Me: *starts explain a bunch of canon lore for DC*
My mom: "Holy shit. None of that happened in the (live-action) Batman movies."
Me: "Exactly!"
~10 minutes later~
Me: "And then this wild thing happened!"
My mom: "Of course it did 😑"

did you ppl calling rockwild shippers delusional or wearing "shipper goggles"? do you ship them, and what do you think about the kiss?
I have not, so I suppose that means I follow kind people. The delusional insult is always rude AF to me, but it's common in any fandom. I've been in DC and Marvel fandoms for many years. Yikes! As someone who likes all 3 campaigns, I never understand the competitiveness between ships/story lines. They're different stories with their own messy chapters. People are allowed to like or dislike something if they so choose. Doesn't mean you need to throw other ship and/or other character under the bus.
The shipper goggles thing is funny. Just because someone is a shipper and I most definitely am, doesn't mean we can't see the value of story telling or the value in characters as individual people. I'm an editor and a writer. You got to see the forest for the trees, but also know where your landmarks are. Meaning understand the grander scheme while also pruning/tending to elements that help your story progress.
Of course I still ship Callowmoore/Rockwild. The kiss was fun and tbh, I was waiting it. Those who claim "Fearne didn't have to process./ [gasp] Fearne was manipulated" After she says, "Well, now I don't know if I wanna put this in there." It's surface level, but that little bit of inner conflict of "Oh! I did like that, but I also made them a promise." Is that not at least the start of processing? Ashley said on 4-Sided Dive and in game as Fearne, "The shard should go to Ashton" /paraphrase. She may not have understood the effects. Neither did Ashton, but they had a plan -- albeit a costly and not so smart, but they knew.
IMO, The kiss response from Ashton was what I figured from a character who has a charisma of 6. It's messy and imperfect, but that's true to character story telling.
@i-am-shitpost brought up several good points about was "Last one you'll fucking get" (paraphrase) a thought for themself. (x)
Also very common for Taliesin characters I suppose. If you love Perc'ahlia you know.
That said, Ashton owes Fearne, FCG and Bell's Hells as a whole an apology. I hope that when they do, they carry that lesson and continue figuring who they want to be.
I just keep picturing Fearne picking up FCG to be at Ash's height when they both give him shit. And Fearne walks away with FCG in search for some Courage or Green Tier whiskey within Whitestone.

Sorry another zoomer anon about comics
Actually I was referring to new 52 about batgirl and Starfire. Did you know new 52 stated that Starfire don’t remember people names unless she had sex with them?
Obviously that was ignored and retcon to hell and back. But comic writers, there a difference between being a sexual liberating woman vs being a hentai slut
Also about a year ago iirc, the old head of DC Dan Didio (who responsible for the mess that was new 52 and 2010’s shit) said that comics lost a generation of heroes because mines wasn’t interested in superheroes…during the height of the MCU
Pssst Didio let me tell you something, there something called the internet so my generation can look up the history of dc and marvel comics.
We are not getting emotionally invested in comics who are handle by fuckers with the mentality of a ten year old
So we went to manga and hmm, what that popular shounen?
MY FUCKING HERO ACADEMIA! YOU DIDN’T LOSE A GENERATION OF READERS BECAUSE THEY WEREN’T INTERESTED IN SUPERHEROES! YOU LOST THEM BECAUSE WE CAN SMELL SHITTY COMICS LIKE HOW A BLOODHOUND SMELLS PISS!!
Ugh, how…out of touch these fuckers are?
Also you guys made it damn near impossible to get easy access to comics so manga is far easier to get. Obviously you can….but a comic shop is a huge luxury item
Sorry for this essay rant, and I only been into comics for ten fucking years
Pssst Didio let me tell you something, there something called the internet so my generation can look up the history of dc and marvel comics.
OMG YES. THIS. FUCK.
Sorry, about to hijack this ask to go on a rant but my God I fucking hate this idea that people can only ever be interested in things that they experience in real time. It's such bullshit. Do you know what I wasn't alive for? The original run of Spider-Man written by Stan Lee. You know what my favorite Spider-Man stories are? The original run of Spider-Man written by Stan Lee. I got into Spider-Man because of the 90s animated series on Fox Kids. From there, I got a few of the comics that were running at the time, and from there I found the Marvel Masterworks collections and absolutely devoured the older stories. And even for books I didn't really have much interest in like Captain America or Iron Man, I would get Marvel Encyclopedias and learn about the pasts and presents of all the comic characters, even some I'd never heard of. True fans will always seek out the past of the things they love. You think people who fell in love with the Lord of the Rings movies aren't devouring The Silmarillion? You think the kid whose first Star Wars experience is seeing The Mandalorian isn't going back and watching the original trilogy? You think someone whose only experience with Batman is the Nolan Trilogy isn't going to find and absolutely love Frank Miller's Batman Year One? Of course they are. True fans don't have blinders. True fans will educate themselves on the things they love.
You know who won't, though? You know who just consumes the things that are put in front of them and will never go beyond that, either through laziness or because they don't want to see anything that's "old" or "out of touch"?
Tourists.
Tourists are great during tourist season, but very few come back every year. And in the off-season, it's the locals who keep the place running. You can't always depend on tourists. They'll happily move onto the next big tourist destination at the drop of a hat. But the locals, the true fans? They'll always be there. They'll be buying books, buying merch, going to the movies, generating enthusiasm, organizing conventions, and everything else that comes along with being a true fan. The only things that will drive them away are when the people in charge of the things they love attack them personally or change the things they love into something unrecognizable. And even then, most will still love the thing as it used to be. The fans who hate Rings of Power didn't throw out their Lord of the Rings Extended Edition blu-ray collections. The fans who hate Disney Star Wars didn't smash their original VHS copies of the unaltered original trilogy. And true fans aren't just old fans or original fans. The thing about being a local is that anyone can move into town. And if they stay long enough and fit into the local culture, everyone else will embrace them.
So fuck Didio and everyone else who thinks tourists are the only group that matters. Fuck everyone who thinks that "modern audiences" can't love something from a different era with different stories and different characters from what everyone else is shitting out today. It's bullshit, and it always has been.

