With my recent Harry Potter posts gaining traction, I just want to make an important note:
You are not a bad person for having enjoyed Harry Potter. You are not a bad person for finding it hard to let go of something so ingrained into your life. You are not a bad person for enjoying the overall story of Harry Potter despite the bigotry JK Rowling managed to smatter into it.
Nobody should be telling you that you are. Your past relationship with Harry Potter is not the issue.
The issue is what you and we all do moving forward with the new information and facts that we know.
And the facts are that JK Rowling is a rampant and proud bigot who is hellbent on using the fortune Harry Potter made her to actively pursue the entire trans community with hostile intent.
And she does not care. She is happy that she is doing it. She is happy that people oppose her because it gives her an excuse to play victim and paint trans people who oppose her as violent, aggressive and evil.
This is not about how you engaged with Harry Potter in the past. Or even how you engage with it privately. This is about whether or not you choose to contribute toward her mission and towards the persecution of trans people right now.
Because when you buy that licensed merch in the store, she gets part of the profit. When you go to Harry Potter World, she gets part of the profit. When you buy the Harry Potter game, she gets part of the profit.
And all of those things result in three consequences:
It shows the marketing departments that Harry Potter is still a cashcow.
It shows JK Rowling that she can say and do whatever the hell she wants and nothing is going to stop that money rolling in.
She is given a steady cashflow which she uses to bankroll anti-trans movements and spokespeople and government petitions.
That is the reality of your choice from here on out. That is why people are asking you to set aside what you once had with Harry Potter and to stand with the people she has made it her life's mission to destroy.
You don't even have to let go of it completely. Just let go of the interactions that directly fund JK Rowling. Just cut off the cashflow she's using to ruin the lives of people she's never even met.
Buy fanmade merchandise or learn how to make your own. If you're cosplaying? Buy unofficial cosplays or buy second-hand off resale websites. Same with other merchandise.
If you want to watch Harry Potter, there are hundreds of non-licensed steaming websites showing it which do not contribute royalty income to JK Rowling.
If you're writing Harry Potter fanfiction, use a site like AO3 which will defend you tooth and claw if she gets desperate and starts coming after fan creators.
Harry Potter might be the comforting memories of your childhood, but JK Rowling is an active threat to the literal livelihood of trans people. People who could lose legal rights and protections simply because of one vicious woman with a bigoted agenda and deep pockets.
All we're asking is that you compare your reasons for enjoying Harry Potter with the facts of why you should make a few simple, easy choices to avoid bankrolling her and determine which is more important.
Or rather, which one should be more important.
And make the right choice.

The different book covers of Frozen novels
Jen Calonita's "Let It Go" aka "Conceal, Don't Feel"
The Russian book cover of Conceal, Don't Feel" (looks pretty, imo) Title translation: "Cold heart. Another story about Anna and Elsa"
Mari Mancusi's "Dangerous Secrets"
... and the different language versions.
Jen Calonita's and Mari Mancusi's "Polar Nights" The variant cover is fanmade (by HAEA1222 on X), the funny edit above was made by DisneyQueenElsa on Instagram.
This is the original edit by HAEA1222, which i find much better than the original. Was it once even planned in the original cover that way and then they decided to keep the sisters standing apart? When you flip the image of Anna in the final version and move it to her sister, she easily can hold her hand, without much editing. I love it.
Kamilla Benko's Forest of Shadows. In my opinion the first cover is much better because you don't see immediately the hidden Nattmara in the woods, only on a second or a third view. Do you see the eyes of the wolf besides the sisters? They're built by branches.
The Frozen Anthology, edited by Heather Knowles and Mari Mancusi, has only one book cover so far, the picture on the right only was preliminary (pls see my post before, where i've shown the original used for other merchandise).
Elizabeth Rudnick's "A Frozen Heart"
I couldn't find any other book covers for Jen Calonita's "Lost Legends - The Fixer Upper"
There's even a whole book series about one topic: The Northern Lights. Lego even made a little movie series about this story.
That's it for now and i hope i haven't missed one of the novels. Let's hope we'll get a bunch of new books for the sequels, Frozen III and IV.

