I have other more important things to focus on than what a very wealthy pop star chooses to wear. But that racism is loud.
#the way a certain subset of this fandom is being so loud about their discomfort with Travis’s friends#also I don’t even understand the argument bc she’s always worn expensive stuff bc she’s got money#she invests in quality items she wears for years#also while she does Easter egg in clothes this is dehumanizing leaves of speculation#she doesn’t pick things to be relatable or fit in - I think she just wears what she feels comfortable in#using any variation of the word ape to describe her style around mostly black athletes is a choice

I’m weak for a Draco who’s love languages are Gift Giving // Acts of Service. What would you say Lionheart Draco’s love language is? And Hermione too! (:
"love language" implies that they're communicating something affectionate, which obviously they have never done, ever! draco has never expressed anything but strictly platonic esteem for hermione and he violently resents any implication to the contrary, of course! /s
hermione i had to go by process of elimination. quality time, i don't think so, as hermione is usually pretty happy by herself; physical touch, definitely not, nor for draco — it's ron and harry who are the touchy ones, not her. (i also don't know a lot of only children who are physical touch people, to be honest.) gifts... probably don't do much for her, although she sincerely appreciates them, just because i never took hermione as someone who put much stock in physical items. words of affirmation touch her deeply — as you may have noticed, one of draco's hobbies is trying to get her eyes to "do the baby deer thing" — something something desire for approval, something something social insecurity vs validation, etc., etc. but it's not her language, because hermione is point-blank terrible at telling people how she feels, even when those feelings are affection.
acts of service is huge, though. hermione spends half of deathly hallows furiously battling the mantle of Mom Friend, which i do not think she really wants, and which, to whatever extent she picked it up, she did reluctantly, from necessity. she doesn't like cooking, but she does most of it anyway. that, combined with her doing ron and harry's homework for almost all six years of their education, was a dead giveaway that service to others Is Her Thing. she'll kvetch and whine and berate the boys for not handling their own business until the sun goes down, but at the end of the day, she will always, always bail them out. hermione granger is never not trying to save the people she loves.
meanwhile, I think draco's attention to Christmas gifts is a bit of a giveaway on his part. gift-giving among the extremely wealthy is a sort of weird thing, because ultra-expensive gifts don't mean any more than moderate or reasonably expensive ones do — it's all the same level of non-investment, from the rich person's perspective — it's just that obviously you're going to go with the ultra-expensive thing, Because You Can, and perhaps just as importantly, Because Others Can't. the ugly flipside to this is how catty draco gets about other people's presents to hermione, especially ron's. it's not so much that he doesn't like homemade or low-cost gifts — hermione gives him the same thing every year (lovely predictable girl) and he adores it, even though an album or two is a quite reasonably priced Christmas present for hermione's upper-middle-class family. but hermione's gift shows that she knows something about him, and has insight into what he'd enjoy. draco makes a point of giving her things that others can't, and she gives him things that others could, but wouldn't think to. which, in his eyes, makes them as rare to him (who could buy anything) as his expensive presents are to her (who couldn't). i think he's very into those performative displays of proprietary knowledge. he also pointedly notices when she wears his presents (which are, by not total happenstance, things that others will see her using); he likes knowing that she likes them, of course, but there's also a bit of spectacle in anything that expensive. because most people in gryffindor will know that hermione doesn't have Everfull Inkwell money out of pocket. and like, if Daphne Greengrass sees Hermione Granger rocking up in a winter coat straight from Wizard London Fashion Week, then uh, yeah, she's gonna know who's responsible.
...not that draco cares, obviously.

Does your oc have a lot of clothes and how much of it do they actually wear?
This was such a fun ask, thank you! I immediately thought of Anita when I received this, probably because she is one of the most vain of my OCs, and always pays great attention to her looks and wardrobe. And also because she can rock a pants suit like nobody else!
Anita's wardrobe is quite big, but most of her clothes were purchased when she was married to her previous (now deceased) husband Jim. Back then she bought a lot of designer and 'investment' pieces, which she has looked after very well and still wears today. (or, more truthfully, she will resume wearing when she finally loses that baby weight!) She no longer has a big disposable income and can't spend as much on clothes as she would like to, so she is now quite picky whenever she goes clothes shopping; she is definitely not an impulse buyer, and always chooses quality over cheaper, 'fast fashion' pieces that may not stand the test of time. I would say she gets good wear out of the majority of items in her wardrobe and her 18 year old daughter, Saffron might also be interested in some of those more 'youthful' pieces that she just doesn't feel comfortable wearing anymore! (one of her biggest fears has always been to be perceived as 'mutton dressed up as lamb').
Thank you again for the ask @shanisims, I really enjoyed answering it and delving back into Anita's fashion history!

