Ideas For Master Bathrooms
Whether you are renovating a new home or simply looking for new ideas for master bathrooms, there are a few things to keep in mind. Lighting management is one of them. In addition, you may want to consider using Travertine tiles, or wood ceilings.
Light colors are favored
Whether you’re remodeling or decorating a bathroom, choosing the right color can make or break your scheme. There are many colors to choose from, and the trick is to pick the best pigment for your space.
Light colors are becoming more and more popular for master bathrooms, and the bright hues will make your space appear larger. But if you don’t want to go overboard, try choosing just the right shade to make your space feel bright and clean.
The best way to choose the right shade for your bathroom is to take into consideration the style of the room. For example, if you want a sophisticated, modern look, choose a dark shade. You can also opt for neutrals, which can be pared back to create a cleaner, more sophisticated look.
Travertine tiles
Using travertine tiles for master bathrooms can enhance the appearance of a room. Travertine is a natural stone from the limestone family. It is considered to be one of the most durable and beautiful natural stone options for bathroom floors and walls.
Travertine is available in a variety of colors, including brown, lustrous silver grey, and taupe. It is also available in custom size. It is easy to match travertine colors to your existing tiles.
Travertine is also great for bathrooms because it is easy to clean. In addition, it adds value to your home. However, it is important to install it correctly and to properly seal it.
Wooden ceilings
Adding a rustic or modern wood ceiling to your master bathroom can make it look sleek, luxurious and extravagant. A wooden ceiling can create an interesting effect, especially if combined with a round bathtub. A wooden ceiling can also be combined with a wood floor for a rustic look.
When choosing a ceiling for your bathroom, you’ll want to consider the material, the color, and the design. You’ll also want to take into account your budget, space limitations, and general bathroom remodel costs.
A shiplap vaulted ceiling is a classic bathroom design, dotted with rustic wood beams. This design was popular during the 1990s, but is making a comeback in recent years.
Double sinks
Using double sinks in the master bathroom can be a smart idea. It can save you some time and stress. However, it can also cause a bit of a mess.
There are a few things to consider before installing a double sink. The most obvious is how much space you have. If you have a larger master bathroom, a double sink can add a lot of elegance to the room. However, if you’re in a small bathroom, a single sink might be easier on the pocketbook.
If you’re in a marriage, you’ll want to consider whether you want to share a sink or create your own space. For example, you might be more comfortable soaking in a soaking tub than getting ready in front of your partner.
Luxury benches or chairs
Whether you have a big master bedroom or a smaller bathroom, adding luxury benches or chairs can make your room more stylish. In addition to serving as seating, these benches can also serve as storage, so you’ll be able to store blankets, towels, and other items.
If you’re looking for a simple piece of furniture that offers an elegant look, the Upholstered Tufted Storage Bench is an excellent option. It features cabriole legs, a tufted seat, and plenty of storage space. It’s also available in a variety of colors.
Whether you’re looking for a modern piece that complements a contemporary bathroom or a vintage chair that reflects the charm of a classic bath, Z Gallerie offers a wide range of luxurious benches and chairs. Their benches are also affordable and attainable.
Lighting management
Choosing the right bathroom lighting can make your bathroom look more beautiful, comfortable and functional. There are many bathroom lighting ideas to choose from. If you’re unsure what style to choose, ask a designer. You can also look at several sites to see visuals of many products.
One good bathroom lighting idea is to choose LED bulbs, which use less energy and last longer. They also offer a warm glow and do not glare. However, you should avoid incandescent bulbs for bathrooms because they are less energy-efficient and do not last long.
Another bathroom lighting idea is to use a dimmer switch to control the intensity of the lights. This can be a nice feature in a redesigned master bathroom. It is especially handy when it comes to shower lights. A dimmer allows you to adjust the brightness of the light in the bathroom based on the time of day.

Frequently Asked Questions
What bathroom finishes will be in fashion?
The matte black finish was popular in 2022 and will continue in 2023. Other finishes that will be popular in 2023 include brushed brass and bronze. These finishes can give your bathroom a luxurious touch.
Bathroom finishes are often considered an afterthought when designing a bathroom. They should be considered from the beginning as they have a significant impact on the space’s appearance and feel. They also help to create a sense calmness and tranquility in the space.