Hey there! First off I want to say I *adore* your art, you absolutely 1000% perfectly tap into the vibe and style of late 90's/early 00's 3D models in a way literally no one else does. I think about your art of your fake games' glitches (especially the forum post!!! it's. *perfect.*) all the time :)
And I've noticed how you're always very insightful and kind whenever you answer asks, so thank you for that!
If it's not too intrusive to ask, I was wondering how you went about finding a doctor to get your autism diagnosis? I've been pretty sure for a few years now that I'm on the spectrum, but I've never had a clue how to actually get tested/diagnosed. Especially since I'm an adult female too, and I've heard a ton about how autism is really overlooked/underdiagnosed for people like us.
But seeing that you were able to find someone who avoided all the common pitfalls and was able to actually help you made me want to reach out. I had been wanting to ask you this for a while (as you can probably tell based on what the question was haha) but I was too anxious to actually do it (still am, a bit ><). Again, feel free to ignore this part if it's too personal or you don't want to answer it for any reason!
It feels awkward to end an ask with that, so I'll bookend it with something I think you'll like: have you ever heard of trsrockin.com? It's an old fansite I used to visit religiously as a kid that talked about early Pokemon and Super Mario games and collectibles from them, as well as oddities like glitches from the aforementioned games, forgotten weird one-off SNES games, documenting fake/trick fanmade "cheats" for games, and bootleg merchandise.
It's one of if not the first public place (afaik) that MissingNo. and pals were discovered/talked about, and a little community came together to try and figure out why the glitch happened and what all the effects and variants of it were. Even you've been to trsrockin before and none of this is new info, I thought it would at least be a nice trip down memory lane :)
It's an old site that has since been taken down, and for some reason archive.org can't properly archive the full site/all its links. But luckily someone created a complete mirror of it! You can find it here: http://catfish.it.cx/trsrockin/trsrockin.com/index.html
AHH THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!! ;__; you're too kind... i know i haven't posted too much of my 3d work recently, but trust me, i have a LOT more of those faux-retro aesthetics in store with the game i've been working on... >=) i'm always so so happy to see other people appreciate janky ol' 3d graphics, LMFAO
also!! i've definitely heard of trsrockin eheehee... i was a bit too young to use it when it was in its prime (and also more of a bulbapedia enthusiast), but i've perused some archived pages before! old internet forums & fansites are just the best thing in the world...
ANYWAY: regarding your question! Honestly, I'm not sure if I'm the best person to give advice about this, because I feel like I kind of got my diagnosis by chance... Essentially: I started seeing a new therapist; she suggested I might be on the spectrum, I said, "Yeah maybe IDK"; I got a referral to an evaluator—and then an incredibly expensive diagnosis after a few months of waiting and testing.
My case differs in that I didn't really suspect being on the spectrum myself. Which seems a bit silly, considering I now realize I am... observably autistic. In abundance. But it was genuinely hard to puzzle out, what with all my other problems (particularly, severe misophonia, which can be REALLY hard to differentiate from general sensory sensitivity.) So about specifically seeking out a diagnosis, I unfortunately can't give a good answer. But I'm willing to talk about the rest, on the off-chance it ends up helpful! (Under the cut at least.)
I don't like to be too open about my Issues™ online—but I got a whole lot of them, and they used to be a lot worse than they are now, so I was stuck in that perpetual "adolescent with treatment-resistant depression" purgatory for, like... my entire adolescence! Because no one knew what the hell was wrong with me. I'm barely in adulthood now, but I'm extremely thankful to be broken out of that. Both the 'treatment-resistant depression' diagnoses AND the adolescence. Being told with authority that I, indeed, have an untreated case of mega-autism—and not an irreparably broken brain whose electrical activities zap SSRIs straight out of existence—is definitely relieving. And now I can confidently say shit like 'mega-autism', so like, wins all around.
About getting a diagnosis in general: in my case, I kind of needed one, because it would be not be feasible for me to go to school/work/exist without accommodations of some kind. (The evaluation I had was, in part, just to get a psychological report of any kind, since I desperately needed supporting documentation to request accommodations anywhere.) Otherwise, I'm honestly not sure if I'd bother?
On one hand, an official diagnosis is an incredibly affirming thing to have—especially if you didn't even suspect it before; things start making a lot of sense afterwards, LOL—but on the other hand, it is a tedious and kind of humiliating process. And possibly expensive.
