Turns out, you did jinx yourself last week.

You should have learnt your lesson from all those times you and your sister had spoken bad luck into existence, be it unannounced guests or other inconveniences.

But you didn't, so here you were.

Staring down motherfucking Ursa the Drake, with Dvalin pinning them (her?) down with his massive body and motherfucking Crepus Ragnvindr looking at you both simultaneously like it's Christmas and like he thinks he's schizophrenic.

Diluc didn't look any better. He was as white as a sheet and if you were any better at identifying emotions, you'd think he was about to cry.

...surely not?

But then again, he was younger than in the game and his father was right there, alive and well - you doubted he was anything like the cold and grumpy Diluc who closed himself off from the world that you knew.

A terrified baby that was probably overthinking how Ursa would kill him, his father and the whole cohort they traveled with all the way to Tuesday.

...now you just felt bad for judging. You wouldn't be any better in his place, especially without your scary Dvalin priviledges.

"Ursa, darling, what exactly are you doing?"

All you got for your troubles was a roar in your face.

Except it didn't even feel like a scary dragon about to eat you, it felt like a child throwing a tantrum.

...the notion of Ursa being this uncontested and plaguing Mondstadt for a thousand years while being a mere child was kind of terrifying actually, so you very deliberately decided not to dwell on it. For your own sanity, if nothing else.

"Dvalin, you know Ursa, so... Any ideas?" You asked the dragon, who looked almost bored as he outright lounged on Ursa as if they (she?) were his beddings. If that didn't make a statement, you didn't know what would.

"While we did not cross paths frequently in the past, I had always thought her to be... Especially nefarious."

Ursa trashed around, but Dvalin didn't budge and effortlessly kept them (her? her.) pinned down.

"She reminds me of Durin. But where Durin was oblivious to the grevious harm he caused and merely wanted to play, Ursa is fully conscious and reveling in the pain she inflicts on others, often being open to agreements that involve human sacrifice."

Ursa screeched. In protest, maybe?

"For now, there is not much that can be done. You would need to be much stronger to subdue her permamently, which requires time. But I shall stall her until you are strong enough, alongside Boreas."

Oh.

So your scary Dvalin priviledges were being voided. It was a shame, you really liked his company -- his stories were a delight to listen to and he spoiled you rotten for comfortable accomodations, any bed or chair from now on would be a massive downgrade.

Still, it was understandable. Responsibilities and human lives were priority over your comfort. You weren't going to complain too much.

"I'll miss you," you say as you stroke his wings, not really having access to his torso or head to hug him properly due to Ursa.

Speaking of Ursa...

"Be good. You're making trouble for everyone."

And maybe you were being reckless and simply asking for your arm and face to be bitten off, but you flicked her on the snoot, because you only live once and Dvalin had you mildly convinced nothing in Teyvat would hurt you.

Ursa startles and then, honest to God, whines.

Dvalin huffs in what you assume is amusement and grabs at Ursa with his massive limbs. His wings stretch as he readies himself to take flight.

"I will miss you too, (Name)."

And just like that both dragons are gone like the wind.

That left you all alone to face the Ragnvindr and C.O., so you put on your customer service smile and clap your hands in fake excitement you really don't feel.

If nothing else, working in retail taught you how to play the fool.

"So, now that that is done and over with. I believe you have a mess to clean up?"

Crepus looks at you like you grew an extra head, before doubling over in a hearty laugh that broke through the weird atmosphere that settled over the caravan as easily as a hot knife through butter.

Diluc still looks like a poke would knock him over, but at least he got some colour back in him.

"Ah, thank you for that."

Crepus walks over to you and offers you a handshake, gripping your hand firmly and with enthusiasm that was entirely on him. Not that you weren't excited to meet characters from Genshin... but that was the thing, wasn't it? They weren't the characters you knew in Genshin. Crepus was barely a mention, Diluc was a different person entirely and the rest of the caravan were either NPCs hanging around on the map somewhere or didn't exist in the game at all.

So, you had to treat them like actual people.

And you weren't good with people.

"No problem. I'm (Name) (Last Name), just call me (Name) please."

Smile through the pain Harold, grant me your strength.

"Crepus Ragnvindr, and the redhead over there is my son, Diluc. It's a pleasure to meet you, (Name)."

He lets go of your hand and smiles so brightly you half-heartedly wished for some sunglasses. Was this man sunshine personified? Certaintly felt like he was.

"I would say I wish we met under different circumstances, but that's not exactly the truth, is it? Any other circumstances would have me trying to fight Ursa the Drake and that was bound to end badly for me, so... Thank you for saving my life."

