how your lips shimmer so subtly. Now Shoko's begun staring without realizing.
"I like your chapstick." she blurts out.
"Do you want some?" you flirt.
Her eyes widen and her cheeks start to burn.
"What? Like let me use it?"
"No, like let me kiss you."

"suguu can i put bows on you?" you asked getting suguru's attention from his laptop, "what?" he grumbles "can i put bows on youu!" you repeat, getting up from the couch, "baby i heard you the first time, but-" "pretty please suguuu~" you begged, giving him the prettiest doe eyes, with your hands pressing against each other, as you pout your lips, "ugh- fine.." he'd grunt, closing his laptop and putting it aside before pattering towards you, "reallyy? oh my gosh really!? i knew you couldn't resist this charm" you cackled, before running to your shared bedroom, you took the light pink roll of ribbon from your desk before running back to the living room, suguru sighed softly before he smiled "did you seriously bought that, just for this?" he laughed,
"what? noo i would never pfftt-"
"oh really, huh?" suguru chuckled as you uwrapped the plastic cover of the ribbon,
"do you even know how to tie a bow?" suguru asked "well duh of course i can!" you giggled cutting portions of the ribbon, "ok now get that comb and I'll yassify you" you'd playfully order suguru as he obliged "ai ai miss ma'am!" he took the comb from the table before coming back to you "here you go bae" he hands you the comb before sitting you on top of his lap, you ran your finger thru his silky smooth hair, tying the pink ribbons on him while he giggles as you talk about your life gossips, he just loved seeing his cute little girlfriend getting so worked up just for tying a bow on him, "voilá! suguu look in the mirror and rate it one to ten, yeah?" you excitedly hand him the mirror while you wait for his reaction, suguru looked at the mirror with cute bows adorned to his hair, perfectly tied and neat,
"it'd be a solid 12/10 bae!" he giggles and pulled you in for the sweetest kiss, "say: cheese!" you said before clicking the shutter button of the camera.
"your turn princess!"
Tumblr media
SATORU: "I've been waiting for this moment!
it was a boring afternoon, just you and your precious boyfriend satoru who's laying on top of your chest while fidgeting your hair, as you scroll thru instagram reels, you came across a certain video where in a girl ties a ribbon around her boyfriend's biceps as the boyfriend flexed, curling his muscles causing the ribbon to rip and be torn apart, the background music played over and over getting satoru's attention,
"hey cutie, what are you watching?" satoru asked satoru jolts up, "just some random video, wait- satoru can we do thisss" you babbled showing him the video you've been watching for the past three minutes, while he was watching the video you saw him smile, his eyes glimmered like he was waiting for this moment to come,
"I've been waiting for you to say that!" he exclaims "let me just get my damn ribbons" you chuckled as you ran out the living room to grab some of your ribbons that you use for you hair, "ok im back grab my phone over there 'toru" you giggled while satoru gave you your phone, "flex them biceps baby!"
"your wish is my command" satoru laughs, flexing his biceps while you put a ribbon on it,
"you gotta break it when the beat drops ok?"
"ok!" he responds, you clicked the recording button of your phone recording satoru's bicep "i need to brethe some air" the music rang across your living room as the camera focuses on satoru, "cause you got me- so soaakkedd" satoru quickly flexed his bicep causing the ribbon to rip,
"oh goshhh 'toruuu"
Tumblr media
SUKUNA: "if that makes you shut up.."
"i think bows would suit you" you giggled your skin brushing his, as you nuzzled to his beefy muscled arms, "what do you mean" he huffs, "like...you know those things i always put on my hair i think it would suit you.." you murmur feeling the heat from his body, making you feel safe and comfortable, "you know what can i put bows on you?" sukuna ignores you, "sukuu~" you coed, getting the curse's attention once again "please?" "no" he responds, "pretty please?"
"no" he repeats...
"come on now you old man, i ribbon won't hurt, right so pretty please with a cherry on top?"
"tsk, will you stop bickering if i grant you permission?" he grunts, raising one of his eyebrows, your eyes beamed with joy as you nod your head profusely, "then, go on" he coes you blinked twice, "huh?"
"i said go on and tie bows on me..." he sighs in defeat, the king of curses was no match to his loving wife...
"suku lean down, pleasee" you asked him, as he obliged, you took some ribbons off, of your kimono, using it as a ribbon to tie on sukuna's hair, as you tie it on his hair, his oversized hands supports you to stand still on the stool you're standing on, one of his hand placed on your waist, as you talk about your past haircuts and why you do not or like them, while sukuna listens, "and just a few more touches here and...you're done!" you chuckled as you stare at him so lovingly,
"oh wait, i still have one left!", you gasped as you slowly get off the stool with sukuna supporting your body, "suku, give me one of your four hands", "why?" "hurryyy!" you command as sukuna rolls his eyes and obliged once again, he swiftly whips one of his hand out off his kimono placing it infront of you, "yeyy!" you exclaimed, before you tied the last red ribbon tou had around his wrist... sukuna admired the ribbon on his wrist and hair, "this is so childish...but, it's not that bad" he says, before pulling you in for a kiss on the forehead, "my lord the visitors-..." uraume
paused as soon as they entered the room, sukuna turns to them with ribbons on his hair, "what is it, uraume?",
"the visitors has arrived..."
Tumblr media
YUKI: "you can do what ever you want as long as you're happy"
you and your girlfriend yuki are on the garage in a sunny afternoon, just you eating ice cream sitting close to her and, her fixing something in her motorcycle, your eyes wonder on her garage, you stood up to stroll around since your legs are getting cramped.
you stroll around her garage but you were stopped when you found a unopened roll of ribbon, placed in a box that looks like she's about to throw away, you quickly picked it up and brought it to your sit, "yuki" you chimed, getting her attention from her motorcycle, "hey, you need something?" she says, as she used a towel to wipe the grease off her hands,
"look what i found!" you mused, smiling so lovingly as yuki stares at you with a soft demeanor, "i was about to throw that away cause i don't know where to use it..." she laughs-
"you can have it if you want!" she offers, you gasped, "y'know what i got an idea!", you opened the roll of white ribbon, "jus' gimme a sec!" you giggled as you cut even portions of the ribbon with the scissors you found beside you,
"m'kay princess" she chuckles as she walks up to you, "what's your plan, huh?" she chortles as she waves her eyebrows, "'n done! give me your bicep!" you asked, "y'know i saw in social media" you start, "and i jus' wanna see if it'll suit you-" you paused, as you tied the last knot on yuki's bicep,"tadaaa~" "it's so cute" she scoffs, with a blush spreading across her plush cheeks,
"can i also put bows on you motorcycle?" you asked, "of course you can baby..." "really?" you asked "really!" she responds, pulling you into a kiss..
Tumblr media
SHOKO: "my fiance did it"
an early morning starts as you and your fiance start your day, a sunlight bounces on your face from the window, your eyes flutter open as shoko was no where to be found, you guessed that she's in the kitchen, making breakfast for the both of you and, you were right
" 'morning sleepy princess" she greets you as she hands you a cup of coffee, "thank you, and good morning to you too!" you respond as you took the cup of coffee from the table, "I'm going to take a shower now be right back" she said.
she comes out of the bathroom with her classic go to outfit for work, a turtle neck and some jeans, "shokoo let me do your hair, pleasee!" you spoke, "sure girl, just let me blow dry my hair ok?"
"oookkkeyy!" you hummed, as soon as she dried her hair she went straight to you, "sit down now m'lady...hehe-" you chuckled "and also can i put bows on you?" you add, "I can't see why not...do what you need to do" she giggles.
you combed her soft silky hair, your fingers running across her hair "you're on day-off right?" "mhmm" you hummed as you focused on tying her hair,
"is it too tight? do i need to loosen it a bit?" you asked as you put a ribbon on top of the hair tie attached to her hair, "nope, nope it's all good princess" she uttered "you can look on the mirror now!" you add, "it looks cute haha!" she chuckles "I'm gonna get to work now-" she stood up kissing you on the cheek and lips, "I'll see you later ok? i love you!" she spoke, kissing you once more, "okay, byeee see you later" you bid your goodbye as you watched her grab her tote bag, she waves at you and head out...
when shoko arrived at the jujutsu tech she was greeted by utahime, "shokoo! how are you?" "im good, long time no see.." she responds "yeah long time no see, i like your hairstyle!" utahime giggles "thanks, my fiance did it for me"
-the hairstyle-
CHOSO: "we're matching now!"
"choo! we should try riding the ferris wheel!" you exclaimed as you point your finger on the ferris wheel nearby, you and choso are on a date in the amusement park, "let's go now quickly!" he responds, as he took your hand to ran for the line of the ferris wheel, both of you were laughing non-stop once you reached the front of the line, "i almost tripped!" you giggled "you were too slow that's why" he jested, "two tickets, please.." he utters to the clerk in charge on the tickets, "here you go sir.." the clerk hands choso the tickets before the two of you were allowed in, choso gave the tickets to the other employee and then they let the two of you in.
when the two of you are on the ferris wheel, you both sat down immediately, "it's getting dark..." you babbled, "it is getting dark, I'm having fun today!" he said looking thru your eyes, his dark brown eyes orbs piercing yours, "you look so beautiful-" he paused, tucking your hair behind your ear, "with those purple ribbons" he faltered, "thank you, choso I'm also having fun today" you murmured as you felt your cheeks burn from how smooth his words,
"y-y'know i wonder how you'll look with these ribbons" your words slip, "can i tie a bow on you?" you inquired, making choso chuckle, "of course you can, so we can be matching!" he responds, "really?!" your repeat, as he nods his head profusely, "yes!", "ok let me just get one ribbon from my hair" you cackled, as you tug one of the ribbons on your hair, after successfully pulling one out youu quickly tied it around choso's hair, "you look so cute!!" you gagged in his cuteness "we are matching now!" he yelps, as your eyes locked on to each other, he pulls your cheeks for a kiss, you immediately melted with his touch as he fills your stomach with butterflies, a few moments later you hear fireworks being blown up to the air, as choso deepens the kiss, your hands lightly tugging on his hair, with his hands on your waist, he pulls away to catch a breath, your eyes shot open while catch your breath, his kiss was so intoxicating
"i love you.." whispers as the both of you watched the fire works up on the ferris wheel.