And then, like you mentioned, there's the problem of some doctors being biased or plainly godawful at their job/poorly designed systems ruining everything for everyone. It's probably for incompetency on those ends that a diagnosis managed to elude me for nineteen years straight. (Vividly recalling the time my school had a counselor give me an impromptu autism evaluation, in which she concluded that I "didn't seem to have autism, but would probably get along really well with autistic people." WHATEVER THAT MEANT.) But! It's not impossible to get someone who knows what they're doing! I'd love to say otherwise, but I really did just stumble into a decent doctor... There's a lot of luck involved, and man. I did not get good RNG at first. (← I'M SORRY FOR BEING A GAMER.)
I went into the evaluation doubting I had it, and heavily doubting that I'd be diagnosed, but like... Hold on let me reach across your desk and slide you the answers to the autism test. The trick is to not even try to be normal, I think. Intermittently talk about CRT monitors, and how you like learning ciphers, and Pokemon glitches—or whatever else you're into. But those specifically worked for me! "Don't mask", is what I'm saying. (Really though, I think if you're answering everything to the best of your ability, properly administered tests done by a doctor who doesn't suck should be able to diagnosis you. If they don't, then the problem is something systemic, and far beyond anything I could reasonably give advice about...)
ANYWAY! (x2) I'm honestly not sure if any of this is particularly helpful, but if you decide to pursue it, I wish you luck with getting your diagnosis!! It's definitely a bit of a hellish thing to do—but dammit, if it's worth it to you, then it's definitely worth doing.
YOUR REWARD FOR READING THIS WHOLE POST IS: "Kinesin_walking.gif"

Hello! I've just read your post about the TERF, and I just wanted to ask, what do you mean by withholding support socially as well? Not tagging or hashtagging anything related to the franchise? Not buying fanmade items nor crating content about it? I think I sort of get all of those. But, what about fanfiction, for example? Is writing/reading enough of a "private enjoyment"? I remember she used to be against fanfiction in the beginning (early 2000s) and that would be a good enough reason to read/write, but does that also give her trackable engagement points nowadays? I'm sorry, I know these are a lot of questions, it's just that I've been at war with myself for quite sometime and yours is, I think, the first post I've seen that acknowledges the very real emotional connection many fans have with the franchise and how difficult it is to just condemn the whole thing. I'm good with painting/creating/knitting my own merchandise, from me to me, for the rest of my life, but what about still reading about beloved characters in a beloved magical world, if it was masterfully written by someone thankfully not her...? Thank you.
Hi, Anon! I’m gonna try to be as empathetic and articulate as I can; forgive me if some of my thoughts are still tangled.
You’re right that fanfiction is a little murkier than hashtags, fan merch, and other kinds of engagement. To my knowledge (anyone please correct me if I’m wrong), there’s much less of a corporate presence with most fanfiction websites (with the exception of Wattpad and maybe a few others). By “corporate” I don’t just mean advertisers; I mean people judging the extent to which JKR/HP is still a global phenomenon: the extent, therefore, of the demand for more content, which is basically equivalent to demand for Rowling as a public figure with a public platform. I’m sure archives like AO3 aren’t completely clean either, but I do think there’s a subtle difference.
(And let’s establish too that on Tumblr there’s virtually no difference between tagging fanfiction and tagging other content for the franchise, given that tags are fundamental to people seeing your writing. Reading fanfiction rather than writing it is still participating in and benefiting from that overall tag.)
The problem as I see it is that Rowling explicitly considers her fans both supporters of and participants in her TERF ideology - she’s the martyr giving a voice to the voiceless, sacrificing herself to the hoards of internet activists. “Fans” includes both people who monetarily support her and people who still engage in the Harry Potter fandom. To contribute to that fandom, even through content from which Rowling reaps no direct revenue, is to implicitly confirm her assessment and therefore her worldview. Even if most HP fans don’t consider themselves to be TERFs, they’re telling her that the series is more important to them than the ideology is heinous. So, surely, her worldview can’t be that bad.