And at that precise moment the Knights of Favonius spurred on by Kaeya Alberich himself burst into the scene, weapons ready.

...Kaeya looked like such a baby too, it had you thinking on just how young the literal children like Diona would be.

Jean

She knew Kaeya was a bad influence! Its not entirely his fault but she doesn’t have time to care about your mistake here. You can try to sweet talk her or be all cuddly but shes not holding back on you! You should’ve known better than to get this drunk if you didn’t want to make her worried sick! She goes into overdrive caring for you though. A bucket and water telling you to drink every drop. You aren’t going to bed until she’s sure you feel better because she doesn’t want to wake up to vomit everywhere. Also because you could choke on your own vomit. Its also to help lessen the hangover. Mondstadt is the drinking capital in Teyvat though so there’s definitely more tips she knows just by living there. Despite her being s but mean it does help when you are hungover and less dehydrated than you would’ve been. She made sure to leave you some painkillers and medication for you on the nightstand.

Diluc

“I told you so” kind guy. He’s probably a bit annoyed but that doesn’t mean he isn’t going to help. Although he can’t help but find it a little bit amusing the state you’re in. Just giggling and mumbling words. Its kind of cute. Unlike Jean his anger and annoyance lessens the more cuddly you get. His heart melting at the fact that you still seek him out in this inebriated state of yours. He’ll fix you something to sober you up real quick and hold your hair if you vomit. If you have to take a bath he will be there to make sure you don’t drown. Since he is a bartender he has the best knowledge of how to handle hangovers. Next time however you should be careful

Eula

She probably was drinking with you to be honest. But her liver is far stronger than you thought! Seeing you drunk out of your mind she will stop drinking for the night and take you home instead. A gentle bridal style while she takes caution to not upset your tummy. She gets you plenty of water to help sober you up for bed time. You will just have to go along with her word, she isnt entertaining any arguments or resistance from you now! She changes you out of your clothes, ties up your hair, etc. She makes sure you’re nice and cozy for the night before she takes care of herself.

Dehya

She can’t help but find it amusing watching you stumble about. She asks Lambad for some water but she holds it to you so you won’t drop it. She teases you about being a lightweight. But she isn’t finished drinking yet so just hold on! Once you fall over and pass out though she ditches that plan and instead carries you home. A bit difficult considering she too is tipsy but it helps that she’s strong and not nearly as drunk. Nonetheless she tucks you in and sleeps right next to you, making sure you’re pressed up against her so you can be nice and warm.

Arlecchino

She knew you would be a light weight. Just one shot of firewater and you’re out like a light, your head on her thigh as she was reading something. You seem too peaceful to move so she simply lets you stay there. Her hand rummaging through your hair every so often. Occasionally she glances to see your face and smiles. You’re cute like this. Next time she’ll make sure to dilute the firewater properly so she an enjoy your drunken state a little more.

Shenhe

She’s not sure what to do with you actually. Worried that you’ve hit your head she brings you to Bubu pharmacy, to which Baizhu has to explain the difference between a head injury and alcohol. But he sends her off with a few pain meds for you in the morning. She heeds his instructions well. Helping you settle in for a nice rest to sleep it off. She might have gone overboard though because she overdoes it with the blankets and water. But its still appreciated when you wake up with the worst hangover.

Beidou

You crash together. You fall asleep first, in her arms as she eventually falls asleep too , holding you close to her. Both drunk out of your minds you two end up asleep using a tarp as a blanket on the deck of the crux. The crew still mulling and celebrating their most recent success. The crew ends up having to lift you two back to your beds together because even unconscious would Beidou not let go of you. When you wake up she’s far better off than you as she teases you endlessly. Needless to say you two will be chugging water from here on out. At least until the next celebration. Lucky for you she keeps a stash of painkillers for her crew for this specific occasion.

Navia

A relentless teaser! How horrible! She ends up giggling watching you stumble and stutter. She can’t help it! You’re such a silly bean! Once you get sleepy is when she brings you home to rest. With her guards doing the heavy lifting of course. But she’ll do the bathing or changing herself with them casted out of the room. Afterwards she prepares herself for bed, snuggling against you.

In the morning she’ll make her guards get you painkillers and water.

Diluc Ragnvindr: 2/10

Diluc is this 🤏 close to receiving a 1/10 if he continues to invade you and Scaramouche's sibling bonding time. Obviously, the two don't get along (and will probably never get along) due to Diluc's past and Scara's trust issues, the two argue a lot about you while you're just there vibing with the lamp grass unaware of the commotion.

