What I expected reading The Dragon Republic: more conflict, espionage, moral panic and/or reasoning, trauma, substance abuse, more information about the pantheon, philosophy, politics, regicide, other things that would need content warnings if I got more specific

What I did not expect: The interference of a nation based on western nations that follow a religion similar to Christianity and are absolutely full of themselves and pompous

#I know this is based on 20th century history but also god the Hesperians are so full of themselves it’s annoying #the reason I say western nations is I can’t guess if they’re more British or American or just some conglomerate #just listening to them talk about their Maker and how Nikara is backwards and needs civilizing makes me want to puke #as someone who grew up southern baptist I would kick all and everyone of their asses i don’t care if one of them is Nezha’s mother #she’s a bitch and sister Petra gives me the absolute creeps in ways I cannot articulate #the dragon republic #r f kuang #wacka reads books