Tumblr both complicates and amplifies this issue. Unlike AO3, content creation on Tumblr is inseparable from content circulation. The reblog system spreads your content to as many people as possible, people who share your interests, by design. Unless you can go through the whole Tumblr HP fandom and individually block all Rowling sympathizers, your content (fanfiction, fanart, fan videos, etc) will almost certainly yield interaction from not just TERFs but people who don’t think Rowling’s so bad, people who might disagree with what she says but surely it’s not as harmful as people are making out, people willing to pay for movie tickets and new books, people willing to make her content trend. Even if you personally denounce her, there’s no way to ensure you’re not fueling the demand for Rowling as a writer and public figure, and contributing to her vast social influence.
As a reader, rather than a writer - maybe you’re not actively providing content to potentially unsavory individuals, but you’re almost certainly going to be somewhere in their circles. If not within, then never too far away.
I empathize with your struggle, Anon. Harry Potter was a huge part of my childhood; I used to read and write fanfiction for it, too. At the end of the day, I think it’s something everyone needs to check with their own consciences. If you’re publically denouncing Rowling (and also!!! publically supporting trans people and especially trans women!!!!!!), and can say in good faith that the fanfiction writers you’re interacting with are doing the same - I can’t stop you. But for me, personally, my conscience will not permit me to engage in the franchise, whether that’s through pirating the new films, buying fan-made merch through third-party sites, or reading/reblogging free fan content. In addition to some soul-searching, I’d recommend seeking perspectives of trans people from all platforms and backgrounds, and then going to other fans you trust and know are in the same boat.
I know this was maybe longer than it needed to be; I hope it made sense. And I truly do wish you the best of luck.
#long post#obligatory disclaimer that i am not trans myself and that you should take any cis person's reading of the situation with a grain of salt#also that last paragraph is my personal opinion and reading. it is not law and it is not me trying to take your fandoms away from y'all#as always - trans people who disagree absolutely please reblog with corrections#and if i'm totally off base/if i've overstepped boundaries i'll delete this post asap#anonymous#obirain.ask#jkr#jk rowling#anti jk rowling#terf mention#harry potter

I've been debating if I want to post this or not. By the time anyone reads this it will likely have sat in my drafts for a while. I just need to get this off my chest; maybe typing it out will be enough, maybe not.
Anyone who goes to my blog can see I'm a Harry Potter fan. In light of the recent (to me, an American who doesn't keep up with what's going on in other countries) news that JKR is a TERF/transphobe, I want to clarify something. I do not support or condone her bigoted behavior.
At the same time, I do not abandon fanmade content or throw away what I already have when a creator turns out to be a bad person. At this point HP is so popular that seeing me wearing a fanmade HP face mask or even reading an HP book that I bought before I knew JKR was using her money to attack trans rights is not going to be the thing that makes someone read the books or watch the movies for the first time. Some franchises are so big that they will be in everyone's face no matter what.
I will not give JKR my money anymore. I will not see any more Fantastic Beast movies in theaters or buy physical copies. I will only buy her books second hand. I will not buy any more official merchandise. Will this put a dent in her earnings? Of course not. I'm willing to bet she makes most of her money from merchandise deals; theme parks, Lego sets, toys, etc.
Go ahead and judge me. Just hear me out first. All my life I've been shamed out of my interests by my older sibling. What they don't like, I'm an idiot for liking. What they do like, I'm an idiot for not liking. It's been years since they moved out and I still haven't retrained my brain; I still feel like I need to hide what I'm interested in and how I enjoy it. I refuse to let people do that to me anymore! I will decide for myself what I enjoy and how. None of you know my life circumstances, so none of you can make decisions for me.
If anyone reading this decides they don't like me, that's fine. Even if we used to be friends. Some people will think I'm a bad person for not letting them decide where I draw the line. Some people would think that even if I exclusively interacted with fan made content from trans fans who want to "reclaim Hogwarts" (as I saw one trans fan say on Reddit). I'm done trying to please everyone. I will decide for myself what I like and to what extent I financially support those who profit from it.
And let's not forget everyone else that profits from the movies specifically. Emma Watson and Daniel Radcliffe have both spoken out against JKR, who is being excluded from the upcoming 20th anniversary reunion specifically because she's transphobic. It's clear to me that the world of Harry Potter can be seperate from the creator.

