SK: You're crazy. You said you felt nothing when we were filming. 👀
FM: I really didn't feel that, not at all, not until I watched the movie.👀👀
Excerpts from the Silent Parade dvd commentary
Or: Masaharu Fukuyama being absolutely outrageous + completely not in the loop Ko Shibasaki
1. FM: Yukaoru's relationship is like they're in love, but also like they're not in love. What a pity we don't have a definite answer. Well, I write KOH+ songs imagining Kaoru's in love with Yukawa, for example, KISS and Magic of Love. I write them in Kaoru's pov, imaging her in love with Yukawa, and what she would do. While the series doesn't focus on this will-they-won't-they relationship, I write songs based on Kaoru in love and I keep on hinting about it. Haven't you felt anything while singing? SK: No FM: … FM: Alright, that's still great. SK: I thought it was about Yukawa. FM: No, it's only Kaoru.
2. (On the scene where Yukaoru were quarreling at the restaurant and Kaoru tells Yukawa to stop) FM: Kaoru looks really hot telling Yukawa that's enough. Her hands, fingertips, her chin look so sexy. SK: You're crazy. You said you felt nothing when we were filming. FM: I really didn't feel that, not at all, not until I watched the movie.
(On that part where Kaoru looks at Yukawa chasing bubbles with the children) FM: That is the beauty of the Heisei era, a smile that will not fade for a hundred years SK: ☺
Now with Kitamura Kazuki and Director Nishitani! 4. KK: I have tried to imagine what would happen if Yukawa and Utsumi lived together. FM: You see!!! SK: ??? KK: Not because they're dating or because of a case, but for some other reason… FM --> SK: You just don't want to live with me! FM: Impossible SK: Impossible KK: they just have to stay together. SK: Then they realise suprisingly they quite match each other. N: Then Kusanagi discovers their relationship. FM: Ooooooh here comes the director N: He gets a little jealous, but he's not sure if he's jealous of Kaoru or Yukawa, or that the two of them are in a relationship, and through that he discovers his own feelings. SK: So Yukawa x Kusanagi??!! Yay! FM: Let's stop talking about romance for a while.

Suspect X
Tumblr media
Suspect X    [trailer]
A murder has occurred and the police are unable to find loopholes in the alibi of the main suspect, thus creating obstacles in the investigation.
The solution itself is interesting. But I didn't find it entirely convincing that he's capable of doing that. It also started out with putting some emphasis on being a battle of the supersmarts, but got increasingly melodramatic.
The constant sexist talk and behaviour at the beginning was annoying and pointless. Thankfully, it stops during the second half.
Tetsuya asking Manabu how he manages to look so young is a valid question.

This is a new single that features the 3 leading boys of Class 3-2 of Sakuragaoka High School and the 2 brothers, Aizou (part of the idol unit LIP×LIP) and Ken.