I don't super go to linked universe (it's fine there's just A Lot of it and Almost Nothing in this fandom Isn't some kind of Linked Universe at this point) but I do wanna add to this, cause there actually is a hint at Hylias name and her relation to the Master Sword in A Link to the Past but if anything it proves that that Link would have no fucking clue who Hylia is nor would he have beef with her.
It's at the beginning and kinda easy to miss but one of the characters (I'm like 80% it's Sahasrala but it could also have been his wife) tells Link that the Master Sword is, like, this super powerful sword that was totally created by the people who used to live in Hyrule before the Hylians... A civilization called the Hylia.
Now, Hylia the character did not exist and definitely wasn't even a twinkle in Nintendos eye when alttp was made. This is the franchise that solved the "multiple writers across multiple decades who all want to write different stories" thing by basically doing the opposite of whatever DC and Marvel were doing with their classic franchises and completely ignoring the timeline even after they caved and actually made one. But even if you are looking at that scene in a post skyward sword context and applying the knowledge that Hylia the character is meant to have canonically existed prior to humans evolving according to Nintendo, I personally don't see how anyone could read that line of dialogue and come to any conclusion other than "by the time A Link to the Past happens, no one in Hyrule has any goddamn clue who the fuck Hylia is or what she did"
Because "the Hylia created the Master Sword" is actually a pretty reasonable drift from "the goddess Hylia created the Master Sword" and no, the franchise that has literally never made two games with an 80% seamless continuity between them did not secretly have Hylia in their back pocket while they were making A Link to the Past, a game that was made during the early days of Zelda when Link was still canonically worshipping The Actual Fucking Christian God there is concept art about this.
And these things happen! We can look at real world religions and see it happening! Gods get imported and exported, come into and out of popularity, even the specifics change from time to time (look up early Christian heresies you'll be REAL surprised by what you find)! And it's really fun that they introduced a wildly important character to one of nintendos biggest franchises after multiple games where she straight up doesn't exist because no one had thought of her yet, claim that she's actually been every single Zelda, and have it still work because Hyrule can't even directly remember the Triforce exists half the time so it makes sense they wouldn't always remember who Hylia is so they completely sidestep what would otherwise be a massive wasted opportunity by just not using Hylia if she doesn't fit the vibe (a link between worlds didn't have any mention of Hylia at all and that came out well after skyward sword)!
So that version of Link has zero reason to be mad at Hylia. If he's mad at any deity it would be literally the christian god there is literally a regular ass christian church in that game that is a key location.
Disclaimer: I don't super care, on like a personal level, if you have religious trauma and want to use your blorbos to work through it in a fandom setting I just like analyzing things and I like Hylia and I think ignoring what's actually in these games diminishes the impact of actual smart writing decisions that the devs make sometimes when it comes to continuity across different games, because usually they don't care about that sort of thing which is their prerogative but it's nice to see stuff working when they do decide to care. (I also think LU legend having beef with Literally The Real World Religious Figure Jesus Christ is a way funnier concept than whatever's going on with Hylia but I do want to emphasize that I am joking about that and generally Christian imagery in the early zeldas should be regarded with the same sincerity as the Christian imagery in neon genesis evangelion, which is to say have fun but it's literally just there to look cool and foreign for a Japanese audience, like how the Homunculi in FMA have English names in the original Japanese script but when it got translated they got Latin epithets)
Okay you know what actually yeah. I was tired but I had a point.
Why. On earth. In zelda fics. Do people not shut up about everything being hylia's fault forever and ever.
Like, the one deity out of a dozen odd who got cursed into this right alongside Link. All the focus on one great all being power who then gets blamed or blessed for everything that ever happens. It's just... I don't know, it just seems like a culturally Christian thing. Not even that - American catholic.
Especially Legend omg when people write him he never shuts up about how everything bad that's ever happened to him is all hylia's fault and she's doing it on purpose with no thought to her poor beleagured hero. He sounds like someone who grew up in an American conservative household who turned out to be queer and never bothered to unpack any of it and acts like he's now atheist.
But even then you could do something interesting with that!! The common headcanon that Legend is hylian royalty - of course that family would put immense worth and worship on hylia as her descendants, she who founded their kingdom. And maybe legend could feel bitter about not inheriting the magic, or the throne, or whatever meant he grew up away from the castle. Give him some unexamined religious trauma! Heck, he could bond with Flora over disappointing your family's expectations or something! They could work on unpacking it together! If you must make it part of his character at least think about why!
Because that belief is wrong, because hylia is literally the one deity we can pretty safely understand is not all seeing, all knowing, all being.
Every time she has a voice, a role, we see her make mistakes or be tricked and have regrets.
Skyward sword, she's literally zelda. She's a young protective warrior goddess (she used a sword and lead armies to battle against demise) who was created by the Three to guard the triforce and keep watch over hyrules lands. By the time ss starts she's already made several tough calls, not limited to yoinking hylians into the sky. When she was zelda she hated every second of leading Link around and even then!! It all hinged on him being completely willing! He was never forced to do anything, she didn't even have her memories with the plan until after she'd fallen to the surface! Their relationship was entirely genuine and she very nearly overestimated her own willingness to go through with the plan! And even then she still managed to get kidnapped lmao. That's not what happens when you're in charge of fate.
And in botw and totk - she's in her full divine form, her full divine powers, she's ancient and magic and worshipped in every corner of the kingdom. And (spoilers!) she loses contact with one of her own mf statues. Not just any ten apples high chibi statue you see in the towns, no, it's The Big One. She's got no idea what happened to it, but she's (rightfully) worried, and asks Link to check it out. And in an entirely separate instance, her OTHER big statue in the ToT gets overridden!! By a triangle head! And ol creep in the deep is the one who releases the statue! It's been what 20k years of power and worship - if she's not all powerful then she never will be.
Hyrule - every hyrule - is very, very polytheistic. She's not even a goddess of time to be in charge of stuff like that! There's multiple of them: Naryu, Cia (and Lana), Farosh to an extent, and many artifacts that can cause time travel, like the harp of ages, the ocarina, the big portal in ss, those time shift stones in the same game, the statue in wind waker. Please stop treating her like the magic elf equivalent of Monotheistic American Christianity God.
She was introduced in skyward sword. The game that came out before botw. She did not exist in any of the games that came before that. There was a lake hylia! In the kingdom hyrule! That's it! Her name or even existence wasn't even hinted at before that. It's actually canonically pretty unlikely any of the chain (cough cough legend) have even heard of her! And her assigned job is protector of the triforce. That's it. And she can't even use the thing. She can very explicitly as a main driving force of the ss plot not use the triforce she protects. And the triforce, shockingly, is not even in every game.
Cases that hylia often gets the most flack for (links awakening and all the trauma from that, Link failing in botw, the events of totk) hylia has absolutely zero part in. Hilariously. And she has zero power over wishes made to the triforce or who makes those wishes or what the triforce does about it.
She even gets all the blame for the cycle of the hero, the reincarnation! Which? We know exactly how that happened. Blaming her for a curse she herself is a victim to?? Demise, in skyward sword, explicitly, on screen, doing it ON PURPOSE, cursing the spirit of the hero and the blood of the goddess.
Hylia, I don't know if you've noticed, also has her own blood. Whether or not she lost that blood upon return to her divine form, she still couldn't break the curse. Link, spirit now tied to whatever demise had cooking up, is basically to reincarnate in time for whenever the Interesting Times happen. And it's demise's fault, who, again, did it on screen, on purpose, explicitly, pointing at the camera with text bolded and everything.
So why do people even blame her? I think it comes down to this:
Her name matches the kingdom. Whatever her connection to the people with the same name, I don't know, but she did found the surface kingdom as a mortal. Being named zelda at the time I wonder who chose the name XD!
Her worship in botk as a high ranking deity. Again, not monotheistic, there's temples to the Three and there's Malanya and Satori and the great fairies and the yiga worship ganon, but hylia is the most widespread for all she's basically a side character working for the new heart piece situation. Again, this is only the case in ss/botk, she doesn't appear in even aoc.
A misguided belief spread in fanfiction that in linked universe, hylia is the one opening and controlling the portals. To my knowledge, lu canon is that the portals are opened by dark link, or at least that's the working theory. I think it's assumed that hylia is the one who gathered the heroes together to combat it? If that's true? Congratulations! We have one (very plot necessary) act of hers in a fan comic. That is not canon to The Legend Of Zelda series.
An american Christian (I hesitate to say evangelican?) cultural understanding of religion. The differences between polytheism and monotheism. How one might feel if the divine was proven real on earth. Zelda is a Japanese property, it is not a Christian country. Though it draws aesthetic inspiration from western medieval fantasy it is not and never will be culturally western. The majority of ao3/tumblr users are American or at least English speaking, and that will always affect interpretation. It's giving 'be thankful to God no matter what for he always has a plan. Trust in him and your suffering will be rewarded' which is not a universal religious belief.
Something I've noticed to be surprisingly common in fandom, is where a mentor or figure of authority who is anything less than perfect or all forgiving can very quickly have their reputation ripped to shreds by the fandom. And then newer authors come, read those works, internalise that about the characters and produce new works that assume that character's cruelty to be par for the course. I will not be listing those characters or fandoms for a variety of reasons lol. But it is amazingly common and very hard to untangle, especially in larger fandoms. It's character bashing in a way near identical to cancelling people irl. It's not 'giving them depth' or 'making it more realistic' (grittier equalling realism is an ice cold take proliferated by dudebro comic authors and wrong besides.) Have some critical thinking.
Lately, I've also been running into a great many fics (not so much comics) that make hylia do some fairly heinous stuff... And then unironically blame her for it. They do remember they're the ones deciding what the characters do, right? She's not an abusive master playing with her puppets until they break, she's quite the opposite! Use the right tags (dark hylia/ooc characters/character bashing/author made them do it, idk) or dial it back. This is a growing percentage of fics and I'll never restrict content but yanno, if you're going to make hylia evil or manipulative at least understand it's a canon deviation (and do something interesting with it, I once read an amazing botw fic with evil hylia and fierce deity!).
TLDR, To summarise, hylia is canonically incapable both emotionally and physically of doing the majority of things characters in fics blame her for. Stop using her as a scapegoat especially when demise is right there. Please give your whumpees deeper characterisation than hating on hylia. Please give legend deeper characterisation than hating on hylia every time he or someone else is sad. Please remember wild can talk to hylia if he wants. Please double check anything you're not sure about :D!