hey Bedlam i've got a question. so you own a truly massive and incredible amount of star wars clothing... i'm wondering where do you find all your jackets/shirts/etc.? all the official merch is painfully sequel-focused and generic, and google isnt helping me very much. could you by any chance point me toward where to go looking for any sources of prequels/obi-wan/tcw/rebels themed clothing?
Various places! Right now I’m moving a bit away from the stuff that’s really overt and more towards subtle-but-still-fandom, just because I like having clothes I can actually wear to school and still look like a semi-responsible adult in.
For Rebels, at this stage, there’s basically nothing aside from fanart printed on shirts/scarves/etc from Society6 or Redbubble; there’s very little licensed clothing merch at the moment that’s from Rebels unless you’re super into Ahsoka, in which case you’re made. But for the main Ghost crew? Zip, nada, nothing. File under: things I am desperate to throw money at, if only they existed. (I would kill for Rebels to get even a 32nd of the merch that porgs get.)
Rebels Ahsoka:
Ahsoka faux leather jacket (Her Universe, now sold out in several sizes, not available in plus size) -- I have this one, it’s very cute and it’s relatively subtle.
Ahsoka one-piece swimsuit (Musterbrand, also available on Thinkgeek) -- I also have this one, and while I have not actually worn it out for various reasons, I have tried this one. It does have a relatively high leg cut, which the photos on the models make clear; I’m a little wary to wear it out just because it feels like the shoulder straps might slip off easily (it’s not a racerback), but also I have rounded shoulders that make that a problem.
Her Universe also has various Rebels Ahsoka t-shirts at the moment, though they’ve sold down quite a bit since HU’s been having a lot of sales.
TCW and the PT are having a bit of a renaissance in the merch world right now, due to the fact that TPM’s twentieth anniversary is next year and TCW is having its ten year anniversary this year (and its revival next year!). So this is a good time for PT-era merchandise.
Her Universe recently put out a TCW collection for the ten year anniversary, though a lot of it is already sold out on the HU website. Some of the pieces, including the sold out ones, are also available on Hot Topic, but you do have to hunt them down individually, which can be a little frustrating. The Anakin sweatshirt, for example, which is sold out on HU is available in all sizes on Hot Topic.
Her Universe also put out Ahsoka activewear earlier this year, which is mostly sold out on HU’s site (only the sports bra still seems to be available in some sizes), but which has all three items (sports bra, leggings, jacket) available on Hot Topic. I have the sports bra and the leggings; I haven’t worn the bra yet but find the leggings to be really comfortable.
A handful of HU’s Padme items are still available -- it looks like the Naboo cardigan is in stock (also available in plus sizes), as is the Naboo skirt in some sizes (plus, mostly sold out). These are both from last year’s SDCC collection. I have the skirt, which hits at about knee length on me.
while Musterbrand mostly has OT and ST stuff at the moment (though a few of their Rogue One items are still in stock), they do have this neat Jedi cardigan. They are, however, very pricey. Some of their items are also available on ShopDisney, which has more frequent discounts.
Both ShopDisney and Hot Topic, as well as a few other merchandisers who mostly carry the same products), have some Forces of Destiny merchandise with PT and TCW characters, though they still skew OT/ST. Some of these even have Hera and Sabine on them! (Sabine has some solo designs, but Hera only appears in group designs.) The Hot Topic designs (which I believe are all from Fifth Sun) have more variety than the ShopDisney ones.
Loungefly has some upcoming TPM merchandise that’s been announced and is available for preorder, but isn’t available yet.
There’s apparently a Padme wedding dress coming soon.
I own a lot of Elhoffer Design clothes; at the moment she doesn’t have any PT/TCW stuff, though she’s done PT stuff in the past and I believe she has a new Padme collection in the works.
Scavenger’s Outpost currently has some TCW spirit jerseys, which look very cool. (They previously had dresses, but don’t carry them anymore.)
Po-Zu’s shoes are apparently great, though I haven’t bought any because I have pretty strange feet and am wary of buying them online at that price point. (They did have a booth at SWCO last year, so hopefully they’ll be at SWCC next year.) They mostly skew ST; I know a lot of Rey cosplayers who swear by their boots. (They made the ones used in TFA.)
