Minolta Auto Focus Tele. Shanghai GP3 100. Ilfosol 3 (1+14).
I think I've found the black and white film I like enough to buy in bulk (other than HP5, which is an obvious choice). Shanghai GP3 is stunning - the only editing I've done to these photos is to remove some scratches than the (old, pre-owned) camera put on the negatives as the roll was rewinding. If I had ~£90 spare I'd buy a 100' roll of this stuff right now and I just hope I can still get hold of it when I have the funds.
Developing this was the first time I've really felt like I was experimenting. The Massive Dev Chart app didn't have times for the combination of GP3 and Ilfosol 3, and the website only gave times for the 120 and slide film versions. But given that those times were the same for both I decided to just go with that number (12 minutes) and see how things turned out. I couldn't be happier with the results. If I can't pick up a bulk roll soon I'm absolutely going to buy another 36 exposure canister and shoot some of this in the OM-10.

Dylan, 2019
I was feeling a little nostalgic recently and came across these pictures of Dylan, in what turned out to be the last shoot we’d do together. This was September of 2019. I don’t think we had a goal in mind on this day, I just showed up at their apartment and we smoked and took photographs for a few hours. The results of this shoot are something I’ve attempted to recreate numerous times with only mild success, something I’ve come to accept is that I might be able to recreate the conditions, the films, the lighting, the poses, but there are other intangibles, you cannot recreate. I remember not exactly being in the best mental place around this time and it felt good just to let Dylan do some crazy poses for a while and talk and take pictures. There was no pressure, it was fun just to do them. I miss that, I’d like to do that again.

From the archives, long exposure at Holland Point in Victoria with a Mamiya RB67 ProS, likely the 127mm, and this is the roll I learned you need to prewash Shanghai GP3, before development, otherwise the dots and numbers on the paper backing can transfer to the image.

Stoating in Leeds - part 3
Finally, the roll of film that I exposed whilst wandering around Leeds recently with good friend Jon. All images: Horizon S3 Pro | Shanghai GP3 100 Shanghai GP3 100 is a film I’ve only recently discovered. I’ve used it in 220, 120 and 35mm and been very happy with the results. Contrasty and with a distinctive grain it’s a throwback to more traditional black and white film stocks to my mind.…

I've just learned that Ars Imago recommended reducing development time when using the LabBox by about 10-15% due to constant agitation. I've definitely noticed that the rolls I've been developing myself have been a little more contrasty than expected, and I'm missing a lot of shadow detail and seeing really blown out highlights. I assumed this was due to poor metering but actually it may well be overdevelopment. Especially as I've been adjusting my dev times to account for a slightly lower temperature, a 10% difference is sometimes a difference of slightly longer than a minute.
I think this weekend I'm going to load up another roll of Shanghai GP3 100 - a film I've shot and developed successfully - and reduce the dev time just to see if I can spot any difference.
The real test, of course, would be to shoot two rolls with two identical cameras taking shots at the same time and then develop them with different times. And don't think I haven't thought about doing that - especially as I've just picked up a bottle of Bellini Euro HC developer and I'd really like to do a direct comparison between it and Ilfosol 3, which is what I've been using so far. I own two Canon EOS 500ns, and if I also owned two of the same lens for it I'd do this in a heartbeat. But I don't, so I can't.