Aight, I wanna talk about Titans.
1. I was mad at first, with this season, because it seemed like they were not going to do Dick/Starfire which is a very canon pairing, usually, and I was like "Is it because Anna is Black"? But then they were doing Blackfire with Superboy (obviously Blackfire is Starfire's sister, so she's Black, too, and Suberboy is also white on the series.) So, I was confused why they were avoiding Dick/Starfire, especially because it's s3 and you know... like time for them to get into the main relationships, already. And they had done a little bit with Dick and Kory in s1, but it was mostly just them fucking each other, and with little to no actual affection behind it. BUT THEN! Dick died and Rachel and Gar put him in the Lazarus pit. And in the Lazarus pit he was seeing his fears, but once he realized that wasn't what he wanted, and he had more to do in the land of the living, he saw his daughter. And she was a dark skinned Black baby, like Anna. And, y'all, I don't DC as much as I Marvel, so I don't know all the little minute details of these characters' lives, but fans were saying that she is Kory and Dick's daughter Mar'i. So, like!!! Dick & Kory confirmed for the future??? But also, like... can they go ahead and get that shit started? Because TV shows end...
2. Y'all, I'm really happy/excited about Tim Drake, but I feel like they made him a little TOO weak/scared, this season? I get what they're going for. He's just a regular kid who wants to do more. Wants to help save his city. I mean, who could blame him, living in Gotham. Like, yikes. But also??? It's hard to even see the hero in him. Like, from a writing and directing standpoint, I feel like they missed the "it factor" that makes a character a hero, even when they're weak or scared. They really tried to give it to him, by introducing his like... computers/research hub. And by giving him exactly 1 flying kick in that fight, and letting him punch Crane. But also the actor is giving "I'm awkward and terrified" in his performance, and I think I'd want to see a little more tenacity. Something that shows "yeah, this kid could be a Robin, with a little training." Also, like... after he punched Crane, he overreacted to how much it hurt his hand. LIke... you guys... I did martial arts growing up. Punching someone hard hurts. But it's not THAT bad unless your form is really bad. But his wasn't? It was a fine punch. And they were like "yeah, he totally learned some martial arts moves from YouTube." Which was also kind of stupid. He's a kid in Gotham. You know how many people put their kids in karate or taekwondo growing up? Literally just a little while back, I just said I TOOK MARTIAL ARTS AS A KID. Just say he had karate class or whatever. It's GOTHAM. I'm sure there's a huge market for self-defense classes for kids. Like? I saw nothing in the season that made me think "Oh, yeah. He's a Robin in the making." There should have been more there, narratively, that makes you go "Yeah, him next." Not at all that he should have been skilled or trained like Jason and Dick. Like, we understand the difference between the average kid and a Robin. But, like... again, he's FROM GOTHAM. Which is at best New York City, and at worst the very worst things about New York City. You're telling me this kid from Gotham OBSESSED with real-life superheroes never once took a karate class, or even got in a fight enough to know how to punch a weakling in the jaw (and yes, CRANE IS A WEAKLING) without going "owwie!"? Like, he should have at least had a bit of an inkling of "he could be a hero!"
And I say this because... I really like Tim Drake, as a character (outside of Titans) and I was excited for this version of him. And I know people probably are shit talking him because of how much of a punk they made him this season. Also, he literally just came out as bi in the comics, and basically they made the one queer character a scared little boy who can't throw a punch. Feels weird, to me. IDK. I know the comics division and the TV division don't necessarily coordinate storylines, but it was just a weird ... coincidence to make this character bi in the comics at the same time as you make him... kind of lame and weak on TV. I'm hoping they make him cooler next season, and less of a "scared kid" trope.
Also, I'm being nice to the actor because IDK anything about him or his career. But maybe it's just his performance? Bless it.

