Often called Shimokita-Kei, this is a Japanese-based genre that takes influence from Post-Hardcore, Pop Punk, and even Noise Pop and Power Pop.

Gaining traction in the 90s/2000s, this genre continues to gain popularity over time, even gaining a foreign audience.

In the late 2000s/early 2010s, Shimokita-Kei became popular among people apart of the emo subculture, specifically in the US and Canada.

The mainstream interest seemed to have died down, but there is still a large base of fans today as it continues to dominate the indie scene.

The movie night

It was quite unusual for Morrie to invite someone over to watch a movie together. Especially when hardly anyone was allowed to get to know where did he exactly live in Tokyo. Haku could have been considered lucky, with that and the fact that Morrie’s girlfriend was visiting a friend that evening, too, so Morrie had the house all to himself. They could only sit in the living room, but the old man of course cleaned the entire place. And prepared some snacks, not approving of those that were available in konbini.

But first, just like he promised, he went to pick up his guest. Riding the shiny black Dodge Challenger 1973, he surely was drawing attention to himself. Though this car was one of the very few things that Morrie liked to show off. Arriving at the spot - in Shimokitazawa in Tokyo, not in Shimokita in Akita prefecture - it wasn’t that difficult to spot Haku. His appearance was... peculiar, as for a visual kei musician. 

Morrie rolled down the window in his car and grinned at the bassist. “Hey! Jump in.”

土曜日は馬浪マラカス団『夏のワンマンライブ〜Let’s shimokita ondo again〜』@下北沢RHAPSODY。ご一緒した皆々様ありがとうございました(*^^*)

2ステージ。アンコール含めて全17曲。

「シモキタ音頭」と「炭坑節」では皆さんに盆踊っていただき(！)お送りしました。

［自分達の演奏で踊ってくれる］というのはまた一つ別趣の悦び。ありがとうございます✨

この日はラプソディーのマスターのご厚意で浴衣でご来場に方にはドリンクのサービス。

浴衣で来てくださる方や、浴衣着とはいかないまでも、髪飾りや小物を和物で合わせて来てくださる方などいらっしゃいました。

バンド側の衣装も浴衣だったので(男性陣は1部と2部でお色直し有り)、会場内は日本の夏！なちゅ。

大変良い感じでございました(感謝)。

“夏のイベント”をプレゼンしてくれた馬浪マラカス団。

ワンマン時に限らず、

その場にいる人が、もう一歩内側に入ってライブを楽しむような仕掛けをしてくれます。この能動“一歩”の��致具合が巧妙でございます(！)

ワンマンということで、馬浪の名曲揃いにして緩急自在なセットリストをたっぷりと楽しんでいただけたのではないでしょうか。

今回セットリストに入らなかった代表曲もまだまだあるから、、底力恐るべしです。