You must also think about the materials that you use in your bathroom. A white tiled floor may be preferred with a wooden bathroom vanity unit and tub. Or you might opt for a totally different colour scheme like black and white or a completely contrasting palette. No matter what you choose, ensure it suits your taste and blends in with the rest of your house’s design.
If you are thinking of bathroom finishes, don’t forget that it doesn’t take much to make a bathroom luxurious. You can transform an ordinary bathroom with just a coat of paint.
What will be the most popular bathroom design in 2023
The bathroom market is constantly changing as customers demand better-quality products and lower prices.
The next generation of bathroom design is going to be focused on safe and sustainable materials.
This includes waterless toilets, low-flow toilets and dual flush technology.
This trend will also emphasize health and wellbeing by offering shower heads and other devices that promote better hygiene.
How do you update your bathroom in 2023
Understanding your bathroom is the first step.
What features do you really need and what are your priorities? What are your top priorities?
Then, look for products that will meet those needs.
You might not find exactly what your looking for but there are many options.
Here are some things to consider:
Size – How big is your bathroom? You will need to make modifications to accommodate new fixtures.
Style – What’s your favorite style? Contemporary, traditional, etc.? Style – Bathrooms come in various traditional, modern, and transitional styles. The traditional style has been popular since Victorian times and features natural stone floors. Modern bathrooms are sleek and feature glass finishes. Transitional designs combine elements from both traditional and contemporary styles.
Layout – Some people like smaller spaces and others prefer more space. How do want your bathroom to look?
Color scheme – What colors would you like in your bathroom’s color scheme?
Lighting – How much light do I need and where can it come from?
Storage – Do you need more space in your bathroom? Are you able to store enough? Are you lacking enough storage space?
Ventilation-Is your bathroom properly ventilated?
Features – Think about the features you want in your bathroom. You might want a heated towel rack, or a steam-shower. Would you prefer a Jacuzzi, or a spa bathtub? Do you prefer a walk in shower or a separate bath and shower combination?
Budget – You should also consider your budget. This will help you narrow your choices and ensure you don’t overspend.
Warranty – It is important to confirm that the manufacturer provides a product warranty. This means they guarantee that their products will work properly for a certain period.
When you understand what you want, it’s time to start looking at products. You can browse online, in magazines, and in stores. Once you find something you like, compare prices and read reviews before purchasing anything.
How can I make my bathrooms feel modern?
Modernize your bathroom in many different ways. You can achieve a modern design by using simple lines that are sleek and clean. Also, you can use colors like black, grey, or white. Modern fixtures such as LED lighting or rain showers will give your space a contemporary look. Decluttering your bathroom will make it look cleaner and more minimalistic.
How can you make a bathroom more sustainable?
There are many ways to make your bathroom more environmentally friendly. One way is to install low-flow fixtures, such as toilets and showerheads. This will conserve water. Another option is to use green cleaning agents, which are less damaging to the environment. Also, consider using recycled materials for your bathrooms such as recycled metal or glass. Your bathroom can be made more sustainable by simple modifications.
How to Start Planning a Bathroom Renovation
You should consider many things when planning a bathroom remodel. It is vital to determine a budget for your bathroom renovation and to adhere to it. This will ensure that everything runs smoothly and you don’t get any unexpected expenses.
After you have established your budget, you can start to think about the type of bathroom design you would like. Are you looking for something modern or more traditional? What amount of space are you able to use? These are crucial questions to ask before you start any renovation.

How to Design your Bathroom. DIY Project
Plan carefully when renovating a bathroom. There are plenty of decisions, from choosing the right materials to finding the best contractor for the job. It is important to think about how long the project will last before you start any major home renovation. That way, you’ll be able to budget accordingly.
Before you start your bathroom remodel, determine how much time you will spend on it. If you are only able to do minor changes, it is best to keep the project to a minimum of one weekend. However, if you have the time to complete more substantial projects such as replacing the tub or installing new tiles, it is possible.
After you’ve determined how much time you will devote to your bathroom renovation, you can start planning. Begin by creating a list of the changes you would like to make. Look online for ideas or magazines if you are unsure of where to start. Once you’ve decided what you want, it’s time to start looking at materials and comparing prices.
It is crucial to get a licensed contractor if you intend on making large-scale changes like adding a bathtub. Not only can they help with the installation, they can also give advice on what materials to use. They can handle all permits.
Before you start to renovate your bathroom, measure the space and take photos. You’ll be able to reference this information as you make modifications. Be patient and take it slow. Ask for help if needed.