glowing, growing 🔮 🍀
It is gently dropping small, delicate flakes of white outside & the air is so still, quiet, like a whisper. My love took the dog & headed out to a town 2 hours away to meet his father so he can spend tomorrow working on an initiative that may prove to be a wonderful investment of time/energy/etc., but not without quite a lot of work first. I am proud of him in a lot of ways, but I will miss him. I do enjoy my down time though, so I will make the most of it.
I had planned on meeting up with a friend tonight after she had dinner with her sister, but neither of us wanted to do much once the sky grew grey & it began to snow. I wrote a list of what I want to do solo tomorrow--tea (I need to reign back my coffee consumption, again), journal, breakfast, eat, go to yoga, get a juice from the place next door to the studio, a bath with the bath bomb I bought at the botanical gardens. Then, get some work done on the photo and/or writing project, buy some yarn to make gifts, write xmas cards, then maybe meet up with that friend I missed today. It sounds like a great solo day, exactly the kind of thing I like to do! A little chill, a little activity/movement in the A.M., a little productivity, a little shopping, a little fun.
It is funny that since I sorted through my clothes & replaced them with quality items I enjoy wearing that I feel like I have SO many options but I have SUCH a small number of items now compared to when I started weeding out synthetics. I have reflected that life is funny like that, sometimes when we lack quality we go for quantity, don't we?
Being deliberate in purchasing/replacing items has been a years-long thing & lately I do feel surprised that interacting with quality on a regular basis is satisfying, though I have kind of always held the idea that spending extra $ on things you interact with daily will make your daily experience more enjoyable. A nice face wash, comfortable bedsheets, decent rubber gloves to wash dishes in. I suppose I will just never stop appreciating little things in life.
Sunday bb will return, we will relax & play BG3, spend our last little bit of solo time together until next year, quite literally. Tuesday our friend arrives, I visit the allergist, then Thursday my cousin arrives, then Sunday we fly to Texas, then it's holiday madness & remote work, then we fly to Mexico, the new year blooms, more remote work, & we return to life & a new semester.
In more mundane news, I told myself that I would learn how to french braid my hair while it's short so I can become accustomed to it as it grows out & I have stuck to my word! 3 successful braids so far, though my arms do get exhausted & I feel feeble every time I braid it. Just as I feel weak every time I do core exercises (2 down this week! pretty good considering I spent 3 full & exhausting days in the office today) at least I'm doing it! I will get better! I can't expect myself to be good at something right off the bat, as much as I want to be for my ego's sake.
I still always feel at least a little anxious after socializing with people I am not intimately close with, & I have done an assload of socializing over the last 3 days, BUT I feel relatively unscathed after this week. 2 fumbles, which I felt I saved, & maybe I shouldn't be cataloging my social blunders mentally but also maybe mentally I'm a little left of center & I should just be OK with that, too, instead of self-monitoring so heavily. Anyway, I think the level of comfort I DO feel has a lot to do with the fact that I really just feel delightful about the people I work with; I really genuinely like them all. They are all such characters, so knowledgeable, incredibly well-intentioned, & most of them are as sassy & quippy as I enjoy in a person without the malicious undertone that often accompanies that trait.
Anyway I am trying to remind myself that bettering is incremental & when I look back at how far I have come I am proud of myself, too. Lastly, perhaps, I must shake the scolding I want to give myself at every imperfection.
It is a beautiful night & I am comfortable, listening to music & watching everything collect a thin layer of white outside of my window. I have things to look forward to, people to love, people to love me back, humble goals, & a deep appreciation for the now. I hope you, too, find a quiet sort of peace as the year wraps itself in darkness & cold. I hope spring makes you feel like you can start over if you need to. I hope you treat yourself gently tomorrow.

So you've mentioned being exasperated by the Vines Boots passage, but you do like A Christmas Carol, do you have any thoughts on Pratchett's Hogfather? Also a very good Christmas story that can be applicable to much of life, but also overly-quoted
Oh, firstly, I want to say I think I come off like a bit of a hater when it comes to Said Vimes Quote, but I'm actually a fan of Pratchett's broadly, and have enjoyed a number of his books, and even within that quote I get what he's saying. And don't necessarily disagree.
The problem I have, is people will ask me about things like intentional wardrobes, style, key pieces, buying quality items, etc, and then get offended that I recommend something that's not twenty dollars. And doubly so since a lot of it a smokescreen. Most people asking me this have functional clothes. You are not asking me about boots you need for a very physical job where you spend the whole day walking. You are, broadly, asking me about a good winter coat that also looks classy. It takes me forever to buy nice pieces too! I just went through years of wearing stuff that was not nicely made, for a long time, so I could fill my can and buy one nice piece at a time with 5 bucks here and there. It's not a choice a human being has to make! But I DO think the way people approach it with me is somewhat disingenuous, and what a lot of them want is an instant, cheap way to have a wardrobe that is high-quality and distinct, and, yes, the only way to have those those things quickly is to have money. I do not, so I have invested a great deal of time, have not varied my look in many years, and stay the same size. It's not for everyone!
