I want to state I don't hate Kristoph or anything, I think I just get irritated sometimes at the attention the male characters in ace attorney get. I love Kristoph as a character and I've drawn and written about him a lot because he's cool! I just wish more people could give the leniency to female characters that they gave male ones. and Dahlia n Kristoph are good examples of similar characters for me.
why people should try to give Dahlia Hawthorne a chance (imagine this has been presented like a PowerPoint)
- she's so fucking funny first of all. fail girl of all time.
- literally got roasted so hard she went to hell
- so so much potential in her character
- Capcom mishandled her because they hate women but we don't have to hate women as well
- she killed a pedo, and someone who likes Britain (girl win!)
- she technically stopped Godot from his coffee addiction with an.. intervention. and it worked for a few years. to be polite.
- a woman
- a lesbian
- transgender
- her backstory is actually there even if it's a mess. unlike other poison loving gay ass characters.. (THIS IS A JOKE PEOPLE PLS DONT HATE ME I'M BEING SILLY N JESTFUL!)
- since her backstory and character is a mess you can just interpret her however u want and ur right!
- Capcom genuinely wrote her character while hating her and forgot that she was a child when Terry Fawkes "dated her" and that she was even YOUNGER when she apparently manipulated her father into dropping off Iris and abandoning her at a temple?? like you were so right for pointing this one out.
- It really feels like the narrative hates her more than it likes being a good story and smooth ride. It just wants to demonise her over and over again than write an impactful journey of a character becoming filled with hatred and jealousy.
- my femcel queen
- objectively the funniest character and also the most tragic (to me so actually not at all objective but but but)
- really good showing of how even though she was so distant from the Fey family and her bio mother, she still suffered due to their family's generational trauma and baggage.
- cool design!!!!!!!!!!
- incredibly underrated for the final villain of the ace attorney trilogy. Like other villains in ace attorney are cool and all but pls pls pls I know she's not a twink in a homoerotic relationship but she's so cool..
I think Dahlia Hawthorne could be really interesting if people gave her a chance and I really wish they would because as a person or someone who is seen as a girl a lot and demonised a bit due to my uh.. issues.. I find myself relating to parts of her character. Also evil women go fucking crazy, love em. This also kind of goes for Iris as well, she doesn't... really ever get talked about outside of her relationship with Phoenix n that's in part fault of the fandom AND Capcom (my sworn enemies.)
Anyway thanks for listening - or well reading! :3
anon while we have vastly different interpretations of her character you are so incredibly correct in the general message of it all. like..you are correct with every part of this obviously it's just the matter of me having a different approach, but people seeing her as someone only tied to phoenix is so real and true. what capcom did was make dahlia a manic pixie nightmare girl (a female character created solely for the development of the male lead but in an evil way this time) and tbh we need to reject those behaviors and come up with cool shit for her
actually that manic pixie nightmare girl thing was so smart of me to say. i love myself i'm the smartest girlboy alive. you are also a genius anon honestly go off with this?? if i were you i would already be creating art and unhinged essay posts about this whole thing

Oh god, thank you so much for your time to reply my ask about Leon and Chris settling down. I have to admit, i wouldn't hold any hope for Capcom to do it, especially with the way things are headed with remakes.
I used to love Ada and Leon and i still do in a way but seeing as how they took a completely different route on their "romance" or lack there of, it saddens me that Ada just doesn't look like this person that would ever wanna plant here roots somewhere and actually be happy. And i think for as much as Leon cares about her and ends up trusting her, he does deserve better. I think she knows this too.
So all in all, with the power of fanfic writing and creativity, i'm gonna be a bit corny here probably and i'm sorry for that but i just love giving Leon stability, if that makes sense? I want him to just be happy with someone who will always have his back and be there for him. I want him to grow old and before all that, i'd love for him to become a dad. I think he'd be a good one, and i think it would give him alot of piece of mind and hope. I also wanted Luis to live so badly, i loved his chemistry with Leon. But again, like you said, it's just not what Capcom envisions for their main protags i suppose. Ah well. We don't need a green light from them to explore these characters in numerous ways we'd like, right?
Thank you so much for your time, you're such a lovely and warm person here on tumblr that it's just a delight to see your opinions on this franchise. 🥰
Aw hey thanks anon! It was such a surprise to me to even get your ask, cause I kinda keep to myself and don't really participate in the fandom, but I'm more than happy to talk resi on here :)
As for Leon and Ada - there's a lot of potential there, to me. I love Ada in the 4 remake specifically. They took her in a really cool direction: she's mysterious and sexy, but there's an authentic emotional core to her, where you can feel how fond she is of Leon (and, eventually, Luis) and how conflicted she is about her work. The voice acting and the fantastic subtle facial animations in the cutscenes really sold me on her. I think if they remake 6 with the same sensitivity with which they remade 4 there could be a future for Ada and Leon, because there were some touching moments between them in 6 that started to feel reconciliatory to me, like they're growing to understand and care for each other on a new level. I think if the two of them had a chance, if they felt like they had a choice, they might choose each other, eventually, and I'd be really curious to see what that would look like.
Re: wanting to give Leon stability, that's not corny at all! He deserves peace and quiet and love, however he gets there and whatever it looks like for him. I've read so much fic and have seen so much art where he gets to grow old and content in so many different ways, and it's all very cathartic for me... I guess Capcom could surprise me and come up with a darker ending for him that still feels right to me, I'm not discounting that outright, but for now I'm having a nice time with softer scenarios for him, whether that's with Ada or Luis or Chris or whoever else!
Thanks again for your asks :) There's so much I adore about these games and characters, and that's what I like posting about here. Glad it resonates with you!

"SOMEBODY ALWAYS NEEDS TO GO FIRST. I KNOW THIS. I GO FIRST." - A STUDY ABOUT FEAR.
( no i promise i'm not jason and this is actually going somewhere lmao )
there's something ironic in how claire is perceived as a civilian ( albeit with good skills ) yet at the same time whenever we see her in a situation where an outbreak is happening, she is always in the front: in raccoon city she fought all the way to keep sherry safe, same in harvardville with rani ( and the other survivors to an extent ) and then again at sejm island trying to keep moira safe because she's family and if something happened to her, claire would never forgive herself, and then again sonido de tortuga with the tv show crew.
she stays calm, goes first, kills the zombies, and everybody almost always makes it back home - at least those close to her ( but that's not her fault, rather capcom adding random people in the story just to kill them off ) so we can say safely that she's been through it all, and up until sejm island she had seen enough for the T-Phobos to not kick in while most of the team turned, with the exception of those who managed their fears. i wouldn't say claire was unfazed about the events unfolding on the island, but in the end if you think about it, everything was really just another thursday for her.
is claire redfield fearless? no, but she might as well, because her tolerance has become so high chances were she realistically would have been the sole survivor of those experiments. but what does this mean for her life and her future? well, to put it simply, claire is obviously scared in these situations but there's always the awareness that she can go through it, because she can do anything - her confidence in her skills saves her more times than she'd like to admit. so... is she not a good host for T-Phobos? yes and no, because claire might be scared but you'll always catch her do the craziest shit even if it saves one person, she's selfless like that.
T-Phobos activates based on the levels of adrenalin and norepinephrine, so an intense fear or panic should be enough to start a mutation. to avoid this issue, claire wears an upgraded version of a wristband retrieved from their second trip to the island to rescue moira. for those who are not familiar, the wristband shows the results based on the colours green, orange and red: green means stress hormone readings are normal; orange is for significant but acceptable hormone production. a blinking red light means the subject is actively producing large quantities of the hormones, and finally a fixed red light means the subject is determined to mutate.
what could possibly spike claire's panic to a point her health might be in danger? well, infinite darkness trailer ironically gives us an answer about it when we see leon run to her and jason's voice tells us that the root of terror starts with fear. let's go over that for a second, yes? sure, claire has a noble heart and cares for everybody... but at this point a lot of people died around her - some were good, some were bad; you take that in and eventually move on.
but her family ( blood or choice doesn't matter ) is not like the others. the main cast of this franchise is pretty much the only people who actively get the job done, and so far they all always made it out alive. if that were to change ( i hope capcom would never tho ) then that would be enough for claire to give up and the dormant virus to kick in - because all it takes is a second, no take backs.
so yeah, claire has been wearing the wristband since 2011, never takes it off and it's literally her life saver. sometimes it goes up to orange but she's learned how to control her breathing and has started meditating and all that helpful stuff to clear her mind when life is too much.
#ɢᴇɴᴇʀᴀʟ meta.#this is actually important bc it ties to ID and DI since capcom just forgot about it#claire never goes first when her family is around so i'm appropriating this coincidence in my changes lol

Not quite right
Some Miranda angst (and Eva fluff???) for the soul that I thought about while walking my dog and proceeded to write out like a madwoman for the next two hours. If Capcom won't give it to me I'll just have to do it myself. In the form of a little drabble I'm not that committed.
(Just for context, in my hc/au Eva is adopted by Miranda as a child and raises her at the monastery for some years before she dies)
----
Mama!"
A small laugh escaped Miranda's lips when the little raven-haired girl ran her way and all but crashed into her legs, excitedly showing off the tome that she had found. It was old and looked far too heavy in the thin arms of a child, but she was nothing if not determined when she held it up in the air as if Miranda wasn't more than capable of reading the title.
"Mhm, what do you have there?" Her voice came a little strained to her own ears, but that didn't make the grin fade from Eva's young face.
"The book you were looking for," her daughter replied, pushing the heavy object into her arms, no doubt feeling her arms getting a little tired. "Now you can teach me about worms."
Miranda smiled fondly at the little girl, deciding that it would do her no favors knowing that all she needed to teach her was the information stored in her own mind. After all, there was something inherently heartwarming to her about sitting down together and reading old passages from tomes taken from a less judgmental merchant or never returned books from a library a couple cities away, whenever the monastery had them traveling for whatever reason. She never quite paid mind to her duties to God, far more preoccupied with slipping away any chance she got, which gained her a number of the books and tools that she had earned for since childhood.
Good thing Eva didn't have to wish for such things, happily provided by Miranda. If the other nuns decided to place the little girl in her care then they should not start complaining when she runs around the yard to pick up bugs and feathers and whatever else she could find and study them, really.
"Very well," her voice took on a warmer tone, so unfamiliar to her for what felt like entirely too long.
Eva was, as Miranda would always put it, wise beyond her years. There was no other ten year old she had seen that was capable of such focus, especially on subjects that most other children found gross or far too complex for their still developing minds. Yet Miranda could go on and talk about the inner machinations of the human heart or nerves or even the yet to be understood brain, and Eva would simply sit and listen to her, not once scrunching up her little nose in disgust and only interrupting for clarifications or the occasional joke. She truly was a special child, not that Miranda would have taken such a liking to her if that weren't the case.
And this time was no different. Eva made herself comfortable on Miranda's -frankly uncomfortable- bed and waited patiently for her mother, because by now they both accepted that that was the most appropriate title, to pick a good starting point. Roundworms felt like a good introduction, since Eva seemed to have taken a liking to picking up the worms that came out from their burrows during heavy rains and putting them in a bucket to be fed to the monastery's fowl, after a close inspection evidently. Thus, Miranda thought, the girl was familiar enough with the critters already.
Her voice was as calculating as ever, hardened by a century of barked orders and cold words, but there was not an ounce of malice or the anger so often present in her tone now. The explanation was delivered on soft words, even feeling particularly generous and going for laymen terms at a handful of points she thought the girl would have a harder time understanding. How she loved this, seeing Eva's stark blue eyes wide and full of excitement whenever she would repeat the words back at her, happy to have memorised the information given. Blue, steely eyes, so similar to Miranda's that nobody who didn't know them would ever question their titles of mother and daughter. As if putting that into question was ever acceptable anyway, the other nuns already at peace with the idea, unbothered by the bond between the two black sheep, while anyone else would have to face Miranda's wrath and short temper.
"I think that's enough for today," she announced before shutting the tome and standing up. She smiled warmly at how Eva's rosy cheeks puffed up in indignation.
"But I wanted to learn about bugs too," she protested, trying to retrieve the book, but failing as Miranda swiftly raised it up beyond her reach.
"Insects, love."
"Insects," Eva corrected herself, but still pouted when her precious newly found book was placed on a shelf far too high for her.
"Come on, it's bedtime soon," Miranda cooed at the still huffy child, so similar to herself at that age.
The dreadful bedtime, Eva realized. What would be more horrendous for a child, especially one as overly active as her. She hopped off the bed and grabbed Miranda's hand, in a last ditch effort to prolong the inevitable.
"Can we go horse riding for a bit first? Please?"
The words made an unneeded breath catch in Miranda's throat, neither wanting to escape nor fully make its way into useless lungs. Her smile faltered into a neutral line, the ice slowly making its way back into her steel gaze.
She kneeled in front of her daughter, swallowing what felt like coiled up thorns in her throat before slowly pulling her in for a tight hug. She held Eva in her arms, chin resting on her small shoulders and taking a deep breath only to feel nothing. Not the smell of their old dusty room, not the smell of the soap bars made by the nuns that they all used to clean their hair and not the smell of rain and mud and nature that so often clung to her daughter's clothes.
"How I miss you," she whispered, not trusting her voice with a louder tone. Not now when she had to clench her jaw shut to keep a deep inhale from faltering.
"What do you mean?" Her daughter's tone matched her own, despite not remembering a single time that the little girl had been soft spoken.
"You're afraid of horses," Miranda said, her voice finally finding some more strength as she rose to her feet. "You can stop now."
For a few long seconds, all she could see was Eva's blue eyes looking up at her confused, head even slightly cocked to the side as she so often did when not fully understanding something and it made Miranda want to scream in frustration. But then the old bricks and dusty shelves started to crumble to dust and fog around her until Eva too was nothing but a blue glaze fading from memory.
And then she was back in the barren living room of her house, placed in the woods off the beaten path that led to the Village. Her Village. And Donna was standing not far behind her, veil discarded at the very beginning of their meeting and Angie -for once- standing quietly by her legs. To describe the scene as awkward would be the understatement of the year, with Donna's one good eye refusing to meet hers and lips pulled into a thin line.
Maybe this wasn't such a great idea.
Fine, maybe this was a terrible fucking idea.
But it couldn't have been worse than the latest species of nematode that she decided to use for her Cadou experiments, which resulted in a batch of disastrous failures. The lycans could've been called Nobel prize-worthy successes in comparison to her latest results. Utterly mindless and barely human, limbs growing disproportionate and the rest of the body producing enlarged cells that only put pressure on vital organs which resulted in death within weeks. At best.