My interpretation of the end of Chakushin Ari (One Missed Call).
The day before yesterday I saw this j-horror classic and I'm still amazed at how much I liked it. It's a very cliché movie and seems to be more of a suspense than a horror (as this genre sometimes is). But the idea itself seems very well done to me; as well as the deaths and some scenes of terror mimicked with the environment. What makes it, for me, a recommended film (especially for those who want to start watching horror).
Tumblr media
However, the ending left me very baffled. It is obvious that it is subject to the interpretation of each one, but I would like to try to give my opinion on the matter.
THERE WILL BE SPOILERS! SO IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE MOVIE OR ITS ENDING, I RECOMMEND YOU NOT TO DO IT.
Explanation of the ending:
At the end of the film, we see that Yumi Nakamura (played by the great Ko Shibasaki), the protagonist, is possessed by the malevolent ghost of Mimiko Mizunuma and forced to stab her partner and love interest: detective Hiroshi Yamashita. She promises to take him to the hospital like she did with her little sister.
Completely unconscious, Yamashita dreams that he helps Mimiko at the time of her death.
Then, we see Yamashita waking up in the hospital room. His wound is healed and Yumi, still possessed, is in a corner. She approaches him, armed with the knife, and kisses him, only to give him the red candy that she has been appearing throughout the film (and that Mimiko gave her sister Nanako as an incentive not to talk about it mistreatment). Yamashita chews it up and swallows it, causing Yumi/Mimiko to smile before rolling into the credits with a picture of a beautiful blue sky and a pop love song.
My first interpretation of the ending:
When I first thought about the ending of Chakushin Ari, my first interpretation was quite bittersweet. Especially considering the ghostly appearance of Yamashita's sister (who had succumbed to the curse long ago) in the abandoned hospital, who told him that "every person has their own heaven" (or at least, that's what was said in the Catalan translation). Following these directions a bit (without taking into account other clues that later became more obvious to me), the first thing I thought was that Yamashita was killed by Yumi/Mimiko and that, without showing up on screen, Yumi was also killed by the entity (perhaps , forced to commit suicide like her friend Yoko).
Then, the hospital scene appears. Yamashita wakes up in an incredibly light and peaceful room, which made me think that he was dead and had ended up in heaven (or at the gates of heaven) with both ghosts. He eats the candy, fully succumbing to the curse, and Shibasaki's character smiles because by doing so, he has gotten rid of Mimiko and now they can both be together, at least on the other side.
As you can see, it is a somewhat vague interpretation, so let's go to the one that seems to me to be the true ending.
My second interpretation of the ending: The true ending?
To understand the ending of this film, we must take into account some factors: When Mimiko delivers the sweets to her victims, they all spit them out. Yamashita, on the other hand, is the first victim to devour him and make her smile.
Yamashita's sister's phrase that I have already mentioned: "everyone has their own heaven".
Yamashita's feelings for Yumi.
The abandoned hospital scene, as well as Yumi's childhood and the revelation of what really happened to Nanako Mizunuma.
Now, keeping these points in mind, let's put the puzzle together.
To begin with, I have to say that the hospital scene is very revealing and, at the same time, terribly confusing because of other ghosts. Yes, you heard right: other ghosts. We are in a hospital, after all. In fact, Yumi sees the ghost of a man walking through the corridors that has nothing to do with the rest of the film (I add that it seems to me an incredible detail on the part of the tape), before moving on to the important. There are two appearances in the hospital that stand out above all others: Marie Mizunuma, the mother of Mimiko and Nanako, and Mimiko herself, who we do not know about until the end of the film. Why? you will ask yourself. The fact is that there is a scene in which Yumi, in the abandoned hospital, passes in front of a mirror... And the spectators see how the figure of a woman is glued to her back.
Some people have interpreted that it is just another ghost from the hospital. But in reality, if we analyze it carefully, we see that the spirit itself looks a lot like Mimiko (and the typical Japanese yureis and/or onryos, but that's another matter haha): they have the same hairstyle and the same type of shirt white. And if that were the case, the scene where Yumi and Marie meet would make a lot more sense.
As well as the fact that, a few scenes back, Yumi is cornered by hands handing her jars with fetuses (indicating that Marie was trying to warn Yumi about her own daughter).
In the scene, Marie's corpse resurrects and attacks Yumi as she hallucinates her own abusive mother. Things resolve with Yumi hugging Marie and forgiving her mother (who was clearly mentally ill, to me) in the process, which brings Marie to tears. This would make sense for the character of Marie if the movie had really toed the easy line and everything that was said about Marie was true. However, the reality is that she did not abuse her daughters, but that her oldest daughter abused her youngest. Now, remember, it is that same eldest daughter who is glued to Yumi's back at that moment.
Do you see where I'm going?
My conclusion is that Marie cries because she is hugging her own daughter; she manages to forgive her daughter... and herself for what she did to save Nanako from her clutches. In addition to being able to rest in peace.
What does this mean? THAT YUMI IS (OR BECOMES) A CATALYST FOR MIMIKO TO COMMUNICATE WITH OTHERS. Which makes it more likely that she is possessed towards the end, and not only that, but it makes a lot of sense that Mimiko would keep showing up from behind in later scenes.
However, why doesn't Mimiko forgive her mother and cross with her to the other side if both characters are crying?
To talk about that we have to go back a couple of scenes. In fact, we have to go back to one in particular. In the middle of the investigation, the protagonists separate and we see Yumi walking through the streets of the city while a scene of Nanako, Mimiko's younger sister, in the orphanage is superimposed on the film. Yumi turns around, as if she has noticed something, and finally decides to go to the hospital.
What does the tape want to tell us with this? From my current point of view, Mimiko originally wanted Yumi to be her new Nanako. That, in reality, the only thing Mimiko is looking for is another Nanako, so she gives her victims red candy that none of them eat, allowing the curse to take its course. If there is a real curse to begin with... Since we see that Mimiko changes the rules of this constantly for her benefit (since she ultimately decides to possess Yumi and not kill her like the others). In fact, it is in this ending where this statement makes sense. Do you remember what I said? None of the victims eat the candy. However, Yamashita, in the hospital, DOES, which makes Mimiko smile before showing us that spectacular sky. This directly connects to Yamashita's sister's statement: since Mimiko's personal heaven seems to have another Nanako to torture, and why doesn't Mimiko cross over to the other side in the hospital scene. It is not her true desire.
So in the end, Yamashita becomes Mimiko's Nanako.
However, why does Yamashita agree to this? Like I said, Yamashita has strong feelings towards Yumi. Yumi, at the time, is possessed by Mimiko so she HASN'T ACTUALLY SUCCESSED TO "THE CURSE". Perhaps, accepting this is the most logical thing for him, because not only will no one else die (we see him very angry with the police for letting this continue to happen), but Yumi, whom he loves, will not die either. That is why we see him helping Mimiko: it is not a hallucination or a dream as such, IT IS HIS SACRIFICE. HELPING MIMIKO, IMPLIES HELPING YUMI AT THAT TIME. And we already know that heroes MUST ALWAYS MAKE A SACRIFICE.

Or that's my final interpretation of Chakushin Ari.