You can calculate the cost of your bathroom renovaton by adding the following costs together:
Materials – These include everything from cabinets to tiles to paint. These items are often sold individually so you may need to purchase them separately.
Labor – Hiring an experienced contractor to install the plumbing, electrical, drywall, and other necessary services for a bathroom remodel can be a great investment that will save you thousands of dollars in future repair costs. The cost of hiring a professional contractor will vary depending on where you live and the size of your project.
Other Costs: Taxes and permits are included in the final cost category. These fees vary depending on where you live, what type of renovations you do.
Remember that your home’s value will affect the cost of your bathroom remodel. If you plan on selling your house soon, you’ll want to make sure the renovations you do add value to the property. Talk to a real estate agent or home appraiser to get an idea of how much your bathroom remodel could add to your home’s value.

Interior Design Ideas: Nantucket Shingle Style Home
If you’ve read my blog for a few years, you probably will know that I love classic homes and this Nantucket shingle home built by Orren Pickell Building Group is a home that is sure to not go out of style anytime soon.
Here, the builder share the insights of this beautifully designed home: “Honoring their East Coast roots and incorporating a cozy farmhouse feel guided the design of this gracious shingle home.
After scouring the area for land that would offer the right combination of privacy and views, the family selected this wooded, ten-acre parcel. The Pickell team positioned the home at the high point, making sure to maximize the expansive vistas on all sides.
Architectural details such as a cupola and shingled exterior provide the Nantucket aesthetic the family wanted, while the interior has the warm, lived-in feel they desired. The chicken coop, supplying fresh eggs every morning, fits right in.
Broad pine planks, rough-hewn beams in the dining room and reclaimed timbers in the family room add to the farmhouse character and complement the family’s rustic American antiques. However, custom cabinetry and an open first-floor plan make the home eminently livable today.
An eat-in kitchen, formal dining room and living room flow easily from one to another, creating an ideal space for entertaining. In addition, the first floor features an expansive master suite with indoor and outdoor showers, office space, and a large mudroom centered around a vintage workbench.
The lower level is home to an antique bar the owners found in a shop in Indiana, as well as a gym and a soccer practice area (complete with reinforced drywall to prevent damage). Three more bedrooms complete the layout upstairs.
Throughout the interior, warm colors, extensive wood, natural light and comfortable furnishings make the 5,000 home feel friendly and intimate, just as the family dreamed of.”
Pin your favorite interior design photos and have a great time, my friends!

Joanna Gaines’ New Baby Nursery: Here’s Just How Unbearably Cute It Could Be
HGTV
Now that Chip and Joanna Gaines are expecting baby No. 5, “Fixer Upper” fans are in a tizzy wondering what this lucky kid’s nursery will look like.
Of course, with Joanna’s impeccable taste in decor, it’s safe to say this new Baby Gaines is going to have one dreamy bedroom.
“Any nursery I’ve ever done—to me, that was my favorite thing,” she’s gushed to the press. Joanna says nursery transformations have been the most emotional renovations of her career, because they are so tied to the kid’s personality. “I didn’t want to do your typical pink or blue. I wanted it to feel unique and set apart.”
So what does that mean in terms of decor for her own infant-to-be? We’ll have to wait and see, but we do have some strong wagers on what Joanna is bound to do based on her favorite nursery and kid room design touches from the past. Check ’em out!
A playful awning could grace the windows
The new Gaines nursery is likely to feature an awning like this one Chip and Joanna built in a previous “Fixer Upper” home.
magnoliamarket.com/blog
Remember “The Pocket Door House” on Episode 12 last season? Chip and Joanna designed a playroom for the family’s two young children complete with an adorable wooden awning over the windows. Apparently it’s a look she’s loved ever since they built one in their first son’s room, according to Joanna’s Magnolia Market blog. Chances are good that Baby Gaines will have a similar awning, especially considering it’s been a while since they’ve designed one for a kid of their own.
Scalloped walls = kid-friendly shiplap?
Joanna might ditch the shiplap in favor of a wall trim that looks a bit softer.
Rachel Whyte, HGTV
Installing shiplap walls is one of Chip and Jo’s signature moves, but it doesn’t exactly scream “baby’s room.” However, if they’re tied to their signature trim, scalloped wall paneling (like the stuff used in one of their previous “Fixer Upper” homes, above) looks similar to shiplap but is precious enough for a nursery. We like the idea of installing it for a simple accent wall to offset their chosen paint color.
