Genuinely into chronic pain Rin and how gentle she tries to be with her team because she knows they worry about her, but she's so tired of them being scared that she'll die as if she's fragile.
Rin, who was a medic nin in war times. Who took a chidori to the chest, so there are many of her nerves that she can't even feel. Rin, who has been told she cannot exit Konoha for a mission because she's an excellent medic nin and Tsunade would rather have her alive and saving lives than dead on an unnecessary mission for a rich asshole.
Rin, who cried of rage on Tsunade's arms the first time she got a panic attack. Because Tsunade was like her. They were scared and broken and it all happened when they were so young— Rin, who receives bottles upon bottles from Tsunade, but she decided to collect them as a reminder. It's not as bad as it could be, she doesn't need a drink.
Rin, who took one look at Sakura and knew that she needed to get out of her team. They loved her too much to allow her to grow into a kunoichi. She knew. She knew that if it was for Team 7, they'd take her away, protect her innocent smile and all that kept them thinking the world should be like that and not as it was. Rin, who was as strict as Tsunade to Sakura, but she never allowed her to forget that it meant something. It was hers. All of it. She should take it.
Rin, who is capable of being morbid. She learnt all she could about poisons from Shizune. She asked Anko to teach her torture techniques. Why, you ask? Because she remembers how they tried to turn her into a jinchuuriki. How helpless she felt, how she later thought "I need to learn more".
Diamond Girls au Rin, my beloved.

Dropping the official teams for the first Konoha 12 come back mission. As a treat <3
Context:
The kunoichis of the Konoha 12 are back, but after so many years of working for Tsunade or spending time perfecting their clan techniques, they have to prove themselves.
The operation belongs to Konoha Police Force and is directed by Fugaku Uchiha. Since the whole goal is to prove that a) the kunoichis are capable of holding their on and b) they are loyal to Konoha, Tsunade can watch, but she cannot participate in any way.
Fugaku decided to separate the girls from their genins teams to truly test them.
Mission Status:
Konoha Police located a rogue nin base that they have been following for quite some time. The orders are to get in, neutralize the enemy, contain the situation, rescue any hostages and get out without casualties.
The Teams :
INFILTRATION TEAM — Kiba, Ino, Shino.
They're the first step. The "previously".
This team is full of deemed specialists in what one could call espionage. Be it shapeshifting, mind control or remote control of elements able to transfer information, they know how to get in, blend in, find the information they are looking for and get out as if they were never there to begin with.
Since they work mostly alone, they're some of the most in danger. There's also a myriad of unpleasant situations they'd have to participate in. Long range is preferable, either that or the type of subtle technique that can be used up close and leaves no evidence.
Unlike many other infiltration teams, this one focuses on details that no many would pick up on. Sound, smell, even your mind. No one is safe with them around.
EXTERNAL TEAM — Shikamaru, Tenten, Choji.
Once the infiltration team relies all the info they need, the external team sets in.
Their job is to prepare the operation so nothing would go wrong. They set a perimeter, fill the selected space with traps to avoid any enemy escaping, they lay the basics of the mission and connect everyone to the headquarters.
Although Fugaku is leading the operation, it's more of a supervision than anything else. The external team must control the scene with the parameters they were given.
Since they have to keep an eye on everything and everyone, there's often a specialist on every attack range (close combat, middle range and long range combat). They must be tricky and hard to evade, but also low-key enough that the enemy won't spot their exact location.
ATTACK TEAM — Sasuke, Hinata, Naruto.
They kick-start the real action!
( and cause everyone else a headache)
This team's job is to directly engage with the enemy, to both neutralize them and to provide a distraction for the retrieval team to act. They must be loud, they must be capable of being lethal, they must be capable of taking damage or at least capable of engaging for long periods of time.
In truth, the top requirement for anyone who wants to join an attack team is to be annoying and resilient. Attack teams don't really know what they'll find, for how long they'll have to fight or if the other teams would be available to give them any help.
Along with the unpredictability and endless energy of a jinchuuriki, the attention to detail and the battle IQ of an Uchiha, they have the high range vision and chakra blockage of a Hyuuga. Nothing screams Konoha like three of the best clans on the attack team.
RETRIEVAL TEAM — Neji, Sakura, Rock Lee.
The shifters. They can become any of the other teams if needed.
In a perfect scenario, they never engage with the enemy, follow the info provided by the infiltration team to get to the hostage, get the hostage out the place and into the protection perimeter set by the external team and repeat until everyone is safe.
In the real world, the retrieval team often fights their way to the hostage only to find one too many problems to fix at the second if they do want the hostage alive. They're the backup for every other team, they are the ones running in and out of the battlefield, as many times as it's needed. Although, while the hostage is alive and it's capable of being saved, they maintain their status and only the retrieval matters.
Long range is not really necessary, 'cause their mission is not to be noticed. They need to be fast as to not get caught and in case there's no way around it, close combat is a priority. They
#it's me so you know the changed placements have a secret intention#okay okay I wanted to show how versatile the girls are and how much they've grown on their own !!!!!#They're giving Fugaku s heart attack#like??? all of them trained with Tsunade. of course they take no shit#they won't stand someone telling them how to do their job when they know they're doing it right#bless the boys souls they have no clue of what's about to go down even if they know the girls are acting sus as hell#diamondgirlsau#diamondgirls#shanaruto aus#shanaruto au#ino yamanaka#hinata hyuuga#tenten naruto#sakura haruno#thediamondgirls#the diamond girls