"I'm sorry-"
"Leave me," Miranda's words cut through the slowly spoken, and arguably insincere, apology from the dollmaker, who wasted no time before giving her goddess a curt nod and exiting the house, Angie in her arms and holding her veil.
Once left alone, Miranda took a deep breath, or six, filling her lungs with unnecessary oxygen before emptying them, each exhale more shuddering than the previous one. Wings were put away and all the divine robes and accessories discarded to the floor, remaining only in the pants and shirt she wore underneath. She didn't even feel tears slowly trailing down her cheeks until she passed a shaky hand over her face only to be left with black mouldy stains on her skin, courtesy of her mutation occasionally working against her as opposed to with her. With a frustrated growl, that she choked on halfway through due to the ache at the back of her throat that felt like hands trying to strangle her from the inside out, she unceremoniously laid on the nearby couch. Her face found shelter in one of the cushions, later on to be discarded due to the unsalvageable black tear stains, while her talons tugged at her hair, matching the anger and frustration of the sobs that she so stubbornly refused to let out.
She would have Eva back, undoubtedly, but the road to there was littered with so many failures and Miranda was getting so so exhausted.

I'm not the original anonymous but I would extremely want to see that essay about Apollo's trust issues.
Also since I just finished Spirit of Justice, do you think Lamiroir ever told Trucy/Apollo about her and if so what would be their reactions?
Let’s see if I can write this up without crying again like I did on twitter.
So a while ago a friend of mine asked me why I liked Apollo, and I really couldn’t put my finger on it. I knew he was my favorite, but unlike Simon Blackquill, I hadn’t done that deep dive into figuring out why. I’d always just sort of loved him, and was never able to pinpoint the part that made me care about him so much. It drove me crazy, too, I love rambling about characters that I love, and I love writing from Apollo’s perspective more than anything. So why did I love him? Why did I care about him?
Well. I figured it out. I figured out my answer.
I think there are two things that characterize Apollo more than anything. One: He has trust issues. He genuinely believes that the people around him don’t give a shit about him. Especially after being betrayed multiple times in that first trial, he truly and deeply believes that the people around him are only trying to hurt him and is too scared to really believe that they care about him.
And two: He cares so much about the people around him that he constantly helps them anyway.
So like. And I won’t tag her because I don’t think she’d appreciate it, but I was watching the laquilasse AA4 stream last night, and the entire opening of Turnabout Corner is so striking to me, especially right after the end of Turnabout Trump. At the end of Turnabout Trump, Apollo’s trust and belief in Phoenix is finally and thoroughly shattered, and Apollo lashes out, punching Phoenix in the face. And for good reason! That was a huge breach of trust! Apollo literally did the exact thing that got Phoenix disbarred, namely present evidence that wasn’t real. Sure, they never exactly claimed it was the real deal, but Apollo didn’t even know it was faked, he just trusted Phoenix and this new piece of evidence and it almost fucked him over. It did sort of fuck him over, he did lose his job and his Mentor.
And then, Phoenix calls him and says that they’re in trouble, and Apollo doesn’t even question it, of course he shows up to help.
Like. You can feel how much he mistrusts Trucy on their first meeting, in everything he does and says. Especially when Trucy and Phoenix are in the same room, he’s actively thinking about how he doesn’t ‘buy their act’ when Phoenix is calling Trucy daughter-ly nicknames. And then, in a way, he’s kind of right? They guilt him into essentially being their errand boy, and I feel like they’re constantly and loudly using him throughout so much of the game.
And Apollo was there anyway. Apollo doesn’t even trust them and he’s still there the first instant Phoenix says he needs his help.
Like you can loudly do and say whatever you want and crush his dreams and betray his trust, and despite everything, there’s always that part of Apollo that desperately needs to help anyone who asks him. He can’t even bring himself to trust them, and he’s still crawling back the moment someone needs him, ready to let them disappoint him over again.
Like this struck me about Apollo from the moment I played AA4, but he’s so lonely? And desperate for connection? He cares so much about a world that has always and consistently never cared about him, and he just keeps caring and keeps caring even as that starry-eyed naivete is ripped away. And I feel like he just wants someone to care about him back, but never really able to believe that they do, because they never really seem to, because every time he allows himself to trust it’s just thrown back in his face so horribly.
Here’s an interesting thing I noticed: in Turnabout Trump, there’s a really interesting line. Phoenix has accused Kristoph of being the murderer, the extra person in the room. Kristoph takes the stand and claims to have witnessed the moment Phoenix committed the murder. And this exchange happens:
Apollo: There must have been someone else there at the moment of the crime!
Kristoph: Justice... I just said I saw no one. Not a soul.
Apollo: B-But, that goes against what Mr. Wright said!
Kristoph: Ah yes, this mysterious "fourth person"... ...who would conveniently be the "real killer", I suppose.
And this is well past the point where Phoenix has accused Kristoph of being that person. There’s no possibility at this point that they’re both innocent, it’s either one or the other. And Apollo is still so desperately trying to find a way for them both to be innocent, basically saying, “Just give me a fourth person and I’ll believe you.” And then Kristoph turned out to be a monster, and then Phoenix turned out to have betrayed Apollo from the start, and as far as Apollo is ever aware, none of the care from either of these men was ever real. He trusted, and he suffered the consequences.
But again. He’s still there. Someone pointed out a while ago, but Apollo stays. Apollo shows up to the Wright Talent Agency under false pretenses, and he complains and hems and haws, and he still stays. Why?
Phoenix and Trucy loudly manipulate him into working their case. They’re perfectly happy to flaunt that they’re basically tricking him. And he stays. Why?
Because Apollo can’t trust them, but he wants to so fucking bad. He doesn’t even seem to like Phoenix that much, but he wants that connection so fucking bad. He cares about them so much and he doesn’t believe for a second that they extend that feeling back at him, and he’s compelled to stay anyway.
He knows Trucy is practically using him, and he’s a sobbing mess when he thinks she was kidnapped for a few minutes. He’s cynical and mean and it’s all just to cover up the fact that he loves all these people around him with all his heart and they never once pay it back. And he comes back anyway. He’s like a fucking loyal dog that is never given enough affection and so he’s constantly trying harder and harder to earn that love while never believing he’ll ever really get it.
(Shit nope crying again)
It’s just so sad. And this is all without adding anything from the 3D games. The 3D games do build on this theme in one way or another, but from the get go, this is who Apollo is. A caring young man who is constantly punished for caring and yet can’t stop caring anyway.
We see it again in the 3D games. And I think part of why I don’t enjoy DD as much as SoJ is that DD doesn’t capture this mistrust the same way. It’s so surface level, that sense of betrayal and mistrust and anger he gets consumed by in that final case. And the worst part is it doesn’t have to be! There’s already that foundation! Apollo has been hurt already a million times. The only person he’s ever been able to trust, the only lifeline that’s kept him above water since he was a child, was Clay Terran, and now that was taken from him because he DARED to trust someone new. That’s so fucking compelling! But we never get that! We never get to see how Apollo is feeling. We get that he’s convinced Athena did the murder, but never really get into the Why, into the What This Means for Apollo.
It’s a bit better in SoJ. We see how far he’s come in terms of trusting people when he trusts in Trucy wholly and immediately in case two. And then, conversely, we see his mistrust and hurt when they introduce Dhurke into the mix. Apollo refuses point blank to believe that Dhurke had come to visit him, that Dhurke cared about him. Apollo demands to know why Dhurke was there, what Dhurke wanted, how Dhurke was going to use him. He’s been able to slowly start building that trust with people like Trucy, but he still cannot let himself trust again when Dhurke had already betrayed that trust.
I said it before, but as much as I hate the slapdash ways in which Capcom keeps throwing backstory at this boy, I love what the backstories are, because they build on this angry, cynical, lonely young man I care about so much. He’s been hurt and abandoned and used and betrayed since he was young, and being good never truly paid off for so long, but he kept doing it, he kept being good, he kept caring about people because he couldn’t help it, and kept hoping that maybe they could care back. And eventually I think it does start paying off for him. People do start caring about him. And I feel like it takes until around SoJ for him to start really believing that the people around him might care about him too.
Also congrats on finishing SoJ! Since there’s a very good chance that they might be announcing AA7 soon, I...hope? fear? expect? that they’ll touch on this then. However, I also worry that they’re going to botch it up so hard.
I know what I want to happen. I want Trucy to be angry. I want her to be angry at Lamiroir and Phoenix. She is constantly putting on a mask to try to make the people she loves happy, and I feel like this is a reasonable breaking point. After all, this is kind of the one thing that Phoenix hasn’t been honest with her about. She had a brother right there, and knew the whole time?! She had a mother there the whole time?! And no one bothered to tell her?! I think she’d be heartbroken, and I think she deserves to be angry. She’s been through so much, and they never give her time to really grieve or be upset.
I think Apollo would be ecstatic and angry at the same time. All he’s ever wanted was family, and now he does! He already loved Trucy, and thought Lamiroir was amazing, so I think he would be so happy to have that family back in his life. On the flip side, I do think he’d be angry at Phoenix, particularly for keeping it to himself before Lamiroir came into the picture, but I think if they talked it out, Apollo would come around to it and be able to forgive Phoenix.

I think that Mia gets too bad of a rap from a lot of people.
Like yes, was she an agent of a super shady organization responsible for making a bio weapon that destroyed a great deal of lives? Yes. However we don’t know her motivation for joining them yet.
They could have lied honestly. Like The Connections could have advertised themselves to be a great, loving work environment and maybe Mia was young and naive and joined them. Or maybe she was desperate for money, and it was the only job that would hire her. Or hell, maybe she fully knew what they were and joined anyway, either on account of her morals being twisted back then or thinking that even though the company was evil maybe she could do good. Who knows, honestly.
Either way, with The Connections being a shady organization there’s like a very high chance that you don’t get to walk away from them alive. I’m sure if you quit they’d see you as a liability and take you out with no mercy. And that’s why I think Mia didn’t leave, because she knew she would be killed if she did, and maybe that’s why she took the job with Eveline, because it was more of a “you will do this or else” than an option for her (whether it was implied by her boss or if they were upfront about what bad things would happen if she didn’t take the job).
And maybe if her morals were twisted before I fully think meeting and falling in love with Ethan changed her if that was the case, because the Mia we see in RE7 and RE8 is a good person. We see that in how when the Baker’s rescue her she thanks them but tries to leave immediately and tries to warn them about staying away from Eveline (as shown in the note she left in the dlc “Daughters”). She could have tried to get them to call the hospital or her company but she didn’t, because she knew that she was under Eveline’s control and the longer she stayed there the more danger the family was. If she was a shitty person she wouldn’t have done this, she would have done everything she could to save herself.
We also see that in how she leaves a final video note for Ethan, telling him to stay away no matter what, because she didn’t want him to get dragged down in her mess. She knows how much Ethan loves her and I’m sure she knows if she sent a video saying “Ethan pls help” he’d come running for her, but she didn’t because she loves him and wants him to live even if she can’t be there with him. We see it AGAIN when she saves Ethan from Eveline’s grasp, when she tears him from the mold thing he was in and pushes him out so Eveline couldn’t hurt him. Fully knowing she’d have to face Eveline’s wrath.
And for everyone saying “why didn’t she just tell him then” I mean think about it. I think if this super shady organization found out someone they didn’t hire knew what was going on they’d kill them because again they’d be a liability and a threat. And that’s why she doesn’t tell Ethan because she doesn’t want him to be targeted and killed by them. I think if she had the opportunity she would have left The Connections but knows that it would result in her death anyway, and telling Ethan the truth would just end in his death if they found out and it was too risky in her mind.
And I think it’s this same form of protection that prevents her from telling Ethan he’s infected. She says (or at least we can assume that this was her) in Donna’s section that she didn’t tell him because she was afraid she’d lose him. I don’t think he’d divorce her if he found out he was molded (that doesn’t really make sense for his character), I think she was genuinely afraid he’d die (again) or worse begin to transform into a monster the way the rest of the infected did. And that’s why she keeps it hidden because she was scared to death he’d die or suffer a worse fate. Am I saying she was right in hiding it? No, but I think that everyone saying she’s manipulative and gaslighting are wrong because she truly loves Ethan and Rose, and I know she’d give her life gladly if it meant they could live.
I saw other people get mad because Rose is essentially being used as a bio weapon and how could Mia let this happen and I’m like?? She probably doesn’t have a say?? I mean yes Blue Umbrella is supposed to be “the good guys” now but like they’re still a huge organization, I’m sure Mia did her best to prevent this from happening and keep Rose safe but like at the end of the day what can she really do against a huge company?? If anything get mad at Chris because I’m sure he’s got some clout or something in that company that could have allowed Rose to live a normal life without Umbrella or maybe not being used as a weapon but idk 🤷🏻♀️ a lot of people were like “Mia’s sO annoying at the beginning of the game” but fam that wasn’t even her?? That’s Miranda?? Besides even if it was Mia that blew up on Ethan in the hospital (as per Ethan’s diary) 1.) people deal with trauma differently, and I’m not saying it’s healthy but she’s scarred and doing her best and 2.) probably was afraid if they talked too much about Louisiana Ethan would realize he was infected and then BAM he’s either dead or a mutated monster. And in the cutscene of Mia saying “you matter!” Can you imagine the stress of knowing your husband is Mr Mold Man and not being able to do anything about it, out of fear of what could happen to him? Like of course she’s upset and going to blow when provoked (not that Ethan was aggressive or anything just that he was prying into a very high pressure soda that is Mia’s emotions lol) because she’s been bottling this up and has no one to talk to, and after a while anyone would explode. I think she would have told him if he hadn’t answered that call. Also marriage is not rainbows and butterflies, sometimes you get into messy fights with your partner and sometimes you or the other person say things you don’t mean but at the end of the day you love each other and try to be better. If anything Capcom was depicting a normal marriage tbh.
At the end of the day Mia is not the bad guy. She is only human who tried her best to keep her family safe against all the odds and idc what anyone says, Ethan and Mia love each other and have a healthy relationship and that’s that.
I hope I do this ask justice cause this is the kinda ask I’ve been like hoping for cause you are absolutely gosh damn right.
I’m a chill person & I’m never gonna probably get up into someone’s face about anything cause it’s fandom. I’m not here to cater your experience. That being said, when I see some of these frankly bad takes on Mia I’m like
We know Jack shit about why Mia joined the Connections. Literally nothing so people who have a whole solidified nasty opinion of Mia should probably just sit down. You don’t have to like her. But you also could like, idk, be absolutely dead wrong cause lol Capcom went, yeah we’re not gonna explain any of that.