Antiques will likely make an appearance
A piece of antique furniture is a no-brainer for the nursery.
magnoliamarket.com
Whether she dips into her extra furniture collection or stumbles upon the perfect piece on an antiquing trip, Jo is likely to incorporate antique furniture into the nursery. It’s a move she’s done before: The old wooden chicken feeder above lives in the Gaines’ playroom and is used as a shelf to store books and toys.
This kid could have a very big library
Four reveals happening, four very different styles, all with one thing in common- BOOKS and more books❤️ #season5iscoming #fixerupper @hgtv
A post shared by Joanna Stevens Gaines (@joannagaines) on Oct 21, 2017 at 1:46pm PDT
Clearly, Jo loves the idea of a substantial at-home library. According to a recent Instagram post, four of the upcoming homes on Season 5 feature their own floor-to-ceiling stacks of books. Does this mean she’ll be inspired to build a library in the nursery housing the Gaines brood’s fave reads?
Chip and Jo’s four kids will likely weigh in
We’re betting all four kids will lend a hand at putting together the room for their new baby sister or brother.
HGTV
The Gaines kids usually pop up in “Fixer Upper” episodes to help with the renovations in one way or another, whether it’s accompanying Mom on a shopping trip for accessories or helping Dad on demo day. They’re used to lending a hand and they clearly love it, so it’s almost guaranteed that Jo will ask for their input on their new sibling’s room.

The Many Faces Of Farmhouse Design
Farmhouse design has swept the nation from coast to coast. You can find people in high-rise apartments and the outskirts of suburbs near Madison WI surrounded by “country living” décor. When it comes to the farmhouse decorating trend there is more than one definition. And, it doesn’t work with every lifestyle.
Elegance meets farmhouse design in this master bedroom.
Begin with an accepted definition: Farmhouse decorating is warm, cozy, relaxing and full of charm and character. It shifts the home back to a simpler time. Unpretentious is another word often associated with it. As is “all-American.”
The basic elements of the farmhouse theme trend include:
Sturdy furnishings – often hand-crafted (or created to look that way). Heavy emphasis on rich wood and metal.
Family-style – large, inviting family-friendly furniture and accessories.
Openness – from the open concept blending spaces to open shelves in the kitchen.
Classic color palette – bold colors give way to white, gray, sage and cream. Often accented with dark green, blue or black.
Features wood – from unfinished woods like birch, oak and pine to distressed, reclaimed wooden features.
Welcomes nature – displays of cut flower and houseplants link the home to the outdoor world.
While style and appearances count, the farmhouse style puts function ahead of everything else. Small touches lie deep apron sinks and overhead task lighting with large kitchen island work spaces set the stage. Convenient seating and open space in the kitchen create a functioning gathering space. A no-nonsense country kitchen lends itself to modern hectic lifestyles.
Selecting A Farmhouse Design Approach
This farmhouse kitchen blends modern convenience with the look and feel of another era.
In Madison the range of home styles spans ultra-modern reflections of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Prairies style, Tudor period architecture, 1960s ranch homes and everything in between. Only your personal taste dictates whether or not your home is ready for a country-look renovation.
When you decide a farmhouse look is what you want, there are at least 5 different styles considered to be “farmhouse.” They include:
Traditional Farmhouse
Modern Farmhouse
Rustic, Western Farmhouse
Vintage, Cottage Farmhouse
European Farmhouse
These different variations on the same theme reflect designer’s desire to create a farmhouse theme for almost any architectural concept.
The Traditional Farmhouse
The design and décor of what has come to be called the “traditional farmhouse” is the most sought after concept for kitchen and whole home remodels. For many, this is THE farmhouse. It is popularized in agazines, videos and TV programming. This version of the farmhouse includes design features like:
Comfortable furniture with plenty of cushions and accent pillows.
Heavy emphasis on natural materials
Heavy, functional furnishings
Using unusual accent elements like tools, Mason jars and baskets
Weathered wood and wood-look flooring
Aprons sinks
“Shiplap” walls – note, shiplap has become a misused generic term for any time narrow boards are fastened to the wall and it is going out of fashion.