Okay, so, let's set all that to the side, my point is really only that I find the application of the quote often used in the same way "there's no ethical consumption under capitalism" is, where it's used to remove the idea that many or most of us have a choice in how we do at least SOME things. THAT is my annoyance. Not with Pratchett himself.
ANYWAY THE HOGFATHER. Yeah, you got it, I actually own a copy and think it's a good, fun, book, though I would resist putting it on the level of Christmas Carol personally. I love the book itself! I think it's one of his stronger works that I've read. And I cannot tell you how much I agree with the idea that fantasy, storytelling, IDEALS, are what make us human! But I could go the rest of my life without seeing that idea that Justice and Mercy and all that are fantasy, because they're not fantasy, they're INTANGIBLE. No one is willingly lying about Mercy as a fucking concept. We are instead lying about the Tooth Fairy, as concept. If we are to argue that Mercy is a fantasy, so then is Cruelty. So then is fucking...Racism! We cannot measure an intangible, but we can see its effects. I mean, that is getting into the shit, admittedly, but also admittedly, I've always wanted to rewrite that scene with me and Death having it out on the issue.
"YOU ARE BEING PEDANTIC"
"Well, luckily pedantry is a fantasy you can choose not to believe in. Grind down the universe and show me one gram of peda--"
"YOU HAVE MADE YOUR POINT"
"SQUEAK."
"See, he agrees with me."
Anyway, for all this essay on what the word fantasy entails, I actually don't get near as salty about that quote! Maybe because I personally have engaged less with it being used in ways that annoy the shit out of me. It isn't used to dodge responsibility, so much. So I can forgive mere overuse, I mean, god knows I've pounded a million things into the dirt like I'm trying to draw water.
I DO wish I saw more of MY PERSONAL favorite quote from The Hogfather:
“You can't give her that!' she screamed. 'It's not safe!'
"IT'S A SWORD, said the Hogfather. THEY'RE NOT MEANT TO BE SAFE."
'She's a child!' shouted Crumley.
"IT'S EDUCATIONAL."
'What if she cuts herself?'
"THAT WILL BE AN IMPORTANT LESSON.”
Which I think about so much, especially in relation to Jewlet, man, i caught SO MUCH HELL from my family when she was learning how to go down the stairs, and I kept telling her she had to go down on her butt or she'd fall and hurt herself, and then, I said, "Okay." and I let her fall. Smacked her little face. Sobbed. BUT, she went down the stairs on her butt after that. It was an important lesson.
And then she didn't fall on a much bigger and say, concrete flight of stairs, where I wasn't there to immediately gather her up.

5 things you should never keep in your handbag
From hairbrushes to cereal bars – these everyday items could be causing more damage than you think. With the bounce back of boho, suede has soared into fashion again this fall in the form of coats, skirts, and, of course, bags. But whether you’re investing in a chic suede tote this season or are adamant about preserving an old luxury leather favorite – being mindful of what you keep in your handbag is crucial for the piece's longevity. Unbeknownst to many of us, everyday items can sometimes wreak havoc on our handbag’s interior, leading to stains, smells, and wear and tear that’s often impossible to reverse. View this post on Instagram A post shared by Emily Canham🥰 (@emilycanham) Want to keep your clutch in check? Handbag experts share the five things you should never keep in your handbag… Loose make-up Cosmetics, particularly make-up and perfume, are notorious for causing damage to handbags. “Lipsticks, liquid foundation, or perfume are prone to leaking if the lids aren’t secured tightly,” says Nia Davis, handbag design manager at Fiorelli. The oils in makeup can leave permanent stains that are tough to remove, while potent perfumes can soak into the material, leaving a strong scent that can erode the delicate lining. Clear Makeup bag -Beauty Pie Always store your cosmetics in a dedicated pouch inside your handbag to prevent make-up mishaps. This minimizes the risk of spills and helps keep your bag organized (plus, it’s more hygienic for your products!). “Make-up can be a particularly tough stain to remove due to the high oil content,” adds Davis, “so make sure to keep lipsticks, bronzers and blush in an enclosed make-up bag.” Clear Makeup bag -Beauty Pie 2. Umbrellas This may not be a problem if you’re always forgetting your umbrella anyway, but umbrellas—or any damp items in general—should never be stored in your handbag once used. Moisture can lead to mold, mildew, and even rot in the bag’s material. “Suede is a delicate and porous material, made up of small hair fibers,” says the CEO of Clothes Doctor Lulu O’Connor. “Water, or wetness in general, can cause the hair bristles to become weak and thin, with time eventually tearing off and deteriorating the quality of the material. “Specialist products, such as suede brushes and