I got the impression that in between re7 and re8 that they are hiding from the connections too but I may have misunderstood that In re8. I think it makes sense it’s the type of organization you do not leave. No matter how badly you want to and once Ethan came along, do people really think she’d risk him? Spoiler alert: no, no she wouldn’t.
Also, re7 started w Alan. He’s the one that let eveline get out of control so...I feel like people forget that.
I’ve been talking to a friend about people using the Miranda Mia against the real Mia and I don’t know how to kindly tell people that the game kinda absolutely explained that’s not Mia? I do think Mias got a temper which makes sense because Ethan is so even tempered that he can balance her out better. But Miranda Mia was a fuckin bitch. She was needling Ethan’s pain and mocking him. Do people think Ethan sat around for three years taking that? Ethan’s a big boy. He can take care of himself. He was even fighting back w Miranda Mia so manipulative and abusive takes belong in the toilet w the rest of the shit.
Mia blowing up at Ethan means nothing. My parents have proven to me marriage is not easy. You will lose it on people when emotions run high. It happens. There’s a world of difference between a moment of anger versus abuse. But you still love and forgive people for moments of anger because we all have them. And I’m sure Ethan can be just as much as a pain in the ass. I love him more than most and I’d be the first person to admit I’m sure he didn’t make it easy all the time either.
Mia held the truth from Ethan because she was scared not just for her but for him too. It’s a selfless kind of lie. We all do them so I don’t know why Mia is getting burned at the stake for it. I’m just not movable on this. That was a heavy thing to carry and she was doing her best.
As for Rose, I don’t even know what Capcom is doing. How can anyone else know? She’s special and powerful. Maybe she wanted that life? I think we can reserve judgement until re9.
Like I said above, no one has to like Mia. Maybe you don’t vibe w her or maybe you still just don’t care for her. That’s cool. But my gosh don’t lie about the kind of person she is. If you can’t acknowledge her world and heart belongs to Ethan and Rose, I’m just not sure what to tell you.
Sorry for ranting on your ask nonnie 😆 I really appreciate that you sent this in! It needed said imo

Cut the Ties #3
Another Chapter in the bag! Muriel belongs to @professionallydeadinside - all hail this amazing bean! and I suppose Capcom owns the rest... but we adopted it... so is ours now =3
ENJOY!
Chapter Three
Muriel managed to keep her distance.
Alcina was none the wiser when she entered her home, Castle Dimitrecu.
A grand gothic structure that was a spectacle to look at. A medieval marvel and such eye candy to any tourist – if they were allowed.
As Alcina made it through the grand doors, Muriel crept in through the crack of an open window. She just about managed to slot her body inside.
'Cassandra.' Alcina called out. Her voice echoed and bounced off the walls.
A swarm of flies invaded the hall then manifested into a woman. 'Yes Mother?'
Muriel hid herself on the second floor near the balcony, peering from one of Alcina's many vases, she watched on as the two women spoke.
'The dagger, I need it prepared for travel.'
The woman, Cassandra, blinked. The thought of the dagger, that poisoned blade terrified her, she almost lost her mother because of it. 'Why mother? If you are under threat we will protect you.'
Alcina smiled warmly stroked her daughter's cheek. 'That I am aware of but it is not for my sake, but for Muriel's.'
'Is she in trouble?' Cassandra worried.
'There's a high possibility but I'd rather douse that flame before it spreads. Now, quickly. I must make preparations.'
'Yes, Mother.' Cassandra bowed and burst into flies. They all flew off and down the hall with a faint buzz.
As her daughter left, so did Alcina. She clicked her heels out of the hall and up the stairs, Muriel crammed herself tight behind the vase so the tall lady did not spot the little girl.
Alcina opened her bedroom door and ducked into it, Muriel saw her chance and quickly scuttled into the room before the door closed and hid under the lady's large bed. She poked her head out.
Alcina was sat down by her dresser, she picked up the phone and twirled the number dial then waited for an answer.
'Hello, it's Lady Dimitrescu. I have a job for you.' She said. 'Oh yes, you will receive coin, plenty of it. I have a rather... cursed item of which I need you to hide. I'd like you to bury it at Life's Edge.'
Muriel tilted her head, she never heard of that place before.
'It'll be ready for you in the morning.' Alcina then put the phone down.
The woman then removed her large hat, then propped her elbow up on the table so to rest her head in her open palm. The woman sighed, it was obvious she was upset about something. She looked so glum in the mirror. Her eyes droopy and her lip pouting.
Muriel's pincers clicked a little, feeding off Alcina's emotion, it tasted sour and made Muriel feel bad, what this because of her?
She hated knowing that all she did was make other people feel bad. First with Donna and now Alcina.
As she watched on, Muriel saw another batch of flies enter the room. A redhead this time.
'Mother, I just saw Cassandra fiddling with that hell-dagger.'
'Yes, Daniela. I asked her to pack it up.' Alcina said rather miserably.
'But if someone else has it...'
'I am aware of what could happen, but,' Alcina smiled and lifted up her daughter's chin. 'You would do anything to make sure those you care about are safe, wouldn't you?'
'Of course, Mother. Anything.'
Alcina poked Daniela's nose 'I know you would.'
'Who is it you are protecting, Mother?' She asked.
'Muriel, although she is in Donna's keep, I do look upon her as my own.'
'She is lucky to have you, Mother.'
Alcina hummed a laugh through the nose. 'It is I who is the lucky one, my dear.'
Muriel felt a twinge in her heart that pinched her in the nose. Her eyes began to water, she knew Alcina cared for her but was not aware of the extent. It made it worse due to the fact that Muriel crept in with a motif to steal from her. She sighed heavily yet quietly.
Alcina graciously picked herself up from her chair and with Daniela, walked out of her room, Muriel followed.
Back in the main hall, Cassandra, now with Bela, was waiting. The brunette held in her hands a box with the Dimitrescu crest mounted on top of the fine wood. That has to be where the dagger was.
'Good girl,' Alcina purred. 'Leave it here, someone will be due in the morning to pick it up.'
'Mother, I have my doubts.' Cassandra said.
'As do you all, I am sure. I have faith that this will never bother us again.'
'But-.'
'None of this, do not work yourself up, my Cassandra.'
Cassandra stumbled then gave in. 'Yes, Mother.'
'If it means that much to you, Daughter, then may I suggest you guard it over the course of the evening?' Alcina asked.
'Yes, Mother. I'll do that.'
'Wonderful.'
Muriel kept her distance but her eyes remained on the Mother and Daughters, especially Cassandra. As three of them filtered out, leaving Cassandra alone with the desired box, Muriel knew this was the prefect time to strike.
Cassandra walked over to the box once everyone, everyone that she knew, left the room, her eyes dawdled upon the box. What rested inside was evil, it was used to kill her mother.
She shuddered remembering the day.
That man-thing – Cassandra did not bother to remember his name, managed to corner and chain her mother down, she was helpless and he was ready to puncture her heart.
If it wasn't for Alcina's screams that evening, the daughters would not have known of the predicament of which befell their dear mother.
Cassandra didn't want to look at it, even having it this close cut her deep, the fact that the little dagger was enough to defeat her mother made her sick.
Stupid man-thing indeed.
Cassandra turned her back and sat down beside the fire. Watching it wiggle in the pit was enough to settle the girl's mind. She was too engulfed that she did not see nor hear Muriel make her move.
The little girl tiptoed towards the pedestal with the box dead in her sight. Her focus shifted slightly to Cassandra, she could only see the girl's hood rest against the chair she sat on.
Muriel got close and closer, she reached out her arms, she was almost there...
It wasn't much longer until she found herself touching the both with mouth hands, she smiled as much as her pincers allowed before calmly snatching the box up and under her arm.
She stepped backwards then spun her heel around, only to hear the doors open... she stopped dead.
'Cass, I thought I'd... CASSANDRA!' Bela wailed, having spotted Muriel with the box.
Cassandra spun her head and saw the girl.
Muriel's eyes widened and then... she dashed off..
'Mother! Mother!' The daughters shouted.
Muriel kept running, clutching the box for dear life. She saw the exit, she was so close... but...
The grand doors in front of her rushed open, Alcina hurried into the room and looked down upon the little girl disappointedly.
'What do you think you are doing, Child?' She asked.
Before Muriel could react, she was grabbed by the scruff of her neck and pulled up to face Lady Dimitrescu properly. She then put out her hand.
'Give that to me.'
Muriel twisted so could face away from the lady. 'No.'
'Muriel.'
'I need it, to be better.'
Alcina scoffed. 'I suppose the Duke has informed you of his little fairy tale, hmm? Don't be ridiculous, Child, hand me back the box!'
'No.' Muriel repeated.
Alcina took a deep breath in and out. 'Muriel, I do not want to have to take it from you, you know I will.'
'But, Mother Miranda...' Muriel sniffed.
'You are not to worry about her, she is gone and not coming back, I'll make sure of it.'
Alcina's hand grew closer to the box stuck within Muriel's arms.
'Hand it to me, this is your last chance.'
Muriel twisted back round, Alcina didn't look angry, she was worried. Muriel knew to argue with her was pointless and so, begrudgingly, gave back the box.
Alcina took it careful, handling it as if it was hot as iron, and put it back into the care of Cassandra.
Muriel then found herself held close by Alcina, she was hugged tightly.
'I know you are going through a lot, but this is not the way, child. That dagger is not a toy, you'll get yourself hurt.'
Muriel snuggled against Alcina. 'I want to protect everyone.'
'No, Muriel, let us protect you. No girl should carry such a weight on their shoulders.' Alcina said. 'You will rest here for the night, I'll call Donna, I expect she is worried sick.'

The Great Ace Attorney Playthrough: The Case of the Unbreakable Speckled Band (Part 3b)
Last Time: After being discovered in Miss Pavlova’s cabin, things didn’t go as badly for us as we thought they would. In fact we got to dance around with Herlock Sholmes the Himbo Detective and discovered that Susato (and presumably someone at Capcom) really knows a lot about snakes, Nikolina has a pet kitten called Darka, and Kazuma apparently died by tripping over said kitten in a tragic accident. However, while it would probably be the best explanation for everyone involved, I’m not entirely sure it’s true as it still doesn’t explain the fact the crime scene was clearly tampered with.
Well it seems that, like me, Susato’s not entirely convinced Nikolina’s telling us the truth.
In fact, it looks like she’s sure of it.
You know, I didn’t expect to feel conflicted about finding Kazuma’s killer, but I kind of do...
Like, I came into this fully expecting to feel hatred and anger towards whoever did this. I was expecting to confront some hateful villain on a par with Miss Brett or Manfred Von Karma and to take satisfaction and vengeance in taking them down... but this isn’t that. There’s no conspiracy, no big untouchable threat, there’s just an abused and scared little girl who probably killed Kazuma because she thought he was going to kill her.
I don’t expect to feel good about taking Nikolina down. I think it’ll feel like when we had to go for Adrian Andrews... only this time she’s actually guilty.
I don’t have anything to add to Susato’s speech, other than it feels important to put it up, and it seems like a good show of who Susato is as a person.
You know, I’ve had a little difficulty pinning Susato down until now, but I think I’ve finally got her. Susato Mikotoba is a woman who believes in truth and justice, and will go to great lengths to reveal it... even if it hurts far more than the lie ever did.
Herlock’s been quiet for a while now, and I don’t think he’s still reeling from the snake business. It’s difficult to read his expression with his hat like that, so I can’t tell if he’s running through the crime scene in his mind, or if Susato’s words have struck a cord with him.
Wait WHAT?
Ah, ok. Herlock basically been using this whole thing as a distraction, and was planning to give everything over to Scotland Yard once we arrived home so they could deal with any ‘outstanding issues’.
(Also he’s handcuffed us again)
It hadn’t quite clicked before, but no one’s actually considered what Ryunosuke must be feeling. His best friend has just been murdered, and all almost everyone has done, has been to accuse him of killing him. Even among Hosonaga, and later Susato, Ryunosuke hasn’t got to really talk about his feelings, and I’m not sure if anyone’s actually given him the opportunity to do so.
With the next stop looming ever closer, I know we don’t exactly have the time to talk right now, but I hope Ryunosuke gets the chance once this is all done.
Ok, let’s do this.
Let’s run through what we know doesn’t fit so far:
1) The writing in Russian: not only is it in the wrong language but Kazuma died instantly, meaning that there’s next to no way he wrote this himself, and absolutely no way he did it if he died tripping over a kitten.
2) The ships log has been left blank from after 2am, meaning that who ever was probably in on it.
3) Half of Darka’s bell somehow found it’s way in Nikolina’s bin, meaning someone must have taken it from the crime scene.
4) If someone went into the cabin (which they must have done) they have to have pressed the emergence alarm after they left.
Let’s start with the biggest contradiction shall we? The photographic print.
Oh Nikolina, that’s not the issue here.
Ryunosuke’s got it.
Well done Ryunosuke.
I’m trying to work out what this could be. The bell half perhaps? But that’s something that was taken away surely.
Ok, so just something that proves it wasn’t an accident. Well I’m not too sure if it’s what I’m supposed to be looking for here, but I’ll present the mark on the floor and see what happens.
Oh thank god!
Well, not exactly Hosonaga, while it’s true that the tripped kitten explanation does explain how the bell was broken, it doesn’t explain why half of it made its way out of Kazuma’s room and into Nikolina’s bin.
Exactly Ryunosuke!
So, now that we’ve successfully proved someone was at the crime scene, let’s start working out who could have done it.
(TBH I still think that, while Nikolina killed Kazuma, Stroganoff was the person who tampered with the crime scene. The writing just feels a bit too calculated to be Nikolina, especially if she killed Kazuma out of fear.)
Ah, I was wondering when you’d have enough Stroganoff.
He’s basically saying that we already know I (Ryunosuke) was in the room, and that if what I’m saying is true then it has to be me as the door was bolted from the inside.
However, as I (both Ryunosuke and me) have zero knowledge of Russian, it’s impossible for me to have written the message. What we do have however, is knowledge as to how the door was bolted from the outside, which we must be getting close to revealing.
That’s... a really good question actually. Why didn’t they just take the whole thing?
Ah, I see. I was looking at this from the eyes of someone from the modern era of electric lights, rather than with the eyes of someone who lives with jolly old Victorian lighting. The floor wasn’t visible enough to make out half of a cats bell.
Shit... she’s their kid...
You know, while we still don’t know exactly how Nikolina came onboard this ship, I’d kind of assumed that the sailors (or perhaps someone affiliated with them) had found her trying to stow away or hiding down by the docks, and taken pity on her and decided to help her out. Because, I thought, there was no way Nikolina would reach out to strangers for help, given how scared she is. But the answer is that they weren’t strangers. They were family.