hidden inventory students: headcanons
gojo, geto, shoko, haibara, nanami
gojo can scream in the most high pitched way ever. this usually happens when his ego gets to him during a mission and gets snuck up on from behind.
gojo has ripped his pants multiple times on different occasions. the worst one is when a girl he was flirting with dropped something, so he squats down and just like that, and rip right down the middle. he was wearing bright pink boxers with a pizza pattern btw... sometimes, he's not even shy about it.
gojo has the worst balance on trains. he has to lean against something or sit down because his legs shake like crazy. will always fall on the person next to him when the train stops, slow or fast it doesn't matter, even if the train doesn't move anybody else.
gojo frequently sends geto selfies with the most weird things. burnt food, ant's nest, inside of a truck, you name it.
when nobody's looking, geto pins back his bangs. he keeps a hairclip that shoko gifted him in his pocket, because he refuses to admit that they actually do get in the way.
geto has horrible back pain but the best posture. sits straight up as if he's been taped to the back of a chair. when he's walking? um... that's a different story.
geto matches other people's energy. it's not over the top, but he can adapt to all sorts of personalities and humour, both negatively and positively. it's most apparent with gojo and haibara. his whole entire mindset can change depending on who he's talking to.
geto has more haircare products than anything, not even skincare comes close. ask him about a particular shampoo or hair oil, and he can manage to go on a twenty minute rant about why you shouldn't buy it. never gives recommendations though (gatekeeper)
shoko laughs embarrassingly loud on purpose when anybody makes a bad joke. she does it most when guys try to catcall her or ask her out. also does it to gojo, but more as a joke because she likes how sulky he gets. it's actually kind of scary how she laughs too...
shoko hides her real cigarettes in a fake/candy cigarette box. may or may not keep an emergency lighter in there as well, but she doesn't know it's complete out. she does this so yaga doesn't find out she smokes.
shoko naps all the time during boring classes. poke her, shout in her ear, she will not wake up until something subconscious in her brain hears the school bell go off.
shoko prints off every photo she takes with a classmate. she sticks them on the wall of her dorm room, and separates them by person. the ones with utahime and meimei are put where she can easily see them and decorated with stickers. always puts a pink heart next to gojo's face for special reasons.
haibara is so overly positive it pisses people off. he always sees the good in people, so if a thief tries to rob him, he willingly hands his stuff over, because he always gives to "people in need". he gets upset when the thief gives him his stuff back and walks off.
haibara frequently compliment on how much people eat. we know his type is girls who eat a lot (i think) so he gets happy when somebody around him is just enjoying food and letting loose. doesn't really care if said person finds him weird, and he always buys them another little side dish or dessert.
haibara always looks out for other people. if he's in a crowded place like a party or amusement park, he always manages to find people at unexpected times and ask if they're okay/having fun. always checks the infirmary room just to make sure nobody's injured.
haibara is a natural magnet to children. somehow knows exactly how to play and communicate with them. maybe has siblings of his own, because he seems like the kind of guy that is the oldest of 5+ siblings yet still manages to have younger brother vibes.
nanami never poses for pictures. if he has to be in one via peer pressure, he stands straight, arms to his sides, and a grumpy look on his face (🧍‍♂️)
nanami spends a lot of time doing his hair. i know it doesn't look like he would, but he does. he uses a bunch of hairspray, so those strands do not move AT ALL. it's actually so hard and stiff if someone tries to touch it. because he puts so much, he has to wash his hair every day. legend has it that nobody's seen what his hair with no product looks like.
nanami has the worst attitude to those younger than him, but is so respectful to elders. like, it could be a whole 360 to what he's usually like. 90 degree bows, formal language and everything. bonus! shoko actually teases him the most about this.
nanami loves everyone in the group. dear, dear nanami... he's never open with his feelings. i don't think he could genuinely imagine his life being any more interesting than it is now if he hadn't joined jujutsu tech. it's not obvious, but he's always wishing the best for those around him. (we all know how that ended cough cough)

