imagine being shazad latif. you get cast in a star trek show. you’re the main character’s love interest. the writers severely fuck your character over. you try your best, but his potential is wasted. you get written out after s2. the next love interest they introduce is shirtless in his first ever scene, and, perhaps an even worse blow, gets to keep his accent

they want me to care about Michael/Tyler so bad and I just. dont. like im sorry these actors are both fantastic but there is 0 romantic chemistry between them. Tyler as a character just really doesnt do anything, which is unfortunate, because Shazad Latif is INCREDIBLE. I have absolutely no issues with the acting on his part its entirely the writing. Tyler feels like a character they really didnt know what to do with so they just slapped everything they could at him in hopes something would stick but its all too much

But I am so fucking tired of this show and its producers, writers, and actors just lying about things. We were told Lorca was supposed to represent a different side. At New York Comic-Con, I heard Jason Isaacs with my own ears say that we were supposed to leave each episodes thinking about his point of view and maybe agreeing. NOT ANYMORE I GUESS.

Between the lie and the endless, stupid posturing about Ash Tyler and Voq—first announcing that Shazad Latif was cast as a Klingon, then the CBS press release that he had been “recast,” and the fake IMDb profile for Voq’s “actor”—I’m just so tired. If you have to lie this much, if your show is this reliant on “twists,” you’ve failed. If the show itself can’t hide the twist, so you just have to lie in the press and public, you’ve failed.

IM SORRY THIS IS SO STUPID LIKE... POSTURING? DID YOU THINK THEY WERE JUST GONNA BE LIKE “yes we cast the same actor to play both voq and ash, what a coincidence” ???? THIS IS STANDARD FARE FOR LIVE TV??? besides, “hiding” the twist is never the point; every twist has been deliberately and appropriately foreshadowed well in advance. this is literally just deflection so that obsessive fans checking imbd don’t spoil the ending for folks like my mom

also kdjdjssfdkj i mean... lorca really WAS representing a different side... of the the mirror. but anyways imagine being this butthurt about actors not being completely honest with you about the biggest plot twists of the season