I need a magical au where Kurama is a veteran service animal companion that was assigned to Naruto after he lost his parents.
Kurama had to re-train because he was behaving incorrectly. Minato and Kushina were the trainers, but they suddenly got murdered by a man in an orange mask. Kurama couldn't care less, he says, until he remembers that Naruto is the only person that has ever treated him like a friend and not like a worker, a servant or just an animal companion.
He convinces himself that he only asks to be assigned to Naruto so he can control him and take revenge, but the truth is that they are good friends and enjoy each other's company a lot.
Bonus: Kurama is normally the size of a normal dog, but it turns out that the healthier Naruto is, the more powerful Kurama grows until he can become a giant monster to defend his friend.

To be clear, the reason why Minato and Kushina got killed on the Diamond Girls au is because they saw the Hidden Villages system as a step towards a better world and not the final state.
People with chakra and kekkei genkais survived by forming clans bases on family/blood relationships to fight off other clans and take violent jobs that would pay for their sustenance. Later, Hashirama and Madara founded the hidden villages system to stablish an standard of alliances between clans that would offer greater protection, along with the ability to obtain greater resources by liking their services to an element nation.
Knowing that Hashirama and Madara wanted to live in a world where children didn't have to fight and die all the time, it feels stupid to consider the hidden villages system as the final products. The economy of a hidden village is violence and death and suffering; there's simply no way it should be considered the finalization of their dream.
Minato saw that. He realized that Tobirama took many decisions that deviated from the original Hashirama dream, but that were necessary at the moment given the state of the world around them and the pressure of war. For example, Tobirama institutionalized soldier children by creating the Academy. Teaching children how to kill is indeed counterproductive on the long term, but at the moment it was better for kids to learn how to defend themselves and fight, because war knows no age and the enemy wouldn't spare them. If it was Tobirama's line of thinking, no one knows, but it could be rationalized like that.
The real problem came with the corruption of the original dream, which happened with Hiruzen and Danzo. For once, they were more Tobirama's kids than Hashirama's. Danzo saw the hidden villages system as the perfect machine that should be protected and maintained at all costs, which it wasn't. Hiruzen didn't necessarily shared Danzo's point of view, but he was unable to continue the change and limited himself to maintaining the status quo. That means, he preoccupied himself with maintaining Konoha's supremacy over other hidden villages, so that the threat of their power would keep others at bay.
When it came to Minato— well, the man was bold and had the benefit of an outside view (his) and a insider (Kushina). They agreed that society should not be solely on clans or hidden villages, at least not anymore. Clans were good and should be maintained given their tradition, cultures and the feeling of kinship with the family, but to base the shinobi system on clans could lead to maintain archaic practices like the secondary branche of the Hyuga clan, or the prejudice against clans like the Uchihas. Bloodline, kekkei genkais and other clan related elements were important, but again, it could generate unhealthy pressure upon heirs or discard really good shinobis that came from non clan families, among other problems.
The issue with the hidden villages system is that it was too reliable on violence and taking jobs from the elemental nations. It's partially given that the elemental nations want hidden villages to depend on them / fear the independence of the hidden villages, partially due the lack of other military like structures. On paper, the relationship between the elemental nations and the hidden villages is one of mutual benefit, but they don't particularly act like they are all part of the same community. Instead, it's more like an alliance. The division between shinobis and civilians in Naruto is too great for it to translate to our reality.
Minato thought that it was time to start working on lessening the division between clans, civilians and common shinobis. A difficult thing to do, if you consider that "turning shinobis more cilivian" or "going for hidden villages independence from the elemental nations" or even "lessening the impact of clan bloodline in hidden villages politics" sounds awful to the traditional parties, like you're telling them to be more weak.