silent.
that’s what the room was — where you sat atop the examination table, bloody shirt discarded where a gash ran along your side. your girlfriend, ever the doctor, tends to your wound with utmost care. she has a … pensive look on her face. baggy eyes squinted, plump lips tugged beneath her teeth as she focuses on the task at hand.
… you knew what was coming.
“you could’ve died, you realize that?” she finally speaks up, her deadpan eyes flickering up to you, her frown deepening. you let out a sheepish laugh. damn, your girlfriend was intimidating when upset. “aha,, well, i didn’t! i’m fine, see? jus’ a scratch.” you try to downplay, but she doesn’t buy it.
“that’s not the point.” she refuted through a sigh. “i told gojo to specifically not let you on that mission. but did he, or you, listen?” she squints. you don’t say anything, knowing not to argue her point. it’s not like she was exactly wrong, anyway.
“your recklessness is exactly why i don’t want you going out on missions as freely as he does. i told you to at least wait until your other injuries were healed, but did you listen? noooope. is this how it’s gonna be? you comin’ home injured every time despite my warnings? when’re you gonna learn, hm?”
you sink into your seat. she was right, you were reckless, and this scolding was definitely in line. you sigh. “mm.. yea. ‘m sorry, sho.” you murmur.
she sighs and her voice is a little more gentle. “you’re such a stubborn girl, hm. why’d you go through with it despite me saying not to?” you shift. “jus’ didn’t wanna be seen as some fragile sorcerer, i guess.” you say in a mumble.
“but you do realize that i don’t see you that way, right? i worry about you because i love you, not because i wanna be a pain in your ass.” she chuckles. “i know you wanna get as strong as you can, but please, at least heed my warnings. i don’t want you coming home with fatal injuries, yeah?”
you look up at her with a small pout on your lips but you nod. “mhm, you’re right. ‘should’ve listened to you.”
she gives you a small smile and pats your cheek. “good girl. i love you, but i swear to all things holy if y’dont listen when i tell you t’stay back i’ll lock you in your room.” she jokes.
you snort and you nod. “yes ma’am.” she huffs a laugh, leaning up to press a gentle kiss to your forehead. shoko takes a step back to give you room, and grabs a piece of candy you can only assume is her favourite flavour - butterscotch - from her pocket, unwraps it, and pops it between her lips.
you watch her as she does so with a spark of adoration in your eyes — one she doesn’t miss, and it makes her heart skip a beat. she could never stay mad at you, with the way your voice soothes her entire being and how fucking cute you are.
even when she’s feeling a little cooped up with work or even a little discouraged, she pushes through it. because she has someone waiting for her at home —
— you.
the girl sweeter than the candy she ate, more addictive than the cigarettes she puffed.

ADDICTED — shoko ieiri
synopsis: a half-drunken bet with gojo means that shoko gives up smoking for a week, so she finds other ways (you) to get her fix.
warnings: shoko and gojo’s night out!, fluff, gojo being stingy and shoko bullying him for it, slightly ooc, mentions of suguru, shoko loves you and your lips more, shoko x fem!reader

