My mom really loves to claim that medicines will help me in a way they objectively will not. "If you take an antiacid before eating meat and dairy, you won't get sick!" I won't get nauseous specifically, but I'm still going to get stomach pain and diarrhea because I'm still intolerant to that food. "If you do a nebulizer treatment, you'll stop coughing!" I'm coughing because of mucus in my throat, which the nebulizer medication does nothing to fix. Sure, it feels nice to take a treatment after coughing that much, but I'm going to keep coughing during and after it because it's not solving the root problem