In reality:
1) You cannot keep an ongoing state of war and then expect war not to break in. Most shinobis are seen mostly as weapons and not at all like people, which is part of the problem (see ROOT, if you want an example). So when you talk about turning shinobis more into civilians, it only means to give them a sense of peace, normalcy and care that reminds them that killing might be their job at the moment, but it doesn't have to be who they are all the time.
2) Minato doesn't want to immediately erase the Hidden Villages, but that's the goal, isn't it? If they aim for peace, having states dedicated to killing and violence is not ideal. Shinobis are bound to disappear one day and that's not a bad thing to want or look forward.
3) A lot of the violence of the shinobi world comes from the difference between common people and chakra users. That means that kekkei genkais and other chakra abilities are feared to the point of genocide (some examples include the jinchurikis, the Uzumaki clan and Haku). At some point you need to deal with that discrimination, creating opportunities for chakra users to live civilians lives and know that being a shinobi is an option, not a rule anymore. It means guaranteeing stuff like the safety of an Uchiha of the main clan if they want to become civilians and never learn how to fight or kill other people. Highly complicated, but you need to start somewhere!
4) Clans cannot dictate most hidden villages rules and, in Konoha's case, being from an important clan should not be a requirement to be a hokage. Minato did amazing proving that point, but he had to further work on it. Funnily enough, this point was easier to tackle. For example, Uchihas were prideful but highly understanding and they were willing to change in order to achieve peace. The Hyugas were a bit more of a problem, but it was not impossible and Minato was a fuinjutsu specialist, he really wanted to deal with the seal of the second branch and erase it once and for all. Minato wanted to protect their heritage and their traditions (like he couldn't do with the Uzumakis) while simultaneously freeing them of the burden of their past mistakes.
As it's evident, it would have changed the whole shinobi world. People like Danzo didn't like Minato because he thought he was brilliant, yet naive. It was not that easy and the process would weaken the village and allow others to attack. At the same time, other villages wanted to stop Konohagakure advance because they (those villages) either still depended highly on working as militaries or they liked the violent system. Of course that elemental nations hated it as much; they were terrified of the day Minato would declare Konoha didn't need the Fire Nation anymore, as distant as it could be.
I'm really enjoying thinking about the political aspects of this au. It's simply to see that I based it way more on the Classic than on Shippuden, but that was an easy decision.

I've already wrote the prologue of Dogs Come In Packs, but I need to get an average word count for each chapter. I want to consult with you all since you'll be the ones reading.
*Please consider that the longer the chapter, the most time it'd take me to update. I can also play around with the lengths depending on what is going on in the fic, but I need an average to work with and know what type of story I'll be telling.

Fantasy Au where Kakashi is a shapeshifter and Sakura, Naruto and Sasuke met him in different circumstances, where Kakashi saved their lives.
They met him as a giant magical dog, someone who protected them or took care of them for a time, before dissaparing. No one would believe them a creature like that existed on the forest, at least not until they met each other and shared their experiences.
The story is nothing but the early teens' journey through the magical forest of Konoha, where they seek to save the creature that helped them many years ago.

I think I'll work on the first 10 chapters of the Dogs Come in Packs au, so when time to upload it comes, I can regularly update without worrying.
Also, I'm gonna work on some extra chapters that are not truly relevant to the story, but are funny and gives you more of Kakashi dealing with his little pack. Yes, I'm aware of the irony of putting written fillers on a Naruto fanfic, but this ones are canon, they happened, but you can skip them and it'd be all the same.

