Promise
promise | saratogaroad rating: G wordcount: 1913 characters: Shiro, Keith, Reader (GN-OC) relationships: Shiro/Reader other tags: Grief/Mourning, reunions warnings: None.
You sigh against his shoulder, but he pulls away to look at you. His eyes are warm, filled with love that makes your heart grow in size. He puts his hand on your cheek.
"Hey." He kisses your forehead, your nose. "I'll come back. I promise."
---- What if Shiro left behind an S/O when he left for the Kerberos Mission? A year is a very long time to wait. (Written pre-Season 2, and long before we knew Adam existed. Tried to keep it gender-neutral all the same.)
--
You've been dating Shiro--Takashi Shirogane but he really does prefer Shiro--for almost a year when he's assigned to the Kerberos mission. Pluto's fourth moon, you can't even see the thing from the telescope you've dragged up onto the Garrison's flat roof. The fact that it's too cloudy to make out even Mars doesn't help, but Shiro smiles at your attempts anyway.
"Hey," He says as you plop down beside him, frustrated, "It's only for a year." He reaches up to run his fingers through your hair, rubbing your shoulder as you lean against him. "I'll be back before you know it."
"A year's a long time, Takashi." You say in response, the rare use of his given name turning his smile wry. He pulls you in closer until you're almost smushed together, the pulse in his neck strong beneath your ear.
"Absence makes the heart grow fonder." You can hear him grin, sure and confident. You love that about him. Barely graduated with last year's class and already taking a science team to the outer reaches of the system. Sure, it's just a science mission and they'll be back within a year, but it's not just any prodigy that gets chosen for this. "Though you're pretty fond of me already."
"Oh," You laugh, "I'll show you fond!"
There's a certain heat to the kiss, a certain heat that pools in your belly every time he kisses you like this, and you run your fingers through his short cropped hair to pull him close, his hands on your back to do the same. You kiss until you're both breathless, flushed and leaning on one another. Below, the Garrison calls for lights out in ten minutes. You sigh against his shoulder, but he pulls away to look at you. His eyes are warm, filled with love that makes your heart grow in size. He puts his hand on your cheek.
"Hey." He kisses your forehead, your nose. "I'll come back. I promise."
----
He lied. He doesn't come back.
----
Life goes on like it always has after he's gone. The Garrison has a moment of silence, both for Shiro and the Holts, but nothing changes. Classes, assignments, internships and training...it's all the same. Only the color's been leeched out, you think to yourself, drained through the Shiro-shaped hole in your chest. He was gone for so long that his dorm was already long cold, his scent faded. His things are boxed in your dorm where he asked you to keep them, clothes and accolades and personal effects. There's no next of kin, family long gone and buried. There was just you, Shiro, and Keith.
Keith, who gets himself kicked from the Garrison within a month of Shiro's death. Shiro was his anchor, his best friend, his reason to be better, and now Shiro is gone. There is just you and Keith now, and you're not an anchor. Not the kind he needs, anyway. You spend what free time you have with Keith, trying to keep him from collapsing in on himself like the star you and Shiro knew he could be, even if in the desert the only thing that'll come down is the ramshackle hut he calls home. You don't talk much--the only connection you had was Shiro--but you think he appreciates you being there anyway.
"Do you think he's out there?" He asks you one late night, when everything is pitch dark except for the moon and stars. Trying to find Kerberos through the viewfinder of a telescope, you don't look up even as your heart skips a beat and your stomach knots itself up again. You know who he's talking about, know the Shiro-shaped hole in your chest with its still throbbing edges.
He has one, too.
You sigh, sitting back on your hands. Stars glimmer overhead, as they always have. As they always will. Shiro's hands ghost through your hair, grown out since the last time you saw him. Everything's the same, everything's changed. You swallow hard.
"...I don't know, Keith," You say, unable to voice the words you know to be true. That Shiro really is dead and gone, not just trapped somewhere like in those novels you used to laugh over together. "I don't know." ---
Months pass. A year since Shiro left comes and goes without fanfare, without mention. Classes are ongoing, graduation for your year next month. Cadets wash in, cadets wash out. Life continues as it always has.
Until, one night, it doesn't. Keith calls you in the dead of night, the hour so late it's early. He tells you to come to the shack, that he needs your eyes. He never calls, not without a good reason, and so you go. He picks you up at the edge of the Garrison property, hoverbike eating up the desert like it's so much paved road. The shack stands, his notes and diagrams and charts pinned to the wall. You've been out here doing this before, helping him look for whatever calls him to those cliffs and canyons, but there's more to work with now.
"I've almost got it," He says to you as you tack a photo to the wall, uncaring of your eyes wanting to close and stay closed for a few hours. "I just..." He rakes both hands through his hair, the bags under his eyes thicker than before. "I...Shiro would have figured it out by now."
He's right, you think to yourself. Shiro would know what to do. But he's not here anymore. He'll never be here again.
You still can't bring yourself to say it. It's been a year, but you can't bring yourself to say he's gone. There's a new name on the marker the Garrison has, for those lost to the stars and space in the name of Progress, three new names and a small memorial ceremony the day they were revealed, but you still can't say it even to yourself.
"...Yeah," You finally whisper, smoothing wrinkled papers just to do something with your hands. "He would have."
Keith's next words die in a wash of fire. You both rush to the window as it lights up like daylight, like sunrise. Only it's not. It's a fireball. He's a step ahead of you to rush outside, heat like summer cooking the desert sand as a fireball lights the sky. You watch it go, the shape irregular, metals gleaming in the light of re-entry. It's not a meteor. It's a sort of pod, black even against the flames that chase it down. Thoughts of a missile, of an attack on the Garrison, pass through your mind before they go up in flames as the thing, whatever it is, crashes into the desert with a plume of dust, not smoke and fire. Not a missile then, but what?
Keith is on his bike before you can turn to ask, calling that he's going to check this out, and he's gone before you can react or even hope to stop him.
Again, you are alone.
You hope the Shiro-shaped hole in your chest doesn't add a Keith-sized addition to it tonight, but he has your only ride out of the desert. There is nothing to do but wait, tidying the tiny shack and stacking boxes. There's some of Shiro's things here, clothes and books that make your heart jump to your throat even though you knew they'd be here. For the thousandth time, you wish he was here, back with you, back after the mission was completed with flying colors.
For the thousandth time, he is not here.
The roar of Keith's bike jolts you away from the sadness, throaty and heavier than before, as if carrying a weight it's not meant to carry. You throw the door open, step into the desert wind, and stare. There are five on a bike meant for two at the most, Keith and three faces that you know, sort of. They're in a younger year, faces passed in the hallways and names passed in gossip. They aren't your focus. Your focus is on the man between Keith and the lanky one as they jump down, on a familiar face you thought you'd never see again.
Shiro.
Your voice has left you, heart pounding as they stumble past. It's Shiro. His face is different, cheekbones hollowed out and skin pale in a way you've never seen him before, a shock of white in his overgrown hair that was once all black. But it's him. You'd know him anywhere.
"What happened?" You ask, following them inside, though it's more of a shriek because how is this possible? He was gone and there was a memorial and there was nothing but loss and now he's here again! You want to shake Kieth for answers, but you know that he has as few as you do.
"Sedation," Keith finally grits out as he and the other boy set Shiro down on Keith's cot, the blanket folded neatly in your need to do something. "He'll wake up soon."
And then he's rounding on the others, all bluster and growling and shoving. But your focus isn't on them. It's still on Shiro as you drop to your knees beside the cot, unsure if any of this is real or just an elaborate dream. He's breathing, chest rising and falling beneath the odd black bodysuit and torn purple shirt. He's thinner than before, muscles stark lines along his tall frame, a dark scar across his nose. Slowly, you reach out to touch him. He doesn't disappear, doesn't decay or anything like you'd expect a corspe to do, and you muffle a sob behind your other hand.
He's real. He's really here. You take his hand, squeeze it hard, and don't let go.
An hour passes. Two. Three. Sunrise comes as the silence grows awkward, Keith sitting on the edge of the cot like a hound on guard. The other three huddle in the corner together, unsure and insecure, but you don't lift your gaze from Shiro's slumbering body. You wait, wondering, hoping, praying. He's home he just has to wake up and then--
And then he does. A soft noise, a blink at the ceiling, before he stiffens. His hand in yours goes sweaty, clammy, and he jerks his head to stare at you, eyes wide and face carved into something like terror. Your heart skips a beat even as Keith moves, ready to pull you back if this goes bad, but Shiro stops. Stares at you, pulse racing beneath your fingers. His breath hitches as you hold yours, daring to hope nothing's wrong and he remembers you, daring to hope that he's still Shiro, the man you loved.
The man you still love.
The tense silence stretches. You stare at each other, his eyes meeting yours. But then, slowly, he pulls his hand from yours.
"You're..." His voice is hoarse, raspy from disuse. He stares at you, drinking you in like you're the first person he's seen in a year. Maybe you are. "...You're real?"
You smile, just a little, as your breath catches in your throat and your eyes fill with tears. He reaches up to put a hand on your cheek, gasping as he feels warmth beneath his fingers. Shiro's not a crier, has never been a crier, but in that moment you think he might start. You take his hand in yours again, feeling his pulse racing still.
"I'm real. You're home."

idk how to do requests its my first time doing this but could you do Shiro from voltron legendary defender x ftm reader?
Spoilers if ya havent watched it!!
Ok so like yk where that one episode Shiro disappeared and came back after a year and he just immediately went to reader and just fucks him.... soft dom Shiro brainrot... can be a mix of fluff and smut also u can do this req anytime u want no pressure (i have bad memory so i'll eventually forget this LMAO and i lovelovelove how u write i THRIVE with it)
You don't have to worry about spoiling the series to me, I've watched it all over and over Little note about the show : I actually enjoyed it all, even season 8. The only think I don't like is allura x lance, and that Lotor was a bad guy. Allura and lotor should have got together, and lance and keith should have got together. I would also accept keith and shiro.
And thanks for the compliment! I'm glad you like how I write honestly most of it is word vomit so I'm glad others like it too
He had been through hell. Being kidnapped by the Galra had made him mentally exhausted. But most of all. He had missed you.
You. You were his everything. The thought of you had gotten him through his imprisonment. He had almost given in plenty of times. But the memory of your smile, the way you would say his name, and the idea of one day seeing you again, it all kept him going.
And when he managed to escape? All he could think about was you. The ride back to earth in that escape pod was harsh, and he was drifting in and out of consciousness. But he could have sworn he whispered your name throughout the whole trip.
When Keith and the gang rescued him, he begged them to take him back to you. Which they happily obliged.
The reunion was tearful, and he whispered your name over and over like a prayer, holding you tightly until you were just both crying on the floor, embraced.
"I missed you. So much. I'm here, sweetheart, I'm alive. I'm with you."
He kept apologising, and you almost couldn't believe it was real. Takashi Shirogane, your Shiro, was back. You'd been led to believe he was dead. All of the military and all your friends had told you to give up. You'd grieved and cried for months.
And now he was back. You didn't blame him, of course, and so you shut up his apologies with a kiss. You were desperate to feel his lips on yours again, to feel his warmth, to confirm that he was really alive and here with you. He eagerly reciprocated the kiss, wrapping his arms around your waist. He pulled away, about to apologise for the coldness of his new arm, but you just kissed him again.
It was cold, yes, but you didn't care. You wanted your arms around you, no matter what they were made of.
It didn't take long until you were heavily making out, drinking in the taste of each other. He held the back of your head with one hand, with the other sliding down to grasp at your hip. He was unwilling to let go. Neither were you.
He barely managed to pull away enough to pick you up and carry you to the bed, pulling you onto his lap. And it was straight back to kissing again, tearing off each other's clothes, lost in a hazy fog of need, want, love and lust.
There was no need for more foreplay than this. You were completely soaked, and he was hard as a rock. You were ready. Ready to feel his big cock stretching you out. Which it did.
Before he was kidnapped, you were a little more accomodating, considering you were used to taking his cock. But this time, as you sank down, you could feel every vein on his cock, as it stretched you out for the first time in nearly a year.
"Gods... you're so tight, baby boy. Am i hurting you? If I am, we can stop and-"
Well you were having none of that. You sank yourself fully down on his cock, causing you to whimper and him to throw his head back in pleasure, a chesty moan leaving his throat.
"Oh, wow. You're just as voracious as I remember. That's my good little prince, bounce on my cock. Please, baby boy."
How could you refuse such a humble request? Your hips instantly got moving, bouncing and grinding and gyrating. No particular rhythmn, just the desperate need to be together as one. And it was heaven. For both of you.
He was seeing the person who had gotten him through the worst times of his life, bouncing and moaning on his cock. Seeing your hair bounce, your eyes shut, and your mouth wide in a silent O shape. It only fueled his lust, and he started to thrust back.
The rhythmn of your bodies meeting only got less steady as you both got close, and you found yourself clutching onto him for dear life. He was doing the same. Your bodies were impossibly close, not even an atom of space between you, as you both climaxed, crying out the other's name. His hot seed filled your cunt up, and your cunt in turn clenched and milked his cock. it was ecstacy.
As you came down from your orgasms, neither of you let go. How could you? You had both spent the past year begging the universe to give you one more chance, you weren't going to let go.
He kissed your neck and face, a big grin on his face.
"I missed you, missed this. Oh, baby boy, you have no idea."

Yandere ! Gojo Satoru x Female ! Reader
Part 2 | my childhood friend
Warnings | Gojo is kind of clingy, y/n is shy and has a stutter (at first), grammatical errors, etc.
