What if....

Damien and Danyal Al Ghul are twins. Danyal takes heavily after Bruce but Damien is a perfect mix of their parents, and he came out of the artificial womb first, so Damien is decided to be the heir.

Growing up in the League is hard, but Damien excels in a way that Danyal doesn't, because for all the potential Danyal has, he hates the killing and there is a rebellious streak evident even as young as they are. A rebellious streak is a...very dangerous thing to have. Grandfather won't kill Danyal, for as ruthless as he is he doesn't kill his own lineage. But that is not to say that the additional "training" Danyal goes through is merciful.

Damien and Danyal love each other, not just as brothers but also in the way partners do when they don't even have to blink to anticipate the others actions in the midst of action. Which is why Damien, not even yet six, can see the way Danyal is being broken down under the burden of their joint legacy.

So many times, in so many of the universes in which he exists, Danyal Al Ghul is or is seemingly killed, of which is the catalyst for his escape from the League of Assassins, and his brother is left behind thinking him truly dead.

In this universe, when the Demon Twins are out on a training mission (an assassination of a target so easy it's beneath the League for anything other than the simplest of first training missions) a massive earthquake occurs.

They are alive at the end, but both their communication devices are beyond repair. Damien is more roughed up than Danyal at the end, but both are dirty and bloodied.

This is an unprecedented opportunity, of which Damien knows deep down he will never get again.

He loves his brother deeply, but Danyal is weak, always hesitating before the kill, hands shaking. Damien loves his brother and fighting side by side, but he values more the quiet moments when Danyal is looking at star maps and trying to match them up with the sky above their home or making snarky comments about their trainers under his breath. (After when they can't hear Damien doesn't laugh but Danyal always knows he agrees and is amused.)

Grandfather's and Mother's additional training to bring Danyal up to Damien's level is making Danyal go quiet and emotionless and Damien is selfish.

(Damien convinces his twin brother to leave the League of Assassins.)

Damien drags himself to the rendezvous point and returns home alone, reporting the target dead and his brother lost under rock in the quake, body unable to be recovered. He is colder, furious at the world and himself. He pushes and pushes and PUSHES himself. He is the last remaining of a set and he will prove himself perfect to carry the title of Heir perfectly and without reproach. He is more loyal day by day, the guilt his selfishness and betrayal of his family a deep sting he can't ignore.

Talia does search, but so many bodies were lost or unidentified inside mass graves. She grieves and then refocuses on her remaining son without looking back. Grandfather laments the loss, but cares little for the spare in the long run.

Meanwhile, Danyal hid himself long enough to sneak onto one of many transports filled with foreign aid. He is small and sneakier than any average stowaway, and remains undetected all the way to the US.

He doesn't go to Gotham to find his father, but picks a direction at random and leaves, until eventually he's picked up and put in the system. Bouncing around until one day, not long after he turns seven, the Dr.'s Fenton and their young daughter are visiting in their search to adopt their second child. (A combination of genetics and radiation from their earliest experiments in college leaving the pair with low fertility rates and very high risks if they ever did get pregnant. The two get procedures early on and adopt Jazz when she is still fairly young, but wait until she is a bit older before adopting again.)

Danyal Al Ghul had an older twin brother.

Daniel Fenton doesn't think he could handle having an older brother again, but an older sister is acceptable.

Danyal left to go full civilian, and when Damien had sent him off decided he would carry that knowledge to his grave if he must. He tells no one, and does not even mention ever having a twin when he goes to live with their Father in Gotham. If Mother did not tell Father of the deceased son, then neither will Damien.

Danyal Al Ghul is dead, and Damien will keep it that way.

ARC REVIEW: The Last Days of Lilah Goodluck by Kylie Scott

4.25/5. Releases 2/6/2024.

Vibes: fated mates but make it contemporary, bucket lists, royal romance with a twist, and "what are friends for?" *eyebrows*

Heat Index: 7/10

After saving the life of a random psychic, Lilah is offered several predictions: 1) her boyfriend is indeed cheating 2) she'll get passed over for that promotion 3) the winning lotto numbers 4) she'll meet her soulmate, Alistair George 5) she's going to die in eight days. After she finds out her boyfriend is indeed cheating, loses out on her promotion, meets the King's illegitimate son Alistair George (among other names, because aristo), and wins the lottery... She's getting worried. Fortunately, though he thinks it's bullshit, Alistair is ready to help her cross items off her bucket list. But as sparks fly between perky Lilah and surly Alistair, she has to wonder: has she met her one true love just when her time is running out?

I love Kylie Scott; she's easily one of my favorite contemporary romance authors--her books never fail to make me laugh, while offering some swoonworthy moments, great voice, and... hot sex scenes. Her recent pivot to books with a touch of magic has added an extra bit of whimsy to her romances, and I like it a lot. This book would make a great movie or miniseries, to be honest. It's fun, adventurous, and has that tension hanging overhead. (Though, obviously, there's an HEA.) The kind of romcom I can get behind!

Quick Takes:

--The thing is... the magic in these Kylie books never takes away from the fact that she's writing a strong contemporary romance. It's more of a plot device that gets the ball rolling than a plot dominator. Here, I'd say the setup comes into play a bit more than it did in End of Story (which I also enjoyed) but it would, wouldn't it? And ultimately, we are really reading about Lilah learning how to live life to the fullest and fall in true, deep love. I'm always good with that.

--I think the recent Windsor-related events have obviously spurred more authors on to write about rebellious royals in love, and I'm never mad at that. However, I really loved the twist Kylie put into it with Alistair's backstory. Like, everyone in the world knows he's the king's firstborn. He's globally famous (and we certainly see the fallout of that when he's spotted out and about with Lilah). But his father has never acknowledged him.

Not only does that add some great emotional tension to the story--it also makes Alistair seem like a lot less of an inherent dick, and I totally read it as Kylie capturing the prince mystique while also being like "let us be real, this is a Kylie Scott hero, he is not getting a manicure, he's gruff and snarky and ready to carry a wacky girl around and put. it. DOWN." A great compromise. Yes, he's still massively privileged, but he's also like... a royal pariah. And Scottish! And he DOES say "och", praise Jesus.

--Great supporting characters, as per usual for Kylie. Alistair basically has this floaty, whimsical mother (in a lot of ways, she read to me like a Princess Diana type if she was in the role of Camilla and cared more about the glam and jetsetting than... activism, but with a kind of very loving, well-intentioned, a bit unconventional mothering). And his mom's gardener/handy-man/Longtime Friend with Tension Dougal is great, too.

Often, supporting characters in contemporaries feel like they're just there to go "you go, girl!" Kylie is too good a writer to settle for that. I loved Lady Helena and Dougal, and I loved that sort of off-the-page heavily implied secondary romance going on.

--Now. Alistair and Lilah. YES. It is a grumpy/sunshine deal, though, per Kylie, Lilah is a bit on the snarky side of sunshiney. He's not even up for being friends with her at first, and he's definitely not on board with this soulmate thing. But you can tell he just can't get this woman out of his mind, and he keeps coming back for more, and then, slowly but surely, HE'S the one wilding out and being like "THIS ONE. I WANT THIS ONE".

I really liked the way that Alistair gradually went from "this prophecy shit is so stupid Lilah" to "I don't want to believe it but what if I lose this woman" anxiety. It touched my heart.

