She Freak (1967)
"There are only two kinds of freaks, ladies and gentlemen: those created by God and those made by men. I guess both of them had a hand in what you see here."

May I request a fanfic with Dean Winchester x fem!reader, who is into cars and drives an Rx-7? She should be really sweet and innocent and her car-hobby is something you wouldnât expect first glance. She loves drift events and works at a garage. Thank uuu!!!
Have a lovely day and remember to eat and drink enough! đ
We Have Time
Title: We Have Time
Pairing: Dean Winchester x fem!reader
Word Count: ~3,825
A/N: Thank you so much @milkb0nny for the request!! I really got into this story, and I hope it lives up to what you were imagining.
And thank you for your kind words, I hope you have a great read and an amazing day!
A 1967 Chevy Impala.
You couldnât help but stare, your jaw slack as you admired the car. You had a pretty nice car too, if you did say so yourself, but you hadnât seen a freaking 1967 Chevy Impala in a while.
Your head tilted to the side as you slowly walked up to the car. Youâd absolutely love to get your hands on it, but you could tell that the car was loved and well taken care of, and that the owner would probably never let another person lay their hands on it.
You were startled out of your thoughts when someone cleared their throat behind you. You whirled around in surprise and were suddenly standing face to face with two men. They were both tall, though one was taller than the other, with long brown hair. The other was a bit shorter, with cropped blond hair and piercing green eyes.
You could feel blood rushing up to your cheeks in embarrassment. âSorry,â you said.
The taller man smiled kindly. âNo worries. Whatâre you up to?â
You shook your head, your cheeks still flaming. âNothing. Well, I was headed back to work, but I got distracted and now Iâm a little late, but I should be fine, I think. I just love this car and I had to stop and take a closer look and now here we are.â
The taller man chuckled at your tangent, but the shorter man was looking behind you. You followed his stare and came face to face with your own lovely car. Your 1995 Mazda RX-7.
You turned back towards the two men when you heard the blond one finally speak. âThatâs a damn nice car.â
You felt pride brimming in your chest. Of course it was. Youâd kept it in pristine condition, and if there was one thing that you knew for sure, it was cars.
The man looked back towards you and offered a small smirk. âYou like my car, sweetheart?.â
You smiled easily. âI love it, actually.â
His smirk grew as he put on a flirtatious voice shamelessly. âOh, yeah? You wanna go for a ride sometime?â
The taller man made a face of disgust, but you were practically jumping for joy. âReally? You mean it?â
The shorter man blinked in surprise, as if he hadnât expected you to say yes. Why wouldnât you, though? It was a freaking Impala.
You reached out a hand, still buzzing with excitement. âI guess if youâre offering me a ride, I should introduce myself. Hi, Iâm y/n.â
The taller man reached out a hand first, his handshake gentle. âIâm Sam. Nice to meet you.â
You moved your hand towards the shorter man, who took your hand in his. His grip was firm. You smiled as he introduced himself. âDean.â
You nodded and looked back towards the car again. âSo, did you mean it?â
Dean hesitated, looking you over, before nodding slowly. âYeah, I meant it. Weâre only in town for a few days, but why donât you give me your number? Iâll take you on a ride.â
Your smile widened and you quickly recited your number as soon as Dean had his phone out.Â
Sam shoved his hands in his pockets and raised his eyebrows at you. âYou sure about this?â
You nodded vigorously. âYeah, of course. If you guys donât mind me hitching a ride for a bit, obviously. Iâd sit in the backseat, and Iâm a good passenger.â
At that, a smile of amusement grew on Samâs features as Dean cleared his throat. âI think you misunderstood me, sweetheart.â
A wave of disappointment crashed over you. âOh.â
Deanâs eyes widened. âNo, not like- I was thinking Iâd leave the lunkhead behind and the two of us could go for a ride.â
âOh,â you said again, relief filling your chest. âYeah, that's fine.â
You could see Sam stifling laughter, though you werenât sure why. You looked towards your phone and gasped lightly. You started walking backwards towards your car as you spoke. âIâll definitely take you up on that, call me whenever. I really gotta go, but it was nice to meet you, though!â
You turned and ran the rest of the distance, hurriedly entering your car and driving off as quickly as possible in the hopes that you wouldnât get fired for being so late.
From the same spot that youâd left them in, Sam burst out into laughter as Dean rolled his eyes.
