I've put together a series of pathfinder's goddesses in a post because I feel like it's the right time, both in terms of time and mood? I don't know about you, but I'm lucky to have a friend who brings a lot of different lore about the gods to the chats I'm in (yes, @murthingsblog?) and now we're all very inspired by pathfinder lore more than usual because of the new books coming out from Paizo...

So, What I expected from Zon-Shelyn: A distorted concept of art, a broken and corrupted goddess of love, a disgusting and painful fusion with Zon-Kuthon...

What I got:

DAMN IT YES!

Zon-Kuthon has finally taken up art therapy.

So, Paizo announces that there will be a huge event in Golarion spanning several realms, from where a fucking core deity will not get out alive, and at the same time, that Shelyn, the goddess of art, who has dissapeared in the Starfinder timeline, will be returning as Zon-Shelyn and going full goth, AND I'M SUPPOSED TO CONTINUING MINDING MY OWN BUSINESS AS IF THOSE ARE NOT THE MOST IMPORTANT BITS OF LORE THAT THEY'VE ADDED TO THE SETTING IN THE LAST YEARS.

My autistic ass needs to know MORE, I NEED DETAILS, ALL OF THEM.

Worst part of it is that my swashbuckler/devoted muse half-elf from Korvosa started as an abandoned child who found hope and comfort in the Shelyn church, only to have that ripped from her through all the traumatic events she has lived under the rule of Queen Ileosa. In fact, she started as a paladin, but the corrupted city made her abandon law and pursue a path of almost vengeance against the people who hurt her friends, art, the city. She learned to dance and sing to cope with the pain during her infancy, then she used it to share hope and beauty with the people of the city... and now, she uses it to ease the darkness that's grown inside of her, after seeing the worst that people can get and do. I feel that if she survives the Curse of the Crimson Throne and lives long enough, she would be next to Zon-Shelyn, channeling the pain and darkest emotions into the most beautiful art.

I felt the itch to draw again recently so I busted out my over a decade old Wacom Tablet and downloaded Krita. I wanted to draw my Pathfinder character so I created a “nude” version in Hero Forge and posed him like a doll so I could trace it because I am nowhere ready to draw bodies from scratch yet lol.

This is Nazaad, an Orc Warpriest (Cleric) of Shelyn, the goddess of art, beauty, love, and music. He used to be a high cleric of her half-brother Zon-Kuthon, god of pain, darkness, envy, and loss.

He died in service to Zon-Kuthon, but Shelyn resurrected him to ask him a question. How could her brother be redeemed? She searched through his memories and as she did, Nazaad felt her peace and the divine depth of sorrow and love for her brother that overwhelmed him and quelled his rage. In that moment he wanted to help her in her goal and pledged himself to Shelyn (my ultimate dream for this character would be that he could actually help her succeed).

The way he practices his faith might be considered borderline heretical to some Shelynites. He still uses pain in his worship through tattoo artistry. He finds peace in the sting of the needle and beauty in the things most would consider grotesque.

If asked, he would show no remorse or regret for his former life. He was a faithful and devoted servant to his god whom he loved in his own way. He is just as devoted to Shelyn and the only way one would know about his former life are the marks carved onto his body (and if you asked him lol).

His favorite holiday is Crystalhue and he always makes the Zonzon doll with love and disturbing accuracy.

A prayer to Shelyn I made but didn't end up using for my last chapter:

Goddess of beauty, love, and art, In this moment of grief, I seek your welcoming heart. The world has lost many to untimely fate, Leaving loved ones behind to mourn and wait. Their souls now journey towards the unknown, Leaving behind memories, laughter, and love shown. But as they rest in the afterlife's embrace, Their families and friends are left in a dark and desolate place. Shelyn, I beseech you to hear my plea, Grant peace to the departed, and to us, mercy. Let this woman find solace in eternal slumber, Away from pain, sorrow, and any encumbrance. May her spirit find their way back home, To a place of tranquil, where they can roam. Guide them towards the light, away from the dark, And bring them to their final resting park. May your divine presence soothe our hearts, As we bid farewell to our her unbeating heart. And may your love and grace bring us relief, As we hold on to the memories of those we grief.

Gods I love the prismatic ray so much

Like paizo didn't just make a polyamorous lesbian power thruple, but they made it up of 3 of the strongest and most important goddesses in the setting to insure that no one can ignore them

What about Zon-Bral AU guys

I have a point.

Godsrein Prophecies showed us WHAT would happen if Shelyn were to one day redeem Zon-Kuthon. Spoiler: it wouldn't be good, because Dou-Bral would be horrified by what he'd done, and Shelyn would ruin the whole experience.

Starfinder, on the other hand, shows us that REALLY can redeem Zon-Kuthon. The threat to Shelyn's life. He was willing to sacrifice himself and give his powers to his sister without a second thought.

So an AU where Shelyn is also in danger, maybe from one of the Outer Gods. An AU where Zon-Kuthon - or rather Dou-Bral - regains control over himself to protect her.

An AU where after a hard fight he lies on her lap. And when her gentle palm touches his cheek, he covers it with his palm. For the first time in thousands of years without trying to hurt.

It wouldn't be easy, because Dou-Bral was still the Prince of Pain for thousands of years. He can never leave this past behind - one way or another, it is now a part of him. But he would be able to accept his sister's hand. And they would begin the long journey to healing. Together. Like... Family

And Zon-Bral - no longer the broken Zon-Kuthon, but not the former Dou-Bral - will meet his first dawn in Nirvana.

For the first time in thousands of years.
