Has Fu met Shino's dad ?
If so what does Shino's dad think of her?
Yes, yes, Fu has certainly met Shibi! When the two of them start hanging out--Fu and Shino--it's because Fu has basically been demanding that Shino invite her over to see the bugs on Aburame clan land. (They have more bugs, new bugs, exotic bugs, bugs that do tricks--she has a mighty NEED) At first this is an outright 'no' from Shino. His clan is very private and he absolutely does not trust this loud girl that doesn't understand personal space and came into his town with missing-nin. That's a hard no for him. (He also has no idea about her own affiliation with bugs at this time lol)
But hey, some game-changing things happen and she's very persistent and so yeah, eventually Shino breaks down and asks his father about the possibility of showing Fu around a little. Obviously he's not looking to disclose clan secrets or anything, but she'd certainly be seeing things most outsiders would not have access to. Shibi is very hesitant to say yes right away, but considering she's now been in the village for a few years and has recently saved his son's life... yes, okay, with his supervision he'll allow it.
Shibi isn't a helicopter dad or anything like that, it's just that a non-clan member being given a tour is very unusual, so he'd like to be the one leading it. Lowkey he might also be a little bit interested in meeting this particular jinchuriki... because at his point it's very known that she has Chomei.
So the very first time Shino and Fu hang out recreationally, it's with Shibi haha. He's really quite fond of Fu almost immediately tbh, not that it's easy to tell with him. He has a relatively stoic disposition, but he sees how enthusiastic she is about their bugs and land and appreciates the respect she has for both. hat's rare from an outsider. He also sees how she is with his son--friendly and not at all put off by his quiet demeanor--and it makes him happy to see someone pulling Shino out of his shell a bit. She's a bit infectious, he must admit. He's not sure he's ever seen Shino talk so much (i'ts about bugs, but still, progress is progress) and Fu hangs on his every word. It's really heartwarming for him to see, so when Shino eventually invites her back and their hangouts starts becoming routine, he's really happy about it.

shino my boy 💛💞
[ID: several sketch pages, featuring characters from naruto shippuden. the first shows many drawings of shino, from left right, there is one of him in a t-shirt looking vaguely annoyed. the next is a large head shot of him with his sunglasses raised, and one eye closed. the open eye socket is filled with bugs. next is a simple cartoony drawing of him with his eyebrows raised, suprised. there is another simple drawing of shino looking furious, with bugs coming out of his ears like steam. next is a drawing of fuu, kicking open a door, yelling "guess who's back shinoooooooo". then there is a drawing of shino looking bashful. at the bottom of the page, there is a little drawing of shino laying flat on his stomach in a pool tears and blood, captioned "shino squashed like bug. sad! oh well, there's other shinobi." next is a drawing of his hand. finally, a simple two panel comic of shino and kiba kissing. kiba turns around to the viewer, sticking out his tongue, which has a bug on it. he says "dude gross." /End ID.]

What are your wedding headcanons for Fu x Shino ?
And we've found the very first one where I am just going to have to flat out disappoint you lol.
A) I forgot who Fu was.
B) My Shino is gay.
So I'm terribly sorry but I definitely don't have any headcanons for them.
Though I can see why there'd be a sense to them being together lol.
Sorry again.

Shino Lovefest on fineillsignup coming tomorrow (June 16)
Eight million years ago (back in February) @saltykrispycake won one of my 5k followers giveaway prizes, which was a character love fest. And requested Yamanaka Fu, with Shino as a back-up.
Wellllllll I let myself get into a little bit of a perfectionistic-procrastination loop with regard to finding Yamanaka Fu content (there’s! not! much!!!) and so I haven’t done it, and the more time passed the more anxious I got about it... y’all fellow procrastinators know how it is.
So I’ve decided to just bite the bullet and make it a Shino Day, now that I have some Shino content in my drafts, with a few sprinkles of Yamanaka Fu and Aburame Torune. I also have a little smutty Shino x Reader one-shot, which is weird for me because I never write x Reader fic but the muse was insistent, lol. So June 16th will be all Shino content!
The tag will be #shino lovefest (in addition to normal tags) so if you want to blacklist bug boy, you can.
After that back to the regular mix.
I think this is all the prizes from that giveaway sorted! If you won a prize and I’ve forgotten about you PLEASE MESSAGE ME AND I AM SO SORRY.

Nampō Roku, Book 3 (18.22): the Chū-ō-joku [中央卓], Part II.
18.22) The chū-ō-joku [中央卓] (arranged for an occasion when the appreciation of incense will follow the sumi-temae, at the beginning of the shoza¹, immediately).