Sam bent over, trying to catch his breath. âI donât think she got the hint, Dean. Or maybe sheâs just more interested in your car than you. Youâre losing your touch.â
âYeah, whatever,â Dean muttered, sulking towards Baby. Who cared what Sam said? Youâd said yes to the ride, right? That had to count for something.
He looked off in the direction your car had gone in. âI canât believe thatâs her car.â
Sam threw him a look as he walked over to Baby and opened the passengerâs door. âWhatâs wrong with that?â
âNothing. If you know how to take care of it.â
âRight. Because youâve never even gotten a scratch on your car.â
âHey,â Dean said warningly. âBabyâs been through some tough times, but she knows she can count on me.â
~~~
Dean stood still, staring at Baby.Â
Sam stood to his right, staring at the damage as well. Theyâd been standing here for a few minutes. The worst part about it was that the hunt was already over. There was nothing and nobody for Dean to take out his anger on.
Sam glanced towards Dean, hoping that this wouldnât cause him to go feral. He opened his mouth to offer condolences, but Dean stopped him before he could speak.
âNot a word.â
Sam nodded silently and looked back towards Baby. It definitely wasnât pretty.Â
Dean had been able to fix his car up plenty of times, but Sam had a feeling that even Dean might need some help with this one, if only so that he didnât mope around in silence for hours as he fixed his Baby.
Not that heâd say that right now, of course. Heâd wait until Dean finally stopped staring at the wreckage, first.
~~~
Dean stood a safe distance away from the car garage, leaning on Baby. His eyebrows were furrowed in anger and his arms were crossed over his chest. Heâd love nothing more than to just drive away, but heâd have to come back for Sam anyway, so there was really no point.
Sam was talking to someone about the damage that Baby had sustained during the hunt. Dean wasnât even sure what cover story they were using. Heâd been too upset to ask.
Not that it mattered. They shouldnât have come in the first place. He couldâve fixed Baby up on his own.
He still could. Maybe Sam could just walk back to the motel.
âHey!â
He glanced towards the voice and immediately dropped his arms down by his side when he saw who the voice belonged to. He smiled, the anger in his chest subsiding slightly. âHey yourself, sweetheart.â
You looked behind him and your eyes widened as you saw the state of his car. To say that you were surprised was an understatement. Youâd definitely wanted to get your hands on that car, but you really hoped that you hadnât just manifested an accident or something.
You looked back towards Dean. âWhat happened?â
Dean shook his head and closed his eyes. âDonât remind me.â
You nodded slowly, your eyes still stuck on the poor Impala. âOkay.â
Dean looked over at you. âEyes are over here, sweetheart.â
Your eyes snapped over to Dean. âYeah, sorry. Itâs just⊠sorry. Anyway.â
Dean smiled slightly. âAnyway.â
You grinned. âYou said you were only in town for a while, right? What brings you here, of all places?â
Dean felt a warmth in his chest, thankful that you were kind enough to try and distract him. âMy brother and I are travelers. We just wander wherever the wind takes us.â
You scoffed and crossed your arms. âThe wind picked a horrible time to send you here. Thereâs been a bunch of accidents lately. Iâm getting a bit worried, honestly.â
Dean felt a small smirk creep onto his face. âIs that right? I have a feeling itâll die down.â
You made a face. âHorrible choice of words.â
Deanâs eyes widened and he let out a small cough. âYouâre right. Sorry.â
You shrugged and smiled. âItâs fine. Wandering where the wind takes you sounds fun, though. Iâll have to try it some time.â
Before Dean could respond, you heard someone call out your name. You both turned in the direction of the garage to see who it was. Your boss pointed towards the Impala and cupped her hands around her mouth to shout, âThese boys need a hand with their car! You got it?â
You waved a hand to show acknowledgment. Your boss nodded and walked back into the garage.
Dean whipped his head around to face you. âYouâre a mechanic?â
You smiled with pride. âOnly the best in the business.â
Dean looked you up and down. âIs that right?â
âYouâre the one with the beat up car.â
âDonât.â
You grinned unapologetically. âSorry.â
You looked up as Sam approached the two of you. âHey,â he said, âis there anywhere around here where we can get some food?â
You nodded and pointed. âFive minute walk that way, youâre going to hit a few places and a market. Is that okay?â
Sam nodded. âYeah, thatâs perfect, thanks.â He looked over at Dean. âCome on, letâs let her work.â
Dean looked over at you, who sent him a sweet smile. He shook his head slowly and turned back towards Sam. âIâll stay here, help out with whatever.â
Sam made a sound of disbelief. âSheâs a professional, Dean, she can handle it.â
âOh, I know she can. I just want to see her in action.â
You blushed, looking away with a smile.
