Yoongi smirked as he turned off the news and settled down on the leather couch in Hybe's conference room. The other members smirked at each other before their manager, Bang Si-Hyuk, entered with a stern face. Their manager, no matter how wholesome and sweet he was in the public, knew exactly who and what BTS were behind the scenes. He was the one who passed it on to them. Yoongi's knowledge of Daegu sealed their fate the day they signed the contract with Big Hit. At the beginning, not a single one of the seven knew what was happening until Bang approached them with more opportunities that life as simple idols wouldn't be able to give them. Namjoon may be the leader of BTS, but it was Yoongi that dealt with the rest.
"I see you went through with it," Bang said as he sat down at the head of the table. "Mind telling me how you managed to find him in such a short amount of time?"
"I did it," Taehyung smirked as he looked at his manager. "Yoongi gave myself and my soldiers access to some of the things you left behind. The asshole was slick, I give you that. If it wasn't for Jungkook's keen eye, I would have never gotten Hyunsoo to tail him for as long as I had. Seokjin-Hyung pulled the trigger himself."
"And you managed to go to China to do that," Bang lifted his brow. "I don't see how that's possible."
"We didn't go to China. He was here. In Seoul," Seokjin added. "We don't know why he was here, but he knew he had been made. It was actually quite easy to get rid of him."
"How'd you get his body to Shanghai?"
"Jungkook's soldiers. Most of them are based in China to keep an eye out for other mafia that may come as a threat to us."
"For him to not fight is strange to me," Bang murmured. "Yoongi, are you going to look into this?"
"Already on it, sir," The mafia leader smiled back. "I should have some results by the end of the week."
"Even though I'm not the boss anymore, please keep me informed. I want to keep the authorities away as much as I can."
"Of course, sir."
"Now," Bang said while clapping his hands, "let's move on to more calm matters. Yoongi, your stylist Jaenie has put in her notice to leave the company. She and her husband have just found out that they're expecting twins and she'll need to be on bed rest due to her pre-existing health conditions."
"Aw, babies," Jungkook cooed, making the others laugh. "Good for her. I heard her telling Yoongi-hyung that they were trying."
"I'm happy for her," Yoongi grinned. The stereotype that surrounded Mafia leaders wasn't how Yoongi was. How you saw him on stage and on candid footage, that was him. Truly him. He wasn't mean or heartless to people that worked with him, his elders, his family or anything of the sort. The only time people knew how dark he was, was when the mafia side kicked in. He had his own persona. He was the infamous 'Tony Montana of South Korea' afterall. He only made people fear him when they needed it. That's why no one was brave enough to cross The Blood Kings.
"Which brings us to our next point," Bang said while pulling out a file. "Your replacement stylist will be starting tomorrow."
"But I thought Jaenie Noona would be here for two more weeks?"
"I told her to take these extra two weeks early. I'm paying her quadruple her usual salary and a hefty bonus to help with any things she needs for the babies. I also started them a trust fund because Jaenie has been one hell of a good employee."
"She dealt with Yoongi's hormonal early teenage years. You should have just given her the presidential medal of honor," Seokjin snickered. Yoongi shot him a go to hell look and then sighed.
"Yeah, you're probably right," he chuckled. "So, who is she?"
Bang opened the file and pulled out her resume.

"Damn. Are we hiring a stylist or recruiting someone into the mafia," Namjoon whistled as he looked down at all of the information. "She's smart."
"And broke," Taehyung said while crossing his arms. "She has two licenses and a huge degree. Why so little money?"
"She lives in Hannam, so it's all got to be going to normal bills. Relax, Taehyung. I checked her out and did a thorough background check. You know how I am about hiring people that know who you are as BTS." Bang pulled out her photograph and slid it across the table. "This is who will be coming tomorrow. I've given strict instructions to the staff if anyone else comes and does not match this picture, we'll be calling the police. I can't have you all exposed to crazy fans coming in here again or have anyone snooping in BK business."
Yoongi stared at her photograph and his mouth watered. She was exquisite, breathtaking. Nothing could come close to describing how beautiful she was. Her eyes were what drawed him in. They were beautiful...but somehow familiar.
"Hyung, pick your jaw up." Jimin bursted out laughing and snatched the picture from Yoongi's clutches. "She's hot."
"Coming from you, I know not to worry about you getting yourself in trouble with her," Bang said as he looked over his glasses. "Namjoon, Hoseok and Yoongi possibly. But not you."
"How do you know I won't try anything with her, Bang-ssi?"
Si-hyuk crossed his arms and lifted his brow. "I've known you for eleven years, Jimin. I also know that you and Hoseok are dating." Jimin and Hoseok are still in their chairs and look at the other members with wide eyes. "I also know that Namjoon and Jin and Taehyung and Jungkook are dating. You boys trying to hide everything from me has been a sight. Now stop pretending." Bang motioned from them to speak while six of the members looked like their manager had just shot their dog. "Look, I don't care what you all do. Jimin, Taehyung and Jungkook, I know you're gay. I'm your second father. I know these things. Just like I know that Hoseok is bisexual, Jin and Namjoon have never thought about dating the same sex until they met each other and Yoongi's pansexual. You all know this about each other. I'm sure you've all had your private talks. It's my job to know these things, boys. I don't care. You're all happy right?"
They all nodded in response.
"Great."
Yoongi's phone began to ring, jerking everyone out of the awkward atmosphere. "Fuck," Yoongi growled as he answered his phone. "What is it, Han?" Yoongi's hand gripped the table as Han related valuable information to him. His knuckles were white, face as cold as stone as he listened to Han break down everything that has happened over the last hour. He slammed his phone down and closed his eyes, taking in a deep breath. When they opened, Yoongi was gone.
The Mafia Boss was standing still as stone in his place, eyeing the members and his manager as he tried to steady his breathing.
"What is it, son," Bang said while standing up.
Yoongi chuckled and adjusted the rings on his finger.
"Seems like Yong Go Sil has someone taking over his mafia."
"Who?" The rest all stood waiting for further instruction.
"His daughter."

Summary: A story of a love triangle (not really)
Having a guy as your best friend can really be tricky sometimes because when you're both single, you spent almost every time together and you somehow unconsciously developing feeling for him. It get worst when you enrolled to the same college right after high school. It was okay at the first two or three semester, you had each other by your side through thick and thin, knowing more every little thing about each other just like the back of your hand which resulting you to fell harder for him. Your biggest mistake was you were sure he'll never slip off from your finger.
But he did.
And you let him.
You felt the painful prick inside in every flesh of your heart just by the sight of his beautiful glimmering eyes every single time she walks by. You swallowed the pain that is in the form of a thorn and pretend you're not affected by it at all, and you thanked heaven for blessing you with the art of hiding your true feeling for him. You even encourage him to make a move on her just to make you facade more believable.
What a fool.
Because it was the only way for you to keep him as your best friend at least, just to keep him close to you even if he doesn't like you the way you like him. But how wrong you are.
He made a move to talk to her and she seems to be interested too. But then again who doesn't, Changmin is one of the most talented and charming person in the campus, everyone loves him even the lecturer. In no time, they were together, they were lover and you had to watch every single day he hold her like the way you always crave for, the affection, the looks and the kiss. But you smiled anyway, each time you met his eyes, or hers. She became your friend too, you couldn't hate her at all.
“I’m fine.” You lied one day when he hesitated to run straight to her or stay with you by the time she came into the view at the cafeteria.
“Go ahead spend time with your girlfriend.” You said nudging him with a smile.
“I’ll call you tonight.” He ruffles your hair with an apologetic frown which you shake your head to and he run to her while she waved at you so innocently and you waved back with the sincerest smile you could pull even when your heart dropped down to your stomach leaving it's place painfully empty.
He didn't call that night. Or texted. The frequent chatting and long conversation between you two started to die down until he barely contact you anymore. You missed him, but there's nothing you could do to have him back. There is nothing you can do.
Each day he spend his free time with her and barely had any time with you anymore. but you didn't want him to feel bad so you started to hang out with other people even if its never the same like when you're with him, it will never be the same. but you need to accept the fact that you couldn't keep him for yourself anymore, you want him to be happy even if its not with you, even if his happiness breaks your heart.
You need to let go because all those late night conversation that you both been sharing, all his problems that you can't fix for him, all his inner battle that never seems to settled. You think maybe she could help to put it to ease because you know you can't. if you could, you wouldn't have heard the same ranting every night. So you keep your distance with him just so you wont break his relationship, so you wont take away their happiness.
“That’s nice.” You heard someone spoke from your back as you done putting up the pictures you took as told by your mentor at the bulletin board where all the art student displayed their work. You look back and saw a tall guy admiring your work and you step back a little to stand next doing the same thing. It was the picture you took at the Han river during your night walk alone.
“Is this yours?” he asked pointing to the picture glancing at you then back to it.
“yeah.” You answered simply, looking at the still picture of the city lights taken by the bridge with blurry passer by.
“It feels so lonely, but peaceful at the same time.” He spoke and you smiled looking down, it was true what he said, you felt so lonely but is somehow made you feel calm that you thought maybe letting him go was the right thing. He's never been yours from the start.
“I'm Hyunjae by the way.” He held out his hand and you look up to his face which had the sweetest smile on that made you smile back and took his hand.
“I’m Y/N.”