A More Modern Approach
One New York interior designer says the modern farmhouse style takes the traditional version and “shines it up.” It’s refined. The hallmark of a more modern farmhouse is using fewer furnishings and less all-white décor. In the modern approach you’ll see more dark blue, dark green and even black. The modern look includes:
Using more metal – lighting fixtures, larger faucets, range hoods.
An industrial vibe – using more metal for shelving, heavy-duty pendant lights, etc.
Subway tile – more common in a modern approach, especially when accented with dark colors.
Refined finishes – more polished wood and stone.
Hammered metal sinks
Out To The Ranch
There’s a rustic, western farmhouse theme, too. It allows you to bring in a western flare – including more southwestern colors and designs. The western farmhouse or ranch style includes:
Heavy beamed ceilings and reclaimed barn wood.
Open, slab-sided wooden shelves
Differs from traditional farmhouse by using more weathered, raw natural elements
Colors are usually darker
Because its definition easily blurs between traditional and modern this is the “anything goes” form.
Country Cottage Meets Farmhouse
A rustic, cottage style is another variation on the farmhouse theme. While it leans toward traditional there is more room for frills and personal touches. Ruffled curtains, tea towel accents and decorative dishware are common. Feature setting the cottage style apart include:
Fabric skirts beneath white cast-iron sinks.
Architectural trim like chair rails and dish rails to spotlight collectables.
Lighter colors but not all white.
Open and glass-front cabinets.
There Are Farmhouses In Europe, Too
Popular design trends brought many European styles to the United States. The French country house is one of them. A French or European design might include:
Cool colors – grays, pastels, whitewash.
Warm woods – scrolled edges, lightly painted.
Verdigris metal and distressed gold fixtures.
Casual, comfortable natural furnishings and finishes.
Let Your Imagination Guide You
There is no one absolute Farmhouse decorating or design style. The concept is many things to many people. That’s one reason it is so popular – your imagination and personal lifestyle dictates what it does and does not include. The farmhouse recreated in your home need not fit into any preconceived mold.
Whatever your personal preference may be, bringing your dreams to life is a challenge. Interior designers keep tabs on the latest style trends and resources. In addition, A professional Design-Build team working hand-in-hand with skilled craftsmen insures your ideas translate to a perfect result.

Coastal Interior Design Ideas I think that at this point everyone knows how cold the temperatures are on the East coast, and because we are experiencing this kind of weather, I am trying to “escape” this extreme cold and jump right into a summery sunny day! Today’s “Interior Design Ideas” is all about coastal interiors. In particular, this shingle waterfront home we see above. Designed by Emeritus, Jonathan Raith Inc., Elizabeth Walker Raith & Ellisa Hallen Design (Photos by Tom Olcott & Nantucket Architectural Photography), this home is a perfect example of how a coastal cottage should be! Architectural details are evident as are the relaxed, comfortable yet tailored interiors. This post is for all of you, who wake up every morning wishing you could stay just a little longer under the warm sheets but need to get up to go to work, school or take care of your house. Create a Modern Powder Room Using Black Shiplap
Nicole White of Live Laugh Decorate previously finished her powder room, but felt that something was missing. See how she used black shiplap in an unconventional way for a dramatic and gorgeous effect.
Create a Modern Powder Room Using Black Shiplap
My powder room has long been in the market for some much needed love and affection.
It’s one of the few spaces in my home that I’d made functional, but hadn’t had the time to really make the “wow” space I wanted it to be.
So, my heart skipped a beat when The Home Depot asked me to participate in their appearance board campaign, aka shiplap.
I thought hmmmm, my powder room walls would be perfect for this and alas, this would force me to transform the space into what I’d always envisioned.
Black Shiplap Moodboard
I’ve been channeling a lot of black this year – my master bedroom is also black. I really wanted to go bold and paint the shiplap all black. Brave, because this is a windowless space, but I always think a powder room is a space that can handle major drama so figured why not?
Step 1: Remove Molding and Original Paneling
The first step when installing floor to ceiling shiplap, especially in a tight space, is to remove as much as possible. We removed the wall molding I’d installed years ago, baseboards, toilet and the pedestal sink – a temporary fix I’d installed because of major drama with the original vanity I’d ordered. More on that to come later.
Step 2: Install from the Top Down
Tip: it’s best to install shiplap from the top down since you’ll likely have an uneven piece of shiplap, and it’ll be harder for the eye to see any imperfections at the base.
