Aren Lorna Aeducan - The Warden-Commander
"If there is one thing of which I am certain, it is that Orzammar will continue to do what it has been doing for the last couple Ages: fade, at a melancholy, almost poetic pace."

Raymond Trevelyan (The Inquisitor)
And since going through my many notes is kinda fun, I wanna add another little snippet I never ended up writing up/publishing- I don't have nearly as much for Arie written as I do for Ray, but this one, I intended to be a conversation with (I believe) Anders, in the beginning of Awakening:
"Your last thought in the moment that wrongness touches your lips is crucial. It takes a hard soul and stainless will to hold against that corrosion- some have that, and some don't. Those are the lucky martyrs."
"You're not doing the best of jobs selling all of this to me."
The dwarf smiled. "I won't sugarcoat it; it's not the most pleasant feeling in the world, the way that... that foulness spreads inside you. It eats its way into your bones, turns you into a sickness in a suit of skin... It was the closest to a true death I've been so far, but I did not regret it for a single moment."
"... What did you think about?"
"Revenge," she said easily with a shrug, and her pleasant smile morphed into something far more bitter, an expression altogether darker that sat awkward, unsettling on her lips. "Not the most glamorous or heroic of thoughts, sure, but I thought about my father, and my brother's blood-soaked path to having his rotted ass on Orzammar's throne, and that... I believe that rage was what saved my life. That I refused to die without having committed the crime that killed me first."
