here I am on my way home from getting my car finally, gloriously cleaned by someone with the tools to do it well and SUDDENLY there is a mother cat with a TINY BABY CAT (5-6 weeks if it's a day) behind it running across the road. My mom is behind me so I slow down and stop just as the tiny kitten realizes a monstrosity beyond its comprehension is bearing down on it and it is in the middle of the deadly THUNDERPATH and it freezes. I pull my newly cleaned e-brake and run out into the road, waving frantically at the truck coming the other direction and trying desperately to herd the kitten OUT OF THE ROAD

kitten runs across the road in front of the truck I'm waving at, truck stops, does not hit either of us, I successfully herd the kitten up to a nearby tree and then into the plants outside the house I ASSUME it came from. I run back to my car and, at my mom's command wave thanks at the nice red truck that stopped and blocked traffic on the other side of the road for me.

we are all fine, everything is fine, the 5-week-old kitten is NOT a splatter on the road and neither am I but GOOD LORD, WHAT THE HECK
