BUT the MOST interesting "blast from the past" like for me was this one from none other than Sam's ex from 2014, Cody Kennedy. Sam posted pics 10 years apart--2014 when Outlander started and 2024 when it ended. And guess who liked it? Yep, Ms. Cody Kennedy. 👇

But do you know WHY she liked it? Because it reminded her of when she and Sam dated in 2014 and toured the backlots of Sony and Universal Studios.

Let's do a walk through memory lane...

On October 24, 2014 Cody Kennedy posted on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook, showing that she'd been to the Back To The Future exhibit. And Sam Heughan liked her pics, commented on her pics, and she mentioned HE TOOK her pic. 👇

Here she mentions on her Twitter account the Back To The Future 88mph reference. And Sam leaves a comment on her Instagram calling her "88.8mph girl." 👇 I'm waxing nostalgic for the innocent times of yesteryear, when Sam would actually leave comments on his date's accounts. 🥹

Here he is liking her Instagram pic. 👇 And, below that, is Cody on her Facebook, directly mentioning that Sam Heughan took the pic! I'm getting all misty eyed just thinking about it, hahaha. 😊

And we'll, lookie, lookie, WHO else had to pop in and remind us she was also part of Sam's 2014 memories...none other than Sam's long time friend, ex costar and ex FWB, Ms. Amy Shiels. 🤗🙃👇

PS. For those who weren't around back then, the Barbie Wars is a term I coined to refer to the few weeks in late 2014 when Amy Shiels and Cody Kennedy aka Barbie 1 and Barbie 2, engaged in a public social media catfight over one fine, Mr. Sam Heughan. I wrote an 11 part series giving all the details with screenshots to prove it. Just search my blog or Google #barbiewars or #thebarbiewars and you can read all the drama from back then.

Anyhoo, everyone has moved on, and this is abundantly clear since Amy AND Cody are still cool with Sam, and continue to like his posts. Like I always say, that Samshine was born under a lucky star, and no one can resist that golden, delicious, Scottish charm. No one. Facts. 🤷‍♀️❤️

Ohh it's this sort of ambitious fic I've been working on for too long lol. Set in the future where Nile leads the team, but the year and location are undisclosed. The whole thing is supposed to be very dreamy and strange. It splits POV between Joe and Nicky following a particularly fucked up death (cartel, acid barrel), where they start to realize that they might not have come back... normal.

In a surprise to no one, I was very inspired by the Cronenbergs' movies (OG David's and his son's), mostly Crimes of the Future, Crash, and Infinity Pool. So there's body horror ofc, but also some psychological horror while simultaneously being very erotic. To me, body horror has to include the psychological element to be really effective, especially if you're blending it with romance (probably the reason it's taking me so long to write is because romance and erotica aren't my writing strongsuits). It's also a bit of a black comedy.

Other inspiration for the fic came from one of my favourite @kushielsmercy fics (though it's hard to pick a favourite because they are so fucking talented), Cabinet of Nonperishable Curiosities. It's a beautiful fic exploring Joe and Nicky's interwoven lives. Shiel says it best in the description: "What it really means to be half of a whole." Stayed with me for a long time after reading, and really made me think about what loving someone for a thousand years would do to each other's personalities, thoughts, memories. So ofc the gothic horror part of my brain activated.

I might need a full day to just lock in and write it, but you have definitely made me want to reopen my document!

I'm back from a two week trip with two of my friends 😊❤️ It was very nice and laid-back, the weather was so much better than we anticipated, and of course we saw lots of beautiful sights.

We also saw many lochs, like Loch Shiel here:

Isle of Skye was great too, Portree for example was a nice town to visit (I am a sucker for colourful houses):

We went on an awesome boat tour, where we saw porpoises, seals, magnificent white-tailed eagles and dolphins (left).

Our hike to the Bone Caves in Ullapool (right and below) was also a highlight for me:

To sum it up: Scotland was as rugged and beautiful as I remembered, with the added beauty of all the fall colours! 😍🍂
