“When you’re in love, you can no longer see faults in that person; it’s a deep love.
So, if you love Allāh, how can you see faults in His plans?”

One week of Ramadan 1439ه has gone by... "All those tribulations that you have- if you put them next to the blessings that you have, they're nothing. So that's why if you focus on your tribulations, you'll become ungrateful, if you focus on your blessings, you'll become grateful... And Ramadan is one of the greatest blessings... People- the righteous cry when Ramadan ends. So this is my advice. We need to show more gratitude and stop complaining. Iblis is the complainer in the Qur'an- he complains all the time. He's so upset about things. And he wants to just make us ungrateful- it's his favourite thing to do- make you ungrateful for your wife, make your wife ungrateful for you, micro aggressions and all these grievance theory and victimology- it's a disease that Iblis has spread among humanity... All these problems have been lying around- how do we address them? ...we have to let these grievances go, we're all Banu Adam, we're all children of Adam, we're all cousins, if we went back far enough, we would see somewhere down the line, we're cousins, we're family. It's the human condition. There's people- they're terrible. But this is the reality- how do we make it better? . . . Remember God and don't forget Him. Be grateful and don't be ungrateful." - Shaykh Hamza Yusuf #beautifulreminder #shukr #gratitude #shaykhhamzayusuf

I love this chapter. It’s the best part of this entire gem of a book. Indeed, the whole book is great, but I especially am enjoying this chapter. It discusses treatments and basically and an overall self improvement summary. Eat less, talk less, pray more. Stay consistent. Be good. Do good. #begood #dogood #begooddogood #shaykhhamzayusuf #shaykhhamzayusufklcc2019 #shaykhhamzayusuf💓 #shaykhhamzayusuf☝🏼 #shaykhhamzayusufsbook #shaykhhamzayusufpurificationoftheheart #purificationoftheheart #purificationoftheheartbyhamzayusuf #fasting #tahajjid #tahajjud #nightprayer #qiyamallayl #witr #discipline #selfdiscipline #control #management #silenceisgold #silenceisgood #moderation #consistency https://www.instagram.com/p/B4_nFlZFRqW/?igshid=rrpu1ybsyhyl

@Regran_ed from @shaykhhamzayusuf - In English, we have an old word for wudu; it's called lustration (some people call it ablution, but I like lustration). Wudu, in Arabic, means, "What makes you shine." Lustration is an old English word for ritual or religious washing before prayers, and it's relate to luster, which means to shine. You were meant to shine, and you have a light in your face that grows with goodness and diminishes or gets weaker with wickedness. The better a person is, no matter what color, the more light they have in their faces. The more evil they are, the less light they have in their faces. Some people, who are not very smart, make the mistake that it is about color; these people think because a person’s skin color is lighter they are better. They don’t understand that it is not color, but the light that glows in light faces regardless of whether they are black, brown, yellow, red, or white. Good people share that light, and there are good people in every skin color. That’s what God means when He says, “On that day (meaning the day of judgement) some faces are white and some are black.” He means white with light even if they are black in color. Black is an amazing color. In physics, which studies light among other things, black is the perfect absorber of light, which is why the pupil of your eye is black. People that have this color are lucky. They absorb sunlight better than people that don’t, so they don’t get sunburnt. This is important because some people don’t understand this and treat people of other colors badly; they think that spiritual light is a color or that spiritual darkness is a color. These are not colors; rather they are states of being that are either good or bad. God says about good people, “The sign of their goodness is in their faces.” God puts lots of light in you, but you have to protect it with good. When you do a misdeed, you ask God to forgive you then wash with water. This is why we wash with water before our prayers, because we want to be pure with no unseen dirt on our souls when we stand before God. #wednesdaywisdom - #regrann (at Tanah Perkuburan USJ 22) https://www.instagram.com/p/BqvtRS9n6uUwQrxJipY_KRKgoAbge_e9MO1S8g0/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=10iwmkw34n559

https://youtu.be/0rdIzYosTIg?t=1m55s Nine years to this month, from March 2009, at The Grand Mawlid in The Bay Area, with @ShaykhHamzaYusuf, @UsamaCanon, @Feraidoon786, and others. We experience time in a weird way. While we’re in the moments, we feel like we have all the time in the world. As we turn back and look a few years behind, it feels like the blink of an eye.