Hyunjae took no time to be your friend, he was easy to talk to and you love his company. Slowly, you manage to bury your feeling for Changmin deeper day by day and Hyunjae did so much to replace him. Somehow he did it, he didn't have anything in common with Changmin but you like the challenge of knowing him anyway, it was always new thing every day, a pleasant surprise.
“Y/N.” Hyunjae chirped startling you in the process and he laugh at the way you flustered making you hit his shoulder lightly.
“What are you doing?” He asked taking a seat next to you at the cafeteria.
“Nothing, just editing these.” You pull the side of your laptop a little to show him your work and he lean over to take a closer look.
“You really are a talented photographer.” He complimented making you pushed his shoulder bashfully.
“hey i was wondering.” He leaned back to his seat pondering with his words, looking down to his hands while you paid full attention to him.
“I've got ticket for next week music festival.”
“Really? I didn't manage to get mine though, they've sold out weeks ago.” You frowned
“I got two ticket you know. So.. maybe.. you want to come with me?” you laughed at the way he adorably dragging his words and he grinned sheepishly.
“I’d love to.” You smiled and he did too staring into your eyes for a while before looking away bashfully. He had completely filled the void and help you put back you heart into its place, ready to love again. But you wait. You wait for it to heal perfectly so you can love Hyunjae with all of it without having Changmin ever crossing your mind anymore.
“You’re going with who?”
Changmin voice raised a little when you told him you're going to the music festival with Hyunjae. Its been a while since you both get to spend time with each other, you were finally feeling genuinely fine by it now that you have Hyunjae by your side. Its already the music festival week and Changmin probably didn’t want you to feel left out so he ask you to come along with his girlfriend. But when you said you already have a date, he was a little mad making you wondering, giving the sparks of feeling for him that you buried deep down a light. A dim light, but enough for it to slowly crawling back to the surface, but you ignore it.
“Why?” You asked, still walking a step ahead from him to the cafeteria.
“Since when do you became close with him?”
“Just recently, wait. It think its been two months.” You shrugged and he exhaled.
“Do you like him?” He asked suddenly making you stop on your track stepping a little to the side before turning back to look at him questioningly. You were actually asking him mentally ‘Are you jealous?’ but another word came out instead.
“He's a nice guy and what's wrong with that?”
“Be honest, you hang out with him just because i started dating aren't you?” you were taken aback a little by his words. It was true at first, you were hanging out with Hyunjae so you didn't feel empty anymore. But when time passed, he's been growing so much in you and you're started to fall for him.
“What? No Ji Changmin, as far as I could remember I have the right to date anyone I want my friend.”
“What?” He raised his voice again and you hissed at him playfully rolling your eyes.
“Hey.” You heard Hyunjae from the back snaking his hands around your waist pulling you close to him until your back touches his front and you look up to him instantly with a big smile.
“Hey you.” You coos ignoring Changmin who was crossing his arms on his chest in annoyance by the sight of Hyunjae hands casually touch you.
“I’ll pick you up tonight at eight okay.” He smiled sweetly making the butterflies inside you to rise full with pride.
“Alright I see you tonight.” You touch his shoulder trailing your hand down to his chest as he peck your cheek before letting him run to his friends. You look back to Changmin who was raising his eyebrow.
“What?” you chuckle continue walking to the cafeteria.
“I don't like him.” He stated
“that’s not nice Changmin, you barely know the guy.”
“its just been two month and he already being touchy with you and you let him kiss you.”
“It just a peck Changmin. Stop being over protective.” You shake your head trying to laugh him off.
“And besides, two month is enough even for us to sleep together.” You shrugged making his eyes widen in pure shock at your words.
“You what?!”
“I was just kidding you idiot.”
It has been full three month since Hyunjae first talked to you and you decided to confess to him. Your feeling for him was crystal clear and you had no doubt about his feeling for you. He had untie the tight knot that was constantly pulled every time you saw Changmin with his girlfriend until you felt nothing but happy for them.
In those three months, Changmin had slowly fades from you even when he was right in front of you or when they were standing in the same room, the first who catches you attention was no longer Changmin, it was Hyunjae. You were lying if the feeling for him had completely gone, but your feeling for Hyunjae were much more prominent and you were happy
“Are you going to the trip to see the cherry blossom?” Hyunjae asked when you both were having lunch at your usual spot at the cafeteria.
“I think so.” You answered still checking the picture you took leaving your food untouched.
“Yah, enough with the camera.” He whined attempting to take the camera away from your hand but you saw what he was going to do and turn your back on him with a giggle.
“Wait, I need to delete some picture first or else I’m going to forget which one to delete.” You reason out stopping him from taking it away.
“let me see then.” He leaned his chin on your shoulder and you showed it to him one by one.
“No don’t delete that, its beautiful.” He pointed out at the picture of the blurry crowd you took while you both was walking down the Itaewon streets and you looked to your side until your lips almost brushed his cheek, but he backed away just enough to give you space to turn your body.
“Its kind a blurry don't you think?” You showed a few picture with the same scenery until your head bumped into each other when you lean in trying to show him and you both laughed. his hand caressed the spot where his head had bumped.
“You always took a blurry picture and its nice, its your style, or signature.” He said while patting your head and you smile at him, thanking him for his sweet words.
“You want to go with me?” He asked again since you didn’t answer him yet, and you chuckle looking up to him, he was smiling like an angel waiting for you to answer.
“Who else am i going with.” You smiled and he smile back giddily crushing you with his bear hug.
“But why did you sounds like i am the only option? What about your friends?” he asked pulling his body away for a little with a frown.
“If you want me to go with them, then i’ll go with them.” You shrugged making him whined.
“no. I was just asking.” He pulled you back to his hug and you giggled ruffling his hair.
“I’m planning to take my mom’s car so we wont have to rush the bus and trains.” He let you go, pulling your food closer to you gesturing you to start eating and you complied by placing your camera on the table.
“What? Its going to more exciting taking trains and bus with other students don’t you think?” you suggested, imagining you taking picture of people having fun in the train.
“Hadong is a huge place, the last bus going to leave at six. You think its enough time? Besides i want to watch the stars from there, they said the sky is the prettiest there during the night.”
“We can spend the night there and catch the bus next morning.” You suggested making him stop mixing his rice looking at you all flustered.
“What?” you teased bumping your shoulder into his.
“If you okay with it then why not.” He scratch the back of his head nervously and a big smile creep on your face just by the sight of his giddiness. You turn back to your food and ate in silence with him doing the same. He really had been growing so much in you.
Far back from the corner of the cafeteria, there stood Changmin witnessing everything that tug something painful inside of him. He shake the feeling away and walked to the opposite side of your spot sitting with his back facing you and Hyunjae trying so hard to ignore the growing pain inside of him.
The long ride to Hadong was fun just like you imagined, all the students starts singing out of no where using anything as an instrument and you had a good laugh when some of then cracking the most stupid joke. You took some picture here and there and the result came out well. You and Hyunjae took extra clothes just as planned to spend the night and you really excited to see the whole thing.
It was beautiful, the place was filled with pink cherry blossom blooming beautifully and the way the flower flew when the wind blow just like a snow. Cherry blossom snow. It really felt like a movie with you standing under a cherry blossom tree with Hyunjae holding your waist while you taking picture. He will rest his chin on your shoulder everytime you show the result to him. If you had to describe how your feeling for Hyunjae, you will call it a blooming cheery blossoms.
“watch your step, there’s plenty of rocks and pebbles along the way.” He said handing you your twisted potato after helping you settles on the bench not far from where you both were standing.
You both walked until the end of the cherry blossom path where you saw a river and there's a kayak booth which you pull Hyunjae sleeves running a little in excitement, wanting to give it a try with Hyunjae giggling while being dragged by you.
But a voice stopped you from running, it was a familiar voice. You look back to see Changmin and his girlfriend rushing to both of you.
“What in the hell are you doing?” he huffed annoyingly at you not even sparing any look to your boyfriend and you were offended by the way he spoke.
“What does that supposed to mean?”
“you missed the bus.”
“And you're not?” You spat back annoyingly taking a step forward, your eyebrow twitched and he scoffed at your response thickening the tension between both of you.
He was beginning to get into your nerve since you started to date Hyunjae.
“We were there at the bus but he insisted waiting for both of you.” His girlfriend explained and you couldn't help to feel bad for her.
“We were planning to stay the night.” Hyunjae stepped forward pulling you back closer to him and you noticed the frown on Changmin's face when he did that. Was that jealousy? Had he figured that he had feelings for you too? But Hyunjae's grip on your arm pulled you out from that thoughts and you look back to him pressing your lips into a thin line, forming a smile.
“We will take the first bus tomorrow morning.” You said to Changmin's girlfriend trying to assure her by rubbing her arm and she nod with a smile.
“Okay where are you going to crash for tonight?” changmin spat with his annoying tone that really got into your nerve.
“I’ve booked a place for us, but i'm sure they have more place.”
“We should stick together.”
“Fine.”
For the first time in your life, you feel annoyed by Changmin's presence where he constantly interfere any attempted affection that you and Hyunjae trying to make while he trying to show off his own with his girlfriend which end up annoying her too.
“We should stop by the store first.” Hyunjae suggested and you nod while waiting for the bus to the motel.
“I'm tired, can we just go straight to the motel.” Changmin whined and you rolled your eyes shooting him an annoyed look and he just shrugged.
“you two can check in first, they had some place for barbeque at the garden by the hotel and we were planning to have one while watching the stars.” You told his girlfriend and she looked excited.
