IT IS SOOOO FUNNY like at that point Akemi is 2 steps away from complete man-less freedom. This random guy shows up once again and this time he is trying to convince her to go with the dishonored, disloyal Taigen. I do love the callback to that scene later, when Akemi keeps insisting she and Taigen should stay in Edo, and he says "I don't need to be great, I just want to be happy" and she replies "I want to be great." Taigen thinks his own greatness would be the only reason to stay, so now that it's no longer on the table, they are free to leave. Mizu thinks a woman like Akemi would be happy as a wife to a great man. But Akemi is operating on a whole different system already <3<3 Queen

sure, Akemi holding a grudge against Mizu even after Mizu tries to bury the hatchet is harsh. but also from Akemi's POV here's a random young dude who seduced her fiancee, ruined any hope she had for a happy life, bullied her at a brothel, gave her a lecture on how to be a woman, kept her prisoner at the aforementioned brothel, and then refused to kill a couple of guys trying to kidnap her after he just mowed down a small army
