Today’s Topic: Exploring the Metaphor of “Trust Accounts” in Animal Training The metaphor of a “trust account” has been heavily promoted in animal training. But what do we really know about this metaphor? Where did it come from? Has it been empirically tested? What is the behavioral explanation for when it seems to “work” and when it doesn’t work? Join us for an extra deep dive on this hot topic in animal training. Join me live most every Monday at 11:00 AM Central time for another YOU be the Behavior Consultant. I loooove sessions like these. It started with a big “no way!” to having our sheep standing there calmly for nice intervals while the collar was almost closed completely. If you watch closely there are a lot of details that do matter. The sheep is not just being distracted with food. We very much want her to be aware of the collar. She can leave anytime she chooses. And you will also notice we made (a wise) decision to not clip the collar on during this session. We need it to be easy to snap on and off for our next steps. Our plan is to loosen it up for the next session so that the next approximation will go as smoothly as the ones we saw here. Nice work by the team at Orange County Zoo. #sheeptraining #collartraining #harnesstraining #haltertraining #trainingdomesticanimals #childrenszoo #trainingfarmanimals #trainingbarnyardanimals Get more details on practical application skills at www.AnimalTrainingFundamentals.com (at Orange County Zoo) https://www.instagram.com/p/B5npUloFS1N/?igshid=1900tm6a10iib