Marvel Time Travel Fanfiction Rec
I've always loved anything about time travel, and I've been reading time travel fics for as long as I've been into fanfiction. Which was one of the reasons I loved Endgame so much was because it took time travel and put a whole new spin on it. So here are some of my favorite time travel fanfictions. Some you may recognize from my other recs, but there are quite a few new ones here.
To a Memory Now I Can't Recall
By: Etharei
http://archiveofourown.org/works/2660255/chapters/5945588
Summary: While on a mission storming a HYDRA facility, James Buchanan Barnes touches one of the many strange alien devices collected by the Red Skull. He does this, in fact, twice; once in the past, and once in the future. Next thing he knows, Bucky Barnes is opening his eyes in the 21st century, which is full of great gadgets and coffee, and at least includes his old pal Steve, (and, inexplicably, a different Stark). Meanwhile, the Winter Soldier finds himself in the middle of WW2, helping Captain America hunt down HYDRA (which is at least familiar), pretending to be Bucky Barnes (which is not), and figuring out the very noisy group of soldiers who call themselves the Howling Commandos.
My Comments: This my all-time-favorite Avengers fic!!!! (PS: It is a Stucky fic). This fic takes Bucky Barnes and really fleshes it out how the Winter Soldier came to be. God the foreshadowing in this was just great. I found all the character dynamics so interesting!! I also loved how it showed the differences between modern Steve and WW2 Steve. How you could see how he's matured and changed. God, it is just such a good fic! Highly, Highly, Highly recommend it!

http://archiveofourown.org/works/1547360/chapters/3277913
Summary: In the wake of the HYDRA revelations, Steve Rogers finds himself both a pawn of the rebuilding SHIELD hierarchy and the leader of a newly independent Avengers. He's got masters he can't run from, teammates he can't let down, and a best friend who is turning his newly remembered past to ashes. But when a blast from a mysterious device seemingly sends him back to 1944, Steve has to decide if he should change his past and risk ruining his future by fixing his greatest mistake.
My Comments: Really, really good fic!!! You can really tell how much detail Domenika put into this. I also like how she really fleshes out the Howling Commandos and their personalities. It sort of puts WW2 into perspective and how it would’ve occurred with Captain America there. It does go over Bucky’s captivity so prepare yourself for that. And god was Bucky really well written!!! I highly recommend giving this one a read!!! You won’t regret it!!