Notes | this fic will be using she/her pronouns for y/n. Also this is a reincarnation fic, so Gojo's name will not be "Satoru" in this part. And please let me know if you want to be in a taglist for this series !! ^-^
Summary | And I'd choose you; in a hundred lifetimes, in a hundred worlds, in any version of reality, I'd find you and I'd choose you.
Infinity Masterlist
year 1102 AD
GOJO SHIRO was at the tender age of twelve when he regained his past life's memories, and with a sudden burst of excitement he realized that he was indeed living a new life as a reincarnation of his former self. With such news, he immediately set off with such knowledge and past experiences. He knew things as such a young age that baffled many adults. Which was to no surprise to the young Gojo. Though, truthfully, he had no intention of revealing how he had such vast knowledge and instead would give the simple answer of "I like to study when I'm not training." Which was believable to most adults with in the Gojo clan because they would take notice how the young future head of the clan would wander straight towards the clan's sacred library.
Little did they know, however, was that he was actually researching the l/n clan and trying to see if y/n even existed in this time period. And, much to his dismay, he would find that after his first death the l/n clan would have fallen from grace. (Which was very much deserved, mind you.) But now he had no way of finding her, of find y/n, or knowing if was even born yet or even if she would have the last name l/n or the first name y/n.
Because look at Gojo.
Sure, he still has the six eyes. His powerful cursed techniques that he will be expected to hone as he ages. Yet he has a different first name. So the same could be expected of y/n if she got reincarnated as well. But he knew that once he saw her, he would know that it was her. Without a doubt. Mainly because he wholeheartedly believed that when one is reincarnated, their personality stays the same. Their soul never changes. I mean, the only thing about him that changed was his first name for goodness sake! So the same could easily be said about his y/n. Easily.
However ...
"Oh! How frustrating!"
It was still very frustrating.
He slammed the book shut and pushed it aside. His gaze settling onto the nearest wall.
It was clear to him that searching through books on whereabouts of the l/n clan were no longer going to work. If he wanted to find his cute little maid, then he was going to have to leave the Gojo Estate. Simple, right? So, that was exactly what he set out to do. And much to his surprise, no one really stopped him. Probably because he was already at such a high position within the clan as the next head and all.
And thats how he found himself wandering the streets. Many people bustled around him but didn't dare to step in his path for it was easily known as to who he was and how much power he had.
Well, that was until he felt a small tug on his sleeve.
Rolling his eyes, he couldn't believe someone had the audacity to bother him, especially considering how he was busy looking for y/n. Not that whoever was pulling at him to get his attention needed to know that.
"What."
Though the moment that the word left his mouth, his whole body froze up when he had turned to look at the person who was bothering him. His brillant blue eyes fixated on the slightly smaller girl before him.
She looked exactly the same as before.
"Uhm- i- i- I'm so sorry, Lord Gojo! But- but you- i-," she stuttered over her words like a fool. She shut her eyes as she tried to find the right words she wanted to say, "its just.. us kids were going to play a game and- and we were wondering if you want to play with us. We- we know you probably have better things to do.. but but we j- just .. just wanted to be friends since- since w-we saw you pass by and and we never see you out from the estate walls, so..."
She blabbered on. To anyone else, they may have tried to cut her off or shut her up. But to Gojo? He was on cloud nine. In his past life, he only got to see her when she was a teenager, and that was only for a year before her life was taken from him. But now? Now he has a chance to get to know her as a child. They can grow up together, learn about each other at the same pace without someone threatening them. It made a smile stretching across his lips.
"Sure," he said suddenly, "I'll come play with you all. But...only on one condition."
She brightened at first when he agreed to come play but instantly deflated at the condition. He wasn't going to ask for money was he?! Her dirt smudged face and tattered clothes were proof enough of her wealth. So, she really did hope he didn't ask for anything too grand.
"Mmhmm, want to hear the condition?"
She shakily nodded and he basked in her shyness and fear. He found it was really fun to tease her! And he planned on teasing her a lot in the near future.
Booping her on the nose with an index finger, he grinned, "well, its actually two conditions. But don't worry, its within your power to fulfill them easily."
Rubbing her nose, she silently urged him to continue.
"First, I want you to call me Shiro. No more of that lame Lord Gojo crap. And second .. what's your name? You want me to come play with you, but don't offer an introduction? Honestly, I'm hurt."
He faked a pout while laying a hand on his chest. His heart beating rapidly against his palm and he silently hoped she wasn't able to hear it.
She bowed suddenly, "r- right! I'm s- sorry Lord- uhm- I mean! I'm sorry Shiro!"
She straightened back up as a blush coated her (color) cheeks. Her hand shakily jutting out as her feet moved from side to side in a nervous manner.
"I'm y/n and- and I was wondering if you like to come and play with me and my friends.."
His heart did a backflip and he internally swooned. So cute!
He immediately snatched her hand into his own despite her hand being slightly dirty than his clean, pristine one.
"I would love to!"

v. i miss you, i'm sorry
SYNOPSIS: He doesn’t know how to love. You know this and yet you would still give everything just to be with him- even for just a moment. Or the story of how you and Keith finally get together. PAIRING: Keith Kogane x Altean reader WORD COUNT: 5.4k TAGS: Slowburn, Angst, extreme cannon compliance, fighting SERIES LINK: a love as cold as ours
← PREVIOUS | NEXT →
NOTE: edited this tipsy and with Grammarly so don't mind mistakes!
You were focusing on trying to heal Shrio's new body in hopes it would encourage it to fully accept Shiros conscious using skills you had learned from the white lion on Oriande. Not daring to look up to face the eyes of the two galrans who both watched your every move with intrigue.
Allura was also helping, trying to take off as much of the burden as her powers would allow leaving you both exhausted as the hours ticked by.
You were sat by Shiro’s body hand held up eyes closed as you tried to focus on the feeling of Shiro’s consciousness within the body trying to pull it further inwards when Allura spoke
“I’m afraid the clone’s body is rejecting Shrio’s consciousness”
“There must be some way you can help!” Keith pleaded and it hurt you for him to sound so distressed opening your eyes to see him staring right you in despair
“I don’t think there's anything more we can do” you confessed “I can feel him slipping away” voice hoarse as you looked away from the black paladin unable to watch his heartbreak, jumping when he banged against the glass separating you from Shiro
“Shiro please” he begged as he banged against the glass again “Please fight!” as he began to sob making your heart clench “You can’t do this to me again” he continued when a faint coughing was heard from inside the pod you all quickly looked up at Shiro as the encasing disappeared Keith called out to him quickly when he eyes opened
“Keith- I was dreaming” he spoke delicately in between breaths “You saved me” he confessed looking at the boy as he hugged him
“We saved each other” Keith corrected
You simply looked to Allura and smiled tiredly but before anything else could be said the rest of the paladins along with Coran and Romelle finally returned all looking shocked as they saw Shiro up the three paladins running towards him in glee
“Shiro’s looking better! Alright!” Lance exclaimed
“Where were you guys? We couldn't get a hold of you?” Keith asked
“Well, we were shrunk by a magic skunk, but we ended up using that sparkly dust that makes electricity bigger or whatever” Lance tried to explain but the five of you just looked at him confused “So ready to charge up the lions?” Lance continued clearly unphased by your lack of understanding. Shiro simply sighed before laughing to himself
“It’s good to be back.”
── ✧
“Why are you tired” Lance probed as he walked towards you causing you to open your eyes to look at the Cuban boy from your position lying on Shiro's metal shoulder- the only part left of his mechanic arm
“I dunno maybe it’s from saving all your arses and transferring Shiro’s conscience into a new body?” you replied dryly as Shiro rubbed your shoulder with his working hand in thanks. At the same time, you gave Lance a pointed look with a small drowsy smile on your face that made him falter in his teasing realising that you were in fact not joking, still looking a little worse for wear even after you finally healed the large gnash on your forehead from Shiro's clone.
You closed your eyes again as you felt his violet ones staring you down clearly trying to get your attention but you ignored it- what more could he possibly have to say to you? More reasons why you aren't capable you nearly scoffed at the idea but simply pursed your lips trying to feign sleep when Shrio nudged you to open your eyes as Pidge approached, she sat on the other side of Shiro when the older man questioned
“Where you able to get into contact with Earth?”
“No luck,” the smaller girl replied glumly. “The low power levels are probably affecting our broadcast distance but I'll keep trying as we get closer to Earth.”
“I can't believe we’re finally going home” Lance admits softly looking down at the ground almost in thought
“I’m going to hug my parents and never let go.” Hunk claims as he hugs himself imaging how it would go
“I can’t wait to see how dad integrated Altean and Earth technologies together” Pidge exclaimed seemingly in a better mood just thinking of going home. You smiled at her excitement but it didn't reach your eyes as it reminded you that your home was gone and after the war was over you didn’t have a family to come home to- rather Voltron was your family. Shiro seemed able to sense your thoughts looking to you with a sad smile as he once again rubbed your shoulder with his working arm in comfort.
“And my mom” Pidge continued before stopping to think her face suddenly becoming cloudy with apprehension “She is gonna be so mad I ran away, I hope I’m not grounded”
“How long do you think it will take us to get home?” Keith finally tired of being ignored by you turned towards Coran who was seemingly already doing the numbers in his head
“I was just calculating that now” the altean admitted “Without the luxury of a wormhole and with diminished power cores, let me see-” he started mumbling to himself “if I carry the one” staring at his fingers as he did the maths “oh, it’s going to take us 150,000 earth years,” he replied nonchalantly you quickly sat up from your position on Shiro’s shoulder as everyone gasped in shock
“One-hundred-and-fifty earth years?!” Keith exclaimed
“Coran, I think your finger counting is a bit off” Pidge stated “It’s going to be 1.5 years” causing everyone to groan in annoyance
“Oh right I didn’t carry the three” Coran realised
“Well you never said you were good at finger counting” you replied to ease the annoyance he caused in the group
“And it’s not an exact science anyways” he defended and you swore it gave you deja vu
“It's going to be a very long and difficult voyage, but It’s our only chance at replacing the Castle of lions” Allura concluded
“There were times where I thought I would never see Earth again” Shiro admitted “To be able to go back-”
“Well, what are we waiting for guys!” Lance quickly interrupted, “Let's hit the space road!”
“I suppose we need to figure out who’s flying with whom,” Krolia announced and she was right.
You weren't really looking forward to it. You were already so exhausted you were unsure you would be able to handle certain people for the time being and hoped that whoever ended up with you would give you some peace to recharge.
“And what about the animals?” Coran reminded you all
“What about them?” Pidge questioned
“Well the wolf can't go with Kaltenecker, wolves eat cows and the cow can’t be in the same area as the mice because aren't cows scared of mice?”
You nodded at his words they made complete sense to you
“No, elephants are afraid of mice.” Lance corrected
“Elephant?” you mumbled in tired confusion
“Yeah, They’re giant grey animals with long noses that grab things,” Lance exclaimed trying to show what an elephant looked like by pinching his nose and using his other hand to act as its snout
“Giants with long, gabbing noses? Earth seems so strange” Allura echoed your thoughts out loud what a preposterous creature that must be.
“The wolf is riding with me” Keith decided “That means Hunk will have to take the cow” as he had the second biggest cockpit so was able to fit the cow easily.
“Me with the cow? Not a good idea” Hunk protests
“Hunks right” Lance decides “Keith, you're keeping the cow. Someone else is gonna have to take the wolf” Everyone looked to Pidge
“Not me. I am allergic.”
“I’ll take the mice” Allura exclaimed clearly not wanting to take the wolf
“How come you get the smallest passengers?” Keith questioned arms crossing over each other in annoyance to which Allura just pulled a face
“I say we go old school and draw straws” Hunk decided
“Or I can just take the wolf” you commented breathlessly honestly just wanting to get into the sky, the quicker you get going the quicker you can be left alone.
“But I am terrible at drawing” Allura sulks causing you to laugh as Coran agrees “She really is”
“Guys you’re all overthinking this. I know exactly where everyone should go.” Lance decides and for some reason, maybe to stop the arguing, everyone lets him place them into the ships.
── ✧
This decidedly in your opinion was the worst idea ever, why did you let Lance decide who went whereas you were stuck for who knows how long in your lion with Keith's mother- Krolia.
To say it was awkward was an understatement but you guess you got what you wanted as it was quiet. But you could cut the tension with a knife.
Clearly the woman wished to speak with you but she didn’t say a word as if she wanted you to initiate conversation. But you have no idea what to say to her.
It’s not as if you can be honest ‘oh hi Keith’s mum yeah no I totally don't have a massive unrequited crush on your son who would probably rather be stuck by one of Haggar’s spells than even think of me that way’ and what if he told her about your argument during the kral vera so she knows you as the one who believes her son is according to your own heated words a ‘cold excuse of man.’
You shudder at the thought of the stoic woman hating you. The idea only makes you feel even more anxious being left in a ship with her for 1.5 earth years.
Luckily the other paladins don’t seem to be faring much better with Allura shouting at the wolf, Romelle trying to touch all the buttons on the spaceship leaving Lance annoyed, and Coran trying to teach Keith and Shiro the altean alphabet by singing a song that haunted your dreams as a little girl.
“Keiths told me a lot about you during our time in the quantum abyss” Krolia commented clearly aware that she would get nowhere if she waited for you to start a conversation
“I can only apologise for whatever you have heard from him, I assure you-” you began damage control only imagining the lovely choice of words he must have had to say about you, especially after your disagreement when she cut you off
“You are much more pretty than he described” was all she said causing a flush to creep up your cheeks as you turned away from her
“Thank you” you whispered in confusion, eyebrows furrowed as she continued to speak
“He seems to have underplayed a lot of things about you. But I am glad my son has found someone like you- you are quite similar to his father, willing to give everything to others” she spoke softly at the mention of her lover but you were sat shocked facing forwards, her words ruminating in your mind.