“So romantic.” she coos and you lean your shoulder to Hyunjae who was smiling at you.
“They said the night sky are the best here.” He throw his hand on your shoulder pulling you closer to him letting you snuggles to his chest.
“You can join us if you want.” he suggested to Changmin and his girlfriend which you shot him a look with a frown.
“What? Its going to be fun and i can get to know your best friend more.” He whispered and you melted at the way how hard he tried to get close to your best friend.
“Thank you.” You caress his hands with your thumb smiling up to him and he smiles back like he always did.
The night went well, but the conversation was mainly between you and Hyunjae while Changmin and his girlfriend seems to fall into silence only talk when being asked. You stop Hyunjae from trying to get close to Changmin by snuggling with him under the blanket where you brought just for the occasion while watching the stars.
You admired him while he was admiring the scattered stars up in the sky, looking at it like he was in love with it just like you're in love with him.
“Y/N can you walk me to my room for a while?” Changmin snaps you away from the most beautiful view and you sighed. He was tipsy from drinking a little too much and you could tell.
“Its okay, I'll clean this up and meet you at the room right after.” Hyunjae said helping you getting up and you nod letting him peck your forehead before leading Changmin into the building.
“Are you going to sleep with him?” Changmin asked suddenly after you both were inside the building.
“Yes.” You answered in a heartbeat even if you don't know whether Hyunjae is having the same idea with you, but you admit it anyway just so Changmin will stop bothering you.
“If i told you not to would you listen to me?” he stop walking making you stop turning your body fully to face him.
“Why?”
“Because I love you.” He said, petrifying you with his words, it was the word you had been waiting for years, a words that you always pray for so he will uttered it to you one day. a word that you’ve been dying to hear.
But that was before, that was you dream before Hyunjae and you were glad that it doesn't affect you like the way you thought it will be.
“I know you love me too. I know you love me since so long and i'm sorry for pretending that i didn't see it.” He took a few step closer to you but you didn't flinch. There were disappointment, but it doesn’t matter to you anymore. you didn’t care why he didn't do anything about it and keep it to himself. but you were curious.
“Why did you date her if you knew?”
“Because i thought i didn't feel the same way.” You exhaled at his answer looking down not knowing what to say or what to do with that information. But then he lift your chin with his index finger and leaned closer to kiss you.
You let him kiss you not knowing there's a pair of eyes that has been witnessing everything. When you kissed Changmin back, he shut his eyes only to see you smile to the kiss the moment he open his eyes. Couldn’t bear the pain in his chest anymore, he walked away from the scene.
“Changmin we had our chance.” You slowly push his body away from you, pulling yourself away from the dizzying kiss. It put your mind into a great mess, that your mind keeps buzzing like a static radio. but when other thing was blurry and hazy, one thing that stood out so clear, just like the picture you always took. it was your feeling for Hyunjae.
“Y/N please.” He took your hand placing it on his chest.
“You had your chance in all those years to confess but you didn't.” You let go of his hands holding your own.
“I'm not blaming you entirely because its my fault too for being a coward. But we had our chance Changmin, and we blew it.”
“and i'm in love with somebody else.”
“i’m in love with Hyunjae.”
“He saw us kissed.”
“No.”
“He just left.”
“You asshole. It was intentional wasn't it?”
“I just had to.”
“Hyunjae.” You called softly after entering the room that you both shared. He was sitting on the edge of the bed, looking down to his hands. Nervousness starting to creep inside you by the sight and the silence from him. You stood there by the door looking down at your feet, hands fidgeting with the rim of your dress.
“You should sleep, we need to catch the first bus in the morning.” He said standing up with blanket on his hands walking to the couch just right next to the bed without looking at you. But you didn’t budge, still looking down like a kid getting scolded by their parents for causing a big trouble.
You bit your lips hard when tears starts to brimmed in your eyes. You didn’t even dare to blink, not wanting the tears to fall.
“I’m tired, can you turn off the light please.” He said and you look up to where he already lay down, covering his body using the blanket, his back facing you. You hold your sniffles and do as told leaving the room in pitch black.
“Hyunjae.” Your voice cracked and you swallow hard to make it easier your you to speak.
“I-I am so-”
“I’m tired Y/N. Please, let me rest. Its been a long day.” He cut your words, but not sharp enough. But it still hurts you. It hurts you because you hurt him and you didn’t even know how to explain.
With the help of the lights peeking through the window, you slowly walked to your bag and take your clean clothes and toiletries.
You turn on the shower letting the warm water run down your skin while you stood there looking into spaces not long before you break down, covering your mouth not wanting to be heard by him. It was the longest you ever cried, longer than the day Changmin asked his girlfriend out. It was even longer than when you bid your goodbye to your parents at the airport.
God, how much you love him, and now you’re losing him.
Hyunjae haven't spoke a word to you since the bus ride back to the city and you didn't dare to speak to him either. The ride was awfully silent and you could hear Changmin and his girlfriend giggled from the back seat. You couldn't help to think that they were mocking you both but you know they weren't. You suddenly feels empty without Hyunjae's constantly touching you like he always did when he's being excited over something or just feeling like touching you, or teasing you. He didn't even whined when you too immersed into the picture you took with your camera. You felt emptier than the time Changmin left you.
You didn't blame him for cutting every connection between you two after breaking up with you over a text and let you fall back to the loneliness. You didn't blame Changmin for not even consoling you after he heard the news of your break up with Hyunjae. You blame yourself for being you, you blame yourself for existing, for hurting people who had no other intention but to love you and you deserve the resentment that you get from him. You blame yourself for not figuring out your feelings for Hyunjae and didn't try hard enough to make him stay.
You were back to zero, alone at the cafeteria watching people and love birds walking around then get back to your pictures on your laptop ignoring the painful void inside of your heart.
You bumped into him the day after the break up, you didn't look away when you both walk past each other at the hall, neither did him. But he seems to had those indifferent look as soon as his eyes laid on you and you try hard not to show too much emotion when he's around. But it was hard, because you always saw him even when you’re not looking.
“Y/N, the portfolio that you emailed me. It was perfect. The four season portfolio.” Your mentor spoke when he saw you just about started to pack your things while your other class mate had already left. Its your routine since the break up, so you wont bumping into Hyunjae because your afternoon class always ends at the same time as his.
“It wasn't complete yet Mr Yoon. I was waiting for your feedback for anything that i should fix or re-edit.” You look up to him slinging your bag on your shoulder.
“I’ll send you my feedback later.” He said and you give him a bow.
“Y/N, I was wondering.” Mr. Yoon voice stopped you from turning on your heels and you look at him. waiting for him to finish his sentence.
“have you been fine these day?” He asked leaning his back on the desk, crossing his arm on his chest.
“Yes. Why do you ask Mr.Yoon?”
“I knew you're running a photography blog for a long time, i have to admit it was wonderful and i even think that some of the photo you posted there should have come in with the portfolio. But you recent photo, they seems lonely.” He stop when you looked down. He must have seen your blog update, but you didn't know that it was obvious. He's your mentor and also one of the psychology professor that taught about behavior, of course he could see it.
“I’m fine Mr.Yoon.” you finally look up to him with a forced smile. “Its just life-” your breath hitched and you swallowed hard trying not to choke on your own words.
“Its just life, those ups and down.” You inhaled looking back down avoiding his gaze.
“Don’t let yourself dwell too long in it Y/N. Its okay to look back sometimes, it hard. Even if our shoes don't fit, we had our own obstacle in life, we have our own way to move on. But i hope you'll cope.” You smile to his words before bowing to him as he bid you goodbye.
You went to Itaewon alone that night taking the path that both of you and Hyunjae had been taking, tracing back all the fond memories that you shared. You even went back to Hadong alone on the weekend doing the same thing you did with him, taking picture of empty spot where it used to be filled by him. It was sad. But you need to cope. Once you had your best friend, then you have Hyunjae. But when they both left, you had nothing. Only their memories. But the most prominent one is Hyunjae's. You want to relive them for the last time before moving on.
Its the hardest every time he saw you smiling and laughing at your friend's joke. He missed that and he still want to be the one who make you laugh. He hate you for being happy right after the break up, did you really moved on that fast? Did you really don't have any feeling for him? Or did you really using him to get back to Changmin?
But there were also time when he saw you sitting alone at the cafeteria, watching people walks by with sad eyes before going back to your laptop or your camera leaving your food untouched and it made his stomach sinks in guilt. The sight take him back to the night where he heard your sniffles echoes inside the bathroom that the sound of the shower couldn’t hide.
You loved someone else and its no point to keep you if your heart is unobtainable from the start.
“Hyung, why did you break up with Y/N?” Juyeon asked when he saw you walk into the cafeteria alone with your hands full with books and headphones on. He didn't want to answer that question. He's been dreading to answer when everyone asked, he's tired of hearing people saying that you both look good together and all.
“We're taking a break.”
Its the only thing he could came up with without humiliating you or him. Its sounds like he was expecting you to come back to him, it was an open answer, it was a message for you maybe one day when you heard what he said regarding your relationship, maybe. Just maybe you change your mind and come back to him.
It was pathetic and he know it, but the romance was short, so short that he wanted more. While he was trying to look away from staring at you, he saw Changmin seated a few table away from where he was and he was expecting Changmin to get up and help you with the pile of books on your hand.