He's heard of it all, the youngest Cavalry Captain who left the Knights to pursue Monstadt's enemies alone. He'd sometimes use his knowledge of Diluc's past to provoke him, and boy does it provoke him. The two went into a full-blown fistfight at one point, with the occasional use of a vision since their weapons have been thrown aside by the other.

Scaramouche is clingy to the ones who stay by his side, and Diluc is protective of the ones he loves, so you can imagine what it was like when Diluc saw you walking along with Scaramouche (who Diluc knows as the Balladeer, the 6th harbinger of the Fatui) when you told him that you would be introducing a very close friend of yours. It started with Diluc carrying you on his shoulder and running away, with a wild Scaramouche on his tail. And ended with Diluc being treated by Barbara and Scaramouche being treated by Nahida.

You really have to manage your time here, the two won't ever get along and if you spend more time with the other, the one you didn't spend time with will go visit the other and start demanding that they leave you alone. Diluc would wonder how you could ever tolerate and even care for Scaramouche, whatever your reason is he wouldn't be able to understand. Scaramouche would ask when will you break up with Diluc, and would pout if you reply that you wouldn't break up with him.

Kaeya: 3/10

Just right next to Venti, and he would soon be ranked right next to his brother if Kaeya doesn't learn to shut the fuck up-

Arrogant, lazy, and a teasing prick. How many more traits can Kaeya have to piss people off? Scaramouche already looks down on humans, and seeing Kaeya with you disgusts him as he believes you deserve so much better. their first impressions of each other were bad, you can feel the tension in the air when the two just stood there with fake smiles.

He hates it when Kaeya tags along in your travels, even insisting on helping the both of you with your journeys when he has free time. Scaramouche would make a passive-aggressive comment on how the two of you don't need his help, and that you are both capable of defending each other. if you agreed to Kaeya joining Scaramouche would be appalled, before turning around so no one can see the expression on his face. Why did you agree??

The two are in a contest with how much they're provoking each other. If the other one breaks and lash out, the one who didn't wins. Their words to each other are sharp, and even when they're having a decent conversation with the other it's only when you're around, and even then it has slight undertones and hidden threats. Good lord, I hope you have a lot of patience.

Zhongli/Rex Lapis/Morax: 4/10

You know that situation where someone's little sister is dating a boy and the big brother tries to be intimidating but the boy she's dating is taller and stronger than the big brother. Yeah that's the situation Scaramouche is in, but you are not a little girl nor is Zhongli just a human boy.

He's very annoyed with the situation, he's supposed to be the reliable one! What is this skyscraper of a man doing here?! Ngl he might be a tad bit insecure with the situation and would be at arm's length around you the entire time Zhongli was around the both of you. After the first few weeks of introducing him to Zhongli Scaramouche would notice just how pathetic this man is for you, and would find it amusing to watch.

Though it would soon turn to annoyance when Zhongli slowly starts dedicating all his time to you and going as far as to do his paperwork right next to you. This pet of yours is slowly turning into a pest, and he wants to get rid of it immediately. Zhongli would notice how Scaramouche is excluding him from your travels and would confront him about it in private. After the confrontation the atmosphere between the two became suffocating.

The only thing holding back Zhongli from throwing an entire mountain at the child was the fact that you and Scaramouche have a bond similar to siblings. The two of you insult each other but it never held any sort of ill-intent, and you both travel together frequently. Zhongli would rather die than be hated by you, and killing/hurting Scaramouche is a one-way ticket to being hated. So for now, he would just try to spend as much time with you, even if it means being next to the purple haired brat.

Not only is he trying to manage the winery but also keep track of you and make sure you aren’t getting lost, getting into trouble, or breaking any more expensive swords. He’s genuinely going to have a heart attack one day.

Diluc sighed for the nth time that day, hands rubbing tiredly at his temples as he responded to the patient townsfolk in front of him. He had spent the past hour wandering round Mondstat alone looking for you, having turned away for only a moment to pay for something. He had considered all the possibilities of how to keep you from wandering off, and with a nose like yours he’d figure it wouldn’t be hard to find him again but apparently you’d never thought to use it. A bracelet or necklace would be too small and probably fall off as you fought with your swords, a shirt would simply get dirty or damaged, and pants would simply look ridiculous. At this point he was contemplating just getting you an adult sized version of the leash backpack he often used for Diona. 