Problem Child
By: TGP
http://archiveofourown.org/chapters/8890411
Summary: Two weeks after Steve wakes up, a kid hacks SHIELD and sets every computer to blast AC/DC at random.
My Comments: So the original summary was longer, but I thought that one sentence really says it all. It's a fic about Tony as a kid being brought to the future by Loki. It is a canon!divergence fic, though, so no Iron Man, which is sad. I just really liked Steve and Tony's relationship in this fic. Anyway it is a good fic, and I would really recommend reading it.

You Must Remember This (Otherwise Forget It)
By: Yuma (yuma_writes)
http://archiveofourown.org/works/1027852
Summary: Familiar faces are showing up in old familiar places, yet it didn't make any sense...
My Comments: This is kind of a time travel fanfiction, sort of. I would highly recommend reading this, although the ending is a bit heartbreaking. It still has parts where it is pretty hysterical. It has the Howling Commandos, Peggy, and Howard, but also had Clint and Tony in it too! I would highly recommend reading it.

Even a Lifetime Isn't Enough
By: EnthusiasmGirl
https://archiveofourown.org/works/862189/chapters/1652681
Summary: When a Tesseract signal is discovered by the Avengers and SHIELD in the Arctic, it pulls the team back in time and forces them to confront things that they had long thought were in the past, and look towards a future that they may not want to go back to. Tony is forced to confront his biggest regrets, and Steve is forced to confront his status as a man out of time
My Comments: First, let me just say that this is not a Stony fic. It is confirmed to be abandoned in the last chapter, which is an author’s note, which really sucks because they left it at the best part. This fic is heartbreaking in the best sort of way. I love all the background they put on Tony’s life and it adds a whole new perspective. I also liked how they explored Tony and Howard’s relationship in this, and I really liked the author’s take on it. Too many fics just paint Howard as an abusive asshole, so this was a nice change. This fic is set to private on AO3, but luckily it’s also posted on ff.net, so if you don’t have an account you can just read it there. It’s linked down below.

Summary: An 0-8-4 found by Team Coulson and left with Tony Stark has some unexpected consequences and deadly ramifications.
My Comments: This is one of my favorite MCU fics! I actually lost this fic for about a year when all of my phone bookmarks were erased. This is a Agent Carter/MCU crossover, and I have to say that I just love all the characters interacting. It does have some action in it as well which was delightful. Highly recommend giving this one a chance.

The Other Man Out of Time
By: Sara_Holmes
https://archiveofourown.org/works/6004771/chapters/13791244
Summary: Due to the Time Stone having a great day screwing around with the fabric of reality, Clint finds a copy of himself thrown back into Normandy, 1944. Cue Clint 2.0 meeting Bucky Barnes, the Howling Commandos, and a pretty different version of Steve.
My Comments: So this is a pretty awesome fic. I really enjoyed the concept of it. And you all know that I love anything that includes time travel. The pairing in this is Bucky/Clint, and the author actually manages to pull it off. This is a ship that I never knew I needed. This was written around the time that Age of Ultron came out, so anything that came out after that isn’t relevant. Also in this fic Clint doesn’t have a family. So no Laura or Lila or any of the others. Clint in this fic is more like the comics!Hawkeye rather than the MCU Hawkeye, which I love. Also the timeline is a bit different and though this takes place before Winter Soldier, Wanda and Pietro are still in it. The author’s note explains all this better. Anyway, I highly recommend this fic!! I promise you that you will love it!!

By: InNeedOfInspiration
https://archiveofourown.org/works/4865342/chapters/11151302
Summary: Natasha watches Steve die and decides to use a time travel device from Asgard to go back in 1942 and prevent Bucky from turning into the Winter Soldier. Forbidden to meddle with the past because it could affect the future, she changes her appearance and introduces herself under a false identity. But as they grow close, Natasha finds it harder and harder to resist the charm of Steve from 1942.
My Comments: I absolutely love this fic. I discovered this fic a few years back, I think around the time Civil War was coming out. For the record this is a Romanogers fic, and this is the fic that got me into that ship in the first place. I also love how they show how different it is for women in the 1940s than it is today. I also love Bucky’s and Natasha’s relationship. There is a sequel that is about Steve from that timeline and discovering a woman that looks exactly like “Natalie” and what it’s like having Bucky there during the first Avengers movie. This fic is cross posted on both ff.net and Wattpad, so I'll link both down below.

Twice Told Tale
By: Arysteia
https://archiveofourown.org/works/411599
Summary: For someone he’d hero-worshipped for so long, Steve Rogers in the flesh is a pretty big disappointment. For one thing, he keeps looking at Tony as though he reminds him of someone else, and even if he never says anything, Tony’s pretty sure it’s his father. A lifetime of not measuring up to Howards expectations is more than enough, thank you very much, and he’s certainly not going to make an effort to live up to any of Steve’s. Steve pretty clearly failed to live up to his expectations, in any case, and that’s not hypocritical at all.
My Comments: I love this fic!! It is a Stony fic, and though it doesn’t seem like it from the summary, Tony does end up going to the past about halfway through the fic. I really like how it shows how Tony fell in love with Steve in the present, and Steve fell in love with Tony in the past.

Twice Upon a Time
By: TsaritsaElena
https://archiveofourown.org/works/1028834/chapters/2048751
Summary: Tony Stark has never had an easy relationship with his father, but when Howard Stark circa 1983 time travels to the future in a freak accident, things get even more complicated, especially since Tony is dating his dad’s idol, Captain America, and Howard doesn’t know. As they work towards a solution that will restore Howard to his own timeline, will Tony get a second chance at a father-son relationship with his dad, or is he in for more of the same unforgiving treatment from Howard? This fic includes Time Travel, Avengers Missions, and a secret project of Howard’s. Things at Stark Industries are about to get a little crazy.
My Comments: This is a stony fanfic, and it is really freaking good. I've always been interested in Howard. Most paint him as an abusive asshole, but I always felt like there was more to the story. And it's nice to see a bit of that. The Winter Soldier is in this fanfic as well, and I have to admit that I honestly thought that this was written after CA:TWS came out. It wasn't until after I finished the fic and looked at the date that I realized that it was written in 2013. But Elena was really spot on about a lot of stuff that ended up happening in the movie. I really recommend this fanfiction, it is a must read in my book! Also you do need an AO3 account to read this fic.