--Just as a sidebar, love how Kylie writes curvy heroines. There's mention of Lilah's body, but like. It's just her body. She mentions cellulite and insecurities, but they never seem like mind-dominating insecurities. And uh. Alistair is ABOUT IT.

The Sex:

Speaking of! Um! I love the sex scenes in Kylie's books as a rule, especially when it's this like, borderline utilitarian "help a girl out" vibe which everyone inevitably gets SUPER into, escalating into intense passion. One of the things on Lilah's bucket list is to have truly great sex, and at some point Alistair, her new good buddy, naturally goes "fine, I can get that done for you".

And. Boy. Does. He. As usual with her books, there's an amazing description of cunnilingus (with a liiiiittle bit of butt stuff), some hot groping in a semi-public setting, an elevator scene that will live in my mind for a long time, and some great "are you okay with doing this very intimate thing we didn't plan on doing but oh my god we're so wrapped up in each other we just gotta". Alistair is a deliverer of the praise kink.

But perhaps! More! Excitingly! ... Alistair is into delivering some light choking? I, ah. Did not expect that. I don't think Lilah did either. And it's SUPER hot. I did some bookmarking. I did some "oh my"-ing. It was great.

This book is such a whimsical, fun, palate cleaner with a good mix of adventure, romance, family drama, and bangin'. If you've never tried a Kylie book, I would definitely recommend this. And if you're a fan of hers already, you're gonna love it.

How's Lewk doing in regards of making friends? Listening to your school ramble gives me the feeling, while he has some friends, he rather stays at home after school than to go out to play with said Friends

Actually making friends isn't that big of a problem for him. He naturally attracts others' attention and makes them curious about him, but it's his sweet and kind personality that solidifies it (otherwise, the other kids would most likely feel scared of him due to his connection with Grimm, who's widely perceived as very intimidating). So it didn't take long for him to gain friends, he was surrounded by them from the first day of school.

But the problem lies in maintaining those friendships. The way he was raised definitely shaped him to be very attached to his parents - he was the center of attention, he was spoiled, especially by Grimm, who would shower him with gifts, and FPK would add to the pile with the toys he made in his workshop. But it wasn't just that, since they value affection, he grew surrounded with love, so it makes sense that he would become very close with them, but also learn to be kind to others. There's also the fact that all of his friends are younger than him, not by much, but he didn't have any playmates for a chunk of his early childhood, so that brought him even closer to his parents and family. Consequently, he didn't really get to know the other Dirtmouth children until school started.

He is naturally very curious, but he's just as dependant on his parents. The lessons are fun, he's very excited about seeing his friends, but just like you suggested, he tends to gravitate back towards his family after they're over, since being separated from his loved ones for longer periods of time makes him feel a little scared. So he's kind of split between his want to explore and make friends, and his close bond with his family. If one of his friends asks him to come out and play, you can tell he's feeling conflicted every time. Often times he declines, since he already planned to spend time drawing with Holly, going on a trip with Hornet, helping FPK in his workshop, or watching Grimm's rehearsals. So I could see the other kids viewing him as someone who's really nice but never wants to play with them, and eventually giving up on asking him to join them.

I do think this is something he'd get better at over time, though. As much as Grimm and FPK love him, they still want him to have friends, so they encourage him to go out and play with them. But I doubt he'll ever lose that close bond with his family, even if he doesn't end up quite the mama's boy Milo is shaping up to be.

Unrelated but I thought I'd talk about this while I'm on the topic of the future. I mentioned some time ago that Lewk's arc would be getting annoyed at how pampered he is and trying to break free from it, but after some thinking I decided that this didn't fit his personality very much. Instead, I think Asta would be more fitting for that kind of possible development, she has a much more snarky and rebellious personality, I imagine, so I could see her trying to be more independent.

I most likely won't age the kids any time soon, but thinking of the paths they could take in the future is good for character development. Like I mentioned, Lewk would be the really kind and helpful one with a close bond with his family, I think he'd end up being quite well liked among the Dirtmouth folk. Asta would be far more rebellious and cause trouble all the time just to gain some independence, though shd'd still have a soft spot for her twin brother. And Milo would stay close to and very dependent on his dads, to the point where he'd end up being a bit of an outcast among his peers, maybe even quite mean and dismissive of them, though deep down he's still very kind, just very shy and awkward which paints him as a target for mean comments.

rjk hunger games au is SO GOOD i would read the hell out of that if u ever decided to write more. but also the everlark gifset you reblogged could definitely be a concerned and shaken roy (katniss) latching onto a recently revived and sarcastic jamie (peeta) who’s just casually joking about how he died. and maybe keeley takes on the role of finnick in this scenario, or she’s part of the resistance and supporting from afar.

how do you think jamie won his games? when and where do rjk figure things out for the first time? i don’t think i’m going to be able to stop thinking about this.

I'm not sure how Jamie would win his Games because I want him to do something rebellious :) Maybe in keeping with the THG plot, he orchestrates the Katniss & Peeta berries movie only without the romantic angle. WHAT IF Sam is also in the arena and they become allies... Except Sam at the beginning is like "I am not going to last long here. I cannot kill anyone, I cannot." and Jamie is like...fuck that I'm not just letting you sit here until someone comes along and kills you wtf. So after that they have an unspoken agreement that Sam will forage for them because he's really good at identifying edible leaves and berries and Jamie will do the fighting if/when it comes to it. then when it comes down to just the two of them Jamie is like okay Sam i'm sorry but you have to kill me now. and Sam is like absolutely not. did you not hear me when I said I'm not going to kill anyone? It's okay Jamie do what you need to do. but Jamie of course says ABSOLUTELY NOT and comes up with the berry scheme!! I simply think a hunger games AU deserves a samjamie bestieism side plot.

as for rjk... Roy has isolated himself for sooo long after winning and meeting Keeley and secretly fueling the resistance with her as the liaison has finally given him a sense of purpose again 🥺 so those two are already getting close when Jamie is reaped, and Jamie again is friends with Keeley from school and because she gives him tasks to do to help the resistance. Jamie is still so young, so most of the others in the resistance dismiss him but Keeley sees how desperate he is to help and is like, well why shouldn't he? she's always seen his potential :) So they are also already very fond of each other. and roy and jamie are in their enemies to friends arc because that needs to be the royjamie dynamic in any universe, i don't make the rules. Roy finds Jamie annoying because he's always getting in the way. also in the early days after they meet Jamie tries to give Roy hunting tips just to be snarky lmao and roy is like absolutely fuck you i've been hunting before you could hold a bow. Also Jamie is relentless and nagging and won't leave roy ALONE to his own peace and loneliness in the victor's village. So by the time Jamie is reaped they have a tentative friendship and care about each other but would never admit it.

