just another little teaser for Autumn Solstice starting where i left off last time as i continue to slowly write it between studying for my last final TwT

Evangeline’s eyes widen at his tease, her posture straitening in embarrassment as her cheeks grow redder.

“Y-Yes.” Her stutter interrupts her response. “There’s actually a lot more to it than that,” she continues, averting her eyes before turning away to admire the surrounding forest, “when I’m in my true form, I’m not exactly in control. I don’t consciously pick who I want to finalize the ritual with. It’s more of an instinctual decision made by my own fae carnal needs.”

Ada’s brows twitch up in surprise. He never knew being in her full faerie form caused her to lose so much of her composed self. Unless this was only because of the ritual that made her blind to all coherent decisions. He watched her kick the fallen leaves beneath her feet before she turned around to face him once more.

“Now, for the men,” she spoke upon meeting his gaze as if just remembering, “they must wear masks. So my choice is not biased or disrupted with the identity of the suitors. I doubt I'd be able to recognize anyone even with their masks off being in such a frenzied state so I don't see why the masks are necessary. Though I suppose it’s tradition.” She stepped towards the man before her, his hands reaching for hers the moment she was within distance. He could tell she had more to say.

“What is it?” He persuaded with a brush of his thumb against her knuckles, a comforting gesture she’d grown to love. With a sigh she steps closer and leans into him, pressing her cheek to his shoulder.

“Tell me you’ll do it.” Her wishful plea barely reached his ears before she looked up at him, “Bring me an offering. Anything at all, something you believe I'd love not matter what form I took. Something from the heart.” Her brows knitted together in hope that he’d say yes.

“Did you truly have to ask if I’d offer myself to sleep with you under the stars?” His smile is genuine yet the tease lingered, ever the charmer he was. Evangeline giggles in response.

“There’s more to it than just 'sleeping under the stars' as you so put it.” Her own grin gracing her features, “It will test you. You’ll see who I truly am, my true fae form. It’s not something every man can look at and find appealing let alone offer himself to a beast like that.” Her smile fades as her eyes trail off before another struck of memory hits her. “Oh and one more thing,” she stands back upright as she tries to hide a smile, “We’ll have to.. oh for goodness sake, for a lack of better words, fuck… in front of the bonfire while the others continue to chant their song around us.”

How Did They Do That? Types Of Magic Tricks

For those who employ a range of techniques, they will often develop some type of persona or specialty act to differentiate themselves from other performers. Just as other entertainers often find a niche, so too do magicians.

While no type of magic is particularly easy, some types are common for beginning magicians, such as learning sleight of hand tricks. Most magicians know a core base of tricks, and then develop their particular repertoire from there.

Magic is based on illusion and mystery, and all types of magic tricks employ this mystery. This is what is so alluring about magic! Secrecy is of course another major element of magic. Practicing magicians are very selective about who they share their secrets with. People who work with magicians are often required to sign contracts stating they will not share the magician’s secrets with anyone else.

What types of tricks do magicians perform? The following list is a basic overview of magic tricks that are commonly associated with the practice of magic.

Sleight of hand tricks are those that involve skilled hand movements where objects seem to appear and disappear in the hands of the performer. One of the oldest sleight of hand tricks originated in Ancient Egypt. In this trick, the performer hides balls under turned-over cups. As the performer moves the cups around, the balls change positions under the cups. The observers try to watch and guess where the balls will appear, but the magician fools them every time!

Sleight of hand tricks are used with a variety of objects, including card, coins, balls, and other objects. Some magicians have even used live animals. A magician skilled in sleight of hand can perform magic almost anytime, anywhere.

Illusions are those where the seemingly impossible becomes possible. Some of the better known illusion tricks include those where a woman is sawed in half and levitation tricks. Other illusions involve making people, animals, or objects reappear. David Copperfield, a modern-day magician, has made such large objects as the Statue of Liberty and a jet airplane disappear in front of live audiences.

Escape magic is just as it sounds. The most famous escape artist was Harry Houdini, who performed a number of daring escapes in front of large audiences in exotic locations. Suspended high in the air, Houdini would be handcuffed and placed inside locked or otherwise sealed containers and emerge moments later. Escape magic is intriguing not only because of the amazing feat, but also because of the danger involved.

Mentalists are another form of magicians who appear to read the minds of strangers. In front of live audiences, mentalists will recreate drawings done by audience members that are unseen to the magician, but visible to the audience. They will also read the minds of strangers and perform an array of amazing mental tricks. The mystery of the mentalist lies in the performance in front of a live audience. Some mentalists in modern times have even created tricks for television where they seem to read the minds of viewers!

How and where magicians perform varies a great deal as well. Street magic, close-up magic, and stage magic all offer amazing performances in vastly different settings. Street magic is as it sounds, performed outside and in the spur of the moment. Street magic often includes sleight of hand tricks, although a variety of magic is performed this way. One of the most famous current-day street magicians is David Blaine, who performs a wide range of card tricks, disappearing acts, and even levitation on the street.

Close-up magic is performed indoors or out, and often involves such things as card or coin tricks. It is performed just as it sounds–in close range. The audience is small, and the magician sits or stands in the middle, which adds to the allure–when people surround the magician, he or she has little room to “hide” anything. Additionally, when the audience is so close, one might assume the observers could easily see the magician’s tricks–but this isn’t the case!