Continuing with the au of what if Ino had Sasuke's place in the narrative (Sakura in Naruto's place, of course), can you imagine Ino manically laughing 'cause she lost her mind?
Ino wanting to eacape her mind but it being the one weapon she has above her enemies. Sakura panicking because what if Ino enters so many minds, the lines between who she is and who others are start blurring, what if she starts to lose her identity, what if her mind spills and Ino had no one there to help her hold on.
As a parallel to Kakashi teaching Sasuke, Asuma teaches some hand to hand combat to Ino and it's her and her chakra infused whip or whatever body she's possesing now against the world.
Playing into the evil shapphic / bisexual themes now, but worst day of Sakura's life is when Ino possesed Sasuke to fight her. Those are her best friends words falling from her crush lips and Ino is smiling like she knows Sakura is shaking. Bonus because Sakura is allowed to go rage and enter beast mode just like Naruto, but it is just Sakura letting her inner personality out, destructive and careless and ruthless, but still somehow carefully contained compared to the wild Insanity in Ino's eyes.

If someone wants to be the beta reader for my Dogs Come In Packs au, please let me know and I'll send you the link to read the previews on Drive aka Google Docs.
English is my second language, which means I often struggle with certain aspects of the writing process. I also have this tendency to write more than necessary, so I know there gonna be scenes that I'll have to shorten, as much as they'll be passages to rephrases, since my constructions in terms of worda can be... awkward.

I think you all should be aware that I adore writing about how the characters perceive the world and what they think and how they feel.
I'll try to stick to the canon dialogues in the manga at least in the earlier chapters of the Dogs Come In Packs au. I have the feeling I'll end up changing the story somewhere along the course of the fic, but I guess it'll be a surprise for us all.
Ah! and there's no real romance in the beginning?? There's gonna be romantic love of course, with the genins and their little crushes, but nothing heavy or different from the canon. If anything, I'll just dive in what those feelings mean to them as characters, how they weight on their decisions and personalities, nothing more.
If we ever reach the Shippuden era with this au, it'll be crazy. But let's no go further than we can reach right now.

Earlier today I was trying to plan the boys arcs, because even when the au focuses on the girls, I don't want to take anything from them. Quite the contrary, I want to make them as important to the narrative as they were in canon and even more.
Neji, for example. I wanted to explore more of the secondary branch of the Hyuga clan through him. He should be a sort of leader and spokesman for them, right? In order to show progress after what happened with the Hyugas in the Churning Exam, I want Neji to become really important within the hierarchy of the clan, I want him to grow into and beyond the role his father had.
Hinata and Neji diving together into the world of Konoha's politics is a hell of a concept!!!
On the other hand, I lessened the role of chakra in this au, so Kiba and Akamaru have a bigger role. He comes close to unmasking the Diamond Girls several times, it's just that he's kinda dumb and keeps reaching the wrong conclusions. I haven't discarded the idea of Kiba and Akamaru getting medical training as a part of the Inuzuka clan training requirements.
And those are just two examples!!!
I want to explore Choji's relationship with others through food themes (he wants to keep them safe so he feeds them, love as food, community and culture through the culinary art, etc). For Shino, the plan is for him to try and create a sense of community within the Konoha 12 through insect allegories that not many get, but he's smart and he keeps pushing people to work together from the shadows. I will double down on Jiraiya as a girl sensei, because he will teach Tenten and Naruto at the same time. Rock Lee is not brushed aside, he's in fact highly requested in missions and one of the most promising shinobis of his generation, but he'll have to deal with the responsibility that it entails.
It's special to me that the girls are the ones who narrate the boys' improvement. It's a way to show the misogyny of the Naruto world— the girls pay attention to everything the boys do, they learned that lesson as kids. However, most of the boys are blind to what the girls are doing in the beginning of the au. I like the idea of the boys slowly finding out about who the girls really are; I want the boys to unwrap the girls' potential through observation, for them to spend time studying the girls to figure them out.
I want to show how great and complex the boys are as individuals and as a team. That would make the story more believable.
I need to write more for the Diamond Girls au

Kinda obsessed with the idea of making Tenten the mechanic of the Diamond team.
First of all, I think she's mad creative. She needs to be in order to combine correctly her weapons to do her combos, right? She needs to know all their properties, when to better use them and when not to, she also needs to clean and sharpen them, needs to be constantly studying new types.
I was trying to think what Tsunade could actually teach... And then I guessed that it'd be interesting to make Tenten the one friend who learns on her own. Sure, she is the weapon expert of the team, but why not allow her to experiment with other things? Anything can be a weapon if she tries and I know she can learn how to work with that other stuff if she has the time.
It also fits the fact she's so underrated and she's always in the background :( mechanics impact the results of a mission in ways people can't begin to understand.