That’s why they’ve all been ready to risk everything without hesitation, even if it means covering up a murder. She’s their kid, and I’m about to make them watch it all be for nothing.
Yeah, Ryunosuke... it is...
(I love the way these spirits combine together. Nikolina looks even smaller and younger next to Stroganoff, and her hiding behind him while his fighting stance partly shields her does a good job of showing how things are for them right now. It makes me think of images of cornered animals protecting their young.)
Because he’s lying, but then I think you’ve already figured that out.
My time has come.
Susato, it’s ok. I’ve got this, you don’t need to make us look bad by suggesting things you know aren’t true.
DON’T PASS THE BUCK TO ME!!!
(Again, me an Rynosuke operate on the same wavelength now)
OH MY GOD, THE HIMBO DETECTIVE MADE A PROPER DEDICATION ALL ON HIS OWN!!!
HELL YEAH I DO!!!
Look at him go! He’s even using Susato’s fancy words to explain it!
And there goes the bolt on the door!
Now we’re explaining that the emergency stop button can be pressed at various different points around the ship, including, crucially, just outside these two cabins.
Oh Susato, you know as well as I do that this whole things had Herlock’s fingerprints all over it.
(Important information, along with not being trusted with a pet, do not trust Herlock Sholmes with any machinery or control panels)
To be honest this is the appropriate reaction. We’re at sea Herlock! Don’t mess with the thing that stands between us and drowning!
Herlock ‘But Did You Die’ Sholmes: Now lets not lose sight of the fact I got us evidence.
And the worst part is that he’s right.
Not if you drugged everyone!
I think it’s finally time to bring up the blank ships log.
Ok team, Herlock’s in charge of our excuses from now on!
We’re going through the fact that the log was blank, which with Stroganoff’s meticulous ritual of writing: Nothing to Report, every half hour on the dot, means that there definitely was something to report.
We sure are suggesting that Susato!
Not if you were drugged Hosonaga!
HE MADE ANOTHER PROPER DEDUCTION!!! I’M SO PROUD!!!
Ok, have the drugs finally worn off on Herlock’s brain, because he’s saying really smart things now. Or is it just that he’s taking things seriously rather than using this whole thing as a distraction?
Susato’s got it too!
So, because it’s such a large scale job, it couldn’t have been pulled off by any one person, meaning that the entire crew must have been in on it.
(Poor drugged Hosonaga, they really identified you weren’t one of them the second you set foot on this ship didn’t they?)
Now see, the problem with this strategy, is that while Bif might not be happy about the rest of his crew getting into trouble, I feel like this is a Murder on the Orient Express scenario, in the sense that everyone involved fully acknowledge the risks and came into this prepared to go down if necessary.
Yeah, he’s not happy, but he’s not cracking.
In fact, I’m not sure anything could cause him to crack. He is the one person’s standing between Nikolina and (potentially) death. I can’t see any way he’s going to back down.
I understand now, Herlock wasn’t aiming for him. Because they’re Nikolina’s family too.
It seems to be just like we suspected. Nikolina asked them to help her escape, and so, as one, the crew agreed to help her. They put sleeping drugs in the chicken so no one would notice what was happening, and got one of their comrades on the shore of Shanghai to take her to the ship at midnight.
Here’s the problem we have now though. Now she’s covering for them. Even if I’m wrong about Stroganoff or another member of the crew writing the message, the ships log means that they either knew or found out, and I can’t imagine they would have sat by and done nothing.
Wait a second though. We met Nikolina in her cabin, which means she must have got back inside some way or another. She couldn’t have done that if she was the one who pressed the alarm. I think this could be a way to establish someone must have helped her.
They’re still fighting, and to be honest I didn’t expect anything else. They’re both protecting each other now and it’s going to take nothing but evidence to make them budge.
I’m going to be perfectly honest Herlock, you’ve kind of lost me.
In fact I think you’ve lost most of the room...
ITS TIME FOR DANCE OF DEDUCTION 3: I WAS HOPPING I’D HAVE UNTIL THE NEXT CASE TO THINK UP A NAME!
Ryunosuke, don’t play dumb. We must dance!
(Or observe, that’s good too)
Right, well we’ve worked out Stroganoff was the one who did the fabrication, so we should probably focus on him first.
Got you.
To be honest I’m at a loss as to how he got some of the ink round there. Perhaps he knocked the ink over when he was sorting the crime scene out.
Or perhaps it was on his finger and he accidentally rubbed it over when he held his hands like this?
... I thought so...
:(
So, just after one in the morning, Bif was patrolling the corridor when a scared an pail Nikolina came up to him desperate for help. He followed her to Kazuma’s cabin and found him on the floor. Apparently the event before went on like Nikolina said, only instead of luring Darka through the vent, she went next door because she was worried about the sounds she’d heard through the vent.
... he’s still shielding her isn’t he?
I think Susato knows it too.
The problem is, that Nikolina’s following Bif’s lead. Perhaps if we had the chance to talk to her alone we’d know we were getting the truth, but not with Bif there. And to be honest I’m not sure I can really blame either of them for that.
I’m not 100% sure to be honest. And I don’t think I will be until this case is closed.
I’ll take that as not being done then.
I have no idea...
(His fist was closed, could that be the issue?)
(Thank you god of video games!)
OPEN WITH THAT NEXT TIME HERLOCK!
Yeah, we’re not going to be able to guess!
Nikolina’s earring!
Which he couldn’t have had if he was dead when she came in!
(Stroganoff’s face seems to suggest that we’ve reached the final curtain.)
I don’t think either of them can explain away this.
(Again, lead with the earring next time Herlock)
Things are in the right order now.
He let her in. He thought she was Hosonaga so he let her in.
It’s all going fine right now, but we know how this ends.
Of course he did, just by looking at Nikolina you can see she’s been through a lot, and besides, Kazuma has a secret all of his own.
Here we go. Whatever it might be, the thing that triggered Nikolina’s survival instinct is coming.
Ah shit...
You know, since the moment Darka disappeared through that vent, I’m not sure things were ever going to end differently. Kazuma was always going to open the door, he was always going to help the frightened girl he found there, and being the incredibly quick man that he was, he was always going to recognize her.
And Kazuma was always going to want to look into the situation, and that was always going to tip Nikolina into a panic. And then sooner or later she was going to lash out in what seemed to her to be necessary self defence.
Here it is.
Oh!?
So this wasn’t the trigger. But then what was?
Oh no. He was going to get Ryunosuke from the wardrobe. The wardrobe Nikolina couldn’t possibly grasp the significance of, but that was right next to the bell cord.
(Also didn’t I say the captain was somehow to blame?)
(What do you guys say we chalk it up to him and put this whole business behind us?)
(And yes I do know that I’m stalling again)
... in a panic you struck out... and he stumbled... and hit his head on the way down...
I see, so Darka put him off balance first. And so when you pushed him he he hit his head on the bedpost.
Fear, adrenaline, and a lack of judgment due to stress and trauma. Perhaps if this had happened on any day other than the one where you’d just fled things would have been different, but maybe not. It’s hard to tell.
And we know the rest...
Stroganoff cleared away as much of Nikolina’s presence as he could find, and in doing so found Ryunosuke asleep in the wardrobe. It must have seemed like fate was giving him a stranger who could take the fall instead of his kid.
So Nikolina was the one who ‘cleared away’ the bell. That explain why some of it was left behind, and why it ended up in her bin. Stroganoff would probably have thrown it overboard.
What’s that?
I see, that’s a good question.
What he said about the inspector...
Oh dear.
Hosonaga, you were literally drugged at the time, and I’m still pretty sure you were set up to fail (which does raise the question of what would have happened to Kazuma if Nikolina hadn’t killed him)
Susato?
I see, she’s realized that he was going for Ryunosuke, thus slotting the final piece of this whole tragedy neatly into place.
(These two cases are really going all out in very different ways. The next one better let me relax and have fun Maskqu de Masque style. I’m not sure I can take much more of this.)
Here it comes, the unnecessariness of the whole murder.
:(
Yeah...
:((
Ryunosuke’s best friend has been murdered because of the misunderstandings of a child, and he’s been raked over the coals because of that. While it might not be the kindest thing to say for Nikolina, it’s an important thing to say for Ryunosuke, and I feel he’s justified in saying it.
In fact it would probably be a bad sign if he didn’t say this. He’s as much of a victim in this whole affair as anyone. I’m glad he’s at least getting an apology from Nikolina, even though it’s unfortunately gone past the point where that would be useful.
It’s finally over, and just as I predicted it doesn’t feel good.
HOSONAGA SATURO YOU HEAL LIKE A CHAMP!
‘It’s just a scratch’, you said.
‘Go to a hospital’, we cried.
‘No need, just give me a few hours to click my face back into position and pass me back my glasses lenses and I’ll be fine’
Hosonaga, you are unkillable and this is exactly why you’re superiors had to resort to shipping you out.
Ok, enough fun declaring Hosonaga to be our new god. Let’s go back to the serious and depressing business of Nikolina.
So, it seems like Nikolina will be handed over to Scotland Yard, and Herlock will sort things out with the immigrations office so she doesn’t have to go back to Russia.
Also the way they’re talking about her future means that she’s not going to be executed (thank god), which makes sense given that she committed manslaughter rather than murder. Whether or not she goes to prison will probably depend on the judge as, while she has the fact that she’s a white female child, she is also not English and speaks with a strong accent, and therefore, is going to be subjected to a lot of Xenophobia.
Hm?
Ah.
Again, I’m glad Ryunosuke’s getting these apologies.
Wait, are you sure Stroganoff? Like yeah, you’re not going to get done for murder, and the whole defending a kid thing will play of pretty well in court (plus the man you accused wasn’t English and has a less white skin tone than you). But you are also a Russian man with a strong accent and you won’t be able to fall back on being a child or let the evils of sexism and xenophobia fight each other.
Well at least we’re free again, even if we’re in a worst place than when we started.
You know he will Ryunosuke. And given how well he was defending her till now, I think he might just succeed.
But we have to get to England to make Kazuma’s dream come true!
Herlock, can you come to us again in our hour of need? I know we have a lot of them but...
:(
:(
(I swear to god this game is shooting for my jugular)
We’re holding Kazuma’s sword, aka, his spirit. Please don’t make me let it go game.
Is it too much to ask for them to hug? I think they both need it.
Hold us Hosonaga.
(Though not me (Eleanor). Instinct tells me we must remain two meters apart so our weird lungs don’t accidentally take each other out.)
(I cannot be the person who killed Hosonaga)
(And yes I am trying to lighten the mood with my talk of genetic lung conditions because I’m aware it’s only going to get sadder)
(Told you)
There was nothing you could have done Hosonaga, and it’s become my own private mission now to find a way to prove that to you.
:(((
Game are we going to have to sail to England on Hosonaga’s guilt?
I’m aware that you’ve got a whole fun game lined up over there, but is this really the only way?
Can’t we just go to Japanfornia instead, track down Amy Fey (if she’s even been born yet) and get Kazuma back on our team?
No... ok...
Exactly!
WHAT! WHY AM I BACK IN HANDCUFFS!??
HERLOCK SHOLMES COME OUT HERE RIGHT NOW, THIS IS ONLY A LITTLE BIT FUNNY!
He’s amusing himself at least...
(You know what, I’ve decided right now that this is a family friendly blog, so no, I’m not going to say what I’m thinking. You can’t make me.)
Also read the room Herlock, the three of us were having a moment!
Nice save.
Ryunosuke’s trying to throw himself under the buss and send Susato and Herlock and Hosonaga off to go live out the rest of the game without him.
Sorry Ryunosuke, but you’re the protagonist. We can’t leave without you.
That’s it! Ryunosuke, you’re naturally good at lawyering! It’s time for you to take up Kazuma’s mantle!
Am I chopped liver to you Susato?
Are we doing a studying montage on the ship over?
Yes Ryunosuke!
Training montage Hosonaga!
You can help! Teach me how to be the crime scene thief and not give a damn!
(Actually on second thoughts, maybe you should sit this one out and offer moral support instead)
Said Hosonaga, knowing that I wasn’t.
(*Eye of the tiger starts to play*)
I CAN LEARN ENOUGH TO WING IT HOSONAGA!
HELL YEAH!!!
Oh good, I’d forgotten about Kazuma’s morally ambiguities loose end.
(Probably because every character I fancy has one of them and it’s no longer anything to write home about.)
Let’s do this Susato, me an you all the way!
Hosonaga? You cool too?
Wait, now is not the time to be sensible Hosonaga! Remember when we got Miss Brett? That was against protocol and it meant we got to see her take off via her big hat! (Although we didn’t get justice and it ended with you being shipped out, but let’s not dwell on that.)
Hosonaga normally (while shovelling three tables worth of crockery into his bag): Nothing will get in my way! I’ll lay my life on the line if I have to! I will strait up ignore the rules if I think they are unjust!
Hosonaga when Herlock is present: I have never broken a rule in my life, nor would I ever do so. I am the most sensible and down to earth man you will ever meet, please ignore the way I am dressed right now.
What happened Hosonaga, did you watch me and Herlock doing our dance of deduction and immediately decided someone had to be the adult and it might as well be you?
Or... did watching Herlock roll around on the floor and cling like a limpet to the walls make you wonder that this is how you come across?
Because to be honest you were loudly declaring yourself the Crime Scene Thief just last trial... so I don’t think you’ll ever be able to create too much contrast in our eyes.
Come on Crime Scene Thief!
Herlock’s aiming right for Hosonaga’s canonically shit schooling with those words.
Remember who you are Hosnaga! You’re the badass who lay his life on the line for us!
(I like how much Herlock’s talking Ryunoskue up, I guess this makes up for the fact he handcuffed us again for the asthenic)
Hooray!!! Hosonaga’s taking us to Disneyland England!
“Hello, this is Saturo Hosanaga. Just calling to say that I’ve done it again... yes I understand that my breaking the rules makes you sad, but I simply will not stop... well you see, they’re unfair and heavily biased in your favour. Also we both know if you could have stopped me you would have done so long ago. Goodbye.”
Capcom! Stop trying to make me get to England off of Hosonaga’s guilt!
Allow me to come with you, or at the very least please borrow the KBS (Kazuma’s big sword) for protection.
Goodbye Hosonaga... until we meet again...
But (and I need to make this very clear Capcom gods) not my mentor!
The KBS!
We will guard this with our lives!
(Karuma huh? That name sounds faintly familiar.)
(Ok Google, now play Eye Of The Tiger)
WE ARN’T DOING THIS AGAIN CAPCOM! PUT THOSE DEATH FLAGS DOWN!