‘The Day After: The Promise of the End arc’ event story
This is the continuation of The Day After: Smoke Signal of the Revolution.
Short version: Shields and Noir defeat the Royal Family but find out that their world, Iris, is headed for self-destruction as it is powered by the 7 gems but you destroyed one of them… In order to save the boys, as the Miko of the gems, you use your power to turn back time and you return to the beginning, to the time before you meet Yamato and the rest of Shields. Everything is restarted…
Long version: After rescuing Yamato from the Royal Family and returning to Noir Headquarters, Shields and Noir gear up for a final showdown against the Royals. You’re still feeling rather guilty about destroying one of the gems and feel it’s your fault that the boys have all been dragged into this final battle. The boys notice this and once again reassure you that it isn’t your fault. Yamato then makes a promise with you to have coffee together after all this is over.
Everyone then heads over to the palace. Kirisawa asks you to stay close to him and says how they might need your ability to draw power from the gems. All of you are attacked by a hail of arrows. You see Yuzuki about to get shot! You scream out to him then close your eyes in fear. When you open them again, you see that Satsuki has shielded his younger brother from the arrows with his sword. Then the Kitaoji brothers fight side by side and you are awed by the strength of their brotherly bond~!
As you approach the main gates of the palace, they swing open thanks to Saizo who has sneaked in beforehand. However, once inside the palace you are attacked by a gigantic monster controlled by the Royals. The monster is much too strong for Shields and Noir to defeat. It also lunges for you and Yamato pushes you out of the way and you lose consciousness.
When you come to, you see the palace in ruins and the boys lying around you all heavily injured and dying. You begin to cry, then you remember how you’d used the healing power of the gems before, so you pray to the gems to save the boys and you black out again. This time Yamato wakes you. Seeing him alive and well, you hug him tightly which causes him to blush. Then you realize you’re back at Noir Headquarters and Yamato is very confused when you say you’re glad he’s alive. He asks if you remember your promise you have coffee with him after the impending final battle. That’s when you realize you’ve gone back in time! You immediately rush over to Ren in his lab and ask if he has anything they can use against a gigantic monster. Ren is in charge of monster research. He says he’ll figure something out. Then you hurry to Kirisawa to tell him about the possibility of the Royals having a gigantic monster and find him talking to Saizo. He says they’ll prepare for it, thanks you and gives you an affectionate pet on the head.
Everyone heads off for the battle once more and everything happens like the first time. When the giant monster appears, Ren injects it with a special tranquilizer but the dose isn’t strong enough… So Saizo takes another dose from Ren, leaps onto the monster and injects it again. This time it works! Then you head off for the throne room where Ryoichi has cornered the king. Just before the king dies (?), he says how you’ve gained nothing from destroying the Royal Family as their world, Iris, was created and powered by the 7 gems and now that one is missing, the balance is off and the world is headed towards destruction and there’s nothing you can do about it. Everyone is shocked by this news! Back at Noir Headquarters, an air of despair hangs over everyone. Kirisawa tries to cheer them up by saying how there’s still time to figure out a way to save the world. Then he and Ryoichi tells everyone to go get some rest.
Back in your room, your sense of guilt just gets worse and you keep thinking of how you’d caused all this from destroying that gem. Then you decide to use the gems’ power to turn back time again and return to a time before the gem was destroyed and before you met Yamato and learnt about Shields.
Before you make your wish, you decide to see the boys again one last time and you find them still in the Great Hall. They see that your eyes are all red and ask what’s wrong but you say you just had something in your eyes. Yamato can sense something troubling you and asks you not to burden yourself with all your troubles and to rely on them and tell them what’s wrong. But you just say you’re tired, say goodnight then return to your room and make your wish…
You’ve gone back in time and are back to your old life as a typical OL and can’t remember anything about Yamato and Shields. However, you have been getting this strange sense of deja vu lately… And you seem to keep seeing people who feel familiar… Such as this dark haired man (Ryoichi) you bumped into at the bookshop the other day, or the bodyguard (Subaru) of some politician that was on the news, or the members of this idol group (Revance) you saw in a PV on a large outdoor TV and even these historical figures (Nobunaga & Mitsuhide) you saw in a documentary on TV the other day.
Then one day, you accidentally bump into this man (Yamato) on the street while you’re out shopping. Yamato helps you pick up your shopping and when you look into his face, you can’t help blurting out, ‘Have I seen you somewhere before?’ He’s quite surprised at that then laughs and I think he jokes about that being your pickup line? XD Then he says something like, ‘If you’re really interested in me, meet me here again tomorrow.’ And he points at a cafe across the street that looks very familiar as well…
The next day, you go to the cafe and find Yamato inside chatting with the owner. It kind of feels like he did expect you to show up? He treats you to a cup of coffee which tastes strangely bitter to you. It also stirs the memory of a half-forgotten promise you made and you start crying! This startles Yamato but you assure him that you’re fine and that you’re just crying coz the coffee is really delicious! Yamato buys that, then he confesses that the moment he saw you, he felt the need to buy you a coffee like he’d made that promise to you before. Anyway, you get reacquainted and the gears of destiny begin to turn once more…