Then Jamie comes back and is obviously extremely traumatized from the experience, especially since his ally-ship with Sam had him doing all the fighting at the very end. Roy can uhhhh relate to that. more than a bit. So he takes Jamie under his wing in the Victor's Village and starts showing up to check on him and cook him meals. they learn so much more about one another and help one another to heal. Keeley continues to be their access point to the resistance in the District, because she's a bit more under the radar to the Capital since she was never in the Games. It's dangerous for Roy and Jamie to get too involved, but they help Keeley wherever they can and it basically becomes all three of them living together in Roy's giant victor village house. I'm imagining this as a slow burn of like, a year or two after Jamie's back home before they even get together. once they do though, the Capitol finds out about it and starts sending Jamie more and more often to the Capitol :( the only silver lining is that Jamie at least gets to see Sam on these trips, as Sam is another Capitol fan favorite. And Keeley and Roy get angrier and angrier back home about, well, everything but it's so much worse now that Jamie is so relentlessly being forced into prostitution. So yeah, they start getting reallyyy risky with resistance activity. Cue: Quarter Quell :(

Karai’s Relationship with her brothers and Father

Miwa and Leo -  Karai and Leo are close because of Leo’s belief in her when they first met. No matter how many times Karai messed up, Leo never gave up on her and is usually the first one to help her. I can imagine the two bickering a lot just like Raph and Leo because of how different they are. Leo is responsible and a goodie-three-toes, but Karai is free-spirited and rebellious. Also, I can see Leo trying to use the leader and big brother tone he would use on his younger brothers after they did something stupid and though it might sometimes work for them, it will not work on Karai. She is a leader too and technically the true eldest sibling, so no matter how many times Leo tries to get Karai to follow his orders, he always ends up being the one who submits…mostly because of his fear of her. Despite that though, they do make a good team, always have each other's backs no matter what, always support one another and always compete against each other (Karai always wins) for fun. 

Miwa and Raph - Karai and Raph are very similar because of that they argue the most. With them, the only way they communicate is through fists. Whenever they are frustrated or angry and just do not want to talk, they usually go to each other to fight it out until they are a panting and sweaty mess. After that, if they feel like it, they will vent to each other about their problems because they know that neither of them will judge or lecture or tell anyone else. Raph and Karai have a good relationship though they like to get on each other’s nerves. Karai likes to tease and mock Raph and Raph likes doing the same to her. They are also very competitive towards each other. 

Miwa and Donnie - I can see Karai watching curiously in Donnie’s lab next to Mikey and teasing him about his crush on April which Donnie finds very annoying while Mikey finds it funny. They like to throw snarky and sarcastic comments at each other. Karai, always needing something to do, one day asks Donnie if she could help in his lab in some way, though hesitant Donnie agreed. The two always ended up having long conversations as they worked, (mostly about Donnie’s crush on April) and it made them grow closer as siblings. I also imagine Donnie scolded Karai when she comes home with an injury and gets annoyed when she keeps insisting that she is fine. Donnie basically has to drag her into his lab to get patched up and looked over to make sure nothing serious was wrong. 

Miwa and Mikey - I would like to think of Karai and Mikey as the second half of their mother. Karai was the fierce side of her mother while Mikey was the sweet side. Because of this I think it is easier for them to bond. I can see them pulling pranks together, Karai standing up for Mikey when their brothers pick on him, and Mikey always having her back. I do not think Karai would get easily annoyed with Mikey like everyone else and Mikey would never hold any grudges towards her. I can imagine the two of them talking the most about the mother they wished they had but never knew. Though, Karai is not very affectionate and does not like to show emotions, she comforts Mikey when he is scared or upset and is very protective of him, probably more so than his brothers and that was saying something. 

Miwa and Splinter - The two were alike in a lot of ways and though their relationship started off in an awkward and rocky start the two became very close, even more close than Splinter is with Leo. Splinter becomes more of a father towards Karai and though it annoys her sometimes, she was very happy to have a real father for a change. I can see Splinter sitting by Karai’s bedside while telling her stories about him and her mother when they were younger. I can also see them arguing over dumb stuff since Karai was still not used to living under a house with actual rules, but she supposes it is better than always having to watch your back in case a Foot decided to attack. Splinter also helps Karai with her trauma any way he can and trains her to become a greater Master than even he and not a weapon like how Shredder trained her to be.

Based on what I see on your blog, i know you have other jojo oc kids besides Haruka and Momo. Is it alright if I know who they all are?

I WAS SO EXCITED THAT I GOT THIS ASK AND THEN I FORGOT ABOUT IT WHOOPS-

I was gonna maybe do quick sketches to go along with this ask, but I don't have the time rn and I drew them for this dumb meme a while ago anyways. I'm just really talking about my main villain kids here, and also a bonus girlie 👀. Also some of these aspects, especially in later parts, are a little underbaked. I haven't really rewatched Jojo in a while (and I also have yet to finish part 6, let alone even sniff at the manga) so if it contradicts with Jojo canon... don't talk to me lmao /lh

So, let's start off with Ciliegia, my DIO kid. She's also Giorno's twin sister. She seems aggressive and a little scary, but she's actually just a lil chihuahua. She can and will hurt you if deserved, but she's also just a lil guy you know? A lil vampire lady who just wants head scratches and cherry lollipops. She goes with Giorno to join the mafia, but it's kinda just because home and school suck and she wants to help keep him safe. She's got a crush on Fugo, which eventually develops into a real relationship later on (when exactly is a difficult question, because I haven't decided wether I want her to get on the boat or not. I have reasons for either side, but this section is long enough as it is...) She's also kind of "One of the Boys" but not in a Pick Me girl way (she and Trish have a very nice friendship :) ). Her stand, Dresden Doll, can essentially disintegrate anything (or anyone...) into an ash like substance, but she doesn't use it after a... pretty traumatic experience of her accidentally activating it.

Izei is my Kars and Esidisi kid, who was in the care of Santana as an infant during the events of Part 2. He, thus, was adopted by Stroheim without literally anyone else's knowledge... oof. Stroheim kept him to have further insight on Pillar Man development, but kinda had a father/son bond but the experimentations and the fact that Izei was cooped up in the facility all day really hindered that. He does end up in the care of Joseph and Suzi Q somehow as a teen though, and becomes besties with a younger Holly. He also joins the Speedwagon Foundation later, around Part 3, specialising in animals. I like to imagine, in this universe, he drops off Iggy to the crusaders. He doesn't get a stand, because he obviously doesn't really need one with his ultimate being ass dad, but he does inherit Esidisi's nifty heat powers (they are mostly used to reheat Joseph's coffee). He's a good, quiet lad, if a little snarky and rebellious at times.

Livia is my Diavolo kid, the product of a one-night stand. Her mother quickly became a drug addict when she was little, to cope with her young and single motherhood and being kicked out by family due to it. She has, therefore, probably had the worst backstory. Taking care of her mother, dealing with the often sleazy and aggressive boyfriends she brought home, living in poverty etc. And then her mother died of an overdose and Livia, not wanting to end up in foster care, ran away and got donuted by Diavolo in the process... but then her stand kicked in. Nine Inch Nails' ability is literal immortality (and also makes wounds heal faster - she can heal a papercut in under five minutes), but she can still feel the pain of everything, she just can't die, so it's not as fun as you might think.

Miel technically doesn't count, as she has no biological or even legal relation to Pucci, but idc lol. She sees him as a father figure anyways, as their dysfunctional family were very attentive in the church he preached at. I'm not sure exactly what role she plays in Part 6, but she is very much aware and on board with his whole plans, as he's one of the two people they trust. The other being a boy named Peter who they have a crush on, and he does reciprocate those feelings but she turns them down. She claims it's because she wants to be a nun and doesn't want to affect that, but it's really because witnessing her parents' terrible relationship really affected her. Their stand, Oh Klahoma, makes them able to disguise themselves in objects like desks and walls while still being able to see and hear.