But instead, Changmin didn't even look up from his phone and you didn't even spare him a glance, just walking straight to the far corner of the cafeteria settling your stuff on the table, sitting down and played with your phone without looking around.
“Hyung?” Juyeon snaps him away from staring at you and stammered at the younger guy.
“Get back with her if you want to keep looking at her like that.” He stated and Hyunjae just shrugged him off.
‘Weird' he thought, he swears he saw you kissed Changmin back that night. You even smiled to the kiss, but why are you both giving each other a cold shoulder. Why aren't you both together when Changmin said he loves you and he said you love him too. It hurt him when you didn't even denied it, he hate you for kissing him when you were his girlfriend.
He heard your voice in the art studio after helping a random girl who was carrying too much of a canvas for painting she said. He stood there just like the other day when you were talking to your professor.
“Is it true that everybody dies alone?” You asked, you sounded so weak, the light in your eyes faded by each passing day. At first he thought you were still saddened by the way Changmin still with his girlfriend but when he confront Changmin one day.
“We had our chance but I blew it. She's in love with someone else.” -changmin
But that is all what he get from the guy, Changmin still didn't want to talk to him. He started to think that you love him, not Changmin. But he wasn't really sure either, if your relationships mattered to you, you should have talk him out not ignoring him, so he did the same. Ignoring you even how painful it was knowing the truth that you love him.
“Does that scares you?” Kevin asks taking your attention away from the window where you both propped your chin on your palm on one of the table nearest to the window while sitting down watching the sun sets.
“I don't want to be alone.” You whispered under your breath but it was clear, so clear that it hurts Hyunjae at your words.
“You missed him?”
“I do. So much that it hurts.”
“Why didn't you tell him the truth?”
“He saw me kissed Changmin back. If you're at his place would you listen to me when I try to explain?”
“No.”
“I’ve made myself a fool enough by kissing Changmin back.”
“Why did you kiss him back?”
“You know how I feel about him before. It was a dream to kiss him.” you chuckle while Kevin scoffed at your words.
“But the thing is, when i kissed him, i was thinking about Hyunjae as soon as i closed my eyes.” You smiled.
“Its just that, i finally know that love doesn't feel the same way with each person.”
“What do you mean”
“when i was in love with changmin it felt like home every time im with him. Maybe Its because he provides me one when i move back here during high school, he gave me something to rely on when i had no one, or when my brother was too occupied by his baseball. Then Hyunjae came when there’s a hole in my chest, my heart that once there was gone when Changmin left, Hyunjae starts to fill it again, slowly but in a beautiful way. He made me feel alive again. At first i thought it wasn't love because it felt so different from Changmin’s. But i get it now, love doesn't come with one specific shape or sizes.” You sit straight stretching your limbs leaning back to the chair to ease your back.
“Love is an abstract, you can't see it, you can't feel it but you know its there, you know it exist. it changes through times. Its like painting, you put down whenever comes through your mind freely on the canvas, sometimes it look nice and sometimes it doesn't. people might don't understands what we're trying to convey but it doesn't matter, as long as we knew what is it, what it means to us.” You smiled looking down staring at you clasped cold hand before glancing to your friend next to you and he looked disgusted, making you giggled at his expression.
“You are disgustingly in love. Tell him you idiot.” Kevin throw his head back with a grunt and you laugh him off.
“I don't know Kev, I’m just scared. I'm afraid because what I did was wrong. Its wrong kissing someone else just to figure out who do you love. Its pathetic. Stupid.” You exhaled looking back to the dark outside world, wondering what is he doing right now. Who is he with, did he replace you yet, or did he suffers just like how you did. You chuckled to the last thought thinking why would he suffers for the one who treated him just like you did.
“He probably don't like me anymore.” You wanted to say hate, but 'like' probably could hurt less when you said it out loud.
“I never said that.” You and Kevin eyes snaps wide open when you heard another voice instead of both of you echoes from the silence. You know that voice and when you saw Kevin eyes were fixed to someone at your back, you didn't dare to look back.
“Okay imma go.” Kevin took his bag and phone, standing up and was about to leave you, but you manage to get a grip on his wrist.
“Don’t you dare.” You warned but he just smile and wiggled his wrist away from your strong grip and when you let go, he pat your head with an assuring smile.
“This is your chance, don't waste it.” He stroke your hair softly, smiling to Hyunjae with a curt nod before walking to the exit leaving you both in the studio in silence.
“Sorry i didn't mean to eavesdrop.” He said voice coming closer with his footsteps and you still didn't dare to look back. Your body numbed while your heart pounded so hard that you were sure your chest could explode anytime.
“Y/N.” He called softly when he appeared in you peripheral view, kneeling right next to where you were seated, you shut your eyes tight not dare to look at him.
“Sorry I didn't give you any chance to explain.”
“Sorry.” He repeated again but you still too scared to look at him.
“would you please look at me.” You felt his touch on your cold hand and you turn your head slowly, meeting his beautiful gaze. It was different from the past few week where they were cold and uninviting. But right now, his gaze was soft, warm and pleading.
“Hyunjae.” You whispered, holding his hand and he hold yours tighter.
“Can we please start over again?” he said, almost pleading melting you
“Even after what I’ve done?” you tilt your head to the side and he smiles wider bringing his one hand to your cheek, caressing it slowly with his thumb.
“As long as you love me.” He said and if your muscle wasn't strong enough, your heart could probably explode from the happiness.
“I do.” You crashed your body into him so hard that he almost stumbled back but manage to balance his body.
“I love you so much Hyunjae and I'm sorry for being an idiot. You can kiss other girl once and i dont mind.” You pull away, with your hand still rested on his shoulder, kneeling in front of him.
“Why would i want to kiss other girl?” he frowned and you stuttered.
“Just so we can even out or-“ he didn't let you finish by capturing your lips into his own and you kiss him back in a heartbeat feeling his lips moulded perfectly into your own into a long kiss.
“Let me kiss that pretty lips everyday and we're even.” He said after pulling away to catch his breath and rest his forehead on yours and you smiled breathlessly.
"Anything for my amazing boyfriend."

RFA with a royal MC 👑
Quarantine has thrown me back into my old fandoms, as I’m sure it has for many, and I’ve been reading Mysme headcannons all week so I thought I’d throw my hat back into the ring
Yoosung
Yoosung’s been working for the royals since the day he was born, being from a poor family
His parents were the personal servants for the king and queen back in the day, that’s how they met.
Naturally, when the two best servants of the castle had a son, they had their eyes on the boy
Rika was Yoosung’s mentor and taught him all he needed to know to get comfortable in the palace
He still can’t cook though
“Rika look what I made!”
“...Yoosung are you trying to poison the princess?”
“Princess??”
The first time Yoosung meets you, he bumps into you in the corridor carrying a load of clean sheets
You both end up on the floor, sheets flying everywhere don’t worry Yoosung Jaehee will take care of it
The poor boy is already apologising before he even looks up and realises who he just bumped into
Now he’s not just sorry-
He’s horrified
He knocked over the princess!!!1!
Immediately he’s on his knees, gathering up the sheets and apologising over and over- poor boy looks like he’s about to cry.
But you aren’t angry at him. No- you start to laugh
“Mistakes happen! It’s okay- here let me help you!”
Yoosung watches in awe as the princess starts to help collect the laundry for him
She’s not meant to do that?!?
“I-it’s okay it was my fault-“
“Nonsense. I wasn’t watching where I was going, I am just as much at fault as you are, okay? No hard feelings!”
And then she
giggles
Yoosung’s down for the count- game over
He meets you again the next day and his face just bursts into a bright shade of red
“It’s you again! Looks like we keep bumping into each other, huh?”
Hahaha kill me now Rika quick my heart can’t take this
It takes Yoosung a few weeks to get used to seeing you around the palace without making a total moron of himself every time
You even manage to have a few delightful conversations before you’re whisked away for some royal duty
It took even longer for him to actually introduce himself to you
“Yoosung? What a sweet name...”

Zen
You already know this dork is the most famous actor in the whole village
He puts on a play every week in the town square and the people love it
He eats up all the ladies’ attention, I mean,,
Are any of us surprised?
“Zen! You were amazing tonight! If I didn’t know any better I’d say you’d even have impressed the princess if she saw you!”
Little did he know, she did see
When you heard about this so called ‘handsome actor’ down in the village of course you were going to go investigate for yourself
With the help of some of the maids who you confided in Jaehee, you manage to sneak down into a village just in time to see the performance for yourself
Naturally, you were hooked
Good job Zen you made the princess horny have a cookie
Of course Zen continues to perform every week, non the wiser to the newest addition to the audience
That was until one night where you accidentally locked gazes with eachother and he saw this girl smile for the first time
Dumb bitch forgot his next line and got a deadly glare from his co-star
After the performance, Zen immediately ran into the audience, ignoring the swarm of fans that surrounded him as he looked around for the girl he saw in the audience
In that brief moment, Zen was so entranced by her that she hadn’t left his thoughts since. She was so beautiful, she even reminded him of the princess.
Funny how that is
That’s when he spots you, diving into the dark streets of the village in a dark cloak
“Excuse me- yes I’m so glad you enjoyed it- yes- excuse me- coming through!”
He pushes past all the fan girls and full on sprints after the princess, ignoring the shouts coming from behind him.
This lovesick fool is convinced he just met the love of his life and he wasn’t about to let her get away
Eventually he manages to catch up to you and grabs your shoulder before you can leave again, giving him a brief moment to catch his breath.