Checkmate
By: Hwee
https://archiveofourown.org/works/17833667/chapters/42080216
Summary: Tony has been working on a rudimentary time-travel device since Ultron, and is able to send Peter back in time just as Thanos snaps his fingers. Armed with the knowledge of the events of Infinity War, a middle-school aged Peter must rally a pre-Civil War Avengers in contacting the rest of their fellow heroes and properly preparing for the arrival of the Mad Titan.
My Comments: The summary up above is actually from the fic’s TV Tropes rec, since the original summary was just writing taken directly from the fic itself, which some writers (myself included) do for their summaries. But it doesn’t really work well in a rec list. Anyway, this fic is an absolute gem. I love how they show Peter’s and Tony’s relationship. I mean we have Peter who comes from a time where he and Tony have a close relationship, and Tony who has just met the kid. I really like how Hwee showed the dynamic of it. Anyways the author is doing a rewrite of this fic, it’s only four chapters in but I will link it down below.

Born of the Same Impulse
By: GwendolynStacy
https://archiveofourown.org/works/15299694/chapters/35495001
Summary: To change the fate of the universe, Strange uses the time stone to send both himself and Tony back to the past: before the splitting of the Avengers, before Sokovia, and the series of disasters that would have led to Thanos’s victory. Thrown back to a more peaceful time where he can undo his mistakes, Tony tries his best to keep the Avengers united to do just that. He manages to prevent Ultron, and, subsequently, the Civil War; Meanwhile, Stephen must relive the time of his accident, before Kamar-Taj.
My Comments: The summary above was again taken from the TV Tropes rec on the fic. Anyway, this fic is absolutely delightful. With most PeggySue fics, the main character goes back in time and everything just goes perfectly the next time around. I like that in this fic that doesn’t necessarily happen. I also like how it shows how reliving the past would actually affect both Tony and Strange, and how it looks from the outside to the rest of the Avengers. This fic is cross posted on ff.net, so I'll link it down below.

By: CasiplesCastle
https://archiveofourown.org/works/14602635/chapters/33750195
Summary: Howard watched as the universe claimed his son for itself.
My Comments: This fic is fairly new and doesn’t really have a lot of chapters yet. But I still ended up falling in love with it. The premise of the fic is that Thanos is coming back in time to kidnap a younger Tony to turn him into one of his “children.” I really love the concept of this fic and I really think that it’s going places.

To Infinity, One Step at a Time
By: DoctorWhiteFox
https://archiveofourown.org/works/37754521
Summary: It’s too late, Stephen knows, as soon as he hears the stars screaming. His universe is collapsing, and none of his spells can do anything at this point. But it’s not the end. Stephen Strange wakes up in his scrubs on the floor of a surgery room. Tony Stark wakes up in his workshop at Avengers Tower, held in the arms of an old Iron Man armor. Peter Parker wakes up tangled in the sheets of a bunk bed he hadn’t seen in weeks. The day is 21st September, 2014. The universe holds its breath as three time-displaced souls regain their bearings. Ahead of them, their past awaits.
My Comments: The summary is kind of vague, but the basic premise is Tony, Strange, and Peter get sent back to the past by the time stone. Strange and Peter are both from No Way Home, Tony is from the end of Endgame. This fic mainly centers around Strange, which is kind of refreshing.  I have to say that I really like this fic, it’s no secret that I am obsessed with time travel fics. And the friendship between Stephen, Tony, and Peter is great!! Anyway this is a great fic, and I highly recommend it!!