Sam rolled his eyes. âWhatever. Iâll be back.â
Dean nodded and watched for a moment as Sam walked away before turning back to you. âSo. How long is this going to take?â
You shrugged and looked behind him, cringing at the damage. âThree days, minimum.â
Dean closed his eyes in pain before shaking his head. âAlright. Alright, thatâs fine. We have time.â He opened his eyes and smiled. âSo. What other surprises are you hiding?â
~~~
âThatâs bull!â
Dean watched you fondly as you yelled at the television that was set up in the garage.
You were multitasking, watching Formula Drift as you worked on fixing up the Impala. Which isnât what he had expected from you, but really, he should have known better by now.
After all, this was the third day that the two of you had been busy repairing Baby.Â
Your time together had started out quietly. On day one, when you had gotten Baby to your workspace, youâd started crooning as if she were a living thing. Dean had taken a liking to you immediately after that.
As soon as you started working, the two of you made progress quickly, much faster than he couldâve ever done it on his own. It was made even faster by the fact that you were splitting tasks and helping each other out whenever possible.
The first day of work was mostly silent, except for a few short exchanges here and there.
But on day two, you two had gotten to talking. You were an open book, no secrets or lies to you at all. Well, except for the fact that you were âsweet and harmless on the outside but a tough mechanic here in the garageâ, according to Dean. Youâd laughed at that, causing that warmth to appear in Deanâs chest again.
You had told Dean a bit about your life, and how your family was no longer in the picture after an accident that had happened a few years back.Â
âIâm sorry,â Dean had said softly.
You smiled. âThank you.â
Dean had found himself telling you a bit about his life as well. That Mary had passed away long ago, and that John had gone more recently.
You had looked at him with such compassion in your eyes as you said, âIâm sorry, truly.â
He had nodded once in acknowledgment before heâd steered the conversation towards something else.
You were easy to talk to. Almost too easy. Today, on day three of working, Dean had almost told you what he had really been doing that had caused so much damage to the Impala. He caught himself just in time, but still marveled at how easy it was to be honest with you.
Luckily, your conversation had been cut short when your boss walked in and turned the television on. âYouâve got to see this,â was all the context that she had provided before walking out once again.
Dean had glanced at the screen in surprise when he saw Formula Drift playing, and looked over at you with even more surprise when you immediately repositioned yourself so that you could work on Baby and watch the TV at the same time.
Youâd been working and watching the competition for a while now, instructing Dean to hand you a tool every once in a while or giving him a job to do when you didnât want to tear your gaze away from the screen.
But even with your focus divided, Dean could see how loving and careful you were being with Baby.
He couldnât help but let his gaze linger on you when he saw how passionate you were with both the Impala and the competition. You were muttering to yourself as you worked, and looking up at the screen every once in a while to make sure you didnât miss anything.
He wasnât even really paying attention to the screen, or Baby, to be honest. His gaze was focused on you.
You threw your hands up in frustration and shouted at the screen before looking over at him. âYou saw that, right? You saw that, I know you did.â
Dean nodded, not really even sure what he was agreeing to. âYeah, I saw it.â
You huffed out a breath of anger and stood. âI canât watch this anymore, itâs too much. Weâre almost done here, do you want to see if Sam has some food for you?â
Dean looked down in surprise to see that you were indeed almost done with your work. A quick glance at the clock on the wall let him know that the two of you had been working hours.
He looked over at you. âYeah, sure. Weâve been at it for a while, donât you get breaks or something?â
You smiled. âYeah. Iâm trying to subtly ask you if I can take my break now.â
Deanâs eyebrows shot up. âOh. Yeah, no, of course. Letâs eat, Iâm starved.â
He turned away from you, but stopped when he heard you groan again. He looked back to see you bouncing on your toes as you watched the screen.
You made eye contact with Dean. âIâm coming, just give me two seconds.â You looked back at the TV.
Dean shook his head in amusement and walked back over to you, gently placing one hand on your shoulder and using his other hand to grab one of yours. He slowly led you away even as you stared at the screen.