erasers, can be used to treat and protect against damage,” she adds. If you must carry something wet, wrap it securely in a waterproof bag and separate it from the rest of your belongings. For added protection, investing in a water-resistant handbag cover can help prevent rain or accidental spills from penetrating the surface. Mini Travel Sun Umbrella 3. Food and perishables Indeed, we’ve all had the experience of dusting off an old handbag, only to find a cereal bar from circa five years ago mashed up in the side pocket. While we all occasionally throw ‘just in case’ snacks into our bags, this can be a recipe for disaster. “Perishable food and snacks are a definite no,” Davis warns. “Even sealed snacks, like a granola bar, can crumble and leave a mess at the bottom of your bag.” Reusable food pouches help curb the problem of old crumbs in your handbag (Alamy/PA) When forgotten about, perishable items can cause bacteria to grow in your bag. This bacteria isn’t always visible but can remain lingering after removing the offending item. When throwing some snacks in your handbag, always store the food in insulated containers or separate cotton totes. Rezip 5-Pack-Up Reusable Citrus Saver Bag 4. Sun cream and hand sanitizer We’re coming out of sun cream season right now, but products that contain oils – such as sun cream, lotions, and hand sanitizer – can be complicated to remove from handbags. “For greasy marks, blot immediately and follow up with a cleaner specifically designed for delicate materials,” Davis advises. Prevention, however, is always better than cure, especially with oils and creams. O’Connor adds: “For leather, a simple wipe down with a soft, dry cloth is usually ample. If deeper cleaning is necessary, it’s important to use products specifically formulated for the unique handbag material.” Coach Leather Cleaner 5. Hairbrushes Sharp objects such as hairbrushes, hairpins, or uncapped pens can damage your handbag’s lining. “Be cautious with sharp items like pens (especially without lids) or keys,” advises Davis. These can easily poke holes, tear the fabric, or scratch the interior. Similarly, clips, hairbrushes, and other sharp accessories can damage your bag’s lining, especially with delicate materials like suede, satin, or leather. The solution? Store your keys in a key pouch, and always use a capped pen, ideally kept inside a separate pencil case. Mango quilted makeup/storage bag Quilted makeup bag -mango Don’t forget about storing with care… Regarding long-term handbag care, O’Connor also advises storing things carefully and correctly: “Avoid storing suede or leather fabrics anywhere damp, hot, or in direct exposure to sunlight to prevent fading and general deterioration.” As we all know, a handbag is an investment; proper care will ensure it stays a staple in your wardrobe for years. The biggest us news Guide to Smart Fashion
Over the past year and a half, we have had the good fortune of not having to Fashion out of our comfort zone as much. Thank you very much, sweatshirts and biggest us news leggings have worked just fine. But now that things are getting back to normal, you might have noticed that your usual corporate pieces are a little... dull? Unappealing? Ill-fitting? Thankfully, there is a way to maintain style while remaining comfortable (yes, our mothers knew this all along).
We turned to Jacqui Stafford, author of The Wow Factor:, for advice on our post-COVID clothing journey. Insider Style Secrets for Every Body and Every Budget, also known as "the style bible," will provide us with her recommendations for the smartest investment pieces that you should have in your wardrobe both now and in the future.
The Lazy Girl's Style Guide According
Stafford, the majority of the smart fashion we only wear 20% of our wardrobe. There are two essential considerations to make when creating a wardrobe that is both simple and timeless: flexibility and biggest us news endurance You can wear the same outfit to brunch with your girlfriends and business meetings in the afternoon. So, how do you stock your closet with simple and timeless items? Stafford says that the biggest us news majority of your clothes should be things you can wear for a long time. She lists ten essential items that every woman requires:
Denim jacket
Crewneck cardigan
Crewneck T-shirts (in every color)
Classic leather handbag
Scarves
Straight, ankle-length cigarette jeans (no rips!)
Classic wrap dress
Knit dresses (anything with a stretch)
Ballet flats
Knit dresses (anything with stretch) Ballet flats 3 Pay Attention to the Fabric The polyester—or, er, silk—is the proof. The biggest us news straightforward fact is that superior fabrics last longer. Unfortunately, when we shop for clothes, we tend to overlook the quality of the biggest us news fabric because we are so focused on color, cut, and style. What's the deal? A higher percentage of natural fabrics can be found on the tags. We're referring to wool, cotton, silk, linen, and any other fabric that your great-grandmother would have recognized.