it was another night out on the town with shoko and gojo who were on their third bar of the night. shoko nursed a vodka cranberry in one hand and a cigarette in the other whilst gojo was on his third highly syrupy sweet ‘mocktail’.
the atmosphere was lively and the conversation that was mainly fuelled by alcohol and high levels of sugar was non stop. they talked about everything from work, high school crushes to which gojo went on a 20 minute deep dive on the non sorcerer guy he briefly dated in junior year.
gojo would eventually find the guys socials but they were on private. which was a bummer but he still requested.
after a while they settled on the topic of health, shoko’s field of expertise. being in their late twenties meant that their bodies were beginning to pay for the late nights, the boozy nights that only came back in flashes and the constant stress and strain of being a jujutsu sorcerer.
“look what i can do!”
shoko hiccuped before taking a long drag from her cigarette and blowing the smoke out from her nostrils. the sugar rush was definitely hitting gojo as he looked at her in wondrous awe.
“whoa, sho did you eat suguru’s dragon curse because that was pretty cool. you’re like part dragon now!” satoru watched with childlike wonder as the tendrils of smoke dissipated into the dense air of the bar making him cough a little.
the sugar high dulled his senses to the point where he didn’t register the two security guards who wordlessly pointed at the no smoking sign dangling right in front of them. shoko quickly downed the contents of her drink before she was escorted out of the bar.
the cold late night weather sobered shoko and gojo up pretty quickly. even in their hazy minds the damage was being undone with rct. they both felt the quiet thrum of rct healing their battered pancreas and livers, the sensation feeling like unblocking a blocked nose.
shoko lit a cigarette whilst her and satoru walked to the nearest train station. “shokoooo.” he whined, crinkling his nose at the smell of smoke wafting through the air making him feel kinda dizzy.
“i don’t get how you enjoy those cancer sticks do you know—”
“yes i know all about how bad smoking is idiot, i heard all about it in med school.” she takes another drag of her cigarette, already sighing.
as if shoko could take another lecture, remembering the pointed gazes that fellow students used to give her whenever the topic of smoking and lung cancer came up in med school. those seemingly pitiful faces were nice until she remembered that she could drop dead and they wouldn’t care.
satoru was never surprised by her lack of tact, it was almost expected from her. he looked unfazed at her attitude, seemingly lost in deep thought which was something satoru did on a rare occasion. he was a man that was driven by impulse, solely held together by the bare bones of logic.
meanwhile shoko could recognise the cogs turning in his labyrinth of a mind, she wondered what spurred this lapse in thought. before the words could escape his lips shoko had already beat him to it.
“no.”
“what i didn’t even say anything!” he pouted, crossing his arms.
she stopped to face him tapping her foot impatiently, when you knew someone like satoru for this long it wasn’t that hard to gauge what he wanted. shoko gave him a look that said well…speak!
“i’ll give you 500 bucks and that special grade curse you’ve been pestering me about, if you quit smoking for a week.” gojo offered, his eyes twinkling with something akin to amusement.
shoko was lowkey offended at the low sum that he was offering her. for a trust fund nepo baby he was being very stingy right now which made zero sense to her.
in shoko’s eyes if you were rich the last thing you could ever be is stingy, especially in satoru’s case as he was heir to a multi million dollar fortune. plus it wasn’t like she needed the money anyways she just liked seeing him spend it on stupid shit.
“satoru i can’t believe that our 10 years of friendship is only worth 5000 yen to you!” she replied with mock offense, placing a hand on her chest for dramatic effect. she leans in closer to him before talking in a hushed voice.
“satoru are you…b-broke?” she gasps, eyes widening with shock. she knew that would hit him where it hurts. even though gojo repeatedly stated money wasn’t important to him, the tick in his jaw said otherwise.
satoru huffs as he fishes out his wallet from the deep depths of his pockets and pulls out several crisp 10000 yen bills. he wafts them in shoko’s face, to which shoko interprets as a desperate attempt to beat the broke allegations.
“now that i have shown you that i have the funds, do we have a deal?” gojo asks once more and shoko reluctantly obliges, taking her last hit of nicotine before she throws her cigarette away. “deal.” she replies, shaking gojo’s hand.
looking back shoko realises that she signed her own death warrant.
it has been three days since shoko made the fateful decision to give up smoking for a week and the withdrawals are hitting her more harder than she expected. she’s been painfully snappy with everyone ever since, especially with the main source of her distress, gojo.
by this time everyone gathered that the morning’s were the worst possible time to talk to shoko for anything, fearing of the wrath that would incur if you did talk to her. she got all the information through email or text
shoko tried to suppress her need for nicotine, from nicotine patches to chewing gum to eating crunchy foods, shoko felt like she was about to develop tmj from all the chewing she was doing and she honestly had enough of it all, she felt like a damn rabbit.
it wasn’t like she could go out and have a quick little smoke when gojo had bribed all the convenience store owners within a 20 mile radius, telling them not to sell any cigarettes to her.
by day five, shoko found a new way to cope with her withdrawal symptoms. you. kissing your sweet lips was what made this hell of a week much more bearable. at first they were fleeting, a quick kiss here and there before you left for work or one to your shoulder whilst she brushed past you in the kitchen.
if shoko wasn’t snacking or chewing she was kissing you every chance she got. "babee" you whined as you tried to break free of her unusually strong grasp. her strength always came as a shock to you even though you knew she trained with the best of the best before becoming a healer.
"why can't you just give me one more, babe?" she pleaded in that breathy whiny voice she knew that would drive you crazy as her dark brown eyes bored into yours. she was a sight to behold.
her moussy brown hair all tousled up, her flushed expression and her pretty pink puffy lips that was making it even harder for you to stay firm in your decision.
her hands still remained on your waist absentmindedly drawing patterns on your skin. "you know you don't have to go through with this." the way she had been going through the motions just to win a stupid bet that gojo would've let her win anyways was ridiculous.
shoko's lips were pressed into a hard line as she considered your response. you were right. regardless if she had won gojo would’ve caved but unfortunately she was stubborn as hell and wanted to prove a point.
so when day seven came rolling around shoko was ready to gloat in gojo’s as well as the all the naysayers faces who secretly bet that she wouldn’t make it through the week (cough cough meimei),
she strolled around campus trying to find the tall lanky white haired sadist who made her week hell but he was posted on another mission.
defeated, shoko headed back to her office her victory becoming less cool now that the person who she wanted to gloat to wasn’t even here. the staff group-chat sent their congratulations but it wasn’t the same. on her desk there was a card written in gojo’s familiar scrawl which read:
congrats for making it through the week! i hope you stop glaring at me in the hallways now, especially since i haven’t written a will yet lmao. i wish i could see you on your victory lap but duty calls hehe. enjoy your cigarettes! — gojo
shoko found the letter endearing and picked up the box of cigarettes he got for her. mild sevens or now known as mevius cigarettes. it’s not like she cared, she grew up calling them mild sevens and that’s what she’ll forever call them.
she grabbed her emergency lighter from her desk and slipped out the back of the building to have her celebratory cigarette. she was accompanied by a gorgeous sunset that the campus basked in making the school seem less eerie and unsettling. the motion of her pulling out a cigarette, lighting it and inhaling was muscle memory to her.
the first hit of nicotine after a week without it was like a relief, all the pent up tension just sliding off her soldiers with ease with each drag she took. a cloud of smoke left her lips as she sat with her back to the wall.
shoko really treasured these smoke breaks as they were a way to cope with the daily hell she experienced each day. the mangled corpses and curses she handled on the regular being just enough to fuel her nightmares for days.
however it wasn’t the worst sight she’s ever seen.
in retrospect the cigarettes paled in comparison to your sweet lips that she alone had the privilege of kissing each and every day. the dopamine rush she got each time rivalled any drug that she could think of.
shoko’s got a new addiction and it’s one that modern medicine cannot fix or provide a solution to, and it’s you.

Grab yourself some hot chocolate, a pair of cozy socks and sit with me by the fire as we listen to the best Christmas hits!

Last Christmas
A year after your break up with Suguru, your mutual friend Satoru decided it was the perfect time to bring everyone together, so he begged and pleaded for you to help him decorate for his yearly Satoru’s Spectacular Christmas Spirit Bash (yes, he thought of the name) and for some reason, you agreed. You just hoped you’d manage to leave in time before you do something you might regret.

It’s Beginning To Look a Lot Like Christmas
Shoko never let Satoru drag her into any of his shenanigans. So why did she find herself in one of the ugliest christmas sweaters she’d ever seen, standing on some poor unsuspecting family’s front porch singing Christmas carols of all things? Well, that’s easy really, it’s because you’re there too - looking mighty adorable sporting the second ugliest christmas sweater in existence right alongside her.

Baby, it’s Cold Outside!
Your best friend Satoru Gojo had a bad habit of hogging you all to himself - especially around the holidays - but he always knew when to share. That being said, despite you telling him about your very important date with the guy from on of your classes, he seemed to be abnormally clingy (which you didn’t even think was possible.) Hopefully your hot date won’t mind the messy hair and rosy cheeks you’d probably show up with…

Santa Baby
Your boyfriend Kento always made sure you had whatever you needed (and some!) So when he asked you to write him a Christmas list - you were at a loss for what to ask for. You already had everything that you could possibly need, so what could possibly be missing? Oh, right, you supposed there was one thing you wanted most…

Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree
The Christmas party Higuruma’s law firm would throw to “boost morale” always seemed to have the opposite effect; deflating his coworkers instead of cheering them up. He knew most of them were only attending because they had to but this year seemed different - and it was all because of the pretty little bartender dressed in a ridiculously cute red dress and santa hat.
▷ play now
Silver Bells
Santa’s Workshop was only open for two months out of the year - and they’ve been your favorite two months for the past decade. Seeing the smiley faced, rosy cheeked children accompanied by their equally bright-eyed parents always sparked joy within you, after all, Santa’s Workshop was all things merry. That was at least until your boss decided that hiring Ebeneezer Scrooge to be Santa was a bright idea. But, no need to worry, it was your job to turn frowns upside down after all! All in the name of Christmas spirit, of course!

You’re A Mean One, Mr. Grinch
Sukuna doesn’t get the appeal of any holiday but especially not Christmas. In fact, he hates it! Or, at least, he did. Then he stumbled across silly little you; a self proclaimed Christmas connoisseur that came into his nephews life and flipped it upside down. Follow his (mis)fortune as you introduce him and his adorable nephew to the true spirit of Christmas!

