I went to an art lyceum but they didn't teach me how to use brushes. I wish I was kidding
#and now I'm too lazy to learn :(#the only technique the teacher actually trie to teach was watercolour#but like. she had tought us how to mix colors already#and with watercolor it was just ''you have to add them on layers. and remember the white is the paper''#and that's really it#she made us copy a Tamara de Lempicka painting. with watercolour.#and then she made us paint an abstact design on rice paper. she just told us to buy the rice paper#I'm watching some videos rn and some people put wax on it??#she never made us use oils because they take too kuch time to dry which fair enough#but she never taught us how to use normal paints either#I don't know how teachers in art lyceums are on average but I feel like I've improved there only because I was forced to draw everyday#I learned how to do shadings in pencil and how to measure irl objects with the pencil. and it was another teacher who taught me that#like I sucked at italian but I recognise it was my fault. the teacher was fine#but the painting teacher I had for three years...