According to Stafford, "better fabrics wash better, last longer, and hang better on your body." They can typically be kept for decades. Pima cotton, for instance, is wrinkle-resistant and softer than conventional cotton due to its longer fibers. Try to use at least 70% cotton, but be careful not to shrink it!).
Additionally, cashmere is a smart fabric that is breathable and self-regulating to the body's temperature. Cashmere is a fabric that can be worn all year round, contrary to popular belief. No, you probably wouldn't be able to wear it in 90-degree weather. However, Stafford suggests choosing finer-gauge cashmere for the winter and lower-gauge cashmere for the warmer months. And if you're looking for linen, don't worry if it has creases and wrinkles because that's how it should look!
Pay Attention to Fabric
True style is not determined by pricey brand names or whether or not an outfit is "on trend" (which, let's be honest, is frequently a trap for spending more on items that will only last a short time). Instead, having clothes that make you feel at ease is true style. We look good when we feel good. also in reverse. We have observed a shift toward a more casual dress code in the corporate landscape all over the biggest us news country. However, be careful: casual does not necessarily imply sloppy. "The shift now has gone into more luxurious, comfortable fabrics, embracing all the biggest us news technology in fabric," states Stafford. For instance, look for jeans with 5% elastane for more stretch when shopping for jeans. This way, you won't have to give up comfort to look fashionable.
Put Comfort First
Our wardrobe ought to exert the same amount of effort for us as it does for it. Although neutrals are typically considered to be a safe approach to style color palettes, these more muted hues also have a propensity to make us feel drab. Colors are a great way to keep things interesting and new in your closet. "When you wear color, it gives your skin that luminosity, brightness, and vibrancy," says Srafford. In the age of Zoom meetings, we have definitely noticed this. According to Strafford, "when you're dressing, think about embracing colorful pieces, especially on the top half, which just give your skin more vibrancy."
Have A Good Tailor
Good-fitting clothes make you look better. Although it may sound obvious, no two bodies are the same biggest us news much to the dismay of fashion designers. A skirt that is a size 10 won't look the same on everyone who is a size 10. Because of this, having a reliable tailor is pretty much priceless. Even if you don't have a lot of money, a good tailor can turn something simple into something that looks like couture. Stafford asserts, "It's worth it to make small adjustments, not big ones that cost a lot of money, but ones that are easy to make and make something fit perfectly."

Enhance Your Look: The Classic Beauty of Handbags
Handbags are more than simply accessories; they represent style, usefulness, and individuality. Handbags have developed throughout time, from classic to modern, becoming an integral component of any woman's outfit.
Let's dive into the world of handbags and discover why they're more than simply a fashion piece.

Renewal is a powerful tool that can help you revitalize and refresh your life, giving you the opportunity to reflect on who you are, what you want, and how you can be your best self. It's about taking the time to evaluate your current situation and finding ways to improve it. Renewal is not just about making changes to your external appearance but also about creating a positive mindset and outlook that can help you achieve your goals.
When you embrace renewal, you open yourself up to new possibilities and experiences. It can involve anything from decluttering your living space to trying out a new hobby. Renewal can help you break out of old habits and patterns and create a fresh start. By taking small steps towards renewal, you can build momentum and create a positive cycle that will help you continue to grow and improve over time.
What is Renewal?
Renewal is about refreshing and revitalizing yourself. It's about taking the time to reflect on who you are, what you want, and how you can be your best self. It's not just about buying new clothes or following the latest fashion trends, but about finding ways to express your unique style and personality. Here are a few ways to embrace renewal:
1. Clean out your closet - Start by getting rid of clothes that no longer fit or that you haven't worn in years. This will make room for new pieces that reflect your current style. Sell them on the market or donate them. Donating and reselling will help others find the pieces, that no longer suit your new self.
2. Try something new - Experiment with different colors, patterns, and styles. Don't be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone and try something you never thought you'd wear. You might find out you love it. Take Julie for example she stepped out of her comfort zone and started to wear leggings. Now wears them daily because she learnt they were comfortable.
3. Accessorize - Accessories can transform an outfit and give it new life. Try adding a statement necklace or a colorful scarf to your favorite outfit. Little accessories change the look of your outfit easily
4. Self-Care - Take time to take care of yourself. Get a massage, a facial, or a new haircut. These little things can go a long way in making you feel renewed and refreshed. Take time to practice yoga, meditation, and relaxation these will calm your soul down.
How to Embrace Renewal in Your Style
Now that you know what renewal is, let's explore how you can apply it to your style. Here are a few tips:
1. Invest in quality pieces - Instead of buying cheap, trendy items, invest in high-quality pieces that will last for years. These timeless pieces can be mixed and matched with other items in your wardrobe to Create endless outfit combinations. - check out Moon Jewels Boutique for new pieces.