Jamie is my Funny Valentine kid (even though I despise that man), originally from a separate universe where his wife can have kids and then brought into Part 7 by D4C. He actually really looked up to his dad until he met Lucy Steel shortly after being brought to this universe, which just so happened to be after the... you know. He didn’t look upon him so favourably after that (mmm... yummy rebellion arc). There's also stuff going on before he switched universes, like his dead boyfriend who was also engaged to someone else at the time... yeah. His stand, Achilles, can also see into the future, meaning he can change the future. It's a little tricky, though, as 1) he can't just choose to see the future, they just come as random prophetic visions and 2) he has no idea when these future visions are meant to be, they could be anything from five minutes to five years away.

Kia is my Tooru fankid. Not sure how exactly it happened, but one day a 17 year-old just popped out of the dirt like nothing. They were immediately taken in by a teenage boy who they almost immediately developed a crush on. Unfortunately, he's taken. Fortunately, Kia's stand, "Breaking Glass", allows him to shapeshift. So, he pretends to be the guy's girlfriend. If you feel bad for their crush, I would also like to say that he had a feeling it was Kia the whole time BTW and let them do it anyways... *sigh* men.

And lastly, as a bonus, Concetta! My Cioccolata/Secco kiddo. They should probably not be allowed anywhere near children, but their aesthetic and relationship is fun and I just had to. Concetta was raised by her dads up until the colleseum fight, which she was present for, and the police found her as a newly made orphan at ten years old. She goes through foster care for a couple of years, and then runs off to get revenge on Giorno. Just teenage girl things, yk? Her stand, Brittle Bones, allows her to take off her own limbs and have them still be fully functional without causing her pain... fun!!

OC Talk 1: Mathilde and Shane

As I said a few weeks ago, I'll be sharing some stuff about my OCs. Some of them have been retrofitted into the Cycle of Death, a few of them did not make the cut for one reason or another. I won't say which, so if/when they show up, it will be a surprise.

With that said, Let's get into these two.

Queen Mathilde Ars Estellae, The deposed princess of the Holy Kingdom of Estellae. In her childhood, she was a willful, rebellious princess who didn't see the point in leading Estellae, as the true power behind the throne was the Tetrarchy, the 4 gods who created the land and had a physical form. She tended to run away with her knight and her attendant always close behind. The three were inseparable, and this habit to run away and hiding from the Royal Guard manifested in her Dus (a special power most people get during early childhood), the ability to hide herself and others in plain sight. After Roke was created, she used her Dus to create a hiding place from the Crystal army, and started to create a resistance against the Crystal Princeps. In the present day, she's 86 years old, and shows no signs of stopping. Even 60 years after the rise of Roke, she still misses her friends, but knows her duty to the people comes first. Snarky and and a bit rude, she can put on the façade of a proud diplomat when the moment calls for it. Her son was brainwashed to join the Crystal Army, and she dotes and watches over her granddaughter, who is just as rebellious as she was in her youth.

Shane Rolfe was a boy of humble origins. The seventh child of a farmer, he was given over to work on the castle kitchens when he was 7. There he grew close to the Princess Mathilde and the Tetrarchy's chosen, both children his age. With time, the chosen became the Princess's appointed knight, while his closeness to the Princess made him rise the ranks into his attendant and chamberlain. His Dus made him aware of other people's feelings, and even make people feel any emotion he desired. He was too gentle to use it for harm, though, mostly using it to calm down others when they felt stressed or overwhelmed. When he was 16, he found an immense source of despair by the Royal Woods while looking for Mathilde. The despair came from an entombed piece of quartz. Through his Dus, the quartz presented itself as the seventh god, Glint, and that he just wanted to be free of his prison. Shane tried to use his Dus to calm him down, but accidentally ended up mixing his consciousness with Glint's, creating a new entity known as Roke. Roke is a being that just acts on the basest of desires. The resentment Glint felt at his imprisonment and Shane's desire for people to get along mixed to create the Crystal Princeps, a being that wishes to assimilate the world into his banner, his subjects thralls of his desire without independence. Shane and Glint are not in control of Roke, and can only watch, frozen in time, as Roke twists their desires into the Crystal army.

These two, as well as the knight, are the reasons my story even takes place. Next OC talk (whenever that is) will be about the Seven Gods (the Tetrarchy, The Mothers, and Glint)

My OCs - Bashir

At first, he was meant like a one-off character, but he somehow got involved in stuff.

Here's his first picrew (it was done in a hurry, he should have darker, olive-brown skin and black eyes, more accurate depiction in the end):

Bashir "Banshee" Levi [early 20s, he/him, heterosexual, Turkmenian]

Bashir was born in Turkmenistan, as an only child to his parents. He was raised a Muslim, and his dad always praised him on his ability to read and cite Quran. Till this day, his accent is very thick and melodic.

He grew as a slanky, disobedient child, rather defiant, but not in a harmful way, his mischevious streak is that of a jester and prankster. As a teen he told his parents that after much deliberation, he does not believe in Allah and this is where his dad lost it. Mr Levi blamed his wife for all this and started abusing his family economically, not giving them any money, not allowing his wife to leave the house without a man anymore, portioning the food. When that didn't help, he started threatening to kill his infidel son. Soon after Mrs Levi made a desperate decision to take just some clothing and the little money she had, and fled the country, heading to Vermillion, where she hoped nobody would be able to find them.

Bashir was finally safe, but soon it turned out, Mrs Levi did not speak English or any other international language well enough and to ensure their survival, she started stealing food and necessities. Caught, both she and Bashir were found guilty and were separated to serve the sentence as slaves. Bashir was not told how long this sentence actually will last.

Now a young man, he is still defiant, rebelious and owned by one of the Council members, Lady Shiroi. This inconspicuous, plump woman is known for having many a slave, and as it turns out later, some of them are illegally mistreated. Nevertheless, Bashir is lucky. He lives in a luxiourous house, is now well-fed and dressed elegantly. He learns to tolerate the black choker-collar to emerge stronge at the other end of this ordeal and help his mum as a grown man.

But his plans for the future change, when in a restaurant he works (not for his own money, all of his salary goes directly to Lady Shiroi), he meets an even more rebellious punk rock girl, an angel actually, named Maddison. His devious grin and black eyes goes straight to her, and soon, the duo will be breaking all rules they can, so before she gets back home to Heaven, Banshee scores an angel, falls madly in love, loses his job and is under house arrest.

As soon she is back, she comes up with a masterplan, which they are crazy enough to enact. While doing an undercover mission for the Council, they decide to flip everyone a bird and just leave this place behind. After a long flight with some stops, Bashir is met with a snarky owner of the Monegasque nightclub Hell, named Stanley. The youngsters just don't yet how much trouble this will cause back in Vermillion…

(Lmao Steve IS the authority) Steve has to deal with your snarky remarks everytime he tells you to so something or when he's scolding you on your safety. Everyone's surprised on how much patience he has with you, and how he makes excuses for you but not without scolding you later on.

He's not very amused when you would flirt back with anyone who's hitting on you, giving you that serious that 'Captain' look.

At first, Steve doesn't understand the whole alternative or goth fashion thing, but he grows more open to it when you would explain more to him. He still has trouble understanding it, but he does love how you can be carefree about your fashion style.

Bucky is a little worried when you would talk back to authorities, and tries to tell you not to overdo it because he doesn't want you to have to deal with any punishments. But if you're defending him, he feels more flattered and vulnerable.

He chuckles a little at your dark humor, only for the team to sit in shock when he does.

But he's not very amused when you would make such comments when people are flirting with you. Out of jealousy, he grabs your hand and drags you away, only to be grumpy when you would joke about it (you gotta make it up to him with hugs and kisses later).