Clearly she liked you- approved of even which made no sense because why would she feel the need to approve of you- someone who isn't even really friends with her son. Not anymore. And with the mentioning of you being similar to his father- it didn’t make any sense!
Lance’s voice cut into the comms before you could think on her words further
“Guys, I think I did a bad job choosing the passengers” only took him this long to notice. Why on earth would he split up Keith from his mother? Lance’s logic was beyond you and now clearly himself
“I think he thought by choosing the pretty altean he could charm her and have an easy time” You voiced your thoughts to Kroila who was watching Lance through the comms link and she laughed slightly
“Clearly that is not the case” she agreed humorously and you simply smiled in reply as Keith turned on his comms so everyone could hear Coran’s rendition of the altean alphabet upon hearing it Romelle joined in which just as much enthusiasm causing you to chuckle as you sang along under your breath not noticing how a certain black paladin was watching your screen like a hawk having a not so nice hand gestures and eye conversation with his mother when she caught him staring at you with a soft smile at your antics.
Eventually the singing and not knowing what his mother was saying to you got too much for Keith. Her smirks at him made him extremely nervous as he screamed
“That’s it we are changing passengers!” to which Allura agreed quickly
“I second that!” clearly fed up with the wolf drooling everywhere even though Keith told her he likes to drool several times.
“Agreed” Lance called out trying to keep Romelle away from the buttons again
“Whatever you guys want” you called out trying not to seem rude towards the older woman
“Hey guys, why haven't we heard from Pidge?” Hunk announced
“Yeah. Wait, who’s in her lion again?” Lance questioned
“No idea” is all you said
“Yeah Lance, you’re the one that came up with this grouping” Keith added to your point
“Well, she must have– no, they're with Keith. And the wolf is with Allura and I have the mice” You suddenly laughed as you realised what's happened
“She's all alone” you spoke laughing a hand covering your mouth as the others quickly realised that you were in fact correct.
The team quickly used the wolf's transportation techniques to transfer all the passengers into Pidge's ship except for Shiro and Krolia who were now on Keith’s ship.
“Oh come on guys this isn't fair!” Pidge complained but you all simply ignored her amused by her suffering.
── ✧
Krolias voice sounded out from the comms
“This is the Klii-Nyn System. There’s a Blade of Marmora rally point located on a moon here. We should check in with them and get an update on their operations.”
“Team, we're going to make a quick stop. Everyone follow me” Keith called out and you followed closely behind.
You all landed on the moon with Krolia unable to make any contact with the base so you all quickly got out of the lions to check it out as something clearly wasn't right.
Allura used her strength to open the door allowing Krolia to go in first as you hovered into the base. It looked completely empty, dark and decrepit with no sign of life at all within its walls.
“It doesn't look like anyone’s been here for years,” Keith commented while Pidge tried to press buttons on the control panel
“The system won’t boot. Looks like the power has been out for a while” She agreed with Keith's observation the place had already been deserted a long time ago.
“If the Blade of Marmora abandoned this place, that means something really bad must have happened” Hunk theorised
“That's impossible” Krolia admitted “This base was still fully operational during my last check-in with the Blades.”
“It doesn't make any sense even if they left within the last three days it wouldn't look like this” you exclaimed, twirling around and looking at the area it just looked old, not destroyed but before you could voice anything else a large explosion was heard from outside causing the area to shake.
“Enemy ship! Incoming!” Coran called out
“Everyone back to the lions” Keith commanded as you all flew back towards the entrance you quickly came back to your lion and flew off with the rest of the team noticing the galran ships surrounding the area
“It looks like a small fleet. Mostly Galra fighters” Keith commented
“That's good. We should be able to take them out pretty easily” Lance responded
“Yeah, but remember, we’re not flying at full power” Pidge warned
“Pidge is right” Keith announced “everyone stay sharp.”
You flew quickly trying to avoid the blasts
“Keep an eye out” Lance reminded you all “Where there are fighters there’s usually a cruiser nearby”
“Some of these ships look like they belong to Lotor’s fleet” you heard Romelle shout out from Allura comms making you pull a puzzled face wasn't she in Pidge’s lion?
“How did you get in here?” Allura asked confused you were about to voice your own concerns when a blue light appeared behind you in the cockpit to reveal Keith's wolf who quickly bounded up next to you to give you some support
“Thanks, buddy” you whispered nudging your head against the world slightly causing him to push back in happiness for some attention before you grunted as a beam nearly knocked you off your path sending the wolf down with you “Sorry, it’s not going to be an easy ride”
“We need to get out of here” Keith called out warningly as more and more fighters seemed to appear out of nowhere
“We’re getting our quiznacks handed to us. We need to do something.” Lance complained “we need to form Voltron”
“Okay” Keith agreed “everyone in formation”
You tried to form Voltron but the depleted energy cores made it impossible.
You tried to escape but they backed you into a corner with the pirates behind you, crystals surrounding you and a cyclone at the exit.
“We have no choice” Keith decided “Everyone into the cyclone”
After formatting a plan you quickly left the cyclone trying to take your way towards a nearby unstable ice planet in hopes it could grant you the upper hand.
You descended onto the planet with the fighter ships right on your tail using the landscape to the best of your abilities to lose the pirates, weaving around geysers, and flying through underground tunnels but it still wasn't enough as soon as you made it out the cave without any of fighters pilots following behind you were immediately captured by a large magnet pinning the lions to the floor- there was no escape.
── ✧
You were quickly taken into a holding cell, arms bound by handcuffs, you were sat next to Allura with Keith right above you, none of you saying a word as Lance pranced around the cell pulling faces.
“What are you doing?” Hunk asked annoyed
“I’m feeling for secret passages” Lance responded as if it was the most sane idea ever, you looked up at him incredulously- was he serious
“You’ve watched too many movies, Lance. There’s no secret passage.” Keith complained
“And why on earth would they put one where they keep the prisoners” you questioned the Cuban boy still in disbelief that he wasn't joking
“Oh really?” he questioned moving to the middle of the cell “Then how do you explain this?” he quickly hit the side of the cell with his foot before whimpering in pain- clearly not an area for a secret passage you simply rolled your eyes at him not failing to notice how Keith smirked at your reaction making your eyebrows furrowed in confusion as to why he seems to care so much about you now.
“Will someone shut him up?” Krolia asked after Lance hit his other foot on another area that he thought would be a secret passage but wasn't now holding his foot for dear life as he tumbled around in pain.
“There's only one guard patrolling out there.” She observed “If we can get this door open, we can overpower him”
“What happened to Coran?” Hunk questioned
“He must of managed to hide when we were captured” Krolia guessed
“At least we have one ally out there still able to fight for us” Allura spoke relieved
“Are you saying our fate rests in Coran’s hands?” Pidge asked, causing you all to look down in worry.
“I will help you look for that passage” Pidge comments to Lance clearly believing his idea would have a better shot at getting them free than Coran ever could.
Your head snapped up at the sound of the door opening when two very familiar faces appeared from behind their guards leaving you all shocked it was two of Lotor's generals
“Look who's here. It’s Voltron” Ezor mocked
“We’re going to have a little talk” cackled Zethrid
“Hey you’re the guys that Lotor shot into space” Lance stated the obvious clearly not reading the room
“And the ones that were trying to kill us” Pidge finished off for him
“Yeah sure, but we're all friends now right?” Hunk questioned and you started at him
“I don’t think they would’ve captured and locked us up if we were friends Hunk” You tilted your head at him as he gawked in understanding
“I’m glad one of you has a brain,” Ezor smirked. “Makes it so much more fun when we torture you!”
“Where have you been all this time? And what happened to Lotor?” Zethrid questioned
“What are you talking about” Shiro responded cooly
“We’re talking about your little disappearing act.” Ezor clarified
“Disappearing act? We followed Lotor into the quintessence field and then came back out not long after” you replied confused “Not sure how that counts as disappearing”
“Answer the question!” Zethrid seethed, clearly not impressed by your answer “How did you survive that explosion?” she continued
“Don’t you know? You were there.” Hunk questioned cautiously
“I think there’s a little confusion about how the ‘we ask questions, you give us answers scenario works.’” Ezor commented
“Enough of your games. Where is Lotor” Zethrid asked
“Lotors dead. We left him in the Quintessence field” Keith answered
“Yeah that doesn't really add up. Why aren't you dead?” Ezor probed
“Because of the power of teamwork?” Hunk responded unsure of himself
“I’m going to ask you one more time,” Zethrid challenged “and then we are going to have to take a more extreme approach. What happened to Lotor and where have you been all this time?”
“How many times do we have to say it to get it through your thick skulls? We haven't been anywhere and Lotor is dead:” you shouted in annoyance.
“Fine” Ezor replied
“You leave us no choice but to apply pressure” Zethrid commanded
“Who is the first victim?” Ezor asked excited
“How about the smart loudmouth witch Lotor was always telling us about, let's see if she is really worth all his praise,” Zethrid responded, clearly referring to you. Ezor started to make her way towards you when Lance tried to attack her from the side
“Don’t you touch them!” He shouted as he swung his joined together hands as Ezor who quickly dodged his attack sending him to the ground with a kick a guard with a gun was placed in front of him before he could make another move
“Your defence is adorable and so very misguided” Zethrid comments with a laugh
“Leave us alone” Pidge shouted which resulted in Ezor slapping her with her hair and wrapped it around your hands dragging you to her Hunk called out your name in worry as Ezor’s hand went around your throat as you groaned and thrashed trying to get away
“Let her go!” Keith commanded but was stopped by a soldier with a gun before he could try anything
“Answers” Ezor commanded as she held you up against the wall a deadly tight grip on your throat barely leaving enough room for air
“We told you, he’s–” Keith began to answer them his voice pleading when a large boom rattled the area and alarms started blaring making them all need to leave to check out the security breach.
Ezor quickly let go making you fall to the ground hard, you groaned in pain as you were held up leaning against Allura for support as the rest of the paladins watched her leave. Keith quickly helped you up, eyes looking alarmed as they assessed your neck clearly it looked as bad as it hurt but Krolia started talking before he could say anything much to your relief
“This is our chance, the next time that door opens, overwhelm the guard.” she strategies you'll quickly go on either side preparing yourselves but when the door opened no guard came in, you all looked to the door to see the mice who had taken down the guard
“Hello little friends” Allura spoke crouching down to them they spoke to her and she gasped “Coran is trying to rescue us and he’s got help- Axca” She turned towards Keith whose eyes lit up with recognition
“What” was all he could muster.
You all quickly ran to find Coran quickly finding him fighting this large soldier purple and barely conscious from his efforts Lance and Keith quickly grabbed him helping him move along as we made our way towards the hanger that our lions were kept in while Keith went after Axca.
Once you were all inside the lions Keith called out to shoot on his location which you all quickly did resulting in a massive explosion that Keith and Axca fled and ran into the black lion's cockpit then the team quickly made her get away following Axca directions to one of her safe houses.
── ✧
You were all sitting in her cave, a fire brewing as she turned to speak to you “I don't know what Ezor and Zethrid were on about with Keith because you're my favourite paladin.” you smiled at her compliment
“Well not that you are up against any tough competition but you always were my favourite of Lotors generals- the only level-headed one” you joked back hitting her with your shoulder as she laughed back
“You're not wrong there” you continued to banter with the galran when Hunk came back with more firewood causing you to halt the conversation but both of your eyes twinkled with the idea that you were far from done speaking.
“I just looked at the lions and they’re in worse shape than ever.” Hunk worries
“We should probably give them some time to recharge before we head back on our way” Shiro decides
“Wow a lot has changed over the past few weeks” Lance comments
“Weeks?” Axca questions “what are you talking about?”
“The last time we saw you. You were fighting alongside Lotor” Allura responds confused
“That was three deca-phoebs ago” Axca tells you “No-one has seen you since your fight with Lotor.”
“That impossible” Kieth stated
“It’s true” Axca declared “After Lotor jettisoned us, we managed to make it to cover a meteorite. There we saw both Voltron and Lotor disappear. Eventually, Voltron re-emerged… alone. But, then there was an explosion and after that… nothing. That was three deca-phoebe ago”
“So, as far as everyone else in the universe is concerned, Volron has been gone for three deca-phoebe?” Allura clarifies
“That would explain the discrepancies in the star charts in our lions.” Pidge realised “I thought they were off because of our inter-dimensional jumping which I guess they were in a way- because if you think about it, that must have been the cause of the time slip between our experience and that of the rest of the universe.”
“So how did you end up here, helping us?” Keith questioned the girl
“Zethrid, Ezor, and I were stationed on the meteoroid for days. Finally, a Galra ship came to investigate Lotor's last known whereabouts. We took it over. With Lotor gone, it was clear that there was a power vacuum in the Galra Empire. Zethrid and Ezor wanted to exploit that for their own gain but I knew I had to find my own path. And it led me to you.” she replied gesturing to the team
“Thank you for saving us” Keith smiled
“I hope that this makes up for some of the wrongs I’ve done.” she clarifies you grabbed her hand and gave it a squeeze as you smiled
“We understand” gesturing to you and Allura “How easy it is to believe in him”
“I realise now that Lotor wasn't the man I thought he was. He preached unity, but in the end, he sought only power.” Axca continued “I’ll do everything I can out here to help the Voltron coalition.”
