is the whole novel not just like the house? scenes that cut abruptly and leave you off balance, passages that twist into places that get you a little lost; much like the house always slightly tilted and put together just well enough to leave you uneasy and uncertain. or, i suppose, eleanor's mind ended up like that. we just got to see like how the others did
