When Itachi arrived to kill them, Mikoto had to fight every instinct she had not to defend her unborn child ━ and she did so for the sake of her eldest, who she knew was in so much pain already, Mikoto could only hope that Itachi wouldn't notice the child once she died and the curtain was destroyed, exposing the baby's tiny chakra network.