Diamond Girls au have some manga opposite perspectives that I just thrive for.
You have like Naruto and Sasuke blowing things up in the background, completely destroying the enemy, but the focus of the scene is in Tenten and Ino desperately trying to get a two siblings into a safe place before they died crushed by the debris.
Yes yes the big fight, but Sakura has both hands shoved inside someone's stomach doing what I can only call war-times surgery with Hinata there guarding her, in case someone tries to kill them while she works.
It's Karin almost running out the operation room because the cameras are showing a girl beings pushed by her dress into an ally and Anko having to remind her that if she leaves her places, many other girls die. They need to trust the team on the field, they need to do their jobs and save as many as they can. They need to keep it together 'cause they don't have the luxury of going out brawling with the enemy whiles the entire city depends on their assistance to survive.
Rin can't exit the hospital. She's having a panic attack on an utility room. Shizune jumps from one emergency to the other, every scene more bloody thsn the one before. Kurenai is trapped in her disguise in enemy territory, forced to pretend that she doesn't care, that she's not dying inside.
Every one of them have a roped tied to the neck. The horrors don't await for them in the aftermath of the fight. The horrors are there, wailing a street away, bleeding out on concrete chunks, all around them in a rush of light and sound they can't turn off if they want to make it through.
They are the Diamond Girls. Tsunade made them so they could handle pressure at its finest.

Listen the thing about Team Anko is that they are rude and unapologetic but they are also just girls, you know?
Someone could call them overconfident, but they didn't go through 6 years of Orochimaru program for nothing. They know their worth and they won't hide it. Why should they? To appear prettier?
And someone could call them mean, malicious, but that's because they are mean and malicious. They are ninjas after all. They do their job very well and if you don't like their personalities, that's your problem. They will manipulate and cheat and play dirty if that means they'll make it out alive.
Yet Kin is competitive in silly ways. She loves to show off her skills in sports or games. Karin likes flirting, but she likes it when her boundaries are clearly respected. Tayuya composes new songs for fun! She loves studying patterns!!!
They like gossip and going out and buying things and going to the movies, things that their pasts robbed them off. They all grew up getting used and abused by other villages. In Konoha, they own their loyalty to Orochimaru only, who happens to be their ally. So for the first time, on his program they found freedom. Orochimaru is strict but he's also fair— as long as they complete their tasks, they can spent their time however they like.
I'm do excited to explore their characters further, to see what they could be with a bit of space, a little time, a chance.

For my Diamond Girls au : Team Anko.
( picrew link here )
“ Three young girls who found in Orochimaru's program the guarantee of their independence. As now allies of Konoha, they often support the diamond girls in their operations. With Anko as their sensei, you don't want to cross them. ”
Tayuya : sound specialist. often stays behind coordinating mics + headphones, deciphering recordings and toying around with the enemy's signals. quiet but really mean when provoked. she's actually the best fighter of the squad.
Kin Tsuchi : sound specialist. Tayuya's woman in the field. often disrupting the enemy lines to provide coverage, plant mics and webcams, or collect vital info. her training taught her to not be overconfident. hates vain, shallow people.
Karin Uzumaki : image specialist. common job is to physically guide the girls in their missions. the best at keeping track of targets and places and predicting time and space frames. perfect awareness of the context around her. amazing at restrictions. quick temper, very flirtatious.
#Some details:#Orochimaru's program is brutal#similar to the anbus but in a less disciplined way and more in a he's a mad scientist way#they are also more matured than in the manga (they were 14 back then here they are around 20-21 years old)#They have a rivalry with the diamond girls but it's a healthy one that has stimulated their growth#On a sad note team anko has history getting manipulated or abused by men#Here Orochimaru is an asshole but he never takes advantage of any of them in that regard#the girls of this au share a fierce loyalty to each other because the world is not gentle for kunoichis and they are fucking savage#can't wait to show it to you guys dkdjkdnd#naruto#Naruto au#Diamond girls au#Tayuya naruto#Tayuya#Karin Uzumaki#Kin Tsuchi#Shanaruto aus#Shanarutoaus#Shanarutofanfics#Shanaruto fanfics#Naruto fanfic#Naruto Shippuden#Naruto Shippuden fanfic#Picrews