Yandere!Rosaria would be strangely ok with you wandering off on your own and getting in trouble. This is largely because there isn’t anywhere you can go that she can’t follow or send someone to follow. She’s not overly worried about you, knowing that you’re a capable fighter and handling yourself isn’t something that’s difficult. Though you can be a bit reckless. She does speak to Draff and Timmy about pigeons and trains one of her own to follow you around and report to her if you get into something you shouldn’t have.

It was no surprise to Rosaria when a familiar bird came fluttering through the open church windows, gliding over to her and landing gently on her shoulder. With a quick nudge of its head, a trained signal, it was able to tell Rosaria where you were and what you had gotten into. It would be quick work getting to you, with Rosaria keeping a small stash of teleportation crystals since having met you. Thanking the bird, she rushed out of the church, heading to where you were at. Rosaria wasn’t sure how, but somehow despite having hearing, sight, and a sense of smell all stronger than hers, advanced due to your wolf hybridity, you managed to get lost anyways. It didn’t matter much to her in the end anyway, your little spontaneous adventures had always been enough to pull her away from boring church duties.

It isn’t something surprising coming from a Ragnvindr. They seemed to be a family unbound by society’s perception and were capable of paving new paths that no one would have thought of, granted they would also be scorned as they walked that path.

And he looked at her with quivering lips. He really liked his name coming out from her lips. He wanted her to call him that in many different ways—in different tones.

Diluc’s haughtiness made Jean laugh. And the corner of his lips could not help but twitch, a smile fighting to fully erupt, and he did not let it.

That smile, these affections.

Jean felt like a specimen. Perhaps only he could make her feel such a thing.

The way his eyes were inspecting her, made her feel like he was even deliberating her very soul.

She was worried he’d deem her unfit to be with him. But of course, she couldn’t show it outwardly. She had to contain all her nerves. Nerves that he had set aflame.

She kept her silence because their relationship was something of convenience. This was something she was very clear about.

This was eventually going to happen; Jean had anticipated this situation. Jean and Diluc’s famed lover would meet eventually, a fact that loomed over her since the moment he proposed this undertaking. It just so happened that he seemed to want it done earlier than she could ever expect. But truly, there was probably no right or wrong time to introduce your mistress to the legal wife.

HOW THEY HURT YOU

Summary: No one is perfect, and sometimes they hurt you, even without meaning to.

Author's note: I TRICKED YOU WITH FLUFF FIRST NOW IT'S TIME FOR P A I N.

Warnings: Gender neutral reader, Angst, there's no comfort here (maybe in another post), mention of neglect in Ayato's, mention of a verbal fight in Kaeya's. There's no physical violence, and there's no will to hurt the other here, just people being people.

AYAKA is not the same when she is with you behind closed doors and when she is out in the public. Her clan and her family are so important to her, and she can't afford to mess up, which makes a lot of things feel... fake. And unfortunately, as her s/o, that means that she'll expect you to have the same high standards.

And it's so, so heavy. Not being able to be too spontaneous or taking a carefree decision, being out and not being yourself but rather representing something, all of that is hard to deal with when you were not born in it. Dancing in the rain is too childish, laughing too loudly is not proper, too much PDA is not allowed. You might try to negotiate that her own older brother doesn't seem to care about appearance as much, but she'll simply answer that she is the face of the Kamisato clan, not him.

AYATO tends to take you for granted. Once you've been together for some time, he simply expects you to forgive him for being late, for being busy, for not telling you everything, for keeping you in the dark. You love him, and you know he loves you and would never do anything to endanger you or hurt you, right?

Yet, he does. His absence hurts, the cold side of his bed hurts, his empty apologies hurt, all the gifts he sends through his retainers but never himself hurt, all the times you feel like the last person who knows whatever is going on, all of this hurt terribly. And he probably won't notice until you're at your breaking point and he might have already lost you already. He won't know what to do then, having ignored all the signs that led to this.

DILUC is... not good with words and emotions. He doesn't really know how to handle them, neither his own or others'. So when you're upset or angry or sad, he is at loss. Sure, he can hold you and bring you whatever you need, but words? Yeah, not his strong suit. He is either silent, or will try to solve whatever problem you have when you just need to vent, which makes you feel like an idiot or like whatever happened was your fault.

And it gets frustrating, both at himself for not finding the right word, and at you because you just don't seem to get what he means. When he sees he is doing more damage than good, he might just give you space... and should the same thing arises in the future, he might just avoid you to not make it any worse. Which is not the best thing to do.

KAEYA is insanely good with words it's almost scary. With you, he is nothing but flirt and sweet words and compliments and light teasing. But when you two are having a fight? His tongue goes faster than his brain, and his words cut deep. Depending on how angry he is, he might either immediately calm down and take back his words, or just steel his heart and refuses to feel any sense of guilt whatsoever. Maybe grow a thicker skin if the truth hurts that bad?