“Wow, so everyone that was helping is thinks we’re dead” Hunk thought aloud
“Wait” Pidge called out in a panicked voice “I haven't been able to get ahold of my dad on Earth or Matt and the rebels. What's happened to them in the last three years?”
“And if Ezor and Zethrid became warlords in that time… what else has changed?” Allura questioned.
The revelation that you had been missing for three deca-pheobes settled deep within you all as you sat in silence trying to gather the courage to speak- worry clearly covering all of your faces.
You quickly stood up looking down at your feet as you left Axcas cave and made your way towards the lions sitting on the edge of the cliff they were stationed on trying to steady your breathing as you began to spiral at the idea of all the coalition being gone, all the people that Voltron had let down as you were presumed dead.
You could the lions humming in your brain quieter than last time thanks to their run-down state trying to ease your discomfort- it was still a new feeling every time you closed your eyes you could feel them- like your life force was now integrated with their own, your pain was there and their discomfort yours just as Alfor prophesied. You hoped he was proud- that it was all worth it.
The buzzing of the lions in your head was probably what made you unable to hear his footsteps as they approached you only noticed him when he came to sit next to you the lion’s voices leaving you alone when your eyes stared into his violet orbs echoing your pain of lost time a feeling your sure he is a lot more familiar with. You turn away from him after a moment eyes going to your feet as they dangle from the cliff
“How do you do it” you mutter to him unsure of how to ask for comfort from him now, after everything
“Hm?” He prompted trying to seem as calm as you for the first time since the Kral Vera started a conversation with him sacred if he said too much it would send you further away than you already where
“Forgive yourself for not being there, for not being able to protect the people you promised I guess” you replied eyes welling up as your throat tightened
“I think” he took a deep breath as you looked up at him “you just need to remember that there was nothing you could do that could’ve got yourself there, we can’t go back in time” he explained voice soft as he took in your features as you sat there staring at the boy in silence the guilt and remorse finally caught up with you at all the things you had said that day- none of it was true, not to you any way she wasn’t a sorry excuse of a man rather he was everything you ever wanted and while he may have been cold at times he never was to you- the scene right now proving it, even more, he never turned you away as you did to him that day
“M-sorry” you muttered “for what happened during the Kral vera it wasn’t true- not to me” you began when he interrupted you similarly to how he did that day
“It’s okay” he smiled a little “I mean you were right I was being overprotective and cold- I had a lot of time to think about it when I was stuck in the quantum abyss with my mom”
“I don’t want to fight” is all you said, almost whispering
“I know” he grabbed your hand as you both looked forwards “It’s okay” he repeated squeezing your hand “We’re okay”
Maybe you were okay but your mind couldn't seem to stop thinking about his words ‘you were right’ a thought you also had these past few months but rather about what he had spoken about you.
You knew what you had said was wrong you even told him that but he hadn’t taken his words back. So that still must be how he thinks about you. Clearly you need to listen to what he said and then continue as you have been barely speaking- anything to avoid his ire and keep him as he is now- content.

puppy love (ii)
Chuuya Nakahara x Reader
fandom: bungo stray dogs
Another part to the Chuuya with puppies series! Honestly it's been pretty therapeutic to write this out and plan out future parts. I don't really have any kind of direction for this series, it's just for fun and I write when I get inspired! But luckily my love for Chuuya isn't going away anytime soon, so you can look forward to more. I hope you enjoy!
warnings: fem reader, pet names ("doll"), rambunctious puppies who just wanna play, mutual pining perhaps (if you squint) || words: 2.6k
Part I | Part II | Part III
The next time you see Chuuya, you’re on your way home from the vet—with Kotaro, Pochi, and Shiro in tow.
Kotaro’s the first to notice him. His ears shoot forward, nose pointed straight in the cool night air, and he gives a hard yank on the leash in your hand. You start to scold him, but the words die on your tongue at the familiar sight of orange hair and bright blue eyes.
The really pretty eyes you haven’t stopped thinking about for the last few days or so. (As embarrassing as it sounds.)
Kotaro tugs hard on the leash, nearly ripping the thing right from your grasp, his tail swishing from side to side. He’s not the only one who’s noticed your new friend; Pochi is sniffing the air, trying to catch the stranger’s scent, while Shiro is digging his paws deeper into the ground, eyes fixed on the newcomer’s every move.
“Sorry,” you manage a smile, despite wrangling all three dogs back under your control. (It’s hard not to get the leashes all tangled up.) “They can be excitable sometimes—I didn’t expect to see you again so soon…”
To be honest, you thought he’d forgotten about your little meetup for lunch altogether (if his attire is anything to go by, he’s a busy man with a tight schedule). The sight of him now makes your chest feel warm, your fingertips buzzing around the handles of Kotaro’s leash.
You don’t even know his name; to you, he’s just the nice stranger who brought your dog back home to you that fateful night.
But that’s plenty enough for Kotaro, who’s scrabbling against the sidewalk to the man’s outstretched hands. You really should invest in some retractable leashes. Then again, Kotaro would probably just break them in two.
Not like Pochi and Shiro, who wait patiently at your side, despite their own curiosity.
“Out for a walk, huh?” The man lets out a chuckle, even as Kotaro presses his dirty paws against his knees. “Hope you’re not causin’ your girl too much trouble.”
“Not that much,” you mumble, cheeks burning beneath his gaze. “…Is it okay if the others say hi?”
There’s a sparkle in his eye, the same one you saw the first night you met. Something that reminds you of the children you pass on the street, the ones who pull at their mother’s arms, begging to let them pet the puppy by your side. Strange to say you recognize that kind of look on a grown man’s face, but it seems to suit him all the same.
Makes his eyes look so much prettier than they already are.
He slips a glove off and crouches down to the dogs’ level, while simultaneously trying to push Kotaro off him. Pochi’s the first one to step forward, his nose twitching almost violently. Shiro hangs back, pawing at the ground before plopping his bottom right down on your shoes.
You stifle a laugh at the bulldog’s expression. My human, don’t come any closer.
“Sorry about that!” It’s hard not to smile at the man’s baffled expression, at the way Shiro’s practically glaring at him from his spot in front of you. “He’s a little protective. But I promise he’s a sweetheart once you get to know him.”
“Nah, it’s fine, I get it.” And he actually does, by the way he only focuses on Pochi and Kotaro, taking turns scratching them behind their ears. Giving the grouchy bulldog some much-needed space, only smiling at him over the other dogs’ heads.
Huh, that’s a first.
How many times have you had to shoo an eager child’s hand away or scoop Shiro up in your arms just to keep him safe? Shiro’s a rare case, comfortable with dogs but a bit uneasy around most humans. And it’s hard to find people who acknowledge that and just leave him be. No poking or prodding, or pulling on his stubby little tail and risk losing a finger or two. And that’s the last thing anyone wants.
“Just one pet wouldn’t hurt, right?”
“Not a fan of people? That’s kinda strange…”
“He won’t bite me, right? You shouldn’t have him out in public if he’s aggressive.”
The man’s voice jerks you from your thoughts; he’s too fixated on Pochi now, smiling as the beagle kisses his cheek, so much that Kotaro is starting to look a bit jealous.
“What’s his name?”
“Pochi,” you answer with a smile. “You already know Kotaro. And this big boy is Shiro.” You lean down to rub the bulldog’s chest; he grunts and leans into your touch, all the while keeping his eyes on the man before him. “Sorry about them, they can get a little excited.”
Quite an understatement, judging by the bits of dog hair flayed across his black suit. He swipes a hand through his hair, and your eyes linger on the frayed orange strands just a little longer than they should. Until his voice snaps you out of it, as his blue gaze flickers up to meet your own.
“Only three today? Thought you said you had eight of them.”
It’s hard not to smile at his words. He remembered that, huh? “The others are back at home. These three had their check-ups at the vet today. I’ll have to bring the next three in sometime later this week.”
“Only a couple at a time, eh?”
“Yeah, I’ve tried taking all eight of them at once—it was not fun for anyone, except for maybe this little mess.” You lean over and scratch Kotaro behind the ear; the dog looks pretty damn proud of himself as you recall that stressful memory.
But before you can say anything else the man rises to his feet, tucking his hands into his pockets, but not before giving Kotaro and Pochi one last pat on their heads. There’s a soft pang in your chest; is he leaving already?
“A little late for a vet appointment, isn’t it?”
You shrug, your eyes falling to the ground. “I gotta work around the shop’s hours. We don’t close until seven, and it takes about an hour to get these guys all leashed up and ready to go. The vet the next block over doesn’t mind, though. He even knocks a bit off the price whenever one of the dogs is sick. And sometimes it’s nice, being the only ones in there. You don’t have to worry about any other dogs or people over there.”
Are you rambling again? Probably, but he doesn’t seem to mind. At least he doesn’t make it noticeable, with the way he’s looking at you.
“This a usual thing for you, then? These nighttime walks?”
“Yeah, pretty much,” you answer with a giggle. “Any major shopping or appointments don’t get done until after work. I’m used to the late hours, though.”
The man hums in agreement, but his eyes tell a different story. Slowly he takes his hands back out of his pockets, eyes roaming the ground before landing back on your own. You swallow the lump in your throat (that definitely wasn’t there a few minutes ago).
“You sure you’re safe out here at this time of night?”
Another shrug, albeit a little more hesitant than the one before. “As long as I’ve got these guys, I think I am.”
He huffs out a breath, shifting his weight from one leg to the other. An uneasy silence settles over the two of you, only broken by the sound of Kotaro’s whining. He wants to get back home.
They all do, by the looks of it. A trip to the vet always wears them out. Not to mention, they’ve been hard at work guarding the shop all day. Being the faithful watchdogs you’ve trained them to be, alerting you whenever a new face shows up at the door.
(Not really, but you let them think they’re helping. It boosts their morale, lets them know they’re appreciated for all their hard work.)
“Let me walk you home,” the man finally says. “Just this once, alright?”
Maybe it’s the adorable wagging of Kotaro’s and Pochi’s tails, or the way Shiro doesn’t outright growl when the man steps closer to you, beckoning you closer with a gloved hand and a gentle smile. Or perhaps it’s the way you try to hold back a yawn, only to fail in the most unattractive way possible, as the weight of the day finally comes crashing down on your shoulders. For the first time since you woke up this morning, you realize just how damn tired you actually are.
Whatever it is, it has you nodding your head almost eagerly, your lips pulled up in a sleepy smile. “Sounds good to me.”
The walk back home is surprisingly comfortable, despite two of the three dogs yanking hard on their leashes. The friendly stranger keeps to the outer half of the sidewalk, a protective barrier between your dogs and the looming road ahead. The two of you are lost in your own little world, making casual conversation here and there, ignoring the skeptical looks of the few passerby’s out on a midnight stroll.
And by the time you see the dim lights and rickety old sign of the shop, you’ve learned three things about your new friend.
First, his name is Chuuya. He says it with a smile, orange hair falling into his face. It prompts you to share your own name, and hearing it roll off his tongue in that slightly raspy voice of his sends a shiver down your spine. (You decide then and there you like hearing your name fall from his lips.)
Second, he’s fairly wealthy. He doesn’t say it outright, but he doesn’t exactly make an effort to hide it either. From the way he dresses to how he casually mentions different brands and flavors of wine—names you’ve only ever seen next to their outrageous dollar amounts in the store. But at least he doesn’t seem snobbish about it. He doesn’t turn his nose up at the less-than fortunate state of the shop you run. Hell, he even turned down the promise of some quick and painless money just for bringing your puppy back to you that night, when most people would’ve jumped at the idea of a financial reward. Or maybe that’s just the way he is? You’re undecided about that for now.
And third, and probably most importantly, he wants to adopt a dog of his own sometime in the future.
“That’s…great! Amazing, actually! We have a lot of dogs back at the shop, it’s more of a makeshift shelter than a pet store, though. I don’t really like that term, pet store—sounds too cold and distant, right? Anyway, it’s nothing too official, none of them are really purebreds so we don’t have to worry about too many legal troubles. But if you don’t mind, you’re more than welcome to visit and see the rest of the pups. Get to meet them and see if you wanna take one home with you!”
Of course, it’ll be hard letting go of one of them. But that’s what you’re here for, isn’t it? Taking care of these dogs until they find their forever homes. Nothing’s permanent, it never has been. But it’s been quite a while since you’ve come across someone who’s interested in adopting a former street dog, sometimes it just slips your mind. You have to remind yourself it’s only a matter of time before you have to say goodbye to them.
Except Kotaro. You’ve got dibs on the shiba.
Chuuya doesn’t interrupt your little speech, but he’s not ignoring you either. He keeps his eyes on you the entire time, only pausing to steal a glance at the dogs at your side. He still keeps his distance from Shiro, who’s lumbering at your side at a steady trot. Pochi won’t stop pulling on his leash trying to get closer to him, and Kotaro’s tail hasn’t stopped wagging ever since you started your walk back home.
Honestly, he’s kind of impressed you’re able to hold a conversation while keeping a hold on three rambunctious dogs. However fun they seem to be, they all look like they’d be a handful to take care of.
“…Well?” You’re staring at him now, eyes wide and hopeful, holding your breath as you wait for his answer. “I know it’s a little late in the day now to meet them all, but what about tomorrow?”
And maybe the prospect of seeing Chuuya again so soon has you on edge, but in the best possible way.
But then he’s shaking his head, holding up a hand, and you feel your chest deflate just a bit.
…Okay, maybe a lot, actually.
“I’d love to, doll, believe me… But adopting a pup ain’t in the cards for me anytime soon.”
“Oh…that’s a shame…”
He winces at the pitiful look in your eyes, the way your shoulders sag slightly—for the love of God, even the dogs look disappointed in him. Kotaro’s ears are drooping, Pochi hangs his head, and Shiro gives a disapproving grunt under his breath.