[The writing reads: (to the right of the upper sketch) onaji (同)², sho (初)³; (to the left of the upper sketch) kō-bukuro ni te mo kōgō ni te mo mei-kō nari (香袋ニテモ香合ニテモ名香也)⁴, shita ha mizusashi (下ハ水指)⁵; (to the right of the lower sketch) onaji (同), go (後)⁶; (to the left of the lower sketch) chaire (茶入)⁷, mizusashi (水指), futaoki mo oki-koto ari (蓋置モ置事アリ)⁸.]
_________________________
¹Prior to the Edo period, there was usually* only one sumi-temae during any given chakai, and this took place immediately after the guests entered the tearoom for the shoza (irrespective of whether the host was using the furo or the ro).
The so-called go sumi-temae [後炭手前] (which takes place between the koicha-temae and the service of usucha -- in its own temae) became necessary once the focus of the chanoyu shifted from the appreciation of the tea, to the utensils. ___________ *The only possible exception was when things would be prolonged beyond the end of the service of tea -- such as when incense would be appreciated afterward -- since it was wrong for the kama to fall silent while the guests were still in the room during the goza.
That said, it is not really clear that the host would actually perform a second sumi-temae in front of the guests, even on such an occasion. More likely, the host would attend to the fire while the guests took a short recess between the end of the service of tea and the beginning of the mon-kō [聞香].
²Onaji [同].
“The same.” Both of the sketches on this page also depict the chū-ō-joku.
As was mentioned in the previous post, these sketches appear to document the earliest form of Jōō‘s cha-kai [茶會], from the years when he was first attempting to distinguish it from the Shino family’s kō-kai [香會].
Because the majority of his early guests seem to have been people with whom he became acquainted at the kō-kai, the appreciation of incense still formed an important part of this version of the tea gathering. Here, in what seems to have been the second stage in the early evolution of the cha-kai, Jōō has integrated the appreciation of incense with the sumi-temae: the tadon [炭團] was put into the ro along with the rest of the charcoal, and then extracted when it was lit, and inserted into the kōro. In this case, the appreciation of incense either took the place of the kaiseki entirely, or necessitated a very truncated meal service. This elimination of anything reminiscent of a banquet, in turn, would have appealed to Jōō‘s evolving inclination toward wabi.
³Sho [初].
The upper sketch shows how the tana is arranged at the beginning of the shoza.
⁴Kō-bukuro ni te mo kōgō ni te mo mei-kō nari [香袋ニテモ香合ニテモ名香也].
“Whether contained in a kō-bukuro, or in a kōgō, this is mei-kō.”
The term kō-bukuro [香袋] refers to a small, shifuku-like pouch, tied with a naga-o, that is usually known as a Shino-bukuro [志野袋] today (an example of which is shown above). While modern-day versions are quite small*, in the past they could be much larger -- indeed, as large as necessary to hold the kō-zutsumi [香包み]† (below) in which the pieces of incense were kept‡. The largest shown measures 6-sun by 3-sun 5-bu, and dates from the middle Edo period; the small fabric-covered kō-zutsumi on the right measure 1-sun 3-bu by 6.5-bu (and is small enough to be placed inside the jū-kōgō [重香合] that are used by many of the modern tea schools on their preferred kō-bon [香盆]**).
As mentioned in the previous post, the term mei-kō [名香] refers to a sort of meibutsu variety of kyara incense. This could either be a recently discovered variety (new pieces of kyara were being imported each year from South-east Asia, and generally the entire piece -- which could be as large as a log -- was sold intact), one that had earned the praises of the incense community, or one of the varieties that had been owned and treasured by someone like Ashikaga Yoshimasa.
Above is shown the kyara known as Momiji no gyo-ga [紅葉の御賀] (the name was usually shortened to Momiji no ga [紅葉賀]††, as in the case of the sketch of the kō-zutsumi on the right) and a drawing of a ko-zutsumi in which small pieces of this incense would be placed in a kō-bukuro (Shino-bukuro) or kōgō. This variety of kyara is one that was cherished by the Yoshimasa -- who wrote its name on the name-label (of gold plate) that was affixed (with lacquer) to the piece of wood itself. ___________ *They are usually made from the scraps left over after a piece of meibutsu-gire has been used to make a shifuku for a chaire.
†While modern examples are extremely small (about 4 cm x 2 cm), and made from scraps of meibutsu-gire [名物裂] (usually donsu [緞子], because that was the thinnest variety of classical cloth) backed by gilt paper, in the early days the kō-tsutsumi were often made entirely of paper -- frequently several pieces of elegant (and usually imported, and so very costly) paper, oriented back to back, and folded together elaborately so that both would be revealed in the folds (reminiscent of the multi-layered effect of the jū-ni hitoe [十二單], the classical court kimono).