I suspect there’s going to be a lot more TCW/PT merch, both licensed and fanmade, over the next couple of years due to the anniversary and the TCW revival. At the moment it’s still pretty barren (unless you’re really into Ahsoka); in my experience, when things are released they tend to move pretty fast because PT and TCW fans are desperate. If you find something on HU you like but it’s sold out, it’s always worth checking Hot Topic, since their HU stuff moves much slower than on the main Her Universe site. Same for Musterbrand, ShopDisney, and Thinkgeek. (Though Disney’s recent sales have sold out most of their Musterbrand stuff -- some of it is also available on Amazon, though! Sometimes you have to bounce around between sites to check where something’s in stock or sold out.)
For keeping up with releases, The Kessel Runway is THE place to follow for Star Wars fashion and jewelry releases, and The Wookiee Gunner does monthly roundups of animated series licensed and fanmade merch releases.
I hope this is helpful!
#you'd think with there being so little rebels merch I'd spend less money#you would be wrong#kingofattolia#bedlam answers

You don’t like iron man? Doesn’t really matter, just asking really.
Uh, well, kinda?Let me try to explain:
I really liked him back in the first few movies. I liked his humour and his storyline. And I still really love the idea of him! I only have three problems with him:
1. All of his movies have the same character development. He always starts as the sarcastic asshole that cares only about himself and ends up as the friend who actually helps out. And it’s fine. It’s the basic for his character and I get that you can’t just wildly change his character for every movie just to have some kind of character development. But marvel always plays it the same way and always presents it as a surprise, like “Oh look, the guy who helped you out the last time and literally almost died to save you before helped you again!! What a twist!” and it just get’s old.
2. The fandom.Don’t get me wrong here. I’m really not someone who dislikes something just because it’s mainstream, but the fandom just kind of tends to erase all of Iron Man’s flaws and seriously pictures him as a cute little dad who just wanted to raise his kids, which is just...tiring. (I know that not everyone does that, of cause. There is some fanmade stuff out there about him that I genuinely like. I’m also not talking about memes and stuff)
3. The way he is handled in the MCU. He’s just...always there and I was really, really annoyed to see him become some sort of symbol in-universe while Black Widow was just never mentioned again. I mean...how? Why aren’t there any candles for her? People weeping her? You can’t seriously tell me that no one knew about her and therefore no one even realised that she’s dead. The Avengers have merchandise in-universe. Surely someone would have noticed that she is gone. So why only him? Also, why do they need a new Iron Man? What did he do? Why do they need a replacement? I know that he died and became a symbol, but prior to that? He didn’t really “lead” the avengers, or anything and Falcon became the “new Captain America”, so what exactly do they need a “new Iron Man” for? Don’t get me wrong, I would have genuinely enjoyed a new Iron Man movie where a completely new character would step up to take his place as the inventor, the one who always backs the avengers up when it comes to tech and sarcasm. I just don’t get why they had to take Spiderman who was always so independent in the comics and make his whole character resolve purely about Tony. Poor kid doesn’t even have a personal villain - everyone he ever fought was just mad at Tony.
I get that people really like him and I’d never judge anyone because of it, just as I hope that no one will be mad at me for not liking him that much. We all have different tastes, that what makes humanity fun!Also, this was probably way more than you wanted to know, I’m so terribly sorry, but I felt, as if a short answer wouldn’t have worked ;o;
#stiftchen talks#uhhh... I don't know how to tag this because I really don't want to start a discourse?

Thoughts on the “Sailor Moon Crystal” English dub. Season two episode twelve.
this is the end
until they release the season three dub
hell they still haven’t released the Sailor Moon S dub to Hulu, apparently Viz is weird when it comes to how they handle their dubs. we have the cast for S, we know who the Outers will be played by but assuming they dubbed that season already they are withholding it at the moment. I know R is being released soon on blu-ray so once that’s out they’ll probably release S, but I don’t know when season three of Crystal will get its release. and after doing some research the SDC English dub is getting a similar treatment, people have said that the three episodes they dubbed back in 2014 were a test dub while others say they dubbed everything but are not going to release it to the public until perhaps after PH and BT are rereleased onto blu-ray (at the very least we know the blu-ray is coming). so that’s gonna be weird when I get to my Jojo viewing and I blame Viz for it.