He really likes your style and he admires how you can just be yourself (rip anyone who makes any mean comments about it).

You are Tony's ideal match and worst nightmare (Rhodey just says this is everyone's worst nightmare though). You two always give authories (Steve cough) a difficult time, and they have to deal with the both of you. But that comes back to you later since the both if you are sarcastic and snarky, you would end up having a comeback match with each other, which would last all day.

He gets your sense of humor which can match with how sarcastic he is (on how he uses humor at the wrong times).

When you would make a bunch those comments, Tony agrees with you and then playfully says he's much more of a prince than you are, just to make you a little jealous on purpose.

Yes, Tony says you look like you came out of a rock band (I get this alot) and comes up with a bunch of nicknames for you based off of your appearance.

Sam thinks it's usually funny and entertaining when you would talk back to authorities (Steve) sometimes, but if it's more of a serious situation, he warns you to take it more seriously.

He teases you about where you got your sense of humor, and always expects you to have some dark joke in a casual conversation (even at the wrong times). Sam doesn't really mind it, and would laugh at how shocked people are that he's not bothered by it.

Sam admires your fashion style and jokes about you getting into any trouble, only to laugh when you would come up with a snarky comeback.

Scott...is either shocked or confused everytime you talk back to the authorities. But then, he thinks it's cool and tries to copy you, only to get yelled at or look pretty stupid later on.

He has a blank stare whenever you would make dark jokes or remarks, only to say something like, "uh...what just happened and where did that come from?" As a whole, he doesn't really understand dark humor.

When you flirt back with people, he jumps in and gets defensive, trying to shoo away the person who was hitting on you, not caring if he looks ridiculous or not.

Scott thinks your fashion style is so cool, and wants to dress like you, only to probably backfire when Cassie says she wants to dress like you as he would get all defensive about it.

Peter gets worried when you would talk back to authorities, and gives you a small warning such as a light bump on your back or shoulder to get you to stop. He's trying to get used to your dark humor, but he's glad that you're able to get along with MJ so well due to your humor and fashion style.

When people flirt with you, he can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not when you would say such comments. He starts getting all pouty and gives you puppy eyes, to get more of your attention.

At first, Bruce would be really silent and feel awkward about you being rebellious. Now, he does tell you to back down, to everyone's surprise.

Your humor on the other hand? To everyone's shock, he actually laughs at a few if your dark jokes (only if he can relate to them).

He's not really bothered by your fashion style. He actually finds it ironic how sweet you can be sometimes.

Thor is not very fond of how rebellious you can be - this actually worries him, especially since it reminds him of how he used to be, and he doesn't want anything to happen to you, and he tries to get through to you.

He actually finds himself laughing at your dark humor, which surprises everyone (well, he does hang around Loki).

He finds how you dress is unique and praises you on how beautiful you are. Thor does wish people shouldn't judge you for how you dress and how suspicious they are of you, only to want to show them just how loving and caring you really are.

You're an ideal match for Loki. He just finds it's entertaining when you would always talk back to the authorities, and sits back and watches. When it comes to your dark humor, he completely understands and finds it hilarious.

But if you flirt back with people? Loki gets jealous easily so he went hestitate to steal you away and remind you who you belong to while having his way with you.

You have lots of common with Loki when it comes to your fashion style, and does think it's fasinicating how someone can have so much in common with him. He also surprises you with accessories to match with your outfits.

You and Pietro can also be everyone's worst nightmare. He can be really stubborn especially when it comes to any authorities, and what makes it more of a handful is when you would tag along with him.

He understands a little of your dark humor and finds some of your jokes funny, but it goes to an extent. Some jokes may end up triggering him ('cause of HYDRA) and he takes that very seriously.

Pietro gets jealous easily, so flirting with the person who's hitting on you will cause him to drag you away, making you have to deal with him being all grumpy.

He doesn't really care about your fashion style since he's more fixated on your personailty than anything else.

Jughead (2015), Issues 1-6: Discussion and Commentary

"I am like unto a god, Archie Andrews. Respect me as such."

Recently re-typed and ready to go, here is a broad discussion of the first volume of the Jughead reboot comic series. I was originally going to review each issue individually, but given that the first six comprise one story arc, I decided to do the whole volume in one go. That means this is a bit crunched for time and therefore not quite as in-depth as I wanted to go! But I encourage you to read the comics for yourself, if you are able.

This will not be spoiler-free, for the record! The images here are taken from my own copy using my phone, so they're not the best quality! But they also aren't especially crucial to this commentary, so you'll have to bear with me.

I just really like the inside cover art for this volume, alright (it's also the cover of issue 5)? I can't help it, I'm aro, I see heart imagery and something in my brain goes haywire.

When we first meet Jughead at the beginning of Volume 1, he comes off as lazy and apathetic, at least on the surface. After an all-nighter of playing video games, Jughead is dragged to school by Archie. There, they find that Betty has started a new campaign to save Fox Forest, a beloved local greenspace that is being threatened by Veronica’s wealthy father, Mr. Lodge. Jughead is… not very interested in Betty’s cause, to put it politely. It’s not that he doesn’t care about Fox Forest, but he does not believe that Mr. Lodge would be convinced to change his mind by a petition. He tells Betty as such, and she remarks that he lives a very hollow life.

“Man, you’re so cynical,” Archie tells him. “Is there anything you’d actually fight for?”

The answer is yes. What ultimately gets Jughead to fight for something? Food—well, kind of, but we’re getting ahead of ourselves.

When Archie and Jughead get to class, they learn that the principal of Riverdale High, Mr. Weatherbee, is being replaced out of the blue by a new guy called Stanger. Stanger is a stiff, serious type, and he immediately starts making changes: new uptight teachers, a strict dress code, new bootcamp-esque curriculum, and most importantly, supposedly nutritious slop to replace the food in the cafeteria.

This sends Jughead down a bit of a rebellious path—he’s not a rule-breaker, but he’s perfectly comfortable with bending the rules in his favor while narrowly skirting around getting into trouble. He starts selling burgers in the cafeteria, with the proceeds benefitting Betty’s fundraiser for Fox Forest.

(Hell yeah, Jughead, unionize that student body! Sell those burgers! You have nothing to lose but your chains!)

This stunt gets Jughead on Stanger’s bad side immediately, and a slowly simmering feud between them ultimately boils over when Stanger plants a knife in Jughead’s backpack to get him expelled. Thankfully, his dad is able to talk his sentence down to a week’s suspension, but that doesn’t stop his friends (and his mother) from worrying about him.

As an aside, I’d like to take a moment to appreciate Mr. Jones.

“Something’s off here and I’m not sure what it is, but I am sure Jughead didn’t bring a knife to school. My boy’s weird, but he’s not a criminal.”

I really like this line from him to Betty. He clearly knows his son and is willing to stand up for him, and it’s comforting to me, especially viewing the story through the lens of Jughead being aroace, that Mr. Jones is not at all bothered by his son being a bit on the strange side, as long as he’s still a good kid. Nothing but respect for Forsythe Jones II in this house.

Something fun and unique about this volume in particular is that in every issue, Jughead either falls asleep or passes out, and has an elaborate imaginative dream about the events of the story. In one he’s a pirate, for example, and in another he’s visited by a descendant of Archie’s from the future, who belongs to the time police. But towards the end of the volume, the line between these daydreams and reality seem to blur for Jughead. He comes to the conclusion in one particular nightmare that Stanger is trying to brainwash them all into becoming mindless agents for his evil organization—and then he realizes he may not be that far off from the truth.

