My sister came out as bi to my mom and while our parents aren't homophobic they also don't have a lot of exposure to things. So Cara was disappointed in her skeptical reaction, but this isn't even the first time this month that Cara has called me in tears about Mom not taking her feelings seriously.

Funnily enough I think my mom and I are on the same page in some ways about that kind of stuff. She doesn't know anything about my sexuality or dating life. She has never asked and she doesn't want to know. Which is great for me! I don't want to tell her!

Cara, though, is warm and open and just redownloaded hinge for the first time in a while and wanted to share her life with her mom and it's sad the feeling wasn't mutual.

#Mom has the hardest time of anyone I know of being empathetic about situations she can't personally relate to #she's never been depressed for example so my whole adult life has been very frustrating for her to witness because she doesn't get it #she comes around to a place of understanding after a lonnnnnnnng time but it takes a lot of work to get there #so it looks like I will have to have some conversations with her soon about all this which as I mentioned I would rather not #but I can probably convince her to be kinder and it'd probably be worth it #she does listen to me sometimes when it comes to Cara because I know Cara so well #Imagine if I'd had a big sister sticking up for me when I was going through rough stuff with mom and dad #probably wouldn't have changed things in the long run but might have made some stuff easier #Wish Cara had given me a heads up I could have prepped Mom ahead of time but I can't soften every blow