All I Want for Christmas Is You!
Both you and Yuta adored all things Christmas so it was no surprise that you and him were paired to decorate Jujutsu High for the upcoming Christmas dinner (courtesy of Satoru Gojo, of course). Now, where the hell did all that mistletoe go?
▷ play now
Mistletoe
After being paired with Yuta and his crush to cover Jujutsu High in Christmas cheer you and Yuji are making it your own personal mission to finally get Yuta and his crush together. Thankfully, with the holidays rolling around, mistletoe is far too easy to come by! Wait, why is it that you two always end up stuck in your own trap?
▷ play now
Winter Wonderland
Nobara and Yuji don’t know where Megumi keeps disappearing to every night after class and the excuses he’s been giving them are starting to get ridiculous (they refuse to believe Megumi is trying out meditation) Their solution? Follow him into town, of course!
▷ play now
Santa Tell Me
Spending the months cleaning up vomit that nervous children would leave you in the most ridiculous places (you could’ve sworn the fake presents didn’t even open) wasn’t your ideal pastime and neither was arguing with the ridiculously cute elf that you always seemed to be paired with for your shifts… Well, maybe the latter wasn’t so bad… Especially not when he would go out of his way to get you your favorite hot chocolate before every shift.

Tumblr media
you wake up to the sound of your girlfriend’s voice.
melodic and soft, low and saccharine; almost like she’s coaxing you out of hiding. a sound so lovely you wish you could drown in it, laced together with a distinctly raspy tilt, one you can only attribute to the copious amounts of cigarettes she smoked back in high school. a leftover residue, bittersweet memories ghosting her lips — one that gets you a little bit weak in the knees.
in the mornings, it’s particularly prominent, a little intoxicating. manifesting itself as a shiver down your spine, a jolt of your heartbeat, a flush on your skin for every word that she speaks. it’s enough to have you slipping from sleep’s embrace, carried back into the cradle of reality.
why you notice her voice first, and not the smell of something burning — or the sound of insistent beeping — is honestly beyond you.
it doesn’t take long for your sleepy brain to react, however, a pang of anxiety rushing through your slumbering veins. hurriedly stirring you awake. abrupting your dreamlike, drowsy state, tangled up in silken sheets with your neck smudged by lipstick marks; an alluring red, one shoko typically favors when she’s going out for a drink. coming home just a tiny bit tipsy, affectionate and giggly.
and when your eyelids finally flutter open, your mind melting into the motion of the waking world, you shoot up in a sudden bout of panic.
because fuck, you belatedly, groggily realize — that’s the fucking fire alarm.
and shoko is spewing curses, from afar, loud enough that you can hear it even through the fog of fatigue that clouds your brain. a raspy string of words that you don’t quite catch, but they’re enough to have you scrambling out of bed, nearly bumping into the doorframe as you kick the blanket off your legs.
”what happened?” you croak out, chest heaving a little, having stumbled into the smoke-filled kitchen. disgruntled, reeling with the aftermath of your deep slumber, cold air nipping at your bare skin. the balcony door is open, and the smell of rain invades your apartment.
when you look out the window, all you see is a gray sky, blanketed by a thick coating of wool. smothered by clouds, not a single ray of sunlight slipping through the cracks. the world smells dewy and sweet, asphalt and flowers melting into a nostalgic fragrance, one that reminds you a bit of high school smoke breaks — huddling under the slide at the nearest playground, watching a pretty girl wrap her lips around a cigarette, exhaling smoke just for it to melt into the pouring rain.
one that reminds you a bit of the woman right in front of you, balancing on a chair and stretching her goosebump-ridden arms towards the ceiling, wearing nothing but a lacey bra and a pair of unbuttoned jeans. messy hair that cascades down her back, brows furrowed, eyes simmering with irritation — before flitting over to meet your own.
shoko blinks. then sighs. ”you woke up?” she mutters, and you try not to shiver when the tremor of her voice deepens, morning-fatigue seeping into the syllables. “fuck. sorry, i —”
she stumbles a little, shifting her weight from one foot to another, and you take a step forward. on instinct, as if getting ready to cushion her fall. ready to be of service, in any way you can.
”don’t worry,” she fumbles with the fire alarm, clicking her tongue. nails scraping against plastic. “it’s fine, i just need to — there we go.”
finally, the beeping stops. and your shoulders relax, immediately, the tight little ball inside your chest untangling. with a deep inhale, the fragrance of espresso and smoke fills your nostrils, and a sense of calm washes over you. rooting your feet to the floor.
shoko settles down, too, seating herself on the wooden chair. a huff slipping from her lips. they’re smudged, a blurry red she still hasn’t found the energy to wipe away.
bringing a hand up to card through her hair, lithe fingers in between her messy auburn locks, she exhales. a blend between fatigue and relief.
”god. i need a cig.”
a moment passes. she raises her head, and sees the sleepy little pout playing at your lips — her eyes softening. blooming with something fond. giving you a smile, tired, small. but reassuring.
”i’m just kidding, love,” she chuckles. “relax.”
”don’t joke about that,” you frown, rubbing the sleep from your weary eyes. stifling a tiny yawn. ”.. took me so long to get you to quit.”
(sometimes you can still see the smoke leave her lungs when she exhales.)
shoko keeps smiling, but doesn’t say anything else. the pitter patter of rain against your balcony railing fills the silence of the kitchen, still brimming with a light layer of smoke, slowly dwindling. cold air drawing it out. clad only in one of suguru’s old t-shirts, you shiver, and shoko seems to notice.
“good morning,” she coaxes, opening her arms slightly — and you move forward, a moth to a flame. without thinking. “sorry for waking you.”
she wraps her arms around your waist, attaching her jaw to the curve of your shoulder, and you melt into the embrace. leaning close, to tuck yourself into her neck. she smells like lavender shampoo. “‘s fine,” you mumble, a yawn muffled into her collarbone. “what happened? are you okay?”
when her plump lips press against the sensitive skin of your neck, right next to one of the kiss marks she left there last night, you can’t help but shiver again. she must feel it, because you can hear the smile she’s trying to bite back in her voice when she answers.
“mm,” she hums, a gravelly noise that makes your throat clog up a little. “just burned something, it’s fine. don’t worry.”
tentatively, you take a step back. just to see her. gazing down at her, into her hazel eyes, the fading crescents beneath them. not as dark as they used to be, not as heavy with lost sleep.
shoko is gorgeous. always, every single day, but you think she’s particularly breathtaking like this. when it’s early, and she’s groggy and a little disheveled, eyes weary and lipstick smudged — bra strap close to slipping off her shoulder, black lace against pale skin, moles littering her forearms and chest like star clusters. oversized jeans that expose the curve of her waist, the fat of her hips, and you don’t notice how intently you’re staring until shoko’s raspy voice reaches your burning ears.
“eyes up here, baby.”
you do as you’re told, and she stifles a chuckle. eyes rich with amusement. you try not to blush.
“sorry.” you chew at the inside of your cheek. eyes trailing to the houseplants by the windowsill. “.. you’re just so pretty.”
shoko tilts her head, an exasperated little breath rolling off her tongue. almost a coo. she’s incapable of blushing; but if she wasn’t, you’re sure she'd blush.
“thanks.” her touch is light, fingertips trailing down the expanse of your arm. “you are, too. red is a good colour on you.”
you blink. shoko’s eyes are crinkled at the edges, soft lines of crows’ feet, and you huff when you realize she’s talking about the marks on your neck. suddenly a little self-conscious, you bring a hand up to rub at the skin — as if hoping to wipe them away. you doubt it works. shoko just breathes out an airy chuckle, getting up from her seat.
she looks tired, still. stretching her limbs out, sleepily, blinking drowsily.
and it’s odd, you think. that she got up this early, that she didn’t cling to you and make you stay with her in bed like she usually does. you don’t know anyone who loves sleeping in more than shoko does. especially after a night out.
so it’s strange. very strange.
“hey, sho.”
“hm?”
you tilt your head. “why are you up this early, anyway?”
she blinks, and then glances at the clock on the wall. ticking idly, counting down. when she looks back at you, she’s got a single eyebrow raised. “it’s not really early.”
“for you it is,” you quip, something resembling a grin tugging at your lips. and she rolls her eyes, smiling, before linking her arm with yours. bringing you to the stove.
“i was, uh —“ a pause. she does a little cough under her breath, clearing her throat. “trying to make coffee.”
silently, you look at the mess in front of you; what used to be your squeaky-clean stovetop, now stained with a muddy, rusty residue. an unassuming coffee pot sits to the side, having seemingly boiled over, smoke still drifting up into the air.
shoko cringes, a little, before a wry smile makes its way to her lips. ”it was…” she clicks her tongue. sighing softly. ”an attempt.”
”… wait.” you turn to look at her, dubiously, and she avoids your gaze. ”that’s what you burned? coffee?” still no answer. a tiny smile tugs at your lips, and you can’t help it if your voice comes out sounding a little teasing. ”how is that even possible?”
”look,” shoko exhales, heavy. ”i don’t know, okay? i think it was the coffee grounds, or something. i look away for one second, and it’s just —”
a little giggle slips from your lips, and shoko shoots you a glare. mostly harmless, but she untangles her arm from your own. ”sorry, it’s just —” you apologize, failing to hide your amusement. ”why didn’t you just use the espresso machine, honey?”
she bites her lip, and you think she might be just a little embarrassed. averting her gaze, briefly flitting towards the machine in question. ”… i didn’t know how to use it,” she mutters. ”i’ve seen you do it, obviously, but i never paid attention to the steps.”
a smile graces your lips. “it’s not that complicated once you know how it works,” you nudge her arm with your elbow. ”it just looks that way.”
she hums. a click of her tongue, as she adjusts her bra strap. ”well, anyway. i tried. so.”
”right.” you try to stifle a grin, to no avail. ”so… you burned your coffee.”
”and woke you up.” she grins, herself, just a tiny bit self-deprecating. but pretty, always, hair falling over her eyes when she tilts her head. ”a mess, aren’t i?”
”not at all.”
shoko looks at you, and your eyes meet hers. unflinchingly. tired irises falling into the gentle hue of your own, trickling down to the curve of your lips. there’s an honesty to your voice that she’s never quite been able to deal with.
(love, she thinks. a kind of love she finds somewhat hard to stomach. a sea of acceptance that she fears she’ll eventually drown in.)
before she can properly fall into a morning spiral, you stretch your neck a bit, idly, and she gets a good look at the red marks littering your skin. the way your pulse beats at the base of your throat. tender, slight, a mantra she’s grown just a little bit addicted to.
”why, though?” you hum, and shoko blinks. snapped out of her thoughts, and back into reality. back into you, the faux pout on your lips. playful, but a little confused. ”i thought i was the coffee brewer of this relationship…”
and it’s true. you’ve been making shoko’s morning cups of coffee for a while, now, even before you moved in together. she likes it black, sometimes with a drop of cream, sometimes with a cube of sugar. never both. you think it’s very like her, to tiptoe that line between bitter and sweet — never entirely giving in to one or the other. there’s a balance to shoko, something stable. something for you to hold on to, a bitter tinge or syrupy taste that always leaves you yearning for more.