3. Mix and match - Be bold and match different styles, colors, and patterns. This can create a unique and eye-catching outfit that reflects your style. Do you love two different earrings? Wear one of each. There is no steadfast rule on what is right and wrong with how to wear it.

Classic womens clothing caters to the timeless style of mature women, offering affordable, elegant dresses and ensembles that are perfect for any occasion.
In this blog, we'll explore the world of classic women's clothing, focusing on the needs and preferences of mature women who seek affordable yet sophisticated attire.
Classic Women's Clothing: A Timeless Appeal
Classic women's clothing is a category that transcends trends and fads. It's about creating a wardrobe filled with pieces that stand the test of time. For mature women, this is particularly appealing, as they often gravitate towards styles that exude grace, sophistication, and versatility.
Classic garments like tailored blazers, A-line dresses, well-fitted trousers, and elegant blouses form the foundation of this wardrobe. These pieces are designed to flatter a mature woman's body while allowing her to express her personal style.
Mature Womens Clothing: Embracing Your Unique Style
Mature women have a distinct sense of style, refined over the years. They know what works for them and what makes them feel confident and beautiful. Classic women's clothing respects and enhances this style, offering garments that are both age-appropriate and fashion-forward.
For instance, a mature woman may opt for a knee-length wrap dress in a rich, deep hue for a formal event. This dress not only complements her figure but also showcases her refined taste. Similarly, tailored separates like high-waisted trousers and silk blouses can effortlessly transition from the office to a dinner date.
Affordable Elegant Dresses: Quality without Compromise
One of the key concerns when shopping for classic women's clothing is affordability. No one should have to break the bank to acquire a well-curated wardrobe of elegant attire. Fortunately, there are brands and retailers that specialize in offering affordable yet high-quality clothing.
Affordable elegant dresses are the perfect solution for mature women looking for versatile, budget-friendly options. These dresses are often made from quality materials, ensuring both comfort and durability. Whether you're attending a wedding, a cocktail party, or a special dinner, an affordable elegant dress can make you look and feel like a million dollars without the hefty price tag.
The Timeless LBD: A Must-Have
No discussion of classic women's clothing is complete without mentioning the Little Black Dress (LBD). This iconic piece is a staple in every mature woman's wardrobe. Its versatility knows no bounds, as it can be dressed up or down to suit various occasions.
For a more conservative look, opt for a knee-length or midi-length LBD with a modest neckline. To add a touch of sophistication, accessorize with pearls, a statement belt, or a stylish shawl. The LBD is the epitome of timeless elegance and is an excellent choice for any event.
Investing in Quality Pieces
While affordability is important, it's also wise to invest in a few high-quality classic pieces that will last for years. A well-tailored blazer, a versatile trench coat, and a pair of premium leather pumps are worth the investment. These timeless items not only elevate your style but also prove to be cost-effective in the long run.
In conclusion, classic women's clothing caters to the mature woman who values timeless elegance and affordable, elegant dresses. It's about embracing your unique style, investing in quality pieces, and feeling confident in what you wear. With the right selection of classic garments, mature women can effortlessly exude sophistication and grace on any occasion, proving that age is indeed just a number in the world of fashion.

three diys for spring
Much like in an old Western, I find that when the season begins to change my hands twitch to buy new things like a hardened cowboy wiggles his fingers over his pistol, prepared to draw at the slightest prompt. Like the cowboy, I'm perhaps too aware of my own trope: stuff has started to feel like a subculture. The unintentional mindfulness imparted by moving back home has allowed me to finally clearly assess how much stuff I've acquired through a half dozen moves over the last four years and a half dozen more international trips in that same time. I am tired of consuming out of instinct. I would like to extend the grace to my things to allow them to age, yellow, fray.
One thing that no one will tell you about becoming a more mindful consumer is how important it is to literally touch your stuff as much as possible. Feel the fabric of things that you already like, notice texture, stretch, structure. Note what motifs or characteristics that you gravitate towards, get your hands deep into the pockets, zippers, folds. Write everything down. When you know more about how your things are made and work, you know better how to fix them if they break, change them over time to suit evolving needs, and therefore extend their life over and over. To calm my trigger-happy hand hovering over my gun holster, twitching in anticipation of the instant gratification of new stuff, I've handmade some items I've had my eye on or refreshed items I already owned, and in the process created three unique pieces that are not only custom to my measurements, preferences, and personal sense of style, but I know how to repair, edit should my tastes change, and style.
1. Seulgi got bitten by a dog and now I have a new top
To be clear, the dog was just playing and she was definitely fine afterwards. Kitty sent me the video and I have to say, my intrusive thoughts won.
