Hell yeah Fruits Basket shipping pals!

Oh boy I haven't talked about Shigure on this blog yet, so I'm going to ramble 😂

Okay, so my s/i for the series has known the Honda family for a good chunk of years before the series starts. Tohru refers to her as her cousin, even though they're not actually related but they're somewhat close in age (s/i is twenty at the start of the series). She was in the biker gang with Kyoko, but left sometime after she did. She works as a writer just like Shigure, though their genres are different.

They first meet when she comes back to Japan from living over seas for a year. She'd wanted to come back earlier in order to be there for Tohru after what happened to Kyoko, but various commitments prevented that and Tohru being Tohru insisted she stay. When she learns that Tohru has been staying with a strange family, she insists on coming over to check things out. The very first hello basically consisted of her shaking Shigure's hand and nearly breaking every bone in it as she said, with a very sweet smile on her face, that she very much hopes they've been good to her Tohru. She can be very scary when she wants to be while still having a flowery aura, a remnant of her biker days.

After that, she comes by the house on a fairly regular basis to check on Tohru, and that's how they really actually get to know each other. She eventually apologizes for being so harsh that first time, she just cares deeply about Tohru. Though when she does suspect he's using Tohru for something, she becomes suspicious of him, and that adds to the sort of will they won't they thing they get going on. There's a lot of almost moments, like one time when it starts to become clear something more is developing between them but neither one is sure what it is, he kisses her forehead after they've been talking and that just makes her Confused.

Shigure does still like Akito at first and is still primarily doing what he does for her, but then his affections start to change as my s/i opens up and reveals her of course tragic backstory to him (because everyone in this dang show has a tragic backstory) and she shows that she cares for him and understands him in some ways. Eventually, she becomes part of the reason he wants to break the curse so bad.

Speaking of the curse, she does find out about it. One day they're talking and end up having a bit of an argument about what their relationship is, because it'll seem like there's something there and then he'll have more walls, and look she has her own walls but they can't keep going on like that. She's about to leave and, okay I'm not sure which I like better, but either she slips as she's leaving and he catches her or he purposefully hugs her in a damn the consequences sort of move.

She's not privy to everything right away, but after that they come to a sort of understanding.