Jughead brings this realization—that Stanger is using the school as a sort of training ground for secret agents—up to his friends, and understandably, they aren’t convinced. They worry that the compounded exhaustion of multiple all-nighters playing games and the stress of being suspended has started to get to Jughead, but he vows to prove it to them.

I mean, damn, Betty, that kind of hurts. (Don’t worry, Betty is actually a good friend, as I’m sure we’ll get into later in the series.)

To make a long story short (and to avoid spoiling the entire plot for those who haven’t read it!), Jughead does find proof, and once he does, his friends are immediately on board. They are ultimately able to save the day, and once it’s revealed that Stanger and the new teachers are ex-CIA trying to brainwash the students (no, seriously), Mr. Weatherbee is re-instated as principal and things return to normal.

I’m leaving out a lot of nuanced details, mostly for the sake of time, but there are a lot of surprisingly weighty moments to this first arc, and Zdarsky’s character writing is incredibly endearing and funny, while still hitting the serious moments when it needs to. There’s an interesting underlying commentary in this arc about military recruitment and U.S. propaganda; Stanger says that he specifically chose Riverdale because the students are so average. There’s something to be said here about the way the military industrial complex preys on average or underprivileged teenagers to convince them to serve when they feel they have no better path to take. It’s an almost funnily serious commentary for Zdarsky to make with a seemingly silly and off-beat comic series, and I respect him for that.

(If you recognize this panel, it’s because it appears on the page where Jughead’s asexuality is canonized. What a good page. So good that nobody ever points out this panel.)

By the end of Volume 1, we see that Jughead maybe isn’t as apathetic and careless as he seemed to be. Sure, he got up in arms about food of all things in the beginning, but it stopped being about food very quickly, once he realized that something truly messed up was going on. And it bothers him, deeply—at one point, the gravity of the situation begins to weigh on him so heavily that he nearly gives up entirely, convinced that there is nothing they can do and that they ought to just lie low until they make it out. But he does end up making things right, with the help of his friends, and in the end, he does decide to help Betty out after all. It’s the least he can do, really. You do get the impression that although Jughead’s friends often don’t take him seriously, they’ll always have his back when it counts—and he’ll do the same for them, even if he’ll insist on being a bit snarky about it.

(That slightly cynical attitude is still there, though, and truthfully, Jughead wouldn’t be the same without it.)

To close out, I am just going to share some of my favorite panels/quotes that didn’t fit elsewhere, including some choice Aro Moods. I hope this (admittedly brief) discussion of Volume 1 convinces you to read the comics, and to join me again when I cover the next arc. Until then, cheers to Chip and Erica.

Monkie Kid/JTTW OC: Liang Xingti

Okay, so this bio is going to be pretty messy, mostly because I’m really tired these days, but also because I’m still reading Journey to the West, and still waiting on the new seasons of the show. So I can’t go into details too deeply until I find out more, this is more of a general outline of what I have in mind for her so far!

Name: Liang Xingti (亮星体),Tong Bi Yuanhou (通臂猿猴) Nickname: Gab Gender: Female

Liang Xingti, also known as the Long/Magic Armed Gibbon or just „Gab”, much like Wukong, she’s one of the Four Spiritual Monkeys, see the one and only mention in Journey to the West:

„The third kind is the magic−armed gibbon that can catch the sun or moon, shrink mountains, see what is auspicious and what is not, and fool around with heaven and earth.”

History: Xingti was born from a cloud after a full solar-eclipse, as the circumstances of her birth concerned Heaven she was soon taken in by Taibai Jinxing, the Gold Star of Venus, as a discipline. She grew up in the Heavenly Court, and was trained in combat by Erlang Shen. Despite now being a Heavenly Warrior she was mostly running errands for Jinxing and the Jade Emperor. After Wukong showed up in Heaven she was really intrigued by him, as she never met a monkey like her before. She developed a strange mix of appreciation and irritation towards Wukong as time went on, and after he became the Great Sage Equaling Heaven the two of them became semi-friends, usually sparring together. Wukong also showed her a new perspective on life, and she began to internally question her life and role in the heavenly court. When Wukong rebelled against and rampaged through Heaven she tried to fight him as well, and meanwhile normally they were pretty evenly matched, she didn’t stand a chance, as her doubts held her back and Wukong’s rage filled War Form was simply way out of her league at the time. After the Buddha trapped Wukong under the mountain her doubts in Heaven increased, now with added guilt on top. After Heaven banished Sandy, and their treatment of Bai Long Ma, she finally had enough and tried to leave Heaven. She was warned by her master Jinxing that Heaven might take this as an act of rebellion, so she was forced to stay, but she took more and longer trips to Earth. When she heard Wukong was freed she occasionally visited him and his company of their Journey, though his situation left a bad taste in her mouth. After this she spent the next few hundred years doing the same, running errands for Heaven and fighting demons on their orders.

(The following is mostly relevant to the 4+1 Monkeys AU)

In the present day she was sent by Heaven to Earth to find Wukong and get help to investigate and try to capture Macaque for reasons the Jade Emperor didn’t share with her, this lead to her being suspicious about her mission from the start. When she went to Flower Fruit Mountain to get Wukong’s help, she ran into MK, and soon found out that Wukong trains him as his successor, which lead the two of them to having a fight, and Xingti leaving to capture Macaque alone. However she was followed by MK who offered to help her, which she accepted, endangering MK in the process. Of course Wukong showed up last minute and the two of them captured Macaque. Later Xingti revelaed she doesn’t want to turn Macaque over to Heaven until she finds out more about their motivations, so she decided to stay on Flower Fruit Mountain with Macaque as their prisoner until they find out more, which left Wukong less than impressed.

Personality: Having grown up in Heaven, Gab was a model discipline, she never questioned authority, or the orders she was given. She was trained to be level headed and controlled as Heaven was vary of her possible wild nature. After she met Wukong and started to question Heaven she slowly became more rebellious, second guessing her orders and asking too many questions. As she spent more and more time on Earth and away from Heaven, she developed a loud, brash and snarky personality, she has a crude sense of humor, and likes to mess with people for the fun of it. She’s playful but likes to see just how far she was push someone by annoying them before they get pissed off. However also having grown up in Heaven, she grew up pretty isolated, and making meaningful connections is pretty hard for her. She doesn’t handle rejection well, and gets quickly angered when she feels confused or conflicted about something, specially if it’s relationship related. She also uses this to hide her sensitivity, which she views as a weakness. She mostly tries to show the affection and fondness she has for someone by being an absolute pest in their lives, and hope for the best.

Powers and Abilities:

She has all the standard abilities of a Spiritual Monkey and a Heavenly Warrior, including: -Immortality -Super strength and super speed -Chi manipulation -Cloud Generation -Flight

Other Abilities: -36 Heavenly Transformations (much like Wukong, she can’t change her tail) -Cloud Clones -She can use the essence of the Sun and Moon for various spells and magical abilities, she can also cause full lunar and solar ecplises by forcing the sun and the moon to move in place, this gives her a full power boost however this is also one of the things that can kill her. -Size changing of objects: She can change the size of anything to any size at will. -Fortune Sense/Opportunity Sense: She can sense how favorable a situation/decision could be.

