maybe. I returned from the last business trip this year. Well, thank you to Nozomi for over 50 times in 2019. Thank you very much. Announcement of apology just 2 minutes after arrival time. The only Shinkansen in Japan is the safest, most accurate and comfortable to move around the world. I look forward to working with you in 2020. See you. #jr #shinkansen #Shinkansen # n700 #shinyokohama https://www.instagram.com/p/B6TGQn5HlgN/?igshid=gnxfnddlnpgw

My first World Relays have officially ended and I couldn't come away feeling happier or prouder of this team. I'm honored to have been given this opportunity to compete with these incredibly amazing women! Thank you for all the love and support! This was a scramble to put together, but we managed to make a series of bad circumstances come together for the chance of a lifetime. I can't help but leave with a new drive not just for World Championships, but also for #Tokyo2020! This experience is almost indescribable, but look out for a blog post where I try my best to put this all into words 😂 #activelygemma #iaafworldrelays #shinyokohama #ghanagirlskillingit (at Shin-Yokohama) https://www.instagram.com/p/BxZBd8UnVsO/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1s2yeni95r098

I came to Japan quite frequently during the last few months but only for work. This was the first time in about half year I had a chance to do some sightseeing like a tourist, with cameras better than an aged iPhone. I was lucky to catch sakura blossom which was delayed due to the cold spring. Japan still fascinates me in many ways - the harmony between legacy and morden city, the politeness of people, the maze of subways, narrow streets and tiny parking lots, and its economy... The pictures here are still those taken with phone :-D . . #japan #yokohama #shinyokohama #tokyo #fascinate #sakura #cherryblossom #biztravel https://www.instagram.com/p/Bv4WH3qA0Xg/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=efhe0p6is4q9

All Tomorrow’s Ramen
Like your noodles with a thick broth? You can manage the usage of chopsticks? Well, get yourself down to Shin-Yokohama and it’s glorious Ramen museum. There’s an actual museum for the noodle dish, I’m not making this up!
Moving to Japan tests your stomach, your gut and resolve to not put on weight. Japan not only boasts the classic fast food outlets but a glutenous range of domestic-based comfort/convenient high-calorie options.
Ramen is one of such dishes. Originating from China, former travelers and migrants brought the precursor bowl to Japan centuries ago; only for Japan to take it to another level. Ramen’s identity now is almost only Japanese with few people stopping to remember the dish’s foreign ancestry. In fact, it’s gone beyond being a national meal but a regional meal which differs from town to town in the country.
People in Japan can now enjoy a plethora of different ramen styles; from all over Japan. Chain restaurants are known to sell a few varieties from different local areas, as well as some more artisan restaurants making their own blend of noodle soup.
It’s the museum’s job to document the story of ramen and give a factual round-up of the most popular ramen styles today. The delight of this knowledge comes at a small price of around 300 yen, which is a small price to pay for this delicious information.
At first, the thought of this museum might not sound so riveting, yet I can assure you there are much worse avenues to spend your afternoon. As well as the seven meters of Ramen data, there’s an interactive zone where you can ‘taste the difference’ between ramen sample A and B. The gift shop is good too, even if the memorabilia is a little off the mark. (As in, they have more toy cars than packets of Ramen),
Now, the main event of this attraction is actually below the ground floor. Here you will find 10-12 ramen stalls selling an extremely different version of ramen. There’s regional ramen, abstract ramen, paint-stripper ramen… you get the picture.
The place is decked out to resemble a dystopian post-war Japan, illuminating what life could have very well turned out to be like. Poverty stricken imagery with no sign of the sun, this is the setting for your terminal meals. Of course, life in Japan isn’t so downtrodden but you get the point.
At this point, you have to gauge your persona and what kind of experience you want. Uncharacteristically, these stores offer a small portion. Outside this museum, you’ll be hard pushed to find a small bowl option. Yet, the idea is that you could try more than one style of ramen. That’s great, but are you getting an authentic taste? You decide, I personally opted for the big bowl with the idea to return and try another bowl.
I opted for the seasonal bowl, limited time only, Shizuoka-style ramen. I’m afraid that this serving has finished as I had it on the last day. It was a tad spicy, in fact, spicier than most. After a big glass of icy water though, my mouth was ready for the heat. Incredible stuff.
My girlfriend, however, picked the MVP of that particular season, having a European style ramen bowl. Which I personally believed to be superior. Whilst it lacked pizza toppings, a baguette out the side and Dutch techno blaring out of the bottom of the bowl, it was distinctly not Japanese is taste.#
After which I needed some kind of soft drink to battle the salts in my mouth. Luckily there’s an old style vending machine in which I could purchase Coca-Cola. I don’t drink soft drinks so often anymore, but this was a welcome treat on an indulgent day.
Feeling suitably wider after this meal, I decided to roll home and think about my dietary intake; of course after a little snooze. This was most certainly a day to Ramen-ber.