Step 3: Miter Edges for a Finished Look
For the corners, we mitered the edges to meet each corner, a tedious task which meant the installation took two days.
Once installed, we filled in gaps with caulk, then sanded and painted. I chose Behr’s “Limousine Leather” (eggshell finish) – paint and primer in one for the shiplap, a great way to avoid the extra step of priming first. I considered painting the door and trim in black as well, but decided to leave them white. Since the room is windowless, I didn’t want it to feel like a cave. The white molding was also a great foil for the vanity countertop.
Tip: Black is a very unforgiving paint color, so painting with precision is key. It’s imperative to cut in between each groove as you paint to avoid seeing the white from the original wood. This may mean allowing the paint to dry then checking each crevice a day or two later to touch up missed areas.
Once the paint was dry, it was time to reinstall the finishing touches. We discovered a problem: my old toilet couldn’t fit. The thickness of the shiplap added almost ½-inch thickness to the wall, not enough room for a toilet that had a rough in of 12 in. We needed to install a toilet with a 10-in. rough, which worked out well since I purchased a less bulky one that what we had previously.
Tip: Check the rough-in on your existing toilet so you can be prepared to replace if needed.
Finishing Touches
I was also finally able to install the vanity I’d purchased years ago, but had sitting in my garage. When I ordered it online, I assumed it came with the countertop and sink since it was on the pricier side, but alas it was base only.
Back to that pesky vanity. We fabricated a quartz countertop and I decided on a simple vessel sink. By decided I mean, I decided after hours of scouring the internet for vessel sinks! After considering many shapes and styles, I decided to keep it simple since the walls would be so dramatic.
A vintage inspired faucet was the perfect bit of charm for the modern elements of the space. I chose a round wooden mirror to contrast the straight edges of the walls and vanity. This also added some warmth and texture against all the black, white and chrome.
The beauty of the black shiplap: we needed minimal artwork to style since the walls are kind of the art/focal point. I simply styled with some greenery from my own back yard, practical items like extra hand towels and soap in a wooden dispenser.
Black Shiplap Powder Room Reveal
And there you have it! Finally, a powder room I can be proud to give my stamp of approval.

2019 Home Renovation Ideas
This was a wonderful two-phase project that began when these clients decided they wanted to remodel their kitchen. This east-coast family had been living with builder-grade finishes that were dark and “Tuscan-Inspired” and were ready to have an updated kitchen that reflected their New Hampshire roots. Amy Tausk of Swoon Interiors and Stephanie Frees of Plain & Posh (previously featured here) worked together to design all new custom cabinetry that is more functional and beautiful.
Take notes on all details shared by the designers. I am sure this home renovation will give you many ideas for your own renovations this year!
Photography by Picture Perfect House.
  2019 Home Renovation Ideas
The kitchen felt dark and outdated before Amy and Stephanie worked their “magic” in this space!
Tumblr media
Kitchen “After”
Kitchen Renovation: The designers revamped the kitchen into a clean, white and fresh space – but with a warm and cozy vibe like the rest of their house. Quartz countertops, clean-lined white cabinetry, a farmhouse sink, reclaimed wood and handcrafted subway tile laid in a herringbone pattern really transformed the space.
Counter stools – Spin Swivel Backless Counter stool from Crate & Barrel – Other Beautiful Counterstools: here, here, here & here.
Shiplap
Shiplap: Reclaimed wood shiplap on the island really added warmth and the rustic vibe the designers were looking for.
Cabinetry
Kitchen cabinets are from the Plain & Posh custom collection and are a non-beaded inset.
Range
The range is by Viking.
Flooring: Solid hardwood flooring – similar here.
Cabinet Hardware
Cabinet Hardware is by Schaub and is the Menlo Park knob and pull.
Backsplash
Backsplash: Masia 3×6 Subway Tile in Ivory – Other Tiles: here, here, here, here & here.
Kitchen Island
Kitchen Island Design: Keeping the island a square size made the best spatial sense in this room – and lent itself to using one larger chandelier instead of two pendants. Amy decided to make that the main light feature in the room and just reconfigure the can lighting around the rest of the space.
The light fixture is by Currey & Company the Simpatico Small Orb Chandelier.
Kitchen Island Dimensions – The island is 56” square
Wall Ovens
Wall Ovens: Wolf – similar here & here.
Kitchen Countertop Decor Ideas: Wooden Cutting Boards, Cake Stand, Crocks, Pitcher, Canisters, Dough Bowl, Planters, Topiaries.