Weapon: Her staff, made out of a droplet of Sun and Moon, is her signature weapon. She usually keeps it in her belt on her back, in it’s basic Handle form. She can command it to grow into a staff, which is how she usually uses it in combat. And at it’s strongest, she can summon a Sun and Moon blades on each end, as it’s third form.

Relationships:

Sun Wukong: She has sort of a back-and-forth relationship with Wukong. She loves to annoy and pester him and constantly challenge him to sparring matches, as they’re one of the few people who actually pose a challenge to the other. She likes to get a rise out of him, to knock him down a peg from his high and mightiness. She also loves to constantly remind him of his embarassing events in Heaven. Generally she’s just a little shit towards Wukong, but in a friendly, familiar way. To Wukong she’s more of an unwelcome nuisance that he’d rather avoid, but at the end of the way they both hold a fondness for eachother, just locked away deep, deep down, due to their shared experience with Heaven, and really both of them would rather die than ever admit it out loud.

MK: Much like Wukong, she likes to bully MK in the friendly way. She constantly pesters and makes fun of him, sometimes even „showing him some fighting moves” just so she can knock him around a bit. She sees the potential in him, how powerful he could become, and how he’s better than any of them ever were. However this is also the reason she doen’t go easy on him. Despite all this she has a soft spot for MK, when she’s not messing with him, she’s always telling him cool stories of her and Wukong’s old days, that didn’t make it into the legends. She also always makes sure to tell the embarassing bits about Wukong.

Macaque: Her relationship with Macaque is… complicated and a massive WIP to put it simply, so this one will be super brief.

After they captured him, Xingti basically became his de facto prison warden. She constantly followed him around and just kept an eye on him in general. Because of this she soon became super intrigued by him, not only beause he was the second Spiritual Monkey she ever met, but mostly because she felt as if they were on a common wavelength. After Macaque’s initial escape attempts, and various arguments with Wukong, she set out to try to understand him and his past. As time passed and Macaque actually warmed up to them they grew pretty close. As it turns out they have a similiar sense of humor, and both of their favourite hobbies is making Wukong miserable, she quickly grew a soft spot for Macaque and before she even realised it she had all but developed a crush on him. Macaque had soon noticed the obvious changes in her behaviour, and as he had been faking his redemption this whole time, he decided to take advantage of her feelings for him. He played along and peretended to fancy her as well, they have even developed sort of a romantic relationship, (this whole thing of course didn’t leave Macaque as unaffected as he liked to believe) and things were actually pretty good, until Macaque saw an opportunity to betray them and make it hurt. This of course left Xingti more than emotionally devastated, and she swore to make Macaque pay herself. This is pretty much what I have in mind so far, I'm sure I left out a lot, I'll add them later when I remember them! And hopefully I'll draw a ref of my other OC, Mandy, the 4th Spiritual Monkey soon as well!

OK *cracks knuckles* i think while they all have a love for music they all have VERY different tastes. i always thought sweet would have the more intense/"rebellious" taste of the three, usually liking standard rock but also taking a liking to breakcore and hard EDM (they're probably the most at risk of getting found by queen for music rebellion acts their stuff is LOUD) ("the louder it is, the stronger the SOUL resonation is!") ("YOURE GOING TO BLOW YOUR SPEAKERS OUT TURN IT DOWN") if it was a late night staying up working on commissions/tracks/being sleepless in general (which is often) the others will make sure they keep the louder songs to a minimum since on multiple occasions, when sleep deprived their voice speaker tends to. die on them if overclocked and they not only can't play tunes but they also can't SPEAK

capn i think has a bit more of an eye for just the groove of the song more than the volume, HUGE jazz fan but also slower rock songs + the always appreciated EDM the three all enjoy together (DEFINITELY not as loud as what sweet puts on but they all enjoy EDM together) (also current day/later gorillaz is exactly what i'm looking for here you are so smart) (they usually say "if the beat's good, i can bear it" whenever asked why they like what they like) they claim to have their own tastes but often can be found peeking in on the other's playlists and getting ideas (they SWEAR it's not stealing, just inspiration!)

now K_K. THIS is where you find oliver buckland/metaroom type beats. music to space out to basically. as said before she also enjoys EDM with the other 3 but god be damned you put on his playlist and microchip comes on (capn voice) youre keeping that fucking aux cord IN and we are LISTENING to their tunes. they also take a certain liking to some hyperpop, they got sweet hooked on it as well (for the sheer volume of it sometimes) and god be damned if they get capn into it ("this is just. various silly chiptune sounds k_k are you serious") ("100%~!") k_k is the type of person that was an oliver buckland fan BEFORE it got popular off of ENA, they were listening to that man before the backroom labyrinth/hourglass meadow era (but those r still some of their favs ESP backroom labyrinth!)

obv they shares their tastes with eachother, capn usually poking fun at sweet's usual type of stuff ("oh wouldya look at that! another track that'll blow my sound receptors out! nice!"), sweet making snarky remarks back ("capn, where's the fun in your music if you can't violently headbang to it?"), and neither DARE say shit about k_k's tastes, not because they pity/baby him, but bc k_k can dig so deep into their music tastes corresponding to their personalities for dissing their bangers they don't dare provoke them (sweet got the treatment once, i think they sat silently on the storage room floor for an hour internalizing it, capn doesn't even know what k_k even said, no feelings were hurt between the two pals either way they were fine when sweet finally snapped out of , but he fears what they even said to sweet) obv their tastes blend into what they make, but somehow all their strongly contrasting tastes all come together in the end to make their band's tracks really enjoyable and unique!

My personal Ever After High ships

No one asked but I’m doing this anyway. Here are my own EA ships. Maybe I’ll make a separate page or something on my tumblr to list them (idk the lingo here haha). I’ll include my anti-ships at the bottom because there are some I’m personally really opposed to. 

In no particular order:

SHIPS

Darling Charming x Holly O’Hair - This is probably my one of my all-time favorites. Was there sufficient interaction in the show? Hell no, they spoke to each other one (1) time on camera. But they’re perfect for each other, I swear. Darling is a knight in shining armor, and Holly has always dreamed of the whole Prince Charming thing or whatever. She writes fanfiction about it, for chrissakes. Darling can be that for her. Plus, I’ve always pictured Holly as liking girls (no matter what she said in Thronecoming lol). Appling/Dapple is nice, but I think Darling can do better than Apple.

Raven Queen x Dexter Charming - One of the only canon ships, but a good one nonetheless. I really like them together. I forgot which post spelled it out on here, but someone else said that Dexter serves as the privileged, down-to-earth guy who feels misunderstood by his family, while Raven is the rebellious girl from the “wrong side of the tracks”. Even though Raven is still wealthy as the daughter of a king and queen, she’s still an outcast. I love that kind of pairing! Dex is one of the only non-Rebels to treat Raven like a real person. Raven teaches Dex how to color outside of the lines. I think they’re a good match for each other.

Lizzie Hearts x Daring Charming - No, I will not be swayed on this. Lizzie and Daring were the OG ship and another CANON pairing. Let’s dissect: Daring is dared by his friends to get a date with her. She has high standards (as she should) and doesn’t give him the time of day. He has to prove himself to her, not use cheap tricks to get her attention. After he takes her on an adventure (getting her out of her comfort zone), she warms up to him. Then she asks him to keep their date a secret, and he does! He takes the dare’s consequence on the chin to protect her reputation. This is honestly out of character for him, which is why I’m hyping up this otherwise bare-minimum act. This friendship continues into the books, as they interact a lot in A Wonderlandiful World. Lizzie and Daring complement each other, too: she’s a responsible, dedicated princess who never loses sight of what’s important. He’s a fun-loving prince who revels in public admiration. Lizzie can teach him to be more responsible while Daring can teach her to relax and have fun.