truthfully, your coffee brewing skills aren’t anything special. but it makes shoko happy, to wake up and stumble into the kitchen, being able to hug your back. being handed a cup of fresh coffee. sipping from it in silence, muttering out a groggy good morning that makes your heart flutter.
(to you, it’s precious. that lilt of her voice, that bittersweet tinge. the dearest thing in the world.)
plump bottom lip trapped between her teeth, shoko furrows her brows. ever so slightly. nails tapping at the edge of the kitchen counter, a series of satisfying clicks against the marble. “… well.”
she clears her throat, but doesn’t say anything else. a moment passes. you try to find the answer in the curve of her lips, the crease of her brow, in the depths of her eyes — but you don’t succeed.
something discomforting settles in the bottom of your throat. almost uncertain, maybe a bit anxious. sheepish, as your tired mind spins in circles. parting your lips. hesitant.
“do you… not like the way i make it?” there’s a dejected tilt to your voice when it spills out, one that makes you feel a little silly. so you smile, or try to, eyes trailing towards the windows; you note that the rain has grown heavier. “i can change how —“
“what?” shoko cuts you off. “no. no, of course not — your coffee’s perfect. honestly.”
again, your eyes meet. and again, shoko seems to be struggling with finding the right words. or maybe she’s struggling to voice them.
“i just… haah.” she brings a hand up to her face, pinching the bridge of her nose. you just watch, silent, hungry to hear the thoughts she’s not letting you in on.
a beat. again, the sound of the rain against steel railings, the scent of honeydew and concrete. espresso-flavored smoke, almost entirely faded, leaving only cold air to nip at your thighs.
and again, as always, inevitably, your eyes are fixed on shoko — a moth to her flame. helpless to the cinders that ghost at your skin whenever she looks at you. a certain contemplation swims inside her eyes, simmering beneath the surface, as she chews gently at the plush of her lips. before turning to face you.
you can only blink. but shoko finally speaks, clearing her throat in a way that strikes you as rather sheepish.
“well — you’re always the one doing all the work. aren’t you?” her voice trickles out into the air, low and saccharine, a blanket pulled over your shoulders. so soft you hold your breath and strain your ears, just to make sure you hear it. “i guess i figured… i don’t know.”
shoko pauses, again, and you can almost delude yourself into thinking there’s a cherry red tint to the tips of her ears. when she parts her lips, that usually carefree voice of hers sounds almost meek. almost, but not quite. more like unsure. embarrassed?
another moment passes, entirely silent. shoko swallows her pride.
“.. satoru always brags about suguru making him those fucked up sugary drinks he likes,“ she mumbles. turning around, to rest her back against the counter, looking out at the downpour. “says it makes him feel so loved. or whatnot. so i just —“
she waves her hand, haphazardly.
“you know.“
a beat. then another. you can physically feel your lips part, a kind of surprise weaving itself into the contours of your face.
and when you finally speak, your voice comes out a little garbled, scrambling for the right words. not sure if you should feel deeply amused, or just a tiny bit horrified. “wait. you’re saying you…” a moment passes. silent, slow, and all you can do is blink owlishly. in disbelief.
“… got inspired by suguru?”
shoko groans, deep and gravelly, almost comically agonized. covering her face with her pretty hands. “don’t say it,” she pleads, “you’re making it sound as dumb as it is.”
a little giggle slips from your lips. accidental, but she still shoots you a displeased look, huffing under her breath. crossing her arms just to tap at her forearm with her nimble fingers. frowning.
“don’t laugh at me.”
“sorry,” you search for her gaze, but she keeps looking ahead. so stubborn. “i don’t mean to, ‘s just — not very like you, y’know?”
shoko exhales. nearly a huff, but not quite. and you think she must be embarrassed, gnawing at her lip like that, fingers eagerly searching for something to fidget with. it makes you soften, impeccably, the blood inside your veins warming up beneath your skin. stirring you, coaxing you into soothing her. your very own heartbeat seems to be a little enamored with shoko ieiri.
”i appreciate the thought,” you smile. a tender tone, sincere. lingering with amusement. “really. but let’s not base our entire relationship around satoru and suguru of all people, alright?”
and again, she sighs. brittle, a little fatigued. brows scrunching together. ”look, i —”
a pause. she gnaws at her plump bottom lip, eyelashes fluttering like a battered heartbeat. her voice comes out sounding soft, all duvet pillows and fresh lavender, a lilt that anchors you to earth. sweet words. so honest it makes your breath hitch.
”i want to take care of you.”
and this time, you’re the flustered one. burning under her gaze, feeling a heat blossom on your skin. feeling the fervent pitter patter of your heartbeat, as her pretty eyes look into yours. a nice mocha brown.
but even with the fresh embarrassment trickling through your veins, you find it in you to speak. desperate, maybe, to cross the distance between you — even when it borders on non-existent. desperate to feel your heartbeats synchronize, figuratively or literally. to stitch them together.
“i want to take care of you, too,” you echo, looking down at the floor. and then back at your girlfriend. hesitant, a tad shy. but sincere.
a sincerity so palpable it makes shoko feel a little jealous.
(sometimes, she finds herself wanting to put a hand inside your chest. dig around your organs, run her fingertips down every single one, until she finds what she's looking for. that miraculous something that makes you stick around, that makes you so frighteningly easy to love. that makes her want to safeguard you so terribly.)
”then let’s take care of each other,” she breathes, a small smile slipping into the curve of her lips. reaching out to brush against your knuckle, weave your fingers together. delicate.
she clears her throat. “… i guess.”
and you can’t help but smile. somewhat cheeky, a little teasing. “ah,” your eyes crinkle, and you stifle a coo. “did that embarrass you?”
a sharp little scoff. shoko gives you a lazy grin, paired with a soft roll of her eyes. brushing her thumb across your knuckles, even still. “oh, shut up.”
the world seems to still, ever so slightly, as you look into each other’s eyes. like everything else is just background noise, from the pitter patter of the rain to the fading smell of coffee all around you. shoko looks at you like she’s trying to see inside your brain, see what makes you tick, see you for what you are.
and when she eventually leans in for a kiss, you’re pliant. expectant. her lips against yours, breathing you in, as soft as ever. like she’s afraid of getting too greedy. she tastes like nectar and cosmetics.
“give me some time,” she says, after pulling back. hands on your waist, squeezing softly. “i’ll make you another cup right now.”
”sure you don’t want me to do it?” you ask. “i don’t mind.”
another little scoff. offended. ”look, i’m not incompetent, okay? i’m just not used to it.” she untangles herself from you, warmth slipping away. you will yourself not to chase it. “just stand there and look pretty for me.”
and she smiles, when those words make you giggle, infected by your sleepy joy. something soft and silky blooms inside her ribcage, mirrored by the glimmer in your eyes when you intertwine your hands again. fingertips brushing against each other, delicate, a love that’s handled with care.
”.. i like making you coffee,” you whisper after a beat. smiling. under your breath, like you’re telling her a secret. ”it makes me happy.”
a moment passes. something in shoko’s bones still, for a second, enough for you to notice. and her eyes fill with a kind of hesitance. doubt, maybe. or fear.
when shoko opens up to you, it’s always like this. sleepy, rainy days, or tipsy afternoons. in no more than a whisper, a fragile breath, the ghost of a confession. when you can feel her heartbeat, one finger on her wrist, listening to the rhythm of her pulse. intimate. a little clumsy, but…
”i just don’t want you to spend too much of yourself on me.”
the words are spoken in passing, almost casually, a lighthearted kind of resignation. a hungry ghost. one that follows her, follows you. suguru and satoru, too. there’s a lump in her throat, you can tell, something that makes it a little harder to say what she means. an intimacy that frightens her in a way nothing else can; frightened to hold it in her palms, to keep it close without having it break apart.
(not just her — you all are. all four of you. that’s why you've always been together, you think, why you always will be. four hedgehogs huddling together in the cold of night, too desperate for warmth to stay away from each other's spines.)
carefully, almost cautiously, you bring her hand to your lips. as if you’re handling a flimsy sheet of glass. featherlight, a touch so tender you hope she knows what you’re about to say before the words leave your throat.
“you’re worth it,” is whispered against her skin, your lips against her knuckles. shoko softens, but you think the sigh that slips from her lips sounds just a little shaky. “always.”
and finally, you know you aren't deluding yourself. it’s there, visible, the cherry red of her ears; a red that matches the lipstick on your skin. a flush that never travels down to her face. but it’s enough.
she clears her throat. voice beginning to change shape, slowly but surely, morning fatigue peeled off with the ticking of the clock. there’s still a raspy residue, leftover smoke that’ll never quite leave her lungs, but it’s silkier now. trickling like honey from her parted lips.
and it’s terribly soft, her tongue twisting around the vowels, a low lilt that drips with tenderness. she wills herself to smile. tired, but fond. “just let me make you one cup, then.”
so you do.
you let her, after briefly pointing out the functions of the far too expensive espresso machine that satoru bought you when you first moved in, and she listens intently. those pretty eyes, the intelligence behind them, her lips pursed in focus. shoko’s a genius, you’ve always thought — so effortlessly good at memorization, at figuring out how things work. what ties everything together.
you think it’s a little comical that she struggled so much with making coffee, of all things, but you choose to attribute it to her slight hangover.
because she’s focused, when she begins to fiddle with the machine. attentive. as if she’s dissecting it. a satisfaction in the way she moves, the way everything clicks into place as she works. everything serves a purpose, every single part in the machinery, every tube or pump of caffeine. she compares it to the human body, a glint in her eyes, and you can’t disagree.
all you can do is watch her. silently, entirely mesmerized. sitting on the kitchen counter, bare thighs against the marble, swinging your legs. telling her about the dream you had, while she listens. always.
a fresh, thick aroma of espresso and rainwater begins to waft through the apartment. one you drink in, greedy, steam filling your lungs. as you admire how the tiny droplets bounce off the hyacinths blooming on your balcony.
and when she’s finished, producing one cup of espresso, tailored to your liking, you can’t still the beating of your heart. unsure if you should blame it on the caffeine yet to enter your veins, or the proud smile that lingers on your girlfriend’s lips. maybe the way her fingers curl around the handle, the way a soft here, baby, spills from her smudged lips. all of the above, probably.
she’s gorgeous. breathtaking. sometimes you want to give her everything, more than you could live without. your heart, your lungs, your eyes. anything she asks for.
but she would never. all she’ll ever need is for you to keep sticking around, keep telling her about your silly dreams, keep letting her feel the beat of your pulse at the base of your throat. a mantra she’s fallen a little bit in love with.
and when you put your lips against the ceramic, and a bittersweet scent fills your lungs, you think you can taste it. that care, a love soft enough to mend all the jagged edges of your heart.
shoko smiles. smoothing a stray eyelash from your skin, thumb against your cheekbone. “how is it?”
(you swear it’s the best cup of coffee you’ve ever had.)