Finally, stage magic is just as it sounds–magic performed onstage. These magic tricks date back in history to the 1700s, and are often very elaborate performances. Stage magicians offer an extensive range of tricks from sleight of hand to making large objects float or disappear. Oftentimes large animals are involved. There are a number of present-day famous stage magicians, including Siegfried and Roy, David Copperfield, and Penn and Teller.

got no written work as always but i got some art in these trying times TwT🤲

my oc ada (short for adam)

actually i was in the process of writing ada and evangeline ocs a while back but completely forgot the, until now lol imma add a couple into this too🥴 i honeslty don't know if i'll ever post them so this might just be it SHFKDJHD

ada + evangeline background hcs!

Evangeline's a High Fae Lady of a realm gifted to her by her parents. Her parents are assholes and kinda gave her the land as a "we're kicking you out but we'll have the curtesy to give you a land we own so you're happy enough on your own and don't come bothering us". To say they aren't on good terms is an understatement.

Ada was hired by lady Evangline and her court counsel as court physician though he is a mage. He quickly got a seat in the counsel after proving trustworthy and loyal, he left a mark in more ways than one on his ladyship.👀

Prior to joining Evangeline's court as a physician, he'd just been travelling around from court to court, realm to realm finding work where he can and avoiding the monsters and creatures that roam the wild along side him.

They met when Ada entered her manor in search of a bed for a night or two to rest up before he continued his travels. Evangeline granted him hospitality and said room cuz how could she reject such a handsome man.😌

That same night they had an attack on the manor, a couple big and bad creatures who didn't know any better but to destroy anything they see fit.

Ada helped alongside the swordsmen in defending the manor, using his spell casting to put down the two beasts and followed by applying warding spells for future occurrences. He also helped heal some wounded with his magic.

Evangeline was more than grateful and also amazed that he was so efficient with his magic and rather powerful.

She asks him if he'd like a job in her court, a magician could definitely come in handy especially when he was so charming.🥴 She offered him position as court physician considering they didn't have one.

The counsel agreed, permitting him the position if he'd accept. He did.😌 How could he decline a lovely Lady let alone such a beautiful High Fae.

He'd found Evangeline quite entrancing. She was beautiful no doubt, a woman of great respect and duty and she did it well. He admired her and became a loyal mage to her court.

this was just a lore idea that came to me when i was roaming pinterest and saw too good of an opportunity for a powerful and sexy fic👀 not me streaming summer in g minor cuz it's got the same vibes that this ritual gives me🤧

"Evangeline?" Ada's gasped as the head of deep, fiery red hair before him dragged him deeper into the trees, curls bouncing perfectly with each jogging step. Eva looked back at him, grin wide across her face and she held his hand in her own, her other holding her marvellously jewelled dress as she ran. 

They come behind one larger tree before Evangeline turns around to a halt causing Ada to stagger, his chest bumping into her as he caught himself on her shoulders. Before he could question his ladyship, her hands slipped up and around his neck, pulling him down with haste as she sealed her lips to his fervently.

"I need to tell you about the ritual." She panted between kisses as their hands grasped at one another with a yearning alacrity. Ada moans into her mouth in response, knowing she'll have to pull away yet not wanting to let her.

With a few more sucking kisses Evangeline regrettably pulls away, fingers carding up the back of Ada's hair while his pearly lashes flutter open ever so languidly. He takes a moment to remember her words. "A ritual?"

"Yes," Evangeline simply stated, placing another gentle kiss to her lovers plush lips, agape as he watched her in awe, “the ritual I must perform tonight.” She took a few steps back before she began to pace, Ada leant against the tree as he awaited her words.

“I’m sorry I didn’t have the time to tell you before, and trust me I had planned to tell you much more in advance however things got a bit caught up last minute.” She looked at him sheepishly as she began mindlessly fidgeting with the loose curls of her hair. “It’s an annual ritual I have to do. To replenish my court’s earth with magik to keep it thriving, like how you see it every day. It’s quite the spectacle really, large bonfire at the hight of five men. All the while the women of the court dance around it chanting their hymns to the gods while I walk into the pyre and have my true fire fae-self revealed, which is rather the unflattering might I add.” She paused to see if her lover was keeping up.

Ada gaped at her. Though slow to process, he does grasp the concept. He’s heard of seasonal rituals before though there's all sorts and never had he thought any of them were real. He always suspected the stories to be fantasy. He definitely never thought he’d ever see one himself. Evangeline continues, “Once I step out of the fire is the only time men are allowed at the ceremony, when they line themselves up before me and hold their offerings. Then I’d pick one and, well, seal the ritual with him…” Evangeline’s cheeks glow a light shade of pink as she mumbled the last bit.

Ada’s brow cocks, “Seal the ritual?” He couldn’t help the smirk that pulled at the corner of his lips.

🌾 in a court where the sun shown a permanent golden sheen across the lands. where the hills rolled with ever plentiful harvest, a spring's cousin ever in bloom with fiery flora and fruit.

🔥 how could such a phoenix who shimmered as golden and rich as her lands, let herself be bewitched by the elegant simplicity of her white swan.

🦢 and this swan, who sought no love but knowledge, how had he tangled himself in her enchantments? a man who once swore to cool tones suddenly indulged in the fine luxuries of reds and oranges and browns.

🏵️ they spoke cloaked within the shadows, embraced hidden beyond the trees, their secrets shared between discreet exchanges and small gestures. their love bloomed like the bud of a chrysanthemum as the warm, blissful days grew ever longer. each emotion flowering another blossom of deep burgundy and red, each one more vivid than the last.

anyway i'm totally normal about them, i haven't drawn evangeline yet and i really should but god dammit finals week has not been kind to me and my motivation TwT

for now have this expression how much if feel this ship in my heart istg i can feel their love in my chest it hurts, thats wild