Ashlynn Ella x Hunter Huntsman - Not much needs to be said. Ashlynn has a vegan cheerleader significant other and you don’t. Jealous? I know I am.

Kitty Cheshire x Ramona Badwolf - She was a werecat, she was a werewolf.  Can I make it any more obvious? They’re both snarky and mischievous. Plus, Kitty would have a chance to redeem herself after almost outing Cerise and her family.

Briar Beauty x Hopper Croakington II - I’m so sorry for all the straight ships :( I promise the sequel to The End of Ever After will NOT be as straight as EAH. Anyway, Briar and Hopper have so much potential. You can tell that Briar has warmed up to him throughout the series. First it was her turning him down and being grossed out by his frogginess. Then she enlists his help with the True Hearts Day dance (though I have a hunch that this was all thanks to Cupid). Then she tolerates his existence at Spring Fairest (and even saves him from being blown away on the Fairest Wheel). Then she enlists his help again with the recreation spell in Epic Winter. She likes him, people! I think Hopper is a really nice guy and a perfect love interest for Briar, who deserves everything in the world.

Duchess Swan x Sparrow Hood - I will die on this hill. They’re together in the *show* and I can prove it. After they “break up” in True Hearts Day (they were just friends then), you see them in the background together all the time. In Epic Winter, they were together when they were spying on Grimm. Why do they spend so much time together? Are they just friends? Or is there something going on between them? I think the second is much more likely. I love their dynamic and wish it was explored more in the show. Also, someone has pointed out that Sparrow’s necklace is the same shape as Duchess’s earrings. This can’t be a coincidence.

Chase Redford x Justine Dancer - I’ll admit it, this ship came out of nowhere for me. It is entirely based on the fact that I think they’d look good together. Ramona/Justine shippers are entirely valid.

Jillian Beanstalk x Lilly-Bo Peep - My final wlw relationship, unfortunately. I feel like Lilly-Bo is a girl who wants to go on adventures, but can’t because of her needy sheep. Seriously, those animals are constantly crying for her attention. Jillian is freewheeling and can help Lilly-Bo chase her dreams.

Alistair Wonderland x Bunny Blanc - The two most boring Wonderlandians deserve each other. Mattel screwed ‘em up badly. Chase/Alistair shippers are valid as well b/c I don’t even know with these two. I guess I like that they’re such close friends? And that they can’t tell that the other person has a crush on them? Who knows.

Nina Thumbell x Humphrey Dumpty - This is another wtf ship. I headcannon these two as being a year younger than the main EAH characters, and I think they’d be cute together, so it’s a ship. No questions please.

The rest of the characters will either find people outside the school to date or not date anyone at all (yes, I’ve headcannoned Cedar as asexual and aromantic, even as a “real girl”).

ANTI-SHIPS

Raven Queen x Apple White - I think @rebelliouslyeverafter had a great post on this. I’ll link it here.

Rosabella Charming x Daring Charming - This is a personal preference since I’m a hardcore Dizzie shipper. I cringe every time I watch Epic Winter because the show pretended like Daring and Lizzie weren’t romantically involved. There’s nothing wrong with the ship inherently, but I much prefer Daring being the Beast but not in love with Rosabella.

Cerise Hood x Daring Charming - Same reasonings as above, but there’s even less material to refer to with this ship (in my opinion).

Duchess Swan x Poppy O’Hair - Why.

All other ships are fine to me, even if I don’t agree with them myself. And of course, you’re free to ship whomever you like. These are just my preferences.

INHALES okay time for the in-depth post about all the children of these four. Listen, I just like making ship babies okay, if you want to ask why there’s so many, let that be the answer.

In the image, they’re roughly put in the order they were born, which is the same order they’ll be detailed below. Buckle up, cause there’s 11 children I need to go over.

1. Paralya (Antasma + Madame Immobia, She/her)

From a former relationship of Antasma’s. Paralya’s mother bounced after she was born, which made Antasma pretty bitter, but he did his best to look after her. She’s a snarky older sister type, who can be a bit of a bully but still cares for her younger siblings.

2. Lucille (Estelle + Dimentio, She/her)

Ah geez. Lucy. She got trapped in a dream world shortly after she was born, so while only a few days passed in real life, she experienced quite a few years. In the end, she tried to destroy her parents because she blamed them, but once things were fixed and she was freed, she forgot all that, much like an actual dream when you wake up. She’s sweet and kind, and basically eternal baby mode.

3. Luluka (She/her)

So she’s technically not a child of anyone, but got adopted anyway, so yeah. So back when Lucy was trapped in the dream world, she had an imaginary friend named Luluka. Luluka was basically a coping method for her isolation and loneliness. But, when the Lucy escaped the dream, the dream broke down, and all the associated emotions mingled with the leftover magic... Poof! Luluka was born! She retains Lucy’s memories during that dream world, and is fiercely protective of her, having a few surprises for anyone who hurts her ‘sister.’ I guess you can think of her as an alter, but given their own actual body.

4. Adonis (Estelle + Dimentio, He/him)

Yet another child who’s been messed up due to time shenanigans. But like, actual time magic rather than weird dream rules. After being kidnapped by his aunt Vendetta and being forced to grow to about 20 years of age as part of Vendetta’s plan to go after her brother, he’s a bit of an angsty mess. Basically the rebellious teen of the family.

5. Daedalus (Estelle + Antasma, He/him)

A pretty nervous sort. Definitely a big nerd, with quite a few self-confidence issues. But that doesn’t mean he won’t stick his neck out for his siblings. Often the victim of Adonis and Paralya’s teasing. He also tends to hang out with Celeste a lot.

6. Hazel (Estelle + Antasma, She/her)

A studious and slightly haughty kid. Despite being the 6th born, she radiates big sister energy. She tends to act like a bit of a know-it-all and suck up to her parents, making her not the most popular among her siblings, but uses her knowledge to pull them out of scrapes if need be.

7. Celeste (Estelle + Dimentio, She/her)

Quiet and not a big social person. She was born blind, and with no magic, and while the rest of the family tries to make her understand she doesn’t need either of those things, she can’t help but feel frustrated a lot. Eventually, she was given Luuke, a Pixl what allows her to see, but she tends not to use him a whole lot. Though she looks graceful and cute, she has a bit of a sour mouth.

8. Blair (Dimentio + Antasma, He/they)

What do you get when you cross goth bat with drama jester? Blair, that’s what. He’s pretty over-the-top and melodramatic, often quoting Edgar Allen Toad and the like. Most of his siblings have learned to tune it out and translate his weird, mopey language, though.

9. Liam (Dimentio + Ai, He/she)

Liam’s surprisingly one of the more normal kids. He’s got a love for the outdoors and doesn’t rely on magic as much as everyone else. She also loves hand-on work and doing things with tools, so has quite a few craft projects going on at once.

10. Belle (Estelle + Ai, She/her)

Selective mute, but pretty, prim, and proper at all times, that’s Belle! A Leucistic individual, explaining her pale skin, she has to mind herself in the sun. But she’s sweet and friendly all the same!

11. Zeke (Dimentio + Antasma, They/he)

They are just a little baby. A noodle. Tiny. Small. Cherish them gently.