Once he cools down though, he will fall in a hole of self-loathing and guilt (hole he might try to fill with alcohol, too ashamed to confront you). He will eventually crawl back to you, but he knows how to use words too well to fool himself he can fix completely whatever his horrible words just damaged.

ZHONGLI is old. He might be one of the oldest beings in all of Teyvat, and it's so obvious in anything he does. There's nothing you can do to not feel the difference between the two of you, no matter how well he treats you. From how much he knows about everything, to how quickly he seems to take on all the newest trends, from how much stronger he is than you, to how well he seems to handle any situation.

Being with him sometimes feels like playing your first puzzle game together, except he has already done it once, and also hundreds of other puzzle games. He might let you think for yourself and try to figure out the solution, but he already has it. You feel like a child, with a parent watching over, waiting patiently until you get that the red cube goes in the square hole.

It felt so downright perverted to be acting this way. You tried your hardest to stay focused on the presentation in front of you but your mind kept drifting back to the device that was sitting between your legs. You watched Kaeya reach for his phone again that was sitting on the table in front of him. He tapped the screen a few times and you felt the vibrations inside of you grow stronger. You pressed your thighs together desperately trying to mask what was taking place. You couldn’t help but chew your bottom lip desperately trying not to let your pokerface drop.

She held her breathe too long and it made her heart break at such a thought, but the letter was proof of your crimes. There was no safety net that you could fall into.

She slammed the door open marching her way to your desk, her heels making a louder clack than normal. “Oh Jean, you startled me. What’s the matter dear?” you asked, a drop of sweat dripping down your forehead nervously. She slammed a paper down on the wooden desk.

“Can you explain this?” she asked you with a lump in her throat. You sat forward to analyze the familiar coffee-colored paper, the seal that you remembered burning onto the envelope made your eyes pop. You didn’t need to read the contents to know what this letter revealed. 

You had been working undercover recently against the Abyss, you couldn’t tell anyone because the more people knew about your plans, the more of a chance it would be public. So you had to hide it from everyone, including your lover. You sent letters to the Abyss entailing real information about the Knights of Favonius’ actions, but only to gain their trust. You planned on stabbing them in the back when the time came, but it was far too early. “I can explain-,” you stuttered.

“Explain what? There’s nothing you can explain because the damage is already done. I cannot pardon your actions as the Acting Grand Master, you know that,” she asserted interrupting you. Her eyes softened at you as her brows furrowed upwards. “What were you even thinking? All those late nights I stayed up working overtime to protect Mondstadt, only for all my plans to go downhill. I told you every detail because I trusted you. Now I realize how much of a fool I was."

• Sara heard rumors floating around the Narukami Shrine about some Tenryou officers that were manipulating the Shogun for her power. A little birdy told her it was those closest to her, people like you. 

• Sara didn’t want to believe it without proof, but sure enough after three days, she returned to the shrine. Only to receive news from official documents with Tenryou seals with evidence of your betrayal and corruption despite your pledges.

• Sara would be in disbelief, but she couldn’t argue against the facts. She didn’t serve Inazuma, she served the Shogun. Meaning despite it going against official order, she had to do what was right with the undeniable evidence, even though it was secretly made to frame you.

Sara gripped hard on the document in her hand, the paper crumpling under pressure, your handwriting being mushed together within the letter. She wasted no time after receiving the bad news, she was going to get to the bottom of this matter even if it costs her position as General.

Little did she know she was so corrupted by her sheer emotions that if given the opportunity to forgive you she wouldn’t take it. Her judgment clouded, all she could see was a haze of red. She burst into your room doors, you were sitting in bed reading a book as you normally did in your pastime, not expecting any visitors. “Sara? What brings you here?” you questioned. 

You saw her teeth grit, her bangs covering her eyes so you couldn’t make out her emotions. You noticed her knuckles clenching till they were white, a paper in her right hand. “What do you have there Sara?” you questioned, you had a pit in your stomach, a feeling that you already knew what it was even without asking.

“See for yourself traitor,” she threw the paper at you. The ink on the paper was unmistakably your handwriting, but you had no recollection of composing it. You read the contents of the letter, it was a letter of betrayal, you couldn’t believe your eyes. You looked up in fear, her actions more animated than normal. Just making eye contact with you made her want to throw up.

“Sara I-,” you tried to peep, explain whatever was in the letter. But you didn’t know yourself.