★ Content : 🔞 light smut, strangers who r soulmates, thigh riding, breast play
Tumblr media
Shoko kissing you so hard that she knocks the wind out of you.
Neither of you know each other's names, but you've shared these lustful, needy glances all night. When she passes you in the hallway, one electric look is all it takes for you two to take each other's hands and run off together — totally abandoning the Christmas party.
You two make out like you're long lost soulmates, yet neither of you say a word. The temperature rises into a sweltering heat. Without much other options, you and her climb into the backseat of her car and slowly strip each other's clothes off.
By now your friends are texting you, asking if you left the party early because they noticed you've just vanished.
Well Shoko Ieiri is responsible for whisking you away.
It was fate to meet someone like her tonight. Your spirits complement each other perfectly, nobody has ever made you feel so alive with just eye contact.
Exchanging breaths with you, staring intensely into the depths of your soul with a burning desire. There's the lingering scent of smoke on her sweater — which you'd be wearing by the end of the night after hastily pulling it on to cover your exposed breasts.
Just like so many times, Shoko's friends interrupt her. There's a tap at the car window, giggling voices behind it sounding like a very drunk Suguru clinging to a very sober Satoru.
Shoko is just starting to nip at your breasts while riding your thigh for friction when these idiots show up.
"Shoko, need ya to take us home, please."
She sighs and mutters a deep apology to you, her mood turning sour. Rolling down the window, she glares holes into Satoru who peers right in.
"Oh, did I interrupt something? Sorry." he says cheekily, watching you pull Shoko's sweater down over your breasts. She's just left in her white shirt, chest heaving from the short sexual high that the two of you enjoyed.

