I don't know if you've done this before, but I would love to read a fic where Regina's meant to be Emma's maid of honour, but she doesn't show up, until she bursts into Emma's wedding full on 'sorry, I'm late' and declares her love (please don't do that thing where they get married instead)
Iâve definetely done something like that beforexd Either way thanks for the prompt; I hope you like my take on it (And donâtworry, I wasnât planning on writing that đ)
PS: For describing purposes Iâll be settingthis as if the actual wedding was at the town hall instead of where it was.(Just so Regina has a real door she can burst in)
A03 Version
The continuous humming of sobs and whisperedcompliments were the first thing Emma heard falling silent as she licked herlips and tried to answer for a second time to Archieâs question withoutstumbling on the two small -apparent not so simple- words. Hookâs growl ofanger was, however, what broke the debilitating sensation on her neck and limbsas she, finally, glanced up from their conjoined hands in where rings couldalready be seen.
The town hall had been beautifully decorated inall sorts of whites; whites that Emma had already forgotten its correctdenomination. It was, perhaps because of that, that Regina standing in themiddle of the already open doors with a blue dress that didnât look in the slightestlike the soft pink Snow had picked for the bridesmaids, stood in sight as shesquared her shoulders and smirked, almost sadly, to the almost newlyweds.
âSorry, Iâm late.â
People gasped and Emma could feel Hook alreadygrowling again as several of the fairies clawed at their dresses, searching fortheir wands. It could have been a comic sight if it wasnât because of the brokenglance Henry -seated front and center- directed not only at his brunette motherbut to Emma as well as the blonde saw how Regina walked down the middle of theaisle, not once looking at anybody but Emma, with the skin-tight blue dressEmma could remember already having seen on her and dark circles behind hereyes.
Last time she had seen a similar image the twoof them had been on the wish realm; protected by the fact that nothing wasreal. Now, however, as she saw her father turn and narrow his eyes at Reginawhile Snow placed a placating hand on his shoulder, the uncomfortablesimilarity of both ceremonies was enough to render her speechless.
Finally stopping three steps away from the couple,Regina tilted her head to her right, visibly nibbling her bottom lip beforeHook threw himself at her, only stopped by Emmaâs sudden grip on his suitâsfabric. Â Turning like a rabid dog, theman shrugged out Emmaâs clasp as the blonde kept on staring at Regina, half ofher wishing for the whole ordeal to just be a miscommunication and for thebrunette to be about to sit or stand beside her. Just like she had asked her todo half a month ago.
âWhat are you doinghere?â
The brunetteâs eyes, however, spoke in the samevolume they had done that night in where Emma had knocked on her door with herhands already trembling and just too much pressure on her shoulders. Regina hadlet her enter and had led her to the study only to lean on the closing door ofthe room as Emma explained herself in shushed vocals and strained consonants.
âThatâs what you want?â Regina had asked andEmma had felt the same debilitating sensation that had accompanied her thatvery same day as she had put on dress with the striking recognition that EmmaSwan would disappear that very same afternoon. Back at that night those weeksago, however, she had swallowed and glanced at the older woman with a pleadingglint on her eyes, fingers fiddling with the ring, the ring that felt cold andtacky and far too similar to a death sentence than an actual source of joy.
âReginaâŚâ
The brunette had glanced at her feet beforeturning her hands into fists, a fast, curt nod shaking her head as she hadfinished with one last nail to what Emma felt to be a coffin, a tomb. One shewas walking into for reasons she felt far too difficult to truly put into words.
âIf thatâs what you wishâŚâ
But Regina hadnât appeared, hadnât said a word, not even when Emma had tried to call her, staring at Zelena and admitting theuncomfortable truth that ever since she had asked her to be her maid of honorRegina had barely spoken to her only to be met with the redheadâs growl. Yet,there she was, dressed in blue and gorgeous enough for Emma to dig her nails onthe palms of her hands as she kept on staring at her, unable, unwilling, tolook at anywhere else but her.
âEmma?â
Sucking on her breath the blonde blinked andswallowed, Hookâs fingers being now the ones that dig painfully on her forearmas the two of them kept on staring at the brunette. Brunette whose eyes shonepurple as she took a small step towards her while the citizens of Storybrookecollectively shared a gasp.
âI need to talk to you.â
Reginaâs voice sounded broken, dejected enoughfor Emma to close her eyes for longer than a second, her mind bringing her backto that other night once again when she had been handled an opportunity she hadbeen ready to destroy.
âThen you should have come before.â
Hookâs venomous words broke the spell, however, and Emma separated herself from him, unwilling to look at him as Regina kept onlooking at her. She didnât need to really explain more, Emma realized. Therehad been one reason only for Emma to go alone to tell Regina that she wantedher as her maid, the same reason of why she had known that the former queen hadhesitated before asking, yet again if that was what she wanted. The same reasonwhy she had known that very morning why Regina hadnât appeared or why Henry hadkept on glancing at his phone while shooting at her warning looks.