I broke the top down into characteristics that I liked: I liked the color, the open knit texture, and a less weighty yarn for wearing crocheted fabrics in warmer weather. I was getting bored of the 4/5.5mm that I had beaten to death for two large afghan projects last year, and wanted to attempt a mid-size crochet before investing in any finer yarn or hooks for some other projects I've had in mind. I'm still not a skilled enough crocheter to work more complicated things like wearables without a pattern, so I found this pattern online and bought it for $6. The pattern recommended a fingering weight yarn, but I found superfine to be difficult to source at the craft store rather than a specialty yarn store, so I bumped it up to a 3 / 4.0mm and hoped for the best. After some math to account for a lower wraps per inch, the top came together quickly.
I was surprised with how much I liked it, especially considering the amount of scrolling on Ravelry I had to do in order to find anything fitting my exact brief, and the copious edits I had to do to fix a poorly written pattern. It's not perfect (I quite obviously dropped a stitch on the left strap, but in my defense, that's my tote bag side so it'll never be seen), but I'm happy that I was able to create something inspired but not a carbon copy. Crochet also isn't replicable by machine and is labor intensive, so I was glad to make it rather than buy it from a producer with questionable ethics.
2. Reverse engineering
This project was more of an attempt at a 1:1 dupe than my first project, which is much more my typical modus operandi, but I'll rebut that the source material I was working from was of vastly different quality. I found this picture on Pinterest, and immediately thought, 'I could do that'.
I already had the pants in mind when I set out to try this, meaning that I didn't need to wait for the right piece to materialize at the thrift store. I bought these khaki Dickies to wear for a weirdly smart-casual dress code internship a few years ago but hadn't reached for them in a while because of their awkward length and color, both of which I knew I could change if I attempted this DIY. They were also straight-leg, which I suspected the V-split hem would open up just the right amount for a gentle bell shape as in the reference picture.
One thing I knew would be a concern going into this project was the task of neatly hemming the awkward shape of the cutout, particularly the sharp inner corner. As the fabric tapered off, I wouldn't be able to sew it down and the corner itself was likely to fray. To remedy this, I added the tiniest strip of fabric, doubled over to create a clean edge, to extend the width of the hem so that both sides would overlap to reinforce the point. I also pressed and sewed the pleated inserts at this point, also requiring a bit of trial and error. Pleats this small decreased the length of the piece by about half, so I was using an entire yard of fabric to go around the circumference of the pant leg. Some Googling also taught me that a 1:2 mixture of vinegar and water, sprayed on and then ironed, helps keep pleats sharp and in place, so I had to let the inserts hang dry in my bathroom for a few days to let the smell dissipate.
As you can see, I initially sewed the outside set of stitches on the hem (everything in this project was sewn by hand, because I just can't bring myself to invest in a sewing machine), assuming that when dyed black the stitches would disappear. Clearly, I was optimistic about this plan working, because they were incredibly haphazard. Despite being ugly, the shape of the cutout was coming together correctly, and I moved onto dying the pants black using synthetic fabric dye to account for the cotton polyester mix. The first round came out of the dryer an extremely underwhelming gray, but the second round, done on the stovetop, produced a dark gray that I was happy with as a lighter alternative to black for spring. However, this meant that the ugly black stitches running down either side of the V were extremely visible, and I ripped out the stitches and turned to iron-on hem tape to hold everything together and not have to compromise the overall effect, despite initially wanting to stay away from it for washability purposes.
I attached the inserts by turning everything inside out and using the hem tape to attach the sewn edge of the pleats just above the V-cutout, hiding the seam and adding just about an inch to the length of the pants. At this point I was extremely satisfied with how everything was coming together. The final details were just the bows, which I was increasingly suspect of, all the way up until I attached them.
I already had a little bit of chain and sewed tiny loops onto the bit of loose hem on the inside of the V-hem so the join would be invisible. These are, in effect, crowdsourced pants.
At time of post I still haven't decided which looks better, but again, knowing the construction of these will allow me to easily change from option to another, extending the wearability and life of these. The one downside is that I will likely have to spot clean these as much as possible, because any washing, machine or by hand, will totally destroy the pleats because I didn't starch them (I didn't have any, and I was getting sick of running to the store). Barring any major disaster, these will probably spend a few hours in the freezer between wears to kill any bacteria, a la Japanese raw denim enthusiasts. Should push come to shove, I can remove the bow/chain detail and repress the pleats using the vinegar trick because they're sown down, but please, no one wedding-guest-wearing-white me.
3. Reverse engineering, but make it /r/FashionReps hates me
This technically isn't something I did recently, but it's still one of my favorites. I saw someone on Tiktok wearing the Rick Owens Docs, and I didn't even have to Google them to know they would be impossible to find and exorbitantly expensive.