“How dare you,” she muttered. Her eyes glossy, a vein popping from her neck, you could tell she was fighting hard to keep back her tears. “You could’ve just told me... d-did you really have to lie to me?” Her voice grew more sentimental, it was more than just a situation of terrorism, it was a broken heart.

Childe can finish it. But he finishes the toned-down version. Childe's more about speed. And Diluc's strength training would take him a few days to recover from. Here is the thing. Childe is probably the most energetic about the workout. Like Itto, he loves working out with Diluc, but he also loves how much stronger he feels after.

Zhongli definitely can keep up, and it really does remind him of the old days of working with everyone to prepare for battles. He tends to get distracted by this, though. And well, he also gets distracted but how hard Diluc is working and how focused he is. So he'll start with Diluc but ends up stopping part way through to go and fetch Diluc something to drink for when he finishes up. My man's in retirement. He's trying to enjoy it.

I love Albedo. But he's chalk. No way in hell.

Eula as a knight has gone through Diluc's 14-year-old workout when she was punished once and has vowed vengeance on Diluc but making him go through her work training routine. He's awful at it by way. But does it cause Eula looks happy when they are up in the snow together.

Thoma saw Diluc's work out when they were a kid. He knows he can never do it, so he just ensures that Diluc gets enough water and always comes out with a towel when Diluc is finished.

Xiao also can do the workout. And only really does it to be with Diluc. He likes keeping an eye on him and ensuring he's not hurting himself. And he does like seeing Diluc look so focused and working so hard to protect his city. It's really endearing to Xiao.

childe is a very rowdy person, always looking for a fight. so it's not a surprise when he's at your doorstep with that idiotic grin of his while blood is seeping through his clothes

tonight's injuries were worse than last weeks. "childe i'm going to murder you." you mumbled grabbing his hand and dragging him inside. you shut the door behind him before shoving him into your bathroom, not making eye contact the entire way there

childe sat down on the toilet seat and began removing his shirt, but stopped when he felt a sharp stabbing pain in his shoulder. "you probably pulled it." you sighed. you removed his shirt for him and tossed it in the bathtub. you did not need a bloody shirt on your floor.

"you can't murder me if you're playing nurse." he half joked, trying to keep back his whining as you applied an alcohol wipe to his chest. "stop- stop talking." you weren't in any mood for jokes or teasing tonight. you were tired. you were so beyond tired. childe getting beat up and coming to your house at dusk was becoming routine. it was only time before he met the wrong opponent– someone stronger than him. it was a terrifying thought to think that one night he wouldn't come back.

you kept your head down while applying bandages to his torso so he couldn't see the tears threatening to spill from your eyes. childe noticed your unsteady, slightly shaking hands finishing the bandages. he reached up to gently hold your wrist. "y/n?" he said barely above a whisper.

and there you broke. tears ran down your cheek and you collapsed to the floor, sobbing your heart out. "i- i cant do this anymore childe! you cant, you cant keep doing this to me." the cracks and pain in your voice stabbed childe in the heart, stronger than any jab he felt tonight.

childe, as quickly as he could with his state, lowered himself to the floor and hugged your shaking body tightly. his arms wrapped around you in a protective manner and kissed your head as you continued to bawl. "i'm sorry. i'm so sorry y/n." he whispered in your ear, trying to hold back his own tears. you hid your face in the crook of his neck, tears spilling onto his bare skin.

once you had calmed down a bit, you raised your head so your eyes could meet his bright blue ones. his eyes were watery. he placed his hands on either side of your face and wiped your cheeks.

childe leaned foreword, his forehead rested against yours and closed his eyes. "i promise, i'll stop. for you i'll be more careful. just- just don't let me be the reason you cry."

you understand diluc's duties as the dark knight hero, and you admired his desire to protect mondstadt, but some nights he worried you to death.

like this one, when he promised he would be home sooner but instead he's an hour late.

you were sitting by the fire in the main room when you heard the door swing wide open, it startled you and you were ready to take down the intruder, but you let out a gasp when you realized it was diluc who was clutching his side, bent over.

you rush over to his side and put his arm over your shoulder for support. "oh my diluc, what happened to you." you barely managed to speak. you helped him walk to the couch (he was really heavy, thank goodness you didn't fall) where you were just at and lay him down carefully.