“Why princess, leaving so soon? I never even got a chance to say hello~”
He meant it as a flirt.
He didn’t expect to look up and be talking to the actual princess
Shit fuck shit shit oh fuck-
“I- I mean- um-“
“They did warn me you were bold...”
You tease him with a small smirk on your face, watching Zen’s face morph into panic upon realising who you were.
“I normally hate being called princess... I’m open to making exceptions however. Your performance was incredible.”
You lean forward just then and place a chaste kiss on the actor’s cheek, pulling away with a small blush on your face.
“Perhaps we’ll meet again at your next one.”
And just like that- she’s gone
Zen is left in the empty streets, stunned, flustered, and completely convinced this princess was going to be the death of him.
Regardless, he’s practicing for next week’s performance before he even gets back home
Jaehee
Everyone in the royal family knows that maid Jaehee is the best in the kingdom.
She’s perfect at her job in every way, and always knows how to make the royals feel as comfortable as possible living in the castle.
Need something cleaned up? Call for Jaehee.
This food doesn’t taste quite right? Call for Jaehee.
Princess needs a personal maid? Call for Jaehee.
When the king and queen first approached Jaehee on the subject, she initially refused, telling them that although she was extremely flattered they had thought of her, she didn’t want to abandon the rest of the duties around the castle.
But the king and queen insisted, only wanting someone they trusted to help their daughter.
And who would be stupid enough to deny a request from the royals themselves
Jaehee was forced to accept the position.
It was difficult having to adjust her priorities with the new job. Jaehee no longer was in charge of the castle as a whole, but rather her focus had to be entirely revolved around you at all times.
Though you were incredibly nice to her, she tried her best to keep things professional as one should. She never spoke up, never crossed her line as a maid and always did her job perfectly.
....at first
One night, you requested for Jaehee to accompany you on a walk around the castle, and of course the girl was happy to oblige.
She quietly listened as you rambled on, talking about your passions, listing all the things you had to do that day, etc.
Everything was fine until Jaehee spotted a rather shady individual approaching you two from behind, but was a second too late in realising they had a knife.
Within an instant, they aimed the blade at Jaehee’s throat and ordered the princess to come with them peacefully, or the maid ‘gets it’
Oh no honey, you don’t threaten Baehee
This girl takes down the man in a flash, barely giving you time to realise what had just happened before guards were surrounding them.
“Oh I- I learnt a few martial arts moves from the knights when I was younger.. it was simply a hobby..”
“YOU HAVE TO TEACH ME JAEHEE!”
“I couldn’t possibly Princess-“
“PLEASE!”
....
The next thing she knew, the princess and her maid would sneak out every night for private self defence lessons
The maid grew to look forward to those evenings, the one-on-one time with eachother giving you and Jaehee time to bond and properly grow as friends rather than simply working under the professional environment of the castle.
Jaehee was able to relax and show her true colours to the woman she was dedicating her live to every day, which only made your ‘friendship’ stronger.
“My father told me today that he’d have to start looking for suitors for me to marry soon..”
“Oh... have you got anyone in mind, your highness.” Why do I feel so upset
“...perhaps.”
You never spoke of that conversation again.
That didn’t stop it from keeping Jaehee up at night though
Jumin
Oh this boy is already a royal. I mean.. do I need to explain myself?
You and Jumin actually met when you were just children, your families visiting eachother often in order to form alliances.
Everyone always said how cute of a couple you two would make when you were older, cooing over the two children who just wanted to play swords.
Let the children play swords King Han come on!
Eventually, the alliance that Jumin’s kingdom and your kingdom had broke apart over petty quarrels, and the two children were ripped apart, likely never to meet again.
“Jumin!! I don’t want you to go... I thought we were going to play king and queens...”
“Don’t worry MC, I’ll become the greatest king of my kingdom, and then I can visit you whenever I want. Doesn’t that sound wonderful?”
...
As the years flew by, Jumin’s childhood friend became nothing but a distant memory, his future as king being his primary focus.
His father was constantly bringing many woman into the castle, claiming to his son that she could be the new queen until she disappeared a few weeks later when he got bored of her.
It made Jumin despise the idea of marriage, making a silent promise to himself that he would never marry once he was on the throne, no matter how many woman threw themselves at his feet.
One day, King Han recieved message that another woman had arrived at the castle, asking to visit the prince.
Jumin initially marked it off as another woman trying to convince him to marry them so they could become princess, and told his father he was not interested.
“My son, one day you will take over this kingdom of mine, and when that time comes you will need a woman to help you bear an heir. Send her in!”
Mr-I-Won’t-Marry remained in his chambers during the woman’s visit, refusing to even give her the piece of his attention.
But he couldn’t avoid her forever, eventually having to leave for supper, where he discovered the woman having a polite conversation with his father.
Great. Another one had fallen for his tricks.
“If you have come here to attempt to marry into the royal family, I suggest you leave this instant before I call the guards.”
“Oh Jumin.. you don’t recognise me do you? It has been a long time. You haven’t forgotten me entirely, have you?
“.....MC?”
Surely enough, once the pieces began to fall into place, Jumin instantly recognised the kind and beautiful woman standing before him.
How could he possibly forget such beauty?
“I’ll leave you two alone to catch up! It has certainly been a while, princess. Please make yourself at home.” Use protection son
Once you and Jumin had started talking, he quickly fell into his old habits of conversating with the princess, having forgotten how easy it was.
“Remember when you told me you would become the greatest king of this kingdom Jumin? Oh naive we were back then..”
“Yes. Though I still plan on taking over my father as soon as possible. I think it is about time that the contract of our kingdoms’ alliance is revisited, don’t you?”
“I couldn’t agree more.”
Saeyoung
Every good kingdom needs a little spy dog- Right?
At least that’s what your kingdom agreed upon when they hired a young boy off the streets to come work for the palace
Saeyoung had a pretty good life growing up amongst the court, which was a startling difference to the village below. He wasn’t there just for fun though.
The king and queen needed to keep the village in check, to make sure there were no riots or attempts to overthrow them. That’s when Saeyoung came in.
This redhead acted as the kingdom’s informat, regularly taking visits down into the streets to chat up the royals, learn of any criminals who had plans to tarnish the good reputation of the court and quell any possible rumours of a rebellion amongst the common folk
He was real good at it too, and everyone in the kingdom loved Saeyoung with all their heart.
Protect the boy
One day, he was taking his weekly trip down to the town when he sensed he was being followed, and immediately put himself on high alert.
He would wonder through alleyways, zig-zag through the busy streets in the hopes of losing them. Nothing worked however, which forced the redhead to confront his stalker head on.
To his surprise, upon cornering the figure in a dark alleyway in town, he was met with the face of the princess, full of guilt and annoyance over being caught.
You explained how much you had wanted to visit the town and see the nitty-gritty of what it was really like to live there, something that was always hidden from you during royal visits.
And Saeyoung had to admit, this chick had some real kick to her
He still dragged you back to the castle though
He thought that would be the end of it, but the very next day he felt the same stalking presence behind him as he left to go into the village
That sneaky little-
“My my~ Princess, if you wanted to spend time with me all you had to do was ask.”
Your face blushed a bright red at the comment, coming out of your place of hiding in defeat at being caught once more.
You waited for Saeyoung to take you back to the castle immediately, however, the sturn instruction never came, and you look up at the boy to see not anger, but a large smirk on his face, a hand outstretched towards you.
“One day. That’s all you’re getting. Got it, Princess?”
To say you were overjoyed was an overstatement.
At the end of the day, Saeyoung was almost disappointed to have to take you back to the castle, finding the two of you made incredible companions together. Spending time with you was one of those few moments where he could genuinely smile and laugh, not forcing it politely in front of the royal family or a group of rioters who he needed to win over.
No, this was new.
The next time Saeyoung had to visit the village, he was almost disappointed to find that you weren’t behind him. So what did this idiot do?
Continue to do this job alone like he was being hired to?
Or climb up the side of the castle towards the princess’ chambers?

Luckily for both parties, You were sat on the balcony, looking longingly out into the world like a Rapunzel waiting for her Prince Charming.
“Hey Princess!” Oh would you look at that
“I heard there was a group of bandits that were going to rob a local store tonight. It would be a shame to have to stop them alone.... unless purrrhaps you felt it was necessary for me to be accompanied by someone?”
“Oh, do you need a guard?”
“Wha- no, Princess I meant-“
“Can the great Saeyoung Choi not beat a group of bandits on his own? Or does he need the fragile princess to beat them for him?”
“Marry me”
Jihyun
It was your birthday and your whole day was filled to the brim with celebrations of every kind
It was exhausting
All you wanted to do was to sit down for more than ten minutes without a guard finding you and dragging you back for your next activity.
You even tried to hide in the maid’s quarters until Jaehee found you and scolded you
After a long day, the royal family was finally able to sit down and relax for an hour or two for the last activity of the day.
What was the last activity you ask?
What kind of a birthday would it be without having your portrait painted by the finest artist in the kingdom.
The idea of having to sit perfectly still and look regal for god knows how long wasn’t the most appealing thing in your opinon, but it was better than standing on your feet for any longer, so you took what you could get.
Of course, when the painter walked into the room for the first time, your attitude definitely changed.
“MC, this is Sir Jihyun Kim. We will be sure to make you look magnificant.”
