i think i’d need to look at it again to be sure but while i can see that being it my first impression was it looked like kendall went to grab him or hit him or whatever and roman turned his head away on instinct?? not necessarily that he had something in his mouth. but idk i’m trying not to be fixated on trailers since so much has been red herrings or stuff clipped together already

pure instinct answer: shiv. but to cite my sources:

in shit show at the fuck factory, the shivrome fight seems fairly well-matched, rome taking the element of surprise with a slap, shiv quickly getting him in a headlock but rome just as quickly getting out of it. then later in the episode shiv uses the element of surprise as well, making roman flinch so hard he knocks his head on a door. they'd give it their all with each other, each perfectly willing to fight as dirty as they need to.

shivken we haven't really seen. i don't think ken has the guts. shiv, meanwhile, would absolutely pull a "🥺 you're gonna hit me? 🥺 your own baby sister? 🥺" then she would probably annihilate him.

so far as kenrome goes, as we saw in hunting and even a little bit in the pilot, kendall is ready and willing to overpower roman by whatever means necessary with the right motivation. he's got strength on his side that roman doesn't, especially since roman's only hiring personal trainers to feel the touch of other men on his body in a desexualised setting. 👀 but i digress. kendall can also think on his feet in a fight, judging by how quick he was to switch to face id to open roman's phone. directly after that, though, roman did kick him so fucking hard that we changed scenes. (i'm guessing bc kieran genuinely did kick the absolute fuck out of jeremy lmao rip.) there is that well-placed too much birthday shove, but in fairness that was not kendall, that was a husk of a man, it hardly counts.

oh and real quick before i forget (in the long-standing tradition of succ fans who always forget), connor would not fight his siblings. not because he's like, their sweet older brother who doesn't want to hurt them uwu, or whatever, but bc he's too wuss for that much conflict. he wouldn't even try.

so, in conclusion. here's what i think would happen. connor throws up his hands, says, "i'm staying out of this one, i abstain, resolve it amongst yourselves," and walks right out. shiv and rome form an alliance to take down ken, shiv abruptly turns on roman and she and kendall take him down together. but there's no clear winner yet. ken tells shiv to just give up, she refuses, tells him to do the same. he also refuses, prepares to fight her but can't, she's his baby sister. 🥺 shiv socks him so fucking hard he's knocked out, shiv wins, who do you think you are i am. \o/

on a slightly related note to last post, I love the ConRome and ShivKen mirrors are so tightly drawn in Mass, like you've got Connor understanding Roman's sex repulsion while the hypersexual twosome can't fathom it, and Shiv looking for comfort in Kendall after feeling humiliated by the rest of her family (which he of course ruins but hey)

god yeah i was literally just thinking about the shiv & kendall and connor & roman of it all and where those lines get drawn. i really like your point about connor understanding more about what’s going on with roman. have we talked about that before? like maybe knowing more than he wants to even admit? i also do wonder if connor’s choice of who to defend at any given moment is very subject to who seems most vulnerable at the time, whose side he’s gotten most recently etc. and then with shiv and ken i guess they’ve both experienced having logan promise them something and take it away, so they’re kind of coming into this with more similar motivations than the other two? and the disconnect with the two of them is mostly about how to go forward? if that makes sense?

sat high upon my cloud of judgement and innate understanding where i will always insist that shiv’s idea of love being 28 different things like love jealousy revenge greed etc can only be understood by kendall who although it’s not explicit essentially believes the same thing and that’s why their relationship is what it is. and it’s why they always say i love you before dealing the death blow