âCome on, sweetheart,â he mumbled.
âItâs just-â
âI know.â
âItâs so stupid, he didnât even-â
âI know, Iâm sorry. Come on.â
âDean, are you seeing this?â
âYeah. Yeah, I am. Come on, you can do it, I believe in you.â
He finally led you away from the screen, releasing you as soon as the tension faded from your body.
You laughed in embarrassment. âSorry about that.â
Dean smiled back. âWhatâre you sorry for? I get it.â
You grinned, looking down at your feet. âHow long are you staying in town for?â
Deanâs heart sped up. So you had definitely caught on to his not-so-subtle flirtations over the last few days.Â
You looked up and smiled hopefully. Dean had been nothing but kind and sweet, and you were hoping that heâd at least entertain the idea of the two of you spending more time together. Especially since heâd been hinting at it for a while now.
But as you watched his smile start to fade, you realized that your hopes had only been silly little dreams. Nothing more.
He looked away. âWe donât usually stay in one place for long. Weâll probably be out as soon as Babyâs ready to go.â
You could feel your heart drop down to your feet, but you forced a smile on your lips. âYeah, that makes sense. Traveling with the wind and all.â
Dean nodded, still not looking you in the eye.
You cleared your throat and nodded. âOkay, then. Iâll get Baby up and running soon. Iâm just going to grab some food and Iâll get back to it.â
You turned your back on Dean before he could reply and walked away swiftly. You furiously wiped at your eyes as you felt them well up.Â
You didnât know why you were so upset. Why would Dean put his life on hold for you when youâd only just met? Just because the two of you had some things in common? Or maybe because he had allowed you to be open and vulnerable without judgment. Or maybe because you had seen the way that he was looking at you as you worked, even though he hadnât seen that you were looking at him the exact same way.
You stopped walking when you knew that you were out of Deanâs sight and leaned against a wall. There was no one like him in your small town, and you doubted you would ever meet anyone like him again. Someone tough but kind, eyes haunted by his past even as he tried to make sure that others didnât have to suffer the way he did. Someone who made you feel like you had time to take things slow, and let things click into place.
You straightened and took a deep breath. You couldnât let this affect you. Yeah, it hurt that Dean had led you to believe that you might become something, but when it came down to it, youâd only known each other a few days. No matter how much you liked him, you had to stay focused.
Even if Dean didnât stay, you had a job to do.
~~~
âShe asked you to stay?â
Dean shook his head. âNo. No, she didnât. She asked how long weâre staying for.â
Sam threw his hands up. âSame thing! Whatâd you tell her?â
âThe truth.â
Sam spluttered. âThe truth?â
Dean made a face. âNot the whole truth, Iâm not insane.â
âYouâve done it before,â Sam pointed out.
âWeâre getting off topic. Look, I just told her that we never stay in one place long, and that we were leaving when Baby was ready.â
âDean,â Sam said in exasperation. âYouâve been flirting with the poor girl for days. Now she probably thinks she did something wrong.â
âYeah, well, I donât know what you want me to do about it.â
Sam stayed quiet for a moment. There was nothing that Dean could do to fix this. Not really. Not unlessâŠ
Sam sat up straighter. âOkay, listen. Maybe we can stay a bit longer.â
Dean shook his head. âWe have a job to do, Sammy.â
âWhat job, Dean? We donât have any new leads. Garth hasnât called, and Cass hasnât told us that the world is ending again.â
âYeah, but-â
âWe have time, Dean. Take advantage of it.â
Dean shook his head again. âSammy, listen-â
âNo, Dean, for once in your life, you listen to me. I can see the way you look at this girl. Hell, her boss sees it, too. I know our life makes it almost impossible to settle down, but that doesnât mean you shouldnât try.â âSammy-â
âWouldnât you say the same thing to me if Jess was still around?â
Dean stayed silent. Sam was right, of course. Heâd love nothing more than for his brother to be able to settle down peacefully with the love of his life.Â
He took a deep breath and looked up at Sam. âAlright, I hear you.â Sam nodded, satisfied. âGood. Now, go get her, tiger.â
~~~
You looked up and smiled as Dean entered your workstation again.Â
âWeâre almost done. Just a few last tweaks and youâll be out of here.â
Dean stood across the room from you, his hands in his pockets.