When made of paper, the name of the incense it contains was usually written on the outermost flap, something that was important since the kō-zutsumi always contained more than one piece of incense, and the labeling could help prevent confusion later since many of the most precious varieties of kyara only reveal their identities when heated. (Modern-made cloth-covered examples make no provision for this, probably because they are usually reused for different kinds of incense, as each occasion demands -- apparently without any concern over the kind of cross-contamination that the ancients would have lost sleep over.)
‡Since these kō-zutsumi were often handed down from previous owners (and might featured the name of the incense written by one of the famous practitioners of incense of the past), the size could vary greatly. Consequently, the kō-bukuro was specially sewn to match the kō-tsutsumi that would be put into it.
**Unfortunately, the surviving incense schools found themselves in dire straits at the beginning of the 20th century, and they were able to continue into the present only owing to a major influx of money from certain large tea schools -- on the stipulation that the incense school modify certain of their practices (such as wearing and folding a fukusa, and the preparation of the kōro) to conform with the teachings of those tea schools. As a result, there often appears to be a greater similarity between the modern institutions than there originally was (as they continued to grow apart over the course of the Edo period).
The same thing occurred with the Enkaku-ji in Fukuoka, according to what was told to me by Kanshū oshō-sama, in an attempt to make their practices appear much more similar to what a certain tea school advocates, than they originally were (another attempt to commandeer the Nampō Roku to support that school’s own agenda).
††The name derives from one of the chapters (usually Chapter 7 in the modern versions) of the Genji Monogatari [源氏物語]. This chapter deals with Genji’s life between Autumn of the year when he is 18, and the Autumn of the next year.
⁵Shita ha mizusashi [下ハ水指].
“Below [is] the mizusashi.”
In this case, the tana is placed on the utensil mat from the start, and incense will be appreciated during the shoza (probably immediately after the sumi-temae*).
The service of tea, alone, will occupy the gathering during the goza. ___________ *Which would necessitate a somewhat truncated kaiseki -- depending on the size of the kama.
Jōō‘s kama from this period are often extremely large -- holding up to 15 mizuya-bishaku of water, and taking close to an hour and a half to boil (in contrast, Rikyū’s ro-gama usually held around 9 mizuya-bishaku of water; the average furo-gama holds around 6; the kiri-gama, which was one of Jōō’s earliest ro-gama -- from the time when incense was given at the end of the gathering -- holds 4; and the small unryū-gama holds just 3, and takes about 15 minutes to come to a boil starting from cold water).
In Jōō‘s and Rikyū’s period, all kama were filled to a point just below the kan-tsuki, regardless of the season. This protects the point of attachment of the handles, since it was felt that water could eventually cause the iron to weaken.
⁶Go [後].
The lower sketch shows how the tana is decorated for the goza of the same chakai.
⁷Chaire [茶入].
The chaire is displayed on the ten-ita at the beginning of the goza.
As mentioned in the previous post, the chū-ō-joku demands that the host limit his tori-awase to utensils of a certain level of quality. Thus, the chaire should be one worthy of mine-suri [峰摺り] placement -- or something very close to that.
⁸Futaoki mo oki-koto ari [蓋置モ置事アリ].
“There is also the case where the futaoki is placed [on the ji-ita, together with the mizusashi].”
The question of whether to display the futaoki on the ji-ita along with the mizusashi or not is concerned both with the size of the chū-ō-joku (whether there is sufficient room for the futaoki), as well as the demands of kane-wari (which is also a matter of what else the host is displaying at the beginning of the goza*).
The futaoki would have to be a meibutsu piece, perhaps one of the shichi-shu futaoki [七種蓋置]†. A take-wa [竹輪] would have been out of place in this kind of setting‡. ___________ *In other words, what he has placed in the tokonoma, as well as on the dashi-fu-zukue and chigai-dana -- if the room has these. Also, there would be the question of the time of day -- whether a total count of han or chō would be desired for the goza.
†We must remember that, prior to the Edo period, most utensils existed as a single example (or at the most two or three similar pieces that could be used interchangeably). The term shichi-shu futaoki -- meaning the hoya [ホヤ], kakure-ka [隠れ家] (gotoku [火卓, 五徳]), mi-kan-jin [三漢人] (mitsu-ningyō [三人形]), mitsuba [三つ葉], i-kan-jin [井看人] (ikkan-jin [一閑人]), sazae [榮螺], and kani [蟹] -- referred to the original seven or so examples, not to inexpensive mass-produced copies.
‡At least according to Jōō’s thoughts at this point in his career.
==============================================
I. The first arrangement.
Here the kō-bukuro has been arranged on the ten-ita of the chū-ō-joku, together with the habōki (the one that will also be used during the sumi-temae). A kōgō containing samples of mei-kō would be handled in the same way*.
The kō-bukuro is arranged as a mine-suri only because it contains mei-kō [名香]. This is the important point, and the reason it has been marked with a red dot.