Best of DC: Week of September 4th, 2019
Best of this Week: DCeased: A Good Day to Die #1 - Tom Taylor, Laura Braga, Darick Robertson, Richard Friend, Trevor Scott, Rain Beredo and Saida Temofonte
Tumblr media
This was absolutely insane from start to finish.
DCeased as an event has been dire, hopeless and gory beyond all reason and while there has been some travel to different places like Keystone City or Atlantis, most of it has been confined to Metropolis and focused on Superman, Green Canary, Jon Kent and Damian Wayne. A Good Day to Die shifts the focus to an entirely different cast of characters and how they’re dealing with the Anti-Life infection.
Starting with an amazing shot of Mister Miracle, Scott Free, and Big Barda using a Boom Tube to look at the destroyed remains of Apokalips, the book establishes just how bad things have gotten for even the worst being in existence. Darkseid is more than likely very dead. Surrounded by the White Light of safety, the couple look on share a tender kiss full of love with Scott saying that seeing Apokalips decimated debris makes him feel pretty good, like a weight has been lifted off of his shoulder, especially since there were nothing but awful memories there. One of the first themes we get here is the love that he and Barda share throughout.
Soon after, we cut to Mister Terrific conducting a myriad of test on a captured but infected Captain Boomerang. There is never a reason given for why he has Boomerang, but his studies ultimately lead nowhere as he too is stumped about how to solve this problem. What makes this interesting is that, Michael Holt is one of the smartest minds in all of the DC Universe. He has almost as many resources as Batman has with double the mind power to piece together a solution, but he’s got nothing. So he turns to the only two people that may have a first person perspective of things - Scott Free and Barda who have just returned to Earth.
Tumblr media
Truly, the only thing that could have made this better would have been an appearance from Guy Gardner for most of a Justice League International reunion. This was alluded to by Ted when Barda first showed up and while this does get some more creedence later on, it is far more gruesome than I would have expected, but it was a fun nod to some old history.
Taylor makes one of the first of many jokes as Terrific knocks on their door, but Scott is convinced that it’s a zombie with their bloody stump until he rings the doorbell, Braga then pulls in close on Scott’s face with the most serious look with him saying, “Answer the door.” and I just couldn’t contain myself. After Barda explains that Apokalips holds no answers as it too was destroyed, we cut to Blue Beetle and Booster Gold holed up in Kord Industries office building. Ted notes that the door is made of titanium and that nothing could get through it… Until Barda gets through it. Scott and Terrific cut down the zombies with ease, allowing the group to escape to Blue Beetle’s Bug on the way to another hope!
After all of that, we venture to the wonderful land of Liverpool, England where John Constantine is being chased by hordes of the Undead and yelling at Chas to start the car. Unfortunately for him, Chas had been looking at his phone and succumbs to the virus himself, forcing John to incinerate his best mate.
Darick Robertson is the artist for these pages and he does an excellent job of drawing a crowd of zombies with bloody faces. He's even better at setting a scene in only a few panels, showing John running from them at a distance, and keeping that same shot, bringing John closer and closer as we see just how dense the horde is. John is absolutely lucky that he manages to survive. The sheer terror on his face as he runs ragged away from danger is a delight and actually makes me feel horrified for him too.
Terrific and the others save John, asking if magic might be able to help them, but John retorts in his normal snide manner that if it could, he would have done it already. Not before making fun of their superhero names, John says that he's going to wait to die while being drunk off his arse in typical fashion.
Tumblr media
Laura Braga's art shifts between the gruesome and the beautiful so often in this book that when Scott and Varda are on screen, they stand out well amongst the drab browns and reds of the zombies. While this is mostly thanks to Rain Beredo's great use of colors in Barda's iconic dark blues and yellows as well as Scott's distinct greens, yellows and red, credit should be given for Braga's amazing posing and scene setting. Seeing Barda and Scott so in love and having it juxtaposed against impending doom is just a wonderful sight to see.
The groups efforts are further impeded when Waverider, a "time cop" comes to prevent Booster from using his time machine to save the universe. Constantine returns out of guilt in the nick of time to try to save the universe, headbutting Waverider for a distraction when ZomBarda crashes through a wall and kills Mister Terrific. This keeps Booster away for time to take its toll as Waverider tells him that Superman apparently finds the body of Barry Allen in some rubble in Keystone, causing Booster and the future to start fading away.
With little options left, Terrific places his faith in the hands of Booster Gold who still has a working time machine somewhere. Even Booster acknowledges the idiocy of that idea, but what else can they do? Booster says he left it in the hands of some trusted friends and where do we go? Malibu! The home of Fire and Ice, the other two members of the JLI as mentioned earlier! Unfortunately for Mister Terrific’s team, both Fire and Ice lost the fight against the hordes and succumbed to the infection themselves. Seeing no other option and quickly being overcome, Scott and Barda sacrifice themselves so that the others may escape. They share one last kiss before getting completely overwhelmed.
I actually almost teared up as I tend to do when things involve Booster and Beetle. Booster Gold and Blue Beetle have the most adorable bromance in the history of comics and watching Ted frantically try to calm his dissipating friend is nothing but heartbreaking. Booster apologizes to Ted that he'll never know him and it's almost too much, even in this series.
The biggest and best change here is John's unwillingness to let this universe fall. John's never been one for superheroics, but seeing just how close Terrifics team came to actually having something of a solution and knowing that he could have been a great help makes Constantine see that the world can still be saved.
Tumblr media
DCeased has me far more involved at this point than I ever expected. Even if it's not a canon story, I really do feel for each character in it. This particular spin off is even better because it has some of my favorite characters and shows just how they'd deal with a rapid zombie infection. Tom Taylor must have been reading old issues of Justice League of America/International because he captured some of the essence that made that series so hilarious with great characterizations and gags.
Laura Braga's art stuns by being every bit as violent as Trevor Hairsine's on the main book while also being very distinct from it with thick lines, excellent facial expressions and good backgrounds. Her cities feel desolate, even with zombies roaming the streets and the way she drew Blue Beetle's Bug brought me back to my love for the character and the wackiness of the vehicle.
Things just tumble down from there as Ted allows himself to be infected and Constantine keeps Waverider locked in place so that he has to face the consequences of what he's allowed to happen. Ted kills Waverider just as Doctor Fate and Zatanna show up to try and rescue Constantine.
I really hope that this spin off continues to every part of the DC Universe and that even when the main series is over there will still be more stories to tell. Like Marvel Zombies, there's a lot of ground that can be covered and it can't just be contained to a six issue miniseries. I mean, it can to avoid oversaturation, but I love this so far.

4. books or movies: I love both so much. I've been doing more reading lately and it's reminded me how much I enjoy it, but movies really transport me. I can't pick between them, I'm sorry. 5. windows or mac: Windows. I've never owned a Mac computer.
6. dc or marvel: Bits and pieces of both? I love the MCU but I'm also pretty into Batman stuff.

