It took 13 hours. Thirteen hours to drive all the way from his place in New York all the way to Chicago to see her. His sister had advised him to at least make a stop for the evening, but it had already been too long since he was able to be physically present in her space that he couldn’t wait. He had even booked a hotel, and checked in before he laid there for a few hours — unable to rest and unable to relax because all he wanted to do was see her. And she made spontaneous decisions to see him faster before, right? It wouldn’t have been the first time he stayed awake for multiple days.

Just this time he didn’t have the heroine to keep him up.

Once he had parked in the specific parking place he was told to, he tugged out his duffle bag of clothes and stretched — stifling a yawn as he moved toward the front door and knocked. The moment he saw her blue eyes and blonde curls in front of him, he dipped down and pressed their lips together — devouring his lips with her own. He stepped in as she stepped back, dropping his bag onto the floor and immediately he moved to scoop her up. He blindly moved through her home, pulling away for a moment to catch his breath before capturing her lips in another hungry kiss. Once he found the sofa, he set her down on the arm — pulling away and allowing her to fall back. He climbed on top of her with a smile.

“Tu m'as manqué, mon rayon de soleil,” he mumbled as he brushed their noses together before capturing her lips in yet another kiss.
