I actually made a side blog for Early Edition because I'm feeling goofy. If anyone's interested they can check that out AND WATCH THE SHOW. (/silly, I just want to spread propaganda about a goofy 90s show that no one seems to care about)

this man gets tomorrow's newspaper today??? (NOT CLICKBAIT)
(I've never made a side blog before so bear with me)
Hi! I am hyperfixating on Early Edition like crazy and I wanted to make a space to talk about it since I want my main blog to remain DS9/Siddig centric for now :)
Here you'll find:
Me yapping about the show
Terrible memes
Very rare fanart
Probably some other Kyle Chandler related stuff

The Early Edition (S1) episode, "The Choice" (episode two) takes place on Friday the 13th. Now, considering I wasn't super aware of this show as a kid (outside of the fact that it had a magical cat in it), the significance episode's date might've been something they actually used to advertise it. But the episode aired October 5th, 1996.*

So, if the "FRI 13" date on Gary's watch wasn't an-in universe thing, then they might've filmed the episode January 13th, 1995 (Fri). But considering the watch face got a close-up, canonically, the calamitous traffic jam that kept Gary, Marissa and Chuck away from the airport happened September 13th, 1996 (Fri).
Instead of cracking the usual bad luck jokes and cliches, they played the trolley car scenario straight.
The only other Friday the 13th that happened in 1996 was in December, and it wasn't snowing in that episode, nor was Santa Clause running around drunk.
*I also think they aired season one's episodes out of order? Chuck mentions the freak tornado that wrecked his car, but (IIRC) that doesn't happen until episode nine ("His Girl Thursday").

PROVEN INNOCENT (ordered to series; fka “Infamy”)
A legal team, led by a fierce and fearless female lawyer with a hunger for justice, reopens investigations, putting their own lives in danger to exonerate the innocent that were ‘proven’ guilty. Our lead’s motivation comes from her infamous past; as a young adult she was found guilty and later exonerated in a high-profile case in which she became a tabloid sensation, household name and national celebrity. While a hero and a victim to some, her bold and bullish tactics garner her some enemies— one of whom will do anything to see her go down for a crime we know she did not commit.
Cast (thus far)
Rachelle Lefevre (Mary Kills People) as Madeline Scott, a fierce and fearless lawyer with a hunger for justice. Madeline’s motivation comes from her infamous past; as a young adult she was found guilty and later exonerated in a high-profile case in which she became a tabloid sensation, household name and national celebrity.  While a hero and a victim to some, her bold and bullish tactics garner her some enemies— one of whom will do anything to see her go down for a crime we know she did not commit. (Mar 12)
Clare O’Connor (Chicago Med) as young Madeline. (Mar 16)
Russell Hornsby (Grimm) as the male lead Ezekiel “Easy” Boudreau, a savvy, pragmatic and cool attorney who works at the wrongful conviction firm. (Feb 21)
Riley Smith (Frequency) as Levi Scott, Madeleine’s brother. (Mar 13)
Nikki M. James (BrainDead) as Violet. Gregarious and charismatic, Violet is the law firm’s communications director. (Mar 20)
Vincent Kartheiser (Mad Men) as Bodie Quick, the intrepid, scrappy and endearing investigator for the wrongful-conviction firm. (Mar 12)
Kelsey Grammer (Frasier) as Cole Bellows, a hard-as-nails and tough on crime state’s attorney. He was the prosecutor who initially put Madeline away and still believes in her guilt, leading him on a ceaseless quest to see her behind bars again, (Jun 1)
Brian d’Arcy James (Spotlight) was announced in the role on Mar 16. However, on Jun 1, it was announced that the role had been recast with Grammer, for whom the role was being retooled. Reportedly, "the series’ producers and the network loved [James’] performance and hope to cast him in a different role down the road.”
Laurie Holden (The Americans) in the recurring role of Greta Bellows, the wife of Gore Bellows. She is shrewd and sexy, a Lady Macbeth type. Smooth and driven, she’s got her eyes on the prize and wants her husband to win the Attorney General race, possibly even more than he does. (Sep 21)
Karin Anglin (Chicago P.D.) played the role in the pilot (Mar 16). However, like the role of Gore, Greta was recast.
Elaine Hendrix (The Parent Trap) in the recurring role of Susan Andrews, a shameless self-promoting TV pundit who has the pull to sway public opinion with her proclamations of guilt or innocence. Seemingly based off of Nancy Grace. (Sep 13)
unconfirmed by press release
Caitlin Mehner (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) as Mandy Husband, Madeline's former high-school tormentor. (Mar 16)
Frances Guinan (The Exorcist) as Jake Scott, Madeline's salt of the earth, blue collar father. (Mar 16)
Meg Thalken (ER) Helen Scott, Madeline's sweet and quiet mother. (Mar 21)
Persia White (Girlfriends) as Erin "Wren" Reynolds, a sexy, tough inmate covered in tattoos. (Mar 16)
Shanesia Davis (Early Edition) as Irene Boudreau, Easy's soon-to-be ex wife. (Mar 16)
Genre: Legal Drama
Created by: David Elliot. Directed by: Patricia Riggen.
Produced by: David Elliot, Danny Strong & Stacy Greenberg.
Studios: 20th Century FOX Television &  Danny Strong Productions
The trailer below is from May Upfronts, and thus still includes footage of the now-recast Brian d’Arcy James as Bellows