8. dragon age or mass effect: I haven't played either yet but my coworker wants to lend me Dragon Age because she thinks I'll love it 9. night owl or early riser: I prefer to wake up early, but it's hard for me so idk
10. cards or chess: chess, though I'm super super rusty now
11. chocolate or vanilla: Chocolate, except in soft serve

15. beach or forest: BEACH BEACH BEACH BEACH BEACH BEACH
16. dogs or cats: -grabs your face and gets uncomfortably close- Do Not Make Me Choose
17. clear skies or rain: I used to be all about the rain and I still love the aesthetic of cozy, rainy days, but it seems that I have recently developed Seasonal Affective Disorder and rainy days mess me up something fierce, so clear skies please
18. cooking or eating out: Eating out, though I need to just not tbh
19. spicy food or mild food: Both? Depends on the food?
20. halloween/samhain or solstice/yule/christmas: Halloween is my favourite holiday (and I always mentally make a Big Deal out of Samhain and then forget to do anything for it oops) but the winter holiday season is one of my fave times of year. There's something special and magical in the air <3
21. would you rather forever be a little too cold or a little too hot: Cold. It's easier for me to warm up than it is for me to cool down.
22. if you could have a superpower, what would it be: Shape shifting. And if you think I wouldn't use that to be a real mermaid, you don't know me well enough
23. animation or live action: Depends on the movie/show. They both have their merits, and some stories really only work in one medium
24. paragon or renegade: hell if I know
25. baths or showers: Baths! I know showers are faster and more efficient, but I love relaxing in the tub with music and a bathbomb and stuff <3
26. team cap or team ironman: I mean, in Civil War even though I can see where they're both coming from I sided with Cap. But Tony is my son.
27. fantasy or sci-fi: Fantasy 28. do you have three or four favourite quotes, if so what are they: - “If you're going to die, then die. If you're going to live, then fight." - Emilie Autumn -"You can't see magic. Magic is what happens on the stage, when the lights come up" - Lady Gaga -"She's mad but she's magic. 31. when you feel accomplished: Is it sad that I'm drawing a blank on this? 33. paperback books or hardback books: Doesn't matter to me
34. horror or rom-com: Rom com, though tbh I'm picky about both
35. tv shows or movies: Movies, but only by a small margin
36. Pink or yellow lemonade: I'm not a big lemonade drinker. I like homemade lemonade, though, so I guess yellow
37: wolves or tigers: Tigers
38. 2D or 3D animated films/shorts/shows: They're both so amazing, so this is hard. The quality of CGI continues to impress me, and as a seamstress, I just adore when you can see the stitching on a character's outfit or be able to tell what fabric it's made of. But CGI also has a tendency to age poorly, which just doesn't happen with hand-drawn animation. I mean, look at, say, Shrek or Toy Story. The animation in both is still impressive, but at the same time it's definitely dated. But Snow White is almost 80 years old and is still stunning. Sorry, I think about animation a lot
39. cake, pie, or cookies: cookies, I guess?
40. Star Trek or Star Wars: I'm a big fan of Star Trek TOS (and the new movies, tbh) whereas I didn't actually get into Star Wars until last year, but even so, I don't actually know which I would pick
41. Bold, pastel, or neutral colors: For what? Décor? Clothes? Makeup?
42. Dub or sub? Dub. I know that 9 times out of 10, dubbed voices aren't as good as the originals, but I like to multitask when I watch things, and I can't do that if I have to read subtitles
43. Rock or punk rock? Both are gr8 but I am less familiar with punk rock bands so I guess rock by default?
44. what would be the first thing you’d do if you won the lottery: Plan a trip around the world to visit all the Disney parks 45. glasses or contacts? (if you need them) : Contacts, though once I get glasses that actually have my updated prescription I might wear them more often

Marvel Fanfiction Rec Part 1
Here is my favorite Marvel fanfictions!! This list is really long, so I split it into two parts.

By: Domenika Marzione
http://archiveofourown.org/works/1547360/chapters/3277913
You won’t regret it!!

http://archiveofourown.org/works/1466107/chapters/3089470
Summary: The man in the booth before Darcy stares down at his pancakes with suspicion. ---- A few days after Bucky discovers his true identity, Darcy encounters him in a diner 50 miles outside of D.C. having apparently transformed from a handsome long-dead war hero into a creepy, scruffy, pancake-hating serial killer. So of course she tries to help him.
My Comments:  I’m pretty sure everyone has read at least one Darcy MarySue fic, and I have to say out of all the ones I’ve read this is by far the best. This is a really good fic, and the sequel is even better! I like that in the sequel they really get into Bucky’s recovery and how Darcy helps with that. The summary might make this sound like a crack!fic, but I promise you it is so much more!

By: Owlet
http://archiveofourown.org/works/1752638/chapters/3745571
Summary: The mission resets abruptly, from objective:kill to objective:protect.
My Comments: One of the most hilarious fics I’ve ever read!!!! It is really, really, really frickin funny!!!!! It’s basically Bucky stalking Steve after the events of Winter Soldier. And I love how it shows Steve and Bucky’s relationship. And God are all the characters just hysterical!!

Summary: After Vanko destroyed the Stark Expo, SHIELD instituted a Superhuman Detention program, designed to capture and hold dangerous people -- dangerous people like Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, and others who made themselves noticeable. The superhumans SHIELD has imprisoned, and some SHIELD --- themselves, have other ideas about what constitutes 'dangerous.'
My Comments: I really enjoyed reading this fic. It was really funny, and I loved the idea of SHIELD imprisoning the Avengers. Now this was written in 2013, before the whole SHIELD/Hydra thing came to light. And Peter Parker is in it, but it's Peter Parker from The Amazing Spider Man (the Andrew Garfield movies). Also Loki is good in this fanfiction. It is still a really good fanfiction, and I highly recommend it. This also would make an amazing What If episode!! It is a must read!  I will also link the tumblr post that inspired this fic down below.

Twice Upon A Time

Summary: Tony Stark has never had an easy relationship with his father, but when Howard Stark circa 1983 time travels to the future in a freak accident, things get even more complicated, especially since Tony is dating his dad's idol, Captain America, and Howard doesn't know. As they work toward a solution that will restore Howard to his own timeline, will Tony get a second chance at a father-son relationship with his dad, or is he in for more of the same unforgiving treatment from Howard? Time travel, Avengers missions, and a secret project of Howard's: things at Stark Tower are about to get a little crazy.