Oh thank god, she just wants to be even!
Ryunosuke, are you sure you’re even able to do that?
You heard the lady Ryunosuke. (And no this totally isn’t because I want to see if you’re even able to do it.)
Booo
Herlock, I love you, but...
KICK HIS ASS SUSATO!!!
WHY ME!!!
Poor sweet Ryunosuke...
Ah, I see it’s time to be sad again.
Oh Kazuma, what were you up to?
Anyways, that’s it for The Adventure of the Unbreakable Speckled Band. Join me next time for The Adventure of the Runaway Room!

Hypothetical P5A
Okay, gonna make this clear right up front, I wanted to make this post for a while but the main reason I decided to do it now is because the Atlus announcement thing is almost here, and also cause I saw a video on this topic by Thorgi’s Arcade (go watch it btw it’s good) and while I agree with a lot of what he said, there’s also some things I’d change, not just cause I disagree, but also cause I think it would be fun. Anyway enough beating around the bush, let’s do this
Gameplay
I’m a firm believer in the phrase, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, and the Arena games are already really good so not much to change. That being said, I still wanna change some things. First off though, we are keeping this 1 vs 1, no tag team matches. The arena games already have a lot of Mechanics going on and trying to keep everything as well as some new stuff WHILE adding a tag team button, yeah no let’s not outside of maybe a bonus mode.
This means I can’t add Batton Pass in as a new mechanic to represent P5, but I have a solution, that being Technicals. Status ailments already exist in this game, so how about when you inflict one and do a specific combo you do more damage, also providing risk vs reward as the player with the status will have a better idea of what the opponent will do making them more predictable. Also as for Persona’s, mostly everyone’s will be fully evolved, minus Yu cause him getting a final boss persona normally is a tad to OP, meanwhile the P5 characters will have their starting Persona’s, but they will evolve for big moves, like awakened mode supers and instant kills
I’m also borrowing Thorgi’s Arcade idea of having supports giving a slight buff in battle, like if you pick Fuuka your meter can build faster for a bit, meanwhile if you pick Futaba you’ll get an attack and defence buff. It’s the fairest way to include them without having to make them playable. I know Rise is already playable but this roster is going to have to be small as it is, and being a support doesn’t mean you can’t be DLC later.
Also, we’re not bringing back the Shadow Characters, just, we are not dealing with the likes of Shadow Naoto again.
:readmore:
Story
I am about to cop out a bit here, but Thorgi’s Arcade video had a really good idea for the story so I’ll just link it here https://youtu.be/yyB5rEM9UVU
youtube
To summarise for people who don’t want to watch, Nyarlathotep, the main villain from the Persona 2 games, has been gaining strength from all the suffering humanity has gone through due to 3, 4 and 5, and has gained enough strength to create a new Joker to try finish what he started and destroy the world. Mitsuru might think the Phantom Thieves are behind it cause this is clearly persona related and the fact that the leader of the PT’s is also named Joker is public knowledge, Naoto gets largely the same idea, Katsuya and Maya decide to have their own investigation, meanwhile the Phantom Thieves are trying to prove their innocence and help save the world. Nice excuse to bring everyone together, but who will the everyone be?
Base Roster
Okay, I know the dream is getting everyone from Ultimax back plus the new P5 characters, but given Arc System’s standard for small base rosters, I’m not holding my breath. The ideal would be everyone plus who I’m about to say for P2 and P5, but I’m keeping it… somewhat realistic. Anyway onto the actual size, 16 seems fair enough. One more than the most recent Guilty Gear game for a series that had pretty big success so that sound fair enough. Let’s get the obvious out of the way though, all the base 8 Phantom Thieves besides Futaba are making the cut
Okay so that’s obvious but how will they play? Starting off with Ren/Joker, Smash Bros already laid a great foundation with him being very fast on the ground and in the air plus being great at combos, so I see no reason to change that. Also no need for him to be a Jack of all trades either cause spoilers, Yu is coming back and he already fills that role.
As for the others, Ryuji I can see being a slugger charge hybrid. Basically starting out he hits pretty hard but is a bit on the slow side to compensate, but just like any good athlete, give him a chance to warm up, ie do a charge input, and he becomes a lot faster and has better combo potential. Or we could make him a toned down version of Little Mac where he’s great on the ground but he’s in trouble the second aerial combat is involved. Then there’s Morgana who with his ability to turn into cars and the fact he introduces thief tools like smoke bombs, I can see him being a faster but frailer successor to Teddie.
Then there’s Ann who, no doubt, she’s a Zoner, and with her fire she’ll be Yukiko’s sort of successor. However instead of healing, I’d implement the fact that she learns concentrate and have it so the more she charges it up, the stronger her attacks get, but the Meter will gradually go down over the match. Yusuke, as tempting as it is to cop out and say ‘have him play like Vergil in Marvel vs Capcom’, I have a different idea. Namely, take advantage of the fact that Yusuke can learn counter by having him be the defensive specialist, set up ice traps to freeze the opponent, and if they get close, he can either counter or go for some combos.
Then there’s Makoto who would definitely be a grappler. I mean, she practices Aikido and is really strong, she can 100% pull it off. Finally Haru…… TANK! I mean come on, Haru wields an axe, has a grenade launcher, and Melady is literally a dancing tank in a pink dress, it just makes too much sense. I’d also give her a bit of armor cause if she’s slow she at least needs a chance to get her attacks in.
Okay so that’s 7 out of our 16 slots down, and given that one slot will have to be saved for the Evil Joker who would be the villain, we’re halfway done with 3 games to go, lord help me.
Okay, starting this off with P4, I’m gonna give them more than the others purely because they were the focus of the originals and there’s less realistic cuts I can make compared to 2 and 3. To make things simple, every returning character would play the same, and as for the ones I’d bring back for the base roster, we’ve got Yu, Yosuke, Chie and Naoto. Why them specifically? Well Yu is the main character, Naoto being a detective would basically mean she’d be the one getting everyone involved in the first place, Chie is currently training to be a cop as confirmed in P5 so her getting called in makes sense, and Yosuke is the best investigator after Yu and Naoto, he’s always up for a mystery and the second he learns Yu is involved he’s joining in. I just couldn’t cut him.
Now before the really painful cuts, Persona 2 is really easy. Out of Innocent Sin party members, by the end of the series Maya is the only one left with a Persona, and Katsuya is not only older brother of Innocent Sin’s protag Tatsuya, but he’s also pretty important and a detective so he’s definetly the one Maya’s dragging into this. As for how they play, they both use guns like Naoto, but how I’d mix them up is with Katsuya, I’d let him attack while moving (unlike Naoto who has so stay still to fire) at the cost of less combo potential, meanwhile Maya dual wields her guns so she’ll probably play like Noel Vermillion from BlazBlue where she’d more or less just use the guns to get longer reach melee attacks instead of shooting.
Now, for the hard part. There’s only 2 slots left, one of them basically has to go to Mitsuru (not that I’m complaining I’d probably add her anyway) meaning now I have to choose between the rest of the Shadow Operatives/SEES for the last slot. I narrowed it down to the 3 that were in the original Arena cause they’re the most plot relevant, but that still meant I had to choose between Akihiko and Aigis. I ended up deciding on Aigis though cause A, with Labrys not making the base roster someone has to represent the robots of the series, and B, with Akihiko currently pulling a Ryu by travelling to get stronger, it makes more sense that Aigis would be closer and easier for Mitsuru to call up. Honestly I was tempted to bump the roster up to 17 so I could have both of them on the base roster, but this is ArcSystems, 16 is already kinda pushing it.
DLC
Given that this is a modern fighting game, DLC is inevitable. However since this DLC will likely be like Ultimax where the story acts to wrap up loose ends and have a new story, it’s going yo be big, especially since there’s going to be a fight with Nyaraloptep, so go big or go home in this case. Okay so first order of business, anyone who was in the previous arena games who wasn’t in the base roster is getting added back in, it’s only fair. That out of the way, the new faces I’d add are Futaba actually being playable now and the big 4 P5 characters I skipped, Akechi, Yoshizawa, and Sophie. Before anyone asks though, Sophie was added into a Dragalia Lost collab with Koei Techmo not being credited so she’s likely Atlus’s copyright so she's safe to add.
With that out of the way, how would they play? Starting with Futaba, I’d think she’d be the resident puppet fighter, sitting on top of Necinomicon and only occasionally adding in some of her own attacks like a projectile. Also she'd also probably act as a bit of a grappler cause her Persona has tentacles (no hentai jokes please) which have long reach so that'll be perfect for it. Next up is Akechi who I can see as semi being two characters in one. My basic idea is that at first Akechi will be fighting with Robin Hood and he'll be a solid jack of all trades with a slight focus on rush down. However once he goes into his awakened mode he'll gain Loki, which will increase his speed and attack strength, at the cost of his defence, turning him into a glass cannon.
Next is Yoshizawa, or 'Sumi as I like to call her, and her thing will be she's the mobility focused fighter, namely constantly moving around the stage and poking at her opponent while doing it, at the cost of being frail. Finally there’s Sophie who would be a combo focused zoner, as in her standard projectiles (the yo-yo’s) wouldn’t hurt that much on their own, but she can string them together into the fancy yo-yo tricks to potentially do big damage. As for how much this DLC would cost, it’s going to be very big, so €25 to €30 sounds fair
I think that more or less covers my thoughts. I could keep going on about this for a while, but I think this is a good place to stop. Hope you like my idea!

I saw someone the other day here on good ol' tungle complain (before the show came out, mind you) that Claire wasn't going to be in the show enough and wasn't gonna play an integral role, and like. I can understand why that thought is upsetting, bc the girl is a badass and deserves more screentime for sure, but like not only did they end up being wrong (our girl kicked ass, played a huge role in the plot, and was just generally amazing) but they had like, blamed Leon a little bit for it? As tho it was his fault the writers don't give three shits about the female protagonists in the franchise (who, if I remember correctly, only one of which gets an actual entire game to herself? The rest, to my knowledge, are POV swapping games, which are fine but like. Come on Capcom)??? It was v weird and caused me to unfollow them bc they were already disappointed by the show, they blamed Leon, and they acted like, surprised? I don't know about you, but I'm never surprised by franchises like this when they put one of their main female characters on/in the promotional to garner attention and then she's actually only in it for five seconds. That's just misogyny (which I'm not excusing or saying is okay, obvs, but don't push blame onto the other main character, just bc he's the main character? Leon didn't choose to push Claire out of the spotlight, and honestly I don't even think he did. Like he got more screentime then her, yeah, but I think this is as close as we were gonna get to a fair split amount of time between the two, with capcom's history of "women? What women? Oh you mean convenient plot devices?"), so don't hate on people who love Leon, and don't hate on the character himself. Like what the what? As a Leon lover (he is my favorite, I love him sm), I am pissed that we never get to see Claire in anything, that we hardly ever saw Jill after RE3, and that all female protags are secondary to their male counterparts. It's bullshit, frankly, but taking it out on other fans and the other characters in the franchise is. Not good, and will just isolate you further from the fandom. Don't know if this is a hot take or not lol and I'm not trying to like be mean or start a fight with anyone, I just needed to rant about this bc it was bothering me and I figured you would kinda get where I was coming from? Also I love your rants, you are v knowledgeable lol
okay so... i saw some of that going around too. and it doesn't really make sense to me for multiple reasons. first of all, some people already decided that ID would suck even before it came out, they decided Claire would get no screen time and decided they'd ruin her character and... all of that before they'd seen more than the trailers? and I just don't get it, why not give it a chance before judging it?
i do understand that people want Claire to have a big role and want her to get the chance to shine. i want that, too! she absolutely deserves that! and I get being scared of what would become of it! i was nervous beforehand that they'd take the characters (both of them) into a direction that I'd find disappointing. when I pressed play on the first episode I was terrified as much as excited, because there was no way of knowing before seeing it.
but i do think it's important to press play and watch for yourself before condemning the entire thing.
and as for blaming Leon for Claire allegedly not having a large enough part in it? it... makes zero sense. it's not like they're living breathing people who have an actual say in what happens? :'D overall I find it weird how readily people jump to attack other characters to defend their own favorites. I don't understand this whole shooting down others to lift your own fave. there are ways to appreciate a character without hating on everyone else.
(that is not to say you're not allowed to hate on characters! of course you can hate characters! but like. you don't need to hate whoever you deem a "rival" just because. it's not a competition.)
and yeah, there is a long history of misleading promotion where a character is advertised as a main character and then sidelined to only appear for a bit. and it was a possibility. but it didn't happen, and I for one am happy about it. (what I am disappointed in, is that they made it seem like Leon and Claire would work together, while they did that for like two and a half minutes. but well. can't win them all)
(tangentially, they did something a bit similar to Chris in re8 too, the promotions relied super heavily on him but from what i understood (without having actually played the game, so correct me if i'm wrong!) he was a playable character for a very small portion of the game. so. they used him and his fanbase for promotion a little misleadingly. so yeah it is a real concern that could've happened)
like you said, Leon might've gotten more screentime if you only count the minutes. but Claire was an integral part of the story, she was fighting for the things she believes in, she got to be fierce (that headbutt is like the highlight of the movie :'D) and it wouldn't have been the same without her.
yeah it is bullshit how Capcom just threw Jill aside, and are tragically underusing a lot of their female characters. and I'm not trying to excuse that. but I do think they have a general problem with forgetting all of their characters except for Chris and Leon, who have gotten to be in most things (even tho to be fair they're not getting a fully consistent storyline either but. they do get screentime?). they create the most wonderful characters and then forget all about them, and it sucks.
but that's a problem with the people who make these movies and games. not the characters in said movies and games. so taking your own disappointment out on other characters and their fans is just... counter productive at best. it just leads to anger and resentment and the absolutely pointless fandom wars no one benefits from. i, for one, am too old for that bullshit.
so yeah, I get what you're coming from. it is so frustrating to see the unfounded hate. and tbh I've seen Leon get quite a bit of it. but that just comes with the territory I guess. he is popular, and some people react badly to it. which doesn't make sense to me, personally, but hey it is what it is.
I know it's easier said than done, but try to focus on the good! we got new content, Leon and Claire both got to be important parts in the story, they both kicked ass and looked amazing doing it! for the most part they both felt very in character, and I have high hopes we might get more in the form of season 2! :3
also, I'm glad you're enjoying my ramblings :'D I have a lot of thoughts but I usually get carried away rambling and I'm never sure how much sense i make, lol.