Looks Emma had feigned not to see while feelingenough of a coward to want to cry.
How, when, she had decided to say yes despitethe screams her mind kept on sending from the back of her mind. When had shedecided to step out her own persona and wear the one everyone thought would bebest for her? When had she decided to be a copy of a woman she truly wasnât orfelt?
Outside her doubts, Regina kept eyeing her, themagic on her eyes slowly dying out as the tension escalated and Hook pushed herto say those two pesky little words.
âI giveher a choice!â Reginaâs scream was what broke Emmaâs prison, the brunetteâsposture changing from pleading to angry as she stood in front of the city; backstraight as a rod. âI donât cash on past assistances only so she feels forcedto see me in a new light!â
This time it was Henry who stood next to hisbrunette mother as Hook took the final two steps towards Regina, black omenwritten on his eyes.
âShe saved your life your majesty, donât youhave enough?â His words were whispered but were loud enough, aggressive enough, for Emma to feel them scalding her own skin as she, for the first time, foughtagainst the haze her former actions had descended upon her eyes.
âI saved her life.â
Everyone, fairies, her parents, Zelena herself, turned from Regina and Hook to her as she glanced down; not at her hands but atthe dress. A dress that felt constrictive, oppressive.
âI saved her life.â She tasted the words andshed a smile, glancing at Regina as she did so. âI did that for her, not foranyone else.â
âLoveâŚâ
His wordswere suddenly unbearable in the same way she felt like screaming and so sheapproached Regina and said the words she had dreamt on admitting ever since shehad glanced at the older woman at the town line and just about to be given ahappy ending that didnât felt like it was one but only a poor reflection foranother one. One she had seen so clearly that had robbed her the faculty ofspeak until it had been far too late.
âIâm inlove with you.â
The answerof who she was, she thought as Regina repeated the words back at her, notpaying any mind to Hookâs own scream and insults, didnât lay there, in a dressand promises that werenât hers to say. And as much as she didnât know where ithid anymore, that part of her, she preferred the idea of giving that to the womanin front of her, to the woman who saw her and who she was able to see as wellwithout a title and words of a past long gone and written on moth-eaten pagesthat werenât theirs to read after all. After all, she thought as she let thehealing feeling of their conjoined magic jump between her fingers, creatingsparks that skipped on their skin, destiny could be damned.

I'm sure you've probably been asked this before but what would be the ideal way for sq to happen at this point if you could have it happen any way?
i have! and the truth is that i'm really not very particular about it! iâve talked about it a little here but  100% iâll take anything...the setup is already there, so thereâs not much that really needs to be done on the writersâ part? but if weâre talking...what feels the most organic to me at this point in the series...it would be very easy to take reginaâs implied jealousy of hook (see also: youâre too good for hookâ) and solidify it; snow could potentially play a part in this, since sheâs been giving regina knowing looks every time she so much as looks at emma for the better part of four years now.Â
on emmaâs side of things, it would make a lot of sense if hook proposed and emma accepted, but the show eventually shed light on the fact that she agreed mainly because she feels that itâs the right thing to do/wants to please her parents/etc. and this would culminate in emma getting cold feet and backing out (to be totally honest, i can see this happening even sans swan queenâand, really, even if hook/emma continues past a terminated proposal; i just do not think emma is in a healthy enough place for marriage to anyone right now). the rest kind of...writes itself. you have your very easy âinâ for emmaâs coming out arc, and with reginaâs pining and jealousy more concretely established, the road to emma/regina would be clear.Â
ideally, like i said, all of this would be framed through emmaâs repression of her sexuality and her fear of disappointing her parents (the latter of which has been so minimally dealt with in canon, when it should have been a focal point of emmaâs 4B and 5A arcs, re: dark swan in partic). on reginaâs end, robin is back for the next few episodes, and this would be an ideal time to (finally) challenge the âpixie dust soulmateâ concept, and explore how important it is for regina to choose her loved ones, given her history with manipulation and abuse by cora/rumple/leopold et al.Â
basically, what i would do at this point: regina stays by emmaâs side in the days leading up to the emma/hook wedding, albeit reluctantlyâyouâve got regina forcing her feelings down, and taking them out on hook to avoid confessing them to emma, so that sheâs getting testier with him and more strained by the day. snow calls her out on her feelings for emma eventually, and regina denies everything and refuses to intervene in the wedding plans; she pushes herself to meet all of emmaâs doubts and insecurities about the wedding with reassurances, even if they sound very halfhearted to her ears (and probably to emmaâs, too) and resolves to be The Best Maid Of Honor Ever⢠but in the end, emma and hook end up calling it off. the pacing would really depend on...when all of this happened; if it wasâby some miracleânot at the very end of the series, there could be time for emma to deal with the implications of all of this, and come to terms with her sexuality (in some cases, relative to her parents), etc. but if weâre on a time crunch, we can do this rom-com style, emma and regina simultaneously racing to track each other down, or henry tricking them into meeting or something...thereâs so much potential! and all of it is good and a lot of it is cliche, which is what snow/charming gets on a weekly basis and what emma/regina deserves

Once Upon a Time Fanfiction: (Part 3 of âMy What?!â) âCaptain Swanâ Â {L}
Short recap of the last 2 parts: Sex, gun, pregnancy, birth, proposal and overall, happiness.