"nothing to worry about dear, just a scratch." the pain in his voice and the amount of blood told you otherwise. "don't you dare move, i'll go fetch the kit." you rushed to the bathroom and back in the speed of light. diluc was already removing his coat and shirt. you let out a noise of worry when you saw the big gash on diluc's side. it was bloody and gross, but nothing you couldn't fix.

diluc looked exhausted and was on the verge of sleep, but you had to keep him awake. "don't fall asleep, tell me what happened." you started cleaning the infected area and diluc flinched and let out a unpleasant groan. "it was just a damned abyss mage. i turned- ow, i turned my back for one second and it got me." his voice did not sound like his own. it was breathless and deeper.

you finished bandaging his wound. you let your fingers roam the now bandaged area before bringing diluc's hand up to your cheek. he welcomed your touch and held your cheek delicately. "thank you love." he mumbled, giving you a tired smile. "i'll go grab a blanket. rest here for tonight. i'll be on the chair if you need anything." you stood up to go grab the blankets, but before you could take another step, diluc had grabbed your hand. "i love you." he said, closing his eyes. you smile before bending down and pressing a kiss to his forehead. "i love you too."

albedo is always careful in everything he does. he works with the utmost care and is always organized. he almost never misplaces his ingredients in the lab. key word: almost.

so when sucrose handed him the vile he asked for, the explosion he had concocted by accident was extremely bright & very hot, taking albedo by surprise. he fell backwards onto the shards of glass from the vile. they littered his arm and blood was spilling out, dropping onto the floor

sucrose gasped at the sight and quickly ran to fetch you, who was just outside of dragonspine at the base before albedo could even get a word out. "y/n!" her yelling and running towards you startled everyone at the base. "sucrose? what is it? what's wrong?" you placed your hands on her shoulders to help calm her down. sucrose rested her hands on her knees, trying to catch her breath. "it's, it's mister albedo, he injured himself. please- come quickly." you sat sucrose down on a chair, calling a few of the researchers to help her.

you on the other hand, make a run for albedo's campsite. if sucrose came running all the way down here, it has to be bad. the snow was making it hard for you to get their fast, but your determination and worry for albedo kept you going. once you approach albedos location, you found him sitting on a chair, picking the shards of glass out of his skin. "albedo, oh my goodness." your voice caused albedo to snap his head in your direction. you quickly ran to his side, stopping him from picking anymore glass.

you sighed in relief. "it's just glass. sucrose made it seem like your heart was out of your chest your something." you mumbled, examining albedo's arm carefully. albedo grinned to himself. "i tried to stop her, but she ran before i could say anything."

you carefully extract the pieces of glass before you begin to the clean the wounds. albedo explained how his experiment went wrong at his own expense. "you should really be more careful 'bedo. what if it's worse next time?" you softly scold him as you finish up the last bandage. "what if it was something more dangerous? what if-" you let out a squeal as albedo pulled you down on to his lap before you could get out another word.

your back was now pressed against his chest. he pressed a loving kiss to the crook of your neck. "thank you love. i'll be more careful next time, promise."

albedo definitely works as either a diagnostician or the in-hospital pharmacy technician. either way, i can see albedo giving advice on treatment and prescription that might help relieve a patient’s condition. works more for the children’s ward. you greet him with coffee every time you know he’s on shift, knowing that he probably hasn’t slept in a while. you cant convince me that he doesn’t experiment with the defective or expired meds. he shows you his own recent discoveries on certain combinations and you tell him to go to a proper research facility. you often wonder how such a genius ended up as only a pharmacist rather than a chemical engineer.

i think diluc would work as an adult nurse solely because of the fact that he’s patient, kind and the elderly aren’t scared of him unlike the children- though he doesn’t look like it, he enjoys listening to their stories and past. he’s the person you usually chat with during your breaks. you’re often seen re-doing his ponytail or just styling his hair at the break room. normally is the one who does the heavy lifting at his ward.

klee was sent to the hospital for cardiomyopathy, a disease where the heart muscles have been stretched or thickened, making it extremely hard for blood to pump through the body. though it’s very rare for children, klee was just unlucky. because of her rather rambunctious behaviour, you’ve put her on a strict rule of no extreme movement around the hospital and can only walk around with the supervision of a nurse. it makes you happier knowing she’s taken a liking towards albedo. you often see her colouring a book near where albedo can keep watch of her. if albedo isn’t on shift then she mostly clings onto you when she can. she claims that the other doctors are not as kind or forgiving as you are. because of her comment, you start to debate the employment of some of your fellow staff.

venti is a frequent visitor to your hospital. you see him perform some songs at the nursery, soothing and entertaining all the kids and babies. when he’s not performing for the children, he’s visiting his twin brother (nameless bard, not canon) in a private room, away from all the chaos and noise of the hospital. his brother has been in a coma for almost four years now. a car crash. you can tell that the anniversary of the accident is near when you can hear slow and melancholic music from the corridor leading to his room. you sometimes offer him a drink that he favours the day of the anniversary. in exchange, he would tell you his favourite childhood memories of him and his twin.