You frowned in concern. âHey. You okay?â
He nodded. âYeah, Iâm alright. But, uh, thereâs been a change in plans.â
Your eyebrows furrowed in confusion. âOh?â
Dean offered you a small smile. âWeâre actually going to be staying here a little longer than we thought.â
You could feel your heart speed up in your chest, but tried to squash down your expectations. âReally?â
He nodded. âI still need to give you that ride, donât I?â
You laughed in relief, allowing the flood of feelings that youâd been pushing back to move forward, front and center. âYeah, you do. What made you change your mind?â
At that, Dean walked forward until he was standing beside you. âI think you know.â
You smiled. âMaybe. But Iâd still like to know.â
Dean grinned and gently patted his Impala. âWell, Baby, of course. I need to be nearby in case youâre not as good as you say you are, so that I can make you pay for damages.â
You laughed. âFair enough. You want to finish her up with me?â
âObviously.â
You hummed. âWeâre almost done, though. Where are you going to take me?â
Dean shook his head. âItâs a surprise.â
âNot always a great idea to keep a first date destination a surprise,â you said, surprised with your own boldness.
Dean chuckled. âFirst date, huh?â
You took a step closer to him. âMaybe. Is it?â
Dean lowered his head towards yours. âAbsolutely.â
You could feel warmth radiating off of him in waves, allowing yourself to be comforted by his presence as you tilted your head up towards him.Â
Before you could even register what was going on, your boss burst into the room. âHey, I have a guy out here asking for help, are you-â
You buried your face in your hands in embarrassment as Dean stepped back, looking up at the ceiling to hide his flushed cheeks.
Your boss slowly backed away, pulling the door closed behind her. âSorry about that. Carry on.â
You peered out from behind your hands and looked up at Dean. âMaybe we should save that for our date. You know, just in case my boss decides to walk in again.â
Dean smiled, the warmth in his chest stronger than ever before. âDonât worry about it.Â
We have time.â
Human remains as props â the Billy Boils of old horror movies
In this week's Halloween themed 9-1-1 episode, Buck rented a mummy replica from a Hollywood prop shop which turned out to be a real human body. This set off a series of misfortunate events for the firefighter, that might or might not be the result of a curse. Once again, the writers have surpassed themselves in terms of over-the-top silliness that has become the trademark of our beloved weewoo show. There's no way someone can accidentally get their hands on a real corpse... right?
Oh, you'll be surprised. You too may have seen a real cadaver or two on the silver screen.
The Economics of prop dead bodies
Using real human remains as movie props was such a common practice back in the days that prop masters working on the 1979 Vietnam war epic Apocalypse Now were totally unfazed when body broker (later revealed to be a grave robber) brought several dead bodies to the set. The plan to use those bodies as props for maximum authenticity was only scrapped after a producer ruled against it.
Source: The Independent
Interestingly, films that ended up actually featuring real bodies were the low-budget, fake looking ones. In the age before 3D printing, creating a set of realistic human skeleton was a very labor intensive process. That combining with the cost of the material used, the price of a plastic replica was in fact more expensive than a real skeleton.
A special effect make-up artist who worked on the 1982 Spielberg classic Poltergeist explained the film's decision to use actual human remains on a podcast:
Source: Snopes
Eerily, two young actresses who worked on the Poltergeist trilogy passed away unexpectedly shortly afterwards, leading to the urban legend of a curse on set.
The story of Elmer J. McCurdy
In late 1976, the production crew of the TV show The Six Million Dollar Man was filming scenes at the Pike, a then amusement zone in Long Beach, California. While shooting a scene at a thrill ride, a member of the prop department spotted a wax mannequin covered in fluorescent paint dangling from a noose. Worrying it would get in the way of the camera, they gave the dummy's arm a tug in an attempt to remove it, but instead of the whole thing coming off, only the arm broke off, exposing a human bone and muscle tissues.
A penny from 1924 and ticket stubs to the "Museum of Crime" were found in the body's mouth. Investigators contacted the museum owner's son, who identified the body as Elmer McCurdy, an outlaw killed in 1911 in the middle of a shootout with police following a botched train robbery in Oklahoma.
Unlike the fictional McCurdy in 8x05, the real McCurdy was a simple petty criminal looking for some extra cash to support his alcohol habit. Utilizing the skills he learned from the army, his robbery method of choice was explosives, but he was very terrible at it.