Kitchen Sink
The sink is the Kohler Whitehaven apron front in their sea salt finish.
Kitchen Faucet
Faucets is by Kohler, Artifacts.
Beautiful Kitchen Tea Towels: here, here, here & here.
Kitchen Countertop
Countertops are Caesarstone London Grey.
Cabinet Paint Color
Kitchen cabinets and trim are Benjamin Moore White Dove OC-17.
Window Treatment
Window Treatment – Hunter Douglas Designer Screen Roller Lite Rise and Skyline Panels.
Breakfast Room
Their clients also wanted a cozy spot for their family to gather – in the mornings with coffee or for dinnertime conversation. The slip-covered chairs and weathered-wood table are now a favorite spot in the house. Even on a cloudy day, it feels bright and cheerful … truly the heart of the home for this wonderful family.
Table – Eldridge Dining Table, Home Decorators Collection – Others: here, here, here & here.
Dining Chairs
Chairs – Linen Slipcovered Accent chairs from Wisteria – Others: here, here, here, here, here & here.
Bar
Previously the corner of the kitchen housed a tiny desk and became a catchall for a little bit of everything. They knew they could turn it into a much more usable and beautiful space. Now it is an entertaining-workhorse – with antique-mirrored upper cabinetry and a beverage refrigerator and wine rack below.
Home Remodel
Fast-forward a couple years and this family knew it was time to transform a few other rooms in their home into the fresh clean look we had given them in their kitchen. On the list, the Master Bathroom, Laundry Room and first floor Powder Room.
Powder Room
“Good things come in small packages! The jumping off point for this room was this fantastic watercolor-inspired wallpaper. We matched the color on the custom-built vanity and added shiplap to the back wall. A favorite library sconce, fun crystal knobs and this gorgeous wall-mount faucet are other details we love. Once again, we warmed up the space with a touch of natural wood, in the form of this wood-framed mirror that ties in with the existing wood floors. Finally, it’s hard to see in photos, but the quartz countertop has a lovely textured, “leathered” finish.”
Powder Room Sconce: Anette Library Light by Ralph Lauren – similar here.
Shiplap
The Shiplap behind the sink area is painted in Benjamin Moore White Dove OC-17.
Mirror – Bentwood Rounded Rectangular Mirror from Rejuvenation.
Faucet
The faucet is from Newport Brass and is the Fairfield wall Mounted faucet (3-947).
Wallpaper
Wallpaper: Graham & Brown Indigo Aqua Wallpaper (available through the designer) – Others: here, here & here.
Artwork: One Kings Lane.
Vanity
Vanity was custom Built by the Plain & Posh collection and painted Benjamin Moore – Affinity collection Blue Echo 505.
Master Bathroom “Before”
“The builder of this home was obviously of a “More is More!” mindset … more arches, more walls, more steps – all if it making what is not a huge space to begin with feel even more cramped and choppy. While the colors were neutral, they still felt dark and dingy.”
Master Bathroom “After”
“We wanted to make the room feel light, bright and luxurious. Now, it is the exact same square footage as before but it feels huge!”
Ceiling
“Even with all of the lights off – it is so bright and cheery. And check out the ceiling! With all of the arches gone, Stephanie was able to see what it could become! She created this unique hexagon shape which inspired the rest of the room layout. The gorgeous wood bead chandelier looks stunning in the space.”
Flooring
“One of our preferences when doing bright white spaces is to bring in a warm element. We could have easily done a light floor – white or gray marble, and it would have been beautiful, but maybe a little cold – and certainly not as cozy feeling. Amy approached our client about doing a wood-look tile in a herringbone pattern for the floors – (especially since the adjoining bedroom is carpeted … we wouldn’t be competing with more wood), she wasn’t sure if she would be on board. Thankfully, she loved the idea of giving the room a slightly more rustic, farmhouse element.”
Flooring: wood/tiles: Hill House Field Tile 6×36 –  Others: here, here & here.
Vanity Layout
“What used to be one straight vanity and a big empty wall … … is now a beautifully designed double vanity that wraps the corner with mirrors and provides and extra spot with seating for putting on makeup.”
Make-up Drawer
The two small drawer fronts under the makeup area mirror are actually doors that swing open to hidden outlets. Genius!