On the outside, Jihyun was calm and collected, being professional in the presence of the princess.
On the inside, this boy was panicking
What if his work wasn’t good enough? What if he made the princess look ugly? Can you be executed over a bad painting?
You noticed a few minutes into the session how his shoulders were extremely tense and how he would barely make any conversation with you.

You began to talk him up more, complimenting him on his other paintings that you had seen around the castle, asking him about his life at home and why they had never met before despite him being the best painter in the kingdom.
Eventually he explained to you that Rika, one of the royal advisors, had recommended him to the royal family back when they were engaged, but now that the couple had split under rather unfortunate circumstances, he wasn’t as comfortable as he used to be in the castle and only visited to paint for the King and Queen occasionally before leaving again.
He expected after admitting all of this for the silence in the room to return, but to his surprise, you continued to talk to him, expressing sympathy over the situation and how you would have liked to meet him sooner.
Before you knew it, you both had fallen into a comfortable conversation with eachother and the hours that you had previously been dreading had flown by.
“Sir Jihyun, how’s my portrait coming along?”
“Oh- uh...”
He’d finished it hours ago. He just didn’t want to stop talking to you
When he finally gathered up the courage to show you the final product, he was incredibly relieved to see the smile on your face as you praised it, thanking him for such a beautiful piece of art.
“Sir Jihyun this is wonderful! I can’t thank you enough.”
“It was no trouble, your highness. I enjoyed painting such beauty.”
“What?”
“What?”
Saeran
Okay so maybe attempting to break out of the castle prison early wasn’t the best idea
But in his defense, his backup team was being too slow to rescue him, so he took matters into his own hands
Saeran wasn’t the most noble of people by far, oh no, but he’d never done anything worthy of the death sentance
Just a few robberies here and there, maybe a heist or two.
Did he have some of the crown jewels in his pocket when the guards caught him?
Maybe...
Regardless of what happened, here he was now, running through the halls of the castle after lockpicking his way out of the dungeon, with the guards close behind.
Stupid dork didn’t think this far ahead.
Turning a corner, Saeran spots the handful of guards facing away from him at the end of the hall, and knowing how close the ones behind him were to catching him, he knew he was trapped.
There were no windows to jump out of either, only a door beside him leading to who knows what.
What other choice did he have?
Saeran yanks the door open and sneaks inside quickly, hoping that he was quick enough not to get caught as he closed it behind him. He leans up against the wall in an attempt to hear the guards outside passing the room, non the wiser to where he had gone.
Success!
Well... almost
What Saeran hadn’t accounted for was you, who had watched the whole ordeal go down from the foot of your bed. In your room. Which he had just trapped himself inside.
Slow clap for Saeran everybody
“To what do I owe the pleasure?”
Saeran’s victory smirk was quickly wiped from his face as he turns to face you, a brief expression of panic flashing across his face as he took in where he was.
Oh fuck
“I don’t owe you anything, princess.”
“Are you sure? Because it’s seems you’re losing your little game of hide and seek with the guards.”
“Alright listen here you little-”
You were right though, the guards outside had slowly begun to narrow down the short list of possibilites where Saeren could have hid himself, and it wouldn’t take long for them to burst into the princess’ chambers looking for him.
Of course, you knew that, evident by that smug look on your face.
The boy had no choice
“...What do you want?”
“I want to come with you!”

“You can easily escape them if you climb down the balcony, but only if you take me with you.”
“...Why would I take you with me?” More importantly why would the princess want to leave with someone like him
“You know your way around the village don’t you? I want you to show me what it’s like down there. What it’s really like. It’s a small price to pay for letting you escape don’t you think?”

“Alright then princess, you got yourself a deal. Don’t come crying to me though after this. It can be rough down there.”

Dodging Death Pt 14 (CasGil, Hans, Hakuno, Rin, Ereshkigal)

Hakuno walked carefully over to the woman, watching her look around the children’s section of the building. She seemed more like she was looking for someone rather than looking for a book.
“Hello?”
Blondie jumped, gasping a little bit as she stared at her.
She looked so much like Rin. The blush was even the same, leaving Hakuno laughing a little and leaning forward.
“I’m sorry,” she told the blonde. “My name is Hakuno Kishinami. I noticed that you were roaming around the entire library looking for someone or something. Could I help you at all? I’m a librarian here and I know this place so well that I might as well live here.”
Oh, but the blonde blushed even more, stuttering away for a moment unintelligibly before she finally grabbed her twin tails and pressed them to her cheeks as she spoke.
Hakuno felt her heart stutter in response.
“I-I was thinking about g-getting a cat, b-but I don’t know where to find one in this city and I don’t really know anyone who I could ask to help… I-I’m really sorry. I was told I could come here to learn more about cats.”
She was so cute.
Gods, but the woman was so precious. It was herculean effort not to just hug the woman to herself and protect her from the world. Why did the universe have such sweet and gentle people like this in existence? She probably stepped on the stray ant here and there and bawled for hours.
Hakuno beamed at her, loving the question.
“I actually had a cat until recently. Let me show you the section about cats and we can talk about places to go to find your own. Do you know if you want a pure bred or a mixed bred cat?”
“Umm… a mix.”
“Mixed are known for having long lives,” Hakuno told her, leading the woman over to the animal non-fiction texts. “Although, you have to know that sometimes the mixed breeds can have inherited genetic problems that you don’t find out about until much later in life. That’s why a lot of people get pure bred cats. You know the cat’s history. You know things to look out for and you know that the cat has been raised well and who to contact if you find yourself new to having a cat.”
“You know a lot.”
“Like I said, I had a cat myself until there was an incident at my home. Before that, I had a golden Persian.”
“A gold Persian?”
“Think really big and fluffy, with this flat face that looks like a someone ran the cat straight into a window.”
The girl laughed.
Gods, she was cute.
Hakuno smiled back at her as she went on. “He was a bit intimidated by my blowdryer, but he got really used to it. Gorgeous loved it after that. He’d hop right into the bathtub with me and purr when I cleaned his coat and spoiled him. We’d eat turkey and other meats on the couch. We’d watch novellas from the Americas and we’d watch the latest crime dramas on television.”
“Aww,” the woman cooed at the thought.
“I know. I even had this backpack that I would carry him in.”
“I should get one.”
That was why she was here, right?
Taking a look at the various books, Hakuno pulled a couple from the shelves and handed them to the girl. “Try starting with these books about cat ownership. Take a while to get used to being in Fuyuki and maybe try volunteering with shelters that have cats. You’ll learn about what it takes to own a cat and you can think about what kind of cat you would like.”
“Thank you… Hakuno.”
“Of course!” Hakuno smiled brightly. “If you need anymore help, I’ll be at the front desk until closing.”
“I won’t take long! Others will need these books too, right?”
The woman was so worried for others. There was a whole collection of books about cats though. The woman must have never tried coming to one of the libraries in her own home town. Maybe she was from the countryside, somewhere so isolated that they didn’t have libraries.
Whatever the case was, Hakuno just reminded her to take her time and read before she went back to Hans’ side.
“Boyfriend trouble?”
“More like- new to the town and couldn’t speak to anyone long enough to ask for where the books on cats were.”
“Ah, a future crazy cat lady.” Hans glanced to the woman. “Surprising, but I guess you never can tell with people nowadays. Did you tell her that knitting and embroidery with Vlad is on Tuesdays and Thursday evenings?”
“No, Hans. I figured, you know, give people a chance to have a social life and find their own hobbies before relegating them to a stereotype.”
She smacked him with one of the checked in books, grabbing a cart of books to return to the shelves.
“I’m just saying,” he pointed out.
“Uh huh.”
Of course he was. Blondie was cute. She was shy, easily impressed, conscious of others to a point where there was no doubt that she was an angel. People like that didn’t come around too often and they deserved to have others be kind to them.
She really did hope that Blondie found a cat she fell in love with. She deserved a cat like Gilgamesh had been. Someone who would cuddle against her at night, purr as they watched anything on the television, and even preen as he had the blow dryer aimed at them. She would have such a good time.
“You look pleased,” Gilgamesh commented as she crossed through the art gallery towards the magazine area.
“I helped someone who was a pure sweetheart,” she told him.
“Oh?”
The man followed after her, leaning against the side of the magazine stands as she replaced the missing ones to their proper place.
“And what about this person was so remarkable?”
“She was one of those really shy people. You know the ones, where they struggle to look you in the eyes but they really don’t have any evil motive. The people that just want everyone to be happy and try their best?”
“I don’t tend to see those people.”
Hakuno nodded. “Me neither, but the girl came in and was adorable.”
Gilgamesh laughed, “So you helped her?”
“I did!”
Hakuno paused, pulling a wadded up collection of magazines that’d been crammed into the shelving out so she could fix them. Her eyes flickered over the dates, organizing them back into their proper order.
“She was asking about cats and I figured I would be able to give my opinion on them. I told her a little bit, but I left out the fact that my cat never really… stayed the same. I thought she’d appreciate knowing that her thought about having a companion would be helpful. The cuddling is nice and the companionship is really priceless. There’s something to be said for being able to hold someone close when you go to sleep or kissing someone good morning before you go to make-“
The man leaned in and kissed her, leaving the end of her sentence to hang between them.
When he pulled back, Hakuno noted the slight flush to his cheeks.
“Hey.”
He glanced at her.
“You’re cute.”
The pinch to her cheek came immediately, the darker flush staining his cheeks only making her grin more.