What I Would Add To/ Change About: Devil May Cry 5
Hello again! Today is March 8th! Two years ago, Devil May Cry 5 was released, over ten years after Devil May Cry 4. Such a long gap caused many to believe that Capcom abandoned the franchise, but to our surprise at the 2018 E3 conference, after years of silence and tentative hope brought by a picture of Reuben Langdon and Johnny Yong Bosch in mocap gear, the day we dreamed of happened: DMC was back!
Now here’s the million dollar question: Did Devil May Cry 5 live up to it’s fans’ expectations after all those years?
I’m pleased to say, YES!
To the whole collective fandom, this game was totally Smokin’ Sexy Stylish!
To me individually...
Well...
It wasn’t really what I’d thought it’d be.
This is all just my own personal opinion and if you disagree with me, that’s perfectly okay! If you’d like to talk about a point I made, please let me know, but please try to respect my opinion as I respect yours.
Fair warning, I won’t talk about online stuff. I’m not an online gamer, that’s just not me.
Well, with out further ado, let’s get started!
SPOILERS AHEAD!
Like the last time, I’d like to start with the positives before getting to the things I wasn’t 100% on board with.
Combat. It’s DMC, and it’s styling way past any other game that dare challenge it.
The music: Frustration is getting bigger! BANG, BANG, BANG! Pull my Devil Trigger!
NICO. I jut love that crazy chick. And yay! Nero has a friend!
The death screen changes were SO helpful. Giving an option to come back in the middle of a fight saved me so much time! As long as it stuck to in-game currency...
The backgrounds are so detailed, Redgrave City looks amazing! And I was really happy when they brought back that gorgeous gothic architecture for Sparda’s mansion!
Bosses are tough, but not to unfair levels. It really makes you feel awesome when you finally knock that last bit of health out.
I’ll never miss an opportunity to fight Vergil. One for having an opponent that doesn’t tower over you, two for his fights just being great as usual. And after everything he’s done, yeah, it feels good to beat the ever loving crap out of him.
Dante dance. I cannot do it justice.
Lady’s new outfit is so cool!
Patty! Call her back Dante!
MOTORCYCLE! BUZZSAWS!
Dante has officially embraced being a silver fox. I salute him.
LORE!!!!!!
NERO! NERO! NERO! BEST BOY, SPICY SON I LOVE YOU SO MUCH YOU PRECIOUS BLOODTHIRSTY SWEETHEART!
You can see just how much detail went into the game. From the blood tubes staining you to V decomposing, it’s astounding.
Nero got a Devil Trigger! And it’s GORGEOUS! ...I do miss his persona, though...
Seeing all our favorite demon hunters again! I missed these guys!
Okay, but before we get to what I wish they added, I want to say something.
I have a lot of issues with this game, but while I can blame some of that on the writing and design teams, a lot of it is also on me having spent years basically imagining the story that would be perfect for me and probably me only. So a lot of my problems may boil down to the game not matching my imaginary scenario, so take my suggestions with a grain of salt.
Now here are some things that could have possibly made me like the game more.
ADD:
MORE LADY AND TRISH. These women were screwed when it came to the plot and they could have done more, what the heck?! Maybe some scenes where they try to process what happened to them, have them distraught at having been used by Urizen to help him destroy the city and blame themselves. Have Lady blow up at Dante for not warning them about what was really going on, for letting them go in unprepared, let her tell him that the blood of the city is on their hands because he kept his mouth shut. Lady is a huge influence in his life, and I feel like this would really open his eyes to how much he messed up.
As for Trish, she knows better than anyone else that you can really screw up and hurt someone that cares about you. Maybe after everything goes down, she could be the one to encourage everyone that, “Yeah, we messed up big time. But sitting around here hating ourselves isn’t getting anything done. So get up, we’ve got a city to fix.” I feel like this could really show how human she’s gotten from being with Dante and the others. I think it’d make her look more multi-dimensional.
And how come Vergil can get a DLC when he was in the game even less than they were?! The women in these games deserve equal representation, Capcom’s DMC developers!
And as for Vergil, maybe make his deal less ambiguous? I mean, the whole “Is Vergil really redeemed?” debate is really bringing out the worst in people. Like yeah, keep it ambiguous to the characters, it makes sense for Vergil to not show something “weak” like remorse to others, but show it in a way that the player can easily interpret.
Give Vergil some missions to himself where he takes in exactly what he’s done. Have him see Redgrave City, where he was born, devastated, people he may have once known reduced to ashes and know this is all because of him. That just because he wanted to be stronger, he’s destroyed lives, because even if he had no intentions of doing so, the split went against his wishes and left him weak to see a tyrant slaughter countless people without any goal. Have him realize that even if that was unintentional, he still nearly almost ended humanity once before with a sound mind (Temen-ni-gru) so he can’t pretend he’s in the right and that he’s actually probably a disgrace to Sparda’s legacy. Have him run into a sobbing little boy crying that his mother was killed and he lost his brother, maybe in the ruins of the family home. Have Vergil look into a mirror and see Mundus, have him realize that he’s no better than the demon that killed his mother and imprisoned him for years. Have him hallucinate Sparda disowning him for going against everything Sparda believed in. Have him see Eva sadly tell him that she wanted to save him, but seeing what he’s become lament that she lost her life trying to save a monster. And when Dante tells him Nero’s his son, he freezes. He abandoned and maimed his own child, left him for his brother to care for. Dante sees this and doesn’t know what to do? Is Vergil...sorry? Can he take a chance on him this time?
Or leave him an unrepentant jerk that’s just upset he still can’t win and expressly tells Nero he’s only going to cut down the Qliphoth down so he can fight Nero again and because he doesn’t want to give up Yamato.
And for that matter, make V’s goal clearer to the player. Have him expressly state, when he’s by himself with his familiars with no one that he can manipulate around that:
A. He wants to stop Urizen and prevent anymore devastation as atonement for his crimes as Vergil and part of the reason he wants to merge again is that while he does want to fight Dante again, he deserves to die as Vergil or defeat Dante and fix his mistakes by himself, realizing that Dante’s been cleaning up his messes for years.
B: He wants his power back, his mind got stuck in the human half and he can’t stand how weak it is. Everyone is just a stepping stone for him to be stronger.
Actually have the characters react to the Qliphoth. Seriously, everyone is crazy apathetic to all the death and destruction that they failed to stop. Aren’t they supposed to be the “heroes?” The only character this would make sense for, ironically, the one who actually seems to remember it exists at the end, Nero. Yeah. Remember how he didn’t care about anything but Kyrie in 4? Remember how the developers said he would just walk away after Dante shot the pope if Kyrie wasn’t there? I’m not say he needed to stay apathetic, I’m just saying it doesn’t make sense for him to be the righteous character.
Have Dante at some point just look out at Redgrave and see that if he had told the others what was going on, maybe this wouldn’t have happened. “...This didn’t have to happen.” Have this weigh on him. He’ll still act goofy, but he realizes that his selfishness can have real consequences.
Have him realize that he really hurt Nero with what he said and that he used Nero’s trauma and insecurity against him in the heat of the moment and it’s causing a rift between him. When he’s alone, make him privately promise to make it up to him later and actually apologize at some point near the end. Dante should know from his experiences with Vergil that insecurity can lead someone down the wrong path and that if he doesn’t do something he could lose one of the few positive relationships he has.
Have Nico have at least one freak out at everything around her and realize that she might not be as ready for this as she thought. She hasn’t experienced something like this before like the others. Nero comforts her and it makes their friendship grow stronger.
When Nero starts talking about family, he should acknowledge that while he is related to Vergil, they’re not really a family yet until they actually work for it, and that he knows what a real family is like, the ones who adopted him and were there for him (Kyrie’s parents, Credo, Kyrie, Nico, Dante, Lady, Trish, etc.).
Make it clearer that Vergil isn’t forgiven for his crimes, but that they’re willing to give him a chance. His last one.
Alright, now for the overall changes.
CHANGE:
The entire ending. Instead of Dante going down with Vergil, Vergil stops him and tells him that his life is here, with people that haven’t hurt him like he has. Dante tries to protest, says he can’t leave Vergil free to do whatever, but Vergil gives a bittersweet smile and tells him he can’t stop him, but it’s obvious Vergil’s not going to do anything again. When Dante gets desperate and tells Vergil he can’t leave him again, Vergil tells Dante he’ll be back, once he’s cleaned up his own mess for once; he’s the older brother after all. With that, Vergil goes to fix his mistake.
Dante’s left behind by his brother again. Instead of brushing things under the table, Nero is furious with Dante for never telling him the truth about his family. Especially after he was left uncertain about the future and looked to Dante for guidance, Nero feels betrayed. Dante understands and apologizes. Nero’s too upset to accept and tells Dante he needs time to think before he’s ready to talk to him again. Instead of begging Nero to stay and keep a connection he desperately needs, Dante lets him go, realizing that if he wants to fix things, he needs to start learning how to talk about how he actually feels instead of covering things up and unintentionally hurting those he loves.
Vergil destroys the Qliphoth, but doesn’t leave the Underworld. Realizing just how much he’s sinned, starting all the way back to Temen-ni-gru, he resolves to not go back to the human world until he’s made himself one worthy of being a Son of Sparda, finally understanding what that really means. Descending into the Underworld, he won’t leave until he’s eliminated those that would harm the world his brother, father and son protect so hard. This could be the start of his own spin-off series that would focus more on the demon lore in the games and take place entirely in the Underworld with Vergil struggling to be a better person and take responsibility for his own actions. Devil May Cry: Atonement, maybe.
Nero heads back home with Nico but doesn’t read V’s book. Hurt from his betrayal, he puts it in a box and seals it up for Vergil’s maybe return. When Nico starts talking about how Agnus is the reason she’s alive, she also acknowledges that she already has a real father and family that love her and subtly (and stutteringly) implies Nero’s a part of that, cementing that Nero has a family that loves him and is there for him. Nero thanks her and the two descend into silence for a bit before they start mocking each other and end up laughing before Nico realizes Nero’s crying. When she starts freaking out, he explains that he’s scared he’s still not strong enough to protect them, but before Nico can say anything, the phone rings. Answering it, a voice says, “You don’t have to be.” Looking out front the two see Kyrie and Patty, decked out in hunting gear, a phone in Kyrie’s hand. Smiling at them, she says into it, “We’ll protect each other.” Running out of the van, Nero scoops Kyrie up in a hug. When Patty starts complaining about them ignoring her, Nico pulls her away and tells her not to interrupt. After a bit, the group looks out at the horizon and vow to fight together, not letting themselves fall to the bitterness that led to this mess. Seeing some demons approach and watching his crew get ready, Nero smiles before smirking and gets ready to throw down. “Let’s rock!” Devil May Cry: Forsaken.
Dante looks out over Redgrave from his childhood home, silently miserable. After a while, Lady and Trish come over and try to talk, but he cuts them off with an apology. Fully realizing how his inability to let other people in nearly got them all killed, he encourages them to leave so they don’t end up like that again. Stunned from Dante apologizing, the two are silent. Then Lady angrily asks, “What the hell?! Just how dumb are you?!” She tells him that yeah he really screwed up this time, but they’re not going anywhere! He’s an idiot, but he’s THEIR idiot, and they’re not leaving him alone. They need him and he needs them. Trish tells him that if he has time to mope, he has time to clean up the city. The girls begin to walk back to the city and tell him to hurry up. A genuine smile on his face, Dante looks to his family’s home one more time, sheds some tears and walks away, from his past to his new family. Devil May Cry 6 will pick up on what happens next.
If Resident Evil can have like 50 spin-offs, why can’t DMC?
Alternatively, I’m also open to the suggestion of Vergil being stuck as V for the rest of his life. Karmic punishment at it’s finest.
In all honestly, Vergil was really unnecessary to bring back. Like, just make him DLCs, his whole story is done. It just feels like fanservice and the writers banking on a popular character to bring in sales. I also feel like the game bends itself over backwards to please him (back to life, cheat coded to power, no more nightmares, gets to fight Dante whenever he wants, gets a son who wants his acknowledgement he didn’t have to raise, crimes are basically swept under the rug) while everyone else gets kind of screwed over (Dante has to leave his friends behind, Nero’s abandoned again, Lady and Trish are captured and get no screen time, V’s familiars are gone, millions are dead).
I think Urizen and V should have been their own things: I liked the idea of Urizen being the general of Mundus that attacked Dante’s house (his ACTUAL reason for fighting) and V being Mundus’ son who was abused and bonded with his henchmen who decided to become a devil hunter in vengeance for his mistreatment. I dunno, I feel bad V (who legitimately creeped me out) was just made into a convenient little redemption arc.
Nero’s character arc really should have been something else. I think he should have learned throughout the story to stop caring what others thought about him (a trait that should have been visible in 4 if it was going to be such a big deal in 5) and learn to trust his own strength. He should’ve realized that he doesn’t need to prove anything to Dante, he’s never going to be the same and he should be happy with who he is. Also, wanting Vergil’s acknowledgement doesn’t make sense. He may be his biological father, but literally the only things Nero knows about him is that he ripped his arm off, started the apocalypse, got millions killed, manipulated him and wants to kill the guy who was actually like a dad to him. Biological ties can only count for so much.
Alternatively, his arc could have been about becoming a more compassionate person. Like I said earlier, it’d make sense if he didn’t care about anyone other than Kyrie being in trouble. And remember when he tried to kill an armor he thought had a human in it in 4? Along with the seemingly human Agnus? Have Dante worried Nero might go down the wrong path. Have him tell Nero about Vergil WAY earlier (months after 4) and have Nero worried if he’ll turn out like that. Nero actually had more potential to be dark than Dante, and I feel like that in trying to make him look like a perfect hero in 5, they had to make Dante look worse (keeping secrets, ignoring suffering, etc.).
And instead of “deadweight,” Nero’s berserk button should have been Dante not telling him things. You know, like the Order? The group he worked for that tried to start the apocalypse in secret and nearly got him and his girlfriend killed along with actually killing his older bother? Yeah.
I do not like the hyperrealism. This is purely on me preferring more animesque art styles, but I always felt that not looking like actual humans helped the series’ fantastic elements shine.
Dante’s new outfit is just so...muted. It’s just boring. Dante’s supposed to be flashy, dang it! Give me back the chaps!
Nero’s hair is awful. It just looks terrible on him, I wanted him to have long, pretty hair. They should have just kept his trigger hair all throughout the game.
Also, Dante’s the hunk, give Nero back his soft, pretty boy face!
DON’T GET RID OF DEVIL BRINGER! I hated using the Devil Breakers, who wants breakable weapons in Devil May Cry?! What’s next, reloading ammo?! And if you can come back from being stabbed, shot, electrocuted, impaled, would it kill you to let Nero grow his demon arm back to keep his playstyle easier?! And if you needed a challenge, congratulations! Nero lost his Devil Trigger! WORK WITH THAT!