No fucking way these dogs can understand us.
“I-I mean, not in the near future,” he says quickly, trying to remedy the situation. Trying to make you smile at least one more time tonight. “I’d still wanna meet ‘em, though, if you’ll let me.”
Right on cue you’re giggling again, and he lets out a breath he didn’t even know he was holding. “Sounds good to me! Just drop by whenever you can, the doors are always open.”
As tempting as it is to stay out here and talk with him just a bit longer, exhaustion is weighing you down. The dogs have to be tucked in for the night, and you have to get a few hours of sleep before the shop opens up early tomorrow morning. Or would that be later today? It’s already past midnight, isn’t it?
“C’mon, boys.”
Thankfully, none of the dogs put up much of a fight. Pochi holds his head high as he follows you up the steps to the door. Shiro sticks close to your ankles and practically snubs Chuuya with a grumpy snort. Only Kotaro lingers long enough to get one final scratch behind the ears, and then he’s joining you and the rest of the dogs with a soft happy yip.
Your chest feels unnaturally full as you unlock the door and let the dogs inside. But before you shut it completely you poke your head out—and your cheeks heat up when you realize Chuuya hasn’t moved an inch from his spot on the sidewalk.
What a true gentleman.
“…Thanks for walking us home.”
“Don’t worry about it,” he says with a smile. “It was my pleasure.”
Kotaro nudges his way back out the door; you groan and tug on his collar, dragging the poor pup back inside. And Chuuya can’t help but laugh at the flustered look on your face.
“Sorry about that… Have a goodnight, Chuuya.”
He stiffens—so that’s what his name sounds like in your voice, huh?—but recovers quickly with a cough. Hopefully you can’t see the light dusting of pink on his cheeks.
“…Yeah, goodnight, doll…”
You close the door and latch it shut behind you. Chuuya remains rooted to his spot on the sidewalk, hands stuffed in his pockets, until he sees a light flicker on upstairs.
Safe and sound inside.
Then he turns his back and heads down the length of the sidewalk. Unbeknownst to him, you’re watching him go from your bedroom window, peeking through the blinds.
For the rest of the night your chest stays uncomfortably full, even when the dogs are tucked in for the night and you’re left alone with your thoughts in the dark. Staring up at the ceiling, hands bunched around the bedsheets, replaying every single detail you can remember about your little meetup.
It takes a while to fall asleep, but once you do, all you can dream about are blue eyes and wagging tails, with a smile on your face.

CLAMP Exhibition (2024)
July 3 - September 23, 2024 in Tokyo
The biggest CLAMP exhibition to date, the event showcases the original artwork from 23 works made by the group of four women, from RG Veda to Card Captor Sakura: Clear Card (technically 22 but they're counting Legal Drug and Drug and Drop separetely).
Over the years CLAMP has published a variety of manga, including those for boys (shounen), girls (shoujo) and young men (seinen), depending on the magazine they were published. Appealing to readers of all ages, genders and countries, their work continues to captivate.
The exhibition will feature a total of 800 original manuscripts (200 in color, 600 black and white), divided in 7 areas: Color, Love, Adventure, Magic, Phrase, plus Imagination and Dream.
C for COLOR. CLAMP colors the world.
Displaying a total of 200 original colored pieces from all 23 works (100 for each half of the exhibition).
This area showcases the variety of artstyles, techniques and tools CLAMP used over the years on their different manga. Includes pieces with colored ink, Copic markers, acrylic gouache, pastels, and digital art.
Even when publishing 2 different works at the same time the group likes to vary their tools: RG Veda (1989-96) was colored with ink and airbrushes, while Tokyo Babylon (1990-93) was colored with screen tones. The artstyle also changed depending on the publisher.
2. L for LOVE. CLAMP draws the forms of love.
The artwork in this area are divided in 8 types of love seen throught CLAMP's manga.
"The love depicted by Clamp is not singular—there is a straightforward love towards a significant other, but it can also be a determination to protect loved ones, a thought character keeps in their hearts, or even the conflict itself." (from tokyoartbeat article)
3. A for ADVENTURE. CLAMP weaves the stories of adventure.
350 manuscripts from 6 action-packed manga series: RG Veda, Tokyo Babylon, X/1999, Magic Knight Rayearth, Cardcaptor Sakura, and Tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE.
Includes a synopsis of each work and selected scenes to follow along parts of the story.
4. M for MAGIC. CLAMP casts its magic.
The fantasy, magic, and mysterious powers seen in CLAMP works are seen in the moving manga pannels projected in 3 large screens in this area.
5. P for Phrase. CLAMP spins the phrases.
The first room showcases 40 manuscripts from xxxHolic.
The second room focuses on the power of words spun by CLAMP, exhibiting quotes form their works on the walls. Visitors can also pull one phrase sticker from the Phrase Box from CLAMP and take it home, or stick it to a wall in the room. There are 120 different phrases to pull.
6. IMAGINATION
Timeline of 35 years of creative work, from 1989 to 2024, featuring manga volumes, magazine issues, and more.
An installation in the center of the room also features quotes from a new interview with the four women specially for this event.
This is also the only area which features CLAMP's work in other media, including various collaborations. There is a selection of color illustrations, rough design drafts, and other artworks from Soryuden: Super Dragon Brothers, CODE GEASS, BLOOD-C, HiGH&LOW g-sword, Cardfight!! Vanguard, GIFT (picture book by Ice skater Yuzuru Hanyu), The Grimm Variations, and HELLO KITTY.
7. DREAM
The last area is solely to exhibit a new illustration featuring Ashura (RG Veda) and Sakura Kinomoto (Card Captor Sakura: Clear Card), representing CLAMP's beginnings and future through their first and latest work.
"Kuro" (Black) and "Shiro" (White) are also the names of the new artbooks titled COLOR, which compile the artworks seen in the exhibition. A deluxe edition will be released at a later date compiling both volumes in one.
............................................
The audio guide during the exhibition is provided by Jun Fukuyama, who has played Kimihiro Watanuki in the anime series xxxHOLiC, Kobayashi Kotaro in ANGELIC LAYER, and Lelouch Lamperouge in Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion (CLAMP is responsible for character design in Code Geass) .
The place also features a store with a long list of products.
They also have the first volume of their various manga available to read, and a TV showcases the recently shared announcement video of the new anime project of Magic Knight Rayearth.

Author's Note: Hi guys! This is the very first story that I grew courage to post on here, so please be kind! I would also like to just kind of let you know that this is a work in progress so updates may not be as quick and they will be pretty slow as I am quite busy with work although I'm quite a bit ahead in the story writing wise so in the mean time I have enough chapters to be able to post. I really hope you guys enjoy the story! 💜
‧⋆ ✧˚₊‧⋆. ✧˚₊‧⋆‧‧⋆ ✧˚₊‧⋆. ✧˚₊‧⋆‧‧⋆ ✧˚₊‧⋆. ✧˚₊‧⋆‧‧⋆ ✧˚₊‧⋆.
After being called into a crime scene, I finally arrive to my destination and notice a couple of bystanders and a few journalists outside the hotel, I show my police shield to the officer guarding the crime scene and I head inside. I look around and notice the beautiful crystal chandelier on the ceiling and the beautiful marble floor of the lobby. I’m assuming it’s another one of Aurora Syndicate’s rival gang member’s death. I head over to the presidential suite of the hotel and there he was, a man who was around his 50’s bludgeoned to death, judging by his clothes he had a lot of money too. While my mind was focused on the crime scene I feel a hand on my shoulder interrupt my thoughts then I turn and realize it’s my partner Detective Christopher Bang “ Hey, I genuinely thought you weren’t going to come since it’s past the time you get off” He gives me a smug smirk judging from the tone of his voice. I shrug keeping my eyes focused on the victim’s position.
“Well, duty calls. Besides it has to do with AS so you know I’m up for this. So, whose this guy? He looks like he’s loaded" Chris takes out his notepad and hands it to me for me to read “Well, the guy’s name is Shiro Ito judging from his bank cards and identification used to get this room. He was allegedly involved in laundering money for The Aurora Syndicate, my guess he might have been stealing or giving out information which is why they probably killed him.” I slowly nod then I hand Chris his notepad back “Makes sense why they would have killed him, were his records clean?” He nods “Yep, clean as a whistle. The receptionist downstairs told me he was the owner of a few clothing stores which makes sense and is probably how he was able to launder money for so long without being questioned.” I get a little closer to the body and I look at the impact wounds. The wounds looked very deep, something very personal was the reason this man was killed. The suspect is definitely not a female, judging by the severity of the wounds it was definitely a male. I shift my gaze over to the man’s hands whom was holding on to something tightly.
With my gloved hands I pry open the victim’s right hand to reveal a cuff link with a beautiful iridescent stone. My face instantly lights up and I put it in an evidence bag. “Chris, this was not a woman who killed him. Look, a cufflink with an Aurora Borealis stone and it doesn't belong to Mr. Ito, he took it off of the attacker while he was trying to fight him off. If we find who this cufflink belongs to we've got our guy.” Chris’ eyebrows slightly raise while crossing his arms in front of him “Narrowing it down won’t be too hard, I’m positive it’s someone in the AS’ inner circle hence the name of the stone.” I turn and hand it over to a crime scene technician “Put this in evidence please this one is very important.” the technician nods and marks the evidence, I look back over to my partner who was engrossed looking at his notebook and I let out a small yawn “I’m heading home now, I’m exhausted. You mind finishing up here? I'm also almost finished with the police report from the last case so I'll turn it in first thing tomorrow cool?” He nods while he puts away his notepad in his back pocket and looks to me with a small smile “Yeah for sure, see you tomorrow.” I wave goodbye and I head back to my car and drive home for the night.
While I driving home I begin to think about that cuff link. Whose is it? And why was Mr. Ito killed? Hopefully we’re able to get the suspect’s print off of the cuff link but I highly doubt that since it’s probably covered in Mr. Ito’s prints.
When I arrive at my apartment complex, the lights to the parking lot are busted so it was kind of dark but not enough to where I couldn’t make things out. While I carefully get out of my car and I start to walk to my apartment. While I look through my purse to find my house keys I hear the cocking of a gun behind me “Take one more step In that direction and I will kill you.” I jump up and I turn around dropping my purse on the ground. I focus on both figures both dressed in black one was average height with jet black hair framing his face, and a tall one with blonde-brown hair. I raise my hands slightly to show I have nothing in my hand then the tall one removes my gun from my holster. The guy with the black hair grumbles “Mingi hurry up, I have a feeling someone saw us.” The dark haired male grabs me and points a gun to my lower back while his hand covers my mouth and nose with a cloth “If you scream things will get much worse from here, you wanted to be the hero so now’s your chance to take the fall.” Mingi the tall one, walks up to me and injects something into my neck, zip ties my hands and slings me over his shoulders like a rag doll. I have to fight to stay awake. I have to at least see the vehicle. I force my eyes open trying to stay awake whilst trying to free myself from Mingi's strong grip but my eyelids become unbearably heavy and I fall unconscious before I’m able to see the vehicle.
A few hours later, I wake up in a lowly lit room and quickly realize I'm tied up to a chair. Slightly groggy, I look around and see no one was in here. This empty room, is practically a near empty room with a crudely made empty bookcase behind me which looked like it hadn't been cleaned in years along with a mix of bunch of random debris on the ground and dried blood. I sigh then I yell out “Hello?! Let me out of here please!?” After yelling for what seemed like a little while I hear footsteps fast approaching, and soon the door clicks open. It was the dark haired guy who abducted me again. “So you finally woke up, it took you long enough.” He stands in front of me and stares me down all while I look up at him trying to show him I wasn’t scared of him which was an obvious lie considering how I was manhandled earlier so easily. “Why am I here? Who are you?” Completely ignoring my question he reaches over and squeezes my cheeks really hard to the point where I jerk my head back in pain unable to escape his grip “You know, I hate cops. I hate how they try to dig up your business.” I glare at him “Well, maybe you shouldn’t be getting rich off of illegal businesses and death. ” He lets out a mocking laugh and lets go of my cheeks slightly throwing my head back with force that was pretty aggressive “Wow, Detective you’re funny. You know not everyone grew up with the same stupid sense of right and wrong as you right? We do what we can to survive.” I shake my head “No, you and your stupid mafia sheep are just a bunch of idiots who will eventually fall victim to natural selection.” He grabs a fistful of my hair “Oh, we’ll see about that.” He leans in close to my face “I need the rest of the names of the cops who are working on the Ito case, you pigs have something that belongs to San.”
Oh god, is he talking about Choi San? So it was his cufflink, I should have known. I shake my head “No, I won’t tell you anything...” He mutters under his breath “You little- I seriously don’t have patience for you...” he grabs me by the collar of my shirt and punches me in the jaw. A sharp pain shoots through my jaw and the taste of blood fills my mouth, for a few seconds I look at him slightly dazed while I mumble “I’m not telling you.” He shakes me violently pulling me from the rope I'm tied to “Talk! I need those names now!” he pushes me back and I fall on my back and on my arms letting out a pained cry “No! I’m not going to tell you anything!” The male walks over to me and kicks me several times in the stomach causing me to let out pained screams and cough up blood. Slowly I start feeling like I was losing my consciousness again but before it happens he grabs me by the rope I was tied up with again and pulls the chair back up “Hey, are you passing out? Come on, tell me names and It’ll all stop. I promise.” He spits out mockingly. I shake my head while I look at the floor trying to dissociate myself from the situation I’m in. Blood profusely drips from my mouth onto my white collared shirt soaking through the shirt and feeling the dull drops of blood fall onto the fabric. One, two, three..