“Gil,” she pushed at his hand, laughing despite the slight pain.
“What have I told you about that?”
She glanced towards the front a second before pulling him in by the tie and kissing him. His hand released her cheek, his arms wrapping around her waist to press her awkwardly up against the shelving. He kissed hard, leaving her laughing a little at him.
“Hakuno-“
“I’m supposed to be working.”
He huffed, pulling back a little and leaning his forehead to hers.
“I am,” Hakuno pointed out, noting that skeptical look on his face.
“Then why kiss me?”
“Because I found you to be quite handsome, my king. Since I couldn’t call you cute, I had to find another way to let you know.”
And there was the blush to his cheeks again. The awkward cough gave her the chance to slip under his arm and pinch his back end.
She dodged the grab he made for her, hurrying to her cart and heading away from him.
“I work until close. I hope you find something to entertain yourself with.”
Those were poor words.
Dreadfully poor words.
The man seemed to find the romance novel section of the library, delving into the depths of them where only the loneliest, the most naïve, and the most sultry minded fools in the universe dove into. She could see him make conversation with the three types, laughing at their words and keeping his voice painfully low for eavesdropping.
Between him and Blondie Future Cat Owner, Hakuno found herself entirely distracted.
“So… are you going to keep trying to scan that scanned in book into the system or are you finally going to just go talk to them?”
Hakuno jumped, glancing at the monitor and grinning sheepishly.
“You shouldn’t bring guests,” Hans complained. “You lack the talent for multi-tasking.”
“I was just-“
“I know what you were up to,” he waved a hand. “Fools. So many damn fools. Do I need to remind you what happened when Rin decided to bring that idiot of a man she loves with her to work? Do I need to stress how relationships effect the mind and the spirit of work? This is why maturity is a fine wine. A mead well needed by this younger day and age.”
“Mhmm…”
“Children don’t need these frivolous nonsense about princes and princesses and happy endings and marriages. They need the hard truth. They need disappointment. Blood. They need to understand what sacrifice and pain means. They don’t need dependence and reliance. I tell you, where are the poets, the true literary-“
Gilgamesh was undoing his tie.
The man had his back to Blondie. They were like two stars in the center of the place.
Blondie was looking at her books, smiling away at what she was reading, her hand going to her chest from time to time as though whatever she was reading was hitting near and dear to her. She would look up at other times, as though the pain of other things was too much.
What a sensitive soul.
She hoped there wasn’t too many terrible things in the book that were discussed.
Meanwhile, Gilgamesh was raising a brow. The man crossed one leg over the other, holding his book low as he almost made the simple wooden chair seem like a throne. He’d brush a hand through those blond locks, raising a brow at times while at other times simply leaning his cheek to his hand.
The book lay on his lap, being turned with an almost languid maneuver.
The others watching seemed to think along the same lines that she did.
Although, she, unlike them, had to take him home with her. She would be the one sitting in a hotel room above the clouds, looking out at the skies of Fuyuki and sharing wine and gods only knew what else with him.
Hans groaned, storming towards the back.
“This younger generation is wasted on youth!”
The office door slammed shut a moment before Rin came in, setting her bag behind the counter.
“I figured you’d be with Cu.”
“I figured you’d be with your fiancé.”
Hakuno pointed, earning a laugh.
“You brought him to work with you? How is Hans taking this?”
Hakuno pointed, earning another laugh.
“Kiara see?”
“Let’s not worry about her.”
The last thing they needed was that woman roaming around. She had a vibe about her. Whether it was the fact that she was a nun or the fact that she seemed only too comfortable with hitching up her skirts whenever she sat down behind the counter to help a customer, something was off about her.
“So.” Rin pulled out her notes, grabbing a chair and scooting in close. “Study time.”
She didn’t really want to study.
Looking over the math notes, she could already feel a deep sigh coming about.
They began to work together, finding that no one was coming up to the counter right now. Not a single soul, Hakuno noticed, seemed to even want to leave the building. A few more people trickled in. She found some people moving to sit on the floor, leaning their backs against the wall as she and Rin worked on their homework.
Rin frowned a little at that too, looking up after a while.
“The library is busy tonight.”
It was, but it wasn’t.
There were throngs of people, most of whom were scattered about the floors now that the seating was filled and people taking to sitting on the arms as well.
They all seemed to face…
“They aren’t seriously watching those two, are they?”
“I think they are…” Rin was frowning a little at Blondie. “Who’s the girl?”
“Future cat owner.”
“Oh… Weird. How is G?”
“Ran away.”
Rin winced, shaking her head. “I’m sorry. Did Gilgamesh get to meet him or-“
“It was during the whole axe killer thing. I don’t really have high hopes.”
Rin winced again, patting her back awkwardly before she moved back to the math homework. Another two problems in and Hakuno found Hans tapping her shoulder.
“Rin and I will close. Take your distraction home.”
“You sure?”
Hans gave her a small look, leaving her to sigh.
“It’s not that bad, Kishinami.” Rin beamed, finding her hours extended. More pay for her.
Then again, what was she worried about hours for anyway? She did have Gil to help her…
That was a bad way to think about things. She wasn’t going to think about that again. She could support herself without needing to rely on Gilgamesh like that.
“Done?” Gilgamesh’s book snapped shut as she approached, the flash of a smile earning a stillness near them.
“I just finished,” she told him.
“We should consider what to have for dinner since you’re free. It’s early enough to indulge somewhere. I amused myself greatly with some material that might serve as interesting to you.”
She had no doubt of that.
Blondie turned, just as Hakuno glanced back.
“Go ahead to the car. I’ll be right there,” Hakuno told Gilgamesh, hurrying back and giving a small smile to her cat loving friend. “I’m leaving my shift early. If you need any help, just ask Rin at the counter. Brown hair, a little arrogant but decent person otherwise. If she gives you trouble, ask her how her to tell you about her boyfriend.”
“O-oh.”
She still looked a little out of sorts.
“I work tomorrow too, if that helps.”
“You’ve been really helpful. Cats are really sweet sounding creatures.”
“They’re wonderful.”
The girl blushed a little more, averting her gaze.
“Look um… I think I told you my name. I’m Hakuno.”
“I’m Ereshkigal.”
Ereshkigal. What an odd name. Then again, blonde hair was a bit different around here. She was probably an exchange student or something.
“Eresh. Nice to meet you.” She scribbled her number down on one of the bookmarks nearby and handed it to her. “If you need someone to show you around Fuyuki, call me up. I’ll get my friends together and we’ll help you out.”
“Really? Just like that?”
“You’re new in town, aren’t you?”
The woman nodded.
“No one deserves to be alone. Call us if you want someone to spend time with during the day.”
Gilgamesh was waiting though. She had to go.
Hakuno hurried towards the door, giving a small wave to Hans and giving Rin a good well wish as she grabbed her bag and headed out into the rain. She hopped in the car, finding Gilgamesh leaning back in his seat.
“What did you have to do?”
“Just say goodbye for now to a new friend.”
“Oh?”
“Yeah,” Hakuno backed the car up, beginning the drive back towards their hotel. “She’s the shy one I was telling you about. I found out her name and I let her know how to contact me if she wants to spend time with people here. She seems like a good person.”
Gilgamesh leaned back, nodding.
They turned a couple streets in that peaceful silence, the rain coming down softly around them.
“You never did ask, you know.”
“Hmm?”
“About the test.”
Hakuno stopped at the light, her hands tightening around the wheel in front of her.
She’d completely forgotten about that. There had been a quiet evening, a standard and almost normal evening of working at the library. Enjoying Gilgamesh’s company and meeting someone new who had been as lonely as she had when she’d first moved here to go to college, she’d completely spaced on the stress of what she’d been thinking about for part of the day.
“…If you’re mentioning it, then I probably am, aren’t I?”
“Your test seemed to think so. All three of them.”
Hakuno stared at her hands, noting the light change from red to green. Her foot tapped on the accelerator to keep them from blocking traffic.
“You care about others,” Gilgamesh murmured. “You protect what’s important to you and you think on your feet. Something like this is not such a daunting ordeal when you consider that you are already well equipped for such tasks ahead of you.”
“Gil…”
“You truly are unique, Hakuno.”
Her face was burning as she pulled the car into the parking lot. She parked the vehicle into the spot from before and turned off the engine, remaining in her seat.
“Hakuno?”
“Gilgamesh…”
The small space of her car filled with silence. She listened to the quiet sounds of the parking garage before she felt Gilgamesh pull her hand into his and leaning back once more in his seat. His lips pressed to the back of her hand.
He didn’t tug or pull. He simply kissed her hand once and laced their fingers together.
“You glow when you speak fondly of others,” he told her quietly. “Not just in blushing a little and smiling, you give off this proud feeling, like you have seen something truly astounding. You tease what you find value in. You don’t hold back what you think or feel.”
She glanced over at him.
“I came to notice these things as your pet. I came to covet these facts as your lover. I will enjoy every second of encouraging them as the man whose side you stand beside.”
This man was simply too much.
Hakuno unbuckled her seat with her free hand and pulled her coveted one back, kissing his hand in return.
“You’re making me love you.”
“You speak as though you haven’t fallen already.”

