Exactly~ especially because like… we know they’re still together. They just had Italy together. Harry was on tour with Louis. The peace ring was back. Holivia just broke up. They’re fine and together.

I do hope that Harry got to see Louis because I know as someone who was in a long distance relationship not being able to be there for your s/o when they have surgery or something is hard AND we know they’ve rearranged plans before to be with each other during times like this. Obviously both of them are in a work crunch right now and this was completely unplanned but 🤷🏼‍♀️ LA to NYC is really not that terrible of a flight for a seasoned traveler. My dad at his peak of traveling once went to Tokyo from NYC for a single day and then came home. He spent more time in the air than in Tokyo. Hell, Louis and Zayn went from Tokyo to LA for like a weekend in 2015. When people are like “oh it’s too far” I’m just like “lol no it’s really not”.

In short, we don’t have an hour by hour tracking of either of them. Travel is incredibly accessible to them and their perception of unreasonable travel is VASTLY different than ours.

It's not just the age difference. It's the complete and utter power imbalance. He's rich, famous, far more experienced (even when he was her age), male. She's some Danish kid who's fresh off the plane. And don't you think it's more likely that LTHQ flew her to LA specifically for this rather than she somehow got into a celebrity party before she'd even recovered from jet lag? And as if a young girl who had just come to LA and met famous folk wouldn't have posted on her insta. I do wonder how and when she was recruited.

okay well first of all she lives in LA and your whole "innocent girl imported from Denmark and doesn't even know what's going on" narrative is weird, but more to the point I think she's plenty old enough to make her own decisions around what she can handle by way of jetlag and other work choices, and that this is a weirdly condescending way to talk about an adult trying to make it in the entertainment industry. But more to the point- the power imbalance would be a potential issue IF THEY WERE DATING. But power imbalances between bosses and employees are not just normal, they are literally an integral part of that relationship. That's why it's gross and not okay for people in those positions to date! And if you're making an argument that it's also gross in work situations well listen, I'm an anti capitalist and I couldn't agree more, abolish wage labor and all of it, but a non famous non celeb person being an employee of a rich celeb is hardly a red flag in this society, and no more exploitative than most other jobs. The power imbalances around experience and status and wealth also exist between, like, Harry and his PA Luis for example, so why is this different and is she less able to make that call for herself? It seems to me that this is where you really see the parallels between how people view bearding and sex work- even people who say and think that they know it's fake still get all weird and puritanical about it and think it's just that little bit different from other jobs, that okay it's fake but like it's still kind of like it's real so dating rules apply! No: it's a job. It's not in a special category or personal or intimate: it's just a job. She's an influencer trying to make it and just got her big break (insta followers up 600% and counting in 12 hours!) and chose to take it, good for her. Do you think Louis and the other guys would thank you for denying them their big break as actual teens on the grounds that they were too young and inexperienced to handle it? With the experiences they had in the industry (and presumably would never perpetuate on someone else) and Louis' commitment to helping up and coming folks make it, to say nothing of his general caretaker tendencies and concern for young women he sees as his responsibility, I actually can't think of anyone I'd rather see someone in her position take a job like this with, she hit the fucking jackpot.

Talking out loud to myself about headcanons that will likely make their way into Mando/OC fic-writing stuff:

My #1 item of shipping kryptonite is pairings that are built around mutual respect, so I’m working on building/operationalizing that, around the extremely well-worn trope of trauma-related sleep disturbance.

-Welcome to your new home, which combines the worst aspects of a shitty efficiency apartment and commercial air travel, and is occupied by a magic toddler and two perpetually sleep-deprived adults.

-Mando and Atash catch each other rattling around the Razor Crest at weird hours, crawling through their daily routine, being abrupt or snappy with other people and they both do the plausible deniability “haha yeah you know how working an inconsistent schedule and permanent jetlag be, adult life whatcanyado amiright lmao...” and simultaneously, silently knowing with absolute certainty that the other is lying.

-It’s entirely likely that the Child takes matters into their own hands and starts alerting one party when the other is thrashing and crying out. They start working on some of the bog-standard practical process tree for sleep disturbances like having a regular bedtime routine “you know, for the Baby.”

-The procedure would be different if there was any chance in hell that he would talk openly about what was bothering him, but I think Atash probably starts planting small, subtle suggestions in Mando’s dreams that help him work toward lucid dreaming and being able to change the script of his nightmares. It’s a calculated risk; no one wants to feel like their head’s being messed with, especially not if you come from a culture that’s historically hostile to Force-adepts, so she keeps that kind of intervention as low-key as she possibly can and braces for the possibility of catastrophic, violent backfire.

-Mando grew up in a covert full of people doing various kinds of dysfunctional hypervigilance and has learned some ways to help. When Atash’s night terrors occur with predictable timing, he’ll strategically wake her up on the pretext of unavoidably loud ship maintenance or a baby emergency and short-circuit the behavior long enough for her to not be reenacting the galaxy’s worst manager one-on-one every night. Sometimes he just...literally sits guard and hopes she can sense that he’s there and she’s safe. She thinks he’s waiting to catch her sabotaging the ship or hurting the Child, but just as she’s worked on altering the course of his dreams, she comes to be able to deescalate her own because she can sense him nearby.