Source: KCRW
His body was subsequently taken to a funeral home, where he laid unclaimed for the rest of his stay. The undertaker embalmed the body, shaved his face, dressed him in a suit, but refused bury him until someone come forward to claim it and pay for the service. As time went by, the owner of the funeral home decided to dress the body as a gunslinging cowboy and allow visitors to see "the Bandit Who Wouldn't Give Up" for the price of a nickel, in order to fund his burial.
5 years later, two men claiming to be McCurdy's long lost brothers came forward to take custody of the body for a proper burial. End of the story, right? Well, of course they were travelling carnival owners lying to acquire the body for their shows. In 1922, the body was sold to yet another travelling exhibit called "Museum of Crime", which featured wax figures of other famous outlaws in history.
For the next 3 decades, McCurdy's body travelled all around the country as an attraction. He even had a brief film career. He was once used to promote the 1933 film Narcotic!, then he had a small cameo in the 1967 B-movie She Freak. In 1968, the Museum of Crime owner's son decided to sell his father's exhibits to the Hollywood Wax Museum. There, McCurdy's body started getting mixed up with other wax figure, and his origin story long forgotten.
Following over half a century of voyage, McCurdy eventually became fully mummified. The wax museum believed that the body was too gruesome and unlifelike to be showcased anymore, so he was finally sold to The Pike, an amusement zone in Long Beach, where he began his new life as a thrill ride decoration dummy.
After the shocking revelation by TV crew in 1976, McCurdy was transported back to Oklahoma, where he took his last breath 66 years ago, and finally laid to rest after a graveside service attended by 300 people. (Under 2 feet of concrete, to prevent grave robbing)
Submission for day 2 of @outsidersweek!! heres the masterpost for this fic
January, 1967
Trip
Growing up with the two most controlling parents in the world meant that Trip was always trying to find ways to break the rules without them knowing. It was like a game: how far could he go before his parents started finding out and punishing him? That game is what led him to sneak out, get drunk with his friends, and then get into a fight with some random guy at this party theyâd crashed. As he stumbled down the residential street towards his house, his face bruised and busted, he caught sight of a street sign, realizing through his drunken state that he was awfully close to Marciaâs house.
If he went home to his parents there was too high a chance theyâd find him and freak out. If he went to Marcia, maybe she could even patch him up! Thatâs what Bev always did when Brill needed it. These foggy thoughts led him though the streets and all the way up to Marciaâs window. Her curtains were drawn, but he could see light poking through. He knocked once to no answer, he knocked again, and still nothing. He was starting to get worried, but when he knocked a third time, he finally saw a hand draw back the curtain.Â
Marcia
Marcia drew back the curtain to find her boyfriend outside her window. She stood there for a moment, confusion written all over her face, before pulling up her window and letting him climb through into her room. He immediately went to put his arms around her waist, and she let him until she saw his face in the light, and she shoved him off.
âTrip, have you been in a fight?!â she exclaimed, looking at his black eye and bloody lip. She went closer to him again to examine the damage, but stopped when she smelled his breath. âHave you been drinking?â she accused quietly, feeling herself withdraw from him.
âJust a little bitâŠâ he admitted, moving towards her again. âDo you have anything to patch me up? My parents would flip out if they saw me like thisâŠâ
âAre you serious?â Marcia said, shocked.
âBaby?â
âYou sneak into my room! Your face is all busted, youâre drunk as all hell, and you expect me to just patch you up like nothing happened??â
âOh shut up Mar! Just help me, like any good girlfriend would.â
âDon't tell me to shut up!!â
âWhat the fuck is wrong with you??â
Marcia stared at Trip in shock. âWhat's wrong with me? Am I the one with a black eye?? No, Iâm not. Who were you even fighting??â
âJust some guy at this party⊠I don't know.â
âYou donât even know who you were fighting!?â Marcia turned away from him for a moment, contemplating what to do. âGet out of my room.â she finally said.
âBaby I donât understandâŠâ
âMaybe youâll have a better grasp on it once you're sober. Until then, I don't want to see you.â Marcia walked to her door and held it open for him. Trip stared at her dumbfounded for a moment, before furiously stumbling out of her room, and leaving her house with a slam of the door.
The next morning Trip showed up at her door with flowers, telling her how sorry he was, and promising her it wouldnât happen again. Marcia threw her arms around the boy, telling him that she forgave him. Things were normal for a while, but promises like that were made to be broken.Â