Please don’t get rid of Dante. I love Nero, but he can’t do the main protagonist role. This is Dante’s series and he needs to finish it. Sure, give Nero a spin-off or two, but let Dante finish the story; the “Sons of Sparda” storyline was just 3. Not the whole series. Vergil is an important figure in Dante’s story, but he’s not where it ends. Dante. And. Vergil’s. Lives. Do. Not. Revolve. Around. Each. Other. They just liked to fight each other and developed opposing ideals, but their overall goals ultimately didn’t really factor in the other.
The whole Vergil abandonment thing shouldn’t have happened along with his beating Dante obsession, it seriously weakened Vergil’s character. He started out as someone who wanted the power to defend himself and became so deluded that he was ready to disregard any moral limitation to get it and simply fought Dante to amuse himself while never letting it get in the way of his goals. And him blaming Dante and Eva and insisting that Dante had an easier life, while I can understand it, just makes him come across as a spoiled brat throwing a tantrum.
Let V’s familiars kill demons without him. That was just really annoying.
And that’s it. My dreams for Devil May Cry 5 and the reality were two very different things and honestly...I’m afraid I’m growing out of this series.
I’ll still post some content I want to get out, but I’m not sure I’ll be picking up the next one.

Celebrating the dumbest/silliest Robot Masters in each mainline Mega Man Game & Bass.
Not every robot needs to be badass to be worth something. I feel this is an attitude people have when a certain robot isn’t their cup of tea.
Q(?): How dare the goofy looking Toad Man not be as awesome as Quick Man? Toad Man can’t even attack you he just hops into when you shooting at him.
A: Because Toad Man has the unique distinction of having an attack you can’t dodge. You try dodging acid rain. That’s why he’s easy.
I’m not here to crack on the Quick Men of the world and hold up the Toad Men. I just wanna revel in the absolute silliness of Mega Man. Where a Toad Man can exist or Quick Man can have a hilarious in-universe oversight his design.
Because I like my Mega Man silly, and I know when Mega Man knows it’s silly.
Here are my rules:
Only Robot Masters, they have to be selectable on the menu (No Mega Man Killers, Star Droids, Quint, Bass, Wily Wars Bots, Fake Man (sadly), the Dark Men (sadly), Mooks, Duo, Wily Castle bosses, NO DOC ROBOTS, etc.)
I’m not just judging them on their designs or concept. That’s low hanging fruit. Also everyone does that.
I’m also judging them on info we get on based on their game appearances or supplemental material, such as their functions and likes and dislikes.
No Archie or Megamix to deduct/add dumb/silly points from them. (Forgive me if I do accidentally use their tidbits.)
One Robot Master per game, because if I didn’t adhere to this rule and the one above all the MM5 bots would win. (Also this means that Tengu and Astro Man get two chances.)
And that should be it:
READY?
Mega Man 1′s Silliest Robot Master is:
Cut Man!
This was a tough call honestly, Cut Man only really one won by default. Because in-universe, all the MM1 Robots all have their practical use. They’re made for a reason. Bomb and Guts Man are construction bots, Elec Man manages a power plant. Cut Man is a lumber robot.
But it is a little silly he has the scissors on his head. He’s how supposed to accurately cut down trees? It has no handle to cut with and it’s a boomerang. The rest are all much more straight forward with their powers.
Honorable Mention(s):
Roll (She’s a Robot Master too, and she’s selectable in Marvel vs. Capcom 2 if not the first game, loopholes babey!). She’s silly because of her occasional stint as a joke character.
Time Man. He’s just has has a case of the odd one out. All of the non-Rock and Roll Robot Masters in the first game have and immediate function in society, even Oil Man has that. But Time Man not so much, he doesn’t have much of a use. And granted that’s part of his character. If Powered-Up didn’t have story and dialogue he might’ve taken Cut Man’s spot as the silliest due to being the odd one out.
Mega Man 2′s Silliest Robot Master is:
Bubble Man!
Look... Bubble Man is the easiest target. I didn’t want it to be him. But he’s not as dumb as you may think. I’ll explain in a bit.
I wanna say that I like none the MM2 Robots. They’re all just made to be killing machines. They’re all made with one purpose and that’s to destroy Mega Man. And that’s boring.
Regardless, Bubble Man is an underwater combat robot. That may seem useless against Mega Man. But you gotta remember that Rock is the ultimate goody-two shoes. Plop a Robot Master in an area, order him to attack said area and Mega Man’s on it to stop him. Effectively luring the Blue Bomber to the boss’ home field advantages. And Bubble Man is no different.
Explaining it like that it seems to me that Wily tried viarity in his revenge plan. As Bubble Man makes the water his home his Brothers make their homes in the sky, the forest, the lava sewers, etc.
Really, Bubble Man gets a bad wrap.
Also he gets points because (of what might be Megamix flavor text that) Wily kept laughing at his inability to walk on land. Wily noticed this, laughed at that can he only could jump, and didn’t fix him.
Ergo; Wily, IN HIS REVENGE PLAN!, laughed so hard he didn’t make Bubble Man the best he could be to kill Mega Man.
Honorable Mention(s):
Wood Man and Heat Man (and to a lesser extent Air Man). To me they’re on the same level as Bubble Man, Bubble Man just edges them out by a bit. They’re revenge murder bots, and Wily made one out of wood and the other look like a lighter. Pictured here, man with a sense of humor (or someone who does rush jobs):
Quick Man, because this tidbit may or may not come from Megamix so I couldn’t qualify him, because it may’ve made Quick Man my pick. For you see... Quick Man runs faster then his eyes can process. Meaning he runs against walls. As you can see in Mega Man 2 itself. I love this, Quick Man was supposed to be the rival character to Mega Man, but he might as well be nearsighted.
Mega Man 3′s Silliest Robot Master is:
Gemini Man! !nɒM inimǝӘ
Gemini Man is a narcissist. He likes to check himself out in the mirror. Heck, he doesn’t need to check himself out in the mirror. His power is that he has a holographic clone to do just that. He’s a handsome robot if he did say so himself.
He’s afraid of snakes. That’s all.
I do wanna say, dumbest/silliest doesn’t mean worst. Gemini Man is my favorite of the Mega Man 3. Also what is his function? I imagine Wily and Light didn’t make him for no reason.
Honorable Mention(s):
Top Man, he’s the go-to dumb pick (along with Hard Man). And yes, there’s the question why he’s a top (my guess it was just the two Doctors having fun). But he does have a stated function, he searches for energy. Unlike Gemini Man who seems to be made to look at himself in the mirror.
Magnet Man. He’s the perfect blend of awesome and silly. Mega Man X wishes it could balance it’s tone like that.
Hard Man. This is a token pick.
Mega Man 4′s Silliest Robot Master is:
ACTUALLY, JUST KIDDING IT’S TIE BETWEEN ALL OF Dr. COSSACK’S ROBOT MASTERS!
I can’t pick. Because similarly to Mega Man 1, they were all made with a practical use in mind, and they’re all plausible, leaving only their appearances to judge.
Though out of all these practical bots. Bright Man might not get much use.
Bright Man is designed to explore dark areas, but like... How often does he get to do that? That’s not something I’d give sentience.
There’s also the matter of Bright Man being sorta redundant. Pharaoh Man is already made to explore dark areas, and has the skills to brace any danger. Maybe they work together? Iunno...
If you want, put Bright Man here, this is not a uselessness highlight. Though there’s still the matter he’s a light bulb. That’s plenty silly. Doesn’t change the fact he’ll kick your butt though.
So yeah, I guess Bright Man takes it. Also his Japanese Mega Man & Bass bio his good point is listed as an idea man.
Honorable Mention(s):
NOT Dust Man. If you can/can’t take a sentient vacuum seriously in a world where robots just gratuitously get sentience, that’s your problem.
Mega Man 5′s Silliest Robot Master is:
Stone Man!
Jumps.
Falls apart.
Recollects himself.
Repeat.
I could go into depth. But I won’t.
Please read Mega Man Megamix and it’s sequel Gigamix. No reason why.
Honorable Mention(s):
Wave Man. He’s more or less Bubble Man again. Except he’s more or a terrorism bot then a murder bot. Yes, there is a difference.
Gyro Man, he’s result for Wily’s budget running low. He wasn’t supposed to be a propeller robot. But he ended up as one.
Star Man. This is because of Megamix and Gigamix. But if his Mega Man & Bass bio is anything to go by, he has his Manga counterpart’s personality and I am so on board.
Charge Man. Choo Choo! He’s a steam locomotive, he runs partially on coal, an outdated fuel source. Wily made him to starve basically. Also he’s a train. I can’t hate that.
Crystal Man, he’s is my favorite of this bunch. This guy was made to make Wily money. Crystal Man makes fake crystals, and those fake crystals get sold. If not for that fact, I wouldn’t care.
Mega Man 6′s Silliest Robot Master is:
Flame Man!
Though seriously, another tough call. All of the MM6 Robots are silly, also made for useful purposes (except Tomahawk Man), I couldn’t pick one over the others. This one came down to the Mega Man & Bass bios.
Flame Man’s likes in Japan: Maintaining his mustache
Honorable Mention(s):
Yamato Man’s Japanese Bad Point: Bad with money
Mega Man 7′s Silliest Robot Master is:
No Contest!
Dude, I love Spring Man, no matter how dumb he is. And what really gets me is that some of Mega Man 7′s robots were stolen by Wily (like Freeze and Shade Man), but others were made by him (Slash and Turbo Man). Guess under which category Spring Man falls?
Yep, Wily made this guy himself.
I love this silly concept. I don’t what to tell you. His design may seem impractical, so of course he’s as much a threat as all the other Robot Masters are in this game with the exception of Slash Man. It’s beautiful. They should put him in the robot museum.
Honorable Mention(s):
Junk Man. See Crystal Man’s honorable mention, only with junk and recycling.
Turbo Man. Wily made a Transformer out of an old car because he didn’t have enough parts lying about.
Mega Man 8′s DUMBEST Robot Master is:
Sword Man!
I both like and hate Sword Man. The story behind him is that Wily stole a sword and made Sword Man to be literally attached to that sword.
That sword was too heavy so Wily went the extra mile in making a SWORD BASED ROBOT and gave his torso anti-gravity system. In gameplay that means that he can split his body in two.
Also he’s got the element of fire, he’s the game’s fire robot.
This is needless detail for a robot that just needed to be another Knight Man. Just with a sword. He’s overdesigned and I can’t decide if I like it or not.
Honorable Mention(s):
If not for Sword Man, Search Man would be my pick, here why: He’s got a similar thing going on as Sword Man. He’s a bit over designed, but I like it. Wily thought if he gave Search Man two heads he’d be super smart! But Search Man’s programmed with only has one personality. 2 Heads, 1 Mind. And he can only use one head at the time!
Mega Man & Bass′ Silliest Robot Master is:
Like... D-Do I need to say it? It has to be Pirate Man.
I got nothing to say about him other that I like him. I don’t like Mega Man & Bass much, but I love its Robot Masters. Every single one of them that aren’t Tengu, Cold Man, and Ground Man.
Okay, maybe I do have something to say about Pirate Man, he’s the silliest by default. Sure, Magic Man might look sillier, but Magic Man isn’t a Robot designed to steal. He’s supposed to entertain.
Overall, & Bass is an odd duck, there isn’t too much silly here. Because:
Dynamo Man is a children's tour guide too dangerous to be around for humans.
Magic Man joined the bad guys so he can get attention (Three Laws, his well-defined robotic butt).
Pirate Man’s a literal pirate (Three Laws, his plain robotic butt).
And Burner Man’s a maniac made to destroys forests! WHO DOES THAT!? And that’s not all, he’s told that if he doesn’t burn down a forest everyday, a bomb inside him will explode! THERE’S NO BOMB!!
There isn’t much to the others. But that’s all the screwed up you need.
Rockman & Forte: Mirai Kara no Chōsensha′s Silliest Robot Master is:
Take your pick!
A bullet based robot from an alternate future.
An air conditioner based robot from an alternate future.
A grill based robot from an alternate future.
A Japanese-style monk based robot from an alternate future.
A compass based robot from an alternate future. (Not pictured)
Or two clock based robots from an alternate future.
I can’t be mad at any of these, even if they seem like parodies of what a Robot Master should look like. You can say the same of MM5, 6, and 8.
Mega Man 9′s SeSilliest Robot Master is:
Splash Man!
Mega Man 9 has a similar problem I have with some other games. They all got a purpose in-story even if we don’t really get to see it. 9′s are useful and Splash Woman’s coast guard function is a good one.
I’m here to sadly do a hack writer-y: “Hurrr duurrrr. Sure is silly of them to only have a female Robot Master now!”
Also, people, she’s not the first female Robot Master, Roll is. Plum too if you wanna count her. It’s something they should do more though. Hornet Man was almost Honey Woman or something.
I’m not opposed to it.
Also this robot is allergic to robo-bees. That’s the real reason she’s chosen.
Honorable Mention(s):
Shout-out to the disqualified Fake Man. Nobody ever talks about Fake Man:
Don’t worry, he’s not a real Cop.
Mega Man 10′s Silliest Robot Master is:
Nitro Man!
People have stunt doubles. So why not their vehicles too, right? I love this guy.
I’ve avoided doing this, but I’m gonna quote the Mega Man Wikia here:
“Before contracting Roboenza, Nitro Man was a stunt robot who has appeared in many movies and TV shows. He is fairly bold and would be willing to do whatever stunts he is asked, regardless of the risks and the negative outcomes. Nitro Man is also the president of a robot stunt club, which has sixty members.”
How can you not love that? Plus he’s Transformer!
Protip: his weapon, the Wheel Cutter, may seem like a meh weapon. But hold the shoot button down and hug a wall.
Honorable Mention(s):
Pump Man: he’s an old school pump, it’s hard to beat that.
Strike Man gets dumb points for being sentient, I like him, but he shouldn’t have been a sentient robot.
Sheep Man people hated this guy, now people love him except for his weapon. I always liked him. I wonder why the hate though? Because he’s the first main line animal based Robot Master? Maybe? It was gonna happen eventually. Also he gets disillusioned with everything he does very quickly, he’s my spirit animal.
Mega Man 11′s Silliest Robot Master is:
Tundra Man!
This guy got bored of his job so he modified himself to be and look like an ice-skater. And he’s magnificent, gives Powered Up Elec Man a run for his money in flamboyancy.
I don’t have anything to add. Just look at him, his looks are his substance.