Just saw LOVECRAFT COUNTRY at a special screening.
GUYS!
DO NOT MISS THIS SHOW.
It’s
fantastic.
Warning:
This review is somewhat spoiler-laden.
If you don’t want any spoilers? Just know... #THISISAREC and skip the rest.
First...  I was so pleased to see Shanesia Davis-Williams of Early Edition fame (Marissa) cameo in the first few scenes... Then it takes it’s time laying out the people and the world.   Our lead, Atticus played by Last Black Man in San Francisco’s Jonathan Majors is a bookish nerd who got buff due to military service, who still loves his fantasy/sci-fi books. Lettie played by Jurnee Smollett-Bell is a wonderful personality, a former church-girl and also formerly in the same sci-fi club at her friend Atticus’ school, is brash and independent. We had a nice beautiful love between an older black couple shown, from which another primary player, Atticus’ uncle George comes.  He travels using the old Negro Travel Guide to help Atticus to a mysterious spot referenced by his father in an odd letter. At first the horrors are of the racist variety, but then it takes a turn into Amazing Stories territory. It honestly, feels very Spielbergian. Like all the trappings of old school Americana, but with a black family centered. And folks.... WATCH FOR THE VISUALS IN THE OPENING. Just stunning. I am here for this show. I am IN all the way. It’s fun, the characters are likeable, it’s black 1950′s Americana.  It’s the supernatural adventure I’ve always wanted to see a black family centered in. And placing it in the 1950′s with all the high gloss color makes it feel both gorgeously classic and somehow also eerily otherworldly.  ...It feels like how a theremin sounds. Just be patient with the world-building and it will ratchet up after you’re invested in the characters. You know I have been excited for this for a good while and I was not disappointed.  WATCH ON SUNDAY! It deserves the views!

In Gary We Trust - does it bug you?
I like the episode, I really do.  But it has two points that just yank me right out it.  One is Marissa her “some cookie stashed upstairs” or whatever the exact phrase she used was.  If Gary says there is a good reason, then I think her mind should jump immediately to the paper.  The other is Gary not telling Marissa what’s really going on.  Despite whatever rules they give him, that one makes no sense to me. It seems out of character.  He tells her when the paper causes things to happen. I know those are put there for tension and humor, but they fall flat to me.

I was watching the Brendan Fraser and Joe Pesci movie With Honors and was caught off-guard by the sudden appearance of Shanésia Davis-Williams as a doctor.

Lmao I just looked up the show on tumblr because I've been kinda insane about it privately for over a month now, but just yesterday finished watching it so I felt more free to look stuff up online AND LET ME TELLLL YOUUUUUUUU this show is my everything, Gary Hobson is my girlfriend (CANON). I'm just sad there doesn't seem to be much of a fandom for it, I want to make goofy posts about the main three