kazuha is for sure a children’s nurse. the children see him as a person they can really talk to without feeling intimidated or scolded for what they say. he’s so gentle and calm when giving the kids their injections, even going out of his way to hold them close if they’re really scared. gives them lollipops since they’ve been so brave! during playtime and he’s in charge of the activities for that day, he teaches the kids how to make haikus and expanding their vocabulary. at the end of the day the children give kazuha their haikus. he puts them into an album and cherishes them. when the two of you are on lunch break, he excitedly shows you all the new haikus he got from the kids. you laugh at his over excitement, you’re glad he’s finally settled into the hospital. you think back to the treatment he recieved at his former hospital but you shoved those thoughts aside and nodded along to the stars in his eyes.

bennett would also be a frequent visitor of the hospital, always covered with scratches, gashes and bruises everywhere. you nag at him to be careful next time, though, you know he’ll be rushing in in a few days, but you don’t say that. poor boy is the unluckiest person you’ve met. once, when he walks into the ER casually, you asked him what happened this time and he says that he was in the forest exploring, tripped down a hill and splashed into a river. you’re glad it isn’t as bad this time.

just because he’s a family man, i think that childe would also be a child nurse heh. he can easily give the children the same energy back at them without much effort, but he knows when to put his foot down once things get out of hand. because he builds such a close relationship with the kids, he’s absolutely devastated when he learns a child doesn’t survive a surgery. he thinks of his own younger siblings and it breaks his heart even more. you can find him in the laundry room, where it’s quiet and only the whirs of the washing machine can cover up his chocked sobs. you allow him to have some days off because you know that if you don’t, he’d be more snappy and impatient with the children. you tell him that he becomes like this because it’s a coping mechanism he’s developed after experiencing such an intense feeling of grief. his mind wants to cut all relationships he’s built with the children so he doesn’t have to experience such a thing again. he denies it but you know he’s saying this in attempts to convince himself that he’s okay. he’s not. you tell him that death is not something anyone gets used to but instead become stronger against, after all, it’s part of his job and if he ever wants to change professions you’re happy to recommend him to other wards.

when she’s a baby, diluc messes up a lot

once he had to make her bottle four times because it was too hot or too cold or he forgot to put the bag inside of the bottle

but slowly, he adjusts to his new life and was often seen wearing his daughter in a wrap around his chest around mondstadt

he put aside his animosity with the knights of favonius for the sake of his daughter and only for the sake of his daughter

jean taught diluc how to do hairstyles other than a ponytail, like braiding and pigtails, and lisa gifted diluc a plethora of children’s books

diluc even let kaeya into her life, under supervision of course, because he realized it would be selfish to keep his daughter’s family away

his daughter really liked kaeya and although diluc would never admit it, he was glad

she befriends klee too and it makes diluc anxious,

she’s pretty self-sufficient even at four but diluc still babies her (because she’ll always be his baby, no matter how old she is)

he’s always buying her things even if she doesn’t need them

her toys are literally overflowing their bin and she rarely rewears clothes because diluc just buys her new outfits weekly

his daughter hides behind diluc’s legs 90% of the time they’re out in public

either that or she’ll tug on his arm until he lifts her up so she can sit on her hip and hide her face in his chest

she probably doesn’t like thunder so when it’s storming really bad, she’ll sneak out of her bed and crawl into diluc’s and hide under his blankets so when he wakes up there’s just a lump next to him

and some days when it’s really bad, she’ll wake him up so he can hold her and cover her ears from the loud sounds outside

diluc doesn’t yell

not that his daughter ever does anything to warrant yelling (he taught her to be very behaved) 

but she’s a kid and she can’t always be perfect so in the rare event that she’s in trouble, diluc will kneel down to her eye-level and scold her in a very calming, soft manor instead of being angry

he’s just super understanding and patient with her because he knows children need special attention

like if she’s sitting at the bar at angel’s share and she accidentally breaks a glass, diluc will just shrug his shoulders and tell her to be careful

diluc dances in the kitchen with her on saturday mornings and she has to stand on his feet so she doesn’t trip

and when he has to work the bar on weekend nights, his thoughts are filled with his daughter

he knows she’s okay and she’s probably having a fun time with barbara and jean but he just misses her

so when he gets home, he always gives her the biggest hug and only lets go when he feels her pushing his face away

diluc can only smile, wondering how he ever even considered giving away the light of his life