Death Phantom looks like the Stone Mask from PB
yeah Endymion’s cape looks white again, sigh
SHINY MAKEUP
habataku yo hoshizora no kanata e
Tsumi ga mawaru sekai de mo mirai o shinjirareru
yeah I’ll miss this song
SHE RISES
fairy tale wake up smooch
I actually like Neo Queen Serenity’s silver hair since that is in line with the manga
also NQS that ring does not look like the ring Mamoru gave you in Stars so I’m gonna assume on their like 500th wedding anniversary he gave her a new one to match her silver and white aesthetic because he respects her commitment to this color palette
once again I think Toei pooled their animation budget towards the later episodes because this one looks good
also I never understood why NQS lost most of her powers
it just felt like a weird thing to have happen
luckily in this version Chibi-Moon is actually powerful, the gag of Pink Sugar Heart Attack being so weak in the 90s anime was funny but at the same time I thought it would have been nice to give her maybe a new attack that gets something done
also my video keeps buffering and its annoying
when you ignore the vocal distortion the way Death Phantom talks does a good job in showcasing why one of Steve Kramer’s biggest roles is Darkonda from Power Rangers, I just wish WIseman’s voice didn’t sound so kindly even though again I know that was done on purpose for a reason
“I am the pretty guardian trainee!” and today is her first day so try to be understanding
HHHHHUUUUUURRRRRGGGHHHHH
since nerds never shut up about there being no sound in space I guess an explosion wouldn’t give off sound either
but who gives a shit? I mean do you want a new special edition of ANH where the Death Star explodes but makes no sound? I didn’t think so
the senshi are so happy and proud of Sailor Moon, I love it
and they’re being knighted essentially, I always liked this
NQS is bestowing new power upon....herself
time travel is bullshit
this was always my favorite Sailor Moon broach
or is it brooch? I’ve heard both
Chibi-Usa really did grow a lot in this arc, and unlike the 90s anime its not reset so we can get more of her being a little shit
honestly I don’t blame Usagi for wanting to see NQS, I’d wanna see how I’m gonna look when I’m older too
I also see this as a good example of how NQS deep down is still Usagi because she’s the one who comes running to see her
Sailor Moon is like “damn I’m gonna be a total MILF”
and the Inners look the same
back to the past to go back to the future to go back to the past
“I wish I could stay longer” BOY DO I HAVE GOOD NEWS FOR YOU
“I’M NOT CRYING YOU’RE CRYING I CAN SEE THE TEARS ON YOUR FACE”
that was actual dialogue, they actually had her say “I’m not crying, you’re crying”
this dub is great
I want a Tuxedo Mask plush
“you’re my knight in shining armor even though you wear a mask and cape”
like this is a nice scene, but seriously two second after it ends she comes tumbling back
yes Mamoru you will see her again, you have no idea how soon that will actually be
oh hai Chibs!
they kept the doodle of NQS on her letter (I’d like to think she puts that on all her stationary)
and I love her giving the little peace sign
a bientot
so that was the dub for Sailor Moon Crystal and despite some voices for minor characters I’m happy with it. I still feel very special over the fact that I met Robbie Daymond and Johnny Yong Bosch this year and having experienced their work in the dub it makes me happier about it. I remember for the longest time I dreamed of Sailor Moon getting a remake closer to the manga and being dubbed over again and both felt like total pipe dreams because for years Toei just sat on this property. even if Crystal isn’t everything I wanted, I’m happy it exists. I’m happy its quality is rising with each season and even though we have to wait until 2018 for the Dream Arc just the fact that we’re getting that season and Stars feels great. now is such a great time to be a Sailor Moon fan. I remember what it was like before the 20th anniversary celebration, at Anime Boston you were lucky to find merchandise that wasn’t bootleg or fanmade. now there’s a surplus of stuff, I see so many wonderful cosplayers every year, and I also see new fans. I feel so happy seeing kids and teenagers get into it because it means this is fresh for them, this is them experiencing it for the first time and they won’t be subjected to the bad slang, mischaracterization, and homophobia from the old dub. I just find it so heartwarming to know the series is thriving because I love it so much and even if there’s things in it that are weird or don’t make sense, I will always go back to it. its that special.
so now we wait for season three and venture off to Victorian era London where a legend began, tune in next time for “Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure”