Synopsis of this part... to put it crudely: Itâs about damn time.
***(Location: Captain Swan household)
âOh no. Youâre not supposed to see the bride before the wedding starts. Itâs a superstition that even I agree with.â Regina said to Killian. He was all dressed up in his pure black tux with the one pink flower, from Camelot, in his pocket. His tie was a really dark navy blue. His guyliner was perfect. Belle had done it earlier that morning.
âI forgot something. Iâll be in and out before you can say Jolly Roger.â Killian said.
âWhat is it? Iâll get it.â Regina crossed her arms.
âI need my handkerchief.â He was going to try to walk past her. He heard a poof. There it was. The dark green handkerchief that he needed. It was in his pocket, already, folded like the other groomsmenâs. It was so that it would look like the flowerâs leaves.
âNow get out of here before you accidentally see her.â Regina grabbed him by the shoulders, gave him a turn and a slight push, then headed into the house.
âWhat was that?â Emma asked. Regina had been standing outside all day and had only come in to grab a drink. She looked Emma up and down and stopped in her tracks. âWhat?â
âI didnât think that dress would work, but you look amazing.â Regina said as she looked her friend up and down. Her wedding dress was magnificent. It had a red leather bustier, with a ball gown-style bottom that was pure white. Her train was long but not too long. Her veil was an intricate and beautiful white lace. Her shoes were pure white heels with two light green leaf jewels on the back of each shoe with a single jeweled red rose in the middle. Her makeup had never looked that good in her life. It was nude with a crimson lip. She didnât want too much makeup on, though, because she wanted it to symbolize being completely open to Killian. No âmasksâ on.
âThank you.â Emma said. âBut what was that outside?â
âHook came over to get his handkerchief. Heâs left, now, so you donât have to worry about him seeing you.â Regina said. She sat down with the glass of green tea she had just gotten. Zelenaâs been shoving it down her throat and sheâs actually starting to like it.
âAlright. Everythingâs ready to go.â Belle said, walking around Emma. Snow walked down the stairs, right after Belle finished her sentence, carrying Laurel and took one look at her daughter before the tears started to flow.
âYou going to be okay, mom?â Emma asked. She tilted her head with the softest smile.
âYeah. I think so.â Snow replied. Emma nodded and did her magical hand gesture and everyone was poofed from where they stood, to the inside of the boat shed. That was where the other bridesmaids were getting ready. It was decorated, though, to look like a salon.
***(Location: The Docks)(The Jolly Roger is there)
The altar was right in front of the best view of the horizon on the docks. It was two, twenty foot tall, artificial trees. Their plastic leaves looked almost overgrown, but they were still perfect. Both had small branches âgrowingâ out in  the otherâs direction, at 10 feet. A beautiful pearly satin was laid on top of both of the branches and flowed down all the way until it barely touched the ground. To the right was a newly cleaned and painted Jolly Roger, whose shadow was cast nearly onto the seating. Regina had cleared up the weather for the perfect day. It was sunny, but it wasnât too bright. There were clouds placed just right. It was a cool, yet warm day. Every single thing was perfect. Magic can really do that for a wedding.
Killian and the groomsmen were already at the altar, rearing and ready to go. All except for David. He was the best man. The bromance was strong with those two. The groomsmen included; Henry, David, Hookâs kid brother, Liam, August and in spirit, Robin. Their tuxes were as black as Killianâs, with white button-up shirts and navy blue ties. They all had the same flower from Camelot and dark green handkerchiefs.
The bridesmaids were; Belle, Regina being the maid of honor, Mary Margaret, Granny who was holding Laurel, Ruby and Ariel. They all wore red heart line strapless dresses made of chiffon. The bustiers of their dresses were also red leather. Laurel was wrapped in a white blanket with red stitching on the outsides and her name sewn in, in black.
In the chairs, literally sat almost every single person thatâs ever step foot in Storybrooke. Jefferson was even there. He and Emma had made amends after she admitted to him that magic was real and he apologized for drugging her and holding her and Snow hostage. His daughter was there, as well. All of the dwarves were there, from Grumpy to Doc to Dopey. Killian looked down the aisle. The music had started. It was the classic âHere Comes The Brideâ played on the violin and harp.