shaykhhamzayusuf: Fitan is Arabic. Fatanah means "to test gold". One of the things you can see in this time is that the basic material people are made of becomes apparent. Is it gold, is it silver, is it lead, or is it some kind of toxic element? You see what people are made of. Some people can act, and you are amazed at their humanity. Other people come out, and you are amazed at their inhumanity, but that is what fitnah does. It exposes people, and that is one of the wisdoms of tribulation. Many people often judge a situation with the short-term in mind and without looking at the long-term implications. People who tend to get caught up in the moment of their short-term judgment lose an understanding that every moment is actually part of a continuum. Not only is the moment that we are in right now based on everything that preceded it, but it also will affect what follows it. There is no such thing as an isolated incident. Every incident in your life is related to the totality of your life. You cannot separate any individual life. That is why a human being is not judged for any individual incident, but you must look at the whole spectrum of growth.

The best aid to give is intellectual aid, a gift of useful knowledge. A gift of knowledge is infinitely preferable to a gift of material things. May Allah increase us in knowledge that will benefit us in this life and hereafter. #zaytunacollege #knowledge #shaykhhamzayusuf #reflection #grateful #reminder #inspiration #motivation

@Regranned from @shaykhhamzayusuf - We’re living in dark times and we have to be aware of the times that we’re living in and understand the nature of the times. Islam is a religion that teaches people to be intelligent, it teaches us to think and to deliberate before we act. And this is where we’re lacking, the Muslims are lacking in strategic planning — we don’t think in long term. We’re people that get angry easily and then our anger subsides and little is done. It’s better to be cool-headed in the face of a tribulation and then to act in a way that will benefit the situation, not in a way that will make it worse or won’t change it at all. This is something that the Muslims have to realize: we have to realize as a community and a people that we have to stop being emotional, we have to stop shouting, we have to stop screaming. The demonstrations that we do have very little affect the way that they’re done, they alienate more than they educate. If you want to win people over to your side and your understanding then the vast majority of people are level-headed, and if they see that you’re level-headed and that you’re presenting the facts as they are, not hiding them, not whitewashing them, because we have skeletons in our history, we have persecution in our history, we’ve done things that we should be ashamed of as Muslims. But that in no way taints the truth of our teaching, because you cannot take a teaching and look at what the students of that teaching do and say “That must be from the teaching.” It’s not fair, because sometimes students don’t understand the lesson, sometimes they got it wrong, they didn’t understand what the teacher was saying, and they go out and they do something that ends up disgracing the teacher.

In traditional cosmology, what is within us is bound to project itself outside of us. Thus, the world that we live in actually reflects the states of our souls. The ocean - symbolizing consciousness in cosmology - reflects the consciousness of society. Today, it is filled with many things that were foreign to it once. Amongst other things, an over-abundance of jellyfish - mindless, spineless, toxic consumers that are doing much harm to the ocean life form as a whole. And unless we as individuals, as families, as societies, begin to rethink our habit of buying anything and everything just because we can and we want to, then we are exactly like the jellyfishes: Mindless, spineless, toxic consumers plaguing our human consciousness and society as a whole. May we learn to live with what is enough for us, for as Ustaz Muhsin always reminds, every single item we buy that is more than what we need will be accounted for - even if it is just the 3rd handbag or the 4th pair of shoe or the 50th shawl. What better examplar is there than Sayyidatina Fatimah az-Zahra, the apple of our beloved Prophet's ṣalla Allāhu ʿalay-hi wa-sallam eyes, who only had two pairs of jubahs despite her father being the best of creations? #lecturenotes #shaykhhamzayusuf #RubatSingapura
