I think it’s a testament to how well strange new worlds captures the tone of the original series that despite me watching Star Trek for almost a month now, it wasn’t until this series that she was so caught up in the Silly Moment within an episode that she asked the kid she takes care of to keep his voice down

#personal #she also saw current Spock’s actor and was like ‘is that Spock’s son’ 😭😭😭 noooo that’s him himself #But I get it ykno like enterprise was trying to do its own thing and sort of distance itself from Star trek #And discovery (esp the 1st season) is apparently darker #(which I haven’t seen ds9 but that’s what I got from what I’ve seen of that so if discover is somehow darker then I’m intrigued where exact #exactly* ds9 falls on the dark/serious/mature spectrum as well as episodic vs serialized)#Anyways the moment caught me off guard bc I was enjoying the show too and the kid was partly talking to me and partly singing to himself #So I was like half paying attention to him bc I was watching the show of course #And suddenly I hear my mom asking him to keep it down and I turn over and she’s standing in the kitchen in front of the sink #But just standing there facing the tv with a smile on her face it was really cute actually #It was the scene where they were checking off the bingo sheet to ‘try to figure it out/understand what it’s all about’ btw