Emma and David walked out to the head of the beautiful red carpet that was laid on the concrete. Killianâs eyes watered and began overflowing with tears. Thank God the guyliner Belle used was waterproof. He bent down and put his hand and hook on his knees, then stood up quickly and threw his head back. The tears were like the Mississippi River in high tide. He wiped them away with his hand and his hook and stood back upright and looked to his beautiful bride. Emma had a smile from ear to ear while her tears flowed, as well. Her eyeliner was also waterproof. She finally reached the altar, standing next to Archie and Killian. David stepped to the side, right behind Hook. She looked over her husband-to-beâs shoulder and saw her father crying. She couldnât help but smile.
âBefore this ceremony begins, Emma made it clear that she had something that she needed Killian to know before anything got started.â Archie said.
âWhat is it, love?â He was getting nervous but he kept as cool as he could.
âThese people. Theyâre not just here for me. I want you to know that. Every single person is here for you, too.â Emma said. She smiled and they looked out into the crowd. Hookâs eyes started to water again.
âYeah!â The wedding attendants yelled. âWe love you, Killian!â
âBloody Hell.â He said, voice shaking. This was the first time he truly saw it. He was loved. Not just by Emma. But everyone else that was there, that day. He finally had what Nemo had tried to give him all of those centuries ago. A family.
âAlright, letâs get this show on the road.â Emma laughed. Killian looked back to her and she wiped the tears from his face, gently.
âWe gather here today to make two people, one. Emma Swan and Killian Jones. We celebrate the love of two heroes. A woman whoâs saved the town a million times over, and a pirate who didnât give up on pursuing the woman he loved. Heâs also saved the town a bunch of times letâs not even pretend to forget that.â Archie began. There were smiles all around. Tears, too. âWe shall begin the ceremony. Do either of you have anything to add before we do?â He looked to the beautiful bride and the groom.
âNo.â Emma said, smiling. She looked back to Killian.
âNot that I know of.â He said. Everybody laughed. He did the puppy dog head tilt. He didnât know why they were laughing but ultimately just accepted it. Archie nodded and began the beautiful bonding of the two.
âDearly beloved, we are gathered together in the sight of God, and in the face of this company, to join together this man and this woman in holy matrimony. I require and charge you both, as you will answer at the dreadful day of judgment when the secrets of all hearts will be disclosed, that if anyone knows any impediment, why these two may not be lawfully joined together in matrimony, speak now or forever hold your peace.â
Everyone looked around. No one said a thing.
âKillian Jones, do you take Emma Swan, as your wedded wife? Will you love her, comfort her, honour her, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do you part?â Archie continued.
âI do.â Killian said. His eyes started to water, again, but he managed to hold it in and blink them away.
âEmma Swan, do you take, Killian Jones, to be your wedded husband? Will you love him, comfort him, honour him, to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, until death do you part?â
âAye.â Emma said. âI do.â Killian let out a small laugh. The rest of the crowd laughed through their tissues. There wasnât a dry eye in the house! Or dockâŚ
âWho gives this woman to be married to this man?â Archie asked. David stepped forward from his previous stance.
âI, Killian Jones, take thee, Emma Swan, as my wedded wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better for worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death us do part.â Killian said to Archie. David walked around and gave Killian the ring. It was silver with a round, 6.5 carat diamond. He had much larger diamonds but he knew it would be too bulky and uncomfortable. Regardless, everything he had was hers, in his eyes, already. This marriage was only going to make that official. Killian took Emmaâs left hand and placed it onto her ring finger.
âWho gives this man to be married to this woman?â Archie asked. Killianâs kid brother, Liam, made his way to Emma with his big brotherâs band. It was pure silver, as well, with an intricate pattern carved into it with a fleur de lis that would show from the top view of his hand.
âI Emma Swan, take thee, Killian Jones, to be my wedded husband, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better for worse, for richer for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death us do part.â She looked back to Killian. She took his right hand and placed the ring on his ring finger. The two smiled at each other.
âBy the authority invested in me by the town of Storybrooke, and the internet, I pronounce you, husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride.â Archie took a large step back, sensing something amazing was about to happen. He was right. Emma leaped into Killianâs arms, and he swung her around until she was bent over backwards, with their lips pressed together firmly. When they finished the kiss and were upright again, they ran down the aisle while everyone in the crowd was throwing pink rose petals everywhere. Everyone cheered for Captain Swan!
âShe had better be in good hook!â David yelled. Everyone laughed. Even Killian.
And they lived happily...ever...afterâŚ
...fighting bad guys together. Like a real, badass couple does.
The. End.
(This was the final part to my CS fic and Iâm proud. I hope you love it as much as I do, if not, more!)