Whether the habōki rests on a kane or not depends on the other things that are displayed in the room, as well as the demands of kane-wari†. ___________ *The reason why a kō-bukuro might be preferred over a kōgō is because, in the case of a kōgō, circumstances would demand that the host use an especially good (meibutsu) piece -- the chū-ō-joku demands this as a matter of propriety. It might be feared, in such a case, that the kōgō would distract the guests from the incense that it contains.
†In the most basic situation, where the toko holds only the kakemono, and the room only the kama in the ro, the habōki would be displaced from the kane for a gathering held during the daytime.
——————————————–———-—————————————————
II. The second arrangement.
Here a very special meibutsu chaire, arranged as a mine-suri, has been placed on the ten-ita during the naka-dachi, in preparation for the service of koicha* during the goza.
While it is possible that the chaire might be used without a tray, it is also possible that the tray might be too large† to display on the chū-ō-joku -- in which case, the chaire would be displayed as shown, with the chaire-bon brought out at the beginning of the temae.
There is nothing special about the temae, however, -- other than that the host should take special care when handling meibutsu utensils: the chawan is brought out from the katte and placed, temporarily, on the side of the mat while the chaire is lowered to the mat. Then the chawan is placed beside it. And after the hishaku and koboshi are brought out‡, the hishaku would be rested on top of the koboshi (after it is set down on the mat) while the host picks up the futaoki and moves it to its seat beside the ro. Then the hishaku would be picked up and rested gently on the futaoki**. This would be followed by the sō-rei, as always.
None of the commentators have anything to add to the kaki-ire [書入] -- on either sketch. ___________ *While it might be possible to serve usucha using the tea remaining in the chaire, the setting would make using a different variety of tea for usucha appropriate.
Using the tea remaining in the chaire was a wabi innovation introduced by Rikyū. At the time when this densho was set down, Jōō always served usucha during a separate temae.
†The chaire-bon, at the time when this densho was written, was quite large -- 3-sun larger than the chaire on all four sides. Thus, for a large katatsuki (which was the preferred chaire during this period -- such chaire measured around 2-sun 5-bu in diameter, though possibly up to 2-sun 8-bu), the tray could be up to 8-sun 8-bu square, which would be incongruous on this kind of tana.
Given the antecedents of the chū-ō-joku, it would have been exceptional for the chaire to be used without a tray (only chaire of a very high quality were usually paired with a tray -- and only when a tray could be found that matched their dimensions, which, in this period meant that the tray was exactly 6-sun larger than the diameter of the chaire; and yet it is precisely chaire of this sort that would be preferred for this temae).
‡According to Rikyū, if the koboshi is a mentsū, then the hishaku rests on the mentsū while it is carried out from the katte.
If the koboshi is any other kind of vessel, the hishaku is carried in the right hand, at mid-chest height, and with the cup facing upward and the handle parallel to the floor. The koboshi, meanwhile, is held in the left hand, in front of the body, and below the hishaku. The hishaku must not rest on any koboshi, when it is being carried, other than the mentsū (which is always brand new).
Even though the emphasis is on special utensils when the chū-ō-joku is being used, the mentsū is still appropriate -- because of its purity.
**Even in an ordinary situation, the hishaku should never be struck against the futaoki with an audible clack. This was a machi-shū practice popularized by Sōtan that was a clear violation not only Rikyū’s teachings, but also of Jōō’s.
According to Rikyū, striking the hishaku against the futaoki can cause the handle to become loose, which will result in dripping when water is moved from the mizusashi or kama. Furthermore, hitting a precious futaoki with sufficient force to produce an audible sound can damage it, which would be reprehensible.

For The ShinoFu kids what names did you give them ?
For the first born, her name is Honoka.
They picked it for the meaning—treasure, wealth, precious thing—as somewhat of a tease (affectionate), somewhat in honor of her dad, Kakuzu. Because despite his flaws and love of money, they just KNOW he’s going to see this little girl as the most precious little treasure ever. He went a little soft with Fū, yeah, but grandpa Kakuzu will only get worse—this awful man will be SO weak to their big ol’ buggy eyes.
(For context, if you look at most of my Fū art and I think all of my Fū writing, you’ll see I really love to headcanon Kakuzu becoming a begrudging father figure to her.)
Their second bun in the oven is a little boy, and his name is Matsu. This one leans into his Aburame roots because it translates to ‘pine’ (which is a tree that notoriously attracts bugs) bugs LOVE pine trees 👏
#asks#thanks for the ask!#Aburame babies#buggum babes#don’t even get me started on how goddamn adorable of a grandpawpaw Kakuzu would make#shino x fu#ShinoFu#Fu of Takigakure#Shino Aburame