Instead, I kept an eye on Poshmark for a few months before finding a pair of white platform Chelsea Docs for $40. The white leather hadn't held up nicely in color but they were otherwise solid in wear and construction. I rubbed off the finish with some rubbing alcohol and painted them black using acrylic leather paint, effectively disguising any damage. I bought the longest white shoelaces I could find and got them to a dirty gray by soaking them in water with the tiniest amount of black paint. Working first with eyelash glue just to place the O-rings correctly, I laced them up and came up with these dupes.
This worked for a picture, but I had to bite the bullet and drill holes into the boots to screw the O-rings down instead of just gluing them (the coward's option). This ended being the right decision, because they sit much more nicely and are much sturdier. I ended up with a visually similar pair of boots for a tenth of the price that no one but a specific type of Rick Owens fashion chad would call me out for.
Because this isn't a recent DIY, I can report back that these have needed a little TLC after heavy wear to get them looking good again. I'm pretty rough with them, so leather paint sometimes cracks and expose the white at certain pressure points, which is a 10-second fix. The O-rings tend to break, especially at the toes, because they're not really meant to withstand the roughness of shoe-wear, but I have extras so I can replace them quickly. I cannot express how often I reach for these, and how important it has been that I can fix them myself.
4. Conclusion?
Touch your stuff. I'm so serious.

This Jewelry Article Has The Tips And Tricks You Need
When you are looking to purchase a piece of jewelry, there are a variety of things that are important to consider before making your final decision. Being an informed and knowledgeable customer will help you find the item(s) you are looking for which will make the process much less stressful. This article outlines a number of tips that can aid you in your quest for the perfect piece of jewelry.
A piece of jewelry should be long lasting. It is important to invest in a quality piece of jewelry, so only work with respected and reputable jewelers. Quality jewelry will be constructed to last, and show a fine attention to detail. Your jeweler should have all the information on the piece, including where it came from and who created it. Investing in a high-quality jewelry piece ensures that you will have a timeless item that will be just as wearable in 20 years as it is today.
Next time you are looking into making a jewelry purchase, you may want to consider an "out-of-the-box" place to shop. Many home-based make-up companies are spreading their wings and reaching out to a new consumer base by selling jewelry as well as make-up. The prices are usually reasonable and the merchandise ships quickly. So next time you are looking to buy some new jewelry, check out your favorite make-up rep.
Jewelry is often very difficult to purchase for a friend or loved one because there are as many different styles and types of jewelry as there are people to wear it. Bracelets are a great solution for many and are available in a huge variety of styles made for the fanciest of occasions to casual every-day wear. Plain silver and gold bangles are a staple for most women, but charm or sliding-bead style bracelets offer the buyer and the wearer the ability to completely customize the bracelet, as well as give the presenter a whole host of additional gifts to give in the future with the purchase of more charms or beads.
The meaning behind a diamond is eternity, that love will endure. You can never go wrong when buying diamonds, even if your budget is small. If you choose a quality metal like 14k gold and a smaller carat of diamond in a beautiful setting, whomever you're giving it to will have a giant smile on their face despite the small price.
If you're trying to buy a diamond on a budget, look for one that has slight inclusions and is a less than perfect color of white. Oftentimes, you cannot even see the inclusions and "off" color with the naked eye, but it can save you hundreds or thousands on the price of the stone.
IF you're thinking of buying your child jewelry, a charm bracelet is an excellent way to go. Add a new charm at every milestone, such as, his or her first lost tooth. When your child grows up, he or she will have a special story that is attached with each charm.
Part of selecting your wedding jewelry should be taking into consideration when you're getting married. Sparkly jewelry, like dangling diamonds, look best when light is coming from all directions, as it would in a night ceremony or reception. Daytime weddings, especially outdoors, tend not to highlight this kind of jewelry as well.
When buying jewelry for a loved one, you can buy a size that may be too big for them. Just about every piece of jewelry can be sized which means that it can be made to fit your loved one. It is important to keep your receipt after purchasing the jewelry so that you can take it back to where you bought it so that you can have it sized.
If you have nice jewelry, chances are you will want to clean it from time to time. You will want to use a mild soap and warm water, rinse, and then use a soft cloth to polish it. Always dry your gold and silver jewelry before you store it to keep it from tarnishing and to prevent water stains.
Be sure to ask the person you are dealing with at the jewelry store if the gem you are trying to purchase has been treated in any way. A lot of times they are treated to make them look better and last longer, but that decreases the value of the gem.
You should always be aware of how much acid is contained in your body since it can affect the life of your jewelry. If you have a large amount of acid in your body, it can make your jewelry turn black, and it will look like it is worthless when it isn't.
As was mentioned in this article, there are a variety of things that need to be considered and factored into the process of purchasing jewelry. Again, being an informed and knowledgeable customer will enable you to make sound decisions. Apply any combination of these tips to your purchase, and good luck in your quest!