Tumblr media
ever since the day shoko met you, in spring 2005, when she moved into the tokyo metropolitan curse technical college’s dormitory and you had introduced yourself to her, kindly offering to help her move in since you already had settled the day prior—she found you annoying.
“hi, i’m [last name] [name]! and you are?!”
you stood there in the hallway, a wide smile plastered on your face with teeth that glinted as bright as the sun that filtered through her dorm room’s window. your eyes were filled with excitement—as if literal stars were shining in them.
annoying.
and this was just her first time meeting you? fuck, she wasn’t in the mood for what could possibly come out of this interaction—hopefully just a once-off meet and greet. maybe a few greetings here and there in the future, perhaps.
she arched an eyebrow, unimpressed, crossing her arms against her chest as she leaned against the doorframe.
“ieiri shoko,” she responded curtly, her tone flat. she hoped that that would be the end of the conversation—but, of course, that was just wishful thinking.
“it’s nice to meet you, ieiri-chan!” you struck your hand out, offering a handshake.
she straightened her posture, dropping her arms and her hand meeting yours, barely shaking it before bringing it back to her side.
“likewise,” she nodded, bored. “drop the honorific. call me shoko. we’re probably in the same year or whatever, after all.”
your eyes lit up even more—as if the stars inside transcended and floated around you this time—and your lips parted, a soft gasp escaping from them.
shoko fought the urge to roll her eyes and groan. she didn't think giving you first name privileges would elicit such a reaction; maybe she shouldn’t have.
but instead, she pursed her lips in a thin line and shot her eyebrows up for a split second before schooling her normal, laid-back expression.
“okay, will do, ieir—i mean, shoko! you can call me [name] then. no honorifics needed either!” you cheered, your voice echoing throughout the hallway.
annoying and bubbly? god, hasn’t she suffered enough from this interaction? she was definitely going to need to smoke a cigarette after this.
“[name]. got it,” she sucked her teeth, a tight-lipped smile on her face.
you nodded your head at her acknowledgement, satisfied to have met your dorm neighbour and potential fellow classmate.
just as you were about to bid her a good evening further and leave, you noticed the amount of suitcases and storage baskets over her shoulder on the floor of her room—at least from the small space that you were able to see from your vantage point.
“oh! do you need any help with that?” you offered.
“no, i’m fine. it’s nothing i can’t do.”
“come on, shoko, i insist! we could maybe get to know each other better,” you leaned forward to her with your hands clasped behind your back, teasing her with a smile. “you never know, this could be the start of a beautiful friendship!”
this time, shoko did roll her eyes. great, just great. exactly what she needed—more time spent with this random person she just met.
however, she turned her head over her shoulder, glancing around her room—her new home for the next following years—and took note of how she still hadn't made much progress. granted, she had just moved in an hour or two ago—and maybe she could use the help.
shoko let a tired—more like, defeated—sigh, her shoulders sagging. reluctantly, she turned to face you with a blank expression; she was not going to admit that she needed the help straight out.
“fine,” she stated, opening her door wider for you to pass, looking away to avoid seeing you beam with joy. “but no small talk. you’re just here to help and then you’re outta here, got it?”
“deal!” you promised, a firm nod of your head.
but, as shoko can recall, it had only taken you ten minutes for you to go back on your word when you began questioning her belongings—she didn’t share much; her replies were clipped and she just wanted you to stop talking and asking questions.
she didn’t admit it then—she didn’t want to—but as the conversation began flowing, your company was nice, to say the least.
so much so that instead of letting things end with you going back to your dorm once her’s was fully decorated, shoko invited you to go with her to the nearby convenience store.
it was just to accompany her to buy cigarettes, and buy whatever you craved—on her, she stated. it was to serve as a “thank you” for helping her out—it totally wasn’t because she actually enjoyed talking to you despite having just met you. totally not.
it did surprise her, only a little bit, that you agreed—eagerly, may she add. she thought you probably had other plans after helping her. instead, she later found herself walking back to the dormitory building from the convenience store with you talking her ear off.
and as the sun began to set, dipping into the horizon, the sky was a beautiful mix of blue and purple. the two of you were walking side by side, in-step with one another—she was smoking a cigarette, you were sucking on a strawberry-flavoured lollipop; pulling it out and using it as a pointer every time you saw a new star reveal itself in the sky to show her.
now looking back, after all these years, you were right.
that was the start of a beautiful friendship—and it bloomed, like the flowers of spring, into something more.