Honorable Mention(s):
Bounce Man, just Bounce Man, here’s another Mega Man Wikia quoting: “[Bounce Man] was originally developed as a crash test robot, but his stretching and bouncing abilities led him to become a fitness instructor at an indoor athletic center/amusement park called Boing-Boing Park, and his colorful body and friendly appearance made him a big hit with kids and adults alike. Despite being repurposed for combat by Dr. Wily and equipped with a Speed Gear, after which he took over Boing-Boing Park, Bounce Man is still the same large, cheerful, childlike robot he always was, still viewing everything as one big game.”
AND THAT’S ALL!
Thank you for putting up with this post if you got this far.
These are all my opinion, none of this is fact. And certainly not calling any of them bad, I’m not decrying them.
I just grew up on Top 10 videos where Mega Man, even the innocent Classic series was serious business. Something I was reminded of earlier today.
I get that Mega Man was gone for a while and everyone was in memorial mode(, and admittedly I forgot I was a fan of this series during the time Mighty No. 9 seemed like the savior), absolutely idolizing everything Mega Man.
But even before all of that Mega Man was something of a sacred cow, on the internet (mostly Mega Man 2). And it was all so serious business to a lot of people, and I didn’t like it was so serious business. From both people who know the lore and who don’t.
I just kinda wanted to express that I like that Mega Man Classic is silly and that’s okay. And it’s also okay to realize that every Mega Man game is silly on the surface of it, whether the games realize it or not. (I will say some games are better at pulling it off.)
I have no real point that’s not scatterbrained. I sacrificed sleep for this.

Five questions for writers
I was tagged by the amazing @defaultjane I couldn’t provide a cool mug, but I can provide this lol
1. Do you have a favorite character to write? Who and why? Yes. Claire Redfield. I think I feel somehow related to her because we are both big messes. We try and fail, try again (fail again), over and over. She saved a girl one night but left her with… ugh… Leon Kennedy (we know how that ended if Capcom doesn’t ruin their own canon). She went to Europe to find her brother and ended up on an island and needed to be rescued herself (FAIL!). She and her coworkers were abducted to another island and most of them died and she tried to kill the big baddie but the big baddie committed suicide in front of her eyes (OOOPS!). Yeah, my life isn’t that tragic, but that’s basically me. A bunch of good intentions and bad choices with worse outcome -shrugs-
2. Do you have a favorite trope to write? Or one you want to write?
No, but one thing I accidentally slide into my works repeatedly is Claire drowning her sorrows in alcohol and having sex with her best friend/her brother’s coworker/her brother’s coworker again. It happens too often, but it just works lol
3. Share your favorite description you’ve written?
Desc… wha?
I’ll just pick a random part from Family Portrait because it’s what my screen currently shows, lol
Her throat was sore from screaming his name when she finally found her brother standing on top of the cliff next to the mansion, glaring down into the abyss that had swallowed both his archenemy and the love of his life. He wasn't moving, bravely resisting the cold European breeze that whistled over the treetops and made them swing softly in the light of the setting sun. If you blinked too quickly, for a moment, you could have believed that he was going to jump after them as well, but Claire knew that he wouldn't just give up on life and leave her alone in the world. Not after all he had done to keep her safe.
4. Share your favorite dialogue you’ve written?
I have so many, but as I’m currently working on Family Portrait, I’ll pick this one between Jill and Claire. Short summary: 1997, Claire, with some bad romantic feelings for her brother, has been seeing Wesker secretly because […] and one night she comes home late and finds Jill in her kitchen (she has been living with the Redfields because her apartment block burnt down).
When she turned into the kitchen, something shattered to the ground.
"Claire, oh. I'm sorry." It was Jill who was standing there in the darkness of the night, with tousled hair and an oversized pajama shirt — Chris' shirt, as Claire didn't fail to notice. The woman pressed her palm onto her chest as she panted at the redhead. "I didn't hear you come down the..." She stopped speaking and looked at Claire. "Stairs." She frowned. "Did you go out?"
The initial anger over Jill wearing Chris' pajamas was soon blown away, leaving her stuttering all kinds of nonsense, busy thinking of a good excuse she could tell Valentine. Kelly, maybe. Yes, she could have been studying with Kelly until —her eyes darted to the kitchen clock— 1 am.
"Were you with a boy?" Jill smirked smugly at her before she bent down to remove the shards of the glass she'd dropped. When she got up, she seemed to reconsider and frowned a bit. "Or a girl?"
Claire sucked in a breath and shook her head eagerly.
"I..." She sighed. "A boy." What a weird word for a creepy S.T.A.R.S. Captain in his late thirties. Claire licked her lips and narrowed her eyes at Jill, asking for complicity. "Don't tell Chris, please."
The older woman chuckled.
"I won't. You're old enough." She quirked an eyebrow and pouted a bit. "But I assume you're using protection, aren't you?"
Claire coughed up a little. That conversation was not only getting displeasing, it was ridiculous as well. She was a grown-up; there was no need to give her the sex talk. Just to finish off the subject as soon as possible, she nodded, eye-rolling, and put on a smile.
"Yes, we are."
Jill kept smiling at her and shrugged.
"Sorry," she muttered as she looked down. "I don't want to make you feel uncomfortable, but I don't have any family and I always wanted to have a sister to talk to."
Claire blinked at the brunette and felt a little sorry for her. Chris had told her that Jill's father, the only family she had, was in jail. She had never known what it meant to be a sibling and she was, strictly considering it, alone in the world. Claire forced a smile and shook her head.
"It's okay," she said and leaned onto the counter. "Just, please, promise that Chris won't find out. He wouldn't approve."
Jill stretched her little finger out.
"I pinky swear."
Claire giggled slyly and hooked her finger into Jill's, sealing their deal.
"Thank you."
5. A scene you haven’t written, but want to?
I change the question: A scene you regret not having written? Because I have a lot of upcoming scenes I still want to write but admitting that here would mean spoilers lol However, I missed adding a huge Claire-Piers smut scene to A Third Chance thinking that I would get the chance to do another one later, but I recently changed the whole plot and planning and now there’s no room for more smut and it makes me really sad T_T
I can already hear her say I hate it, thanks, but I tag @irithyll-writes anyway <3

Shipping ask! 18. 26. 10. 12. 6.
THANKS!
6. Do you have a certain kind of ship you’re more attracted to?
I’m definitely a slut for friends-to-lovers dynamics. Like if the ship has the characters showing the audience they have a close bond with each other and unconditionally love and support each other I’m automatically hooked.
10. Do characters have to have canon interactions for you to ship them?
Usually. I don’t really like shipping characters just to ship them. I need proof that they could work in canon.
Though I dabble in crack ships, but they’re always for the lulz until I realize I for real ship them...
12. What drives you away from a ship?
Abusive and unhealthy elements. If Character A in is a dick to B (but B still loves them because...idk plot) then chances are I’m gonna run in the exact opposite direction of this ship.
It’s why I hardly ever ship enemies-to-lovers unless there’s some hardcore redemption going on in the background.
18. What is your favorite unpopular ship?
Probably Davis x Kari from Digimon 02. Like, 3 people and a shoelace ship them lmao
I also love Keith x Allura from VLD because they could have worked I swear! And Simon x Maya from Ace Attorney (a crack ship but a crack ship that makes sense IF THEY WOULD JUST MEET IN CANON IT WOULD BE SO BEAUTIFUL GOSH DANGIT CAPCOM)
26. What are your favorite shipping scenes?
Are we talking specific ones? Because I’m gonna talk about specific ones:
Remember when Lucy was sick and Natsu uprooted an entire fucking Rainbow Sakura for her to see it because she was looking forward to it? I do. Every single gosh dang day. That’s the good shit!
And remember when Edward stopped Winry from killing Scar and softly told her her hands were meant to give life? Just fuck me up.
And remember in Soul Eater, during the Clown Arc when Soul was resonating with Maka and he softly touched her cheek when it was covered in that clown mask? Oh man my heart! (FUCK YOU ANIME YOU COULD HAVE ANIMATED THAT BUT YOU ONLY HAD ONE SEASON ORDERED WHERE’S MY SOUL EATER BROTHERHOOD BONES????)
And of course any time Marinette and Adrien are one screen together just expect my fangirl screams to sound off in the distance

DMC Reboot Tangent
I’m not gonna rant so much as just jot down my impression after playing the Definitive Edition. I was curious to see what I thought after all this time and redo the reboot tangents I had before as one. So let’s begin~
Characterization
As always this is my largest complaint. I dont give a damn about Dante’s white hair or meth look, Vergils hat, etc. What annoys me is Dante cursing like a 12yr old, Vergil and that hostage scene, and I’m really confused about Mundus.
He’s immortal, has vast power, he has no real reason to rule men though capitalism. It makes the whole story a bit pretentious with the “fight the man” message.
Admittedly I prefer the sillier classic Dante but I wouldn’t have minded this one if his dialogue was better. Reduce the cursing and I’ll buy his growth arc better. I dont think there’s any redeeming Vergil with that hostage scene though.
I have no opinion on Kat. I probably would’ve killed her off mid way through. After which, her spirit helps the twins take down Mundus. She only truly dies after Limbo collapses since her soul has nowhere to linger.
A side note: I do know Capcom pressed Ninja Theory for further change. I also think some of the concept art for when the game was “closer” to the Classic series is good.
Gameplay
The Definitive Edition did a lot in this area but it did have some further tweaks I wanted. Namely, the full removal of colored enemies. It’s better now but them existing at all sucks. It’s the on true flaw in the game that many of us can agree on.
I also wish the O button had better uses. Making it exclusive for High Time (throwing enemies up) felt like a waste to me. I know this is done to make combat a bit easier for people but the controls feel like they have a bit much going on. It could’ve really used that O button free.
Another issue I have when playing is the modes. I dont really think they need removing, all I wish is that you changed modes with a press. Holding down the buttons is hard after a while. Especially when you’re trying to use dodge.
So I wish it was an option to make the modes like Classic weapons. You press once to change, once again to change back. You can toggle holding Lock-On so I wish that option existed for the Angel/Demon modes.
Lore
I’ll man up and admit I do like this Angel-Demon-Nephilim lore. I care more about Dante’s character than whether he’s human. If anything, this game would’ve been a prime chance to give Dante the route of Classic Sparda.
A supernatural being that “woke to justice” and chose to stand with mankind. That could’ve been Dante in this universe. He doesn’t need to be half human himself.
I do have on slight gripe about the Nephilim concept. I like the idea of Nephilim and older ones existing but I have issue with them being a race in full at one point. This is because I find it hard to believe a race of such potential was wiped out by demons when the hybrid is supposed to be superior.
And you could argue Mundus’ power and the sheer number of demons might pull it off but then I fall back on the Nephilims power to traverse worlds. They weren’t limited in that regard, even if out numbered they would’ve been well capable of fleeing given the context of this lore.
That said, the idea of Assiel, or former Nephilim I can get down with. Rare beings born only on occasion but exceedingly dangerous and powerful when they are. That alone would give someone like Mundus reason to worry.
Especially if a higher demon like Sparda spawned one.
Another thing that was pointed out to me is that Sparda doesn’t really do anything in this universe. I find this a bit of a shame. So instead of his crime being he slept with an angel I’d take the AU approach.
I’d say this is the universe where Sparda rebelled but lost.
Think about it. Sparda meets Eva, falls in love, begins to feel conflict over Mundus control on humanity. So Sparda and Eva found the Order (later led by Vergil) and stage a rebellion only for them to fail.
So in this way the actions of Mundus feel more logical. Not only did Sparda betray him, not only did Sparda rebel, but he slept with an angel and spawned a Nephilim. A hybrid many demons fear.
It’s only a slight change to the backstory but it makes it feel like Sparda had a legitimate crime. He would’ve been a traitor in many aspects.
Summary
I thought I had more to say but once I got started I didn’t and that’s a good thing imo. I find gameplay fun but I wish the mode changes were press instead of hold. Alternatively I wish the abilities were placed better. (angel for movement, demon for combat)
I didn’t bring up the Devil Trigger since the Definitive Edition’s Hardcore mode fixes it’s easy win use but I do still wish Dante actually became a demon. It’s a minor gripe really but something I’d want in a sequel. Less press to win and more raw demonic power and form.
I feel the dialogue is horrendous but the lore and world is interesting and I’d be welcome to expansions of it. Especially when the game ends with Limbo gone and demons exposed to humanity.
The one thing I find truly horrible and just chose not to rant or relive was Vergil and that one scene. (you know the one)
Would I prefer this over the classic series? No but, if they ever returned to it I’d try a sequel. I’d rather the Classic Series reach a conclusion first.
Vergil’s Downfall
It didn’t really change my feelings of the reboot as a whole but in terms of gameplay I think Vergil had some things better. Things I wish was common for both twins.
Most relevant of them was the demon/angel pull. Vergil’s is far snappier. I wish both twins had this version of the skill. Classic Dante had Trickster which was akin to a weaker Darkslayer that Vergil had, both could teleport.
So it’d make sense in the reboot world if both twins at least had this in common. Vergil would just be different in the sense he can teleport more freely due to his unique gameplay style.
I also felt Verigl benefited form having one weapon. This made mode change less of a pain. It reinforces my wish the mode/weapons was closer to classic DMC in use. You press a button once to swap, all weapons (and this case modes) being viable.
Locking pathways or enemies behind specific things was foolish to begin with and the DLC largely avoided that.
Vergil, like Dante, has a disappointing DT imo with Vergil’s not healing at all. In contrast to Dante, Vergil at least makes use of the DT gauge more which is reminiscent of the classic series. Various skills or items would make use of DT.
I do still wish the O button was freed up instead of skills being tied to it but I covered that above. I dont really have much to add about gameplay. The DLC just reaffirmed my feelings because the lack of weapons and clutter benefited Vergil.
If they go for a sequel in the future I hope they make modes press to switch, free of the O button, or at least tie skills TO weapons of which you swap out with L2/R2.
Just free up the button clutter please.
In terms of story? I honestly found it hard to be invested. I wouldn’t consider it bad since this dlc gave a good progression of reboot Vergil becoming what I assume is reboot Nelo Angelo.
Any character complaints are tied to Dante’s story, like the hostage scene. I still would have preferred the brothers remain allies since the whole battle was out of nowhere and Vergil being evil is clearly just there cause of the Classic series.
Also, no, I’m not gonna complain about the comic style scenes. Some do but I dont mind that. I do think his costumes are hilarious though, especially when the camera zooms in on “classic” Vergil and you can clearly see his scalp. lmao
Anyway, that’s all I can muster. DLC didn’t do enough to alter previous opinions.