it was as if the gods had planned for the two of you to become as inseparable as you are to this day, as you were born at the exact same time on the exact same day - and your houses were right next to each other
not to mention your parents were childhood friends as well
the pair of you grew up side by side, playing in puddles of icky mud and climbing to the very top of the trees in the forest behind your houses, much to your families’ displeasure
due to the high status of both of your families, many expected you to follow in your father’s footsteps and become a renowned aristocrat with jisung one day rising to become an artist known for his pieces around the world
but you and jisung had very, very different plans, since the very beginning
this diverging plan emerged on a stormy afternoon, the two of you had been chasing each other throughout the streets of the bustling city when a sudden ‘boom!’ erupted, nearly sending you both flying into a brick wall
but someone had caught your smaller bodies with quick, cat-like reflexes
that someone was one of the knights in your home kingdom
his armor was stained a stunning blue and white mix of colors, the distinct emblem of the royal family carved into the steel plating
the knight glanced over your shaking bodies once, twice, and then once more before he concluded no external damage had come to either of you
before jisung could open his mouth to ask the knight any questions sure to be running through his active brain, the lanky man had already started to take off towards the town square where the boom had come from, blending in with the plethora of other knights ready to defend their people from harm
that was the day both of you mutually decided that, one day, you both would become the strongest, most dedicated knights in the entire kingdom
the two of you stuck by each other’s sides all the time, even now you stood straight next to one another, clad in the blue and white armor you had come to admire for many years now
while you both were still quite young, no one could doubt how strong you both were and how much you excelled as a duo on the battlefield
while both of you were incredibly strong, jisung was the one who had mastered strategy-making and long-ranged weapons; meanwhile you had mastered the art of guerilla warfare, which was obvious by how muscular your body had become over the years
while jisung was essentially the louder, more rambunctious of the two of you, he had more brains and you held more brawns, even if you were the one who had to convince the boy to not try and slip jelly cubes into one of the general’s drinks while she wasn’t looking
you balanced each other out, it was as simple as that
“I know that you two are confident in your abilities to carry out this mission, but I beg of you - please be careful, if not for me, for the princess.” seungmin, one of the general’s sons pleaded to you and jisung, his usually stoic expression fading into one of worry at the carefree smiles planted onto your lips
“aww, is little seungmin worried about his best friends in the whole wide world?” jisung cooed teasingly to the younger boy while you ruffled his hair, causing the boy to let out a whine of annoyance and affection
“don’t sweat it, the two of us can do this no problem. its just a stealth mission through the mountains across the border, right? we got this.” you try to reassure your close friend, offering him a wide smile to try and lift his spirits
thing is, you were just as worried, if not more, about this particular mission
you and jisung had never tracked across miles of mountains before, and especially not into enemy territory that was growing more and more weary of invasion with each passing day
while the court wizard of ylanta, minho, was doing his best to deter the royal family from suspecting any sort of plan against them, there were still rumors
and rumors were enough for any sort of leader to be on guard more than usual
even though you damn well knew that the two boys you called your best friends, along with the princess now stranded in ylanta for her wedding, could sense your growing weariness, you refused to verbalize your concerns
“i’m sure our darling princess will be happy to see you two again since she’s stuck up there,” seungmin tried to lighten the mood, smiling at the thought of their friend group being able to reunite, “just make sure to stay low, stay hidden - tho-”
“those bastards won’t hesitate to shoot us down, we know, genius.” the blonde beside you finished the statement, patting seungmin’s shoulder reassuringly as he met your worried gaze
“we’ll be fine, don’t worry so much.”
that same night you and jisung had set out on your long journey through mirstone , taking a pair of horses for a majority of the way before you hit the mountain range that was between mirstone and ylanta’s borders
but by the time you reached the bottom of the rocky slopes, you had to bid farewell to your horses, knowing the poor creatures wouldn’t be able to stand the chilly temperatures and dangerous slopes ahead
so you and jisung shrugged on the bags onto your backs, letting out pitiful grunts at the sheer weight of the leather material now weighing your bodies down a bit more than either of you expected
the first stop didn’t turn out to be so bad; you had made a good track so far, walking at least five miles through the spiky range of tall mountains; a feat only you two could accomplish alone
if another squadron had been sent to make the journey along with you both, there was no way you would’ve made it so far, and so quietly
see, only three of the fifteen miles of mountains stretched into mirstone - the rest went on through a subsection of ylanta
so it would be no surprise if you were met with enemy solders at one point or another, hence why sending only two of the best knights was surely the best decision the strategists could’ve made at the time
“you want some of my beef stick?” jisung asked you, watching carefully as you sadly rubbed your belly; you could only bring a certain amount of rations, and for the most part it included little to no real meat, in fear that a wild bear would smell the meal and try to take it from you two
still you snuck in two beef sticks to keep you energized on the first day, as it was the longest part of the journey. you had eaten yours already during the horseback ride, but jisung had proved as smart as ever, choosing to instead eat his beef stick before bed so that he would feel more energized in the morning
“no way, you need to eat all of it - I already ate mine.” you pushed away his kind offering, blushing a crimson red when your stomach decides to let out an ungodly sound akin to a lion’s growl
jisung rolled his eyes and leaned in closer to you, stuffing part of the ration into your mouth before you could protest
“chew, y/n.” he insisted, smirking cockily when you huff and take a bite of his ration, pulling away and continuing to chew on the tough beef with puffed cheeks. “atta girl, that’s my cute little chipmunk~” he cooed teasingly, pursing his lips and pinching your cheeks
you can’t help but feel your cheeks (which were still being pinched) heat up at his gentle yet still teasing touch, the pads of his fingertips warm against your chilly skin
once he pulls away you end up chewing on the beef stick until you finish, then continue to sit close to each other in favor of not freezing to death on your first night in the mountains
jisung digs into his pack for a moment and then pulls out a pair of furry blankets, throwing one over both of your legs and the other over your shoulders before he shimmied underneath them right beside you
“do you remember the time I got stuck in a tree during training?” you ask him suddenly, feeling his lips twitch into a knowing smirk against the side of your head
“I do. you tried to impress one of the visitors from that little town - arbington, I think?” he ponders aloud, but continues after your hum of approval. “yeah, he owns a menagerie or whatever and you thought he was sooo cute~”
“shut up jisung… he was cute.”
“not as cute as me though, duh.”
“obviously.”
“but I was the only one able to come up and bring you down; you refused to accept help from anyone but your best friend.” he giggles
you laugh and roll your eyes, snuggling up closer to him for warmth
and then you both fall asleep, curled up into each other with your legs tangled together under the warmth of the blanket
the next two days were relatively the same; you would walk through the mountains for a few miles, sneak past outposts with ylantian guards, and camp out next to one another
“hey y/n,” jisung speaks after some time of comfortable silence, walking ahead of you by a few inches, but nothing too far, “after this mission - after we win the war...” he trails off, dipping his head down in thought, a strand of his blonde hair swaying in front of his eyes
you tilt your head thoughtfully, mimicking his actions. “what’s wrong, ji?”
he takes a deep, shaky breath, suddenly stopping in his tracks to turn on his heels, now completely facing you
“ji-?”
“y/n, come live with me. somewhere, anywhere - seungmin already agreed to have a talk with the princess once this is all said and done,” he blurts out, his voice wavering, “I - I don’t want to keep doing shit like this, where I could possibly see you die in front of me. I couldn't - I could never live with myself if that happened, chipmunk.” he pleads with you, his gaze flickering all over your stunned expression as he waits for you to speak
“jisung - I... of course i’ll come live with you. I would follow you to the ends of the earth if you asked me to.” you giggle at his expression which now clearly reflects yours merely moments ago
“wait, are you serious?” he breathes out, his lips parting to say more
then an arrow flies through the air, whizzing past your face and piercing the boy in his shoulder
you immediately place your body in front of his as fast as you possibly can, whisking out a pair of war axes from the hoops of your belt. meanwhile the injured boy hisses in pain, but doesn’t pull the arrow out, as he knows too well that you both could potentially be in for a long fight without medical attention - he didn’t want to risk bleeding too much from the wound in his shoulder
then, from the outskirts of the mountains, just out of view, a horde of ylantian solders start to creep from the shadowy crevices, decorated with heavy armor and giant battle axes as well as crossbows
suddenly a flurry of arrows fly at you both, some of them puncturing your lower legs, thighs, and arms
these soldiers weren’t shooting to kill; yet
“the king and queen send their regards - oh, and...” one of the soliders tep forward from his rocky perch, carelessly swinging a silver sword around as he smirked at your bleeding bodies, “before you both die, I figure you might want to know that we have your princess in captivity. she’ll be executed tomorrow at sunrise. terribly sorry.”
you feel your heart drop in your chest, and by the strangled grunt from jisung’s throat, you can tell he is as horrified as you are
“now, let’s see how much the two best knights of mirstone can take before they topple over.”
as the horde of shouting soldiers start to make their way towards you both, clearly already celebrating their victory, you find your hand searching for jisung’s; nearly crying out in relief when it intertwines with yours
“I - I love you squirrel.” you whimper softly, squeezing his hand as another arrow whizzes into your chest
“I love you too, chipmunk.” jisung whispers just loud enough for you to hear, a single tear rolling down his cheek at the endless sight of experienced enemies still hurtling your direction
there was no way to win this fight, and both of you knew that
but you both knew that at least you would die together, fighting until the very end for your country
for your kingdom, mirstone
for your friends, seungmin and the princess
for each other, for jisung, for y/n
and so, still holding hands, you both stood back to back, raising your weapons to your enemies