The dark haired man walks over to the corner of the room and grabs a crop whip and hits me so hard I could hear the whip crack. I let out a cry of pain and suddenly a thin, tall, dark haired man dressed all in black wearing a leather jacket comes in and grabs his shoulder “I think she’s had enough. You can stop hitting her now Wooyoung, she’s not going to talk.” Right after he comes in another man enters the room, he wore a wine colored dress shirt and some fitted dress pants with his dark hair slicked back and black rimmed glasses. It’s Choi San, the current leader of Aurora Syndicate. He looks exactly the way people described him to be. Handsome, cat like eyes with a jawline sharp enough to cut diamonds, and a very intimidating prescence. Wooyoung, slighty nervous knowing he messed up looks over at both guys and says “Seonghwa, San, I tried being nice but she was being so rude I didn’t have a choice.” San looks over at Wooyoung quite irritated and says “Can’t you ever follow orders? We need her alive. I never asked you to do this.” Wooyoung raises both of his hands and nods “Alright, alright fine. I’m sorry. I just thought that because you usually-” San turns to Seonghwa and cuts him off “ Seonghwa, please take her to the infirmary and ask Jongho to clean up Wooyoung’s stupid mess” San then makes his way over to me and kneels down, looks at me for a few seconds and lifts my chin up with his finger to meet his gaze all while wiping the blood off my chin with his thumb “I’ll talk to you later Detective, we have some things I wan to discuss.” he gets up and wipes the blood he wiped off of my chin onto Wooyoung's shirt. Slightly annoyed by this action, Wooyoung scrunches up his face in distaste and follows behind him leaving me alone with Seonghwa.
The man quietly walks over to me and uncuffs me from the chair. “That’s a lot of blood, I hope Wooyoung didn’t do too much damage.” His soft voice had some calming effect to where I was slowly coming back from my dissociation and felt a bit more grounded. He kneels next to me and for a few seconds he lets me recollect myself “Let’s go to the infirmary, hopefully you can get rest there.” Slowly tears well up in my eyes making my vision blurry. He lets out a soft sigh and gently pats my back “It’s okay, don’t cry. I can’t guarantee that nothing will happen to you but I suggest you just listen and answer the questions you’re asked.” I shake my head “No, I’d rather die than throw my whole squad under the bus.” He fixes my disheveled hair and says “I know, but trust me the faster you fess up the faster you’ll be able to leave. Just think about it, please.” He slowly helps me up and picks me bridal style in his arms.
While we head over towards the infirmary I break the silence by saying “Why are you being so nice?” For a few seconds he stays quiet until he finally responds “Well, I believe in treating people with kindness despite whether or not I dislike something about them. For instance, I don’t like the feds but that won’t stop me from being a decent human being.” I look up at him in sheer confusion “But you’re a literal criminal. You steal and kill people for a living.” A small smile appears on his face and he says “Criminal or not i’m still human. Remember, we all have reasons as to why we do things even if sometimes those things aren’t good.” He’s right, even the people on the other side of justice have their reasons for being criminals. Not everyone decides to do it because they want to be evil, most of the time it’s the lack of money, or a cry for help. Everyone is different.
When we finally enter the infirmary it smelled exactly like a hospital, intoxicatingly sterile. Jongho was at his desk on the computer but as soon as he sees me in Seonghwa’s arms he quickly gets up and walks over to us. Seonghwa gently sets me down on the examining table. Jongho looks at me for a brief second in horror then looks over at Seonghwa “What the hell happened? Why does she look like this?” Seonghwa looks at Jongho and says “It was Wooyoung, San got pretty upset about it too.” Jongho looks over at me and glances at the police badge around my neck making a very uncomfortable face and huffs under his breath “That bastard..” He uncomfortably smiles “ Seonghwa, I’ll take it from here thank you.” He nods and walks out the door closing the door behind him. Leaving Jongho and I alone.
Jongho puts on some latex gloves and he grabs his stethoscope from a drawer near his desk. He gently places the chest piece on my chest and does a whole routine check up listening to my breathing and what not, shortly after he finishes he puts his stethoscope around his neck and clears his throat “I listened to your organs and everything sounds fine, no broken ribs which is good. I see that your arms are quite red, so you might get bruises but no broken bones which is good news too. I also see that you coughed up blood but you’ll be okay you’ll just be sore for a couple of days the internal bleeding will heal on its own as it's not severe. I'm going to give you some pain killers, they’ll help for a couple of hours.”
After taking the medicine he proceeds to clean my busted lip “Thank you, but I have a question.” His eyebrows slightly raise “Oh, sure what is it?” I give him a pleading look and I say “Why am I here?” his face grows a little serious and he goes back to cleaning my wound “Oh, well you’re here because San Is looking for a family Heirloom he lost... That heirloom is so important to him because it was a gift from his father and to get it back he decided he was going to hold you for ransom until the police hands it over.” I sit there trying to process everything for a few moments then I respond “Isn’t that a little overboard for a cufflink?” Jongho shrugs “It is, but knowing how San is since he really treasures everything his father gave him. I’m sure he really doesn’t want to replace it and it’s understandable.”
San’s father, Junseo “The Phantom” Choi. He was killed in a shootout last winter at a restaurant he frequented. I look down at my police badge then I look over at Jongho “San could have just asked me to give it to him. It's really that simple.” Jongho shakes his head “I wish it was that easy but it’s complicated, let’s just say that your Captain and San’s family aren’t on great terms so in a way this is payback .This is as much as I can tell you because to begin with I wasn’t even supposed to tell you any of this so please just act like it’s the first time you’ve heard about it when San questions you.” I nod “Of course no worries. By the way thank you for not trying to kill me.” Jongho’s small smile comes back and he says “Of course, none of this is your fault to begin with.” Suddenly a guy with light grey hair that almost looks white comes in and says “Hey, I’m taking her from you San wants to talk to her. Is she clear for interrogation?” I give Jongho a worried look and he gives me a small reassuring smile, helps me get off the examining table and walks me over to the guy at the doorway “Yes Hongjoong, she's clear.”

I am interested to see how Shiro from Ice Scream would be as a yandere… Tbh I think I’ve never seen a x reader content of him
You ask and you shall receive! Though, now that you mentioned it, yeah, Shiro tends to get a bit overshadowed huh. Poor guy, he deserves some love too!
Warnings: yandere character; descriptions of violence and blood; stalking; some self-harm ideation on Shirogane’s side;
Shirogane
🤍 It's no secret that Shirogane is Iceberg Isle's resident coward and punching bag.
🤍 It seems that life just decided to deal him the worst hand possible. He barely ever gets a break.
🤍 And so, above anything else, Shirogane is just desperate for someone to be kind to him.
🤍 Sure, he seeks refuge in Yukisada, his old friend and only resident who actually respects him, but it never seems to be enough.
🤍 The owl comforts and defends Shirogane from the others to the best of his abilities, but the wolf always ends up back at his door bloodied or crying. Or both.
🤍 Everyone else is busy either bullying him or straight up trying to kill him. There's usually not much of an in-between for poor Shirogane.
🤍 That's why your kindness towards him is so, so important. All it would take is a series of events where you show that you're friendly and care enough, and it's done. Basically irreversible.
🤍 He gets attached.
🤍 It all started so innocently too, with you just wanting to help.
🤍 You found him crying, curled up in his cape in a dark corner of the Isle. You had no idea who he was, being new to this place and ignorant to the dynamics of its residents. But you felt so bad for him.
🤍 You tried to offer your help, despite him nearly screaming until passing out when he first noticed your presence. He had never seen you before and was fully expecting you to just start tearing him apart, either verbally or physically, much to your horrified surprise.
🤍 And so that's where the previously mentioned series of events started.
🤍 You simply thought you made a new friend. But Shirogane became convinced he found his saviour.
🤍 He starts following you around, curious towards everything you do. Literally like a lost puppy.
🤍 It doesn't matter if he started to get accused of being a stalker by the other residents, another insult to the ever growing list. He needs to be near you, it makes him feel safer. And he sucks at being discreet either way, so you'll very quickly become aware of how he barely ever leaves your general vicinity.
🤍 Though if you even just show a small sign of finding it annoying, he'll immediately run to hide away from you. He'll later be found sulking at the bottom of an ice cave somewhere.
🤍 But he always finds his way back to you.
🤍 He'll try to do anything you ask of him, too. Despite him having no particular talents and somehow managing to screw up even the most basic of tasks.
🤍 He might deny it at first, saying that there's no point in him trying or that he doesn't mind. But his wagging tail betrays him. And then he'll spend hours on it if need be. It's actually kind of impressive, how the results always end up lackluster no matter how long he spends on it. But he's trying!
🤍 He so badly wants to impress you, somehow. And he tends to go on self-deprecating rants whenever he fails. To you, himself or even Yukisada or whoever is around to hear. By this point everyone knows he's embarrassingly obsessed with you.
🤍 Which just turns into yet another point for the others to tease him about.
🤍 Except for Yukisada, of course, who thinks you two are adorable. He's always happy to welcome you into his shared home with Shiro, so unbelievably glad (and relieved) that his friend has finally found someone that cares for him.
🤍 He definitely adds fuel to the fire of Shirogane's obsession, even if unintentionally sometimes. He kinda just... Turns a blind eye to the obvious red flags of Shiro's behaviour, not wanting to ruin the fragile happiness of his friend. He thinks he deserves it, these moments of comfort.
🤍 He might even help him out with keeping an eye on you, though covertly. Always inviting you over to the point you might as well live with them, always nudging you towards his friend through friendly suggestions, always making sure the others don't try to tell you anything that will turn you against the wolf, just so you won't make poor Shiro sad. Yukisada is just so sweet, surely you'll listen to him, right?
🤍 But all of this time spent around Shirogane is going to turn into an even bigger problem for you.
🤍 Because you being his favorite immediately puts you in a vulnerable position.
🤍 Now you're a target too. And no one else makes that so apparent like the orca who decided to make Shirogane's life a living nightmare.
🤍 When Idate finds out about you, your life might as well have become hell on earth. As if dealing with Shirogane's obsessive clinginess wasn't enough, now there's a gleefully violent man who decided to make torturing you a new pastime of his.
🤍 It's the perfect kind of fun for you three to share, the orca thinks. He loves massacring Shirogane and Shirogane loves you, what a match made in heaven!
🤍 He already had gotten around to tormenting Yukisada due to his involvement with the wolf, but you're Shiro's brand new emotional support, how fun will his reactions be while the orca tears you apart!
🤍 Shirogane is way too weak to keep you safe, so it usually falls onto you to be the protector. If you have any fight in you, that is, because if you're on the less violently inclined side, then both of you'll end up in a bloody pulp quite often.
🤍 But he tries, oh does he try to save you. He hates seeing you in the hands of that orca, or the hands of anyone else for that matter.
🤍 Sometimes, he finds the courage. He grows a spine and fights back, surprisingly violently and surprisingly proficient with a harpoon gun you didn't even know he had.
🤍 It doesn't usually end well for either of you. Or any third party involved.
🤍 He does always manage to drag you and him both back to Yukisada for help, though. And whenever he doesn't, he's dragging your beaten body into one of the dark ice caves he usually hides in, curling himself around you and hiding you both with his cape. And he'll stay like that, clinging to you, for hours. There always seems to be the sound of crying echoing from those caves.
🤍 In moments where he's feeling particularly desperate, or when the fear of you leaving starts to make him even more irrational than usual, Shirogane will also use his status as a victim to keep you with him, using your compassion for him. And while he doesn't necessarily need to play the victim most of the time, as it already happens without much of his input, he'll double down on it if "necessary".
🤍 He'll guilt trip you, basically. Crying and hysterical, saying that he'll surely die without you. Everyone else hates him and wants him dead, but not you, right...? He might even walk into situations where he knows he’ll end up hurt, because that’s how this all started, so that means you’ll be back to fussing over him as soon as he’s hurt, right?
🤍 Although all of this is awful... Shirogane can't help but kind of revel in it, in you basically being stuck with him. Of your only escape from your newfound hell being him.
🤍 He does feel bad about it, sometimes. There are moments where he won't stop berating himself, saying he's horrible, that he doesn't deserve you. That he doesn't deserve anything. It's all his fault and he can't do anything about it. He can't do anything useful, after all.
🤍 But the cycle continues. And he's not letting you go, he'll never stop digging his claws into the only respite he has from this self-made hell.
🤍 And you know what they say. Misery loves company.

"Hey..." He holds you to him, voice rumbling through your bones, "I'm here. I won't leave you again."
You know better than to believe that. Still...
"Do--do you promise?" You hiccup, tears blurring out the stars behind him as he pulls away just enough to cradle your head in both hands. He smiles, leaning forward to kiss your forehead, your nose. Then, he leans against you.
"I promise."
-
(Shiro left someone behind before Kerberos. Now, he's come back. Things will never be the same again.) [Written at the end of Season 2, before we knew Adam existed. Sequel to Promise]
=
Sunrise comes in a wash of colors and warmth, light restored to the world. To your world. In the dawn light that filters through Keith's tiny bathroom window, Shiro's even more of a mess than before, sharp lines and tired eyes that drink in the sight of empty scrub desert and messy shack. It's like watching a blind man see for the first time, finally understanding what everyone takes for granted.
He's thinner, too. Covered in scars that speak of months of fights. Claw marks, ragged wounds healed improperly. The thin marks that can only be from a scalpel or something like that. Small, perfect holes that speak of projectile weaponry. You catalogue each one, mind going end over end as you snip and shave his hair, Keith bark and bluster just outside the bathroom door.
