One of the last tweets Refaat Alareer wrote was a quote tweet telling Kamala Harris that the president and her “democratic” party are responsible for the ongoing genocide in Palestine, a genocide that he was assassinated in three days later. I cannot and will not cheer for a Harris presidency, she is just as complicit as biden
#she was and still is parroting ‘israel has a right to defend itself’ bullshit#that’s what Refaat called her out on#she has stood by and watched this and other conflicts around the world at the hands of U.S. intervention unfold while laughing to camera#she takes every opportunity to chuckle#she says whatever lies they tell her to#she’s done nothing??? improved nothing?????#all she will do is maintain the status quo which I’m not sure if anyone’s noticed….but it’s shit#if she wins and does something unequivocally good then like dunk me in a vast of honey and push me down a hill#until then I’m just as skeptical and pissed as before#tired posts#kamala harris#us politics#us elections

Whether Biden dropped out due to pressure from the uncommitted vote and protests, I don't know, but ultimately protesting and withholding those votes in the primary did pay off given Kamala is the new nominee and at least she sees the pressure in it. It is still too little given she's just parroting the bullshit argument that "Israel has the right to defend itself" and that "They're working around the clock for a ceasefire" at the same time they're sending weapons to Israel as they continue to express genocidal intent. Now Kamala is in a much better position to win because of Biden dropping out, and in that same vein, Kamala actually doing something tangible instead of just bullshit statements the WH has made for months would just help her as I don't believe there are any hardcore pro-Israel voters that wouldn't already be voting for Trump already or would sway the election more than pro-Palestinian voters would.
To anyone considering not voting because of the Palestinian genocide, I have this to ask:
How many Palestinian people do you think you're helping by laying back and inviting the GOP to crush you under foot? Self flagellation didn't cure The Plague, and it won't fix this situation either.
If you don't like the idea of voting for Harris, I doubt I'll be able to change your mind, but consider this: 468 congressional seats out of a total 535 are up for re-election THIS NOVEMBER. You want to make the government start actually representing the will of the people? Start there.
We're living in frightening times, and apathy is a very comfortable state of being, but you need to act. If you don't, who will?