Vanity Stool – Pottery Barn
Countertop
“And … just the right quartz counter tops are still a win-win in our book, for both their beauty and durability. This one has such great movement and even some soft brown tones that tie in with the flooring.”
Beautiful Bathroom Accessories: here, here, here, here, here & here.
Cabinetry
Bathroom cabinetry is by the Plain & Posh custom collection. Timeless design!
Chandelier
Chandelier: Dauphine Wood Empire Chandelier by RH Baby & Child – Other Beautiful Chandeliers: here, here, here, here, here, here & here (different sizes).
Cabinet Paint Color
Cabinet paint color Benjamin Moore Classic Gray 1548.
Artwork from Minted.
Bathroom Sconces
“Amy had been dying to find just the right project in which to use these vertical double light sconces, and I knew this was the one. As big as they are, they don’t take up much visual space when mounted to the mirror, yet they still make such a statement in the room.”
Sconces: Visual Comfort – Graydon Double Bath Light by Thomas O’Brien.
Faucet & Sink
Bathroom faucets are Rohl, Palladian collection.
Sinks are Kohler Caxton Rectangle (K-20000-0) in White.
Hardware is by Atlas – The Elizabeth pull in Polished Nickel Both 419 and 420PN.
Freestanding Tub
Tub is by Signature Hardware and is the Rosalind Pedestal tub.
Tub Filler: Rohl.
Tub Stool
Wooden Stool – Dip Dyed Stool from Serena & Lily.
Shower
The entrance to the shower is now on an angle.
Window
A  large window was added facing the tub to allow you to see through to the gorgeous mosaic tile on the back wall.
Shower Window
A high window was added inside of the shower to bring in light. The water closet (with cabinets for extra storage!) is located on the left.
Tiling
In addition to the sparkle the mosaics add, we dressed up a classic white subway tile with beautiful marble hex tile on the shower floor, gleaming polished nickel fixtures and a stunning lucite door handle.
All of the plumbing fixtures are from Rohl Palladian collection.
Shower Tiles: – Madrid Handmade Subway Tile in Blanco – similar here & here.
Accent Tile: Calacatta Gold Polished Interlocking Mosaic Accent Tile – similar here.
Floor Tile: Calacatta 5” Hexagon Honed on floor – similar here & here.
Laundry Room “Before”
Next – the laundry room. Like most builder-grade laundry rooms, this one was functional with no style. And … it was not even functioning to its full potential. The entire right wall was left blank … our clients put in their own table as a makeshift folding area.
Laundry Room “After”
“The cabinets were painted this lovely custom shade and given new doors and hardware. And in a room like a laundry room, why not go fun and bold with the flooring? We selected this tile that mimics the look of more expensive cement tiles.”
Tile is from Home Depot and is the Merola Tile and is the Arte Grey encaustic porcelain– similar here.
Sink Area
A new sink, countertop and faucet updated the old utility sink.
Color
The cabinetry is Plain & Posh collection. Stephanie, was extremely kind and called the cabinet maker to get the cabinet color just for you! The cabinet color is Slate Tile by Sherwin Williams SW 7624.
The faucet is the Litze pull out spray Square spout and industrial handle from Brizo in the brilliance stainless finish.
Laundry sink is from Sterling the Latitude 995-0.
Washer & Dryer: LG.
Cabinet Countertop & Hardware
“Of course, we had to add some warm wood tones too, which we did with a custom built wood countertop over the washer and dryer.”
The counter top on the washer and dryer are a wood top in a custom stain.
Hardware is by Atlas and is the Bradbury pull in their black finish.
Dream Laundry Room
“And on the other side of the room … brand new cabinetry was added, along with a true designated area for folding laundry and wall-mounted drying racks.”
Beadboard Drying Rack – Ballard Designs – similar here & here.
Storage
“But that’s not all … previously this corner behind the door was just a place for piling up all of the tall household items that wouldn’t fit elsewhere. Now, this “bottom-less” cabinet is the perfect place to hold a clothes steamer or vacuum that you can simply roll right out and use when needed.”
Folding Area Countertop
The folding area counter top is Caeserstone Pebble (4030) in a honed finish.
Laundry Basket – Steele Divided Canvas Sorter- Crate & Barrel – also available here.
Aren’t these designers just amazing? Besides being very talented (yes, you should hire them!
Tumblr media
), they were kind enough to share all details, so you can not only feel inspired but also, guided.