A lot can happen in a year, you think to yourself, but this is...something else entirely.
"What happened?" You finally get the nerve to ask, the fine strands of his hair clinging to your fingers as you finish up. He's tense, metal and flesh hands grasping at his knees, dressed in his own clothes that Keith had stored here. He stares at the floor, but his eyes are distant, staring into a space where you can never stand, and perhaps...never understand.
"I don't remember." His voice is soft, barely a whisper. "I don't...there's this..." He takes a breath, in through his nose, out through his mouth. He looks up at you through the mirror, through the shock of white hair you weren't sure how to cut. The morning sun casts odd shadows on his face. Your stomach churns again. "There's this black hole in my memory. I remember leaving the Garrison, the launch, getting to Kerberos, but after..." He closes his eyes. "Just...flashes. Nothing I can put together."
Trauma, supplies the bookish part of your brain. This time you don't shush it, taking in the lines of his starved body, the scars on his flesh. Your stomach churns, and you swallow it down. Maybe it's better he can't remember.
"Well." You say, then have to clear your throat. You reach down for his hands, flesh and metal alike. The temperature difference is stark, but his grip is gentle as he closes his fingers around yours. "What really matters is you're home. We can figure out the rest as we go."
He smiles at you, kissing your palm.
"Business as usual, huh?"
"Business as usual."
---- Except it's not. It's really not. Things go to hell in a handbasket faster than you can say your own name.
What happens after...well. Half the time you're still not quite sure. --- Half-sentient, ancient battle lions. One of whom has been sitting, on Earth, for ten thousand years.
Actual aliens. Actual talking, walking, breathing aliens. Spaceships. A corrupting empire spreading across the stars like a plague.
Pidge, Lance, Hunk. Keith. Shiro. Destined to fight it in a legendary space robot like something out of a mecha anime, even if half the time they can all barely get along. Maybe that's half the point, you think to yourself, standing on the Arusian hillside just outside the Castle. Unfamiliar stars whirl overhead, not a single constellation marked in the clear skies.
You never did end up finding Mars that night. Now, you wouldn't have a single clue where to look.
"You know," Shiro says, causing you to turn around to see him walking up the hill behind you., "I was thinking about it, and..."
"Yeah?"
"I kept my promise." He smiles. "I came back."
You can't help it. You laugh. His smile only widens as he comes to stand beside you, shoulder warm beneath your arm as you have to reach out for support. Laughter shakes your sides, your shoulder, your throat. Slowly, it gives way to tears. The grief of the past year clogs your throat, burns your eyes.
For a year he was gone. Dead. His name is carved on a memorial for Progress into the stars, stars humanity will never understand are so much bigger than they ever could have imagined. For a year, you mourned him, mourned the color pulled out of your life with Shiro, and now...
Now he is back, the color has returned, and it hurts. You can't breathe for the pain of it, the heaving sobs that wrack your body and bring you both to your knees. He pulls you in to a hug, cradling your head against his shoulder, warm and so very alive.
You should know better than to believe that. Still, as he holds you to his chest and lets you learn that he's alive again, you find yourself believing it anyway.
Maybe that's what makes what comes after so much harder.

About the alpha — Multifandom
Notes: This is in no way, shape, or form how you have to imagine their meetings or who they are in my writings, I always try to keep these vague, but in case you want to know how I think their story and meeting with the omegas would go.
I will do Inuyasha's characters separately, cause I think of so many ways they could meet each other, and that's to all of the characters.
Warnings: might have grammar errors, heavy spoilers on HTTYD, and mild on Voltron (principally Shiro's and Lotor's)
Now I must explain this first, when I make a Character x Reader I don't normally include the other characters having an Alpha(Reader), so if in certain scenarios where they would be the "same person" just think of two different universes.
I'm also aware that some of these might change significantly or completely the plotline of their anime/series.
» Voltron:
For Keith and Lance, I imagine the alpha being an Altean who was with Coran and Allura, more specifically Allura's older brother (by a maximum of 5 years).
For Hunk the alpha is another race of aliens, I cannot choose between Galra and Olkari, so maybe a hybrid of both. I just know I would love for his alpha to be a Blade of Marmora member.
For Shiro is a lot more simple, they would be a human, either part of the Atlas crew or a civilian he met after the war. If he met them before the Cerberus mission (like Adam), I do think Alpha would also go to the mission.
Now for Lotor is more complicated, I would love for him to have a childhood friend with who he fell in love in the future, but for that to happen they would have to be Galra and I don't know if he would fall in love with a Galra considering what he said about them on his close to last moments. So he might fall in love before his hatred started, that's the only way this could ever work.
» Stardew Valley:
Obviously, for both Sam and Sebastian, the alpha would be the new farmer, but I think the way they would meet is different.
While Sam has seen the farmer around town and pretty early on have talked to them and become friends, that's a little more difficult for Sebastian, who spends most of his days inside his room.
So the farmer will have heard of him by Sam and Robin, maybe even Abigail and Maru, but has never seen him. The first time they see each other is on a rainy day when Sebastian decides to go to the beach.
» How To Train Your Dragon:
Hiccup and Snotlout would only date someone who's from Berk, preferably a fellow Dragon Rider. For Dagur we have two ways, either alpha was a dragon hunter and redeem themselves with Dagur, or they're a Defender of the Wing member who worked close to the Dragon Riders on some missions (I love Dagur and Mala as a couple, even though it was kind of rushed).
For Viggo, he would only date a Dragon Hunter, but they would've only become one because of him, they wouldn't feel pleasure in killing or slaving dragons. When he went to hide after falling into the volcano, he would have made his alpha hide with him, and on his redeem, they both would die.
» Boku no Hero:
For all three of them (Bakugou, Todoroki, and Kirishima), their alpha is in the hero support class and they're the ones responsible for their omega's hero suit. Or they're at a maximum a civilian, I cannot see them dating another hero, I don't know why.
» Nanbaka:
These are quite simple also, for Musashi and Liang alpha would have to be an inmate, but not for a serious crime like murder, maybe they're in for robbery (for survival) or for escaping arrest/prison.
For Hajime, they would either be a civilian who visits him from time to time, or another guard as long as their relationship doesn't affect their work.
Enki depends on the time, if they met when he was a guard then they would have to be a guard, but if they met when he became an inmate, then they would also have to be an inmate.

Yandere ! Gojo Satoru x Female ! Reader
Part 4 | my life
Warnings | death , gojo starts to get a bit delusional , yandere gojo , gojo being salty about y/n's new life , mentions of su!c!de by poison , murder , grammatical errors , etc.
Infinity Masterlist
year 1120 AD
GOJO SHIRO, at the somewhat middle age of 30, couldn't believe his eyes. His six eyes, dulled a bit due to age, seemed to ignite with a sort of happiness as he looked down at a newborn that his dear daughter wanted him to meet. (As he got older, he was practically forced to marry someone from the clan elders despite him being the lord of the land and head of the clan now. He honestly didn't want to as he saw it as him betraying y/n, but alas, life must go on for the Gojo clan.)
"Her name is Y/n Gojo, isn't she cute?"
Life sure was cruel. Here he was still not dead from his second life and here y/n was already in her third, her second reincarnation. A sort of dark pit settled within him. A seed of pure rage entangled him and took root.
"She is cute," he muttered, but she wasn't supposed to start her second life without me. And she's a Gojo no less, so even if I reincarnated we wouldn't be able to be married together, we would be related to each other for God's sake!
He had to right the wrong.
So, he made a quick decision. A just decision.
"However, she's been cursed."
His daughter paled, "w- what?! Cursed?! But father-"
He held up his hand as y/n laid gently in his arms, "you know the rules as much as I do. That husband must of done something to you during childbirth, or when she was being conceived. You know better than anyone else that the Gojo clan has enemies lurking in the shadows."
"Minako would never hurt her! He loves our little girl!"
"And how can you be sure? You nor anyone else has the six eyes, you nor anyone else can see what I see, and this child is cursed. She'll bring the Gojo clan to ruin if she exists a second longer."
"But father-"
"Enough! If you do not have the will to end this cursed child's life, then I will take it upon myself."
"You can't father! You can't! There must be another way! We can save her!"
His daughter was in hysterics. All she wanted was for her father to finally meet her baby little girl. If she knew this was going to happen, then she would of run away with y/n and Minako in tow.
Urumei was summoned a moment later and had grabbed a tight hold of Gojo's daughter.
"Take her outside while I handle this."
"Of course, my lord."
His daughter could only kick and scream in Urumei's grip. Her wails being heard outside the door and down the hall as Gojo was left with y/n. His six eyes now focused onto the small baby in his arms.
"You're quite cruel for doing this to me, but don't worry y/n, my precious little y/n. I know you didn't have control over where you were born and who you were born too. But you must understand .. if I die and am reincarnated and you're not there, then how will I live? You're my world. And I'm your moon. You said so yourself. We made a deal. Its only fair that we be reincarnated at the same time so that we're together."
He activated hollow purple. And, for a moment, he was glad that she was still asleep. He doesn't think he would be able to go through with it if she were awake, and just as he was about to go through with it. She had opened her eyes. They were a brilliant, bright (color) and his breath faltered. Looking up at him, she smiled and giggled and held out her chubby, small hands up to him. Her fingers making grabbing motions.
He deactivated hollow purple and decided to just come up with the excuse to raise her himself and to "make sure she wasn't cursed anymore and didn't hurt anyone within the clan."
His daughter, when she was brought back in, could only weep and smile at the good news, grateful to her father for not killing her baby. Granted, since y/n was still "cursed" as she and everyone else within the clan were told to believe, then it meant she wouldn't be able to take care of her daughter and instead her father would look after her instead. But she was still happy nonetheless.
And that was how life went for the next fourteen years.
"Father, father, father!"
Now at the age of 44, Shiro could be found carrying y/n around on his back as she would point at the different food stalls, wanting to try all the different kinds of sweets they had.
Now, Shiro was, in fact, her grandfather of course, but he decided to blur the lines a bit on that since he was still young and because his daughter and her husband had passed away tragically in a cursed spirit attack when y/n was only two years old. Many found it odd how he didn't seem phased over their deaths but reckoned that he just needed to focus on caring for his newly made daughter instead.
And y/n simply didn't need to know. Besides, as he said, he was still relatively young so what was the harm in posing as her father figure instead? (Not to mention that he erased anything and everything related to his previous daughter and wife. Hell, he couldn't even remember their names!)
"You want to try that next?"
"Yes, please!"
Much to Shiro's delight, despite living under his doting care she still turned out the same as in her first two lives. Cute, shy, and super adorable. However, she was a bit chubby but that was only because he absolutely refused to see her in a sickly state as she was seen previously in her other lives. And it was nice seeing her so happy. He doesn't remember ever being so happy before with her first two families. Granted, in her second life her mother there was nice but y/n didn't have a father and her mother was always working. Not to mention those bullies were- he seethed a little, that's right. To y/n, this was the only life she lived, but to Gojo he was still in the life where those damn brats killed her.
He tried to clear his mind and focus on y/n instead.
The day went on and soon night fell which meant their usual routine. Y/n would wash up and immediately get dressed in her night clothes and come into his room. He would already be in bed and would pat the spot next to him as she would happily clamber in next to him.
But just before she would fall asleep, he would tap her on the nose.
"Forgetting something?"
She giggled a little as she turned towards him and lifted her head forward. Her lips gently pressing against his cheek as she gave him a tiny goodnight kiss.
"Goodnight, father! I love you!"
He kissed her forehead in return, and hugged her close, "goodnight my sweet angel."
And as she would fall into a deep sleep, he would find himself in discomfort. This was not the life he wanted with her. Not at all.
So he would find himself reaching into the cupboard next to his nightstand. His eyes glinting into the dark when he would find a dark vile. In it was a heavy poison. He knew what he had to do.
Uncorking the lid, he parted y/n's lips and let the liquid slip down her throat.
Now, this wasn't a rash decision, he's actually been thinking of this for quite some time. He couldn't wait any longer to die and to get reincarnated with y/n. He didn't want to be her father figure or even a father to her. He wanted to be her husband. But life was cruel.
It wasn't fair.
not fair
not fair
not fair
not fair
Thats what he always told himself, and he finally went through with it, and making sure that her heart stopped and she was truly dead. He, too, took a swig from the bottle and then promptly tossed the vile out the open window for someone to find while on patrol.
It wasn't fair. He deserved to have y/n as a wife, not a daughter, or as a granddaughter. It only made sense to finally start anew. Besides, she lived a decent life. A decent childhood. He could have killed her as a baby. Oh, he really could have. But he didn't. He let her live.
So, by doing that, he deserves to take that life away too and start again.
He knew they would be reincarnated together this time. Because they didn't end up together. This wasn't their happy ending.

Nintendo Switch Weekly Round-Up for the Week Ending October 26th, 2024
Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the Nintendo Switch Weekly Round-Up for the week ending October 26th, 2024. This week is absolutely bonkers, with the number of interesting releases on Thursday alone exceeding the limit for screenshots in a single post on this site. I had to choose to either cut a bunch of games or give them short summaries with no screens, and I've opted for the latter. Not much else I can do. Anyway, let's check out this week in the world of Switch!
Featured New Releases
Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven ($49.99)
Square Enix's spiffy remake of Romancing SaGa 2 is here, and it seems to be a lot easier for a new player to get into than even the reissue from several years back. That said, this is still a SaGa game. If you're expecting something conventional, you're going to be disappointed. This one's for the people chasing a different flavor of RPG.
