the universe must’ve thought sooji was a punchline, relishing the chance to laugh at her misfortunes like she was a character in a bad sitcom. she could practically hear the laugh track every time her life took a turn for the ridiculous. and right now, crammed into the backseat of a car with the entire league for some special business, she felt like the universe was rolling on the floor, doubled over in laughter.

if it had been jojo or even zak sitting on her lap, she could’ve endured the weight with some semblance of dignity. but no, of all people, it was kyumin, the one she often bickered with, the one who seemed to have a knack for pushing her buttons. his back pressed firmly against her cheek, and she couldn’t hold back her frustration any longer. “why are you the one sitting on my lap again?” she gripped, her voice a mix of annoyance and disbelief. “couldn’t you have chosen jojo or zak instead?”