Sonic X Shadow Generations ($49.99)
One of the few 3D Sonic games that didn't get a good kicking back in the day returns with some new old stages featuring Sonic's Venom, Shadow. The word has been very good about this remake on other platforms, but SEGA not giving review codes for the Switch version is… somewhat concerning. Someone is going to jump on this, and I'd wait for that someone to report before buying on this platform if I were you.
Yakuza Kiwami ($19.99)
This one on the other hand I can fully vouch for. Yes, there are better looking and performing versions of this game, but this is a more than acceptable way to play Yakuza Kiwami on the go. It reminds me of the PlayStation 3 version. If you're new to the Yakuza series, you're in luck. This is a remake of the first game, so you don't need any prior story knowledge. And it's pretty awesome, even if it isn't necessarily the best game in the series. I reviewed it on the TouchArcade Patreon, so do check that out.
Ys X: Nordics ($59.99)
Urgh, too many good games aimed at my interests today. This is the latest Ys release, and this time around Falcom handled development of the Switch version itself. The result is a game that actually runs better than the previous games despite being technically more demanding. This is another great installment in the series, and one that seems to be going over better with people who didn't care for Ys IX.
The Smurfs - Dreams ($39.99)
I've had a startling revelation since receiving my review copy of The Smurfs - Dreams. The Smurfs platformers from Microids kind of rule. The first two have an exploratory Mario 3D platformer vibe, and this one here? It's like Mario 3D World. It's not quite as good, but it's more than good enough to recommend. The worst thing I can say about it is that it's a bit easy, but if you don't mind that then I can heartily recommend this. I reviewed this on the TouchArcade Patreon too, and here's that link.
Romance of the Three Kingdoms 8 Remake ($59.99)
Lots of remakes this week, eh? Here's Koei Tecmo's pitch for your gaming dollars, and it smells a lot like a giant strategy game that will eat dozens if not hundreds of hours of your time if you get into it. That's a big if, because this game is only slightly less difficult to sort out as a new player than the original game was. Lots of new elements here, and of course the presentation has been fully redone.
Shin chan: Shiro and the Coal Town ($39.99)
After the Kaz Ayabe-led Shin-chan game from a couple of years ago scored a decent hit, it was practically inevitable that a follow-up would arrive. This game follows a similar template to the previous one, following Shin-chan on a summer vacation-style adventure. There are interesting side-quests to tackle and one big, curious mystery to solve. Kaz Ayabe wasn't involved with this one and it shows to an extent, but I think this still merits checking out if you enjoyed the last one. Look for my review on TouchArcade's Patreon next week.
Card-en-Ciel ($24.99)
While it's true Inti Creates used to work on the Mega Man series, it did not work on the Mega Man Battle Network series. That isn't stopping the developer from taking its own swing on the concept, and you know what? That's cool. I don't mind seeing more games like that, in principle. In practice, this one feels more committed to the idea than in trying to be its own worthwhile game, and I think that's where it differs from the also homage-tastic Gunvolt. The story is not very interesting, and while the gameplay certainly feels similar to Battle Network, it all feels a little hollow. Not bad, but not up to the series it draws inspiration from.
Botworld Odyssey ($25.00)
Explore an open world, find and build new bots, and engage in tactical real-time battles as you try to become the very best, like no one ever was. If you like your creature collectors and don't mind if they come in metal, you'll want to give this one a closer look. It's a good time.
Slay the Princess - The Pristine Cut ($17.99)
An interesting one, this. You've been sent to kill a princess. If you fail, the world will be doomed. She is going to try to persuade you to spare her. She is a liar. Be very careful what you say and do, because if you give her the slightest chance things will go pear-shaped very quickly. This Pristine Cut adds a ton of new stuff to the game, to the point that if you've only played the regular edition I think it might be worth the double dip.
Wildermyth: Console Edition ($24.99)
This is a story-driven tactical turn-based RPG, and it's very good. It aims to evoke a tabletop RPG theme, and despite using procedurally-generated bits and bobs, it manages to make you care about all of it. It's quite beloved on other platforms and I'm very sure Switch owners are going to take to it just as well. The battle system isn't anything fancy, but it doesn't have to be to get this game where it's going. Highly recommended.
Care Bears: To The Rescue ($14.99)
Who's that coming from somewhere up in the sky? Moving fast and bright as a firefly? Right, that's the old cartoon. This one is based on the new one. Well, the important thing is that this is a Care Bears platformer for up to four players simultaneously. You have to collect Caring Energy to power up your Zorlon Cannon and destroy the Quotile. Wait, no. That's Yars' Revenge. You need to fill up your Heart Cannons and destroy the Bad Seed in this one. All you have to defend yourself with is your kindness, and a belly-beam you can use to blast your enemies with caring. I'm going to review this one, and that should be fun.
Potionomics: Masterwork Edition ($29.99)
This game has done its tour on other platforms, where it has earned plenty of acclaim from critics and players. It's a shop simulation game where you're making and selling potions to try to dig yourself out of debt and eventually make some money. There is a lot going on in this game, so don't come into it with too much of a relaxed attitude. Indeed, it's almost a little stressful. Is that good or bad? It depends on your expectations, I suppose. This game scratches a particular itch, though it isn't the one you might think at first glance.
Hatch Tales: A Heroic Hookshot Adventure ($19.99)
Holy smokes, it finally came out. Way back when the Switch was new, Atooi released a charming little platformer on the 3DS called Chicken Wiggle. It starred a cute little chicken who used a worm to grapple around the levels. Atooi wanted to bring it to the Switch, and did a Kickstarter to get the necessary funds. Around a half-decade later, here we are. To be fair, this is so different from Chicken Wiggle that it comes off as a new game entirely. A better game? Hm. I'll need to spend more time with it to say for sure.
Rogue Flight ($19.99)
If you've been waiting around for a new Star Fox game, I'm sorry to say that Nintendo probably isn't going to be cooking up one for a while. But you know what? Rogue Flight scratches that itch. It's a very, very good arcade-style behind-the-ship shooter that pays heavy homage to classic Japanese anime. While this Switch version isn't as pretty as some of the other ones, it carries itself very well. A solid pick-up if you like this kind of thing.
Fear the Spotlight ($19.99)
It's that Halloween season, and if there's ever a time where the scary games shine, it's now. Fear the Spotlight is a survival-horror game that throws back to the PlayStation 1, which is the style of our time. Solve puzzles! Look around! Watch out for the bad things! Not what I'm into, but those who do enjoy these seem to be warm on this.
Arcade Archives Metamorphic Force ($7.99)
Oh wow, I've been waiting a long time for this to pop up. This is Konami's excellent 1993 belt-scrolling beat 'em up. It has terrific visuals and is about as advanced as a Konami arcade brawler got. Up to four can play, locally of course. If you like this genre, this is definitely worth adding to your collection.
The Rocky Horror Show Video Game ($9.99)
We've got a whole thing going on lately with old properties being shoehorned into a 2d platforming framework, it seems. This one comes from FreakZone Games, who you might remember from the Angry Video Game Nerd games or Manos: The Hands of Fate. Set your expectations appropriately. At the very least, you get some spiffy chiptune versions of the tunes from the musical. I have to believe there are better ways to serve this property, but I won't begrudge FreakZone for doing what it knows how to do.
SINce Memories: Off The Starry Sky ($39.99)
Set ten years after the events of the original Memories Off visual novel series, this spin-off features a new cast of characters and more or less stands alone. Junya Mizumoto is grieving his late brother, who died in an accident one year earlier. He meets a mysterious girl who says that she should have been the one to die. She quickly disappears, leaving Mizumoto to try to figure out what she's on about. But he has a job to do, renovating a traditional Japanese house with his childhood friend, and I'm sure these two plot points won't dovetail at all. No sir. This is the first game in the series with an official localization, and I wish I could say it lives up to the quality of its predecessors, but it fell a little flat for me. Maybe you'll like it more.
The World of Kungfu: Dragon and Eagle ($17.99)
A Wuxia RPG? Sure, why not. That sounds cool. This is a fairly traditional RPG in structure, so expect lots of exploring, town visits, and turn-based battles. But you get to use kung fu, and that makes it all a little cooler. The battles here are similar to a tactical RPG in some ways, so that's interesting. Reviews over on Steam are all over the place, but it does appear to have its fans.
Stilt Fella ($12.99)
A silly physics-based game where you're walking on stilts through more than fifty levels. You know, one of those games where walking properly is the challenge. These can be fun if you're in the right mood, and this is a pretty well-done take on the concept.
The Jackbox Survey Scramble ($9.99)
The latest Jackbox game, this time focusing on a Family Feud-esque challenge of trying to guess the most popular survey results for various questions. Things like cat names, what is bad to touch, dating red flags, and so on. You'll naturally want to play this with others, and as usual each player will need their own mobile device to play with.
Stickin' the Landing ($7.99)
This is a cute little puzzler where you have to place stickers to guide a rocket to its goal. The stickers will have some gravitational pull, you see. Stick them just right and the rocket will be able to get where it needs to go. I like it.
Voidwrought ($19.99)
A Metroidvania-style game that deals with cosmic horror. Yes, this is going to draw on a lot of elements from that game, and no, it doesn't do things as well as that game. Lots of spongy enemies, and there's a certain weight to the character that takes getting used to. Not bad, and I would say that its running time of under ten hours makes it appealing to me in a world of Metroidvania games that take twenty-plus hours to complete.
Soul Stalker ($7.49)
Here's another Vampire Survivors-style game, this one with a visual style that uses flat characters. It's fine as these sorts of things go. I've played worse, I've played better, and I'm probably going to recommend saving your money for the Vampire Survivors Castlevania DLC next week. Yes, that's what I'm going to do.
Kingsgrave ($9.99)
This action-adventure game sees you as a king who is trying to restore his ruined kingdom after being awoken from a long slumber. It has a Metroid-ish lock-and-key design, where you'll earn new abilities that will give you access to areas you couldn't reach before. You earn these new abilities by freeing your subjects and helping them out with their requests, which typically involve gathering materials. The combat's clunky and it's bit grindy for its own good, but there's something here worth poking at.
Cute Bite ($14.99)
Essentially what we have here is Princess Maker: Vampire Edition. You're in charge of raising a vampire girl into a fine vampire adult. What vampire future waits for her? Vampire celebrity? Vampire superhero? Vampire overlord? You'll plan her schedule and manage her skills to try to lead her to whatever outcome you think is best. That outcome may or may not involve punching bears.
dotAGE ($17.59)
That's an amusing pun with the title. It's a roguelite but the reason each run is different is that it's a story being told by an old fellow whose memory isn't so hot. He remembers more details over time, unlocking more things. It's a city builder sort of thing, with an emphasis on worker placement. You'll also have to deal with various calamities that come your way due to the impending apocalypse. Well, these things happen.
While We Wait Here ($4.99)
It's the end of the world, and you're working at a diner in a mountainside town. With nothing to do but wait for the end, how will you spend the final hours? Serve the customers and try to maintain normality? Try to encourage people to take shelter? This is a really neat concept for a game. I haven't had a chance to try it yet, but I'm definitely going to.
MiniGhost ($3.99)
An affordable little Metroidvania-style game that is trying to evoke the look and feel of an MSX game. I'll leave it up to the reader to decide how successfully it does that. There are one hundred rooms to explore, four bosses to battle, and twenty-four collectable items. It's quite brief and is upfront about only taking a couple of hours to complete. It's a prequel to Ghost 1.0, so if you liked that game then you'll definitely want to check this out.
OnePunch ($4.99)
This looks like one of those simple mobile games you'd pick up and play for a weekend, delete on Monday, and never think about again. Two buttons here, so it's as simple as can be. Just land those single punches on the sandbags, and it might be okay. Lots of unlockable skins that you'll need to grind for ages to unlock. You'll almost certainly be bored before getting them all.
Orange Season ($29.99)
You want another game like Stardew Valley or Story of Seasons, here's another game like that. It has a few twists, but nothing too dramatic. Still, for a game from a rather small developer, it has most of its t's crossed and i's dotted.
The Bridge Curse 2: The Extrication ($24.99)
Another spooky port to the Switch, one that got decent reviews elsewhere and will likely earn the same here. As with its predecessor, this is based on a popular movie and tells some proper scary Taiwanese ghost stories. Solve puzzles, gather clues, and try not to die.
Crash Puzzle Hammer-San ($9.99)
This is an action-puzzle game with three hundred stages and an editor so you can make and share your own. You play as a character with a hammer, and you'll use that hammer to do what needs to be done in order to reach the goal. A demo is available, so you can give it a try if you're interested.
EGGCONSOLE Murder Club PC-8801 ($6.49)
Really not much to say here. This is an adventure game, and like other EGGCONSOLE releases, it's being put out in its original form. That means all Japanese text in this case, and in this genre that means you might as well not bother unless you can read the language. Oh well.
Pixel Game Maker Series Chrotopia ($5.99)
This game presents a world of black and white, where the main character is searching for their missing sister. You get some adventure-style scenes where you're going around the town talking to people, and some action scenes that are a little on the clunky side. I didn't get much out of it, personally.
The Cheese Chase: Pizza Madness ($14.99)
This is a game about trying to deliver pizzas while hungry folk try to swipe them from you. It doesn't look very fancy at all, but the concept might be silly enough for some people to want to give it a try.
That's all for this week, friends. We'll be back next Saturday with another Round-Up as we finish up October and step into November. It's going to be a big month, especially if you like RPGs. And who doesn't? As ever, I will plug both my Patreon (where you can find lots of cool exclusive articles) and my Ko-Fi (tips help me run this blog). There, plugged. I hope you have a super Saturday, and as always, thanks for reading!
